After an emotional time at Sachiko's house, Yumi and Kiyoshi parted ways. Yumi said she had to prepare the guest room as Yuna was flying into Mt. Komorebi, but those plans might have to quickly come to a halt as she began feeling disoriented due to a fever. Luckily... someone came to visit...

[Atlas explaining to Dawn and Phoenix the concept of the video game they’re designing. Asher just enjoying listening to Atlas.]

Kiyoshi: Hey guys! Asher/Phoenix: Hey! Dawn: Hello! Atlas: You made it! This must be - Kiyoshi: This is my fiancé, Kaori. This is Asher, Atlas, Dawn, and of course you know Phoenix.

Phoenix: Oh my god, Kaori! [runs over to give her a hug] It’s been forever, how are you? Kaori: I’m great! It’s so good to see you! Phoenix: You too! Where have you been?

Kaori: I’ve been working on my Masters, and it’s kept me so busy. But I’m graduating soon. Phoenix: Awesome! Y’know, by the time you come back, I’ll finally be able to kick your ass boarding. Kaori: Ahh, don’t get too cocky, you forget I grew up here. Phoenix: We’ll see.

Kaori: Where’s Aurelio? Did he not come up with you guys? Phoenix: You just missed him, he had to take off. Kaori: Oh shoot. Tell him I said hello. Phoenix: I will.

Dawn: These are amazing! Phoenix: Aren’t they? Dawn: You really do love winter, don’t you?

Phoenix: Why do you say it like that? Dawn: I’ve never seen you smile so much. You just seem… lighter.

Phoenix: So, I usually go to Copperdale and visit my uncle for Winterfest. We don’t really celebrate, it’s more of an excuse to cook and catch up, but do you want to come with me this year? He’d really like to meet you.   Dawn: Yeah, I’d love to. Phoenix: Okay, great.

Atlas: What are we talking about? Dawn: [playfully hits Atlas for interrupting] WE were talking about Winterfest. I’m going to Copperdale with Phoenix to see his uncle.

Atlas: [gasps, feigning outrage] And leaving me here all alone? Dawn: I’m sure you’ll survive. Asher: You could always come with me.

Atlas: Really? Asher: Why not? You’ve met my family. Atlas: Yeah, but that was before. Do they know we’re together now?

Asher: Of course. Atlas: Um, okay, sure. Asher: Cool. [his voice calm, but unable to hide the smile spreading across his face] Atlas: Cool? [rolling his eyes and giving him a big hug]

DOM: So wait - you were Kaori's first woo-hoo and you never had The Talk with her? KIYOSHI: I did have The Talk with her! DOM: [narrows eyes] KIYOSHI: ... Afterwards? DOM: [narrows eyes some more] DOM: No wonder she thought that you were together! KIYOSHI: Look, I realise now that I shouldn't have assumed we had the same SENTIMENTS and I know that I - uh, I have the PROPER trait now, can you say the thing for me please? DOM: You forbidden worded up... KIYOSHI: I did! I was such a Landgraab! And I've been apologising to her ever since. DOM: Well, it's a sad day in hell - I mean, that DINE OUT pack - when I feel sorry for Kaori, but at least you both learned something from this, yeah? Like how to be more straightforward about things? Even if talks like that make your shiny new third YOUNG ADULT TRAIT clutch at its pearls? KIYOSHI: [dryly] Yeah, all those JOKE ABOUT GETTING TOGETHER interactions at the Romance Festival were totally you being straightforward. DOM: ... DOM: Wait no, you can't hold me responsible for what the Sakura tea did!

DOM: So what I'm saying is that I landed in this save, not a Simoleon to my name and a Watcher forbidden worded bent on making the FABULOUSLY WEALTHY challenge even harder for herself, by which I mean me... KIYOSHI: I'm just a lowly premade but okay, I get it. DOM: And six weeks in I'm feeling a little more comfortable and I'm thinking - maybe I can move beyond just surviving and start living a little more? KIYOSHI: You mean like you want to come snowboarding with me? When the Watcher's dash gave you the CLUMSY trait? Or like not just subsisting from one day to another? DOM: Yeah definitely not going snowboarding with you. I'm SELF-ASSURED and DAUNTLESS, not INSANE - I mean, ERRATIC. Look, what I'm trying to say is that the whole 'not just subsisting from one day to another' thing, do you want to be a part of it? KIYOSHI: ... KIYOSHI: It sounds like you're asking me to teach you how to snowboard but context clues are leading me to believe that's not the case- DOM: I'm asking you to be my boyfriend, plumbob damn it! KIYOSHI: Ah. Okay. [...] No Sakura tea involved this time? DOM: No Sakura tea. [mutters] Though there might be some POTATO JUICE later if you don't give me an answer... KIYOSHI: Then yes. KIYOSHI: So I've thought about it more and I'm ready to become a played townie. DOM: Well hey, that's great! You were in a later pack so your default outfits ain't so bad, even the HOT and COLD WEATHER ones, but you'll get a sweet new wardrobe. And maybe even make progress on your ASPIRATION. Pro-Snowboarding, here you come! KIYOSHI: I'm sorry Dom, this time I was unclear. I'm asking if you'd like me to join your household. DOM: Uh, what now? KIYOSHI: It's highly improper of me to invite myself, I know. But since I'm still living at home, I didn't think you'd want to move in with my family? DOM: Yeah not the most tempting of offers, when you put it like that. KIYOSHI: I'll understand if it's a no. Being a played townie opens a whole new series of challenges, ones that I likely will never anticipate. DOM: Oh, truth on that. You're going to want to unlock STEEL BLADDER asap, trust me. KIYOSHI: And obviously adding me to your household is a huge step. Sorry, I should have lead with that. But could I just crash for a few nights? Is that okay? My dad, he's being such a - a... DOM: Do you need me to say it for you? KIYOSHI: No, I'll say it even though it will give me a negative sentiment later. A forbidden word. DOM: ... Well yeah, I'd always felt that way about him but I didn't think I should be the one to say it first, you know? He's your forbidden word, not mine. KIYOSHI: The way he talks to my mother, it's awful! I try not to get involved but I can't stand it anymore! I never want to become like that. DOM: Oh, you could never be anything like your father even if you tried for a whole LONG LIFESPAN setting, trust me. And by behaving like that in front of you, your sister - he is involving you. And it's not fair to any of you. So you can totally join my household. There'll just be certain... terms and conditions, since I'm part of a kind of Rags to Riches challenge.

So yes, Kiyoshi will be moving in after Week 7! He won't be making any money but he will be cooking and doing laundry. The Watcher figures that's fair since Dom can healthily sustain herself through quick meals and snacking on produce and laundry is a mechanic that I added just to be annoying anyway.

Also once he gets to LEVEL 2 HANDINESS, he will be re-upgrading all the appliances since they've somehow reset from Dom's upgrades and we really need to not die whenever we use the Murphy Bed, thank you very much...

Kaori Nishidake is extremely underrated

Dear Diary,

Mom brought me with her to Mt. Komorebi this weekend. She's practising her rock climbing...she wanted me to practice too, but it's not really my thing.

When I told Kaori over the phone that I'd be in town, she didn't seem very excited...but she showed up to walk me around the bamboo forest. Maybe I'm growing on her? She's growing on me for sure. She's, like, movie star pretty. And she laughs at my jokes too.

Yumi found the above collage while rummaging through her high school box and immediately framed it. The photos were taken from when Yumi's parents wanted her to go house sit for her grandparents, who lived up in Yukimatsu while they had gone to Tartosa to celebrate 50 long years of marriage. Yumi gladly accepted on the condition that Kaori could accompany her. Her father, being the softie he was for his only daughter, said yes.

So, I took Phoenix and Dawn to Mt. Komorebi to finally meet Kiyoshi and Kaori's baby. I wasn't going to make a post of it, but omg you guys! The way Phoenix absolutely refused to put this baby down! I was crying... he's so ready to be a papa 🥹💖

He held on to this kid for like three hours before I made him give him back and go home 😅
