I’ve decided that from here forward I’m writing Tommy and Buck/Evan as long term canon. In the words of Buck himself “Who cares?!”
I get the feeling that Tommy is difficult to get really angry. Mostly based on his past. And his general roll with the punches attitude thus far. So I don’t foresee a lot of strife or fighting in his future with Buck. Except the first time Tommy experiences the after of that big marshmallow Evan Buckley doing something really dangerous and reckless..again.
And Tommy who never gets angry, who never shouts at Buck, who flew a helicopter into a goddamn hurricane in the middle of the ocean, really loses his shit this time because Buck cannot understand why Tommy is so upset that he dropped into a dangerous situation against orders AGAIN.
Tommy pinches the bridge of his nose to keep from shouting “Bobby told you not to go in. He told you not to risk it. That the floors were too unstable”
“There could have been someone left” Buck replies “Someone needed to check. It had to be me”
“Why? Because you’re fucking super human? The great Buck Buckley from the 118 who scoffs at danger, has survived a tsunami, getting trapped beneath a fire truck, throwing a blood clot, and was officially dead for three minutes after getting struck by FUCKING LIGHTNING!”
“How do you know about all of that?”
“That isn’t what matters”
“I think it is” Buck takes a step toward Tommy “Have you been stalking me babe?”
Noticing the mischievous smile Tommy shakes his head “Oh no no no. You are not going to adorable your way out of this”
Bucks shoulders sag and he sighs “I’m ok Tommy. Not even a scratch”
“I can see that” Tommy lets out a deep exhale “I understand the risks of the job. I’m not like your exes who would get all distraught over you removing a cat from a tree. But for fucks sake, you are worse than the EOD guys when I was in Afghanistan with the walking - or in your case running or jumping- right into the worst case scenario with no thought of your own safety” Rubbing his forehead he continues “Evan. You’ve got a savior complex and it’s noble and selfless..”
Buck cuts him off “It’s not a savior complex. I’m not stupid. I understand that sometimes no matter what you do you can’t save them. But sometimes maybe you can, and in those cases, I just make the most sense”
Tommy crosses his arms to keep from strangling him or kissing him stupid again to shut him up “How is that? How does you possibly dying make any sense?”
“They all have people that need them. They all have someone they belong to and..” he trails off with a small shrug
And Tommy hears the words he doesn’t say. He is…expendable. And just like that all of the anger drains out of Tommy to be replaced by a something else. “Evan” he says softly.
“I know” Buck interjects “I know that people love me and they would be sad, especially Maddie. And I don’t want to die. But I don’t want someone who has someone they need, and that needs them, to die either. I couldn’t live with that”
Tommy closes his eyes. This man..How can he be so adorable and selfless, yet so completely stubborn and a pain in the ass about his own safety?
Once he calms his thoughts and finds the words he wants to say, he opens his eyes to see Evan looking at him calmly. Like he expects Tommy to see the sense in what he said.
“Evan. I know we haven’t really put a label on this. On us. But that’s because I don’t want to pressure you. I’m the first man you’ve been with and you’re still figuring out who you are, and I understand that. But let me clarify something for you. I need you to come back to me. Ok?”
Buck blinks “Huh”
“I need you to come back to me” he repeats “Like Bobby needs Athena, and Karen needs Hen, and yes like Maddie needs Chimney.
“And Jee-un. Jee-yun needs her dad”
“Yes, and in that same vein, Christopher needs Eddie” he agrees, trying not to give in to his exasperation. “I need you. I am that person who needs you to come home Evan”
Evan stops whatever he was about to say. Startled awareness creeping into his eyes..Tommy sees a mix of emotions flit across his face. Surprise, joy, fear, everything just races across that expressive face and then Evan sinks onto the barstool at his kitchen island. His hands coming up to cover his face.
Tommy’s stomach clench’s. He pushed too hard, too soon “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I do care and want you to come home but..”
Buck looks up at him “Don’t you dare take that back”
“I’m not taking it back. I just don’t want to push you”
Something else crosses Evans face at that..but he tugged at his bottom lip with his teeth. “You aren’t pushing. You aren’t pressuring me. I am in this just as much as you. I just don’t know how to say what I want to say without it sounding lame and emo as shit”
“Did you just hear me? You can say anything to me Evan. Whatever it is”
Buck rolls his bottom lip between his teeth again. “I’ve never questioned why I do this…I mean it’s the whole reason I was born. To save my brother. To save Daniel. That’s what I do, that’s who I am. It’s why I became a firefighter. To be the one who saves people. The 118 is my family. And I would do anything to protect them from harm”
“I’m not asking you to stop. I would never ask that. I just want to remind you that you matter to a lot of people, and you also have someone who is waiting for you”
Bucks voice is thick “I know that. I get that. But…Nobody has ever. I have never belonged to anyone, like that”
In a sense of deja vu Tommy closes the short distance to Buck. Tipping his face up, he kisses him. Not soft and gentle like their first kiss in this kitchen. But bold and deep. Branding Evan with his mouth. Pulling back he says fiercely “You belong to me like that. For as long as you want..you belong to me and I belong to you, like that”
“I will ALWAYS need you to come back to me Evan”

He also had pretty much a lot of things to be insecure about, more meaningful like being a bad son, not mature enough, not masculine enough, not a good husband, awful dad, and so on. So Eddie never felt insecure about his body.

So he tries to never leave the house without a hoodie or sweater to keep him warm, and for being at home he has a huge collection of comfortable, warm, and super soft hoodies and warm fluffy socks of all the possible colors, and a collection of tea which takes whole cupboard in his kitchen. Buck likes to keep himself warm.
Especially because either way he wouldn’t be able to rest and sleep normally till he's warm and he can super easily catch a cold. Eddie still laughs a lot the moment Buck starts to have a runny nose and sore throat when he was cold for less than twenty minutes.

They both are so cute and soft, but Buck is almost pretty sure he has if not the same rabbit then really close to this one, but he definitely doesn't have any penguins. But it's offensive that his husband thinks he can buy plushies ONLY for himself.

It is a bad day. Just a bad day with a series of sad and bad events before it. It all just takes all the energy out of your body, and one day waking up you just can’t get up from the bed.
That’s just a bad day that Buck is ready to spend under a blanket cause after he tried to make himself breakfast and cried after not wanting to choose anything he decided it’s better to just rest and try to recharge energy from a lazy day in bed without anything, even his phone. Just bed, pillow, blanket, and his sad tired body in the silence of his loft.
Buck can’t even say which of the events of the last days led him to this not physical but deep in his mind exhaustion, and really he doesn’t want to try to understand. Just shut his brain for a day and not think about anything bigger than how comfy his little nest is.
A warm blanket covers his big body, hiding him from everything, from all the problems and sadness, and coldness of life outside. He can just be here in emptiness alone and rest.

Another day, another thinking thoughts about Buck's stutter. How it gets worse when he's nervous. The first time Tommy clocks it is when they have their first 'not an arguement but a misunderstanding' and Buck tries to explain himself but he keeps tripping over his words, barely forms a full sentence without his voice shaking, his breath quickens up and Tommy's heart breaks all over because it's not even a big deal— the thing they're discussing, but seeing Evan struggle with his words, seeing him this nervous that he can barely talk, it's painful so he cups Evan's face, looks him in the eye, smiles and says "hey, breathe. it's okay."

‘Buck’ is the facade Evan Buckley wears around everyone, including his 118 family. Every time Tommy calls him ‘Evan’ it’s him saying ‘I see you and you don’t have to hide’. We’ve gone from Buck to Buck 2.0 to Evan. This is officially my favorite Pokémon evolution.

I watched 911 kinda regularly - without really being part of the fandom. Which to be honest seems to be healthier. Some fans are super intense and obsessed with the idea of Buck and Eddie. I never saw it really but I have to say I really like the development with Buck and Tommy.
So I never shipped Buck and Eddie romantically. I love their relationship and how close they are but I never thought there is more or there needs to be more. Now that I checked some tags here I see how popular they are and how many think that this recent development means that Buck and Eddie become a thing.
And of course I cannot say this never will be an option also regarding with how much attention they get even now. But there are some things that do not make sense to me if the plan is to pair them up.
Because A) to make them a couple they kinda have to repeat the storyline again. Buck - mostly presented as straight for six seasons - realized he is also interested in men. So at one point Eddie - who has also been only presented as straight so far - has to go through the same process to make them become a thing. So the audience would see a very similar storyline twice. And I can’t imagine that the show runners would just tell the same story again.
B) If the plan is to put these two together - why include the detour with Tommy. Why not just tell the storyline with Eddie from the start. Have them experience a very close moment in which both realize - oh it’s you who I love. Because Eddie needs to have the realisation at one point anyways to make this work. So they could just tell the story with the two of them.
C) If Buck and Eddie are together. The creators would limit themselves in telling future stories. Because Eddie and Buck already share a lot of screen time. Also have them be romantically involved would make it almost impossible to separate them and show them with other characters. It would be like work together, hang out together, go home together etc etc. So far, their individual love interests - apart from family issues - is pretty much the only thing that kinda separates them and allows the creators to tell individual storylines.
D) What would really change when they are together? Kinda goes hand in hand with the previous point. Both are super close. They care about each other. They love each other. What would change if they become a couple. Nothing except they might kiss here and there. The dynamics will remain pretty much the same.

Tommy Kinard is one of the best characters to be (re)introduced to 911 since Maddie Buckley.
Not only does he have a history with the 118, he’s perfect (so far) for Buck. I mean holy shit that’s some genius casting and chemistry there.
And given the chance, his backstory has the potential to be a minefield of heartbreak and character development.
And Lou Ferrigno Jr. is knocking it out of the park. The actor and this character was obviously brought back for a reason. For an expanded role that draws on him to be funny and vulnerable and brave and a love interest. He has earned the chance to be part of a major story on a majorly successful show.
But for whatever reason some keyboard fan-squirrels are slagging the storyline and him and waving their torches because…what? They’re mad he’s doing TOO good of a job? He’s too likable as Tommy, too perfect a fit for one Evan Buckley?
This story started out getting all this positive press and chatter about the realistic and authentic portrayal of Buck embracing his bisexual side without angst or guilt. And we celebrated!

I want Tommy (and therefor Lou) to stay. I want Tommy to be Bucks boyfriend. I want to learn more about him. I want his origin story. I want to see a queer love story that looks a lot like any other love story.
And I want Lou Ferrigno Jr. to spend some time enjoying playing a popular character on a hugely popular TV show.

buck loves wearing tommy's clothes almost as much as tommy loves seeing buck in them. he accidentally wears one of tommy's old, worn LAFD t shirts to the station one day, getting really confused when chimney whistles, saying you got something you wanna tell us, buckaroo? he blushes like mad when he realises, but walks around with a massive smile on his face for the rest of the day, thinking about one day getting to wear his name for real
tommy's very into casual physical contact - he slips his hand into buck's back pocket when they're walking down the street, pressing a hand to the small of his back when ushering him through a doorway, an arm around his shoulders when they're watching TV on the couch. it's not even a conscious thing most of the time, but buck fucking loves it
inspired by @canonbibuck 's headcanon of tommy having a fixer upper and @bigfootsmom 's incredible fic, tommy buys a house and he's asking buck's opinion on everything. the colour of the walls in the living room, the backsplash in the kitchen, even the fucking light fixtures. buck's confused by it, and when he brings it up to tommy, he gets shy and quiet in a way buck hasn't seen him get before, saying evan, it's going to be our home one day. you know that, right? it's only fair you get your say. and buck is so fucking taken aback by how much he loves that man that he presses him to the nearest hard surface and kisses him senseless
speaking of, buck just loves ??? just kissing tommy ??? like with no expectation of it leading to anything else ??? (although if it does he definitely doesn't complain). they'll roll around in bed for an hour before a shift, just pressing eachother to the mattress in different ways and kissing eachother senseless, the world falling away until it's just the two of them

Three months after Tommy kissed him passed so fast, but Buck enjoyed every second of it. Every date, kiss, hug, sex. Every text till the next opportunity to meet again between their shifts.
Tommy makes him feel happy, giddy, smitten and, most importantly, wanted. He isn’t the one chasing so hard he forgets about himself this time, or the passive one, letting relationships just come to him, not trying to do much. No, now he takes as much as he gets.
Of course, during their first three weeks Tommy was the one who was making most of the moves. He would set the dates, time and date, just asking Buck if he wanted to have another date and then tell him when and where it would be. Tommy was the one buying him flowers, initiating kisses or any form, even not sexual intimacy - always making sure Buck was ok with everything, never rushing him to do something Buck didn’t want to. And it made Buck feel safe. Soon he was the one to lean and kiss the man, or hug, or put his hand on Tommy’s tight, while the man would drive him to the next date’s destination, any time he wanted.
Or Buck and Tommy enjoy their relationships, fall in love and go to Madney wedding together

BuckTommy/Tevan is such a grown and sexy ship. We’re all like, yeah, it would be nice if Buck and Tommy became a permanent couple on the show but, you know, if it doesn’t, that’s fine. We just want Buck to be happy - whatever that looks like. We’ll still watch the show. We won’t harass the writers and the actors. In fact, we won’t make a fuss at all. You know why? Because at the end of the day, we got bills and the rent is due.
