Hi, i love your stuff! Your writing is AMAZING!
Could you do a sokkaxreader fic, where reader gets majorly hurt saving sokkas life-and she almost dies and super angst but turns sweet/fluff?
-✨anon
a/n: ugh i love angst!!! tysm for requesting this <3
warnings: mentions of blood, injury,
summary: a fight gone wrong leads to an important revelation for you and Sokka
Tumblr media
It all had happened so fast.
One minute your group is enjoying a nice breakfast together and the next you’re fighting off Azula and her minions. They’d ambushed you, catching you in a vulnerable position and striking the moment you least expected them to. You had the advantage of numbers against them, but these girls were immensely skilled, so you didn’t have enough of an edge to completely defend yourselves against their attack.
You were assisting Katara in trying to take down Azula when you happened to catch a glance of Sokka from across the way. His back was turned to you and his focus was set on trying to dodge Ty Lee’s chi blocks, so he wasn’t able to detect the blades that were being aimed in his direction. Your eyes widened with panic as you quickly make your way towards him; you wouldn’t be fast enough to stop Mai from throwing the knives, but you’d at least be fast enough to get in their path and stop them from hitting your friend.
“Sokka, move!” You urged, shoving him out of the way and effectively knocking over Ty Lee in the process as well. You weren’t given the time to process anything else as you immediately felt the blades make contact with your skin, digging themselves deep into your back. You cried out in agony before immediately collapsing to the ground, all while Sokka watched on in horror.
“Y/n!” He screamed before scrambling to your side. The fabric of your top was beginning to turn a deep red, and you could already begin to feel the effects of blood loss take over. Your vision was hazy and your body felt cold, and yet you were still able to make out the features of his face as he stared down at you with tears in his eyes.
“Just hang on, I’m going to get you out of here!” He insisted, some of his tears landing on your face. You couldn’t find the strength to muster up a response, so instead you simply let your eyes close and allowed the cold to consume you whole.
When you regain consciousness again you find yourself in a tent. Everything hurts and your body feels like it’s on fire, and yet you can’t find the strength to move. Blurry faces hover over you and muffled voices fill your ears, but no matter how hard you try you can’t make sense of any of your surroundings.
“-more water. I need more water!”
“Why isn’t it working?!”
A sharp pulse jolts up your spine and this time you do cry out in pain, effectively startling the figures in the tent.
“Y/n!” A voice cries. Sokka’s voice.
He’s beside you in an instant, kneeling before you and taking your hand tightly in his own. You’ve never seen him like this, so distraught and terrified. You wonder what happened when you passed out.
“Try to stay awake, okay? Please stay awake,” he begs you before looking frantically to his sister. “She doesn’t look any better!”
“Sokka, I’m doing everything I can here!” His sister shouts back, equally distressed as she exerts all of her energy into healing you. Progress is there but it’s slow, and she worries that if she isn’t fast enough the damage may be permanent. Why did the blades have to hit your spine so perfectly?
“Sokka…” you murmur quietly, your eyes beginning to feel heavy yet again.
“No, no, no, y/n, look at me! Don’t go back to sleep!”
But his pleas fall on deaf ears, and you’re swept back under.
You’re not sure how much time has passed since you were last conscious, but the lamp beside you must mean that it’s grown dark outside. You feel warm, the sharp pain is gone, and all that is left behind is a sense of exhaustion from your adrenaline inducing day. You try to sit up only to immediately collapse due to the soreness of your back, but at least you’re able to move now.
“Hey, it’s okay, don’t move,” Sokka insists, alerting you of his presence beside you. You feel his palm carefully lift the back of your head towards the bowl of water he holds in his other hand, allowing you to take greedy gulps until you’re satisfied. “Katara says you shouldn’t try to get up yet or you’ll strain yourself. Your body is still adjusting.”
“What happened? How long have I been asleep?” You ask groggily.
“About twelve hours,” he replies sullenly, and it isn’t until this moment that you’re able to detect the exhaustion present on his features. “Those blades dug right through your skin and into your spine. Katara spent hours healing you; for a minute we thought you might not make it or that maybe you’d live but be paralyzed for the rest of your life. Why did you do it?”
“What?”
“Why did you do it?” Sokka says more firmly this time. “How could you do something so stupid like that?! You could’ve died!”
“It’s not stupid to risk my life for someone I love,” you correct him with a faint smile. Your admission takes him by surprise, his face immediately growing hot and his mind actually at a loss for words for once.
“You… you love me?” He asks gently, almost as if he doesn’t believe you.
“I thought it was obvious, dummy.”
“Not to me!” He cries defensively. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I don’t know,” you admit with a small shrug. “I guess there’s never really been a good time; there’s always another fight to win or people to save. It just didn’t feel right.”
“I guess you’re right,” he murmurs faintly. “But I’m glad you told me now, and I’m glad you’re alive. Because I can’t stand to lose another person that I love.”
You smile tiredly at his words, a new sense of understanding now being shared between you both. You love each other, and neither of you can stand to lose the other. This is real now, and you’re in it for the long haul.
He presses a kiss to your forehead then and urges you to get some more rest, and so you do. And Sokka stays planted right beside you to keep watch over you in your vulnerable state. In that moment he swears he’ll never let anything like this happen to you again.
And that’s a promise he intends to keep for a lifetime.

No, but think about putting SaShiSu in an Avatar: The Last Airbender AU... 🥴
Waterbender!Gojo, Waterbender Healer!Ieiri and Firebender!Geto Imagines😭 Hear me out!
Tumblr media
They go on adventures together, get in trouble together.
Plus, if SatoSugu friendship blossoms into romance, it's so Romeo and Juliet-coded ✨💖
I like the idea of the three of them being childhood best friends.
Imagine this takes place during peace time, and there's no war (YET), and it's just the four nations being normal.
So Satoru, Shoko, and Suguru definitely met as children during an official visit to each other's country or something.
Suguru Geto is Fire Nation nobility who knows a thing or two about manipulating body heat and more...
🔥 Listen... It's the bun istg... Because why does his hairstyle remind me of Ozai, lowkey?
🔥 He's a talented firebender, martial artist, and adept scholar.
🔥 His mom and dad are political figures and I imagine his mom is a lady-in-waiting to the Fire Lord's wife, while Suguru's father actually sits in the Fire Lord's council. The man is an admiral in the Fire Lord's navy.
🔥 Suguru would be a nerd about Wan Shi Tong's library. 🦉
🔥 Suguru would be good at war strategy. It comes from his obsession with Pai Sho.
🔥 You know, his uncle may or may not rope him into joining the Order of the White Lotus at some point in his life.
🔥 Suguru in RED Fire Nation armor~ 🥹🥴🤤
🔥 Also, if I was skilled in photoshop, I will not be above photoshopping Suguru's head on top of Ozai's body. As in, I just need that image of Suguru Geto as a Fire Lord. 😩
Shoko Ieiri is a talented and renowned waterbender for her healing prowess and knowledge in human anatomy.
💧 She is from the Northern Water Tribe, like Gojo, and was raised alongside Satoru, so they're basically siblings.
💧 Her knowledge of human anatomy is unmatched. As in, yes, there are skilled waterbending healers, but Shoko is iconic because she goes beyond practicing healing on human mannequins. Our girl does autopsies and often ponders how the human body works. She's a legit doctor, okay?
💧 She practiced healing on Satoru a lot while they were growing up too, because Satoru acquired plenty of scrapes and bruises and dislocated bones through the years. He was a rambunctious child who had way too much power in his menace-causing hands. (more on Satoru later).
💧 What Satoru lacks in healing prowess, Shoko makes up for in buckets and buckets.
💧 Shoko is a decent waterbender in combat, but she would really rather her two friends do most of the fighting.
💧 Not like Satoru or Suguru would let her on the field that much anyway. She's too valuable to risk. Shoko knows it and plays that up to her advantage A LOT.
💧 Aside from escaping the arranged marriage her parents set up for her, Shoko eagerly ran away from home with Satoru at 18 in pursuit of scholars who eagerly studied human anatomy like her.
💧 Shoko is interested in how the other nations tend to their wounded and sick when they can't find a waterbending healer.
Satoru Gojo is blessed by the spirit of the moon and the ocean.
🌊🌕 He is literally Yue 2.0, but better! Still the Honored One in any universe. 😍 The white hair and blue eyes... Need I say more?
🌊🌕 Okay, so... I'm thinking... Satoru Gojo in ATLA universe is just like his JJK counterpart. He was highly favored by the spirits from the moment he was born.
🌊🌕 His parents look like typical Northern Water Tribe people. Dark-haired. Satoru is the only one in the family who is pale and white-haired.
🌊🌕 He's a Prince, of course... Prince Satoru of the Northern Water Tribe sounds hell'a good.
🌊🌕 He grew up sheltered, he's a waterbending prodigy, and he's still a menace.
🌊🌕 Gojo is also definitely a blood-bender, but I like to think he learns that skillset later on in their adventures or something (kind'a like how Katara learned it, but with less guilt). Also, Choso definitely taught him right?
🌊🌕 Satoru does not know how to heal other people. It's one of his greatest flaws. He can heal himself just fine, but using water to seek out illness and heal it for other people? Yeah... He sucks at that... (Not different from JJK in other words, where Gojo can't output Reverse Cursed Technique to heal other people. He only knows how to use RCT on himself).
Their Adventure Backstory...
➼ At 18, Satoru starts to get antsy about seeing the world and whatnot. He's sick of the family politics and the arranged marriages about to be shoved down his throat.
➼ Shoko is in the same boat. If the arranged marriages are suffocating for a prince, it's even worse for a talented young woman of noble birth.
➼ Shoko's situation is what pushes Satoru to say "Fuck it!" and run away from home.
➼ So against their parents' wishes, these 2 reckless teenagers devise a plan to run away for a much needed world tour. Satoru's reasoning is that they won't be gone forever... He and Shoko will come back eventually.
➼ First destination in mind: the Fire Nation... to see Suguru and rope him into their grand plans, of course!
➼ Satoru and Shoko steal a ship from the Water Tribe fleet and go on their merry way. (I like to think they got there fast because Satoru was manipulating the water underneath the ship to propel them faster to where they need to go).
➼ By the time they reach the Fire Nation, word has already spread of the Northern Water Tribe's runaway Prince.
➼ Shoko thinks Satoru is being stupid, but hey, according to Satoru, "What can my parents do about it at this point?"
➼ Sure, Satoru is a highly valued individual that could fetch a high price if kidnapped by pirates (he's a Prince, after all), but he's also an insanely powerful waterbender and combatant. I'm sure he'd say something like, "I don't need my bending to win."
➼ Satoru and Shoko make it to the Fire Nation unscathed, meet up with Suguru, and convince him to come along on a grand adventure.
➼ They switch out the Water Tribe ship for something a little more discreet from Suguru's own father's fleet. (Side-eye the kiddies using their parents' resources carelessly to do whatever they want. 😆 They're nepo-babies... all 3 of them.)
➼ I like to think Suguru's parents don't mind though. His mom, in particular, thinks it's a good idea for Suguru to go out and see the world and shit.
➼ Where are they going? Satoru didn't actually know.
➼ Suguru suggests a visit to the legendary knowledge spirit's library, since he's a nerd about that, but also, Shoko wants to see if she can find anything that indulges her curiosity. So that's where they're headed first.
➼ It would be a cute idea for a coming-of-age story... where SaShiSu grow up through the experiences they've had and they realize they have responsibilities to attend to or something.
➼ Because as much as they would want to, there's no such thing as traveling the world as nomads forever. Satoru is a Prince, and Shoko and Suguru are of noble birth. They have stuff to do...
➼ OR... OR... OR.... They're 3 stupid teenagers who ran away from home right on the brink of a war happening. Like, they had no idea conflict was rising, so shit hits the fan and Suguru just receives word from his father via messenger hawk, telling him to come home because there is a war.
It's embarrassing how I'm thinking about their combat prowess + the trouble the three of them get into too...
➼ Gojo and Geto enhance each other's combat. They're so in sync.
➼ Of course, they started out pretty rough... Water vs Fire and all that.. But as they train together more and inevitably encounter situations where they had to fight their way out, they learn to work together and be so in sync.
➼ Watching them fight each other, or fight alongside one another is a treat. It's like a dance -- a perfectly choreographed movement of legs and limbs.
➼ Suguru's fire can burn hot enough to evaporate water. It burns hot enough to destroy tightly packed walls of stone. He is not a stranger to carrying out executions on the most heinous criminals in the Boiling Rock, so yes, Suguru has burned a man alive and/or electrocuted a criminal in prison in the name of justice.
➼ Satoru is the perfect support to Suguru when Suguru launches a lightning attack.
➼ At some point in their adventures, Suguru pointed out how Satoru could try sucking moisture out of plants or draw water from the air and Satoru figures it out.
➼ I like to think Shoko put the idea of bloodbending in Satoru's head. It was a hypothetical thought that led to Satoru actually trying to figure it out and eventually running into someone who does that.
➼ It all started with Shoko randomly saying, "Hey, did you know that water takes up 3/4 of the human body?" as they sat around their campfire one night.
➼ Also... something something shenanigans happen where Satoru keeps waterbending boiling water out of a pot to fling at something -- the little shit that he is.
➼ After they left the Northern Water Tribe, Satoru has become Shoko's impromptu combat waterbending teacher.
➼ Shoko always complains about it during training days because Satoru HAS NO CHILL. He's also banking on the fact that Shoko can heal herself, so he finds little use in holding back.
➼ Shoko and Satoru have definitely pulled water-based pranks on Suguru multiple times. This is gross, but.... piss-bending. Satoru did it once as a prank. 🤢🤮
➼ On a brighter note, Satoru definitely makes silly water sculptures/giant puppets in the middle of the ocean for his and his companions' begrudging entertainment. Suguru and Shoko roll their eyes at it, but honestly, it's kinda cute when a water serpent or a water squid rises out of the sea to greet their ship once in a while. Yeah, it scares the shit out of ocean wildlife and maybe nearby ships and such, but at least Satoru is having fun. 🥴😁 (the unhinged wittle baby)
➼ Shoko thinks the Moon and the Ocean Spirits regret blessing the Prince when he was born. Suguru agrees...
➼ But hey, they make each other proud in their own ways.
➼ Shoko once stalled their trip and stayed in a remote fishing town for a week to heal the sick, and Satoru and Suguru were there as her assistants. (Satoru was complaining about the poor amenities and Suguru had to remind him all over again that though he was raised in a noble household, it was his duty to protect and care for those who cannot do that for themselves).
➼ Satoru once helped mediate a political issue that was severely affecting several neighboring towns in the Earth Kingdom.
➼ Suguru cracked a criminal case that was unsolved for months in a town in the Fire Nation, and was personally responsible for delivering the serial killer to the Boiling Rock. (Satoru saw the boiling lake and definitely played around with it, much to the chagrin of Suguru and Suguru's uncle).
Side note for my peeps who are familiar with ATLA lore:
Tumblr media
You know how they say no prisoner has ever escaped the Boiling Rock? Suguru told Satoru and Shoko about that, and Satoru definitely bets that he could do it.
Prince Satoru argues it's only because, "None of you waterbend."
They're visitors to the high security prison, but it doesn't stop Satoru from doing dumb stuff, like sneaking out without alerting the guards.
To prove his point, Satoru did what Sokka and Zuko did to escape the Boiling Rock: Use a cooler as a boat.
So in the dead of night, Suguru, Satoru, and Shoko do it, and Satoru successfully ferries the three of them across the Boiling Lake.
Afterwards, Suguru's like, "You've proven your point, Satoru. Let's head back."
Satoru is laughing and flashing his friends that cheesy, cocky grin he's known for and brags, "'No one escapes the Boiling Rock, highest security Fire Nation prison' my ass. All you needed was a waterbender!"
Shoko rolls her eyes at her friend's antics and speaks to him in a matter-of-fact voice, "Sure, but it wouldn't make sense for waterbenders to be kept here anyways or to be stuffed in coolers as punishments. It's meant to hold a firebender, not for people from the Water Tribe... and especially not for you."
Suguru is smirking at them both, "Theoretically speaking, precautions would be in place to prevent you from bending water. So that means pumping dry air and probably suspending your hands and feet before you're given anything to drink."
Shoko was nodding. "It'll take more than getting stuffed in a cooler for you to escape actually, so this little plot proves nothing, Satoru."
They got caught regardless because they lingered on the edge of the Boiling Lake on the opposite end of the island for far too long, and a watchman saw them and alerted Suguru's uncle.
Needless to say, SaShiSu were thoroughly scolded when they made it back to the prison.
Satoru's paying for damages to one of the dismantled coolers that were used as boats.
➼ I seriously need to stop, but yo...
Somebody please write a JJK X ATLA AU for real... 🙏

millon question asking anon here ✨ (anon version of zuko here) do jiro and lu ten get back together after he's rescued from the dai li? Does lu ten ever regain some of his personality and memories of his family back after everything?
YES HE DOES!!!🔥💯💯 some things are pretty blurry to him and or he might not ever remember on his own unless someone literally tells him though. so mostly intact just kinda spotty. kataras super awesome brain healing on top of just talking out memories face to face with iroh zuko and azula does the trick- even through the years of periodic brainwashing and chi blocking, lu ten being let out into the sun for missions kept his inner flame alive. and its really just because of that. if long feng kept lu ten out of the sun at all times for all six years he wouldve totally forgotten himself. i personally hc that a benders connection with their element is really THAT crucial. And yes him and jiro have a gay reunion i cant have an au like this without a gay reunion its integral to my health

ATLA is practically a foundational text on contemporary depictions of found families and romantic notions of friendship and platonic love (alongside Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life). This may just be my contrarian side resisting the abundance of ‘web weaving’ and quote collections and even the pop-therapy recommendations about the importance of ✨friendship✨, but I think atla also makes room for ideas that are less obsessed and dependent on finding your person or your people. In fact, I think the series depicts loneliness, alienation, and solitude as essential features to a healthy understanding of life.
The entire gaang emerges into the series in a state of loss—lost freedom, lost parents, lost inheritance, lost civilizations. The absent things give their lives shape, and imagining the recuperation of what they’ve lost, rather than inspiring hope, is what inspires some of their darkest moments. Aang hurls sparks toward Katara when he demands a reason for the monks decision to ship him away from Gyatso (which subsequently led to his fateful fleeing from the temple); Katara is forced to bloodbend when she finally finds a southern water bender like her mother to teach her; and Zuko spends the first two and a half seasons in aggression and self-hatred as he pursues the family and nation that he’s been denied. Painful expressions of grief like these occur when the characters seek out alternative propositions to feelings of emptiness, feelings of emptiness that have been left for them by failed expectations and fragile impermanent lives. The show encourages us to fear those who grasp for straws of what was to defend against their own loneliness.
Despite the trope of a found friend group as a protective resource of “healing” which pervades fanart and fanfics for atla, the show presents few instances where actual wisdom is found within the peace of friendship or family. Found families seem to be stabilizing but not inspiring. Run-ins with acquaintances (think: Iroh’s encounters with Aang or Toph, or Aang and Zuko in the Blue Spirit episode) are more likely to be catalysts for transformation, and arguments--not acceptance--between contentious factions within the friend group provide the fertile soil for growth. In both of these kinds of instances, the show puts in an effort to depict individuals seeking out time away from the group to be by themselves: the key ingredient for metamorphosis, whether that solitude allows for a character to hear people’s perspectives from safer distances (Katara swimming underneath the rock while Toph and Sokaa talk in The Runaway), for the full pain and grief to set in (Aang in The Awakening), or for a character to experience a unique encounter with an acquaintance (the aforementioned chat between Toph and Iroh in The Runaway).
In fact, whole episodes are devoted to characters going it alone. Aang’s disappearance from the world entirely in the four-part finale in an attempt to find the insight he needs to face the Firelord is the most thematically relevant example from the series and Zuko Alone is probably the most acclaimed. Within the philosophy of the show and its contemplative and Eastern inspirations, being on your own is something to be made fruitful because its our existential state of being. Its the site where you can accept the constant change that’s going on all around and within you, so that you can nurture the present realities that are being given to you, for the time being, making something enjoyable out of life as it stands. It doesn’t replace or heal the loss of the old beautiful days. It’s another thing that will pass. Then you’ll find yourself alone again, preparing to grieve, and then move on to the next set of fleeting dear things.

The Crossroads of Destiny Re-Watch
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely one of my favorite episodes of the entire series OOOH I love Crossroads of Destiny so FUCKING! MUCH! It's such a good episode.
Alright, so, shocking to no one probably, I've discussed this episode before. I'm linking a post I wrote about Azula & Zuko's dynamic in this episode because I think that it explains a lot of where I'm coming from. HERE ya go.
This is mostly a Zuko episode, honestly. So, let's talk about him. Zuko is READY to fight Azula. Like, no hesitation, dramatics & violence at the ready he is prepared to be on sight. Lucky for him, Azula doesn't really want to fight him. Otherwise, he'd probably be dead. Sorry Zuzu but it's the truth. Iroh demonstrating how he got the nickname the Dragon of the West is pretty iconic. +500 iconic behavior points. Also, +100 to Ty Lee & Sokka for their flirty banter-filled fight. I'm not gonna lie, I'm sort of starting to ship them. The mid-fight flirting is just fun, okay? Although yes, I'm aware that it's a tactic on Ty Lee's part. That doesn't mean she doesn't think he's cute also.
It's hilarious how some things never change & some things stay the same (....I sang-read that in my head...I listen to too much Frozen...anyway) from my initial reactions to this show like 2 years ago lol. I didn't get spoilers per se before watching ATLA but it's such a popular show in the public's consciousness that I did kinda know Zuko would be redeemed, & I just assumed I'd ship Zutara so I read the scene romantically & liked it for that reason.
Tumblr media
[ID: Katara & Zuko in the crystal catacombs. She is crouching far away from him, looking tearful. end id]
I don't read the tension between Zuko & Katara that way anymore, but I see how someone could. Anyway, I wrote THIS post about Katara & why I think she acts the way she does. That said, I'm still annoyed with her for offering to use the spirit water on Zuko though because GIRL I get you but also it is a WAR lmao you don't think you might need the magic healing water? For something more important? Like, Zuko will live, he's not even in physical pain right now!
Watching Azula's devious & brilliant coup unfold is just...SO FUCKING SATISFYING GOD I LOVE AZULA SO FUCKING MUCH SHE'S SO FUCKING COOL!!! AHHH!!!!!! Okay, I'm calm. ish. I just...I just...LOVE HER SO MUCH.
Tumblr media
[ID: Azula saying "Don't flatter yourself. You were never even a player." end id]
SHE'S SO ICONIC!!!!!! AHH!!!! Okay, I'm trying to be reasonable. +3000 iconic behavior points. I had to stop myself from giving her like 20k because like!!!!! HAVE YOU SEEN HER??? I LOVE HER.
Okay. *ahem.* Anyway. Iroh in this episode is super interesting. They lean REAL hard into the "wise old man who says proverbs" thing in this episode. And I think that's sort of the narrative pushing the audience to see Iroh as more of a perfect wise old man than an actual character in his own right, & that kinda gets on my nerves. BUT, looking at Iroh as a complex character, I do think I can get behind the idea that Iroh WAS willing to be complacent in the life he was presented with but NOW....he saw a chance to help the Avatar, & realized he had to take it. He realized that Zuko was going to go back to the home that traumatized him, & he panicked. I've seen a lot of fans criticize Iroh for never telling Zuko, "hey, maybe you should consider that the Fire Nation is evil & the Avatar is good." I think I would rather criticize the writers for not showing us more of Iroh's internal struggles though because the inconsistencies ARE interesting on a character level if you think about Iroh as a person. ✨Nuance ✨The main reason they become annoying is if you take the presentation of an "infinitely wise old man with all the answers" & run with it too hard. Not the most interesting way to look at it. So, in that way, Zuko's betrayal hurts.
But in the way that all I care about in life is the Fire Siblings.....Zuko's betrayal is the most iconic thing he's ever done actually! +2000 iconic behavior points. Obviously, I'm being hyperbolic & you guys (hopefully) know I don't actually root for the Fire Nation but I just love the Fire Siblings.
I will say though - something that hasn't changed about my perception of Zuko's betrayal - I 100% get it & I was never mad at him for it. I'm not saying I'm NEVER mad at Zuko ok, don't group me in with people who wash away all of Zuko's flaws please, I'm saying that I sympathize & get why he did what he did & I felt this way the first time that I watched too because I remember arguing (not like angry arguing, just debating) it with my family. Literally, the Fire Nation is all he knows! His SISTER is telling him to please come home. He misses his father & wants his father's approval. It's like....completely sympathetic & understandable. I'm not saying he's RIGHT I'm saying it's sympathetic. There's a huge difference. ✨Nuance✨
Oh & the fight scenes in this episode!!!!! Shocking to 0 people my favorite is Katara versus Azula. They're both incredible benders & it's a spectacular fight & ALSO NARRATIVE FOILS FIGHTING EACH OTHER!!! TWO PRODIGIOUS YOUNG BENDERS FIGHTING SIDE BY SIDE WITH THEIR BROTHERS FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IS RIGHT!!! FIRE VERSUS WATER - & LIKE BLUE FIRE (THE HOTTEST KIND) VERSUS ICE!!! YEAHHH!!!!!
Tumblr media
[ID: Azula with her bans swooshing in front of her. end id]
Katara gets +3000 iconic behavior points for CUTTING OFF PART OF AZULA'S BANGS with ice. Oh & I never noticed it until now but it sort of parallels the moment when Zuko cuts off the end of the wheat Jet has in his mind in THEIR homoerotic boss fight. I KNOW these are two of my favorite ships for good reason, if your ships can't have epic death battles nearly killing each other what is even the POINT MAN!!!
Um, anyway. And Aang dies. What is it with the final Chosen One Tm heroes dying? Buffy, Aang, Harry Potter...Sorry for bringing the Terf series into it but like....C'mon, y'all get why I did right this is a pattern in iconic coming-of-age Chosen One stories. I don't know what it means, but it means something, I'm sure of it.
Luckily, Katara still has the spirit water & she saves Aang's life, so he's fine. Yay! That is about all I have for this episode for now. I'll tally the iconic behavior points in a separate post :)

NAME: Priya Paswan.
LOVE INTEREST: Michelle “MJ” Watson.
SUMMARY: Priya first discovered that she was mutant when she was twelve years old, her X-gene randomly activating and reversing the flow of her family’s kitchen faucet, completely busting the pipe. Terrified that their daughter might be taken away by the government or at least hated simply for being different, her parents urged to hide her ability to control water in all its forms. And Priya did - until, that was, she was fourteen and discovered that one of her classmates was the spider-themed vigilante that had recently started swinging around New York. After impulsively using the healing side of her abilities to help Peter Parker, Priya suddenly gains a new person who knows her secret, a few secrets of somebody else’s to keep, and a new position as Spider-Man’s nurse. So now she spends her days going to school and debate meetings, pining over the same girl she’s liked since fifth grade, and still doing her best to hide what she can do, and her nights holding glowing water over whatever injuries Peter couldn’t fix by himself and praying that her parents never find her sneaking a boy out of her room. But when her new friend faces a threat much more dangerous than any of his other foes, Priya is forced to wonder if the fighting moves she’s practiced with her powers might come in handy after all - and if some secrets are really worth keeping if they’re going to put someone else in danger.
OTHER INFO:
Her superhero name, once she shows up to help Peter during his final fight against the Vulture and starts going out on patrols with him, is Riptide.
Her parents are actually really cool and supportive, and encourage her to figure out different ways to use her powers - they’re just very worried about the government or anyone against superpowered people getting their hands on her, so they set rules that she can only use her powers at home. (Although once they realize she’s set on being Riptide and helping people with Peter, they’re very supportive.)
She finds out that Peter’s Spider-Man after coming across him injured in the alley behind her apartment building while taking out the garbage, and she recognizes his voice from classes and debate when he tries to assure her he’s fine. She helps patch him up with her water powers, and from there they kind of come to an agreement - as long as Peter comes to her for help with the wounds he can’t fix himself, neither of them will reveal the others’ secret.
Her powers are sort of based off of Katara and waterbenders in general, from Avatar - she can manipulate water in all its forms and shift it between states of matter at will, but she can also use the liquid form for healing.
She and MJ don’t get together until the end of Far From Home, after Priya finally gets up the courage to talk to her and they’ve known each other for a bit, but they’re very much a power couple once they do get together.
send me a fandom + a faceclaim and i’ll make an oc!!

This is basically an adaptation of Pet Semetary because if there's one thing I love, it's a spooky ATLA story.
After spending a few years in the Southern Tribe, helping to rebuild, Katara accepts a diplomatic post in the Fire Nation. Some time later, the Gaang decides it's time for a reunion, and they settle on Ember Island as the spot to meet up. Aang arrives first, excited to see his friends and also to try once again to move something forward with Katara. He spends a day or two settling into his room and planning how to get Katara alone in some romantic spot on the property.
When everyone arrives, Katara and Zuko tell them they have an announcement. They are dating, and have been together for several months now. Everyone is thrilled for them, except for Aang, who manages to get through a meal before he leaves abruptly and goes out for a midnight flight. Momo goes with him.
Somehow during the flight, Momo gets grievously injured. Aang hurries back to the beach house and bursts into Katara's room, begging her to heal Momo. She tries, but it's too late. Momo is gone. Aang, grieving his friend, and also grieving his "loss" of Katara, explodes at her, blaming her for Momo's death, for his misery, and several other things that Katara doesn't understand because they are based on things that Aang fantasized about and not things that have actually happened between them. Her feelings are hurt. His feelings are hurt. Momo's dead. It's a mess.
Aang goes to bed that night with every intention of leaving the next day, but in his sleep, he's visited by a spirit who shows him the way to a disused burial ground. He goes there and buries Momo, avoiding his friends the whole time. Then before he prepares to leave, Momo comes back. Only, it's not Momo...

8, 17, and 27 for the ask game!
8. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write?
I thought this would be an easy one to answer but I'm having a hard time 🤣 The obvious answer seems to be Aang or Katara, but I'm going with Sokka. I haven't written his POV or Sokka-centric fics, but he has played an important role in several of my fics, both in a comic and serious capacity. His dialogue flows very easily for me, probably because he has such a distinctive voice. And he's just a lot of fun to write!
17. A trope you’ll never, ever write for.
High school AU, because the interest is just not there 😌
27. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?
I've received many wonderful comments on my fics and it's hard to single one out 🥺 So I'll go with a recent comment that I think about a lot, which technically isn't a comment at all - it's a note on a bookmark for Without Water.
Fuck, man. This is one of the best pieces of writing I've ever read and it perfectly shows the care Katara has for Aang and how much she's willing to do for him, as well as the pain, anguish, and worry she has. These fics abt how she healed him wre always my favorite, and this one is so, so beautiful. The words are intricately woven and absolutely amazing. Ho-oly shit.
I guess the fic hit them hard and their comment hits me hard 🥺🥺😭😭 When I need a pick-me-up about writing fic, I reread the comments on my fics, and this one especially.

Greetings fellow Zuko enthusiast. You say your ✨desperate✨ eh? Well, I’ll give you three ideas and you can just choose which one/ones you want to write (if you yk, feel like writing them at all 😳)
1. Hcs where Zuko joins the gang and falls in love with the kind and caring earthbender? Ik they already have Toph but idk maybe this earthbender could specialize in like herbology or plants. Idk, it’s whatever you wanna do.
2. A oneshot with Lee (Zuko but in ~different font~ lol 😂) where him and his uncle have competition with the coffee shop across from them. So Zuko *ahem* pardon me, Lee, goes over there to see what it’s all about and ends up like meeting the manager of the place and low-key hating them at first. But then, they like….slowly grow on each other from seeing each other around and running into each other. Eventually they start dating and well….you can decide how it goes from there.
3. Hcs for Zuko with a librarian s/o? Maybe they manage the palace library and where like just hired or smth?
Just some of my random useless thoughts. Hope your morning/evening is going well, take care of yourself! 💞

‘Flower Field’- Zuko x fem!reader
Masterlist <3
An: GOOD DAY FRIENDS. First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE REQUEST YOU MADE MY DAY <3
Imma do them all I think but I’m starting with the first one for now :)
Summary:
See request number 1.
Warnings: None.
Tumblr media
When Zuko joined the Gaang™ you were practically the first person to be nice to him.
It was in your nature what can I say
But like? He didn’t really get it?
Because the only other earthbender he met was Toph, so he kinda expected the rest to be the same-
So like, not only were you kind and caring, but also, a herbalist.
So technically a healer.
Very confusing concept for Zuko
But eventually he warms up to you too.
When Azula attacked y’all at the temple, Katara didn’t wanna heal his small burns and whatnot.
So you did.
In your tent.
Safe to say he was dying.
That’s when he realised he was crushing on you
And his reaction was just to get super flustered-
Anyways, you healed him using plants obv
“Uhh thanks.” he fiddled with his hands
“Oh don’t worry about it, cutey.”
AHHHHH
Words came out of your mouth before you could comprehend it.
Trying to play it cool though
Zuko is literally dying.
You give him instructions and whatever about what he needs to do to heal fully, then he leaves your tent.
He gets jealous when you heal Sokka or literally any other guy that could be a love interest.
Ahem Haru Ahem
ANYWAYS-
Like you would be healing Sokka after sparring and he’d be in the distance like: >:(
Sokka, Toph, and Katara catch on.
Aang does not.
Sokka ships it 100%, Toph thinks it’s funny, and Katara is not fond of the idea.
“I HAVE A PLAN, LET'S MAKE THEM BOND OVER HEALING!” sokka says
“Zuko isn’t a healer,”
“I know,”
“Are you saying we should hurt Zuko!” Katara yells
“It would be my pleasure!”
“TOPH! NO!”
She spars with Zuko and defeats him
He’s hurt
Sokka’s like “oh nooo! I’ll call Yn!”
He brings you over and you inspect the wound.
“Hm, I dunno, maybe Katara would do a better job on this one”
“KATARA’S BUSY!”
“Doing what?”
“Training!”
You eyed Sokka, knowing he was lying. What on Earth could he be up to?
“I’m sure she can pause training to help Zuko,”
Zuko is just behind you, completely flustered and dead inside.
“Nope she can't,” Sokka added.
“Okay” you sighed, not having the energy to argue.
Plus you get to spend more time with Zuko so 🤷‍♀️
You brought Zuko to your tent, and began collecting your things.
“This is going to hurt a bit” you smiled, as you gave him your hand.
Could you have given him something else? Probably. Did you want to hold his hand? Yes.
He took your hand, a light blush dusting his cheeks.
When you began healing him, he squeezed your hand really tightly
:)
So cute.
After you're done, you wrap it up.
“All done!”
Ok time skip-
So he was definitely teased a lot by Sokka. Like he caught on to the fact that Sokka caught on.
Even angstier than usual :(
You notice.
It seems like he’s avoiding you like the plague,
You are sad, bc your in love with this grumpy idiot
So one day, you invite him to get plants with you (for healing because you ran out)
He doesn't want to.
“Please, you’ve been avoiding me and I miss hanging out with you.”
He feels SO BAD
“Okay”
Yay
So y’all are picking flowers and whatnot
And you take one of the prettiest flowers there, and put it behind his ear.
Then you laugh at him because he’s blushing, but you’re covering your mouth to try not to laugh.
But your laughing makes him blush even harder.
After a while, you guys decide to sit down and chill for a bit.
“I’m sorry I ignored you,”
“It’s okay, but did I do something wrong?”
“No no you didn’t do anything wrong!”
“Oh. Then, why’d you ignore me?”
He stares for a bit, before sitting facing you.
You are so confused
He sighs
(Think of it as the gif in the start. like that's how he looks)
“It’s because I like you. I like like you. Like more than I would like a friend. I like you like a-”
You cut him off by crashing your lips into his
It takes him a second to understand but he gets it
He kisses you back with so much passion.
Then when you separate, you say:
“I like like you too,”
He’s so happy.
When you guys go back to camp, Sokka notices Zuko not avoiding you anymore.
You walk Zuko to his room, and give him a goodnight kiss.
“Goodnight!”
Just as you're about to walk away, Zuko grabs your wrist lightly.
“Can you actually stay?” he says avoiding your gaze.
Ofc how could anyone say no-
You guys cuddle all night.
Katara comes to wake y’all up in the morning.
“Oh my god, Sokka was right.”
Tumblr media
An: I really hope I did a good job with this lol. Again, Thank you so much for the request. As always, hope you enjoyed reading, SEE YA! <3

not anon- would katara scarring azula have made her a foil to zuko?? how so
Thank you for asking, I love rambling about Azula, Katara & Zuko & narrative ✨themes ✨ so much
Would it have made Azula a foil to Zuko? Or Katara a foil to Zuko? I’m guessing you mean Azula since she’d be getting a scar, another parallel among many to her brother.
(Reference to this ask)
I think regardless the narrative no matter what remains pretty clear that Azula & Katara are foils to each other.
Tumblr media
x
Azula & Katara are both the prodigy younger sisters of their less talented but still hard working older brothers causing some family tension but Katara & Sokka communicate clearly & have a loving relationship while Azula & Zuko’s rivalry drives them to their tragic final battle. Katara & Azula both have absent mother figures & father figured embroiled by the war effort but Katara confronts her father for his absence during a lot of her life & has a touching moment while Azula is left behind by her father in the end as he pursues power over connection with her.
I don’t think that Katara scarring Azula would change that. If anything it adds poetry just like the final Agni Kai did - the only one who can take Azula down is her narrative foil, the water to her fire.
But in terms of how it would mirror Zuko’s scar? How it would impact the parallels between the fire siblings? And both of their parallels with Katara? Interesting question.
I’m imagining a scene now with Azula & Zuko talking & discussing their facial scars. Imagine it’s post war & Azula is working on healing & it’s a slow process but she’s getting there.
Azula would have a different relationship to her scar than Zuko does with his because the circumstances are so different. Zuko was publicly humiliated & disfigured by his own father for speaking out. In a scenario where Katara scarred Azula during the crystal catacombs fight, it was two equals battling at war. And huh, I don’t know exactly how significant it would be for that to happen right after Katara offered to heal Zuko’s scar with the spirit water but like, that HAS to be significant right? Idk.
I imagine post war Zuko would make a comment about how they both have scars now. And maybe Azula would say something quietly about how her real scars from the war aren’t visible & Zuko would think about that later, as it sunk in…
Anyway.
I think that if this had happened it would have been significant, because scars are always significant in stories especially battle scars. And I think that because of the importance to Zuko of his scar, it would have maybe given him & Azula something to connect over post war, even if it’s very different.
I also wonder how a scar would impact the value that Azula places on appearance post war? Especially after the fiasco with her #breakdown haircut tm & her future relationship with mirrors? Maybe she has to detach herself from caring so much about appearances?
Ok this definitely didn’t actually answer your actual question & instead went in several rambly directions & for that I’m sorry 😂
✨Anyway ✨
TLDR: i think would’ve been interesting if this happened but it wouldn’t change anyone’s narrative role in the story
