I thought it was hilarious, at first, that everyone’s decided Doomguy is still the protagonist of MyHouse.wad. After all, it doesn’t really have much more to do with Doom than gmod has to do with Half-Life 2. But then I remembered, isn’t that a plot point of Doom II? Visiting the burnt out ruins of your hometown on your way to the portal to Hell? Why couldn’t Doomguy take a few minutes to have a nightmare of an emotional journey in a childhood friend’s home to come to terms with everyone and everything he ever loved being destroyed?

HOW FAST THE SCENE FLIPPED, HOW QUICKLY- WHATEVER THAT THING (IT DEFINITELY WASN'T THE ACHERON WE KNOW) WAS TOOK THE LEAD and LITERALLY tossed Black Swan around like a helpless bird. a PREDATOR chasing their PREY

AND THE PREY IS BLACK FUCKING SWAN???? THE FUCKING MEMOKEEPER FROM THE GARDEN OF RECOLLECTION?? THE MYSTERIOUS AND ELEGANT SOOTHSAYER???

To see Black Swan of ALL characters in this game so far be filled with such visceral fear and trepidation, to be tossed around at the MERCY of something that could have so EASILY killed her just like. t h a t. is beyond insane.

I expected it to be more of a "What terrible horrors have you commited?" 'Wow! Horrors that even Black Swan thinks is terrible, Acheron is capable of s-' no she literally almost killed her. Big city comic book superhero/secret identity stuff is so fun. Its funky. It's silly. It's camp. It's also a little angsty. A little bit X-men adjacent. Kids who were born with strange abilities that they have to hide for their own safety but still feeling so disconnected from the people around them and so so different, sneaking out at night to save the city from supervillains, one of whom seems to be a teenager just like them and he's just following orders, man. He's still super annoying tho.

the crazy thing about our cultural obsession with selling a particular aesthetic as the one true indicator of Fitness is that one day you are going to meet the most supernaturally athletic person you’ll ever see in your entire life and they are going to look like Just Some Guy

#i am overstating it a bit. but like #‘in shape’ is really not a shape #at least not one we’re trained to recognize #mumbling #i get really into fitness on and off it’s a hobby of mine #and i’m not saying big muscles do nothing #but you can only watch so many fitness influencer collab videos before you start to notice #how frequently absolutely jacked dudes get outpaced by guys with like 60lbs less muscle mass #sometimes even out-*lifted*#there’s this one physical challenge show on n*tflix where 100 super athletic people all faced off in a bunch of elimination challenges #and getting down to the final 20 or so almost everyone was absolutely shredded #but the final 5 were just…relatively normal looking #and i mean obviously there’s a lot more to actual HEALTH than pure physical performance but that just makes it all even more ridiculous #idk it’s just all very interesting 2 me
