Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is one of the most successful shonen manga in recent years, with tens and tens of millions of copies around the world and an ever-expanding franchise. The record manga born from the pen of Koyoharu Gotouge has in fact succeeded in the feat of ousting the legendary One Piece from the top of the Shueisha house sales and the film, Demon Slayer: the Mugen Train, has become the anime film with the highest revenue in history. First published in February 2016, Demon Slayer was therefore one of the backbones that have supported the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine over the past few years. In the spring season of 2019 the opera was then transposed into an animated adaptation by studio Ufotable and from there the franchise of Tanjiro and companions flew into the stratosphere, reaching levels of popularity that had never been seen before. How not to mention, for example, the renowned episode 19 of the first season, which completely broke through the barriers of prejudice and the mainstream by plunging to the top of Twitter's worldwide trending. A survey was recently proposed on the Ranking. net website, which deals with drawing up rankings of the most varied genres and topics. However, despite the not particularly large pool of voters, these types of polls are often indicative of a general trend or liking that, as votes increase, would see its hierarchy consolidate instead of being overturned.
So no matter what, let’s take a look at the 20 favorite Demon Slayer characters from the Japanese public, in descending order.
20) Yoriichi Tsugikuni 19) Ukogi 18) Doma 17) Kanae Kocho 16) Makomo 15) Tengen Uzui 14) Akaza 13) Sabito 12) Sanemi Shinazugawa 11) Inosuke Hashibira 10) Obanai Iguro 9) Mitsuri Kanroji 8) Tanjiro Kamado 7) Kanao Tsuyuri 6) Shinobu Kocho 5) Nezuko Kamado 4) Kyoujurou Rengoku
3) Zenitsu Agatsuma
2) Muichirou Tokitou
1) Giyuu Tomioka

“Intruding on one soul is something I won't allow. This trespassing of yours shall not stand!”
-          Tanjiro Kamado, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (Ep. 04)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for November 2023. After two years of being stuck in “Crunchyroll Jail”, Demon Slayer has finally returned to the better cartoon show to premiere the highly acclaimed Mugen Train arc. And it’s not alone, as Dr. Stone has also returned to resume the second half of the 3rd season, the New World, while IGPX returns to the lineup for the first time in 10 years, as Discotek releases an HD Remaster of Toonami’s first original series.
November 4-5 was a post-Halloween marathon night, as Toonami re-aired Part 1 of Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters, in addition to the first two episodes of IGPX due to the extra hour the block got due to the end of Daylight Savings. In terms of trending, both shows trended in the USA, although the former got some assistance as Part 2 was just released in Japan and on simulcasting. For the night of November 11-12, the premiere night of Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone, #Toonami trended in the USA alongside Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr alongside Demon Slayer and One Piece. On November 18-19, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter and on Tumblr, while Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone both trended in the US. And on November 25-26, #Toonami trended in the USA alongside Dr. Stone and IGPX.
The feature for November 11 was a new ID bump made by The Foreign Correspondents' Club. You can check it out below.
The feature for November 18 was a game review of Sea of Stars, a role-playing video game by Sabotage Studio that is available on modern platforms. TOM and SARA have called it a modern-day rendition of the classic Chrono Trigger video game.
youtube
And for November 25, Toonami aired another new ID bump featuring TOM and SARA trying out an explosive new weapon, this time from MoreFrames AnimationCo.
With Demon Slayer finally back on the lineup, Toonami has plenty of Demon Slayer to catch up on. Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train arc is only 7 episodes long, given it’s a TV version of the hit Mugen Train film. But there is also the Entertainment District Arc, which will be an addition 11 episodes in length to complete season 2. Followed by the 11-episode Swordsmith Village Arc that makes up season 3. During the Aniplex panel on Saturday morning at Anime NYC, it was announced that the Entertainment District Arc will also be making its way to Toonami on January 13, following the completion of Mugen Train.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Demon Slayer fans will have plenty more to celebrate in the future, as the official Kimetsu no Yaiba Japanese website has already confirmed that a fourth season is in production, to cover the Hashira Training arc. Additional details are to be revealed on December 10.
When it rains, it pours, and with Toonami rekindling relationships with Aniplex (and potentially all of Sony-Crunchyroll LLC), Aniplex USA has announced on Friday at Anime NYC this weekend that a second show is also on the way for the better cartoon show. Lycoris Recoil, an original anime series directed by Shingo Adachi, the character designer and chief animation director of Sword Art Online, will be joining the Toonami lineup on January 20, as the first new acquisition in the 2024 calendar year.

Luffy from One Piece made his debut on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade this year, as he had his own float parading down the streets of New York City for the very first time. Anime was well represented, as he was joined by a Goku float from Dragon Ball Super, as well as a Christmas themed Pikachu and Eevee float from Pokémon. Unfortunately, Luffy’s hat would deflate after it got snagged by a tree branch due to strong winds in the area. The float was still able to fly and would later be showcased on the NBC broadcast, albeit with Luffy’s straw-hat looking like a bucket hat as a result of the tear and partial deflation.
Tumblr media
Finally, Toonami has announced marathon nights for Christmas and New Year’s as the block winds down with the year coming to a close. For Christmas week on December 23, Toonami will air all 7 episodes of Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 it has aired to that point from Midnight to 3:30 a.m. EST. While for New Year’s week on December 30, Toonami will air all 7 episodes of Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train arc from midnight to 3:30 a.m.
Until next time, we hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving, congrats to the Texas Rangers for winning the World Series, and see you again next week as always.

I'm in the middle of falling back into a several season long anime that I've rewatched 1000 times already and would like to avoid that, first and foremost because I do not have the time for that.
Do you have any anime recommendations I could try out to stave off the impulse?
The ones that stand out in my mind are:
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (long series at 64 episodes but REALLY good and kind of a must-watch)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (two seasons at 44 episodes but the animation is great and so is the music)
Jujutsu Kaisen (banger show w/ banger animation, 24 eps)
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (12 eps, but god it's STILL got me dead on the floor. hope you like emotional damage)
Kill la Kill (24 eps + an OVA and imo a great time if you like anime that's unashamedly balls to the wall, i just don't recommend watching this one around other people LOL. it's one of my all time favourites and one of the first anime I actually watched & followed with Jan!)
Little Witch Academia (26 eps! Relatively lighthearted but good show)
Houseki no Kuni (it's a 3D anime, but studio orange is REALLY good at what they do and HNK is pain in a small package. 12 eps)
Haikyuu!! (sorry this one's got a couple of seasons but i promise it's good LOL..... this is quite literally the only sports anime i care about. these kids just have me very emotional ok. though I'd only recommend the first three seasons, just read the manga which is complete for everything else. it totals at like 60 eps)
Trigun Stampede (This one's still airing! It airs on saturdays and got 3 episodes out right now but I watched it this week and i am in pain? im in pain. yes)
Violet Evergarden (did i mention more pain??? because you'll get pain. 13 eps)
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (MORE PAIN. 10 episodes)
Mob Psycho (SO GOOD!!! Three seasons at 37 eps!!!! Definitely a must watch because the animation & story is very charming and captivating. mob's just a guy. just a lil man)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (A mecha anime, but it's the same kind of balls to the wall shit you'd get with Kill la Kill, just that it has a more serious overall tone. Still REALLY good and a classic though!! 27 eps!)
Nichijou (A more slice-of-life type of anime what with its name literally translating to my daily life, but it's. completely unhinged. nothing is normal here. it's extremely silly and a great watch if you just want a series that gets you laughing. 26 episodes!)
Hope this'll keep you busy for a while!! This turned out to be a pretty long list and I know most of these are pretty mainstream, some series are even quite long but it's one I've personally really enjoyed and sometimes rewatch or put on as background noise.

When was the last time you admired some flowers? What kind/color were they? >> Earlier. There's a bunch of flowers in my yard and neighbours' yards that I think are just local wildflowers, but I don't know what their names are; also there were dandelions and tulips to admire. Spring really comes on rather suddenly when it comes to the growing part (the temperature part is much more fickle...). You wake up one morning and suddenly there are PLANTS
Are you in the process of watching or re-watching a series at the moment? >> I am watching The Wire, Riverdale, Foundation, and Jujutsu Kaisen for the first time, and rewatching Stargate SG-1 (well, it'll be a rewatch until I hit around season 5 or so), Red Dwarf, and Person of Interest. And while the first two seasons of Twin Peaks was a rewatch, I'm in The Return right now which is a first-time watch. I'm also finally finishing Steven Universe, slowly but surely (you'd think I'd have finished a show that has 10-minute episodes a long time ago but!)
If so, how many seasons does it have? And what season are you currently on? The Wire: 5 (3) Riverdale: 7 (2) Foundation: 2 (2) JJK: 1 I think SG-1: 10 (2) Red Dwarf: 12 (7) Person of Interest: 5 (5) Twin Peaks: 3 (3) Steven Universe: 5 (5) Has anyone you know gotten a new pet recently? >> No.
How old were you 10 years ago? Who were your closest friends at that point? >> I was 26 and my closest friends were Vlad, Sigma, and Sparrow.
Do you still speak to any of them? >> Vlad and I had a messy breakup, then Sigma and I had one a couple years later, and I live with Sparrow.
Have you ever kissed someone of another race? >> I've kissed a variety of people, yes. Are there any races you wouldn’t kiss? >> This notion is absurd to me.
What is your favorite thing about your best friend? . What do you mostly have in common with your best friend? . Do you like it when men shave their chests? If you are a guy, do you shave? >> I don't favour shaved bodies.
What is your favourite kind of video game? >> Narrative RPGs with deeply customisable player characters. When you’re visiting a site, do you still type “www.”? >> I haven't done that in a long, long time.
What can you hear right now? >> The sounds that can penetrate my noise-cancelling headphones -- namely, the heater, and the upstairs neighbour that just started clomping around literally right before I got to this question. Do you think it’s okay for kids to have cellphones? >> I don't care, really. Give them one or don't. There's positive and negative consequences with both decisions, pick which ones you can live with. Do you watch anime? If so, what are some of your favourites? >> I do. Kill La Kill, Kiznaiver, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bungou Stray Dogs, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and I'd probably still like Ouran High School Host Club if I were to watch it again now.
Do you have any siblings? If so which one of them do you get along with the best? .
What’s your favorite TV show? And who’s your favorite character from it? >> I have no idea what my all-time favourite TV show is, I love so many. I'll just pick a favourite from the TV show I last watched: Alice Cooper (Riverdale). Have you violated any of the 10 Commandments? If so, what? >> I have violated like 5 of those Commandments. Which is fine because, as a non-Christian, I'm not beholden to them.
Do people think you look like either of your parents? Does that offend you? . Do you prefer regular bacon or turkey bacon? >> Regular.
Do you think it’s weird when people talk to their pets like people? >> It's normal to me because it's also what I do. I find the baby-talk stuff to be weird.
What is the last place, other than home, that you stayed overnight? >> Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis.
What is the furthest you have traveled alone? >> From NYC to Colorado and back (and there and back and there and back--). Have you ever dated someone simply for their looks? >> Sure, because when someone I don't otherwise know asks me out, what else do I have to go on to make my decision? (This was back when I did date that way, obviously. Right now, this concept is unfathomable to me.)
Have you ever been drunk? >> Sure.
What was the name of the main character in the last book you read? >> Annie O'Sullivan.
What are three of your favorite toppings for salads? >> For some reason I always blank on this, despite the fact that I love salad and salad toppings. All I can think of is feta. Do you prefer pizza or hot dogs? >> Definitely pizza.
What is your favorite pizza topping? >> Mushrooms.
Is your dad a jerk? .
Is anyone in your family currently in the military? .
What is your favorite dog breed? >> Pibbles.
Have you found any gray hairs on your head? >> I have quite a few grey hairs at this point, yeah. Not quite enough for a salt-and-pepper but definitely well on its way. Do you own a bikini? >> I don't. Never have. I'd like to, though, I think that would be fun. If you were a rockstar, what color guitar would you have? . Would you rather have a personal chef or personal house cleaner? >> I am desperate for a personal housecleaner.
Do you have any zits on your face right now? >> I do not.
What are three of your favorite bakery items? >> Another question I blank on very easily.
What are three creative hobbies you enjoy? .
What are three things you like about church? >> Architecture, basking in the heady vibes of religious fervour, music.
What was the last type of pie you ate? >> Whew, uh.... I have no idea. Maybe sweet potato? Which book did you love when you were younger? >> The Phantom Tollbooth, Many Waters.
Which book series could you read again? >> Well, certainly Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quintet.
Tell me about your first breakup, if you had one. .
Which person would you chose to travel the world with? .
Do you have (a) stuffed animal(s) sitting in your room? Which one(s)? >> I have like 30 stuffed animals in here, I'm not going to list them all.
Have you ever had to do a doubletake on someone ‘cuz they were so pretty? >> Absolutely. Is your last ex currently in a relationship? .
Who was the last female you were introduced to? . Who was the last male you were introduced to? .
Do you use a nightlight? >> I don't.
What’s your opinion on border control? >> Not a fan of borders in general.
What are your favorite things to create? >> Madness and chaos.
What’s something you prefer to keep private? >> My passwords?
Are you good at prioritizing? >> For my purposes and to my whims, certainly.
If you’re not religious, were you ever? What made you lose faith? >> I have always been some flavour of religious, but rarely affiliated with an organised one.
What feeling do you have the most difficulty in expressing? >> I think anger is the only one I have ease in expressing. The rest of them are all a struggle. When was the last time you looked at your significant other/crush’s Facebook profile? .

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training (2024)
Tumblr media
this is gonna be the weirdest dumbest review i'll write yet so buckle up. im gonna preface this by saying i know nothing about demon slayer; i only watched this because a friend of mine wanted to watch it in the theaters with me and i thought it could be fun. i HAVE been curious about it though; i dont watch anime much at all anymore but it seems like demon slayer is one of those absolutely huge names in manga and anime right now, sorta like how naruto was in the 2000's and before that, dragon ball in the 80s/90s. one of these friggin films, demon slayer mugen train, became the highest grossing japanese film of all time, the highest grossing R rated animated film of all time (dethroning sausage party lol) AND the highest grossing movie of 2020, and this was all in the midst of fucking COVID. something's gotta be up. this has to be the greatest anime ever conceived then. if it is, i couldn't really tell from this movie.
i know the general gist of the plot from watching the first episode years ago; some kid is going about his merry day when suddenly almost his entire family is slaughtered by a demon, and to make matters worse, the only survivor is his sister, who has now been turned into a demon. and now he goes on a journey of revenge to kill that demon and make his sister into a human again. pretty cool premise, but i never watched more of it until tonight. oops.
according to reviews i dug up on imdb this is basically just a giant filler movie; the first half is the last episode of season 3 and the second half is the first episode of season 4, which hasn't aired on tv yet; this movie is mainly just for hardcore fans to see that episode before anyone else. i have not seen any of this show past the first episode, so the season 3 stuff was new to me, and i actually liked it quite a bit. the action was fun and very beautifully animated and there is a really cool emotional scene that i'm sure would've really struck a nerve with me had i been watching this show from it's inception. apparently none of this is new footage but from a non-fan i had a lot of fun with it.
the problem comes from its second half, which is supposed to be the main draw; besides one action scene (which was also very cool) at the beginning, it's nothing but exposition and really awkward and uncomfortable comic relief. the first half was so serious with it's grizzly and intense action and now we're just doing wacky cartoon faces and doing funny screams a lot. just seems really bizarre; in america the movie was rated R but i couldn't tell if this was supposed to be for children or adults. i mean a couple kids DID walk in the theater with what i assume to be their dad and them, me and my friend were the literal only people in the theater. that doesnt have much to do with the review but i just thought it was funny lol.
im sure the second half would've made more sense if i were to have, you know, watched the entire rest of the anime so far beforehand, but they just kept talking about a training session by these mystical demon slayers or whatever and i was so unengaged i took my phone out in the middle of the theater and started looking at twitter. as a non fan it was boring, but if you're not a fan of this anime, there is literally no reason for you to watch this in the first place. it fails as a traditional movie and is more so to just hype people up for the next season of demon slayer to be released. anyone remember evangelion: death & rebirth? no? okay never mind. if you're a fan of demon slayer, watch it if you're just that impatient for season 4 to air (even though what they show in this movie is pretty much all setup and filler with no actual plot progression), and for anyone else who just wants to watch one of those newfangled anime cartoons in theaters, dont even bother.
5/10
NOTE: blond hair guy has the best voice actor ever. i was watching the english dub and i didnt even know human beings could make those kinds of noises. give him the nobel peace prize or something.

My boyfriend's premium subscription comes back on Wednesday so while I wait for that I decided to scroll through Crunchyroll alphabetically and see what I could watch with commercials.
My results so far? Not much.
Animes
'Tis Time for "Torture", Princess (3 eps)
86 Eighty-Six (3 eps)
A Galaxy Next Door (3 eps)
Akira (1 eps)
Anifile (21 eps)
Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest (3 eps)
Assassination Classroom (3 eps)
Attack on Titan (3 eps)
Beast Tamer (3 eps)
Black Clover (3 eps)
BOOCHI THE ROCK (12 eps)
BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense (3 eps)
BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS (25 eps)
Buddy Complex (13 eps)
Chainsaw Man (12 eps)
Classroom of the Elite (3 eps)
Classroom of the Elite Season 2 (13 eps)
Combatants Will Be Dispatched (3 eps)
Cowboy Bebop (3 eps)
Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School (3 eps)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (26 eps)
Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp (3 eps)
Domestic Girlfriend (12 eps)
DON'T TOY WITH ME, MISS NAGATORO (3 eps)
Live Action
Dr. STONE (3 eps)
Dragon Ball (3 eps)
Akagi (10 eps)
Angel Heart (9 eps)
CLIF (20 eps)
Movies
009-1: The End of the Beginning
Aachi & Ssipak
Arcana
Cardcaptor Sakura the Movie 2: The Sealed Card
Chanbara Beauty the Movie: Vortex
Death Bell: Bloody Camp
Death Kappa
I'll keep adding to this list as I go. I can't be the only one who finds this a bit of a scam or something right? If I choose to endure commercials I should have enough to watch to actually make the commercials worth it for me as the customer right? Idk it's practically saying Premium is the only way to use it, but at that point just make the Premium the default. You sign up, subscription payment included. There doesn't seem to be a reason for a commercials option with such a limited selection of episodes in each series to watch.

2023 Anime Round-Up
Favourite Plot Anime
Tumblr media
Favourite Comedy Anime
Tumblr media
Best Adaptation of a Manga I've Already Read
Tumblr media
Very lop-sided seasons this year 😅
Winter 2023 - 1
Spring 2023 - 10
Summer 2023 - 2
Autumn 2023 - 8
TOTAL: 20
In order of ranking - air date - alphabetical
Gold - AKA Excellent
Play It Cool, Guys - The comedic timing on this was excellent. And 10 minute run times! More series need to be shorter given the type of short chapter manga they are based on...
Hell's Paradise - Hotly anticipated by me since I read the first chapter of the manga and thought it was gonna totally be my kinda show. Beautifully animated as expected from MAPPA.
My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 - Kinda surprised I liked this given I'm not really into romance, but I suppose I do really like series that focus on online relationships.
Dr Stone New World (Part 1 & 2) - I've read the manga and this is a good adaptation
Oshi no Ko - I'm reading the manga and this is a good adaptation
Undead Girl Murder Farce - I wasn't sure what this was gonna be like but it was very fun! The chemistry between the two main leads was great and the mysteries were interesting.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - I was interested to see if it was worth buying the manga and the answer is yes.
Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions (Season 1) - I'm reading the manga and I was not expecting Isshiki or Ron to sound as they do.
The Apothecary Diaries (Part 1) - I'm reading the manga and Mao Mao also doesn't sound like I expected. Looking forward more to Part 2 since it will cover story I haven't read yet.
Silver - AKA Good
Mashle: Magic and Muscles - This adaptation did what it could with its source material 😝 Mashle the manga has some pretty high comedic notes but the rest is pretty average
Jujutsu Kaisen (Season 2) - I didn't really like the Shibuya Arc much and some of the fights seemed really drawn out, even the animation couldn't really elevate it for me
16bit Sensation: Another Layer - Goddamn shut-up Konoha. Shrillness aside, this was a fun while also stupid show, although I would have liked to have learnt more about how games were made in the 90s.
Spy × Family (Season 2) - A lot of filler this time round? Disappointing.
Bronze - AKA Okay
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (Swordsmith Village Arc) - I am a bit tired of how this one feels drawn out. I feel like it could be more concise.
Dead Mount Death Play (Part 1) - The animation is mediocre but the story throws enough plot hooks to make me wonder what is going on.
The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons - I feel like I would enjoy this in manga format more. Felt like melodramatic padding to fill the 24 minute timeslot.
Nuh
Skip and Loafer - I would have liked this more if it focused on the unlikely friendship between the girls.
KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! - didn't make it to 3 episodes
The Marginal Service - such a stellar voice cast but the first episode looked like trash
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead - it's meant to be a comedy but I found it too depressing (the work stuff not the zombie stuff)
Migi & Dali - the first episode was weird, would have watched more to see what the hell was going on but the season was too stacked with other shows to watch
Dead Mount Death Play (Part 2) - was deprioritised against other shows. Next season is looking pretty slim so will probably be able to catch up on this one.
Attack on Titan: The Final Season Parts 3 & 4 - I wasn't a huge fan of the series to begin with so I don't think any ending would have satisfied me.

My first impressions on the fall anime lineup (2021)
It’s almost november now, a lot of shows already have 2 or 3 episodes out. These are my first impressions for each of them (Watched Episodes/Released Episodes):
Blue Period. (5/5)
Tumblr media
This one grows on me more and more with each episode. At first I was thrown off because the pacing was weird and similar as in Bakemonogatari it does this thing where there is a lack of background characters. But that can easily be overlooked.
The story: High school student Yatora Yaguchi has a pretty good life, yet he can’t help but feel stuck. Eventually, on a trip to the art room he gets captured by the beauty of a painting. This awakens his passion for art and shows how fullfilling yet desperate the life of an artist can be.
Soundtrack is great, Animation looks good and the crossdresser isn’t used as comedy relief. It’s probably my personal favorite of the season so absolutely recommend.
(9/10)
Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Train (2/3)
Tumblr media
Welll, it is what it is I guess. The first episode was alright, judging by the animation quality it could have been part of the movie. From here on it’s a seven episode long recap. I’ll keep watching so I get a good transition to the next arc.
No complaints about the anime itself on my end, its stunning animation is satisfying to watch 20 times if you will, I just don’t understand why this arc got split into several episodes, seems like they wanted to profit off of it for a little while longer.
(7/10)
Komi can’t communicate (2/3)
Tumblr media
I was happy when it was announced that there'd be an adaption. I read ~200 chapters of the manga back in 2017 and I really enjoyed it.
The story: The main character Tadano happens to start his high school year in the same class as the all-beloved Shoko Komi. Turns out: She has a Speech disorder which turns her goal, to make 100 friends, a lot more difficult. So Tadano takes it onto himself to help her on this quest.
This show could have a lot more potential coming its way, the first episode was merely the introduction. I just hope they wont cut it short like they did with Horimiya. Looking at the number of chapters out right now, there’s easily potential for a season 2.
(7/10)
Mieruko-chan (3/4)
Tumblr media
And here I was thinking we were gonna have a perfectly timed horror anime....
Honestly, the description was pretty intruiging to me at first. The horror section of anime always felt pretty slim in comparsion to others, so getting something new sounded exciting.
The story: High-School student Miko Yotsuya is able to see things others can’t. The most grotesque looking monsters are walking the streets, but only she has to witness them alongside her day-to-day life. Her solution? Completely stone face ignore them as much as possible.
A great concept, but instead of the creepy horror elements I was hoping for, I got several ass shots I don’t care for. Nevertheless, I’m hoping for a “Nagatoro” situation, where the show starts taking itself more serious.
(4/10)
takt op. destiny (3/3)
Tumblr media
What a pleasant surprise. When two big studios start working on a project, the final product is actually pretty decent. I like the way music is implemented as a key element while still having some originality to it.
The story: Our main characters takt and cosette live in a world where the sound of music enrages monsters from a fallen meteorite called “D2″. After an incident with the D2, they are forced to start a long journey while taking care of any monsters that are on the way.
The smooth animation attracted a lot of people, and most of them stuck around for the story. Not like I’m any different. The plot itself has progressed surprisingly little for 3 Episodes, as two of them were flashbacks, so I’m unsure where it’s headed from here. Still definitetly one of the better ones this season.
(8/10)
The vampire dies in no time (3/3)
Tumblr media
There has been a general disiliking for this show in particular.
I cannot relate.
The chemistry between the main characters works perfectly, the animation style fits the show and it has a goddamn armadillo. I’m sold.
The story: Vampire Hunter Ronaldo is on his way to an old castle inhabited by a vampire to bring him down. Turns out he is less of a threat than the child that uses the vampires home as their own personal playground.
(7.5/10)
Visual Prison (3/3)
Tumblr media
....alright fine I’ll talk about this one.
I don’t really know where the plot wants to be going. 5 Minutes in, the show just throws random events at you that even after an explanation, I did not fully understand.
It’s very likely that I am just not the target audience for this sort of anime, but I might keep watching as it still brings me some form of enjoyment. Except for the cat. I hate the cat.
(2/10)
I’m still planning to look at more like Platinum End for example, but that’s for another time.
Honestly if you have something to say about any of the mentioned shows or want to recommend me any other hidden gems from this season, then please do. This season has not been as good as I’d hoped to be honest, I have high hopes for winter for sure.
That’s it for now. See you around.

FEATURE: 21 Great Anime You Should Absolutely Watch In 2021
Tumblr media
Happy Anime Day! With every season bringing a plethora of new series, there are now countless shows and movies, both new and old, to watch. Whether it's adventure, comedy, romance, or drama you're looking for, here are 21 anime series you should add to your watchlist in 2021.
Tumblr media
      1. My Hero Academia Season 5
When it comes to the next chapter of My Hero Academia, 2021 couldn't come fast enough. Season 4 showed audiences just how high the stakes really are and how dangerous the enemies can be. Season 5, which recently premiered in March, will not only deliver high-level action, but we'll also get more time with the great slate of heroes and villains showcased last season.
youtube
      2. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train
After hearing the news of Mugen Train dominating the box office, the time has come for North American audiences to experience this highly anticipated film. Mugen Train will be available for digital release this summer and will help fill the void fans of the series have been feeling since the season ended. And we can always revisit Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in the meantime.
youtube
      3. The Devil Is A Part-Timer
The Devil Is A Part-Timer! offers lots of comedy with all the appeal of your traditional fantasy series, but it takes place in the modern world. Demon Lord Satan gets transported to Tokyo, and while his original goal was to take over his homeland of Ente Isla, Satan finds a better path to world domination ... climbing the ranks at the local MgRonalds! It's fun, it's wacky, and it's one of those series we never thought would get a second season, until now.
youtube
      4. Given The Movie
Talk about a bag of mixed emotions. Like the series, you'll feel proud and happy one minute, and then a pile of mush the next. Given The Movie provides a touching viewing experience following these fractured characters as they navigate their personal feelings, as well as expressing their innermost emotions through music.
Tumblr media
        5. Hunter X Hunter
2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of Hunter X Hunter. Whether you've never seen this series or you've re-watched it hundreds of times, come celebrate this epic title's milestone!
youtube
      6. MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
MEGALOBOX brought all the charm of a '90s anime, but with the story of a futuristic society that takes boxing to a whole other level. Gearless Joe made a name for himself in Season 1, and although things have changed and gotten complicated, he's "not dead yet." For Joe, the fire still burns within him, and he seeks to fight once more.
youtube
      7. Osamake: The Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won't Lose!
Finally, a series where the childhood friend captures the heart of the MC ... I hope? It is a harem after all! Osamake: The Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won't Lose! has a whole lot of comedy, a whole lot of shenanigans, and a noticeable amount of ... revenge. It looks like an epic competition is about to get underway!
youtube
        8. Chihayafuru
If you're experiencing Haikyu!! withdrawals, then Chihayafuru may be the next best sports anime for you! Now don't be fooled. Although Chihayafuru is all about Karuta, a Japanese card game, it still delivers the same level of development and high-stakes settings as other sports anime. This may be one of those series you always saw around but never watched but if there was ever a time to binge, it's now!
youtube
      9. Tokyo Revengers
With the manga receiving much praise, probably one of the most anticipated anime adaptations for 2021 is Tokyo Revengers. Motivated by tragedy, Takemichi Hanagaki finds himself in the past, climbing the ranks of the Tokyo Manji Gang in order to change destiny. He may not appear the toughest, but he's determined to get through the intense situations he finds himself in.
youtube
      10. To Your Eternity
Knowing this is a story from Yoshitoki Oima, creator of A Silent Voice, To Your Eternity, will surely be an adventure that tugs on your heartstrings. Audiences will witness an intimate journey of life and death revolving around an emotionless orb with no identity but can take the shape of those around it. There will be elements of time, drama, emotion, plus Hikaru Utada performs the theme? ... Sold! Want to know more? Check out the full manga catalog here.
youtube
      11. Shaman King
A Shaman King reboot was the best present fans of the original series could've gotten as the title just marked its 20th year since the show premiered back in 2001. Fans will be transported back to their childhood, all the while looking forward to a new story that reflects the manga. The series recently aired in April in Japan, and fans in North America can expect to watch the series sometime later this year.
youtube
        12. Horimiya
If you've been searching for a romance anime unlike any other, then you should watch Horimiya if you haven't already. This series takes everything you know about anime romance tropes, and delivers a series of fresh new twists, making for a warm and cozy viewing experience.
Tumblr media
    13. Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
If in between all the action and comedy you need a good slice of life series about friendship, Anohana is the series for you! The original series aired 10 years ago, but sometimes a trip down memory lane is exactly what you need. Plus a new visual and news of an upcoming project will surely get you pumped to hit play.
youtube
      14. The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2
Thinking he'd be the hero in this new fantasy world, Naofumi Iwatani ended up being hated, shunned, and stigmatized at the beginning of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1. But as he journeyed on, he developed genuine relationships, gained valuable trust, credibility, and gratitude from others. Season 2, airing in October, is ready to continue with Naofumi's journey and progression.
youtube
        15. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S
Miss Kobayashi Dragon Maid has it all! This series draws you in with its cute appearance, but it surprises you with its mature moments and shocks you with some unexpected sizzle. Plus it has dragons, maids, and sweet raps! Be sure to check out the second season's adventures this July.
Tumblr media
    16. One Piece
If you haven't already committed to the legendary behemoth One Piece, now may be a good time to start. The anime is set to hit its 1,000th episode this year, and while diving into a series that's so far along can seem intimidating, if you've been spending a lot of time binging TV lately, this series could be your next big marathon.
youtube
      17. S8 the Infinity
Take the Tony Hawk Pro Skater video games, and mix them together with vibrant, aesthetically pleasing animation and cool action scenes and you have S8 the Infinity. Sports anime has been really expanding its catalog lately, and this series is an entertaining addition to the genre.
Tumblr media
  Image via Hulu
  18. The Wallflower
A little bit of nostalgia is nice to mix into your anime watchlist. If you're a fan of Ouran High School Host Club, then you'll love The Wallflower! It's got some handsome boys, a cute and quirky girl with a fascination for all things dark and scary, and all the ridiculous antics of a harem!
youtube
      19. Death Parade
Death Parade has stayed under the radar, but it at least deserves to be on YOUR radar. A story about the afterlife where a bar represents limbo and its bartender decides the fate of the souls in front of him whether they experience reincarnation, or disappear into the void by playing a game. This is a psychological, thought-provoking drama with some mystery, as we don't know the true nature of the people in the bar, or what led them to where they are. Those secrets will eventually be revealed as the game plays on.
Tumblr media
    20. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Like Hunter X Hunter, this year also marks the 10-year anniversary of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Madoka was and to this day still is a defining series that was a real game-changer for the magical girl genre, showing just how much danger magical girls face. It's a must-watch if you haven't already, so make a contract with yourself to watch or re-watch this series sometime in 2021.
youtube
    21. How To Keep A Mummy
How To Keep A Mummy is a heartwarming episodic series to watch when you want to have a feel-good time! Friends and classmates spend time together with their mythical creature companions: A precious, tiny mummy who anytime he holds anything will make your heart melt, a somewhat hot-headed but caring oni, a clever dragon, and a fluffy baku. After catching up on everything on your watch list, have fun with this series to round out 2021.

My Top 15 Anime of the Decade
So I’ve seen a few people do their top animes of the decade, so I figured I’d make one too. My list will include both anime series, OVAs, and films as I haven’t seen enough in all three catergories to make top 10-15 lists for each one. Also keep in mind these are series I have seen, so chances are there’s series or film you’ve seen and liked will not be on this list. There will be spoilers for these anime, so look away if you don’t want any for the series in the tags below.
Rules:
1. The series, OVA, or film must have be created between 2010-2019 and can’t be a continuation of a series made in previous decades (so sadly BLEACH and FMA: Brotherhood can’t make this list :( )
2. Remakes of series or direct sequels to series from previous decades can be included, just so long as they were made btween 2010-2019.
3. It has to be a series I saw all the way through the decade, with seasons  (not necessarily the story itself) being completed by the end of 2019 (so sadly I won’t be including Made in Abyss, Psycho Pass or Kimetsu no Yaiba as I haven’t finished watching any of them)
Honourable mentions: Erased (2015), Sweetness and Lightning (2016), March Comes in Like a Lion (2016-2018), One Punch Man (2015), Arrietty (2010), Yuri!!! On Ice (2017), Tiger & Bunny, Parasyte: The Maxim (2014), 91 Days (2016), The Anicent Magus Bride (2017), The Promised Neverland (2019), The Boy & the Beast (2015), Mirai (2018), Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail (2010-2011), Zankyou no Terror (2014), and Cells at Work! (2018).

15. Deadman Wonderland (2011)
Tumblr media
Deadman Wonderland was one of the first anime series I saw in the decade. Because of it’s weak ’go read the manga’ ending, I almost didn’t put it on the list. However, after rewatching it, I remembered exactly what I liked about it: the great bromance between Ganta and Senji, the crazy twist and turns in the story and fights, and it’s memorable opening.
14. Violet Evergarden (2018)
Tumblr media
Some have said this show was one of KyoAni’s greatest accomplishments in terms of animation and style, and I whole-heartedly agree. Aside from the goregous animation and colours, the show has beautiful music, an intriguing main character in Violet, and a few well crafted stand alone episodes (my favourite being episode 10).
13. Berserk: The Golden Age Arc (2012-2013)
Tumblr media
The film trilogy that got me into one of the best manga ever created. Some of the CGI is a bit shoddy in the beginning, but gets better by the last film (and is heck of a lot better then 2016 series). Although it doesn’t capture the full spectrum of emotion, grit, and bad-assery of the manga, these films still do a good job at telling the essential story of the Golden Age arc. Of course, the infamous Eclipse scene is brought to life in all it’s horrifying glory, and the final scene in the last film - where Guts has that darn hopeful smile when he sees Casca after all the crap they’ve been through - makes me cry every single time.
12. Kids on the Slope (2012)
Tumblr media
I didn’t expect to like this show as much as I did. I expected a standard coming of age story, and what I got in the end was a great slice of life anime with some catchy music. I remember being in awe of the animation for the drum and piano playing sequences and how well they matched up with what was recorded. It also made me really interested in what Japan was like during the 1960s, and I even went on to do a bit of reading about it.
11. Your Name (2016)
Tumblr media
It’s hard to believe this film only came out three years ago. This film is still a marvel to behold. The animation and style is still breath-taking (just look at the backgrounds!), the story is engrossing, and it’s probably my favourite film from Makoto Shinkai.
10. Death Parade (2015)
Tumblr media
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long watch this one. Death Parade has always interested me, but it wasn’t until the middle of this year that I finally sat down to watch it. I ended up binging the whole show over the course of two days. It’s strong in it’s visuals and concepts, and I consider Decim one of my favourite anime male characters. Oh, and of course, that opening is gosh darn catchy as hell (and an ending that’s just as good on my opinion)!
9. Shingeki no Kyojin (2013-ongoing)
Tumblr media
There’s no doubting the massive impact this series had on the anime community and beyond when the first season started airing. Everytime the studio has brought their A-game for the animation; even to this day, I still watch the vertical maneuvering gear sequences from all the way back in season 1 in complete awe. Every opening just gets me pumped up before the episode has begun and a few other pieces of music are memorable. The characters have gotten better with each season and the story is unfolded damn near masterfully.
8. Boku no Hero Academia (2016-ongoing)
Tumblr media
The classic shounen that builds on the conventional tropes of the genre. It’s given the community some of the most memorable fight scenes in recent anime history - like the fight between All Might and All for One O_O. This has been a series that’s gotten better as it goes along, building up a likeable cast of heroes, a complex villian in Shigaraki, and an interesting world. In particular, I’ve come to really like the conflict within the Todoroki family (including whether or not Dabi is a Todoroki) and the dynamics between the students in class 1 A.
7. Fruits Basket (2019- ongoing)
Tumblr media
It’s good to be watching this series again! It’s even better to see previously excluded scenes finally get animated. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? The characters are quirky, relateable, and so full of life,  the animation and visuals are stunning, and once again, Tohru is my favourite anime character of all time.
6. Anohana (2011)
Tumblr media
I first saw Anohana before it boomed into popularity. I knew after finishing it that it wouldn’t take long before it gained a large following. The characters are believeable and relateable, and the story is compelling from start to finish. To this day, the final episode and the ending theme song bring a tear to my eye.
5. A Silent Voice (2016)
Tumblr media
I have to admit, I was surprised when I heard A Silent Voice was going to be a movie. I didn’t think they’d be able to fit in everything essential to the story into a film; I was thankfully proven wrong. With KyoAni’s signature stunning visuals and animation, the story and it’s characters is just as poignant as they were in the manga. Shoko and Shoya are fantastic characters, and their complex relationship tugs at the heart-strings. I also just love seeing sign lanuage animated and being used in anime.
4. Wolf Children (2012)
Tumblr media
Oh this film ;w; I went to see this with a few friends and had no idea what I was in for. Hana is an inspiring character, her relationship with the Wolf Man is the emotional equivalent of the first ten minutes of Up, and Ame and Yuki are such cute kids. The dynamic between Hana and her children made them feel like genuine family. It also has my favourite anime soundtrack of the decade, and I’ve pop in the CD at least twice a year since I’ve seen it.
3. Devilman: Crybaby (2018)
Tumblr media
Oh wow this show! The emotions were high, the action packed a punch, and the visuals were the best combination of wacky and horrifying. I barely knew anything about the original Devilman, so a lot of what happened in this show came as a shock to me - a pleasent one at that. Akira sent me on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, as did his relationship with Miki. Despite the awful things Ryo did and how much I came to hate him, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him in the final scene (where he finally learned that emotons, the one thing he denounced, weren’t a weakness...a lesson that comes too little too late).  I don’t think I’ll ever forget the last two episodes for as long as I live ;_;
2. Ore Monogatari!! (2015)
Tumblr media
This show came at a time in my life when I needed just pure fluff and sweetness, and it delivered that in spades. It’s a breath of fresh air in the shoujo genre, with so many tropes being flipped on their head . I adore everyhting about this show, from it’s characters to it’s comedy. Takeo and Sunakawa have the greatest bromance in all of anime, Yamato and Takeo are so friggin’ sweet together, and the whole cast is just so likeable. It’s an anime I always come back to when I need something light and fluffy to watch, and is one of the first shows I recommend people who want to get into anime.
1. Mob Psycho 100 (2015-ongoing)
Tumblr media
I knew from the scene in the gif that I would stick with this series, and I was most certainly not disappointed. Mob Psycho is a gem of an anime that I think everyone at least has to give a try. The animation and visual style are unique, using One’s simplistic character designs and switching between 2d, glass painting animation, and shots like one in the gif above. I love the message the series promotes, as seen in the main character who strives to better himself personally rather then rely on his powers. Mob is one of my favourite character of all time, and Reigen is one of the funniest, most dynamic characters I’ve seen in a while; I love seeing these two help each other develop and grow, and how their relationship of mentor-apprentice flips back and forth between them (in one episode Mob has something to learn from Reigen, but a few episodes later, it’s actually Reigen who learned something from Mob). Finally, there’s the awesome battles and fight scenes, which made my jaw drop to the floor one minute, and had me an emotional wreck the next. If you haven’t already, go watch this anime!
