To illustrate the need for better darker skinned makeup options, this is what Dominique looked like once I got rid of the default makeup. Much better, but also you can tell that she's wearing hardly any (just a bit of lip tint that I adjusted the opacity on and some barely visible contouring to make her cheekbones pop).
Which is fine since Dom wouldn't really bother unless it was a prom or a party (and even then it's nebulous) and tends to express herself through other means, but see how limiting it is if you *do* want to play a darker skinned character who likes makeup.

Intermission: Kiyoshi Is Dumb (Occasionally) But Then Again, So Is Dom...
(some euphemistic matters below - nothing above vanilla gameplay level. also kiyoshi's dad is a forbidden word. also a lot of SHIT MY CHARACTER SAYS dialogue)
DOM: So wait - you were Kaori's first woo-hoo and you never had The Talk with her?
KIYOSHI: I did have The Talk with her!
DOM: [narrows eyes]
KIYOSHI: ... Afterwards?
DOM: [narrows eyes some more]
DOM: No wonder she thought that you were together!
KIYOSHI: Look, I realise now that I shouldn't have assumed we had the same SENTIMENTS and I know that I - uh, I have the PROPER trait now, can you say the thing for me please?
DOM: You forbidden worded up...
KIYOSHI: I did! I was such a Landgraab! And I've been apologising to her ever since.
DOM: Well, it's a sad day in hell - I mean, that DINE OUT pack - when I feel sorry for Kaori, but at least you both learned something from this, yeah? Like how to be more straightforward about things? Even if talks like that make your shiny new third YOUNG ADULT TRAIT clutch at its pearls?
KIYOSHI: [dryly] Yeah, all those JOKE ABOUT GETTING TOGETHER interactions at the Romance Festival were totally you being straightforward.
DOM: ...
DOM: Wait no, you can't hold me responsible for what the Sakura tea did!
DOM: So what I'm saying is that I landed in this save, not a Simoleon to my name and a Watcher forbidden worded bent on making the FABULOUSLY WEALTHY challenge even harder for herself, by which I mean me...
KIYOSHI: I'm just a lowly premade but okay, I get it.
DOM: And six weeks in I'm feeling a little more comfortable and I'm thinking - maybe I can move beyond just surviving and start living a little more?
KIYOSHI: You mean like you want to come snowboarding with me? When the Watcher's dash gave you the CLUMSY trait? Or like not just subsisting from one day to another?
DOM: Yeah definitely not going snowboarding with you. I'm SELF-ASSURED and DAUNTLESS, not INSANE - I mean, ERRATIC. Look, what I'm trying to say is that the whole 'not just subsisting from one day to another' thing, do you want to be a part of it?
KIYOSHI: ...
KIYOSHI: It sounds like you're asking me to teach you how to snowboard but context clues are leading me to believe that's not the case-
DOM: I'm asking you to be my boyfriend, plumbob damn it!
KIYOSHI: Ah. Okay. [...] No Sakura tea involved this time?
DOM: No Sakura tea. [mutters] Though there might be some POTATO JUICE later if you don't give me an answer...
KIYOSHI: Then yes. I'll absolutely be your boyfriend.

KIYOSHI: So I've thought about it more and I'm ready to become a played townie.
DOM: Well hey, that's great! You were in a later pack so your default outfits ain't so bad, even the HOT and COLD WEATHER ones, but you'll get a sweet new wardrobe. And maybe even make progress on your ASPIRATION. Pro-Snowboarding, here you come!
KIYOSHI: I'm sorry Dom, this time I was unclear. I'm asking if you'd like me to join your household.
DOM: Uh, what now?
KIYOSHI: It's highly improper of me to invite myself, I know. But since I'm still living at home, I didn't think you'd want to move in with my family?
DOM: Yeah not the most tempting of offers, when you put it like that.
KIYOSHI: I'll understand if it's a no. Being a played townie opens a whole new series of challenges, ones that I likely will never anticipate.
DOM: Oh, truth on that. You're going to want to unlock STEEL BLADDER asap, trust me.
KIYOSHI: And obviously adding me to your household is a huge step. Sorry, I should have lead with that. But could I just crash for a few nights? Is that okay? My dad, he's being such a - a...
DOM: Do you need me to say it for you?
KIYOSHI: No, I'll say it even though it will give me a negative sentiment later. A forbidden word.
DOM: ... Well yeah, I'd always felt that way about him but I didn't think I should be the one to say it first, you know? He's your forbidden word, not mine.
KIYOSHI: The way he talks to my mother, it's awful! I try not to get involved but I can't stand it anymore! I never want to become like that.
DOM: Oh, you could never be anything like your father even if you tried for a whole LONG LIFESPAN setting, trust me. And by behaving like that in front of you, your sister - he is involving you. And it's not fair to any of you. So you can totally join my household. There'll just be certain... terms and conditions, since I'm part of a kind of Rags to Riches challenge.
So yes, Kiyoshi will be moving in after Week 7! He won't be making any money but he will be cooking and doing laundry. The Watcher figures that's fair since Dom can healthily sustain herself through quick meals and snacking on produce and laundry is a mechanic that I added just to be annoying anyway.
Also once he gets to LEVEL 2 HANDINESS, he will be re-upgrading all the appliances since they've somehow reset from Dom's upgrades and we really need to not die whenever we use the Murphy Bed, thank you very much...

And she still got the whim to plant another stink capsule right after so lol duck my life I guess.
(For the record, the Watcher took pity on Sofia and used the MAKE HAPPY cheat, so she wasn't stinky for the rest of the day. Dom - whose hygiene bar likewise took a hit - got no such blessing.)

It's likely obvious by now that the Sims 4 werewolves are catnip (wrong species, I know) to me. But is there also a possibility that I'm catnip to the werewolves?
Case in point: Greg is showing up everywhere in my saves.
Here he is yet again in Evergreen Harbor, where I had sent Dom to acquire some FABRICATION skills.
Oh crap, he's headed this way.
The green plumbob you spy in the distant top right is Dom, borrowing the Greenburg's maker and blissfully unaware of just how close she came to developing an even worse case of puberty 🐺
"TINA TINKER!!! LET EVERYONE ELSE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER USE THE RECYCLER. THE MAKER IS SICK OF YOUR [FORBIDDEN WORD]!!!"
And with that completing what is likely his one allotted good deed for the next two centuries, he vanished.

Here's the Sim that I'm planning on doing this here thing with.
BASICS
NAME: Dominique (Dom) Larkham
When I added the vitiligo in CAS, she reminded me of Zazie Beetz's Domino in Deadpool II, along with her buoyant nature. It's the wrong eye but I called her Dominique as a kind of tribute.
AGE: Teen, will age up with two positive and one negative PARENTHOOD traits.
TRAITS: Self-Assured, Freegan.
Her third trait upon aging up will also be decided by poll. I just need to know her second one first as some will be unavailable depending on the result (ie. a FREEGAN can be LAZY but can't be a SNOB etc).

PLAYTESTED: Yes, use bb.moveobjects.
The HSY escape window doesn't work but that's a glitch I've encountered all my saves, nothing to do with placement etc.
Your Sim may need at least L3 Handiness to get the bed down properly (also you can die via a Murphy Bad malfunction).
The laundry function has been enabled through the clothesline, laundry hamper and washtub.

Apart from the house value, Dom's funds have been cheated to zero. She has no skills, no musical instruments and nothing with which to make money. And she still needs to attend high school.
The overriding goal is for her to achieve the FABULOUSLY WEALTHY aspiration (with a greater total maybe) buuut we can work on others in the meantime. There will be a post on her progress per in-game week. I want to take a fun and silly collaborative approach to this, where I'll throw up polls and you can help (or hinder) Dom as you like.
I am a vanilla player (all packs except DINE OUT and PERFECT PATIO) and have no intention of portraying serious themes beyond the silliness in which they're handled in the game - and absolutely no exclusively real-world issues (racism, sexism etc). Those don't exist in the Sims 4, and thank goodness for that.

Intermission: Dom's and Kiyoshi's Weird Date
(To clarify: neither of them were being particularly weird xD But it was - well, Sims be Simming.)
It started out unsuspectingly enough when look who conveniently appeared and started doing push ups in the background!
DOM: Is that your ex?
KIYOSHI: Kaori? Yeah that's her but we never actually dated - is that what she's been telling people?
KAORI: And that makes it an even 200! Yes, clearly I am the superior choice...
She wasn't the only one gracing us with her presence.
This is Megumi, Kiyoshi's famous (and hot) mom. I feel like those of his friends who don't have a crush on him, have a crush on her. Or if you're bipanicking like Dom, porque no los dos?
(She doesn't actually have a crush on Megumi, for the record)
As Dom had the whim to play chess though, she got RESET OBJECTED pretty quickly. Then Morgan showed up.
KIYOSHI: Ignore her and she'll go away...
DOM: Don't worry, it's far too sunny out for her pale arse. She'll leave soon. Well, that or combust into flames.
MORGAN: Look I just wanted to watch some moves from a Level 4 LOGIC Sim so that Hugo Villareal doesn't keep on embarrassing me at chess, but fine. I'll leave.
Then this girl arrived. I can't remember her name so she's likely just a random gen. But she's from the same pack as Kiyoshi and she has the MEAN trait. And with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes causes negative moodlets wherever she goes, forbidden words out all the teachers at school - yet never seems to get in trouble while poor sweet innocent Dom merely planted a stink capsule in a trash can that one time, gosh.
(Well she did a bunch of other things too. But she never got caught.)
MEAN GIRL (aka REGINA GEORGE WANNABE): Sul sul! I have all your merchandise!
KIYOSHI: Hey. The person next to me who you're totally ignoring is Dom, by the way - wait, my what?
DOM: He has no merchandise. Not officially. You probably just shelled out your last simoleon for Jacques Villareal's latest scam. Sucks to be you, I guess.
REGINA GEORGE WANNABE: So my monthly subscription to your fanclub - I'll never get those newsletters?
DOM: Really, really sucks to be you...
Alas, her last two brain cells waved in tandem to Dom's subtle jibe as it whooshed on by.
Kiyoshi tried to continue as normal, but to no avail.
KIYOSHI: So this one time, at S-Pop Idol camp - oh my watcher, she's still behind us, isn't she?
DOM: Yuuup.
They tried to freeze her out by taking some selfies together, but clearly she wasn't having it.
Then Kiyoshi spontaneously shot her this look that made me howl with laughter.
KIYOSHI: (willing telepathically) Please. Leave.
However it was also Prank Day, so Dom's high level in MISCHIEF came in clutch with the good ole HAND BUZZER trick.
DOM: Ha ha - got you!
KIYOSHI: (Officially I'm far too proper for such nonsense but begrudgingly I am also impressed...)
In spite of everything, it seems that the date was a success. At least the champagne in Dom's inventory said as much, right up until she put it through the Greenburg's recycler.
DOM: You're classy so I guess that I'll court you and stuff.
KIYOSHI: Oh, consider me courted.
But someone else reappeared and had the ominous last word...
KAORI: The SUAVE KISS move, eh? Do not think for a moment, San Myshuno upstart gutter rat, that I haven't figured you out...
(I actually like Kaori and something that I normally don't like is the jealous infatuated girl trope. But the lore wrote itself, I swear xD)
And because the day was stranger still, in the background while all this was going down, Keala Hoapili from the ISLAND LIVING pack was randomly running around.
KEALA: The fairies - they're coming for us all! THE FAIRIES!!!
THE WATCHER: Ma'am, EA will only give us that game pack when the sun sets in the east and rises in the west. Don't worry.
KEALA: But the sun does set in the east - it was all 1969-era CGI!
THE WATCHER: ...
No one seemed to be listening to her portents of doom, however, so she got progressively more agitated.
Next she'll be screaming how they're all living in a simulation like some Animal Crossing Lazy villager, ye gods.
Ah, Kiyoshi Ito. The poor guy is wearing a tin hat, I swear. Someone has to be the token sane and normal-ish sim in every save and I fear that in this one, such a task falls to him. You are the ring-bearer, Kiyoshi, and to be a ring-bearer is to be alone.
Later that day, Dom wrote in her diary.
"Well, the good news about dating the best looking guy in school is that everyone is jealous of me. The bad news about dating the - wait, there is no bad news! That's what the SELF-ASSURED trait is for. Later, haters."

Dom and Malcolm already have a fun dynamic. She wants to dislike him on principle but he's actually pretty funny and is one of the few people who genuinely enjoy her mischief interactions, even if he's the one getting pranked. I guess he's one of those types who can be quite gregarious and charming initially aaaand it's only when you dig deeper that you realise they're an a-hole.

To illustrate what I'm talking about below, my victim will be this poor unfortunate soul (she's actually quite pretty once I removed that ridiculous clown makeup). I put another pic of her beneath the cut.
For her three adult traits, I'm thinking one to help make money, one to hinder making money, and a third of my own choosing. So here's the options for the helpful trait.
So of the above, FREEGAN is likely the most useful while KLEPTO is the least (but still some help). GEEK is somewhere in between as they are the best at finding collectibles.
See? Pretty as forbidden word when EA's makeup isn't making her look like a clown.

After I'm finished with Serenity, I'm thinking of a twist on this challenge @corrienteallita is doing. The money goal probably won't be that high (maybe the FABULOUSLY WEALTHY aspiration?) but the catch is that I'll put up polls so that you guys can choose to either help or hinder my Sim.
The reason for this is that I really liked the Choose Your Own Adventure element of letting my dash decide what packs I unlocked next. It really set the gameplay focus for the next week and I thought: what if we can soup this up a little more?
So this late night ramble is essentially: would y'all be interested in taking a more collaborative approach to one of my Sims? How exactly that's going to look is something I'm still figuring out/open to feedback but I'm thinking polls like picking one of her traits, deciding who she romances, what skill she should max out next (relevant to the whole money making thing) and so forth.
(ftr, I'm nixing PAINTING for making money as that's just op)

Intermission: College Student Needs Roommates!
Okay, so she would probably be better off without one/prefer this not to happen. But if you get everything you want, Dom, then where is the character development? xD
Here are our candidates:
PAKA'A UHA: music lover, child of the ocean, goofball, gregarious*
If you want to be nice to Dom, he would probably be the option to pick. He's pretty chill, has a compatible sense of humour with the GOOFBALL trait, and is a gender nonconforming Sim who could be a reference to how mermaids are often used as an allegory for being trans (also many Polynesian cultures traditionally have genderfluid/nonbinary roles).
FAIZ JALEEL: active, loves outdoors, romantic, alluring*
Don't really know much about him, tbh. Seems nice enough. Pretty eyes. A hairstyle that reminds me of that one scene in There's Something About Mary. Plus with the ROMANTIC trait, potential to make a mess of whatever Dom and Kiyoshi have (or not) going on? Or at least some overnight guests maybe.
CELENE LOPEZ: neat, geek, outgoing, gregarious*, werewolf ally
This one feels like a bit of a cheat since I possibly already know her ROOMMATE QUIRKS, unless they change from one save to another. In a different save she was blasting loud music and continuously baking those Level 1 white cakes, but was otherwise alright. Although maybe not so much here, as the stereo is in Dom's room?
WOLFGANG WILDER: gloomy, creative, bookworm, muser*
Ah, the famed Moonwood Mill librarian and no connection at all to published author Vulfgang Mulder. I couldn't really figure out whether he and Dom got along. One of the very first things he did was TRICK WITH HAND BUZZER, which of course Dom loved, but every now and then I saw those negative relationship moodlets - possibily because he was in werewolf form and Dom doesn't yet have the WEREWOLF ALLY trait.
Obviously as a werewolf there is a potential for chaos. However I think that Wolfgang starts the game with a decent werewolf level (PRIME maybe?) and as a member of the Collective, he's not supposed to be unpleasant towards Sims in his beast form in order to uphold pack values.
Below the cut, several that didn't make the cut (whomp whomp).
MEAN MERMAID (KALAMAINU'U IONA): In spite of her CHIEF OF MISCHIEF aspiration, her and Dom did not get along at all, probably due to her MEAN trait. And tendency to kick over Dom's trashcan.
At least she finally gave Dom a chance to use the BOMBADIERS AWAY mischief interaction.
Totally convincing "oh, oops?" from Dom there.
She then came back with Paka'a, looking positively thrilled to be there too. Also a merperson using an umbrella - highly sus.
Pro tip: if you're trying to make a good impression on a potential roommate, it's probably not the best idea to be mean to the other applicants straight off the bat.
I love how chill Paka'a looks here. They probably know each other from Sulani, so he's just like "oh yeah, that's Kala. We have a running bet to see how long she can go without insulting anyone." Dom sent her packing regardless.
THIS RANDOM GENERATED TOWNIE
Likely from the Snowy Escape pack based on what I recall from the name alone. Could even be the same townie that Dom and Kiyoshi both had beef with during their date.
Anyway, somehow she made an even worse impression than Kala. All she did was kick over Dom's trash can, rifle through romance novels only to leave them lying around, then - final straw - helped herself to all of Dom's beloved plants that she can't even sell at the moment, thanks to the Watcher's stringent set of rules.
After Kala was kind enough to be the test subject of the BOMBADIERS AWAY interaction, Dom threw a few handfuls of those at her then kicked her butt for good measure, making Dom two out of two in terms of her Battle Royale victories. For a Sim with the CLUMSY trait, she seems to be decent at throwing down.
ELOISE HIDDLESTIX (Thriftea owner), UKUPANIPO HEKEKIA and NALANI MAHI'AI
Aka: "maybe Sulani has changed their protected species laws because every single merperson is just fleeing there." Nothing wrong with any of them per se - I just wasn't feeling it. Also Dom and her friends all knew Eloise when they were still teens so it would feel weird if any behaviour that Darling Walsh would disapprove of occurred.

Have a Caleb Vatore (and another flagrantly out-of-world townie) tending the stalls at the Festival of Lights. Caleb was living his best life right up until I took this picture of him. He's probably thinking of all the Mythical Family challenges (and dirty diapers) I've looped him into over the last year xD
I'm in Week 8 of gameplay and Dom has just about finished Master Maker. Her next ASPIRATION is going to be Freelance Botanist (she has all this produce that she currently can't sell) but honestly as she's nearly maxed out on GARDENING already, it won't take that long. So have another clicky!
You can probably figure out which of these will be the real grind xD Again if you choose to HINDER Dom, it's likely going to be APPLIANCE WHIZ, while LADY OF THE KNITS will HELP her the most, especially since she already has some skill from an elective class. I've played some with the Crystal pack and it doesn't seem particularly painful.

Not being conventionally gorgeous like his sister or an evil child genius like his brother, I feel like Hugo is the forgotten Villareal where most of Windenburg is concerned. So this may have given him a confidence boost - and endeared him to Dom some :')
Also the reason why Dom isn't going to high school herself is that she decided to take the early graduation option - which she did on a whim, in a very Dom-like manner. It was basically "I stayed out until four using the Greenburg's fabricator and I can't be ducking bothered to go to school tomorrow so thanks for the memories I guess, home of the llamas..."
And she started her career as a shiny new Foxbury undergrad. Her grades were good enough to go to Britechester on a full scholarship ride - but is she really a Britechester kind of girlie?
In her spare time (hah) she grabbed free food from the Greenburgs and even got the opportunity to be a Big Damn Hero thanks to the household's incompetence with the grill.
I love the look Sims get on their face when they use the extinguisher.
She even got a nice little sentiment boost from Mary.
Let's be real, Mary. You're just going to die of natural causes next week since the Watcher has the SHORT LIFESPAN option enabled and didn't factor in that all the oldies would perish, but we won't talk about that now.
Also aging up to Young Adult means that Dom can finally take on those freelance gigs, so money money money money - MONAY...

Absolutely loving this new aspiration 👍
I was brave and turned aging back on (so I'll need to avoid my other saves until teenaged-Dom is over) which means young adultness aaaand a third trait will soon be upon us! Considered only aging her up, but I do like her dynamic with some of her peers and want to see how those will develop.
For this one, I went with traits that would possibly hinder her money making abilities. Surprisingly, HIGH MAINTENANCE is compatible with FREEGAN, but it seems like it would be too gamebreaking to manage.
LAZY and NEAT will mean that she'll still be successful with dumpster diving, but will cancel out any positive moodlets she may get from it (plus I assume neatness would give you major negative moodlets from the activity in the first place).
CLUMSY seems relatively harmless but will make it harder for Dom to build up physical activities, including HANDINESS, and more likely to break appliances or experience electrocution when repairing them. Which given that a lot of her money will eventually come from making and selling items is a legit issue.
