TODAY’S EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Koku you amethyst time!!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 And it’s apparently the moment that the show’s staff have been waiting for just as eagerly as I have because it’s the best looking episode not just of this season but maybe… of the entire series since its inception…????!! I genuinely can’t think of another one that has Multiple dedicated cuts of detailed action in a row like the sequence from kyou kai snapping on the mountain road to the encounter between shin and kyou kai + rai do and koku’ou at kan ki’s camp, and certainly not one anywhere near as good looking, it’s such a treat…!!!!!!!
[quick aside, before I forget I want to add that rai do is addressing shin as ‘obocchan’ in the last cap above :DDD truly the gift that keeps on giving]
And anyways that’s without even touching on how good this sequence would be regardless of looks because it’s still Amethyst Plot time 🥰❤️💞❣️💓💍💘 Bi hei giving in to peer pressure in just the kind of moment of weakness that you can’t actually detest him for (of course you would want to believe him when he tells you it wasn’t a civilian village..), kyou kai absolutely fucking snapping, the cool head ten maintains between trying to hold shin back and immediately pivoting the hi shin unit to a defensive formation for the real possibility that shin and kyou kai actually start pvp against the kan ki army , and of course shin and kan ki putting their cards on the table :)))))
^ my favourite panel of him ever now animated!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 and my favourite moment in the exchange between them, shin’s is still yet to come (I think all his talk in this week’s episode about kan ki not being equipped to handle sei’s dream of unification *is* sweet and sincere but it’s also dumb and that’s why kan ki is able to refute him so easily; the point that really matters and where his moral stance becomes unassailable, for me, is in the fact that it’s all for hyou’s sake. there’s no counter-argument about what you may or may not be turning a blind eye to there, it’s the mandate made absolute and incorruptible instead…) but this is maybe my favourite line of kan ki’s ever… he’s just following through on the promise he made you; these are the rules you agreed to play by! 🥰🥰🥰 i don’t even need to go into the premium emycore aspect of ever part of this sequence lol, the indulgence of it all…
also I was pleasantly surprised to see that they preserved just about all all of the gore from the scenes covered in this week’s scenes; there are some minor changes (the zhao soldiers kan ki is having the saki clan interrogate early in the episode are shown a little less mutilated than they are in the manga, and there’s no nudity) but they really are minor which bodes pretty well for the saki clan artworks coming up soon :~) I think there’s a chance we might not see that scene until the week after next since next episode’s primary focus will of course be Bi Hei And The Hi Shin Unit as per the ep title, but i’m so curious to see what they do with it since the anime has *always* omitted saki and saki-adjacent activities in the past. but I won’t get ahead of myself when we still have all of bi hei’s crisis to savour first :D
also, in shin’s speech telling kan ki off, we got a little additional visual of ran dou from sanyou campaign! always on the lookout for scenes from s1-2 appearing in flashback in the current art style <3
and i really had forgotten what he looked like lol even though this is another scene I absolutely adore for similar reasons to the one in the camp in this episode - though there’s no mou ten around to step in and defend shin this time, of course… :)

AITA for saying different stuff to my friend’s face and behind his back?
As you can tell, I’m pretty genuinely worried I screwed up here.
So I (17F) and my friend (17M) both auditioned for the school musical. We both have done every high school show, so we’re very immersed in the theater world. We are seniors and this was our last show. This is just some context—the point of which is that my friend and I both have tons of friends in the theater department, and that’s where a lot of our socialization happens.
My friend was the male lead in the last school musical, so it was likely he’d be the main male lead again this year. However, when I saw what musical we were doing, I actually thought he’d be better as the supporting male lead. Still an ENORMOUS role, but due to his personality, casting type, acting, and tap dancing abilities, that just seemed like the better role for him.
Meanwhile, this other senior guy who had only done one show also was auditioning. Now, he’s also very talented, so in his first show he actually got a pretty big role, but he also proved really difficult to work with during that show and also at the auditions for this new show got so upset he actually stormed out for a while.
However, his acting and singing audition were perfect for the main male lead.
If he was cast as the main male lead and my friend was cast as the supporting lead, our show would have looked SO GOOD.
But after the whole storming out fiasco, I was pretty sure that other guy wasn’t getting a big role at all. But when the cast list came out, my friend was the main lead and this guy was the supporting lead.
Now. I was super happy for my friend. But it was not a good casting choice for him, and since that other role is so big, it doesn’t really punish the other guy for walking out either. So it doesn’t save us the headache of working with the one guy AND puts my friend in a role that isn’t as perfect for him.
But my friend is BELOVED in the cast, and not just by me. He’s practically worshiped by everyone who isn’t his close friend, and his close friends love him for obvious reasons (cause we’re friends). So everyone made a huge deal about how he’s PERFECT for the role, and blah blah blah, and I kinda silently disagreed but I wanted to suppose my friend so I was like “yeah! You totally deserved it! Good for you!”
This other guy though kinda got irrationally angry that he was given the supporting lead (he’s definitely an asshole regardless of whether or not I am) and even quit the show… even though he got a big part. And then he started talking trash about my friend and saying he wasn’t talented?
But when that guy talked to me (weird decision considering everyone knows we’re really close), he said, “my acting was literally so much better for that role. I SHOULD have gotten the role.” And I said, “yeah. My friend really would have been better in the other role. I agree.”
And then he went on to say, “my acting is so much better than his anyway.” And I didn’t straight up agree, but my response was, “well, you know politics plays a huge role in these things.” Which definitely didn’t deny what he said. (And my friend actually is disproportionately benefited by director politics bc he takes private lessons from our choreographer, so I wasn’t WRONG—but I wasn’t being the good friend I should have been either.)
So I sorta feel like I told this other guy, who probably didn’t get the main lead bc of politics/being a nightmare to work with (probably both, tho the second is less likely since he got a big role anyway?) that he was right about my friend, even though my friend really is talented and I never MEANT to imply that he wasn’t. But I think I did.
I’m happy for my friend getting the lead. And I’m not sorry for thinking he would have been better cast in the other role. But…something feels icky about telling him he’s perfect for the role and then telling his rival that he would have been better for the role.
I don’t know. Let me have it if I need it, tumblr. AITA?

(for context, you had this crush on Bill, but never thought he was the type to get into relationships so you were trying hard to distance yourself, but little did you know there was much to be reciprocated)
It was a Saturday morning and you were woken up by the laughter of 4 teen boys downstairs. You instantly knew your brother, Gustav, had his friends over. You tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't so you put a pair of shorts on with a tank top and groggily walk down stairs to the living room where the boys sat.
"Look who's awake!" the bassist of the band joked, "why the hell are you guys being so loud at 7am on a Saturday??" I asked, clearly sounding annoyed. "We were not!" your brother exclaimed, "Then explain why I could hear you all the way upstairs and over my t.v." they all pointed at Tom and he put his arms up in surprise at how they would throw him under the bus like that. "It's not my fault, I just thought it was funny how easily Bill got worked up when we told him it was obvious the he-" Georg quickly slapped his hand over Toms mouth, making me send him a confused glance. "You guys are weird.." I said walking to the kitchen to get breakfast.
As I pull out a bowl from the cabinet, I hear hushed chatter and someone whisper yelling "go, go, go!". I ignore it and grab the cereal I wanted and poured it into bowl, out of the corner of my eye, I see Bill walk in the kitchen. "uh hey, [name]" I turn to look at him before getting the milk, "Hi, Bill. What's up?" I say with a smile. "I'm sorry we woke you" I look at him and chuckle, "It's all good, I probably shouldn't be sleeping in anyway. Wouldn't wanna miss the chance to say Hi to you guys". Bill smiles, "Is that all you came in here to say?" I felt slightly disappointed until he walked closer to me and spoke again "Uhm.. actually I need to get something off my chest," I nod as he hesitates, "so.. I wont lie, I've been putting this off for a couple years now, but ever since we met I felt this overwhelming admiration towards you and at first I didn't think anything of it, because I assumed it would go away eventually and I couldn't really tell how you felt, but I just want you to know that.. I like you. Hell, I might even love you, [name].." My cheeks got heated and my eyes widened, causing him to look even more tense. "Look, it's okay if you don-" I snapped out of my daze "No, no, no, Bill I've had a crush on you for so long now. You have no clue!" he smiled widely and ran to hug me. "You have no idea how relieved I am!!" I exclaimed. His soft brown eyes looked contently into my (y/e/c) ones and he slowly leaned in, I closed the rest of the space as our lips finally met. It felt amazing, I could've done this forever.
We soon walked back into the living room hand in hand and when the other 3 boys saw, the started cheering and clapping. "Finally, the tension is over" Gustav sighed in relief, "Yeah now there will be a different kind of tension~" Tom said smirking and sipping his drink. Me and Bill blushed and sat down to engage in conversation, finally happy we were able to express our feelings to each other.

But WHY is cas obsessed with gortash specifically
hmm okay so to me it’s a combination of a few things let me try to get it all, I’ll add onto this if I forget some major dynamic!
Firstly, it’s that Cas just kinda admires the way he is, the cruelty, the way he enjoys making people hate him, the disregard for most people around him while still having a sense of honesty and lawfulness, if that makes sense. The way that he’s manipulative but there’s room to have proper business with him too. The arrogance and superiority with which he carries himself that at the same time was never disrespectful or applied in the same way to Cas himself. It always kind of…. reminded him of his own kind honestly, and even if Cas himself is less like most devils than Gortash is in this manner it still gave him a sense of familiarity almost even so far away from his home. This plus the inherent superiority he feels over mortals usually but it’s almost like… “hmm this one isn’t so unlike my kind” with Gortash which is why he even agreed to deal with him in the first place, because he never quite just saw him as “some mortal”. He also, even if he’d never admit this, is really drawn to the way that Gortash can manage to be dominant in public even next to CAS out if all people. how he still manages to be the assertive one, the sweet talker, the way he takes control in any type of social gathering naturally etc (some inherent introvert thing going on here w Cas honestly LMFAOO)
Secondly, I suppose there’s this whole underlying dynamic of them complementing each other really well in their approaches and their goals, making them pretty much perfect business partners so Cas was always intrigued by that. Guy that can tell u the ins and outs of how to physically harm torture and manipulate living beings and guy that makes evil inventions and machinations, you get the gist…. 🙏
Something about having a guy proudly mansplain his machinations to the literal devil from the bible . I suppose part of him always found the audacity endearing. sorry😭
And then lastly there is the physical aspect with the fact that they are just really…. different. Cas basically had the importance of physical appearance ingrained in his mind due to his past, everything that happened to him, good or bad, was more or less due to the way he looked so he obviously leaned into that more and more throughout his life, making him incredibly vain and almost…. overly protective of his own body, if that makes sense? With that in mind you then have Gortash, who very much isn’t conventionally attractive the same way that Cas is and clearly doesn’t care about it much either. Gortash to me is a person that only cares about his appearance when it reflects his power and status in some way, so… his clothing and jewelry, the rest? He bends the public eye to see him as he pleases anyways.
So, in a way Gortash is everything that Cas never had the luxury of not caring about, the complete opposite of the many things that Cas holds himself to such high standards over, which is exactly what makes Cas be so drawn to and attracted to that tbh, almost in a taboo-way

Anyways i think Cas’ obsession with him stems from a certain degree of intrigue of “who the hell does this little Lord think he is to talk to me” as well as admiration for his work at the same time for being so… unlike what he does himself. Same thing as with the whole physical attraction topic, Cas likes him for just being so unlike himself yet similar in past experiences and cruelty. The way they manage to complement yet also understand each other. The way he sees Gortash’s nature as “above” the one of other mortals due to it reminding him of devils. Oh and I suppose he’s also just in love with him let’s not overlook that. Cas didn’t try to do whole ass infernal rituals on himself multiple times so he’d stop finding Gortash appealing for me to ignore this😭😭

how would you go about designing a sona-adjacent character for splatoon? I know I’m going with octoling bc I play as them exclusively and this is more a character made from my ingame avatar, but everything else has me indecisive.. sorry I know this is a vague question but I’m interested in hearing your thoughts
this is a cool question! I struggled with this for a really long time and have had MANY sona designs (which either got trashed or became separate characters over time). Really i think how you approach a sona is different for every person. sorry if this is incoherent as i'm typing at 6am from bed
So basically first thing is what are you planning on using the character for? For example in my case when I used to try making splatoon sonas I made them *too much* like me to the point where i didn't like them and they didn't really fit in the world or were interesting at all. But that's just talking personality-wise. I could make an extremely bland octopus guy who doesnt play Turf War or ever go anywhere but it's also like, what is even the point of having a Splatoon sona at that point. What you want to use your sona for kind of affects how they would ideally be in my opinion.
So the way I ended up designing my sona (Koira) was to have us share traits but not have them specifically BE me, which is an approach that I find works really well in creating a connection to a character while still letting them be a character of their own. I would refer to it as more like making a self-insert character to control in a setting rather than physically being there and feeling confined to being yourself if that makes sense? it probably doesnt. But the self-insert player character is kinda what you already do in Splatoon anyway.
I find it a good approach to go with a mix of aspects that are accurate to you but combined with things that are kind of out there. Then you can have a character that's still interesting and appealing to you and might seem similar enough at face value to be relatable, while not being like, super boring. I don't remember my exact design process with Koira, I wanted the design to be silly and stand out and be relatable to how I play the game and approach the series, while at the same time not being confined to what I would realistically do or be like. Like I do not own a labcoat in real life, or mismatched boots, or round shades.
But I DO own a pair of broken shades i found from a trash can, and in the context of being an avid squid researcher online I felt it would be very fitting to make my in-universe guy an actual squid scientist, and i WISH i had shoes like that because theyre pretty cool. And he has split ends because I DO have split ends (there are so many), but i don't have blonde hair. I picked yellow because it's my favorite color. I would NOT touch turf wars with a ten foot pole if i actually existed in the splatoon world and was the same person there that i am in real life, but like, in the context of Splatoon i might as well have my Splatoon guy represent some aspect of my gameplay experience, hence they own like every weapon but don't really play. Et cetera.
So really again people have different preferences with how to approach making a sona, or sona-adjacent characters like you said, personally the Player Character approach tends to work pretty well for me. I try to reflect my real physical in-the-flesh self less, because that's kind of boring (i literally already exist), and go for the more exaggerated version where some aspects represent me but it's not Literally Me. Like, I'm trying to make What If I Was An Octoling, and not What If An Octoling Looked Like Me The Human. The process of how to get there is a little patchy and again, probably different for everybody, and bear in mind that you might make a sona and not like it and start from scratch. That might happen 5 times. That might happen 10 times. You still learn something more about the process every time.
Here's some questions I can present to help with sona designing...
1. What are some traits that I think reflect myself? How can I include those in the character design?
2. In tandem with the previous question; what species should I pick? (You already picked Octoling, so this one is a bit obsolete - but it's worth thinking about for people who struggle to pick.)
3. If I existed in the Splatoon world, what would I probably, somewhat realistically be doing with my life? What kind of job or hobbies would I have? Can that be reflected in the design?
4. Do I care about any of the above stuff or do I just want to come up with something original? Could I use some of my answers to work with and fill in the blanks with other things that are just cool?
5. How would the ways I play Splatoon be reflected if translated to an in-universe character? (For example, based on how I play, my game-realistic Splatsona would just be a full-time Salmon Runner...)
6. Do I want to use in-game gearsets, or reference the kind of style I prefer in real life, or maybe come up with something unique?
7. Can my main weapon or playstyle be directly equated to my character's personality or appearance? Do I want their personality to be game-accurate, real life accurate or somewhere in between?
8. Finding inspiration through your player character's Badges, Banner and Title that you currently have; what do those say about the player? Or what about the locker?
9. What are some things I love about the setting of Splatoon that I could reflect in a sona or self insert? (For example I made mine an in-universe Inkling researcher to reflect my own obsessiveness about Inkling biology. And squid suckers. I have a dried squid in a minigrip bag on my shelf)
10. The obligatory step in any character design: Can i do something to make it fun or appealing to myself? Adding some flavor.
Aside from all that and I definitely forgot SOMETHING, my general character design tip is do not expect the first draft to be the final perfect result. I watched a video once that said to draw every character design Three Times before 'finalizing' it and it works EXTREMELY well when youre whipping up a character basically from scratch and have an idea in your head, but on paper, you just need some kind of first draft to see if that idea works. The second and third iterations usually help trim out whatever didnt work in the earlier designs and when you keep making more, the parts that DO work are solidified and refined over time.
Rule number 2: if you make a sona design and don't like it, ask yourself why. Then change it! It's not the time to start some kind of self reflecting journey, maybe you just want a more interesting haircut than what you have in real life and you can totally do that if you're bold (my hair is brown, I didn't want the splatoon to have brown hair when like half the point of the game is Neon Color). Maybe you want bright pink eyes. Maybe you want a ridiculous job that you could never do in real life but that would make your character way more interesting. Maybe you want to give them a pet slug because you would LOVE ONE in real life but dont have one, and that would complete the character.

this post is literally for me and like 5 dutch girlies only but i hate viaplay with soooo much of my body and i've been praying for their downfall daily and...
it's been working.
okay context for anyone who cares: ziggo used to own the rights to f1 in the NL. they didn't do a 10/10 job, but they were fun. the interviews are iconic, drivers just liked them, hell i still see clips/gifs with that bright orange ziggo mic every day. sure, jack asked questions that weren't always fitting and may have made drivers uncomfortable from time to time - my biggest annoyance w him - and olav wasn't flawless in his commentary. but they understood the most important thing in the content they made:
f1 is supposed to be entertaining.
i've said before - but that's a whole other post - that stefano domenicali should take this sport more seriously as a sport and that reporters should take it less seriously and see it as entertainment.
ziggo understood that. with formula one cafe before and after each race to talk with fellow dudes about the race: they knew people wanted to be entertained and they did that. there was beer on the table, champagne when max won the championship, they had a special dude to show everyone memes about f1, they had guys that truly understood f1 (former drivers like robert doornbos, giedo van de garde, tom and unfortunately tim coronel and some other dudes who came too rarely for me to remember names) or other types of motorsport (hello jeffrey herlings!) but mostly: they had fun. robert doornbos, guy w great sense of humour but also a big ego lmao, took the piss on host rob kampues who also took the piss on robert doornbos. they just didn't take everything too seriously: they provided entertainment.

in comes viaplay, start of 2022 season. prices were €10 per month at the time. viaplay was new to everyone: it didn't exist in the NL prior to this. they, aside from f1, also barely had anything on their platform. bit by bit came shows, but, like, nothing too spectacular.
viaplay started off wrong on all accounts. where ziggo f1 cafe was a place with one long table where people sat, beer on the table, a bar in the background and a few people sitting all around (left photo), viaplay's studio looked horribly cold. bright bright lights (a hospital has a more cozy vibe) and the hosts were standing (right photo).
they also got the most humourless people. i mentioned giedo before and, sorry my guy, i've never caught you making a joke before. and christijan alberts - also former f1 driver - is soooo full of himself and also doesn't have a sense of humor. so anyway. i very quickly decided to only use viaplay for the race and turn it on not sooner than the formation lap and not later than 'we're going back to the studio' was even fully said.
eventually, they did move to a table where they sat at but the vibes were still all off. a fridge is warmer. a freezer is warmer. (before anyone comes at me: i like amber ok. she's doing her best. she's been given absolutely shit context to work in. she really rises to the occasion when she's with literally anyone else. that video with max and jos and mika and whatever? she was spicy there. so good. but noooo they but self-centered mansplainer christijan and can't make a joke giedo and ego too big for the room tim coronel next to her. can't expect someone to work when they've got broken tools ok).
they hire commentators who keep literally sucking max's dick in their commentaries. he cannot do anything wrong in their eyes. if he does they blame it on something else. look. olav wasn't objective, but he was just a man with a hobby who got a platform. christijan alberts who literally criticised ziggo for being too subjective about max is literally sitting at that desk in viaplay watching two guys with HORRIBLE voices* talk overly loving about max even when the guy just does his thing. hilarious.
*how! and i really emphasize how!!!! can you hire people with horrible voices when their PRIMARY TASK is to be listened to. why did no one think, huh. these guys are not pleasant to listen to. maybe we should NOT put them in the commentary box.
god i've never in the past year and a half seen, like, a clip from a viaplay interview bc the question was funny or the interviewer joked around. the drivers are funny on their own but when nothing sparks them we'll get the same answer in seven different interviews in the media pen that no one wants. let alone the drivers.
but those are things, like, sure. whatever.
then they added a sponsorship: i think a sports betting place. 'this broadcast was sponsored by' or whatever. i do not pay €10 per month to watch ads. i pay it to be ad free. it's the basis of a subscription.
why would they need ads, you ask?
well viaplay has terrible priorities. as seen before, but they chose one even worse priority.
they sponsor max, prominently.
that decision alone is fine! right. no issues there. but not when you can't really afford it. not at the expense of your subscribers. not when i would personally fund max's sponsorship. i'll buy merch ok! fuck off!
BUT NOW COMES THE FUN PART.
viaplay has been steadily losing subscribers! we love to hear it!
in 2022 they made a €60 million profit. in 2023 they're losing €570 million euros. losing. five hundred and seventy. million. they're firing a quarter of their employees.
gee! i wonder what choices you could make to better prioritise this and to keep bringing quality content you aim for and ---
they decide to rise their subscription prices.
€16 per month. that's a 60% raise (right?). bro.
and! they're cutting off all the other series they had on viaplay and now primarily focus on sport. they're closing their Polish, Canadian US and UK departments (you're not missing anything).
rumours had spread that maybe they'd need to sell the rights to f1 for 2024 but unfortunately they said that wasn't necessary. rn they still have 7 million subscribers. why are you people still subscribed. f1tv is cheaper and even there you can listen to the horrible voices of those two commentators who's names i never bothered to remember.
simplest thing for them would be to stop sponsoring max lmao. but they'll lose literally all relevance then so i doubt they ever will. cancelling and moving onto f1tv was the best decision i ever made. praying for their downfall too. can't wait to see my besties rob kamphues and certified cheater (but at least he's got a sense of humour!) robert doornbos talking about the race and jack plooij joking around with the dudes and olav mol being interrupted in his monologue because max decided to be a little shit again. they were passionate about the sport. everything they did lived and breathed the whole if-you-like-your-work-you'll-never-work-a-day-in-your-life thing. they had fun! jack plooij is a literal dentist who just likes f1 so he somehow rolled into the pit reporter job. rob kamphues is a comedian. they all had their love for f1 in common and were just fanboying on live television and that was fun.
i just miss ziggo man.

Vernal was so aarhhhhgggg not bad but it was so... Traditional Wuxia which I thought I would be happy to read but bruh. they played every trope a bit too straight imo. i think the main thing that stuck with me was the crazy levels of filial piety which isn't a bad thing per se but come on. waaifu's dad. shakes my head i think ya01 should have destroyed him. i think wei should also have been bedridden bare minimum or something from the early encounter just from main story karma. only rat king gets to go scot free cause hes actually a nice dad to lin so i guess it makes sense she's like no no 'i'll continue the family business' i remember reading the story for the first time and being like (woozy emoji) over lin saying she'll take over because it was so.. girl youre probably not even 25 yet and you just put on some heavy af shackles which was so very 'the Right thing to do' great character flaw(?) for someone supposedly morally 'Not Good' i suppose
this avengers ahh looking CG... everytime i think about the context its just SIGH they really just girlies gang up!! and then Ya just 'aight cya' maybe im just salty du yaoye isn't in it and still isn't playable just undercooked as fuck banger image but weak setup and payoff there was no satisfaction to be gained other than 'nice art' (for me)

I’ve figured it out! I’ve been saying for many months now that it’s fucking weird how much Sam Campbell looks exactly like a certain, very common type of wrestler I know. Specifically, the guys in the smaller categories, guys who compete at 57-ish kilos in university but you know they were competing at 44 or smaller when they were in high school. All those guys have this really specific look, down to clothing and hairstyle but also it’s about their build and facial structure, and I did not even realize how specific the look was until I saw Sam Campbell and realized it’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone outside the sport with that look. It looks so weird to me to see it out of its normal context.
Anyway, I think this part of that article explains it:
“I was very small growing up” – a feature he thinks contributed to his pursuing comedy. “My parents were legitimately going to give me horse hormones to make me grow, because I was really small for a long time.”
Ohhh… that’s what it is. Wrestling is the sport of guys who were too small as a child/teenager. I think I know four people who have specifically told me they were put on hormones growing up because they were too small, and I think of a lot of other people who probably were or almost were, I just don’t know them well enough for them to have told me.
One of my good friends, a few years ago, who was a couple of years younger than me and had a massively successful competitive career before joining our team as a coach, told me that that’s exactly why he started. This guy was successful enough to have made promo videos, to advertise the national team’s international runs and things, where he talked about how he loved the sport since he was a kid. One day at the pub after practice, he told me that’s not why he got into it at all. He got into it because in high school, the girls didn’t like him since he was too small, and his parents had to put him on hormones just to keep him barely big enough to be healthy, and he had to have something to make girls like him despite his size, and all the sports besides wrestling required people to be big. Wrestling was the only sport with weight classes, where anyone could join because they’d be matched up with people their own size no matter how small they were. The average wrestler is much shorter than the average person outside the sport, because it’s where the small people can go.
Anyway, that’s the look Sam Campbell has, and that’s why it was so familiar to me. The look of a guy who was off-the-charts small when he was young, and then grew into someone who’s just a normal level of smaller-than-average. There’s a specific build that guys like that have, which is different from guys who are a normal level of small as adults because they were a normal level of small as teenagers. The proportions are different.
…I genuinely don’t know if it’s fucked up for me to write a post going into this much detail about a stranger’s physical features. Hanging out on Tumblr may have skewed my perspective of what’s appropriate. So sorry if this is a weird thing to say. But I am truly pleased to have solved a mystery. He looks familiar because he’s one of those guys! One of those guys who used to be much too small and now he’s just small, but in a way where you can still kind of tell he used to be much too small! Those guys! Cool! I like those guys! Some of my best friends are those guys!
I guess if you’re that guy in high school and you’re not interesting in sports, you try comedy instead. Good for him.
The rest of the article is quite interesting as well, explaining how he ended up where he is in comedy. The thing I've chosen to focus on is really the least interesting part. It's worth a read.

So, I sort of agree with what people have been saying about Jensen sounding bitter when he makes jokes that seem like digs on Jared, especially when he isn’t present. Because of his actions with the prequel, it definitely makes any jabs feel like they come from a place of resentment, which they certainly might. There is a time or two where I think they really were. However, at comic con, he and Mark were joking about Jared, and it seems very clear that Mark holds Jared in high regard. We also haven’t seen a whole panel, so it’s hard to know the full context.
Jensen also makes jokes that that seem like digs at Misha. And I would say he does it more frequently than he does at Jared. He makes them when Misha is there and behind his back. Yet, I don’t see people calling him a bitter asshole when he does that. There was even a con where I felt like his teasing went a bit into the overkill territory, where Misha didn’t look like he was enjoying it, and I don’t normally really mind seeing Misha brought down a peg.
Anyway, my point with all this is, Jared is not the only person Jensen makes jokes at the expense of, so I’m not sure it’s always because of bitterness with Jared, so much as he’s just that type of guy. People certainly don’t have to like that about him, but for me it’s hard to judge if it’s truly coming from a place of anger at Jared or just going for whatever laugh he can get. Again, not saying that’s a good quality, just that it might not be intended maliciously.
People do a lot of projecting onto to broth Jared and Jensen, but at the end of the day, we can’t actually know either of their motivations in full. People say Jared doesn’t like Jensen anymore, and he’s the main reason Jared seems to be moving away from CE cons. Maybe, but maybe it’s just a good career move. People say Jensen is mad at jared for succeeding more than him, so his every joke is based on bitterness, and his every nice action is just a manipulation. Maybe, but they do have years of shared history and experience and good time too.
At this point Jared Stans are starting to use the kind of “bad faith” interpretation that AAs have been using for years. Everything the J we don’t like does gets interpreted in the worst possible way. Don’t get me wrong, Jared stans still aren’t anywhere near as bad as AAs because they don’t tag Jensen on their posts, wish for death on anyone, or attack on mass when someone shows appreciation for Jensen on Twitter or wherever. But, looking at someone from the worst possible light all the time leaves us open to misunderstandings and assumptions.
Sorry, if I’m coming off preachy or something. That’s not my intention, especially when I agree that Jensen has been acting a bit douchey, but I also don’t think he’s the devil with nothing but bad intentions.
Ugh, I don’t know if I got my thoughts across clearly on this post. I’m not trying to tell people what to think, just remind everyone not to .. assume the worst in every situation.
Anyway, feel free not to post of this comes off wrong.

You are correct that we all interpret things based on our own opinions/biases, and at the end of the day, what's missing is the understanding of the motivation behind certain actions, words, etc. So, at best, we're opining on incomplete information.
I'm glad you're able to see things from a larger perspective, particularly in regards to the way Jensen jokes about other people, in addition to Jared. I'm with you in that I find that style of joking distasteful, particularly when the person isn't there to joke back. It feels like laughing at that person rather than with that person. It's almost reminiscent of the playground bully teasing other kids in front of a group in order to build themselves up while hiding their own insecurities. (Yeah... I probably projected there, lol.)
Anyway, I do appreciate you writing in and perhaps it might help others consider how and why they see things a certain way. Perhaps they'll stick with their opinions, or perhaps they'll adjust some of them, but either way, you've provided another perspective to consider, so thank you!

thank you so much bub!! regarding the questions: the boys will surely come around to knowing since they kinda know yoongi's somehow associated with the vipers (in some way shape or form) and there's a low chance they'll react badly. our girl went through a series of physical torture so it'll take some time for her to heal. there will be a brief description of what happens to her body when she wakes up and sees herself -- i didn't go too into details with it though. also yes! yoongi and y/n are very similar to one another. i think it'd be really cool if i wrote a scene where yoongi does gets angry and for y/n because out of all the boys, he's a composed man who doesn't get easily triggered so..just imagine it oop-. he's a good man overall, and even back in chapter one when their relationship was falling apart, yoongi didn't actively engage in verbally tormenting y/n, though his absence and silence most definitely had hurt her a lot.
of the boys, there are three quiet men who prefers their silence, all of them having chosen to be that way mostly due to how they were raised as children. these boys are yoongi, taehyung, and jungkook. perhaps i'll elaborate it further in the series itself but basically:
with yoongi, there's already a bit of context with him. he grew up being silenced and invisible so he's used to be quiet for the most part. he's a sincere man but does have a difficult time expressing his emotions (he's good at showing his lovers that he cares for them though, yoongi's kinda like a word of affirmation type of guy, ironically) -- emotions like the flawed part of being a human: anger, upset, sadness, etc.
we got a little bit of taehyung during the london arc. he's a hacker so he's mostly holed up in his lab and prefers not to socialize with the human population, so he's the type to be silent and observant rather than joining in the crowd and conversing. he's not someone who will feel the need to fill up the silence of a room and for the most part when he's with y/n (back when they were still together), they were always comfortable in their silence together. the two of them kinda just knows what's on the other's mind without having to say a thing
as with jungkook, there's not much around him just yet but if you look back at the flashback with the boys' pov (chapter 16), there was something jin said to namjoon during one of their disputes, saying "jungkook has gone completely silent" and that indicated a bit of his relationship with y/n, it being the fact that he was more open and talkative when y/n was around. you'll come to see in future chapters that y/n and jungkook relied on each other a lot back in the days. he loved her mostly through actions but always tried his best to speak up and change for the better for her, and when y/n left their life, it took some time to have jungkook coming back from being so silent.
there's only been one chapter to sum up the feelings of the boys and how the divorce of namjoon and y/n affected them but all in all, it most definitely hurt them in more than one way.
sorry i went on a whole rant omg, this is too long, but maybe you enjoyed reading a bit of context around three particular boys 😭

Yeah, this section is in CB3, under the 'その後' / 'Thereafter' section! I think people don't talk about it much because it's basically just a recap of what's happened in the manga, so there aren't any 'juicy' new tidbits.

I’ve highlighted in yellow the word ‘憧れて’, which directly translates to ‘long for’, but is really more used in the context of deep respect and admiration. So, in this case, we can say that Ran really looked up to Izana and Kakucho and maybe even aspired to be like them (which is probably why he said ‘I’ll see to it closely, the way you guys lived’).
So, unfortunately for the IzaRan shippers, it isn’t romantic. 😅
On this note, I’ve always wondered about the meaning behind Ran’s line in this (about seeing through Izana / Kakucho’s way of living), and this CB3 segment gave me more context by highlighting that Ran admired them precisely because he’s lived through the delinquent world as well.
It’s still pretty vague about what part of their way of living he admired precisely, though. Their bond and loyalty? Their steadfastness towards the Tenjiku goal? The Tenjiku goal itself? Or all of these, in spite of how terrible the delinquent world is?
CB3 states that Kakucho is the person Ran respects (it only mentions Kakucho, not Izana). Kakucho’s top defining qualities are his loyalty to Izana, his strength, and that he’s actually honorable and morally upright. Therefore, Ran’s line implies that he aspires towards at least one of these traits. Well, Ran already has a strong bond and loyalty to Rindou so he’s not lacking in that. As for strength, the S-62 and Izana are already notably strong fighters in their own right, so it’s not necessary that Ran should look towards Kakucho for that. (Besides, Ran doesn’t strike me as the type to care much about physical strength anyway.)
The most likely quality he admires then is Kakucho’s steadfast honor. Ran’s craftiness and underhanded tactics are one of his (and his brother’s) trademarks, so he’s well aware that’s the kind of person he is. I’m taking that he deeply respects that Kakucho is still righteous at heart despite all the horrible things that gangsters must do to survive. I don’t think Ran necessarily strives to renounce his scummy ways immediately and be a ‘good’ person though (not at this point in his life, at least). I think it’s more like he acknowledges it’s a special thing, and probably a part of him wonders if he too can live like that. But that’s also a start, I suppose!

Hi everyone, sorry I look like a mess this was a hard day but the finals are over so if you want a little self care, relaxing time with me, grab your snack and sit down. I got some sleep tea with me. *start putting rollers on* So yeah basically things got very complicated at Weston. -I'm putting this brand of night leave in for my hair- For those who don't know, I had a little... controversy, I'm not the prefect's fag anymore. But also the Prefects got kicked out for weird accusations and they became a boysband or something. *starts cleansing skin* And then the Prefect replacements, they left unprovoked and they ALSO became a boysband... So everything is really chaotic. *applies tonic*. You know.. I didn't talk too much about it but... Ugh my face is so puffy tonight... anyway. *applies like, 5 types of night serum* the boy who like, put me out of my job basically, that is the worst of it, he literally disappeared ? It's like he literally came to specifically ruin my life and go, like who does that ? I don't know, he just... left and I guess I have to live without closure *uses a quartz roller on on his face*. It was soo traumatic I had to take a week off back home *puts lip mask on*. At least some good came out of it, because the guy who destroyed my bedroom ? Check my "My Roommate's Elephant almost killed me Storytime" for context, he left in one of the boysband so I have the room for me now. Why is everyone disappearing ? Whatever he was kind enough but we didn't really match, too high energy. -So this is a cream I was sent by the Funtom Compagny, I don't know how I ended in their PR list but it's a ... Nightcream with natural sweet scent. I'll fully review it soon. Interesting.- So yeah I don't know whats coming next, at least with all of this chaos going on, no one is really focused on me... Idk if we can ask questions about your characters yet, if not feel free to ignore this ask!
I was wondering how your characters feel about physical touch, mostly because after reading the relationship chart I thought about Niall playing with Edmund's hair and grabbing his chin to make him look up at him, but I'm not sure how in character that would be
You can always try asking! I sometimes wouldn’t be able to answer all of it, probably, because of the whole spoiler thing + it’s still work in progress, so I might just not know the answer myself yet lol or I can tell you one thing and change my mind later.
But this question is nice and easy enough, and I thought about it myself, so we’re both lucky.
Niall is someone who would use physical touch to make a point rather than express his true feelings. His is flirty with other students, but keeps his distance both because of the school rules and his own desire to keep an appearance of a somewhat inapproachable idol. His touch should feel special to you (like petting your head because you’ve done such a great job), even if he never means it and it’s just a nice way to manipulate you later – an investment, so to speak. Being open about his emotions is kind of a weakness to him? And yet at the same time he doesn’t feel them all that much that he has to constantly suppress them or anything. So, to your question.
Niall and Edmund dislike each other, but Niall doesn’t show it to anyone openly, although there is a slight change in his attitude towards Edmund when they’re alone (or with Ned) – ironically, he’s a little bit more relaxed because Edmund doesn’t buy his bullshit anyway. He doesn’t have to touch him, as he cannot gain anything from it and can’t manipulate his heart in this one, like with others, so he doesn’t do it at all or does it in a more true way to himself – aggressively, less considerately, neglectfully of Edmund’s reaction. That means that he either wouldn’t touch Edmund’s hair at all, since this gesture is very cute, honest, and adorable, something that actual lovers should do, or he would use it to humiliate Edmund. As in “I don’t give a fuck that you hate me, I’m going to touch you as I want” type of way. It’s for private use only, as Niall wouldn’t want it to be misinterpreted by others in a “he has feelings for Edmund” kind of way. With lifting his chin it’s a little bit easier – it’s a dominant gesture that Edmund would absolutely hate, so it can even be elegantly done in public to piss him off more by making himself look like a prince from a fairytale in the eyes of all the other students and making Edmund look like a stupid guy with a crush who should be head over heels about this gift.
So you can use either of those gestures, but the amount of context needed for that is insane lol sorry about that.
We do have a sketch with a character playing with Edmund’s hair, but it’s actually Liam. He’s somewhat flirty by nature and is very good at it, so his hands are all over the place and his manner of presenting himself and interacting can be rather seductive at times lol but he doesn’t really let anyone near him as well, and he never follows up with his advances, so it can be frustrating because you never know if he means it romantically or not. Or even if he’s aware of that. Guess he’s just quirky!
That being said, both Niall and Liam dislike being touched, especially affectionately. They tend to think less of someone so desperate for their attention.
Ned, on the other hand... also doesn’t like being touched all that much, unless he likes that person. Then he’s happy to get any attention from them, although if they don’t give it to him, he’d never complain or care. He’s much more honest with his body language than Niall, but it doesn’t include anything flirty or romantic – he grabs, manhandles, and throws you around a lot lol Not elegant and he doesn’t even try. He also doesn’t think much about how the person would feel about this treatment, but even if they complain, his body would still react faster than he would realise “oh yeah that hurts, i forgot”. He’s very rough overall, but he has a cute habit of grabbing his crush’s clothes and slightly pulling them when he’s shy or embarrassed or needs them to stay even before he realises he wants them to stay or something like that. I guess sometimes he can do cute romantic gestures, but unconsciously.
And now to Edmund, the guy who just receives all this treatment lmao I’ll most likely write him as someone who doesn’t express his feelings with touching others at all, and for everything he gets from the others it is more on the “I guess that’s how they feel about me” side of things. Doesn’t mean he can’t feel pain or get shy when Liam breathes into his ear, but touching isn’t something that he cares about or wants to do to others. this will be so unserious because if i try to take this seriously i will spontaneously combust
Okay first some terms and explanations:
Venemagiks (pronounced with a g as in good)—people who are born part human, part magical creature. Their traits can vary from as mild as having some cool horns, to as severe as having their skeleton on the outside, same with magical abilities. For some it's a blessing, for a some a curse, 'cause they'd rather not catch fire in direct sunlight, you get me!!
Transmutation—I know you know what transmutation is, but in the context of this story, it works by deconstructing material at the molecular level and thus is more science than magic, really
Human transmutation—pretty self-explanatory, but important note: it is ILLEGAL!! because it's TOO DIFFICULT!! the chances of success are so astronomically low that you'll probably kill whoever you're trying to transmute so it is AGAINST THE LAW to even TRY!!
Magia (again with that same g)—the physical element in the air using which people can Do Magic
There are three types of casters: mages—academics who've studied the discipline and have a license to wield a magia conductor, 'cause otherwise you can't Do Magic; priests—they're devoted to certain deities and have access to magia through them (these communities rarely mix); freecasters—mostly some magical creatures that are innate spellcasters and can just Do Magic through their bodies, and some venemagiks can also inherit this trait

well he was right and thus became the first ever Former venemagik
can't really hide that fact so the academy he was part of was like ">:000 ok you did it to urself so we're gonna let u off with a warning BUT YOU GOT LUCKY AND DON'T ATTEMPT THIS SHIT ON OTHERS"
guess what he did lmao
anyways things did go wrong eventually, because of course they did, and he got the ye olde exile hammer
it was either that or execution for his crimes so... i mean....
oh boy did it this whole thing give him trauma tho aha :)
he swears off ever doing this shit again, some years pass, a cute boy comes along, asks for help really really nicely, and, well, you know
and then HE DIES
but don't worry he gets better
anyways he's a bit of a bastard man, 'it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission', absolutely in love with said cute boy (coming up) and that uh causes some problems, his sense of humor involves threats of medical malpractice
i initially planned for him to be the deuteragonist but then i got obsessed and so he got promoted
some general info: trans guy, 28-29, blind without his glasses, comes from high society, pastel palette (prefers pink for hair), lost an arm in the Incident

also he doesn't need to breathe, eat, or drink because of it, 'cause the parasite wants his body to remain alive....
doesn't mean he doesn't feel the need to, because i'm evil sorry
his past isn't as dramatic, he lived in a secluded community established and ran by his mom, consisting purely of venemagiks that feel unsafe living with the general population because of their quirks and stuff
he did have to run away from it, though, 'cause his mom is vehemently against seeking any mages or priests out for help (because of....reasons....)
anyways he manages to convince Quil to help him yay
falls for Quil very hard, he's obsessed (affectionate)
an artist, loves to play the piano, draw (when uh he was able to see at least), learns how to cook for Quil too 'cause god knows he does not feed himself well, also a big cat enthusiast (adopts the first stray he comes across rip)
he is also illiterate
so basically this dynamic is 'guy who has an entire library in his basement and is obsessed with books x guy who does not know how to fucking read'
some general info: cis guy, 24-25, tall, wears mostly simple earthy clothing, (dark) hair bun gang
next time i'm gonna go over some other relevant characters that play major roles in the present timeline, 'cause what i talked about here mostly concerns the past one lol

Strawberry Moon ~ Ralph (Timewasters) x fem!Reader
Author’s Note: This is a quick little thing for Ralph because I adore him and love jazz music, so this idea popped into my head. If you like swing music, I was listening to Strawberry Moon by Dennis van Aarssen, a fantastic singer.
Side note for context of the story: Strawberry moons are a real thing, it’s the appearance the full moon takes on in June, the moon takes the color of a ripe strawberry to almost pink. I feel like I have a schoolgirl crush on this guy named Ralph, like good lord.
(I also want to hide this idea in the author’s note so no one holds me accountable, but I have been working on a bridgerton/pride and prejudice type fic with Ralph as the prince in the story and you are an adopted bridgerton daughter. Would anyone be interested???)

Summary: You aren’t much of a party, so when you stepped out of the club for some much-needed air, you didn’t expect anyone to follow you.

You love the music, and the drinks that you have, but the people can be a bit too much in a jazz club. However, you love a good love song no matter how cliche that comes across. You were pulled into a party where you didn’t really know the hosts but your friend, who insisted you come with them.
While you were there, you learned the hosts were Victoria and Ralph, more so Victoria as you watched her chatter with various people. Ralph seemed more reserved than his twin, as you also learned from your friend, as you did your people-watching while listening to the jazz band, you started to notice that Ralph constantly got your attention. He seemed cute and you doubt he was as obnoxious as Victoria is with how throughout the hour you’ve been here every minute seemed to be filled with her shrill voice in the background.
You turned away from your side of the bar that you found yourself grounded to and looked to see if there was a table you could sit at. The only semi-empty one was a table that was situated towards a wall and a man was sitting alone at it. He had these big puppy dog brown eyes and looked to be humming to the song that the jazz band was playing.
You walked over to him and politely introduced yourself to him so as to not startle him. He ends up jumping up anyway and once he saw it was you that got his attention his face almost immediately lit up.
“Oh hello! I’m sorry what did you say?” Ralph asked.
“Sorry, I was just wondering if I could sit here? You don’t have to get up or anything I just didn’t want to sit at the bar anymore,” you explained.
“Oh, of course, I was just sitting here to take a rest from the dancing,” he said brightly gesturing to a seat next to him.
You thanked him gratefully as you sat down your dress flowing under you as you do, and your heels giving a little clack as it hits the chair.
“So what’s your name?” Ralph asked you.
“Oh um, my name is (Y/N). My friend dragged me here to this party,” you stated.
He repeated your name cautiously and then he straightened himself as he smiled at you and said, “What a wonderful name! This is my sister and I’s party, well mostly my sister Victoria’s party than mine.”
“You’re Ralph then?” you asked.
“Yes! Yes, I am,” Ralph exclaimed.
You giggled at his excitement and he just smiled sweetly at you.
“You know you seem very sweet, Ralph. If you ever recover from all that dancing earlier I would be honored if you saved a dance for me,” you said with a shy smile.
“Oh you want to dance with me?” he asked incredulously.
“Yeah of course that’s why I asked.”
“Oh! Oh then we can dance now, I’ve been sitting for quite a while now, I think I’ve saved enough energy to dance with you,” he said excitedly almost jumping from his seat.
He offered his arm for you to take as you got up, you gave him a bright smile in return which he returned. He spun you onto the dance floor as the jazz band transitioned into a swing song. You laughed as he began to these silly moves all around you. You offered your hand to him as you begin to lead him into an energetic dance as the band was in full swing. Both of you were grinning ear to ear throughout the whole time you were dancing.
When the song did end you were both completely breathless at the energy you both put into that one dance that you began to giggle to yourselves as you thanked him for the lovely dance.
“You are most welcome. That was a splendid dance, I would love to have another dance with you before the night ends,” he told you and you accepted eagerly.
There was something about this well-dressed and polite man that’s got you crushing hard on him already. As you started to realize this you felt yourself get hotter and more flustered at how you were falling for this man that was standing just a couple of inches away from you.
“I’m gonna go outside for a little bit, I’m all hot from the dancing,” you told him.
“Oh let me escort you out then,” he said.
“I don’t think that’s necessary,” you began.
“I insist,” he said with a determined look.
“Alright, let’s go then,” you conceded.

You made out to the back of the club and onto the railing looking over a river. You sat on a bench nearby and took a deep breath of the fresh air of the night, leaning onto your hands. Ralph repeats your movements but gets startled as he looked up at the sky, and you look to see where he was looking and saw the moon was a pinkish hue.
“What happened to the moon?” Ralph asked almost in awe.
“I heard it’s called a strawberry moon,” you tell him.
“Really?” he questioned.
As you turned to look at him you notice just how breathtaking he looked, especially in the moonlight, and caught yourself staring at his lips for a brief second. You felt yourself getting hot like in the club and turned yourself back to look at the moon as you nodded at his answer.
Then you leaned a little closer to him bumping shoulders with him conspiratorially as you said, “I heard that a strawberry moon helps to prosper young love.”
“That’s amazing,” he said softly almost shyly.
“Yeah,” you said and you saw him look at your lips but you thought it was a trick of the light at first.
“Can I try something?” he asked and you saw him looking flustered.
“Yeah,” you said.
He then softly placed both of his hands on either side of your face and he looked at you with such a tooth-achingly sweet look that you just melted in his hands. Ralph leaned in and gave you an oh-so-soft kiss on your lips and you leaned into the kiss almost as soon as he went to give you the kiss. It was just a soft peck of the lips but you knew you were hooked on Ralph, because as soon as he was pulling away.
You put a hand on Ralph’s neck as you echoed his words, “Can I try something?”
When Ralph eagerly nodded you dove into capturing his lips in a more impassioned kiss and he almost immediately started kissing you back. You both started to move closer together to further the kiss, and you felt like your heart was on fire by how gentle Ralph was being even with him passionately kissing you. You both had to pull away as you were getting breathless and as you looked up at him, you felt pulled under by his lovesick eyes.
“I think you might be my strawberry moon,” he whispered to you.
It took you a moment for your brain to click on what he meant when you realized what you told him earlier when you first echoed in your mind.
Young love. A strawberry moon symbolized young love.
You wished Ralph still didn’t have his hands on you even though it felt ridiculously nice, because you know he could feel you getting flustered under his hands.
“Too much?” he whispered.
“No not at all, Ralph,” you whispered back.
How fitting to kiss under a strawberry moon when this wonderful feeling feels just as sweet as a real strawberry. How fitting, how beautiful.
Young love it may be, and you were thankful for your friend to drag you to a party just this once, so you could meet a man as sweet as Ralph. You couldn’t think much more as Ralph was dragging you further into a deep heart-burning kiss.
