“The Creature” and Eclipse having a chat about Eclipse’s trip home, and how dire it is that he leaves before things get ugly. But, if they do, “The Creature” will have his back…despite what the others think of it.
If anyone wants a lore-dump post on “The Creature,” please just let me know. I want to brain vomit about him so so badly :,) his bond with Eclipse is just so adorable 😭

I really reeeeally loved my initial headcanon of Petey Piranha being a creation of Bowser Jr due to Super Mario Sunshine being his first appearance and the fact that he turns into goop when he’s defeated. But, since he appears in Partners in Time (which chronologically takes place before Sunshine), I guess that means the Petey in Sunshine is yet another creation of Jr based on someone he’s already met.
(That is to say, PiT from the baby bros’ perspective takes place before Sunshine. From the adult bros’ perspective it has to be well after Sunshine I’m pretty sure)

Another example from Der Natueren Bloeme, sent to me by @joeyportfolioey, who says:
The first of the manuscripts in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, KB KA 16 (ca. 1340-1350), you've already posted. It has another scorpion in its section on the zodiac (f. 19r), though. This one sticks out its tongue, which is fitting, because the bestiary text compares the scorpion to a man who will flatter you to your face, but will stick out his tongue when you turn your back.
Unusual choices in this drawing. First, the decision to add trees & grass but still have the animal floating in the air. I can't get after them for scale or perspective, because this is obviously an intentional stylistic decision, just an odd one. Maybe they're trying to represent the habitat in which this creature can be found? That would be a pretty good move on their part.
Second, the everything about this animal. You can kind of see how completely reasonable stuff combines together to have a weird effect. Top-down view? Sure, if I were drawing a scorpion for a bestiary, that's the most reasonable angle to get a good sense of what the animal looks like. I'm sure many modern diagrams of scorpion anatomy do the same. Sticking out the tongue? As pointed out above, this fits with the text, good job. Weird googly eyes? Look, eyes are hard, I get it; put that little black dot just a millimeter out of place and it looks wrong to us. All of that together, though, makes it look like someone ran this animal over. That thing has been flattened.
Also, one more thing before we get into the points. That's... a deer, right? Everyone else sees that? Not in the Old English sense of "a 'deer' is just a generic word for 'animal'", but like a deer deer. A cervid. Which really just makes the "flattened" thing worse, because deer get hit by cars pretty often, so this is just like... yep that's some roadkill there. Chrissakes, it has hooves. Okay, yeah, it has six legs, and the body & tail are more lizardy than anything else, but still, hard to look at it and not think "deer". Or at least "Appalachian cryptid". Anyhow, points:
Small Scuttling Beaſtie? ½ (the scale isn't clear, but the resemblance to a deer makes me think it isn't that small)
Pincers? ✘
Exoskeleton or Shell? ✘
Visible Stinger? ½, there's something going on at the end of its tail but I wouldn't call it a stinger.
Limbs? 6
This does manage to dodge the penalties, though, because I'm pretty restrictive about those. As much as I might look at it and think "deer", that is identifiably not a deer, so no penalty. And I've already committed to the "mammal" penalty only applying if it has four legs and fur, so the extra pair of legs exempts it. (I actually haven't seen any that fit that particular requirement; I just picked it as the most egregious way a medieval artist could draw the Wrong Type of Animal.)
Vibes... I do not like the not-deer. I'm also not thrilled with it looking like it had a bad encounter with a cartoon steamroller. It's not horrible, but I'm not a fan. 2/5.
Total score:
3.6 / 10
Show me one that hasn't been run over and I'll reconsider.

KB as Luigi's toxic ex.
Listen.
Me, @istadris and probably many others who have seen their post have headcanoned that King Boo is Luigi's bitter, toxic ex who is pissed off that he was dumped and wants him back. Last night I came up with a literal timeline of how everything went down from LM1 to LM3 and I want to talk about it.
Lm1: KB was just another villain trying to show superiority, didn't even think Luigi would show up to save his bro and didn't have any traps or plans to defend against him, didn't even think he had to, hence why only the boos and poltergeist were actively aggressive towards Luigi, as it was under KB's command since he didn't want him getting Mario back, who was the actual priced possession at the time. Heck, there weren't even any Toads to save from paintings which shows KB's main goal.
Aftermath: KB is defeated and is shocked that he was defeated by Luigi, the second, shadowed brother of the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom with only a damn vacuum and some tiny elemental spirits he found hidden in the mansion. He wants to be mad but he's more curious and intrigued instead. This then leads him to try and learn more about the green man, heck even getting into Mario Kart, Mario Party and other games like this to try and approach him after hearing that Bowser was invited to these events too (He couldn't get into Smash Bros cause then it'd be too many Mario characters).
Start and end of the relationship: Luigi and KB know each other more personally now and they it ends up with them dating. But, KB is still an egotistical king that wants more power and he finds the purple gem stone that he replaced the red one with and it makes him more insane and aggressive. Luigi is scared and has to break up with him, trying to do so as lightly as possible so KB isn't too hurt emotionally and they can still be friends. Take three guesses on how that went based on LM Dark Moon. KB is furious and in denial, not wanting to let go of Luigi, but when he doesn't succeed he's so enraged that he swears to get revenge for this and keep him forever.
LM Dark Moon: KB learns of the new, docile ghosts that stay calm thanks to the power of the floating crystal called the Dark Moon (which I honestly want to look more into) and shatters it to unleash chaos and gain control over them. By this point, he knew how Luigi was the only one who could actually take on ghosts and boos and that he was more closely associated with EGadd so he was certain that he'd be called to do the job. Also because he kidnapped his brother again. The toads were just there and why not trap them to make it more fun? Afterall, the Toads were proper assholes to Luigi in way too many games so he took this chance to punish them for it. I don't think KB created all these mansions, he just found them and used them as his arenas, letting the ghosts figure out the how each one operated and use it to their advantage, with the boos often keeping them in line to the king's goal at hand. Even so, it was obvious that KB was more focused on doing actual harm to Luigi, with the creatures he created thanks to his new gem, to controlling the ghosts and even cursing the broken pieces of the Dark Moon, to going as far as to open a portal and let so many ghosts in that it nearly lead to the dimension collapsing on itself! All of this in a single night! I also want to point out the part in the scene at Secret Mines, where the boos had the ghosts in those red crystals to make them more powerful, taunting them while they themselves looked scared and trying to free themselves before having all that power forced into them and driving them crazy? That probably gave Luigi PTSD since he went through something similar with a worse outcome. And to top it all off, when he had finally all the pieces and thought he could go back to the lab to prepare to get Mario with probably the help of the ghosts, KB sabotages the camera that pixelated Luigi and went him in a pocket dimension that no one would be able to reach them and he couldn't escape from on his own. Honestly, I loved how they didn't have KB move at all besides him floating and staring at Luigi like that the entire time he mocked him, it made him look way scarier, like the calm anger mixed with menace. KB probably tried to make a deal that he'd let Mario go if he came back to him and ruled the land with him but Luigi refused and the fight started, if he couldn't make Luigi come to him willingly then he'd look lovely in a painting above his throne.
LM3: KB. Has. Lost. It. He is royally pissed and more psychotic than ever. He has become more ruthless and desperate to make Luigi pay before he is captured, knowing he couldn't save anyone, especially his bro and the princess. He was truly lucky he found such a naive ghost to willingly and obediently do anything he asked for and made the hotel probably as luxurious as his own castle as a way to show Luigi that this was the luxury he could have had but won't be able to enjoy now that he controlled ever spec of it. He is set on punishing Luigi in the worse way possible, the bosses using terrifying methods to defeat him, all unique and terrifying. Have you seen the T-Rex one? All ghost bosses had some strategy but that boss fight was immediate with no strategy except brute force and desire to kill. And the hotel is filled with deadly traps, spiked walls that slowly close in on you, locked in a room with deadly gas, axes swinging from the ceiling to slice you, the ceiling being threatened to collapse on you in a slow and torturous way, the list can go on but you get the idea. Luigi is greater danger than he'd ever been and at this point, KB is set on having Luigi alive or dead as long as he's his. He is sick to double-death with him slipping away from him when none of this even needed to happen.

An entire essay about Boouigi? Please, go ahead! Rant and rave to your hearts desire! ❤️
OKay first let's talk about how King Boo is the perfect nemesis to Luigi the way Bowser is to Mario.
Mario is constantly associated with fire, is a physical, direct fighter. He's straightforward and simple in his concept, and so is Bowser : hero vs dragon, loud braggart vs silent humble guy, that kind of thing.
Luigi is...a weird case. He's more flawed and complex; he's scared, he's greedy, he's feeling overshadowed, he's clumsy, he's a loser. He's usually Mario's counterpart when it comes to ability but that's hardly consistent : is the opposite of fire lightning? Ice? Water?
What is Luigi's deal ?
One of the most consistent theme of that yin-yang is the Sun/Moon theme. Mario, bright, burning, shining, warming through his presence and bringing life. Luigi, shy and secretive, hiding in the shadows, weird powers abound, and his games are all focused around night and ghosts (and by extension death).
There's some moral ambiguity in his actions too: fans have been debating for years about how much E.Gadd and King Boo are justified in their respective actions. Is E.Gadd a sinister scientist capturing sentient creatures and people into portraits, or a well-meaning scientist trying to prevent ghosts from being dangerous? Is King Boo trying to protect his Boos or is he just a petty bastard? You wouldn't get that kind of debate about Mario fighting Bowser (unless you're an edgy youtuber trying to make noise)
And people have pointed out before me, but Luigi is often paired with nice people and villains alike, because where Mario is incorruptible as the Hero, Luigi would be more vulnerable to the sirens of evil, even if he never actually turned evil, because he's a sweety pie.
EDIT : HERE'S THE POST I WAS THINKING ABOUT REGARDING LUIGI'S WEAKNESS TO CORRUPTION
He's more like King Boo than he would like.
There's also the supreme irony of Luigi being so terrified of ghosts that of course his main enemies are all kind of ghosts, spirits and such. And yet ! He can be friendly with them! Polterpup of course, and other ghosts, he wouldn't attack them if he could! He just wants to take a nap without someone trying to murder him!!! So it's funny for me to picture him befriending the Boos, including their King, especially when at first the latter wants to KILL KILL BITE BITE. Speaking of which, I love fanarts in which KB has a gaggle of lil boos cheering him up in his attempts to woo Luigi. Go get'im, boss! You're irresistible, surely this time he'll fall for you!
Oh yeah, because I LOVE the trope of KB having been trying to seduce Luigi all this time and kidnapping his family was the best he could come up with. Honestly, look at how long he let Luigi run around in every Mansion instead of just swarming him!
(Now I want a fic where KB just goes "you know what, screw it, I've waited long enough ,ALL ON HIM!!" ...how angsty or humorous it gets is up to you ;p)
I had a joke at some point (and now it fits with the ghost seducer AU) that all that money Luigi finds is KB paying Luigi for cleaning up, or sugar daddy-ing him up and trying to get him to stay.
KB : *throws gold ingots and diamonds at Luigi* TAKE MY MONEY, WHORE!!
And oh, the naughty, naughty things King Boo could do with this tongue...

ok lemme talk about this idiot for a second
Tumblr media
first off i want to reiterate that my King Boo is NOT an actual boo - boos are living creatures with ghostlike properties, King Boo is a dead star child who chooses to spend most of his time looking like a boo because he thinks they're neat. so he's also not a king, he's like a mob boss. but all the boos/ghosts/spirits generally hold him in high regard because he's powerful af so he gets away with the king thing, and sometimes he gets invitations to royal conferences because his schtick is pretty convincing (sometimes he shows up and licks all of the catering and then leaves)
soooo he was a star child basically in the same position Luigi is now, except he died young and told the Star Spirits "i do what i want" when they tried to fix the hole. that was 1,000 years ago. his death is what prompted the Shadow Queen to start shit.
anyway!! aside from shapeshifting shenanigans... he can't do boo things, like go into an object and make it disappear. he CAN put other souls inside of things. like paintings. but he can't separate a soul from its living body.
gems are less of an 'amplifier' for him than a method of control. his soul is insanely powerful, so channeling magic through them helps him not indiscriminately blow stuff up. when he's in boo form, he has LESS control because, you know, less fingers. only the bigass crown. however, in boo form he also has less POWER because he has the ability to anchor his soul, keeping it in a set position. i've shown this pic before but:
Tumblr media
his 'kingdom' is the area covered by his soul and it's HUGE. the fog you see in Evershade? that's him. he can shift things around at long distances, and knows immediately when someone enters the sphere. when his soul is anchored like this, he can't leave it, but he can pick it back up again if he needs to. maybe to go go-karting with no legs again. storms tend to roll through Evershade and adjoining Forever Forest when he's in a foul mood due to his effect on the atmosphere.
since he's a ghost, he of course can phase through physical objects. this makes fighting him really hard; Mario can't do anything to him, which is why he keeps getting his ass thrown in paintings. however, KB cannot phase through anyone with soul magic, so people like Luigi and Peach can touch him and there's nothing he can do about it. the only person he's really threatened by is Luigi, but Luigi is at a constant disadvantage by still being mortal - that's why KB wants to capture him instead of kill him. :3

Man, I'm really not at my best, giving my all, when I'm squeezed hot and wet among so many people. Not to mention fighting so that people who had higher numbers don't reach the front, like the official message strictly prohibits.
Regardless, the show was very intense.
The backdrop was a huge, epic tapestry of the Phalaris head with flames. The entire show consisted of lights, there was no screen this time.
A tech came with a basket and distributed Thermos bottles, water bottles with and without straws, as well as towels for each member's spot. At Kyo's, he left something like eight bottles of water, only two had straws, so you could guess that something was going to happen with the rest.
The members started coming in and the theme tonight seemed to be more white: Shinya was as usual, Toshiya's veil and upper draping were white this time, Die I think had some white too, Kaoru wore a black+white suit with different patterns for the top and bottom and either a tie or a dress shirt underneath whose lining made an 8 shape kind of. Kyo was in contrast, wearing a black G.I.S.M. shirt with a kind of white shinigami creature on it, and black pants with large pockets and a long belt.
The show went on basically like usual. Toshiya had so much drama in his moves, the way he poses with his hand hiding his face. He also blew away his white veil exaggeratedly as he turned around after the first song, but that veil quickly left his head. Yet, he may as well have still been wearing it, because his hair made a puffy curtain over his face. Everyone on site got so hot so quickly. Toshiya's abs got shown very early on. An hour more of those and I will have them memorized.
Schadenfreude is definitely basked in red and purple light. This time, the whole crowd shouted every: "Ikedomo jigoku ka", which didn't seem to delight or faze Kyo either way.
At the end of Utsutsu, Bouga o Kurau, it was obvious what Kyo wanted us to sing, but people started the "nananananana" way too early. Kyo's face went dead, clearly disappointed. We weren't a lot who were well-timed.
In the following song though, everybody redeemed themselves. We sang each backup vocal and Kyo had us sing the entire last paragraph. He seemed to say: "Yeah, this is your moment."
13 gets more and more intense, I feel. And the way Kyo walks so slowly onto his crate using the side step for the final chorus, as though contemplating the finality of it. Ugh.
The next two songs, Uroko and Eddie, feel like a blur. When the first notes of both Eddie amd T.D.F.F. start playing, it really sets off Kyo and he moves around a lot.
Kyo was even less coordinated when it came to the clapping part in GRIEF today. Well, mocking our clapping part that he had initiated himself years ago. And the growls were all raw throughout this song.
It felt so odd to witness Toshiya's backup vocals during Gaika chinmoku after working on that compilation, but it was great! Kyo repeated and repeated the ending lyrics way after the music ended, deploying everything his throat had to offer.
Otogi came and the stage was again bathed in red. Kaoru's guitar white noise seemed shorter than before. Toshiya traced from the top of his head to the ground in general at the beginning, and even Kyo was less sensual than in Yokosuka. Anyhow, not many fans seemed to be into Otogi, from what I could see. By the way, Kyo does not sing the high-pitched "Tadaakada"s; recordings are played instead.
For the last song of the main setlist, Kyo mumbled and growled stuff with his mic on the stand, long enough that I thought he wouldn't catch enough breath to growl "Nose, Eyes, Ears" but hot damn he did and the crowd went crazy for the entire song.
The members then left swiftly, some raising their hands on their way out. We called for encore immediately. After what seemed like forever, they came back. Shinya wore black pants and a black shirt; Die was dressed similarly but his shirt was more like a black, plunging V-neck tank top; Toshiya kept his black shorts and lacey skirt but put on a white sleeveless button shirt that he has definitely worn in the past; Kaoru had a classic black dress shirt, I think? Kyo just changed to the same Japanese heavy metal shirt that he had for the encore at Yokosuka.
Jealous started playing and everyone knew we were getting something special. The band played it without much passion or interaction though. In fact, Kyo sang essentially like the studio recording, face blank. The second song, maybe even more special, Sangeki no yoru, had a bit more passion, based on the fact that he added some screaming to some of the last lines, but that's it. Oh but most of the members (Die and Toshiya, as well as Kaoru I think?) were mouthing the lyrics to one of the songs during the encore. Not sure which.
The rest of the encore is where the band picked up the beat and intensity. I can't remember exactly when, but I feel like we also had to sing a lot in Utafumi and Sustain the Untruth, as well as all the "fucker"s and Ms in T.D.F.F. The crowd just kept moving in inorderly waves, especially when the members came up close on stage.
Kyo clapped and mouthed "bye bye", then left appearing satisfied. Toshiya sprayed us with water and the four remaining members threw their stuff. I don't think they drenched their towels to send them that far? Just tied them in a knot. Toshiya was all smiles, at the end and throughout most of the show. I remember how he just kicked that left leg onto Kyo's crate during one of the encore's songs, like it was nothing.
They left and the ending instrumental played three, four times, with the pre-recorded message that the show is finished being repeated at least twice too. Staff tried to ask us to leave, but we continuee to shout a chaotic mess of "encore" and "Dir en grey". Finally, Dir en grey returned! Kyo (who had removed the black, horizontal makeup he had during the ahow) said something about the crowd being loud enough for the encore, so they came back, but wondering if it had been loud during the main setlist. That's probably echoed in his recent Twitter post about him wanting tomorrow to be a continuation from that last point of intensity.
Un deux was played and at that point I barely had two feet on the ground, we were moved left and right. All I could see was Kyo and he was smiling a lot. I think he took off his earpieces entirely, had us sing and was glad we kept doing so even as he went on with his job eventually. Then, I think that the four other members left really quickly, because it was soon just Kyo having fun baptizing people in the front row with the many bottles of water that he had in the back. He was grinning so much, until he reached the right side of the stage and then looked dead serious on drenching the person to the last bit. He'd throw the bottle cap vigorously into the crowd, empty the bottle and then either gently hand it to a fan or throw it careless away in the crowd. He left looking happy!
We then finally turned around to leave, and I think that because we saw that cameras in the back had been filming us, we started clapping at some point, just to reiterate our joy.
Besides the two old songs played at the beginning of the encore and the double encore with un deux, it felt essentially like any normal show. Kyo even kept calling out for us as "Kyoto", while I expected him to say: "knot" or "a knot". Also, even the a knot 25th anniversary does not get Kamuy? What will it take?
Last note: Kyo was definitely filmed and there were cameras in the back too. Not sure about the rest, but it sounds like this could go out onto a DVD?

Oh I would love to hear more about The Creature.
Demon, hear ye, you have my warmest regards.
“The Creature” is, obviously, from an alternative dimension. It was the designated Eclipse in its dimension, and had an upbringing that played more to the tune of canon Eclipse than my own KB rendition. It sees itself in KB Eclipse in a lot of ways, but knows that, morally, they are drastically different.
In its dimension, it had just managed to start making amends with the others when things started…going wrong. Lunar went missing first. His body turned up only days later, torn to shreds without a single trace of his attacker. It was like the air itself had stolen him away and ripped him apart. It began as a mystery- no one knew what could’ve done that to Lunar. Some didn’t WANT to know.
But, when Sun’s turn came…it was no mystery what happened to him. A rugged endoskeleton, distorted and horrifically twisted into less of a robot and more of a monster. Huge teeth, large, razor sharp claws, and empty eyes. Sun was gone before anyone even had the chance to scream. As time went on, more and more of these things turned up.
The last to go was Blood Moon. “The Creature” tried to save them, just as it had done for Moon only weeks before. It tried to pry them free of those jaws, even as it paid heavy prices in what would later turn into irreversible scars.
But nothing compared to the sound of those teeth clamping down on Blood Moon, their screams fading off into the distance as all attempts to follow are proved futile in the face of yet more beasts.
Claiming that “The Creature” went mad would be an understatement. The last safe room it claimed as its own looks more like a cell than a safe haven, littered with claw marks and splattered with oil. Eclipse no longer felt like a name, but a title, the weight of saving his dimension too much to bear on his own.
He abandoned his name. Abandoned his identity and sense of self. Took up the name “Ex,” instead. Crossing out who he once was, afraid his former name would bring back all those awful memories he tries so hard to hide from.
Then this group shows up, wearing the faces of the bodies he remembers burying a long, long time ago. Curious.
Even more so when he sees his own.
He feels safest around Eclipse, since all the others appear as corpses in his mind. So many bodies. Bodies of those he loved.
That’s why he has to get these newcomers home before they become bodies, too.
Or, even worse, before he starts to love them.
“The Creature” is a name given to him by Eclipse and the others, as he doesn’t talk much and hasn’t said his name as of yet. So they just…call him “The Creature.”

Pale Blood (revised) - Odea is...anxious
Managing to move from the bathroom to the living room, Odea had yet to make the call she intended to—she tried, roughly five times, but kept hanging up when it started to ring.
Instead she sat on the arm of her couch, staring at the faux-wood flooring, as her cats watched her from the corner—from a tiered tree covered in more toys than either needed.
“This is stupid,” she told her socks, “I’m being stupid. It’s just Fran, I can talk to Fran.” But her panic disagreed, reminding her of when she met the other witch, of the state she was in—a ragged mess of blood and tears—and how kind and calm and wonderful the Child of Night had been to her—how delightful her scent, earthy, floral, Wyld—and Odea groaned, falling back onto the couch, “She’s going to think I’m a failure!”
Kiki yawned, the soft ‘merp’ that followed it reflected deeper by KB, and Odea looked at her cats, “She wouldn’t think that, would she?”
They snuggled tighter into their beds, uninterested in silly human problems.
“No, no she wouldn’t think that, she’s been making it too long,” Odea told the ceiling, “She’ll just smile that little smile of hers, raise one of her perfect white eyebrows ever so slightly and say, ‘why, my dear, why did you not come to me sooner?’” Sighing, Odea tapped her netlink—again—and, before it rang, she added, to the cats, “And I’ll still feel stupid.”
After three rings, a gentle, throaty voice answered, its tone void of inflection, “Odea?”
“Afternoon, Fran,” Odea said, swallowing the flutter threatening to scream.
“Oh, my dear,” Fran managed to purr, despite no shift in tone, “what a delight to hear from you. Is this a social call or, give me a moment,” Her tone shifted then—perceptible only to Odea—as she spoke to another, “Tru, honey, no. No, those are not aphrodisiacs. No, they are decidedly not. I know because I grew them. Take them out of your mouth. Mother Night, you impossible creature.” Sweetly, her tone returned to Odea, “I am terribly sorry dear, can we postpone this call? I have an oversized gremlin masquerading as a Daughter to manage. It will be ten, twenty minutes at the most.”
“Not a problem, Fran. I can wait,” Odea said through a smile, fighting giggles as the line rattled with what she imagined were toppled shelves and thrown bottles—there was a life-size skeleton in there as well, but otherwise she was correct.
“A treasure, dear, you are a treasure,” Fran said, raising her voice ever so slightly, “Truella Fel Myra if you do not climb down from there I am banning you from my shop.” Laughter too high and chaotic to be Fran’s jittered through the link before it snapped away.

Hey do you have any tips for drawing Rabbids?
I’ve been wanting to draw a lot of Kingdom Battle’s enemies but I’ve found difficultly in drawing the basic Rabbid to begin with.
Could you give some advice?
I'm honored to be asked! I don't do a lot of art tutorials or anything AND my sketches are the messiest in the world, but I will try my best!
So like most things I draw, I start with the head and the eyes, and then a rough body shape with stick-limbs to plan the pose. Rabbids are very peanut shaped so I just kinda do two circles. This goes for the majority of them, with various size disparities between the head and the body. Of course some of them have weirder body shapes (Orion your body is absurd) but we're just talking about a fairly basic one right now. For a basic one I tend to make the head and body about the same size or maybe the head even slightly bigger because it's cute!
Tumblr media
Ok right now he just looks like a weird little alien, or one of those creatures from Earthbound who were really shy, or Mr. Peanut lol but ANYWAY this is how I plan things. Ok, from there...
Tumblr media
The legs are easy, you just kinda draw... that little cylinder shape, I normally have it kinda "flare out" toward the foot because it has better weight that way. If it helps you can mark out an oval as part of your sketch, marking where their foot touches the ground, like I did as an example on the right. For their hands, some people like to draw them with more detailed paws but I love their canonical mitten hands and that'll be easiest too. Just put a mitten on the end of that stick, like a snowman! And then fill out the rest of the arm to attach to the body.
So normally this would just be my ultra rough sketch and I'd start the lineart layer on top of it, but for our purposes here I'll just clean up the sketch (and decide I don't want him to be winking)...
Tumblr media
I find that their... mouth skin doesn't really look good in 2D, and even official 2D art usually has it left out (sometimes I put it in while coloring, but if you're just doing lineart it's hard to not just make it look like weird lips). But you can add the tummy skin and the paw pads :3
Now the ultimate galaxy brain strat is to make them a little furry, or add other details. A bit of fluff helps round them out a bit. I also like to add the suggestion of a snout sometimes.
Tumblr media
I hope this helps somewhat!! Honestly I started out REALLY struggling with how to draw them myself when KB came out, and nothing has helped me out so much as just looking at concept art or the in-game illustrations. I feel like rabbids look a little different in 2D versus 3D and trying to translate them from 3D onto the paper isn't nearly as effective as simply taking inspiration from the existing 2D illustrations. @randomrabbidramblings linked me to the instagram of one of the concept artists recently, I think this is a great place to start!

Which is my favorite Kdrama network?
When I'm bored I like to list and categorize things. Today I've decided to discover, statistically, which Korean drama network is my favorite based on shows I've watched.
Including both shows I've completed and shows I've dropped bc in this case, the shows I don't like are relevant.
Using my ratings from MyDramaList :) which means however I felt the first time I finished watching a show, basically. Not including networks where I've only watched one show (e.g., Disney+, Wavve, Channel A).
JTBC:
Agency--Dropped
Beyond Evil--6
Itaewon Class--Dropped
My Country the New Age--10
Private Lives--Dropped
Reflection of You--Dropped
Sisyphus: The Myth--Dropped
I can't believe this network produced My Country the New Age when everything else I've watched by them has been a flop for me. Beyond Evil came the closest to breaking the curse but even then. Itaewon Class is one of my least favorite shows I've ever tried to watch; I've forgotten most of the details now but a bad taste lingers.
KBS:
White Christmas--10
Mad Dog--8
The King's Affection--10
River Where the Moon Rises--Dropped
Should I have given River Where the Moon Rises more of a chance? Bc apparently this network only makes bangers.
MBC:
Extraordinary You--7
Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung--9
The Veil--7
Idk what to say about this one. RHGH is pretty damn good but I think I would probs like it less watching it now than I did in 2019, newish to kdramas and ready to love anything. But it's a fave regardless, and Extraordinary You and The Veil are both fairly watchable. A serviceable network.
MBN:
Perfect Marriage Revenge--Dropped
Sponsor--Dropped
A network to watch a few episodes with the desire to see dogblood plots, and then leave.
Netflix:
Bloodhounds--8
My Holo Love--Dropped
Gyeongseong Creature--Dropped
Song of Bandits--8
The Silent Sea--7
It's Netflix. I don't know that they're ever going to make a real favorite for me but they're fairly competent.
OCN:
Save Me--8
Duel--Dropped
A Superior Day--Dropped
Apparently it takes Seo Ye-ji and Woo Do-hwan's powers combined to make me finish a show by this network. You'd think it would be easier bc they seem to enjoy angst and whump, but I think they pour it on a little too thick.
SBS:
Doctor Stranger--Dropped
Lovers of the Red Sky--8
Revenant--9
The King: Eternal Monarch--7
The Killing Vote--Dropped
Remember: War of the Son--Dropped
Honestly I might come back to at least one of these dropped shows. Their track record on plots is okay, but their actors are really good.
TVN:
100 Days My Prince--Dropped
Alchemy of Souls--9
Bad and Crazy--Dropped
Circle: Two Worlds Connected--9
Confession--6
Devil Judge--9
Eve--8
Flower of Evil--10
Hotel del Luna--Dropped
It's Okay to Not Be Okay--8
Mine--8
Mr. Sunshine--8
Our Blooming Youth--Dropped
Pandora: Beneath the Paradise--Dropped
Psychopath Diary--9
Tale of the Nine-Tailed--Dropped
Clearly I just start the most show by them. Do they make the most shows? I don't know. Good concepts and good cinematic quality on most of these shows, with just a few exceptions. Pretty solid network.
Viki:
Color Rush--8
I Picked Up a Star On the Road--6
Where Your Eyes Linger--8
You Make Me Dance--6
Mixed bag.
The takeaways:
I should probably watch more KBS. On my to-watch list, that translates to Youth of May, the Bridal Mask, Hwarang, the Bloody Heart, and Orange Marmalade. So mostly historical dramas, which is a pity bc apparently I also like their thrillers.
Really, though, my to-watch list at this point has a ton of SBS and MBC on it for some reason, at least with shows that have already come out. According to my stats so far, my odds are pretty mixed on liking them or not.
Somehow, one feels, I will actually end up watching more TVN instead... but that has yet to materialize. (except the one kdrama I'm currently watching is a TVN drama. so.)
Did I really learn anything? No. and on that note, good night.
