NEW AMSTERDAM REACTION
This reaction is for the season 4, seventeenth episode titled “Unfinished Business” which originally aired on April 26, 2022. The episode was written by David Foster and directed by Andrew Voegeli. Spoilers ahead!
Tumblr media
You’d think that with only giving us three episodes, including this one, since January, that New Amsterdam would tread lightly with its fans. However, with this latest episode, New Amsterdam is like f**k your feelings, grab your tissues, and be prepared to be absolutely and completely emotionally wrecked for the next 43 minutes. In the latest episode, “Unfinished Business”, we pick up literally where we left off in the last episode. We see a concerned Max sprinting through the streets of Manhattan towards the apartment where he and Helen are staying. When he arrives, he finds her unresponsive on the floor, which helps to explain why she hasn’t been responding to his text messages. He calls an ambulance and Helen is taken to New Amsterdam. It is at this moment that I got my first urge to reach for tissue because the look on Max’s face as the ER doctors access Helen is utterly heartbreaking. It made me wonder if he was flashing back to the first time he nearly lost both Helen and his first wife – Georgia.
Tumblr media
After the title card, we then get a montage of the other doctors reaching out to their missing coworkers. Lauren reaches out to the VA to get the whereabouts of Ronnie Cooper – Casey’s old military buddy. Iggy calls Trevor’s cell and leaves a voice message saying that he is getting concerned since he hasn’t heard back from him. Floyd and a few cops go out looking for Mia and they find her bicycle abandoned near the peer. Lauren does manage to get in touch with Ronnie and he tells her that Casey got angry and walked off after they nearly were in an accident. While Lauren is talking to Ronnie, she bumps into Leyla. Leyla can see that she’s upset and asks if everything’s okay. Lauren tells her about Casey being missing and Leyla says she will go with her to help her look for them. Um, I’m glad to see that Lauren and Leyla are back on speaking terms but seriously, who is running the hospital with all the other doctors off playing Scooby Doo mystery games?
Reynolds and the police officers find Mia lying on the ground below the railing where she fell. It’s a miracle that she’s still alive but she’s also unresponsive and hypothermic. Meanwhile we see Elizabeth’s super letting her interpreter, Ben, and Karen Brantley into the hospital. It’s so good to see Karen back because she has really grown on me. They find Elizabeth lying on the floor and she appears to at least be conscious which is a good thing because the others, so far, have not fared so well. Max tells Helen that he will make sure she gets fluids and rest, but she tells him that she won’t be able to rest because her leg is killing her. When Max pulls back the blanket covering her he sees that her leg has swelled up and it’s looking pretty gnarly. Matt Walsh, the ED resident, joins them and reports that the platelet count is extremely low due to blood clots. They take her to be scanned and Max sees that she has multiple clots in multiple arteries. The clots are renal, lymphatic, gastric, ovarian, and uterine which means she will need to undergo several surgeries, including a hysterectomy. Ugh, can this get any worse? Good news – it most certainly can!
Tumblr media
We then go to Iggy’s office where he is pacing. While he is concerned about Trevor’s well-being, a big part of that concern is the ambiguity of what happened between them the night before. As I’ve mentioned many times in these reactions, I adore Iggy and he’s honestly my favorite character on the show. This episode, however, I found his actions deplorable, and it was really hard to root for him even though there were moments where I sort of sympathized with him.
Tumblr media
Trevor calls via FaceTime and Iggy sees that he’s in the hospital. He explains that he was taking the train home and he passed out and some strangers, thankfully, got him safely to a hospital that is not New Amsterdam – how convenient for them. He assures Iggy he’s fine and then Iggy asks about what happened between the two of them the night before. Trevor assures him that all that happened was they had some karaoke, some conversation, and then they parted ways. Iggy is relieved but all I kept thinking to myself is that Trevor was roofied so would he even remember any of the details prior to him passing out? What I find interesting about this episode is there’s so much ambiguity surrounding most of what happened between these people leaving the karaoke bar and the present. Perhaps something did happen between the two of them and neither of them are able to remember it. Or maybe Trevor remembers and is trying to keep Iggy in the dark for whatever reason. Who knows!
Tumblr media
At the moment, none of that even matters, because when Iggy ends the call with Trevor, he turns around and sees Martin standing in the doorway of his office. First of all, Iggy you’ve probably had your door close if you were having private conversations. Second of all, it only takes a second of seeing the long-suffering look on Martin’s face to know the jig is up. I felt so bad for Martin in this moment. This man spends most of his days (and nights) looking after five kids. Notice I say five kids because I do think having Iggy as a husband is probably like having a fifth child in your care.
Martin is pisssssssssssssssed! Rather than mention the conversation he just heard between Iggy and Trevor, he reminds his husband that their oldest has a concert. While Iggy starts babbling about what he was just doing, Martin very calmly turns around and walks.
Tumblr media
Back in the ER, Floyd and Matt are trying to raise Mia’s body temperature. Floyd suggests using a specific drug that Mia is allergic to but Matt shoots down the idea. When a nurse accidentally bumps into Mia’s bed which causes her heart monitor to start wigging out. When it finally calms down, Floyd says they have to be very careful because if her heart stops they won’t be able to restart it until her body is at the appropriate temperature.
Helen tells Max that she does not want to have a hysterectomy, but he tells her that if she doesn’t, her uterus could rupture because of the blood clots. She wants to try something less evasive but Max shoots down the idea. They go back and forth and it’s in this moment that I remembered that a few seasons ago, Helen was trying to harvest her eggs for future use. She is worried that a hysterectomy will change her and her future. She mentions that hysterectomies have been overused on women like her – black women. I love that New Amsterdam always finds a way to talk about the traumatic relationship black women have with medicine. Max says he will support her decision no matter what which – good on you Max. It’s her body. Her choice.
Elizabeth learns that she was roofied the night before and she is justifiably angry. The drug that was used was super powerful and could have (and has) did a lot of damage. Karen says she is going to call the police. Karen calls the police – shocker! Anywho, the attending physician orders a CT scan for Elizabeth and leaves the room along with Karen. Elizabeth asks Ben if he would call her brother and let him know she’s alright. When he leaves the room, we see this look on Elizabeth’s face. I think this look is supposed to convey her putting two and two together and figuring out who drugged her. When Karen finishes her phone to the police she returns to the room Elizabeth was being treated and sees that she is gone.
Tumblr media
Lauren and Leyla are out looking for Casey and Leyla opens up about her immigration issue. She tells Lauren that she is going to be deported if she doesn’t figure out a way to extend her VISA. Lauren rattles off a bunch of options but Leyla says she has tried all of them. She then mentions that she is going to need several thousand dollars for the lawyer. Leyla says she hates even asking and it’s at that moment they notice Casey’s hospital ID lying on the ground. They notice there’s blood on it and then they see blood on a nearby wall. They head into an alleyway and find Casey unconscious on the ground with a screwdriver jutting out of his neck. Casey wakes up and immediately pulls the screwdriver out of his neck which causes him to bleed profusely. Leyla starts looking around trying to find something to keep the wound patched until they are able to get him to the hospital and she finds a caulking gun in one of the dumpsters. She uses the caulking gun to fill the wound while Lauren calls 9-1-1.
Meanwhile Iggy and Martin are walking with their daughter to her concert. Iggy wants to talk about what Martin overheard in his office, but Martin doesn’t want to have this conversation on the street while their daughter is in such close proximity. Iggy insists that whatever Martin thinks he heard is not the case and Martin fires back by saying that what he heard is his husband talking to the man he said he wouldn’t hire in the first place. Yikes, Iggy! Iggy keeps wanting to plead his case, but Martin shuts him down by saying he does not want to hear about his infidelity right now. Now some folks would argue that Trevor’s flirting and Iggy allowing him to do so is not cheating but I think it is. It’s emotional cheating. Emotional infidelity. I’d argue that emotional cheating is way worse than physical cheating and I sincerely believe that while Iggy may be convinced he did nothing wrong, it definitely has had an effect on his relationship with Martin.
Then we head over to Floyd talking to Dr. Malvo. I really hate this storyline so let’s just breeze through this. We found out last episode that Dr. Baptiste got a job at another hospital which would require him to move. Dr. Malvo plans on going with him which doesn’t bode well for Floyd considering the baby she is carrying is his. Ugh, this situation is so messy and is not a ringing endorsement for polyamory. Hopefully these three will find a way to co-parent this child should Malvo decide to carry it to term.
Max finally proposes to Helen. It’s not the way he wanted but somehow this seems the most appropriate way.
Iggy and Martin continue to argue about Trevor while their kids are sitting in the hallway outside their bedroom door. Iggy deflects Martin’s accusations by saying Martin has a ton of attractive friends, but he has never accused him of cheating with them. Oh, Iggy! You are grasping at straws, my friend! Martin reminds Iggy that they talk about his friends and their attractiveness all the time, yet he never talks about Trevor. Martin says the roofies aren’t the blame – Iggy is. Iggy continues to insist that nothing happened with him and Trevor and that their relationship is harmless. Martin says Iggy has been different for the last few weeks. He’s been happier. Martin says he assumed that happiness was about him, but he realizes it’s not. The thing that’s been making Iggy happy is Trevor. During this argument, Iggy does this passive-aggressive thing where he tells Martin to lower his voice even though Martin is speaking in an acceptable tone. I really don’t like how Iggy is behaving in this scene. It feels very gaslight-y and manipulating. Iggy continues to be in denial of the nature of his relationship with Trevor and after assuring Martin, one last time, that it was nothing, Martin tells him that he’s not only lying to him, but he’s also lying to himself. I love how level-headed Martin is being in this scene. I like how he isn’t holding back with how he is feeling. Unfortunately, Iggy is not ready to hear the uncomfortable truths and that’s the most frustrating thing.
Tumblr media
On the ambulance ride to the hospital, Lauren tells Casey he’s going to be okay. Casey says that Leyla is talking to her again. He asks if he is dying. Lauren says he’s not, but Casey knows that his vitals are not good. It was at this moment my heart sank because I love Casey and even though I was pretty sure he was going to be okay; you just never know with New Amsterdam. Lauren changes the subject and talks about Leyla’s situation. She worries that if she gives Leyla the money, it will make their relationship transactional and that eventually Leyla will grow to resent her – again. However, if she doesn’t give her the money, Leyla will not be able to hire a lawyer and she could end up being deported. Casey jokes that money can’t solve everything.
Back at the hospital, Mia is coding but attempts to shock her heart back to beating are futile. Floyd reminds them that the heart won’t be able to restart until she is back to her normal body temperature. He recommends giving her the drug she is allergic to, but Matt is against this. He says giving her the drug will cause her to have an allergic reaction. Floyd believes that if Mia has an allergic reaction that would raise her body temp. Matt is still against it, so Floyd administers the drug.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Elizabeth barges into the karaoke bar and confronts the bartender. She asks him why and when he doesn’t respond she starts throwing shot glasses. I love that once again, we are experiencing this from her POV and even though there’s a communication barrier, the bartender is still able to understand what she is trying to ask him. Turns out, this bartender is a world-class asshole, creeper, and he should be locked up for multiple accounts of attempted murder. He confesses to drugging Elizabeth and the others and his reasoning behind it is he was upset about Covid shutting everything, including his bar down. He is pissed at the healthcare industry because he believes they blew the coronavirus and its effects out of proportion which affected his business. Elizabeth is enraged and I was, too. I get that Covid-19 changed EVERYTHING and so many lives and livelihoods were affected by the virus, but that doesn’t mean you get to take your rage out on innocent people, especially those tasked with putting their lives on the line to save people, including those who insisted the entire lockdown that Covid-19 was no big deal.
Thinking back to last episode, I wonder if the bartender was already planning on drugging the doctors – or – did Casey asking about vaccination cards prompt him to poison their drinks? We never get a real answer but luckily Karen and the police show up to arrest the guy. Good riddance! Oh, and during the hubbub of the arrest, Elizabeth collapses.
Back at the hospital, Helen starts crashing. When Max arrives, Dr. Malvo tells him that one of the clots broke free and is lodged in her lung. A procedure needs to be performed or else Helen is going to die. Poor Max. My heart broke for him yet again. This man has been through so much. Cancer. Losing his wife. Almost losing Helen. Losing New Amsterdam. Now he’s about to lose Helen again. There’s only so much one person can take.
Tumblr media
Mia is also in dire straits. Giving her the drug, she was allergic to has caused her to go into anaphylactic shock. Matt wants to reverse the drug out of system, but Floyd says she is still under temp. They use the paddles and eventually are able to get a heartbeat. Once her heart is back to beating and her body temp is regulated, they administer an EpiPen. Looks like Mia is going to be okay. And so is Casey. Luckily the screwdriver he was stabbed with did not nick his carotid artery. While they watch him being operated on, Lauren confesses to Leyla that she not only loves her romantically, she loves her as a person and that she is in awe of her. She tells her she will give her whatever money she needs, and they embrace.
Helen comes to her procedure and is okay much to Max’s relief. We then see Elizabeth with Ben and Karen. She is okay, too. She talks about how when Covid first happened, they would throw parades for the frontline workers as they were leaving their shift at the hospital. Then things turned and suddenly the doctors and nurses and other healthcare providers were deemed the enemy. She says how she used to wear her scrubs home and now she changes before she heads home because she doesn’t want to draw attention to herself. She asks how she can have hope in a world where people continue to not be vaccinated and Covid numbers still continue to climb. Karen says she is the hope. Later on, when she is leaving home from the hospital, Elizabeth dons her scrubs.
Tumblr media
Casey came through his surgery okay and Lauren cries. I think she is equal parts happy he is okay and sad about Leyla. Either decision she made regarding Leyla would have consequences. Over dinner, Iggy looks around the table and the kids are despondent. He and Martin make eye contact, but Martin quickly looks away. Things are TENSE. Iggy has a lot of work to do if he has any chance of repairing his marriage and his family. The ball is in his court.
Tumblr media
We end things with Max sitting at Helen’s bedside. They are both relieved that she is okay, and they are excited about officially being engaged. And in last ditch effort to completely rattle all of us viewers and squeeze out the last tears we have, we discover that Helen can’t talk. Whatever happened during her operation has rendered her unable to speak. Credits. New Amsterdam – seriously!?
What an incredible episode. After last week’s epic cliffhanger, this feels like a satisfying conclusion although it did leave our main cast in the best place. Lauren is left feeling conflicted about her decision to give Leyla the money she needs. Iggy is going to have to make some big decisions in the next few episodes if he is going to have any chance of saving his marriage and ultimately his family. Max and Helen have a long road ahead of them, not only towards making plans to get married but with Helen’s setback it looks like she’s going to have to learn how to speak all over again. I hope this doesn’t put too much strain on their already stressful relationship. On top of all of that, I’m sure Dr. Veronica Fuentes is going to rear her ugly head at any moment and Max is going to have to prepare to do battle with her. We are quickly approaching the season finale and I’m excited to see what happens. I want the best for our characters but sometimes the best comes with consequences. I want Lauren and Leyla to be back together, and I want Iggy to make things right with Martin. Lastly, those who were drugged by the bartender still have some things they have to deal with. What really happened that we don’t know about. Was Trevor being honest? What’s Mia dealing with? There are some unanswered questions and I wonder if we will get answers. All and all, this was an amazing episode, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Until next time …

so i have been busy .... so sorry it is late ..... so in today’s chapter here comes our favourite MR. RAINES *fangirl scream* 😍😍😍😍😍
Tumblr media
It was the same old day , same Monday morning , and Adrian felt nothing special about it. For others everyday was a new day but for him it was the all same , nothing new. For the others with each and every passing day, the number of days reduced from the lists but for Adrian, with each and every day the number of days increased only.
He didn’t have any interest in the life he was living. He just lived for the sake of living.
Adrian watched as life continued around just like every day, from his office. He frequently thought about the safety of people he was responsible for. His existence as a vampire among all the humans was a thing he was always afraid of. He always dreaded that what would happen if his secret is revealed as it could bring a lot of harm to both the worlds. He always had to be cautious about his actions.
To Adrian, one of his major priority was the safety of all the employees of his company, as he was responsible for them. But after the recent incident he thought he was not doing his job properly. Though it has been a month since then but still, Emily’s screams as the feral attacked her, were quite fresh in his ears.
Emily Vaughn has been his executive assistant for past 3 months, and he thought that it was his responsibility. He always did his best but the things would still go south anyways. It was a good thing that she didn’t die or any serious injuries didn’t take place, but still he had to debrief her and send her away for own safety.
Adrian never tried to make connections in this world, he was oblivious to the pleasure of being loved since more than 100 years. Every time giving away his feelings brought him nothing, it only ended I misery and pain. He was always haunted by the memories of his family and his lover. He swore to never give his heart away ever again, after being left wounded two times by doing so.
He always wondered what could have happened if his family was alive, he could have seen his beautiful boy grow up into a handsome man , but fate had something else in store for him.
The day he was turned into a vampire was the worst of his, he didn’t understood why some vampires see immortality as a gift to them , to him immortality was a curse because living too long without the ones he loved is useless.
“Adrian …” interrupting his thoughts a voice came through the corridor. He turned to see who it was. As he expected it was Nicole Anderson, the VP of Raines Corporation.
Nicole was a dedicated woman and focused on her work. Adrian has been working with her for years now. She is also one of the people he truly trust. Even after knowing his truth of being a vampire , she stayed there. She was always stern which he despised the most.
“yes … “ he replied .
“ Adrian , the interview for executive assistant will begin today at 10.30 sharp , so --- “
“ok … you take it and let me know of the progress later on “ he interrupted her .
“okay…” she was taken aback on his sudden response , she might have thought that Adrian might want to take look at the candidates but anyways she was least bothered by these things , so she stormed out as she came in .
Adrian sighed and went out of his office . He was just going through the corridor and something caught his eye.
A small figure at the end of the corridor , just standing there and talking to someone on her phone , with a big smile plastered on her face. He neither had seen her before here nor she was any of his employees. But whoever she was , she was exceptionally beautiful with a professional attire and her flowing hair and that amazing smile that could  win heaven. He was irresistibly attracted towards her. He heightened his senses to listen what was she saying on her phone and hid in the shadows.
“ Ya – ya I know…oh stop it …I am not a kid…” the beautiful girl said.
“ I know you are not a kid …because if you were I wouldn’t have sent you to Manhattan“  the man on the other side spoke . Adrian assumed him to be her father or her boyfriend .
“ Come on brother stop it …she is right …she is not a kid …and you didn’t even give so many instruction to John and Jenna when they left for school”  another voice said .
“ya maybe because our sister is an  even smaller kid , in the flesh of an 25 year old “ the first one shot back .
“ Excuse me brother …can you repeat what you just said “the girl said while attempting to be mad at him but at last giggling . But it sure as hell , cleared their relation and failed his assumption.
“ it is better you not listen to that one …” first voice .
“oh really …now I am even more intrigued “ the girl snapped back .
“ well well well …you can give me $1000 to keep my mouth shut , brother “ the second voice said .
“ how will it be, if I punch you to keep your mouth shut , brother “ first voice snapped back in mock sarcasm .
“ well well …what did I say about not murdering one another in my absence , brothers “ the girl said .
“ well… then remember to stay away from my euology “ the second one said.
They both laughed , Adrian assumed that it must be some inner joke between them , but watching that girl laugh mesmerized him. She did have a beautiful smile, and Adrian never admitted it but he did found her beautiful .
“okay okay ……now if you two five year olds are done …then let me say something serious to our little sister …now Amy …”
Oh her name is Amy
“…you listen to me carefully …now you will stay alert and if there is any problem you will call me and tell me everything ……and don’t you dare go to any other club – “  he was cut off again .
“ you cant bloody… restrict her from not going to clubs …that is not fair …she is not a minor …for god’s sake Christopher … she is effing 25 years old …you yourself said that “ the second one said .
Adrian kind of agreed with him.
“I swear… if you interrupt me once more… I will throw that laptop of yours and you yourself… out of this house” he warned .
Adrian understood that he surely does have some authority in their family and that girl was the youngest among them . She came out to be pretty sweet to him.
“ I love you , Nathaniel …I hereby promote you to the post of my most favourite brother now on “
“ I love you too sissy “ second one replied .
“ oh you two are going to be the death of me …now stop this nonsense …Amy listen …seriously this time …if I get to know you are getting wasted at a club in the middle of the night then I swear that I will deport your ass from Manhattan to New Orleans myself …getting--- “ he was cut off again by his sister this time.
“ hello…brother …I cant hear you …you are not audible to me “ she kept taking the phone away from her ear.
“no…don’t you dare do that Amy , don’t you dare cut the fucking phone …AMY “ the first one shouted but was late as she cut off the phone.
She let out a long sigh and continued to explore the place, then after taking a look at the place she sat down  on the bench and waited . The girl must have got some alert senses , that she realized that she was being watched by someone and searched behind her but found no one. And he was smiling to himself at the look she got on her face after finding no one .
She was extremely beautiful , Adrian has never seen someone like her in centuries . There was an undeniable attraction towards her .
And in that moment he knew that he has to know her, moreover he needs to know her , but as he started to approach her , Nicole came near her and she followed her away. He got it that she was one of those candidates for being his assistant. He saw the look Nicole gave her , which clearly reflected that she was jealous of her and he knew that she will give her a hard time. So he followed them inside, putting on his most professional face and decided to take the matter in his own hands.

David and Gillian: The Non-Romance for the Ages
One thing that I can’t shake about the media focus on David and Gillian receives is that it almost exclusively is reserved for actual (former) couples.
Like, why is the media focused on a couple that never was?
It’s not like David and Gillian’s situation was unique: co-stars with great chemistry who the media/people would like to see together. Plenty of shows and movies have co-stars like that. Hell, some co-stars have actually ended up together (and some have not), yet for two people out of their career primes and vocally denied ever being involved and stated it’ll never happen, the media refuses to leave this idea alone.
And if you follow popular culture and celebrity news, this is highly unusual. The media loves actors in their primes or on popular shows/in popular franchises. They love hot, young people. They love established box office sellers. They love a scandal. They love couples they drives gossip and clicks, which IMHO, outside of attractiveness, David and Gillian don’t fit that criteria.
Yet, this question about them (not) being romantically involved always comes up. Maybe not in every interview, every year, but it’s a question that doesn’t die. It’s fascination that hasn’t ended.
Which makes me think of the evergreen appeal Gillovny has for many people, which isn’t common.
What I mean by this is that there are certain couples, whether or not if they stayed together, that the media and society will always be obsessed with. It is something about them that we can’t get enough of. Most celebrities couples do not fit this criteria.
Take for instance, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Even now, even when most of them are dead, there is still a fascination about their relationships. A “modern” day example is Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (which earned this status due to many reasons, but they were a big thing before their divorce).
Despite never being together or even being rumored together, meaning rumors that consumed the media, they are in a limbo of sorts. As long as these two are alive, these questions will always plague them. People will be curious no matter how much they deny ever being involved. I think, unlike the others, it will fade when they pass away because we can’t follow a relationship that didn’t exist.
But, I just think about that no matter who they were with and no matter how long they were with them, none of their relationships have ever captured peoples attention as much as their non existence romance. And that's crazy as fuck. No relationship can compare to one that never happened--that’s the one many are invested in.
I think about Angelina Jolie in her prime (and before Brad) and how people were so obsessed with her and Billy Bob Thornton. That hardly anyone ever talks about them--this was a huge relationship almost 20 years ago. Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn--a huge thing around 15 years ago.
I think about all of the big relationships now that largely have intrigue for clicks and because they're popular right now, but there aren’t many couples that truly enrapture fans.
Yet, this couple that never was does.
I honestly believe that if they had got involved during the height of the X-Files’ popularity (and public), they would’ve been a huge fucking deal. They would’ve been an IT couple (of sorts). The media was begging for that shit--fans were begging for it. If they had stayed together in this hypothetical, they’d be one of those couples, even if they’re very low key, that people would’ve been super obsessed with and salivating for content. And they would've definitely given some bomb ass answers when asked about each other.
Now, in this hypothetical, if they broke up, it would’ve been an equally big deal. The media and fans wouldn’t have ever got over this chaotic couple because they would've been chaotic in the best way possible.
I’m not arguing that no other non couple receives this type of attention, I’m saying it’s actually pretty uncommon, especially for it to have gone on as long as it has.
Compare this to Kate and Leo, who the media and fans actively rooted for. I rarely hear people talk about still wishing that they’d get together. Despite no one believing they’d ever crossed that line sexually or romantically, it was a thing for a time to publicly root for them to get together. And it kinda just died off. Where as the fascination with David and Gillian pre-existed Kate and Leo and still existed well after the media dropped the other two.

Just looked through your tags for something new, and... Hm. Sydney x Vaughn and pirates AU or royalty AU?
OOOOH.
Thank you this is FUN. I’d say a royalty au for them. All that Bristow Family Drama? Gotta be royalty! As for my summary... hmm:
“Regime change and power plays are seen as normal in the land of Aypeo (get it? APO? no...?). The Bristow family is a dynasty that’s shrouded in mystery and betrayal. The oldest daughter, Sydney, is quite happy with her role as advisor to her father King Jack and head of the royal guards. While no longer officially queen, her mother Irina comes and goes from the castle at will while Sydney’s half sister Nadia has a special skill for diplomatic negotiations. Nadia’s biological father is King Arvin of the neighboring kingdom of Esdesix (SD-6) and has been planning a takeover for years. When Sydney uncovers his plot, she takes matters into her own hands: She plans to assassinate her sister’s father, her father’s old friend... the rival king. As she leaves the castle in the dead of night, she runs across an intruder from the very same kingdom she’s going to. He says his name is Michael Vaughn and he is seeking amnesty. He was married to a skilled assassin named Lauren, who told him of the king’s plot to overthrow King Jack. He’s come to warn Sydney’s family: Vaughn’s code of honor demands in. No one should be taken down in such an underhanded way. Vaughn is quickly welcomed into the Bristow family, but secrets still abound: Was Lauren the only tool in Arvin’s arsenal? Will he come for Nadia? And what about the draw that Sydney feels for Vaughn? She’s next in line for the throne... can she allow herself to fall in love with a commoner?”
