"Who Is Superman? A Private Interview with Lois Lane" a fancomic about hope and connection. I've had this story in mind for so long and I'm very excited to be able to share it at last. Thank you for reading, and happy Lunar New Year!

In case it seems like every third comic has Batman in it... you're not wrong. He's been in 38.6% of DC issues since 2020, with a stark increase of 8% each decade since the 90s and surpassing Superman in popularity. Despite this, there's been a massive drop off of comics where he is teamed up with Superman or a Robin (although the amount of group team ups between Batman Family members has increased, as well as Nightwing solos).

Lois buys Clark a "Not to say I'm Superman but Superman and I have never been seen together in the same room" shirt because it's the funniest thing she's ever seen and Clark wears it because it's also the funniest thing he's ever seen. They are made for each other.

MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN IS SO GOOD
Tumblr media
Okay, so not only do the character designs absolutely pop off, but the show seems to genuinely understand Superman. In movies he's always either portrayed as a Jesus figure or a cold, unfeeling alien who only cares about Lois Lane. But in this show he's just a guy who wants to help people, and that's how he got his powers in the first place. Not to mention the fact that the animators were instructed to make him cute/hot, which worked perfectly. He's a big, beefy himbo, and he cares about everyone, not just Lois Lane. And speaking of Lois Lane, she finally has a character! She's very much a manic pixie dream girl, but not in the male gaze sort of way. She's clearly her own character, being an energetic news reporter who cares more about getting the story than keeping her job. Jimmy Olsen is similarly energetic, being a sort of conspiracy theorist (though I think all his conspiracies might be true in this universe), and their combined energy bounces off of Clark's awkwardness really well. I can't wait to see more of this show, and I just hope that the show does well so more comic-accurate iterations of Superman become mainstream. Anyways, thanks (or sorry) if you read all this, now here's some fanart by @38___sr on Twitter of Clark being an Anime Girl.

Sometimes, talking about religious trauma with other people is really funny for me (not funny, haha, more funny 'I should probably talk about that more in therapy) because it feels like I'm playing with a stacked deck.
Like, Mothman will talk about growing up with Catholic Guilt™, and another friend will talk about the shit they encountered in a Baptist church, all awful, truly horrific, damaging stuff.
Then they'll ask, "What about you?" and I hesitate because it's like, well, my dad was raised by his strict patriarchal Irish Catholic grandfather and Austrian Jewish grandmother* because his Jehova Witness mother was deemed unfit, so like, he'll argue with God, but feel really bad about it while also feeling the need to tell everyone about it.
And then there's my mother, who was raised Calvinist but fell into Christian Science for a while before falling fully into New Age Occultism tinged with insane family lore** while still holding onto the purity of Calvinism and the faith healing of Christian Science, which led to my parents raising me as an indigo starseed child sent to earth by angels to absorb the pain of others as God intended and that's why I never got taken to the doctor because it wasn't my body that was in pain, it was my soul.
And it's like, I swear I'm not trying to one-up you, I SWEAR. My family tree is just a smorgasbord of poor life choices and questionable reasoning ability.
----
*Arguably, the only normal one in the entire family who did her best to keep a lid on everything. ** Apparently, there was some family curse on my mother's mother's side from pissing off a fairy that caused all kinds of health problems that no one looked into because it was "the curse." They're still somewhat mad at me for going to a doctor and getting diagnosed with a genetic connective tissue disorder. Though, arguably, what is a genetic disorder if not a familial curse?

On my dyslexic!Lois Lane shit again and I can’t stop picturing Clark showing up to his first day at the daily planet and being super (no pun intended) intimidated bc he’s gonna be seated next to thee Pulitzer Prize winning Lois Lane!!! He looks over to see her clearly frustrated so he starts wondering what could possibly be stumping thee Pulitzer Prize winning Lois Lane and then he just hears her quietly singing “this shit is bananas b-a-n-a-n-a-s” as she types bananas and looking satisfied and he falls in love instantly

my associate @fernwehsearc is just one of several unaffiliated people who i've witnessed visibly, audibly swooning over the mere mention of the r-pat bat. when i said i didn't get the hype, they sternly reminded me that i am, in fact, A Lesbian. point taken.

Nobody is doing it like Lois Lane. She's a black belt in karate. She was learning how to shoot guns when she was six. She knows a Kryptonian martial art/meditation technique that normally is very dangerous for humans. She was sneaking around trying to get dirt on megalomaniacs and impressing the chief of the Daily Planet when she was fifteen. She won two Pulitzers. She once made a deal with Luthor to save the Daily Planet and in exchange she would have to kill one story about him anytime he chose, but then when he offered to rescind the deal after she saved his daughter she refused the offer because she was offended he thought she would save someone for the sake of getting out of their deal. Then she double crossed him when he decided to cash in on the deal. On her honeymoon she singlehandedly fought an entire cartel to rescue her husband. When asked what she would be the god of she decided to become the God of Integrity. She jumps off bridges to get a ride to work from Superman. Thee woman of all time <3
