As soon as your eyes fluttered open, both of your hands lift up to cover your mouth — bedazzled at how the dress hugs your figure so well. Getting a closer look of the embroidery of your dream dress, it just hits you to reality that you're getting married soon to your college sweetheart. The rhinestones gave a bling that would make you stand out from the rest of the crowd as the bride of the wedding reception.

Ahh you swear you could feel your water works leaking from your eyes, but you need to stay strong!! You can't let your fiancé see you in a state.

Just yet at least.

Wiping away the tears gently, you twirled around at the new dress inside the large fitting room. This is it, this is the moment you've been dreaming for ever since you and Azul, graduated from the prestigious Night Raven College.

You didn't really expected to happen in just a few years time, Azul's cafe business took off quite quickly but it's no one's surprise no?

And now here you are about to walk down the aisle to him in your dream wedding dress.

After prepping your hair and makeup you took the bouquet of flowers from one of the tables staring at the gorgeous placements in awe. Your body however froze as your heart beats faster every second pass, even if you're bright about your big you can't help but feel nervous.

Especially when your name is soon called by one of the coordinators.

“It's time.”

You turn your head to them and gave a small nod as they stood away from the door closing it from behind. You followed them but stopped at the doors. Standing there nervously, you attempt to calm down your beating heart that's going to jump out any moment now.

Not only it's your wedding day, it's the dream dress you've been waiting to show Azul.

Once you faintly heard your name, your heart started to beat quickly again as both doors then open to reveal the venue of the place.

An outdoor wedding near the seashore, unironically the wedding was cheaper than an indoor one. There weren't much decorations needed because the beautiful sight of the gentle waves and sunset was more than enough.

The guests stared at you in awe, the faint whispers about how beautiful you look in white surely gave you a boost of confidence.

But the real reaction you were looking forward is towards the man that's now standing right in front of you.

Azul kept both of his hands together, you could see him tense his body up and inhaling a shaky breath. His attempt on not breaking composure was partially successful to say that the least. The tears in Azul's blue eyes only prick in the corner of his eyes and surely no one would have spot it.

“You look amazing, angelfish.” His lips curved upwards as he took you by the hand and help you up the steps.

“And I cannot wait to be wed to you.”

Another little Buddy Daddies Fic because I can’t be normal about liking things

Miri’s Mistletoe Trap

Synopsis: Kazuki and Rei kiss for the first time when Miri tricks them into standing under mistletoe together.

Word Count: 1816

Warnings: None. Very vague spoilers.

Other tags: FLUFFY AS HELL, Kazurei, first kiss, mutual pining, sort of confession.

(Also, I don’t know if kissing under mistletoe is a thing in Japan, I just thought this idea was cute)

It was a cold evening in February. Kazuki was in the kitchen rolling out cookie dough while Rei and Miri were snuggled up on the couch under a blanket playing Morio Kart. Miri cheered as the race finished, causing Kazuki to look up and smile.

It had been a few months since they made their dramatic departure from the organization, and Kazuki and Rei were happier than they had ever been. Of course, they had their fair share of challenges to overcome, but every time Kazuki noticed a little domestic moment like this, he was reminded about how all of that was worth it.

“Papa? Can I have some water?” Miri asked.

“Of course sweetie, Rei, could you grab it?” Kazuki said, holding up his hands to show they were caked in flour and cookie dough.

Rei nodded and tousled Miri’s hair playfully before getting up. He grabbed a plastic cup from the cabinet and went to stand next to Kazuki at the sink when Miri jumped up and yelled triumphantly.

“HA I got you!” She squealed, pointing at her fathers. Kazuki and Rei both jumped slightly in surprise.

“Miri, what are you talking about?” Kazuki asked, wiping his hands off on a kitchen towel. She continued giggling for a moment before pointing above their heads.

“You fell right into my trap!” She said, proud of herself. Kazuki and Rei glanced at each other in silent confusion before looking up to see what she was pointing at. Kazuki immediately became visibly flustered while Rei just continued to look up blankly at the red and green flower taped to their ceiling.

“Miri! What the- How did you even get up there?” Kazuki said, trying to keep his cool.

“Uncle Kyu helped me earlier when you were doing errands!” She said, causing Kazuki to curse under his breath. He was so going to beat Kyu’s ass for this later.

“I don’t get it.” Rei said flatly.

“Hinata told me that when you stand under mistletoe you have to kiss!”

“Mistletoe?“ Rei mumbled, still confused.

“Miri, first of all! You never have to kiss anyone if you don’t want to. Ever. In any situation. Second. I’m pretty sure Mistletoe is only a Christmas thing” Kazuki took a deep breath before continuing. “Why do you want us to kiss?”

“Because I love both my papa's so much and I want you to love each other and people who love each other kiss” she said, her voice getting a little quiet and dreamy. “Like when they find true love's kiss at the end of the movie” Miri had been on a princess movie kick recently, and they all seemed to end the exact same way, with them finding their true love and sharing a kiss before riding off into the sunset.

“Cute.” Rei said quietly. Kazuki had to take a moment to compose himself over how adorable his daughter was.

“Miri, Papa Rei and I do love each other, we just…don’t kiss.” Kazuki explained gently.

“But Why not?” Miri pouted. Kazuki opened his mouth to respond, but genuinely couldn’t come up with an honest answer.

“No reason why we can’t” Rei surprisingly spoke first. Kazuki’s head whipped around to him.

“What?!” Kazuki desperately tried to read Rei’s face, but was coming up empty as his own mind raced with confusion, fear, and hope.

“I can’t think of a reason. Can you?” He said with a shrug. “It’s not like it’d kill us.” Rei said it casually, but Kazuki was reeling.

“Yeah but—“

“Pleeeeeeeaaaaaassseee” Miri pleaded, interrupting Kazuki. He looked back to her and, seeing the cute little pouty face she was making, melted.

“Alright alright you win.” Kazuki threw his arms up in the air. Rei nodded and took a step closer.

Before Kazuki could lose his nerve, he grabbed Rei’s shoulders. Giving Rei one last chance to back out if he was uncomfortable, Kazuki closed the distance and quickly leaned in.

The intention was just a quick peck, but once Kazuki felt Rei’s lips pressed against his own, he found that he didn’t want to pull away.

“Yay! I can’t wait to tell Uncle Kyu!” Miri cheered, causing Rei and Kazuki to pull apart. Miri ran back down the hallway to her room, giggling that her plan worked.

“Miri! No Running in the House!” Kazuki called down the hallway, shaking his head. When he turned back to Rei he noticed that his partner had been staring at him this whole time, his steel gray eyes slightly wide. A moment of tense stillness passed between them.

“Man. Kyu is never gonna let us hear the end of it” Kazuki finally said with a strained chuckle.

“That’s fine.” Rei said quietly, still staring Kazuki down. Maybe Kazuki was imagining it, but he could swear he could see the slightest pink shadow on Rei’s cheeks. They were still standing close together.

“Makes sense that my first kiss would be with you.” He finally mumbled.

“Wait! You’ve never-?!” Kazuki stopped himself. Rei didn’t exactly have a normal upbringing, even by (former) hitman standards, and was never allowed to have any attachments, so of course Rei had never kissed anyone. Kazuki chastised himself for not connecting the dots on that sooner.

“Sorry—if I had known that was your first kiss, I would have done a better job” Kazuki joked, trying to ease the tension.

“It was…nice…” Rei said, a softness in his voice. Kazuki felt his face get even more warm.

“Yeah?”

“It was soft. And warm.” Rei’s mouth tipped upward to an ever so slight smile that caused Kazuki's heart to hammer in his chest. “It was nice” Rei repeated

“Well, I’m glad you liked it. But just know I can do better than that.” Kazuki blurted out without thinking.

“How?” Rei asked. Kazuki looked at his partner, finding the genuine curiosity in his eyes incredibly endearing. He decided to take the leap.

“Want me to show you?” Kazuki asked. Rei tensed for a moment, blinking as he processed Kazuki's question, before giving a small nod.

Kazuki moved one hand to cup Rei’s cheek and leaned in, this time slower and more deliberately. He pressed his lips to Rei's. Kazuki lingered in the kiss for a moment, relishing it. He had kissed a fair number of people before, and had even been in love, but this felt different. It just felt right.

Even though Kazuki didn’t want it to end, he also didn’t want to overwhelm Rei. He reluctantly started to pull back. However, before he could, he felt Rei’s hands gripping the front of his shirt to pull him back in. He sighed against Kazuki’s lips at the added pressure, sending shivers down Kazuki’s spine.

Kazuki couldn’t believe this was happening. That Rei didn’t want this to stop either. Of course, the thought of kissing Rei and exploring that side of their relationship had crossed Kazuki’s mind. They were living together and raising a child together after all, so it was kind of hard to not consider the possibility. But Kazuki didn’t want to overcomplicate things more, and resigned himself to sitting on those feelings so that he didn’t ruin what they had.

Admittedly, those thoughts had been getting harder and harder to ignore lately. Sure, he was perfectly happy with their situation before, but he’d be lying if he said he had never fantasized about this moment.

He moved the hand on Rei’s face to the back of his head, fingers tangling with his hair as his other hand rested on Rei’s waist. He pulled Rei towards him, trying to deepen the kiss even more. Rei let go of Kazuki’s shirt and wrapped his arms around his neck. They clung to each other for dear life as their lips met again and again.

Though neither of them wanted to stop, eventually they had to pull back to catch their breath. When they did, they stayed holding each other, foreheads pressed together.

“You’re right. That was better” Rei said matter of factly, causing Kazuki to chuckle.

“Told ya.”

Rei gave a quiet laugh. Kazuki smiled. Ever since Miri came into their lives, Rei had started to smile and laugh a bit more, and every time it happened Kazuki’s heart felt warm.

“To be honest. I’ve thought about doing that for a while.” Kazuki admitted, his voice barely audible. Rei stayed holding Kazuki but pulled back slightly to look at his face.

“Why didn’t you?” He asked in a serious tone. Now that Kazuki could see his face he could see just how much his partner was blushing too.

“I mean…I don’t know…I didn’t want to scare you off…I wasn’t sure if you felt that way about me” He stammered. Rei stared at Kazuki in disbelief for a second before cracking a smile.

“You realize we have a kid together and are basically married right?” Rei teased.

“Hey! I don’t know, we didn’t exactly have a kid the normal way and—“

“I sleep in the same bed as you”

“Okay but…wait…I could ask you the same question” Kazuki said, mad at himself that he had probably (definitely) missed some signals.

“I didn’t know how to initiate it” Rei shrugged. “Like I said, I’ve never done this before”

“Huh. Fair enough” Kazuki said after a moment.

“At least Miri was smart enough to figure it out for the both of us”

“Yeah…I can’t believe we fell into a trap made by a five year old.” Kazuki chuckled.

“She’s smart” Rei repeated, the corners of his mouth tipping back up into a small smile. “Must be those hitman genetics at work” He added, causing Kazuki’s face to scrunch up in playful annoyance.

“One time! I said that one time! You’re never gonna let that go are you?” Kazuki sighed.

“Nope.” Rei said, leaning forward to plant a cautious but sweet kiss on Kazuki’s cheek. “And it was more than one time.” He whispered in Kazuki’s ear.

Before Kazuki could retort, they heard the little pitter patter of Miri’s feet coming back towards them. They reluctantly separated as she turned the corner, holding a piece of paper.

“Look!” She said excitedly. Instead of just picking the paper up, Rei chose to hoist Miri up with his good arm. Once she was sitting comfortably on his hip, he took the drawing from her and examined it.

“Heh.” Rei chuckled, flipping the paper around to show to Kazuki. It was a crayon drawing of Rei and Kazuki as stick figures, kissing under mistletoe. On top of the drawing Miri had written “Phase 4: Kiss!” Implying she had drawn out the other steps of her plan.

“She’s our daughter alright.” Rei said with a mixture of amusement and pride. Kazuki laughed and wrapped his arms around Rei and Miri.

“She sure is…Though she fell into her own trap!” He said, giving Miri a big kiss on the cheek. Rei followed, giving Miri a kiss on the forehead and Kazuki a quick peck on the cheek. Miri giggled again, music to both of their ears.

i want to write something but i don't think "damn bitch, you live like this?" as the opening sentence of kazuki seeing rei's apartment for the first time is appropriate

#buddy daddies #also im not entirely sure of how rei'd got the apartment #i know it's his apartment but from pre-canon vc drama we know that he's been living in a hotel until his credid card was blocked #that would mean he ran away from home and hide away from his father until at some point he came back and got money again #yeah im writing this tags and it starts clearning out #he probably went to kyu he suggested he should start taking jobs so he did #smaller ones but that wouldn't be enough #kazuki at the time also didn't have a house but crashed in some hotel i guess #rei slept in kyu's cafe sort of like a guard because didn't want a bed anyways #at this point i can just write lol

"This is the last time! Last time I leave you to remember things on your own," Kazuki fumed as he dragged Rei down the street. "I swear, I'm gonna fill the house with alarm clocks then we'll see if you forget about Miri again."

"Don't, it's too noisy," grumbled Rei.

And it took all of Kazuki's self control not to smack him right at that moment.

"Whatever, we're already late. C'mon!"

Rei muttered something that sounded suspiciously like fucking hell. But whatever response Kazuki was about to give died down in his throat at the sight that greeted the two of them as soon as they reached the daycare.

In front of the closed gates stood Kugi Kyutaro, the last rays of sunlight catching on his glasses while his expression remained terrifyingly neutral. To his left, their daughter was bouncing happily on her feet as she held Kyutaro's hand.

"You're late."

"Papas!" beamed Miri, blissfully unaware that this might be Kazuki and Rei's last day on earth.

Kazuki reached out with trembling hands but Rei had already crouched down, scooping Miri up in his arms when she crashed into his chest. Kyutaro had started walking away, leaving the family to glance between each other before following him a few careful steps behind.

"Kyu-chan, I—," Kazuki's eyes darted over to his partner, "We can explain, I promise."

"Save it," Kyutaro brushed it off, "we'll talk when we get to Rei's apartment."

There was a beat, Kazuki held his breath as Rei easily switched Miri to his other arm.

"The Yadorigi is closer, though."

Forget about death, Kyu-chan would definitely end up firing them at this rate.

A job, a rare occasion to be free even if it meant their arms were littered with razor blades and barbed wire, something Kyusaku had to learn to do on their own. Curse and be done, maybe get a treat on their way back- But something went wrong, and while they no longer properly felt pain, for it all felt the exact same, it felt woozy and weak. Even though blood trickled the same as it had when they cursed Dazai's friend, this time it had them stumble and falter. Like the world was weird and then it was darkness, inky black holding them tight.

They wake like the world was about to end, with wide eyes and fitful limbs, The smell of antiseptic burns too harshly and the pure white too harsh on their eyes. But they freeze when they hear it, simple words for someone who never seemed to care, not that Kyusaku ever expected it. A small frown as they try to calm down. But they can't. They just can't. The endless white and the people dressed the same like they wanted to blend in and cut them apart when they didn't seem to notice- Like Kyusaku was foreign and weird, like an alien.

Kyusaku hates hospitals.

"I don't want to be here. I don't. I don't. I don't!!! I rather be locked up. Get me out-" A ramble, hurried words and tangled fears. They don't want to be here- Why were they here? Was the boss abandoning them, returning them to the hospital they had been taken from? Was Chuuya here to tell them that? That they messed up too much and too often? That Dazai was right to keep them locked up like an animal?

So writing fanfic again after a while. Have two WIPs in progress for TUC. One is based on Season 2 episode 4 where So Mun's gunshot wound was more severe. Will also try to incorporate him being able to heal himself cause I mean he can use telekinesis and also go inside people's minds like Hana does so why not that?

The other one is for the finale where he doesn't wake up after convincing Ma Juseok to come back. He won't be in a coma again, more like healing sleep? Might include a sentient Yung with that cause in my mind he's like Yung's adopted child or something.

That's the rough outline of it I guess. Good luck to me.

That wierd time manga was on the 3DS eshop

Available only in Japan and France

Dokopon Choice

While looking for MH Stories on hshop (not gonna sugarcoat it, that was what I was doing)

I ran into something that caught my eye... a strange name Ive heard of every MH game on the platform so something was off when I saw a name I didnt recognize.

MH Flash... huh?

It coudnt be a game considering it was literarly 75MB and there were like 7 different volumes

looked it up and realised that was a manga... I thought it was going to be some sort of tie in bonus, like a series of 3D videos, because I never heard of anything like the 3DS having actual manga publications but...

No that wasnt the case actually, it was just a whole issue of Monster Hunter Flash

The menu did leave me asking some questions. it didnt look like something capcom themselves made, instead a platform that was made by a third party which lead to the question

"are there more of these?"

yes. there were.

And so I present to you one of the neatest things ive ever ran into while looking into the 3DS's catalogue

The French and Japanese eshop's selection of digital manga!

"どこぽんちょいす" - "Dokopon Choice”

Sadly its french equivalent had no such name holding everything together

No this is not homebrew, no this isnt a joke. This happened.

Where do I begin...

The 3DS has a neat history with ebooks

There were two services that provided ebooks on the system, these being: HONTO for 3DS and Dokodemo Honya-San. both exclusive to japan.

Honto had a more general ebook line up. no manga

Honya-San was kinda like that but you also had a whole lot of manga baby

So where does Dokopon Choises fit into this?

Well Dokopon Choise was the name for standalone releases of things found on Honya-San

Imagine it this way, in Honya-san, releases are treated like DLC

Through Dokopon its treated as its own app.

Purchases of Dokopon apps and Honya-San books are treated as separate so you could end up buying the same thing twice (its actually aknowledged on every dokopon release on the eshop, be careful that you dont buy the same thing twice by accident)

Both were managed by Librika, a digital book distribution company

That leads the question as to why I didnt make this post about Dokodemo Honya in general as that service has alot of things to talk about

Well Honya-San didnt make it out of japan... The only one that got out of japan was Dokopon Choise which is why I want to focus on it.

its an incredibly neat oddity for the system

Some day Ill have to do more propper research on HONTO for 3DS but for now lets focus on the french manga

So Japan makes sense but... France? why france of all places

Well from what ive read, apparently out of most countries in Europe. France had the largest audience for manga, which made something like this profitable.

Even then because of the small selection that made it over, it mostly feels like a small experiment more than anything

I did go ahead and verify this list and indeed. this was everything that came out of this in france.

All of these with various amounts of volumes released. I believe the series with the most volumes on the service was that of beyblade metal fusion at a whopping 11 Volumes

What an odd bunch. France never got Dokodemo Honya san in any shape or form. only these series.

I wonder if the experiement worked out in any way.

Something I find wierd is that some of the ones here never got a Dokopon release in Japan. They most likely were stuck on Honya San

I sadly dont have any pricing information on these, there is alot I havent been able to find about the french releases... I hope some day more about these comes to light

So what about Japan? well to start, the selection was waaayy bigger

Something I would like to note is that these were sold as multi packs on the eshop. Tonari no Atashi has a Vol.1-10 pack which retailed at ¥4,400

The prices for the packs with multiple volumes are all over the place but they tend to float arround ¥1,800 to ¥5,125

Price depends on the amount of volumes offered and the series.

Jimikoi and 2.5D boyfriend were the cheapest of the entire lot at ¥400 and ¥880 respectively

And the most expensive release was in fact Tokyo Ghoul Remastered at a whopping ¥7,000 for Volume 1-14

The list here did not include prices because most of these had multiple... multi packs like dragon ball.

Dragon Ball had like 1 pack for every arc and that would have been a pain to keep up with. maybe some other time I will go ahead and organize that info.

Something I found interesting is how the file size for the JP manga are considerably bigger than that of the french releases, most likely due to the french releases not being in multi packs.

The French releases were 75 MB a pop. No multi packs to my knowledge.

While the japanese releases often go over 200 MB. Most likely due to having most of the volumes in one singular download.

Keep in mind that the list here is only for what was on Dokopon Choise. Dokodemo Honya-San had even more things... but sadly due to the nature of it being a digital platform and its downloadable content not being shown on the eshop... I cant find more info on what was on the service...

Most I have is tweets of people talking about the service.

I found a tweet that showed how JOJO was on the service, ive seen tweets mentioning people reading nichijou on the service too

Dokopon Choise got new releases from 2013 all the way to 2016.

Last release being Nisekoi in Japan.

I sadly dont have data on when they released for french audiences, I just have data on the JP releases.

All of the releases under Dokopon Choises were removed from the eshop in January 31, 2019

Users could buy manga up to February 28, 2020

Luckily for anyone who purchased content on the 3DS, they had a chance to move their 3DS library to their web library.

Honya San wasnt only on 3DS, same as HONTO, it had a web client under the name Dokodemo Bookstore

To my knowledge it seems like users who still have the app, on their 3DS, with downloaded books can enjoy them just fine.

And despite Librika merging with MEDIA DO in 2019, it seems like Librika still operates their digital bookstore to this day on mobile platforms.

What an odd piece of nintendo history isnt it.

I thought I was going to make a short post for once but no I ended up having to do a bunch of research for this. Because if I didnt... who was going to talk about the damm book services on 3DS.

I think making the list of manga on the service was the worst part.

But yeah! I recommend giving these a shot! even if you dont understand japanese, its still really cool being able to show off manga on your 3DS outside of the homebrew manga reader.

Ima leave this off with two silly tweets about boobs being uncensored on the release of Dragon Ball on the platform lmao.
