hi Helii i dunno if you already made a post about this, but I'm curious if u thought of a different plot and ending for httyd 3 cause recently i've been thinking about that a lot and i like to hear people's opinions about the movie!

hi nonnie !! ive made 2 posts abt my opinion of httyd3 (ein) (zwei) but since then ive read things like directors commentaries and excerpts from the art book so theyre not Very complete (but still representative—i just give some of the people who worked on it too much leeway LMAO)

honestly i havent thought of a different plot or ending that much, mainly because there are a Lot of things that bug me about the movie and changing all of them would kinda make the fixed version™ almost unrecognizable, but i can give u some quickfire easy decisions i think wouldve made the movie better

replace the Light Fury with a pack of Night Furies that escaped to THW. i dont understand the fascination with making Toothless the last NF because the "propogation of the species" genetically cant happen if he is, despite what Dreamworks REALLY wants u to believe by having Nightlights be a thing 1300 years later. every single NL u see after the 3rd movie is horrifically inbred !!

scrap New Berk. the "Old Berk" location was so important to its people that they defended it from dragons for 400 years, they wouldn't just pick up and move. also, the overcrowding problem is a non-issue because there's so much room on that island to expand onto and Hiccup is not that much of a dumbass*

show Toothless struggling with leaving Hiccup to chase the LF (or NFs)—maybe he tries to drag him along and theres something that forces them to separate for Hiccup's safety

in that vein ^ there are like 3 total scenes where Hiccup and Toothless are together and that really cheapens the emotional followthrough so... have them be friends again. the 2nd movie, the first time we see them goofing off and chatting alone with each other, showing the audience how strong their bond is and what their dynamic is like. i dont remember if the 3rd movie has Anything like that

speaking of which LOSE THE "dragons are wild animals" POINT. this is a major inspiration for the movie so its one of the things that would change the Whole Story but Dean needs to make up his fucking mind over whether the dragons are gentle, intelligent, sapient creatures who know how to perfectly understand human speech and body language or wild, dangerous animals who need to be "free" from humans (the former is how dragons have been treated by every piece of httyd media until the third movie and the latter contradicts everything, is less interesting, and destroys the previous themes entirely so guess which i prefer)

adding on, stop treating Hiccup like garbage. he didn't find Toothless when he was a baby dragon and nursed him back to health before keeping him and thats all Toothless has ever known. Toothless had spent 15 years prior to befriending Hiccup being a dangerous. wild dragon and blowing up Berk. He's been "free" almost twice as long as he's been friends with Hiccup. LAY OFF, his concerns about Toothless are valid.

i've talked about this before but Hiccup is a terrible chief in this movie and the role shouldve gone to someone better qualified, like Astrid. unlike what some of the directors would have u believe, it IS mature to recognize ur bad at something and hand it off to someone who is more competent (especially if its a job like leadership) bc usually sticking to it gets u Fired. *he makes dumbass decisions so the villain can look smart and this is literally the only reason why he makes them i promise u

same point: Toothless is also a bad alpha in this movie. the premise of a single dragon ruling over all other dragons in the world is Really Bad in of itself, but we don't see Toothless do anything like what Valka's Bewilderbeast did in httyd2—sure he's smaller, but give us a few scenes of him being kind and patient with his people. don't have him order everyone into cages because his girlfriend might get hurt

REDEEM THE DEATHGRIPPERS none of them did anything wrong

treat the side characters with some modicum of respect. this movie does absolutely jackshit with Valka other than make Snotlout have a creepy crush on her and everyone has caught brainworms to make Hiccup and Astrid look competent in comparison.

do not. focus on Hiccup and Astrid's relationship as much as u did. u already failed to deliver a "call to the wild" story in Toothless and the LF, the audience does not need more ammo to get "romance is more important than friendship" out of your movie. having Astrid's role completely reduced to "supportive girlfriend" and "Hiccup's True support", along with how Valka was treated (god that goodbye scene with her and Cloudjumper makes me so sad and angry and NOT for the reasons the writers want) and the LF's design being Like That on PURPOSE (also every single model being airbrushed for Prettyness reasons) kind of shows what Some People making the movie think of women

even discounting ALL of these ^ gripes, of which i have More, trust me (i didnt even get into my problems with Grimmel because honestly i do not remember enough of that twat to properly articulate my issues w him), i would be happy if the end went 1 of 2 ways:

Berk moves inside or near THW in order to keep being the defenders of the dragons, and the LF growing closer to Hiccup is representative of the hidden world dragons growing closer to Berk, illustrating that yes, coexistence is possible and good and benefits them both

the dragons gradually leave on a case-by-case basis, but Toothless never leaves Hiccup, and Hiccup grows old always waiting for him to visit. Hiccup writes a memoir of his experiences with dragons to hopefully educate the younger generation when they decide to come back. this mirrors the books' ending far better and gives the dragons the agency they deserve

i do not think there is a world where every dragon on earth leaves to THW and is simultaneously a good ending which portrays the right themes. Dean's fascination with "there were dragons when i was a boy" kneecapped the entire plot. you do not write stories starting from how you want them to end, especially if they're stories based off a beloved franchise with already established dynamics and themes. the Reason why so many plot elements are so contrived, why so much character development is lost, why httyd's theme of tolerance, cooperation, and the power of love is hamstrung, is because they Really Wanted an end where there are no dragons and they were Completely willing to do anything to get there (also Dreamworks is shit to its artists but whats new)

anyway. NONNIE. if u ever end up thinking More about an alternative version of httyd3 tell me!!!! i'd love to hear YOUR ideas and if u cannot tell talking abt this is so fun and engaging for me so i will listen !!!!! i love u for talking to me have a good day <3 <3 <3 <3

-the framing and lighting this episode, and all the angles...they went all OUT and it looks really really good. this is my nightmare scenario, tho. like, FUCK zombies and dead city zones and hivemind shit. and using the humans as 'nutrients for the children' i am going to THROW UP.

so im an exchange student at tsukki’s university

lets just assume i can already speak pretty fluent japanese OK

we met through common friends

like we were planning a surprise birthday party for said friend and we both had to communicate with each other to plan it and all

tsukki hates parties but he felt bad if he didnt help out at least since this friend was his roommate after all and his roommate did help him cover some chores occasionally

THEN HE PROBABLY SAYS SOME SNARKY REMARK TOWARDS ME LIKE i was trying to put up the birthday banner or something and make sure it’s aligned but im short so the struggleTM is real and tsukki sees it and hes like “wow even on a chair you still need to tiptoe”

ok so im stupid and i actually cant tell when someone likes me you have to actually spell it out for me

tsukki and i spent a lot of time together like just the both of us and we both studied together and ate together whenever we had the time

tsukki is smart and he wants to keep his grades up and im just trying my best to even pass i am so bad at studies but we’re both in different majors so we just study together and make sure that we dont get distracted and lazy (me especially)

i drag him to school events he didnt plan on going initially

so like we had a lot of “dates” to cafes, libraries, me just crashing at his dorm room

i go support him at his volleyball matches and he does the same for me at my table tennis matches

somewhere along the way i get confused with my feelings and all like do i like like him or am i just being nice ???? what if he doesnt like me back ??? what do i do ???? but i dont tell anyone about it and i mainly keep it to myself 

and tsukki realises that he likes me but he doesnt act on those feelings bc i didnt exactly show any “signs” of liking him back

so here comes the slow burn and all our friends can tell we both like each other but one is stupid and the other is stubborn and they both know that we both will just give them the death glare about it

until the last week left of my exchange and im packing up my things to fly back home and tsukki is helping me pack

and he saw that i had put up a picture of the both of us from one of his volleyball matches (it was my favourite picture of us) and in that moment he realizes that he might have a chance bc i dont exactly like to put pictures up and ive said that only if it meant a lot to me i would put it up

so he just went like “fuck it shes leaving and god knows when i’ll see her again”

AND HE JUST TELLS ME “so uh i like you”

and im just in shock and all and i start crying bc like i came here for exchange and to make memories but here i am falling in love with this tall french fry and now im going back soon and basically im overwhelmed with emotions

and tsukki doesnt know what to do bc he has never actually seen me cry ??? i dont cry in front of people unless im really comfortable with you and trust you wholely

hes trying to comfort me and figure out what to do and i tell him everything that i had bottled up and was feeling

AND THEN after i had calmed down he went and bought a whole strawberry shortcake and we just ate the entire thing in one sitting

i love strawberry shortcake i refuse to have any other cake but that for my birthdays

on the day i had to fly back home tsukki sent me to the airport and he asked me if i wanted to give us a try especially with the long distance and i said yeah bc like im already in deep and i love him with my whole ass heart

and i cant deny it bc im as red as a tomato

during one of his breaks he actually flies over to visit me and im just A CRYING MESS AGAIN bc this boy would do anything for me even though he acts all unbothered on the outside

ssp investigates ama-no-gawa high and naomi follows yuuki to the rabbit hatch but shin and jetta get lost by the real rabbit hatch so they call naomi. she meets the kamen rider club in the new rabbit hatch and goes on a moonwalk with them. then gai shows up and gentarou befriends naomi and gai and jetta and shin (who he led to the rabbit hatch 2.0). then they all go to the moon and hang out and since theyre all memes they decide to recreate the here comes another chinese earthquake 999 999 999 !?!?!?!?!?!?!? snake? snake snaaaaaaaake? john madden john madden etc video. naomi says it would get their page a lot of views while fourze uses his pen switch to draw the shit from the video. it takes weeks and during that time juggler is pissed bc he can sense gai is going into space but he cant figure out HOW (he doesnt know what an astro switch is). finally the ssp and krc are about to film the last of this stupid thing before Editing Hell and juggler pins gai and demands he stay on earth to fight the latest kaijin and gentarou appears all buddy-buddy and juggler gets even more pissed offand sword fights him. rocket and drill vs fast sword. kengo throws him stealth and gai makes sure juggler doesnt intercept the throw. with stealth at least juggler cant see him, but that doesnt solve gen's problem of not seeing where juggler is. birgermeal cant pick him up bc hes moving too quickly. meteor shows up to knock juggler over w his blue light bc fuck this shit Just Let Us Do Filming Already. then they riders fight juggler until he summons a kaijin out of frustration and gai steps in and transforms and they're all like 'whooooaaaaaaa big ultra' and he does the nod thing and keeps it away from their school. meteor's techniques dont work on someone who moves faster then the speed of light unfortunately and fourze is a dumbass who yells his attacks before he does them. theyre getting beaten up, and gais timer starts flashing. he changes from specter zefron into hurrican slash and beats the kaiju and flies over as a human to stop juggler from stabbing fourze and meteor. he fights juggler in the sports fields to stop him from bothering ssp and the krc as they go to the moon. the football team watches their battle in awe. finally gai and juggler find themselves fucking in one of,those changing rooms and then gai changes and leaves. he goes to the moon but juggler goes on his "why doesn't he want to fight me 24/7??? he's the light to my darkness" rant meanwhile the others have gotten set up and gai is ther to hold the microphone on the moon but the boi has no concept of filmmaking so he waves it into the shot more often than not. they have several snack breaks, party games, jetta blogs from space, miu shares being in charge with naomi, yuuki, jetta, gentarou, and jk geek out together, kengo, tomoko, and shin are already discussing theories, shun is talking with gai, ryuusei is hanging sort of with both the nerds and the strong idiots. everyone is space friends and the riders and ultra think each other cool. miu and naomi will work on the editing together. these beautiful idiots somehow get the idea to make gai transform on the moon just to see if he could breathe in ultra form or if he needed a space suit. so they all suit up and go outside and watch the fusion up and it's so pretty amd bright, juggler sees a temporary twinkle in the sky down on earth. and he realizes that gai is somehow on the fckn' MOON. meanwhile the next day everyone goes to the rabbit hatch and juggler follows them bc he can. he cant figure out the old storeroom tho. he has never been to high school in his life, and if he did, he skipped every second of every clas. anyway, he follows them and gai's like " crap i have to fight him" just to keep juggler from wrecking the rabbithatch 2.0. with his pen astro switch fourze writes "creep" and "idiot" on juggler's face and he is Not Amused. but naomi and miu and jk are. juggler goes around touching shit (yuuki hides the nuggyroicas just in case) and posing while smirking for gai. gentarou tries again to befriend him, but he doesnt have friends. gai takes him outside where he goes ultra and pushes juggler back to earth. by the time the editing is done juggler has fought gai 59 times and he watches the video with vague lack of expression. gai wasnt in this wtf (he was suit actor 4 actually). and the show had way too much repetition. the camera sometimes shaked too. gai battled juggler a lot to keep him from destroying th rabbit hatch

Well, I think I'm getting along fairly well with the tribe thus far, at least I don't think I've done anything wrong. I've made jokes about making a 4-man alliance with the voice-chat group which may end up happening, ideally if I can find myself in the majority or just not in the minority would be ideal. I'm guessing this won't be like my first season where I win the first 5 challenges and don't go to tribal. But I could be wrong, that's a previous game luck that I'd like to repeat.

Really happy I was on the call last night because that ended in an alliance. It was funny how while on call Kori was making his document about everyone and actively saying his opinions on people while we can all hear him. If it's ever useful I'm going to throw that out there (not the doc, just what he said). But also I feel he is going to forget that he gave us the link and he is going to add other alliances he is in throughout the game to his other facts section, and I now have that link saved on chrome so I will be checking back at it periodically. But Amanda and I were messaging each other during the call kind of in shock that he was saying all that and we were wondering if he would give us all that information, AND THEN HE DID. It wasn't even that difficult to get. Kori is really nice and for now it is smart to work with him but I feel that down the line he is going to become a liability. Really hoping we win this first challenge so we don't have to go to tribal but if we somehow lose then I'm going to push for Bodhi to go because he is too cocky and I don't like him.

Hello, the robbed king of navarino is back and ready to snatch the win this time! So where do we begin? I’m on this tribe who’s name I don’t remember because I never remember tribe names, oops. Most of these people are familiar faces to me but not many are that close with me, so I’ll do a quick tribe assessment. Anna - This is my first time meeting her. We’re only talking about Netflix shows right now to hit it off. I didnt follow her season too closely but I think she’s the girl who went to every tribal and lost at FTC, and some people were mad at her?? She said in her intro she’s ready to be the villain again so hmmm, first off there can only be one villain, me. Second off, makes me know to be a little bit weary of you. Andrew - I am SO happy he’s cast. Definitely the closest person to me on this tribe, and hopefully he feels the same way lolol. I want to work very closely with Andrew and hopefully we make it deep. Kevin - We player enchanted together and were on good terms but he went out on a tribe swap. Don’t have much of an opinion game wise. Nathan - Just player furby with him, just gave him third in that, oops. We had a rocky time together in that game and he gave me red flags all the time there because I felt like he was doing a lot of stuff behind my back (which he was) but I just want us to be on good terms here to start. Nicole - Nicole is a really nice person, we aren’t super close though and haven’t been that close in games before. I also know she’s a good player, so I am gonna keep an eye on here. Rhône - Oh Rhône, player my first ORG ever with him. We were the first tribe to go to tribal, he was targeting me, i got people to flip onto my side and we voted him out and then he called me a dick and deleted me. 6 months later... we’ve added each other back LOL. But he extended an olive branch and I never held a grudge against him anyways so ofc I’ll move past it so he doesn’t have a target on me. But we’ll see how things go down later on!

Well after a full day has gone by it seems I'm in a majority alliance, which in theory is good for me. Though I've also been working on Dani and she says she was approached for a majority alliance, that COULD be the alliance I'm already in and put in the effort of having formed, but it could also be another alliance in the works that I'm not part of, so I'm gonna have to keep my eyes peeled. (It's possibly that the alliance I'm currently part of is not even like a real alliance, in that I could be the only one who's considering it seriously.) Meanwhile Bodhi as much as I like the guy, I feel like he was being a bit too stubborn about the song selection, that could have rubbed people the wrong way, and I think he'd be safe person to recommend for elimination, but with this other alliance potentially floating around, I dunno could be dangerous.

UGHHH SERIOUSLY? Literally every time I play a Survivor ORG I go to tribal first. I AM SICK OF IT. But I haven't been the first boot yet... So let's hope it continues? It's really annoying being on a small tribe because no one is really "inactive" so there doesn't seem to be much of an easy way out. Not exactly how I expected my first week back in the Athena series to go... but I can’t say I’m surprised either. Going into tribal, I feel like I’ve made the most connections I possibly could have and I’ve got Anna and Jake for sure on my side. It’s deciding WHO I want out that’s the problem. I could get out Rhône who is a clear threat to my game later on, or Kevin who didn’t participate at all. It’s all about balancing out when to make personal game moves and game moves to help the tribe... and I’ve only got one shot at redemption. So it may be time to go for the jugular and ensure my safety later on by campaigning against Rhône.

The Quality of Talio’s fucking video gave me explosive diarrhea. Who edited(?) using a potato? It’s wild Maury. If our tribe ever loses Emily WILL be bullied out of this community. Anyways I’m in an alliance with Julia, Blake, and Ryan called “Bullies R Us” in honor of the late Toys R Us company and we’re all bullies so the name stuck.

I feel calm now, I can breathe. It's a good day. It's such a great feeling to have immunity and know I won't be first boot. I'm really proud of the tribe because we were able to get it done. I am so thankful for Dani being able to edit that video because that must have taken a lot of time and energy, and also really happy that we were the only tribe to have all of our members participate. Well, we won our first challenge, which is great, my idol search has been uneventful, and Dani wants to form an alliance of me her and Nicholas, which is good because she wants to work with me, but could backfire with me already in an alliance with Amanda, Colin, and Timmy. In a perfect scenario we won't ever go to tribal more than once so I don't have to worry about betraying anybody. Hello I AM SO UPSET. Kevin should by all standards be the one going home there’s been no social connection with him, he’s busy and didn’t even attempt. But here we are AGAIN as in every org I’ve ever played with rhone, people want Rhône gone first and it f*cking sucks. Every single time. Why? Like it makes me livid, at this point I rather flop to see Rhône thrive because they deserve it. Okay so we lose the first challenge, great. My goal is to make sure I’m not a target so I talk to everyone.
