Oh I got a good one!
Remember AU prompt 5? Well Imagine all the other fallen take an interest in the reader and they all begin fighting over them?
Request Prompt #33 - ✦💓
You couldn't be in any more of a pickle now. Apparently, you've figured out since we last left off from, that this is a seal dimension. A dimension specifically created by the witches in order to contain some very specific beings. And to be honest? You were currently considering just crumbling on the spot from anxiety. Because out of all the cookies you've seen here( aka, like, five you think?) you're the only one that's normal sized! How fun. ( Disclaimer: it is not fun, you are fucking terrified. ) You can already hear two of them fighting, well, so far it's only verbal so at least you aren't in too much danger. All you have to do is stay hidden... stay hidden... stay hidden. You open your eyes, the forest around you has changed again. You also could no longer see the other two cookie's arguing, you're pretty sure that their names had been Burning Spice and Mystic Flour? You weren't sure. But you did know that they were arguing about you. Or more specifically, how you got here. You sneak out from your former hiding place, the forest had definitely changed your location. It just... did that sometimes, that's why it was so easy for you to get lost. Whenever you hid from something in the shadows there was a good chance that the forest around you was going to change again. " Oh I'm terribly sorry for the wait, little star." You heard a voice echo through the forest. You froze up- what the heck forest? Weren't these strange teleports supposed to get you out of danger? I mean, that's what they did before, right? You were immediately seize with a gasp by a large hand made out of shadows, it slithered up speedily into the tree where it deposited you into the equally large hand of a certain individual. You cast your gaze up into the gigantic eyes of Shadow Milk Cookie, which stared at you with interest and amusement. In hindsight, maybe you should have stopped hiding in the shadows. " Aw, what's the matter little star?" He cooed, poking at your cheek. " Are you not happy to see me? That's very disheartening, you know?" He spoke in that kind of tone that you'd use with a baby or a small animal, you know the one. " I don't think I'd be particularly happy to see any of you." You retorted, earning a cackle from the gigantic jester. You knew more about the beasts than you did when you arrived here after all, and you knew that Shadow Milk was basically embodied deceit so you barely trusted a word he said. And yet, he seemed to have a genuine interest in your safety... If not only for his own personal goals. At least, that was your reasoning as you figured that if he was the one triggering the teleports, then he'd at least be looking out for you, right? You heard him sigh. " You know, you seem to love making things more complicated for yourself, hm? Now all the others know about your existence within the seal, and that's making things more rough for you, riiight?" He drew out that 'i' sound just to tease you, but you knew there was at least some truth to what he'd said. You nodded in reply, flinching at the sharp grin he gave you. " Welll~ It turns out I have just the solution for that! If you stick with me, then you'll be safe! No more of that 'running away' business." He offered, but you knew there'd be a catch. " But! In return... You have to help me get free and back out into the world, 'kay?" You hesitated, you'd doom the world as you knew it if you let him out, right? Did the world out there even exist as you knew it now? You have no clue as to how much time has passed since you zapped yourself in here. Shadow Milk was looking at you expectantly, and you didn't want to find out what would happen to you if you rejected his offer. " O... okay, I will."

Plot: It is believed that if you make a wish during the first snowfall, it will come true. It is also believed that if you confess to someone during the first snowfall, you will be together forever.
Pairing: Choi Soobin x Gn!Reader
Warnings: A couple kisses towards the end but that's it~
A/n: This is my first time writing for Soobin (and TXT) I hope you like it!
Words: 1.9k
Tumblr media
You stared up at the cloudy sky as the cold sank into your bones. Part of you regretted choosing to walk home from the restaurant, but a bigger part of you was glad. Solely due to the man walking beside you.
When you had left the restaurant, not wanting to stay for drinks, you whispered to Kai that you'd walk, since it was only a fifteen minute walk back to your house through the nearby park.
You didn't get very far down the road before Soobin was running after you, insisting he walk you back home.
His offer wasn't rejected, and you even felt a little giddy as you continued to walk together. Soobin was always kind to you, almost unnecessarily so. You hoped it meant he had feelings for you, just as you had for him, but you didn't know for certain. The two of you were close, but maybe it was just you hoping for something that wasn't really there, maybe he was just nice.
As you made your way into the park, you noticed the glances he kept throwing you, and you felt a little more nervous every time. You kept waiting for him to say something, but he remained silent.
As something bright caught your eye, you looked out in the distance and noticed bright lights shining out into the sky.
"Oh, look at that!" You called out, causing Soobin to halt and look where you pointed.
He stepped beside you as you turned to watch the lights.
"Must be a lightshow."
You nodded as you continued to watch as various colors shined up into the sky. "Too bad it's not closer."
Soobin looked over at you and felt his chest grow warm at the soft smile on your face. He was happy that he decided to walk you home. And grateful to Kai who had told him you were walking.
Every time Soobin had time alone with you, he always hoped for the same thing. The courage, or perfect moment to tell you how he felt about you. But one of two things always seemed to happen. One, he chickened out for a little too long and lost the chance. Or two, someone or something would interrupt the moment.
Now that he stood beside you, just the two of you again, maybe he finally had the perfect moment.
Feeling Soobin's gaze on you again, you looked over, obviously catching him by surprises as he seemed to jolt from the sudden eye contact.
Soobin kept eye contact with you as he built up courage in his head. Just as he was about to speak your eyes suddenly darted from his to something just between the two of you.
Soobin spotted what you saw and watched as the snowflake slowly drifted to the ground.
As you looked up, Soobin followed your line of sight, as the two of you watched the white flakes appear above you and float down from the darkened sky.
Soobin glanced back to you and felt his heart skip at the sight of your excited grin. As you caught his eyes again his breath caught in his throat.
"The first snow!" You said happily as you looked back up at the sky, the snow slowly becoming heavier each moment.
Soobin's smile widened as he watched you, enjoying the joy and excitement radiating off of you as you slowly spun around, looking around as the snow began slowly caking the ground around you.
"You should make a wish."
You turned back to face with with a smile, "Oh yeah!"
Clasping your hands together as you closed your eyes Soobin let out a soft endearing chuckle as you hummed, concentrating hard.
He watched as you muttered something he couldn't hear before you tilted your head up an remained sill for a moment.
It was hard to think of a wish when you could feel Soobin's eyes burning into you. Since he seemed to be the only thing on your mind, you decided you might as well wish now for something you had wished for a dozen times.
"I wish for Soobin to return my feelings, and love me in return."
It was childish, cheesy and maybe a bit stupid, but it was what you wanted. You adored Soobin, and loved everything about him, you had for what felt like forever, even possibly from the moment you met. He was perfect to you, and everything you could want in someone to love. Maybe the wish was more desperate than anything, but it was still your wish.
When Soobin could tell you were thinking deeply about your wish, he closed his eyes and tilted his head up to the sky, just as you had.
"I wish to be with Y/n forever."
He wanted you to have feelings for him, to want to date him, to want to be with him. But if you didn't share his feelings, he still hoped he could be by your side forever. Even if it had to be just as friends. He could never see his life without you in it, and he didn't want to.
As your eyes fluttered open, you saw Soobin opening his own at the same time. You smiled at each other as you let out a soft giggle. Looking around at the snow again, you suddenly felt a chill as the temperature began to drop.
Soobin noticed this, and as much as he wanted to stay here with you, he didn't want you to get sick.
"Come on." He muttered softly, and you nodded as you began walking beside him, continuing through the park.
As the two of you walked, Soobin purposefully stood closer to you than before, his arm gently brushing yours as the two of you walked together. His eyes scanned the park, before catching on a couple laughing and talking together as they headed through the park.
They were holding hands as they walked, and Soobin suddenly felt a sense of envy wash over him. Sparing a glance at you, he noticed that you had been watching them too.
Clearing his throat, he spoke softly, the confidence he hoped to portray falling flat as his toe came out more reserved.
"You know... it's believed that if you confess to someone during the first snow you'll be together forever."
Your heart raced at his words as you looked up at him, seeing him glance at the cute couple you had been watching a moment ago.
You couldn't help but wonder if they were the sole reason that thought came to his mind, or if he was thinking of something else, or someone else.
You smiled as your face grew warm. "That's a beautiful thought."
Soobin grinned at this as he nodded, hoping that somehow, you knew what he wanted to do, where this was leading. Fearing he may catch you so off guard you would reject him.
"Do you believe it? That couples will stay together forever after a confession during the first snow?" You asked after a moment.
Soobin looked over at you, feeling his heart race faster by the moment.
"Like you said, it's a beautiful thought. So I would like too."
You nodded as you smiled softly, "Me too."
Soobin suddenly stopped in his tracks, and you turned to look back at him with a confused look. He was staring at you, a much more intense gaze on his face than before, and you felt your chest clench tightly.
"Should we test it?"
You stared at him in silence as you tried to keep control of your racing heart. Was he joking? Was he serious?
"W-what?"
Stepping closer, he swallowed nervously and stepped even closer, stopping as he stared down into your face, his chest almost brushing yours.
"Should we test it?" He repeated, his voice more confident.
You opened your mouth to reply, but found no words. Soobin smiled softly at your bewilderment as he reached up an brushed some snow from your hat.
"I want too. With you."
"With me?" Your voice was just above a whisper.
He nodded, "I like you Y/n. So much that it hurts. So much that anytime you aren't around I feel like I'm missing a part of myself. I want to be with you as much as I can."
Soobin gently took your hand in his as he squeezed it softly.
"I want to be by your side forever. Even if you don't love me, or can't love me, I still want to be here, right here."
"Soobin-" You muttered, before your voice stopped as you wracked your brain for what to say.
Soobin stared at you, waiting for you to continue, his heart racing, and his chest growing tighter as the moment of silence dragged on.
"I want to be with you too."
Soobin let out a shuddered breath in relief as you finally spoke, his smile growing wider at your words.
You smiled up at him as you continued. "I had convinced myself my feelings were one sided."
Soobin shook his head, expressing once more he truly did feel the same.
You squeezed his hand as you briefly pressed your face into his chest out of bashfulness. He chuckled joyfully at the action as he rested his hand on the back of your head.
Looking back up at him you grinned. "I really like you Soobin, I have for so long."
Grinning, he suddenly pulled you into a hug as he embraced you, squeezing you tightly as joy and relief erupted through him.
He rested his head on top of yours for a moment as he held you, letting the emotions flow through him freely.
You muttered softly into his chest, "So we're gonna test it?"
Soobin smiled, "Yeah we are. And I think we'll prove it right."
You pulled away and looked into his eyes, "You really want to be with me forever?"
He stared into your eyes softly as he nodded, before bringing his hands to your face. "I really do."
You grinned at each other as a mutual pull seemed to form between you. You glanced at each others lips before slowly inching forward tentatively.
Pausing just as your lips brushed, your eyes met as if to confirm you wanted the same thing. When no reservation was shown, your lips met slowly, the touch soft yet cold due to the cold night embracing you.
Soobin slowly deepened the kiss as his hand drifted to your waist to keep you close. You gently gripped the collar of his coat as you leaned into his touch.
When the two of you broke the kiss a few moments later, you stared into each others eyes before smiles slowly formed on your faces.
You chuckled and he furrowed his brow, "What?"
He caressed your cheek as you continued to grin at him. "I just didn't expect my wish to come true so soon."
Soobin felt his heart clench as he pressed his forehead against yours, his smile growing wide. "Seems like we had similar wishes then."
"Yeah?"
He nodded, "But, mine's a little ongoing."
"How so?"
He hummed, "I can't tell you, otherwise it wont come true."
You glared playfully before you giggled. "Alright, don't tell me. But I'll make it come true, whatever it is."
Quickly pressing another kiss to your lips, he grinned, "You promise?"
You nodded confidently, "I promise."

Idk if this makes sense but thoughts on ceo Kai parker with assistant reader???
are you ready for my longest response to an ask yet? because here it is...
so i'm currently working on a bonkai with a workplace AU that i've admittedly forgotten about that was requested in october. but working on that gave me inspo for this... and then i took it in a whole 'nother direction
fluff & smut below!
this could go 2 ways (or it could include both)
we've got the one where he's super sweet on her.
or we have him teasing & being super sexual until she gives in.
we also have possibilities for the reader to be more shy or more confident, and that majorly changes things.
kai will be kai no matter what, but there will be variation in how he reacts to her.
if she's more shy, i think he'd be a lot more teasing with her. gentle, bc he doesn't want to scare her off, but definitely pushes sometimes.
if she's more confident, he would be taken aback (and definitely turned on) from that. he recognizes that she won't take shit from anyone & respects that about her.
with the shy reader, her co-workers sometimes do try to take advantage of her, but he snaps back at them & checks on her after.
shy reader
he instantly has a liking towards you.
you're quiet and respectful, but do your job well.
you do things in a timely manner & treat others appropriately.
going above and beyond to make his job easier.
kai, at first, doesn't want to overstep your boundaries.
he's gentle towards you & thankful for your hard work. is very appreciative.
calls you names like "darling," and "sweetheart," or even "peach," that always make you blush.
he means it as innocently as you receive it.
… at first.
with time, feelings grow.
you both push them down to maintain a professional work environment, and even go as far as to deny they are there at all.
there's talk in the office, but no one is bold enough to mention it. plus, there's no proof of anything between you guys.
hold on, i have a side story for this, since it's december, and this just sounds so cute to me.
okay so kai has a holiday party he has to attend, but no one close enough in his life to bring as a plus one.
his mother demands he brings someone, and if he doesn't, she'll set him up with her best friend's daughter.
kai doesn't want to get stuck in that awkward situation, so right before break, he asks a huge, huge favor of you.
"i'm, uh, not quite sure how to ask this, y/n, but i have a huge favor to ask of you."
"anything you need."
"it's okay to say no, i completely understand if you don't want to, it's totally your choice."
you giggle, closing your eyes, and his heart races. "i'm sure it's fine."
he grimaces, "would you mind accompanying me as my plus one to a holiday party? it's on the 23rd and local, only about thirty minutes away. it's just between friends and family, but if i don't have a plus one, my mother will set me up…. i just… actually, this is, i shouldn't have asked. i'm sorry, y/n."
you're surprised at first, a little confused, but not ready to reject the offer. your boss begins to ramble about how inappropriate it was of him to ask, and while he may be right, you don't want him to be in such a situation with his mother. you know how family can be.
"sure, i'll go with you."
"i'm- wait, what?"
"if the offer still stands, i'll be happy to go."
he stops. "you're positive?"
"just give me the time and place."
kai does more than that. when he tells you the dress code (relatively fancy), he offers to buy you a dress, but you say you already have one. he then picks you up at your apartment and immediately compliments the dress you wear. he notices your eyes, and how well your makeup compliments their color. his eyes linger on your lips, bold with a shade of red. he tries not to look at your body, but sneaks a glance that you totally catch.
he insists on driving you to the event, and gives you a rundown on the attendees on the way. those in his family who are crazy and that you should avoid, those to whom he's closest, those who have a weak understanding of personal space, and those who will not come within six feet of an unknown person. he tells you about his favorite cousin and the questions he may ask. he prepares a speech about you being his assistant, and not a girlfriend. you practice this speech together, bouncing off one another, about when you started, what you do, and how appreciative he is of your help.
you expect his mother to be stern and strict, but when you meet her, she turns out to be a very sweet lady, despite her high expectations for her family.
she's clearly not convinced that you're a work friend / assistant and not his girlfriend, and no one in his family is convinced, either.
he takes you around the house, introducing you to the necessary people, but never lingers in any one group for long. he knows you're shy and this must be difficult.
after you finish introductions, he pulls you into the garage to check on you.
"doing alright, darling? i know my family is huge. just take a moment to breathe."
you're thankful for this, and hold his hands while taking deep breaths.
after you settle, he promises food and brings you to the snack table.
there's no judgement about how much you eat; no one comments about you eating too much or too little.
alcohol is offered, and you grab a drink only to calm your nerves. he drinks one to "tolerate family" but promises it won't affect his driving later that night. promises, right there, to keep you safe. you believe him completely.
after snacking for a while (and being thankful it's not a sit down dinner), you go back to talking with his family.
you sit on the couch with a couple aunts as one plays a piano. to your left, kai talks to one of his nephews, no older than six, and your heart warms at the sight.
one of his aunts enters and comments he's next to have kids, then looks at you.
the two of you erupt into your "coworkers, not dating" spiel, and she scoffs with a roll of her eyes. "could've fooled me."
neither of you look at each other after that for a moment. you turn back to the conversation you were in, but his nephew runs off, leaving him alone.
kai watches you talk to his family. all those buried feelings rise to the surface and his throat dries. he takes a second look at how beautiful you are. your smile, despite however tired you must feel, respectfully never falters. your small fingers grasp your cup, once filled with a festive party drink, now with coffee as the end of the night draws near. your dress fits your frame perfectly, and your heels match the exact shade of your dress.
several members of his family catch him staring. his nephew whispers something about love in his ear. he hushes the child quickly, but his tinted cheeks give him away.
kai isn't the only one caught staring, though. his mother watched you visibly sigh at the sight of him with his nephew, a smile tugging on your lips. his father saw the way you relaxed when he brought you away to the kitchen, checking on you a second time. his cousin heard the stutter when you told him kai was just your boss and that there was nothing going on between you two.
when the party isn't filled with talking and laughter, the silence is filled with lingering stares. bated breaths and twinkling eyes. the urge to cross the line between a boss and his assistant.
you disappear for a couple minutes to help his mother clean up after the party. kai talks with his father about "business" but you wonder if that's really the topic.
his mother is nosy, but polite about it. she asks about work and asks if he treats you well on the clock. you reply that he certainly does, and that you're grateful to have a boss that cares about you like he does.
she then double-checks that you're not really dating, and doesn't miss the cloud of sadness in your eyes when you insist that you are not.
she then tells you he's been single for a while because trust doesn't come easy to him. she mentions the blueness of his eyes. how it's been a bright, baby blue all night; a stark contrast to the gray tinted blue she's grown used to seeing. she doesn't elaborate the reasoning, but you don't need her to to know what she's hinting.
by the time you leave the party, most of his relatives have grown comfortable enough with you to hug. the six-feet apart one gives a wave. his mother's hug is the tightest; his father gives a firm handshake, but then draws you in for his own hug. his nieces and nephews attach to your legs and make you promise to see them again. you agree, not wanting to break their little hearts.
it's dark by the time you begin to drive home, and it has been for a while.
kai wants to hold your hand in the center console. he refrains. you rest your elbow there, hands close, but not touching.
you rehash the night, speaking highly of his family. he checks up on you a third time to make sure you're not overwhelmed, but to your own surprise, you feel okay. happy, even.
he apologizes for anything his aunts or mother might've said, but you promise every conversation was good.
eventually, the mention of the various comments came up. a count of how many times you had to tell people you were just friends, co-workers, and not dating. you share a laugh over it, but the walls are down already. whatever feelings had been buried have now resurfaced. kai internally curses himself, afraid of your reaction.
your mouth opens to say something, and his throat goes dry again. his heart would break if you are uncomfortable by it all.
"thanks for the invite, but i think i should transfer," he fears, "we shouldn't work together any more".
instead, you turn to him. "thank you for the invite. i had a good time."
"thank you for accompanying me."
it's silent for the last couple minutes, then he walks you to the door of your apartment. he stands outside, forcing words out of his throat while you stand in front of him, bathed in the gorgeous warm glow of your porch light.
"thank you again. i'm glad my mother didn't scare you off. it would've been so boring without you. see you at work."
you nod, "see you at work," but then as he turns to leave, you can't bear to let him go. you reach out to grab his coat and he turns. you make up an excuse about his scarf not being straight, though that doesn't really matter, and in the next second, you pull on it gently to bring him closer to you.
his eyes dart down to the grip on the wool between your fingers, and then to your face. you wear an expression equal of shyness and determination. he translates it into the consent he needs to cup your face in his hands and press his lips to yours.
warmth travels throughout both your bodies immediately. the kiss deepens to you pulling his coat closer, his steps forward, backing you into the wall behind you. he kicks your door shut and your hands bury into his hair.
kai's hands start to feel your body, but then he breaks it off. he doesn't want you to think he's only wanting you sexually. he wants something real. he's wanted it for ages.
he admits this. you shyly, admit you feel the same.
but while sex is put on pause, kai locks his car and you invite him in. you share a glass of wine and spend the night talking, growing closer.
the next day at work, it's hard to hide your blushing faces and giddy attitudes. all of your co-workers know immediately, but they also saw it coming for a long time. a couple congratulate you, some ignore the lovesickness like it's a disease, but no one makes a fuss.
maybe kai will be the next in his family to have kids after all. you're certain you've found something good with him, and you're determined to keep it.
now, onto a different path where i could take this idea… get ready, because this is a complete 180 degrees from the previous little bit.
ceo kai with a respectful yet confident assistant.
something is definitely brewing between these two. there are feelings to be felt. …even if neither of you recognize them yet.
kai is incredibly protective over you. you are his assistant, and if anyone needs your help, they must ask him first.
he doesn't want you being overworked or taken advantage of.
you also defend him when co-workers talk shit.
"i don't know why boss is making us do this stupid shit," someone complained once, "it's not like it matters, it's extra work."
"it's in your best interest to complete the task assigned to you. it'll make your job ten times easier when quarterlies roll around."
the coworker rolls her eyes, but kai, who could hear from his open-door office, smiles to himself. he's glad you see the tasks he assigns have purpose, and is grateful for you to try and help others to see that.
there are rumors going around that you sleep together, but he shuts them down immediately.
it's not even on your minds to have a relationship outside of work.
until that one night where he asked you to stay late to help him finish something.
you had seemingly hundreds of paper stacks to grow through, and he was on phone call after phone call.
he ordered food at some point for the two of you, wanting to take care of you since he was needing your help.
you're always eager to help, and even though it's a lot of work, promise to help until the job is done.
when it happened, it was an accident. a complete and total accident.
kai had been watching you sort through papers for too long and didn't even notice he was growing hard until he had to shift.
you looked so beautiful from where he was sitting. hair, once neatly tied up in a bun, now messily falling around your face. your shirt sunk further down every time you stretched to grab something on the other side of the table, exposing your chest a little more each time. your heels were kicked off to the side, and one foot was tucked under your lap.
earlier, he had asked you to enter the room whenever his phone went off to come and take notes.
on your way in, you accidentally make eye contact with the bulge that formed underneath the table.
that phone call is a particularly difficult one to focus on.
after it, you try to shuffle out of the room to give him privacy, but he knows you know and asks you to stay so he can apologize.
he accidentally gives tmi and talks about how it's been so long, and being there with you, looking so beautiful, got him worked up.
instead of shying away, you offer to help rid him of the problem.
not a lot of words are spoken, but somehow you find yourself giving him a bj under the desk.
he's so focused on your doe eyes and the shape of your lips and the way your mouth feels on him. your hands grasp his length & squeeze with the perfect amount of pressure. you jerk off what you can't fit. a string of drool connects your lip to his cock when you pull off for just a moment to admire him. his hands dig in your hair and urge you on, but he doesn't push. never pushes.
quiet moans escape his lips between praises, but you ask him to be louder for you, craving to hear the sounds he's holding back.
getting him off earlier than he expected, and you swallow it before it can hit the floor and leave evidence.
he then pulls you up on the desk, welcomes a kiss, and then moves down to taste you.
feelings he held back & feelings you didn't know you had come bursting out of the floodgates, making for an emotional experience combined with pent-up sexual desire.
supports your back as you come down from your orgasmic high, and fucks you on the desk as soon as his refractory period is over.
has impressive sex drive and says he spent most of his early twenties studying to prove himself.
now reaps the rewards with not only a high-up position, but a perfect assistant.
no motivation for work afterwards. enjoy the rest of your takeout and then he makes sure you get home safely.
the next couple days are awkward until he finally requests you to his office to talk about it.
this talk includes feelings that you had time, by now, to mull over. you both share them and find you feel the same thing for each other.
decide to try a hand at a relationship, starting slowly and keeping it on the down low (minus HR).
grow more comfortable with it & it blossoms into something good & healthy for you both.
now, a handful of smutty office scenarios to shuffle through. i can certainly expand on any of these upon request ;) (or i might anyway)
fooling around after hours. him laying you down across the desk or over top of it. having you on his lap while he answers phone calls.
blowing him under the desk when he's trying to focus on an important call.
sending him dirty texts or nudes from the bathroom when you're both supposed to be working.
itching for your lunch break to come already so he can finally have his way with you.
maybe even being so bold to snap the blinds shut, slap a hand over your mouth, and take you during work hours bc you wouldn't stop teasing. your co-workers all know exactly what's happening, but have lost the will to care.
retrieving him coffee but accidentally spilling it in his lap & trying to dry it with a thin paper towel.
wearing short skirts or low tops on purpose for him.
accidentally sending him a nude that was meant for a tinder date & having to talk about it the next day.
brushing past him on your way back to your seat & getting a little too close - on purpose or on accident.
rubbing your foot on him under the desk whenever you sit across from him.
and that's all i have for now! i'm deeply considering making that holiday party a one-shot, maybe, or taking these other scenarios and expanding on them. i also have way more ideas for this topic but made myself stop because i'm pretty sure this response hit 3k words.

▰ synopsis: soobin is given the responsibility of babysitting his nephew for the first time, and it’s going well but once his nephew is finally down for a nap, soobin decides to leave the other guys in charge so he can go to the store really quick. of course, as soon as he leaves, the baby (he’s actually four years old) wakes up. and txt is struggling… (don’t worry, they are trying their best!)
a/n: enjoy this word vomit :^) or not…
“Yo, whose kid is this?!” Beomgyu hollered over the cries of the toddler, who simply sobbed and rubbed his eyes with small fists.
“Beomgyu, hush! It’s Soobin’s sister’s kid!” Yeonjun answered dismissively. They all had registered crying from their leader’s room during the middle of a Super Smash Bros game in their living room; Soobin had told them he had some errands to run and to stay quiet since the child was finally napping. Too absorbed in their game, hardly anyone actually registered his words. And now that they were all standing around the weeping child, they regretted not having kept their mouths shut earlier.
“Oh, so you mean his nephew?” He asked and Yeonjun groaned, focusing on bickering with his younger before Taehyun clapped his hands loudly between them. That easily made them jump and return their focus to the matter at hand. He still cried and cried.
Kai crept in the room with heaps of his plushies in his hands, in attempts to see if anyone of them caught his eye and he’d calm down. But, it didn’t work. He continued crying and looking around at the men in front of him, perhaps horribly confused and scared and… dramatic, but that was neither here nor there.
“Why is he acting like he’s never seen us before?” Beomgyu wondered and plopped his butt on the corner of the bed, already normalized the issue. Taehyun chuckled.
“Because he hasn’t. Only we’ve seen him. He’s never met us actually,” the second youngest sighed. “You’d think Soobin would have at least let us meet him before he left us with him…”
Kai came to kneel on the edge of the bed near where Beomgyu sat, still set on offering each and every one of his many plushies — that he was okay with sharing. There were certainly exclusions… None worked. With every plushie that was rejected, Kai’s face transformed more and more into distraught panic. The child only shook his head and wailed, wiping his cheeks.
“Alright, nothing’s working!” Yeonjun whined, palming his cheeks with panic. “What do we do… what do we do… I’m good with entertaining kids, not with crying ones…” he whined a loud whine, emphasizing his state of worry.
“Soobin won’t pick up his phone, ugh. I’m gonna kill him when he gets back…” Beomgyu commented and placing it beside him with a pout on his face. That made the nephew cry a little louder. Taehyun came a little closer to the side of the bed, waving his hands reassuringly.
“No, he was just kidding! He was kidding! Look, he’s silly, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Yeonjun turned to him and dropping his voice to a whisper. “Do something silly. Goofy. Funny, please, hurry.”
Beomgyu eyed around at the ceiling, worried expression taking his features over. “Ah, oh my gosh, I don’t know what to do…”
Taehyun sighed.
“You do something silly all the time without warrant, are you serious right now?”
“You people are making me nervous. Haven’t we normalized stage fright…”
“For performances and recordings, yes! But, this is a child we’re talking about!”
“A crying child, might I add. It’s different!”
“How?! If anything it should be easier!”
Beomgyu sighed with his entire body.
“Why don’t you try it then! You’re the oldest, shouldn’t you have some kind of fatherly power since you’re a senior basically…”
Yeonjun’s eye twitched at that, fingers twitching to make a choke gesture.
“Oh, I’m gonna — ”
“No, come on guys. Please. This is gonna be too violent for the kid. Even for me.” Kai pleaded quietly, now holding his mass of plushies like one giant one and leaning his cheek on it.
“Wait, actually… try doing it. I just wanna see something.” Taehyun suggested methodologically, jutting his bottom lip out like an experimenter.
Yeonjun and Beomgyu stared at each other before the eldest shrugged with a smirk, “well, alright. If you insist…”
He gripped onto the back of the younger’s neck and shook his head, making Beomgyu let out a choked screechy laugh. The child’s loud wails subdued and came to a slow halt, his little mouth twitching slightly upwards. Round, dark eyes blinked in stupor at the cartoonish movements of Yeonjun’s havoc on his younger, who only let out even funnier sounds.
They all gasped, Yeonjun letting go. Beomgyu whined, feeling on the back of his neck.
Without warning, the eldest went in to do it again, earning a hilariously loud scream, and instantly, a wet giggle rang through the air, making them all pause and smile in realization.
The next few minutes were spent hitting each other or roughing each other up — within reason, of course — though for some, it seemed as if they were letting out steam that they’d been holding in.
From sniffles to joyous laughter and even applause, the guys could only smile, feeling rewarded for their hard work, and everything was working fine until one wrong move wrecked everything. It wasn’t even their fault since suddenly, like a switch, the nephew grew bored and began to weep again in an instant.
“What did you guys do?” Taehyun asked with a sigh, standing from above the youngest from when they had been wrestling on the floor to which the others began to argue. It was a loud multilayered bubble of sound: accusations on top of other accusations with wails flowing from the center.
It was getting too much, the little boy even doubling over to yawn in between his cries, and Yeonjun just decided to give up and resort to the last measure he thought would never work.
With a big pout, Yeonjun reached forward and enveloped the boy completely in a warm hug, pressed against his chest, and to everyone’s surprise, it slowed down the waterfall, steadying the tides of endless sobs. Yeonjun even sat back on the couch and fixed him better so his little chubby cheek was on the eldest’s broad shoulder. He ran a soothing hand up and down his back in motions that soon quieted the cries entirely. Everyone simply watched in amazement. Rocking back and forth, Yeonjun cooed and hushed in songlike steps, voice down to a whisper by the time the little boy had shut his eyes all the way in slumber.
Yeonjun sighed in relief, snuggling into the child, as if he himself was just as tired as the boy he was holding.
So as not to risk any noise, the others decided to lay down either on the sofas or on the mess of plushies on the floor. One by one, everyone dozed off with the child, complete serenity in the dorms finally back.
With such peace and quiet, Soobin eventually returned — an hour later, quietly grumbling to himself about his phone’s dead battery before looking up to the sight before him. He could only blink in wonder until his heart grew so full his eyes did just the same with tender, endeared tears. He sighed with how sweet everyone looked, throwing a few blankets around the sleeping bodies around him.
Soobin gently took his nephew into his arms, placing the blanket on Yeonjun, and placing another on him and the child in his arms.
If this was meant to happen every time his nephew came over, he was beginning to think his sister should entrust him with this all the time. Anything for peace and quiet, the leader thought to himself, before officially succumbing to the late afternoon nap.

Pairing : Huening Kai x reader
Words : 2.5k
Genre : highschool au, fluff
Warnings : kissing, angst if you squint
Synopsis : your adoring relationship with Huening Kai lacks a very important factor.
Tumblr media
The main thing that anyone would expect with a romantic relationship, is the closeness. Not of just of the hearts but the bodies too, close proximity, warm touches and comfortable embrace with the person you love so much.
But it was odd why that wasn't the case with you and your boyfriend.
You look up at your bedroom ceiling, snuggling a Molang plushie, the plushie that was a gift by the person you wanted to hold so bad instead of it. But it does the job for now.
You get up, sighing to look at the shoujo manga that was flipped over. You took a pause from your night reading time, getting caught up in your own thoughts.
"Gosh why am I reading this when I have a boyfriend of my own!" You screamed in frustration tossing the poor book on the carpetted floor. You blush, embarrassed at your own little tantrum and burry your face into the soft white plush.
You look up in determination, deciding to end your lonely suffering, you grab your phone which was sitting on the bedside table.
And immediately you went to call the specific contact ID of..
"Hyuka♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ ⊂)"
A few seconds of ringing later, he picks up. You gasp, slightly surprised because it wasn't really the best timing for a phonecall.
"Hello?"
It's a mere normal response, but his voice making you already feel giddy by just that. JUST THAT!
"Hey Kai... you're not asleep yet?"
"Hmm I was going to, but you called so.... Did you need anything?"
"No I don't need anything I just..." Your heart races and you bit your lip, unable to confess how much you missed him, to the point you were driving insane.
"Hey? You there?"
"Yes! Actually...I do need something"
"Oh? What is it?"
"You"
He was silent for a full 30 seconds or so, you could only hear his breathing, making you lose patience.
"Oh.."
"Well, I miss you too" and he chuckled, making your cheeks heat up, and a smile pulled at your lips.
"You do? Really?"
"Yeah of course... I'm always thinking about you"
"Gosh you...so you don't mind if we talk for a while?"
"Not at all! I would really love to"
"Alright then...huening, can you move to the window?"
"Okay" you hear rustling and you also, get up on your knees and lean towards your bedside window, resting your elbows on the window sill.
"The stars are so pretty during this time of the year" you smile wider, looking up at the magnificent distribution of glittery dots across the dark night sky.
"I see it, it is indeed very beautiful" he said as he does the same in his own room, staring up at the starry sky. you hum to him in response.
"Not as beautiful as you though.." he suddenly said, making you blink twice, face immediately flushing with heat.
"I- wha- me- uh- um- but- huh?!" You could only blabber as a complete natural response.
He laughs "Aw, I wish I could see the look on your face right now! I bet it's super pink and adorable"
You take in deep breaths, trying to compose yourself from all his sweet compliments that let your mind run haywire.
"Hueningie...I want to see your face too..."
"Oh? Should we switch to video call?"
"Ah...no no, we'll see each other tomorrow at school anyways. Meaning we should probably sleep now." You reject the tempting offer.
"Alright then, good night, my uh honey?" He said, feeling a bit shy about using that nickname.
"Bye, Sweet dreams honey.." you use the same to show that you liked it. After that it was a whole minute of silence because the both of you hesitated to hang up.
You flop on your bed, now screaming into your pillow, kicking your feet on the mattress out of frustration.
Frustration of how loving Huening kai would be the death of you.
The next morning was all normal, you got ready for school and everything was going fine until, it was even better when you saw your boyfriend, of course heading in the same direction as you.
"Hyuka! Good morning!" You wave to him cheerily and he reciprocates the same energy.
"Good morning! Shall we walk to school together?"
You laugh "Is that even a question?"
You both walk side by side with your shoulders occasionly bumping into each other. It was peaceful, rather it should be, but you could not get one thought out of your mind.
"Why doesn't he just hold my hand?! We're dating for god's sake!"
Although you were also very much responsible for the absolute lack of skinship in your two week relationship with Huening Kai as much as he is, but shouldn't the guy in the relationship be all bold and cool and lift his girl off of the ground in a swift move, making her flustered?!
And just by that idea you were already flustered. You get so shy and panicky, which was to you, reason enough to not make a move on Huening kai.
Your gushing thoughts were interrupted by feeling a light brush of Hueningkai's fingers on yours. Your heart immediately jumping out at the slightest bit of contact. You turn your head to look at him.
He had his lips pursed and eyes fully concentrated down on the spot where both of your hands hung next to each other as you walk.
Your eyes lit up, realising that Kai had the same thought as you! This gave you the much needed boldness and encouragement to grasp his awaiting hand and intertwine your fingers with his, holding it tightly.
Kai stiffened for only a second, surprised at your action but also delighted which immediately brings a smile to his blushing face.
You're overjoyed at the feeling too. His hand is much bigger and warmer than yours which made it so comfortable to hold it. You never ever wanted to let go of this new and wonderful feeling.
But eventually when you reached the school entrance and stopped by the lockers, you had to. Very unfortunately.
The school day went on, average and boring as usual. Fourth period was a free one. Which gave your classmates some ideas.
Everyone gathered around one desk to play Spin the Bottle. Now generally you aren't the most participative in such type of games or activities but since you were bored and didn't want to feel left out, you joined the circle. Your friends and Huening kai were playing anyways too so you thought, why not?
The game began, loud and full of energy, making you laugh a couple of times at your classmates' antics. Countless of teasing and noises on every round.
Shy teens made cheek kisses, and bold ones full on started to make out, leaving the crowd well impressed.
As the game went on, and on about the 6th round, you felt anxiety course through your spine when you noticed the one end of the bottle, pointing to you. Nervously you lift your eyes to look at the other end, the other person the bottle stopped on.
You felt relief wash over you, when you realise it stopped on Huening Kai. He's your boyfriend so it should be easy to kiss him.
Right?
You looked at his face, expression is so shocked you're starting to feel offended. His eyes are practically popping out of his skull. You watch his reaction as he swallows down a lump in his throat, cheeks turning pink.
"Oooohh! The class couple! Put on a show!"
"Booo! That's too easy! Re-spin! re-spin!"
"Aw shiiippp!"
"Laaaame!"
"Make out! make out!"
Your yelling classmates started to deafen on your ear because all you could focus on Hueningkai. You're going crazy to know, what's going behind that confused pretty head of his?
"Come here Kai. Give me a kiss" You say rather boldly and cheers and whoops burst between the crowd.
Everyone reacted in a positive way at your proposition, of course everyone except Hueningkai.
He looked away, averting his gaze. "I can't..." He mumbled.
And all you could react to that was a scoff to hide the fact that you were on the verge of bursting out in tears.
Still, you couldn't take it anymore so you rushed out the classroom, leaving behind more dissapointed noises and a "wait!" from a very sad and guilty boyfriend.
You run, unsure of where to go, you run out the school,  finally making a stop to catch your breath in front of some of the cherry blossom trees that surrounded the building.
You can hear loud footsteps approach you. You make an obvious assumption as to who they might belong to, so you refuse to turn around. And prepare to make a run for it, again.
But he won't let you get away, so he grabs your wrist and pulls you around by your shoulder to forcibly turn you around to face him.
You only realise you're crying when Huening Kai brings a finger to your face, to brush off a teardrop from your cheek. You look up at him, as he's breathless but his eyes show determination and yet they're scared too.
You blink away more tears, pushing his hand off you.
"I'm so sorry. Listen to me, I can explain-"
"What's there to explain Kai? Actually I really don't get it. What did you want when you confessed your feelings for me? What do you expect in a relationship? That we just send hearts at the end of every text message and that's it? Because that is not what I want. I want to touch you Huening Kai. I want to hold hands all the time, I want to hug, I want to cuddle, I want to kiss you all over your face and especially on your lips. Because I'm so attracted to you! But are you even attracted to me?! I don't understand it at all Kai! I just want to be able to touch the boy I love if I want to! But if that's not something you want then- hmmpf-!"
Your endless rambling was interrupted by a soft pair of lips crashing into yours. Your eyes widen so big, and your heart beat rapidly increasing.
It lasted only for a moment, before he pulled away with the slightest smirk pulling at his lips.
"I... what?" You were dazed, unable to compute what just happened.
"I'm sorry. I really am, but it isn't true what you're thinking of me. I love you so much and I'm so attracted to you, to the point that I don't think I'll be able to control myself whenever I'm around you. You're so cute, I just want to squeeze the life out of you. But I tried my best to always resist such feelings because I was nervous, I was stupidly scared that you didn't actually like me, that you just accepted my feelings out of pity and that's why I didn't dare do anything because I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable ever. But that's not true at all and instead I ended up hurting you even more, I'm really sorry for that. Back there in the classroom, I'm sorry for rejecting you I would never reject the girl I love so much. it was only because, I didn't want our first kiss to be part of a silly game, I want it to be special because that's what you deserve. I don't know how you'll forgive me for my dumb mistakes but I want you to know how much I deeply love and treasure you and I really do find you the most beautiful person alive."
He responded to your ramble, with a ramble of his own. But his words were so genuine and so real, you felt butterflies fluttering in your belly and your heart ached as you felt your love for him grow stronger in this moment itself. His reasoning made sense, almost making you feel embarrassed for having such conflicting feelings when you should be happy for being so lucky to find a boyfriend like Huening Kai.
"Kai... you're so- ugh! I'm sorry I just-" He immediately hugs you, taking all of your body in his arms and burrying your face in his chest. You sigh into that warm feeling you've desired so much.
"Don't you dare apologise! Please just let me know if everything is okay now right? that you believe me?"
You look up at him with a smile "Yes, it's okay, never been better, I believe you Kai and I love you"
His smile was so wide he was practically beaming. "Then I hope it's okay...if I do this.." Huening kai took your chin in his fingers, slightly tilting his head and leaning down to meet your lips again.
You sigh into the kiss, at the wonderful contact, this time the kiss being slow and deep, lips brushing against each other perfectly and you felt sparks fly. His lips were so soft and sweet, it was almost unreal. Your bodies pull in closer to one another, his hand firmly at your waist and your hand moving up slowly to tangle your fingers in his soft hair.
You pulled apart for merely a second, feeling so giddy so you placed more kisses leaving smacking sounds on his lips and the entirety of his face. His lips and cheeks were unbelievably red and so were yours.
Your heart was so full, you ended up giggling because of all the overwhelming emotions bubbling up inside of you.
"You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that!"
"Me too" He said and placed another peck at your lips.
Suddenly loud claps and hooting sounds could be heard from a distance. The two of you pull apart from each other, eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you both turn around together to look up at the source of the sound.
And it was your entire class watching and applauding from the first floor of your classroom window. Everyone was crowding, sticking their heads out to apparently watch the very intimate scene between you and your boyfriend that was very entertaining to them, judging from their wide grins and cheers that you can spot from the given distance.
Huening and you just look at each other, bursting out in laughter at the funny situation. It was a little embarrassing but it couldn't beat your happiness of the moment.
After that incident you did not know what you had in store for the Kai Kamal Huening boyfriend experience.
Aka, clingiest boyfriend in the whole world.
Huening kai does not just hold your hand when you walk together, no. He's joint to you by the hip wrapping you around in his arm everytime you walk next to him.
He's constantly surprising you with back hugs or by covering your eyes from behind, to the point it's not even a surprise anymore but you will never question it because of how much you enjoy it.
If none of your parents are home, he'll immediately pop up at your house and vice versa which was one of your favourite times together. You'd make plans to study or play games together but all that is thrown out the window once you're in his arms, resulting in fluffy cuddles on the bed or couch.
Kisses are endless, the two you would make any and every excuse to kiss each other, whether it be on the hand, cheeks, forehead and lips. But you still get super flustered when he sometimes places them on your neck.
Even your mostly supportive classmates were now fed up with the over-bearing amount of PDA. They gave you two the title of "cheesier than cheese itself"
But you couldn't be happier to have and love this wonderful, soft, clingy and cuddly boyfriend of yours!
A/n : Thank you so much for reading so far! I hope you enjoyed this short fic! I'm fairly new at this so comments, critisism and feedback are highly appreciated! ( ◜‿◝ )♡

huening kai x reader
note: super fluffy || i literally just thought of this rn and i thought it was like the cutest scenario ever. [if you’re having a bad day or week or whatever it might be just know that you’re doing great regardless of the outcomes & that i’m here cheering you on!! hope you enjoy this fic and lmk wut u think ^_^]
Tumblr media
god was it the worst day like ever... to start, your alarm didn’t go off so not only did you have like no time to get ready for the day but you didn’t get to have any breakfast either. you felt awful, you could still feel the weight of the whole week on your shoulders. usually your weekends were relaxing and restful but your boss had sent back the reports that you turned in and basically told you that she wanted you to redo them all. so now your precious sunday would be spent in your office, all alone. your whole week had been so busy that you didn’t get to do any house work or spend any time with your boyfriend, huening kai. you had told him about everything going on and how you just felt terrible. he had comforted you then and he planned to spend the whole day with you today. but that’s when your boss asked you to fix your reports, and just like that you had ruined his plans too… by the time you finished and got back home it was around 6 pm, your whole day spent at work, how nice. there was still so much that you needed to get done at home so it’s not like you’d even get to relax either.
you took a deep breath before putting in the key to unlock your house, calming yourself down before entering. you knew that anything would set you off right now and the absolute last thing you would want is to take it all out on huening kai. you finally went in and he called out to you, “y/n?” he said from the living room. “mhm,” you hummed, holding it all together. but still you could feel the sting in your eyes and the ache in your head. he approached you and placed the softest kiss to your lips, for a second you felt peace then it all rushed back. “come on, let’s watch a movie,” he said, taking hold of your hand so gently that you were almost convinced. “no baby, i have a lot of stuff to do right now,” you said, feeling bad that you had to reject his offer. “don’t worry about none of that i took care of it,” he said, a sweet smile on his face. “but there was so much to do… how could you possibly-,” you started, shaking your head and pinching the bridge of your nose. he took the hand from your face and held both of your hands to his lips and kissed them. “i washed our clothes, folded it, and put it up just where you like it.” kiss. “i washed all the dishes and wiped the counters.” kiss. “i made the bed and cleaned up your desk.” kiss. “i found your grocery list on the fridge and i went to buy everything we needed.” kiss. “i cleaned our bathroom and organized everything how you like it too.” kiss. “and i ordered your favorite for dinner, which should be getting here soo-,” he stumbled when you suddenly wrapped your arms around his waist and buried your face into his chest. he laughed at your initial response but it was cut short when he felt you trembling against him. he took his hands and put them on either side of your face to get a good look at you. “what’s wrong? why’re you crying?” he asked, a concerned pout on his face. “how could i ever deserve you,” you cried, “all i’ve done this whole week is ruin things.” he wiped at your tears with his thumbs and placed a kiss on your forehead. “you didn’t ruin a thing. you were having a bad week, that’s all. you did all you could and that was amazing as is,” he said, hugging you again tightly. you looked up at him for a second before leaning in to his lips, kissing him with every emotion he had made you feel. he kissed you back immediately, and you ran your fingers through his hair before he pulled away slightly. “y/n i love you more than anything… please tell me you’re feeling better,” he said, a hopeful glint in his caring eyes. “yes, i’m feeling so much better now,” you say, the both of you then laying down comfortably on the couch. “kai, thank you for everything, it really really means a lot that you’d do all this,” you said, as you laid against him, chest to chest. “of course, angel, you do so much for me that it’s the least i can do,” he said, rubbing your back. and finally you got to spend the rest of your weekend the way you wanted to, tangled up with the person who loves you the most.

ch. lviii - association gathering
wooyoung × reader, ??? × reader
in a school filled with the affluent, it would only make sense for birds of a feather to flock. but what if your new status doesn't immediately buy you a way into said flock? what if instead, it bought you sure rejection? to the rich and powerful, having different masks is a must. despite some people knowing your true self and your secrets
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hotel was very luxurious. You stared at the hotel ballroom entrance where the Business Association Gathering was being held and you could feel your palms getting sweaty. Though the door was merely ten feet away, it felt as if you needed to journey out there to enter the room.
"(y/n),"
You turned your head to the side to see Kai popping on your side, a worried look on his face. He was wearing a very fancy maroon Valentino jacket and slacks combo with a black mesh top inside, hair slicked back completed with what you can only assume is genuine crocodile leather Armani shoes. Poor croc.
Trying to shake your nerves, you shook your head and offered him a tight-lipped smile, "I'm okay Kai, don't worry," you assured. Beomgyu popped up from behind him with an arm around the younger's shoulder, "This is a foolproof plan, alright? Worst thing that could happen is us getting kicked out quietly," he grinned. Despite wearing a Brunello Cucinelli suit with an unbuttoned shirt inside, he still looked very boyish. One can only assume it's the grin he sported.
Soobin, Yeonjun, and Taehyun soon emerged, having just dropped their cars with the valet. Just from the way they were standing idly, they stood out amongst the already rich crowd. Donning Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, and Stefano Ricci, their looks are comparable to runway models. Not to mention their towering heights which made you feel even smaller than you already were next to them. Both physically and mentally. It didn't help that the whole time Yeonjun dressed you, he kept spewing old money brand. In all honesty, you can only remember a few and that's one of the reasons Yeonjun put you in Chanel instead.
"We should just get this over with," you grumbled. To the unassuming, you might seem like you're just tired of attending fancy business gatherings but you knew damn well that the nerves were getting to you. You let your pettiness get over your head, feeling like you need to prove something to the people around you (namely your brother Mingyu and maybe Wooyoung) or something.
Yeonjun stepped in front of you, blocking you from entering. "Look, we can call this off if you really don't wanna go, it's completely fine. We could just go to an arcade or something," he stated. You raised an eyebrow at him and motioned to all of you, "Dressed like this?" you scoffed, thinking that he was kidding. But he shrugged at you, "Wouldn't be the first time and definitely not the last," he smirked.
Soobin walked to your side to gently rest an arm on your shoulder, catching your attention, "Point is, whatever you decide to do, we're gonna be here with you, okay? We got your back always," he smiled reassuringly. "Unless when we're peeing," Beomgyu blurted out, causing the others to groan at the broken sincerity of the moment. Though it made you laugh as he kept it lighthearted, so you were glad he said it.
Feeling determined, you nodded firmly, "Okay, yeah you guys are right, I just- I need to do this and I'm gonna fucking do it."
You tucked your hands on the arms of Soobin and Kai who offered them to you before walking with your gaze zeroing in on the door.
The pressure of wanting this plan to succeed was there. But oddly enough, you felt nothing but excitement. Usually, before doing anything big (or anything at all), you'd feel this pit in your stomach, a sinking feeling that turns you into nothing but a ball of anxiety. Sure, you've trained yourself enough to power through, mind over body type of thing. But this time, right then and there, you felt confident. Sure, it was nerve-wrecking and the idea of you getting kicked out or even get your ass handed back to you by your parents with an audience watching was more than scary. When you involuntarily squeezed Kai and Soobin's arms out of nervousness, they responded by putting their hands over you and tapped it twice as a sign of comfort. That was when you realized that you didn't turn into a ball of anxiety because this time, you were damn sure that you have people to support you.
So when Beomgyu and Taehyun opened the door to the ballroom that caused people to look at the six of you, you were confident enough to simply smile at them.
You had expected your arrival to be like the movies. People staring in awe, parting as you and your friends make a straight line to your parents. But it didn't happen like that. Sure, people were staring and whispering, but it wasn't anything dramatic.
As you made your way to your parents, you failed to notice a pair of eyes that followed along your form.
Wooyoung couldn't help but stare at how regal you looked. In all the years he knew you, he had never seen you look so out of reach. He admired how your outfit seemed to compliment your curves and it seemed like it was giving you confidence. Whether the outfit boosted your confidence or your attitude elevated your outfit, he couldn't really tell. But one thing's for sure, it made his heart ache.
His eyes soon travelled to your five companions. Of course, someone as attention-stealing as you would be escorted by people who look like they just stepped off Paris Fashion Week. The sight made his grip on the glass he was holding deadly. His mouth felt dry and as much as he wanted to run over and push them all off of you, he couldn't.
"Is that (y/n)?" Seonghwa asked after he blinked rapidly to make sure that his eyes weren't messing with him. Or that his eyes were messed up. Yunho turned from watching the other side of the room after hearing what Seonghwa said. "(y/n)?? (y/n)'s here??" he frantically looked around until his eyes saw you. You looked very different in the best way he could ever mean to say. But his soft gaze turned to glare when he saw Soobin next to you, grinning happily as Huening Kai said something to you that made you look down at your feet. You could've been holding in laughter but Yunho's bitter mind convinced himself that you were ashamed to be seen with those boys. Before he could realize what he was doing, Yunho had fished his phone out to take a picture of you while Seonghwa and Wooyoung were busy staring at you.
"What the fuck is she doing with those five?" Seonghwa scoffed, "Has her standards really dropped that low?" Although it was a rhetorical question, Wooyoung blurted out an answer before he could stop himself. "Her standards were always THAT low, why did you think no one liked her and we had to take pity on her?" Wooyoung said bitterly. Seonghwa completely skipped over the fact that Wooyoung was being bitter and laughed at what his friend said.
Meanwhile, after managing to hold your laughter in after Kai pointed out that one specific man looked like an Asian version of Mr. Dursley, you stopped in front of your parents who despite the surprise, managed to keep their composure.
"Mom, Dad," you greeted with the sweetest smile you could muster, "I hope I'm not too late." Your dad smiled at you and shook his head, "Not at all, dear. I had hoped that you would arrive before my speech," he said, completely following your act.
The person your dad was talking with interrupted, "Mr. Kim, is this your daughter?" he asked, looking between you and your parents. "Yes, yes, she is my youngest," your dad introduced. You reached your right hand from around Kai's arm and held it out for the man, "Nice to meet you Mr. Uhm. My name is (y/n) and these are my friends, I'd have to say I'm a big fan," you confidently said. The man's eyes widened and he hesitantly shook your hand, "I'm sorry dear, have we been introduced before?" he asked, unsure. You shook your head as you let your hands free and cross them in front of your body, "No, sir, I can assure you we haven't. This is actually my first time attending such events as previously, I was too busy with school work. But I am fully aware of your work revolutionizing industries with Solar Panel Plant and I must say, people don't talk about its significant just enough." Hearing you, the man's expression lifted as he became as your parents stared at you in utter shock. Taehyun and Beomgyu looked at each other in complete shock as well as they weren't completely aware of your prowess.
"My, my, you know your stuff, young lady," the man chuckled. "Oh no, sir, please, you're too kind. I'm an International Business student at Prestige Academy along with my friend Kai here and we are simply used to talking about current events," "I see... Are you all International Business majors?" he asked, very intrigued with the six of you. "No, only Kai and I. Soobin here is a Science major, Yeonjun is in Fashion Business, Beomgyu is in music, and Taehyun here is in opera," you explained, pointing to each of your friends who bowed slightly at the mention of their names. "Oh, dear, you must come speak with some of my colleagues here, we can use the opinions of young minds like you. Mind you, these gatherings, while they're very extravagant and exclusive, should've allowed us to be more interactive with the next generation. Mr. Kim, you don't mind me borrowing your daughter and her friends, would you?" he asked your dad. Of course, your dad shook his head and smiled at the man, letting you and your friends go with him.
As the man excitedly talked about his interest in expanding to biochemicals and Soobin told him about his mom's work, you all followed along to wherever it was he was taking you six. Yeonjun slipped to your side to take your hand in his. He lightly squeezed it with a proud smirk on his face, "I knew you could do it," he said smugly. You furrowed your eyebrows at him in confusion, "What are you talking about? We still have a long night," and he shook his head at that, "I'm not talking about attending this event entirely. I was talking about you taking charge and being confident. I knew you had it in you, you just need the right push," he said. You nudged him slightly in a teasing manner, "Are you trying to take credit for my success?" You asked jokingly. Yeonjun rolled his eyes and chuckled, "Hey, Kai started this wanting to become your friend and supporting you thing, you have him to thank. I just like pushing people and see if they fall," he snarked. You elbowed him lightly in the rib but it didn't hurt him whatsoever judging from the way his chest rumbled with laughter.
The night went smoothly. You and your friends managed to mingle with a lot of people who seemed to catch wind of the youngsters who are fun to have business talks with. Your initial worry of failing your plan was immediately forgotten once you got comfortable. Sure, you were in your element, talking about interesting things with interesting people. But the presence of familiar people next to you, which are your friends, allowed you to unlock your confident side.
You were so caught up in socializing that you became completely unaware of the gaze that Wooyoung had been giving you the whole night. For the first time ever, Wooyoung felt inferior in your presence. What made things worse are you were nowhere near him and you still managed to affect him so much. Scratch that, the worst thing is seeing you looking so happy in a place you claimed you never want to find yourself in with the people he hates most that seemed to be able to bring out the best side of you.
It hurt him to admit.
But he could've been that person.
He should've been that person.
In reality however, he was never that person despite the many opportunities. He had always kept your best side to himself.
His selfishness took its victim.
And sadly, it was himself.

I had this thought recently have toddler mina waking up small one day and walks into the rest of toddler twice (besides 2yeon because they are CGs) watching happy feet on the tv without and she gets really sad because after all thats like her movie, but after cuddles from 2yeon and promises of penguin drawings from toddler chae mina calms down and rewatches the whole movie with her penguin stuffy and blanket
Hello Chimp, so far everything is going alright for me but I definitely do understand the feeling of being late to an exam so I do feel bad for you.

Warnings: self doubt?
Happy feet
All of the girls, except Mina, were either in the kitchen preparing snacks or sat on the couch in the living room for a movie day. "What do you girls want to watch?" Jeongyeon asked, the girls thought for a while before Momo gave her suggestion to the group "Monsters Inc!" She exclaimed cheerfully.
"No way Momo, just 'cause you wook like Boo doesn't mean I have to watch the one eyed fwog" Sana immediately rejected Momo's idea and shook her head for added effect. "Mike Wa... Waz... Whatever his name is isn't a fwog he's a monster as the movies name is Monsters Inc". Momo retaliated, putting emphasis on the name of the movie.
"Wha 'bout Happy feet? Mina said it's her favorite movie." Jihyo asked which immediately stopped Momo and Sana arguing, Jihyo's suggestion was actually met with many 'Oooos' and agreements. "Alright then Happy feet it is then" Nayeon quickly put the movie on before anyone could complain or change their mind.
In a couple of rooms away Mina had only just woken up from her rest, she had felt particularly small after a dream she had. She shuffled towards the living room with her loyal companion tucked under her arms, it was a penguin toy she called 'Ray' after her pet dog, but when she reached the living room she saw that the rest of them were watching Happy feet without her. They all knew that it was her go to movie choice. So why are they watching it without her? Are they doing it to purposely exclude her?
Countless thoughts swarmed Mina's mind until it became too much for her to handle and she burst out crying. Nayeon and Jeongyeon both immediately heard Mina crying and they ran to where she was so they could deal with her. As for the other girls, well all except Chaeyoung, were fully distracted by the movie, Chaeyoung actually walked over to where her Mommy and Mama went because it wasn't normal for them to run off halfway through a movie.
Nayeon wrapped her arms around Mina to offer some comfort to the girl who was now sobbing into her shoulder. "Hey baby it's alright everything is going to be okay" Jeongyeon consoled her and gently rubbed Mina's back. After a few minutes Mina had calmed down but Chaeyoung never left except getting a blanket for Mina on her own accord, which Nayeon and Jeongyeon thanked her and called her a great sister.
"Do you want to tell us why you're so sad Mina?" Nayeon questioned the little in a soft tone. Mina nodded but she didn't talk since words were too much for her at the moment, so she just pointed at the television and then herself. Nayeon and Jeongyeon looked at each other in confusion but Chaeyoung actually understood what Mina was trying to get across. "Mommy I think Mimi is sad that Happy feet was put on 'cause she wasn't here" Chaeyoung looked at Mina to see if she was correct, thankfully she was correct because Mina nodded her head again.
"Oh we're sorry, Mina, but it was suggested that we should watch it because it was your favorite movie" Jeongyeon mentioned before continuing "However, we can watch it from the beginning just for you." This made Mina jump in happiness and nod her head rapidly. "Yeah and I'm sure Chaeng will happily draw some penguins for you" Nayeon added on which made Chaeyoung's eyes light up in glee "Yes I'll draw them fow you Mimi!"
Chaeyoung dragged Mina over to the couch and sat next to her before grabbing the art pad she had next to her "Hewe's some I drew alweady. But I'll do more and... And I'll add you to it Mimi!" Chaeyoung rambled on whilst Mina smiled at the drawings of the penguins. She then handed the art pad back to Chaeyoung who immediately went back to drawing many varieties of penguins plus Mina in the center with Ray, her penguin plushie.
Nayeon and Jeongyeon quickly joined back and wrapped the blanket Chaeyoung had grabbed around Mina, before Jeongyeon took the remote control and rewinded the movie back to the start. A few whines and complaints came from the other girls other than two the first one was Dahyun who now noticed Mina in the room. "Hey, hey Mimi wook at what I am!" Dahyun tapped Mina's arm and started waddling around the room like a penguin, which made Mina giggle loudly. The other person was Tzuyu but that was only because she was occupied with finding the best chocolate from the candy bowl.
"Girls don't complain, you wouldn't like it if we watched your favorite movie without you and didn't wind it back" Nayeon explained Momo, Sana and Jihyo nodded their heads in agreement and understanding. Both Nayeon and Jeongyeon were glad that the girls understood why they decided to rewind the movie all the way back to the beginning. Dahyun had stopped when she heard the movie start again, she moved out of the way so Mina could watch the movie.
Mina was now fully relaxed as she watched Happy Feet with everyone, except at different points of the movie Chaeyoung gently patted her shoulder to show the penguins she drew. Mina always looked at them in shock and awe as she thought that Chaengie was super talented. Mina still had her best friend next to her, aka Ray, along with being completely covered with the blanket. Surprisingly, none of the other girls took the blanket or decided to make Mina share the blanket with them.
I hope that you all have a great day/night/afternoon. Remember to take a break if you need to, don't stress yourself out.

pride and prejudice (07): happy together.
summary — if loneliness hits in waves, then you’re drowning in the middle of this party.
genre&tags — written chapter, approx. 3k words, angst, sunghoon being a lil sus, y/n being a mopey loser, allusions to social anxiety, general uni student debauchery, an abundance of wong kar-wai praise, and a rejected apology
warning(s) — swearing, alcohol consumption
a/n — this is so all over the place but idc anymore bc i’m so sick of staring at google docs
Tumblr media
“Acceptable, Hoon?” In the lobby of your building, this glass-and-marble behemoth, you twirl for your friend, all dolled-up in a tiny, stringy halter and your cleanest pair of Doc Martens. Scrubbed of your battlescars from this past hellish week of exams, the process devoured almost 4 hours of your Saturday, left your room ravaged with crumpled piles of clothing haphazardly thrown on the floor — but you’ve come out looking more-than-decent and that’s still a win in your book.
Towering over you, Sunghoon is quiet, car keys hanging from his hand and eyes raking over your figure. Then, a little winded in a low murmur, “Are you wearing lip gloss? You never wear lip gloss.”
Shrugging, sheepish, you grin something cheeky, “I mean, why not, right? It’s a party. Not like we go to these kinds of things often.”
“Right.” A sharp nod. He’s still got on that murky stare. “It is and we don’t.”
In the distant background, Wonyoung honks an interruption, impatient in the passenger’s seat of her twin’s reliable ol’ Jag. Its engine purrs, steady and solid, from the vintage vehicle’s parked spot on the curb. The first blizzard of the winter season has ceased, settling into a calm night, lampposts lighting the icy asphalt street outside. “Oppa’s not done primping, but he should be down soon. In the meantime — what do you think?”
“I think…” Lips pursed, the boy offers zero flattery. “You should take my jacket. It’s bound to get freezing in that scrap of black cloth you call a top.”
“Wow. Can’t even fake a you-look-nice?”
“Just take it.” Sunghoon presses, tone clipped, thrusting the bulky leather thing into your hands.
You sigh — “Fine. Whatever.” — and accept, sliding into the oversized garment. “Too big. My outfit’s not seen anymore.”
Flicking your forehead, he says, dry and expectant, “That’s kind of the point, princess.”
A half-hour’s worth of Doja Cat later (courtesy of Sunghoon) and your tight-knit group pulls up to the snow-sunk driveway of the Beta Thi Sigma frat. There’s some 90’s RnB spilling out from the booming structure, its Grecian columns lit by the red-and-green of several, suspended Christmas lights. Sloshed students — wrapped up in their coats, sporting an array of Santa hats and antler headbands — teeter up-and-down the steps to the front door. They part, however, somewhat lucid, at the sight of your brother rushing through with his corduroy cover-up and hair swept back. He’s got an agenda, it seems, and it goes by the name of Kai.
The twins, meanwhile, take their time, undeterred by the horde of curious eyes following their every move. Wonyoung struts ahead in a knit Chanel number, glistening from the attention, as Sunghoon shuts the car door behind him, all cool and casual with his hand secure on your back. Inside, the atmosphere is sticky with heat and vice. It’s sensory overload for someone like yourself — bodies packed together, draped in tinsel but awash in tints of wine, swaying in slow-motion to the beat of the music. Wonyoung in the lead, your little trio passes by mistletoed corners in search of cleaner air.
The twins end up camped out near the house’s fireplace, marking it as their territory, and you follow suit. Poised and nonchalant, they keep to themselves yet are still, somehow, magnets for returning rounds of strangers. It’s disconcerting, mostly because you were wholly unaware of how in-demand the Parks had apparently become, even as freshmen — and stuck-up ones at that. A 2-for-1 package of popularity, you fourth-wheel all their conversations: your hands are empty when they’re greeted with Asahis from some senior named Jeon Jungkook and you get gawked at by Yu Karina, who sits behind you in English, when she reports the latest goss to the pair like their self-appointed secretary. There’s nothing lonelier than being demoted to mere audience member, so much so that it almost makes you laugh, like you’re a ghost in your own life.
Somewhere, concealed in your heart but pulsating through your body, is the anxious urge to escape to what’s familiar — to Uber home, dig out your rattiest Champion sweater, and drown in the embrace of a piping-hot bowl of wagyu ram-don — but it’s lambasted by the disapproving tone of Taehyun’s voice, ringing through your head like he’s your goddamned conscience and telling you that you need to ‘put yourself out there’. He’s right — of course, he is — and you hate him for that, but, God, you still can’t help but wish he were here now, not on some G650 jet out to the Amalfi Coast but stationed beside you through it all.
Sunghoon’s hand loosening from its spot on your side and Wonyoung occupied by whatever inane rumor Karina’s intent on spreading hot-off-the-press, you make your exit with a pitiful lack of notice. Through the red maze of rooms, you find yourself lost, disoriented. Your grip tight on your cell, you type out an agitated text to your missing brother, send the distress signal rapid-fire. But with no end destination in sight and nobody to cling onto for saving, everything’s suddenly too much, too loud, all happening in chaotic blurs. It takes you back to that night at the Bulldog, and you’re reminded of why you never attend these sort of things.
Really, you want to be fun and you want to be perky, the kind of girl who’s so goddamned painless to be around, no question — just easy and laid-back and enjoying the mess as if all’s good and well in the world. The kind who knocks down beers like it’s no one’s business, always knows what to say plus when to say it, leaves her heart out on her sleeve and gets rewarded for it. A cool girl, an effortless one. Instead — you’re difficult and you’re harsh and you’re dull. You’ve lived like this forever now, inside your little cage, built out of self-preservation. And you’re safe, it’s true, but disappear and it’d make no difference.
So, in an empty bathroom off the back porch, you take shelter, pathetically sober. Sat on the lid of the toilet, you rest your head between your knees, check for a response from Soobin only to be met with nothing. Probably still busy with Kai, you surmise, sighing. Footsteps come and go as your breathing slows to a more measured rate. From here, locked away from everyone, the party is muffled like it’s universes away. Then, a voice, thick but low, resonates through the noise, the wall, to you: “Most people turn away at the sight of subtitles, so it’s hard to recommend, but I’m telling you — it’s hauntingly perfect. Wong Kar-Wai’s best, in my opinion.” You recognize him immediately, would know that baritone anywhere and have found it here. Reflexively, without much thought, you slam the door open, bumping into the boy stationed right outside on the damp wooden deck.
“Hey!” Beomgyu cries before turning flat and faltering. “Oh.”
Flushed and self-conscious, you stagger back, examine the scene. Steel eyes, mouth in a wary line — a stark difference from your first impression of him, annoyingly open and terrifyingly carefree. Now, Beomgyu’s a mirror image of you and it’s enough to make you shrink. Is this how you looked when you two met? Stood next to him, a girl with sharp, feline features. You place her face as another of Kai’s bandmates, Yeji. She’s less stiff but still has her arms crossed, like you’ve slighted her without your knowledge.
“Hi.” You begin, a little breathless. It comes out uncertain.
Yeji stares at Beomgyu, then you. She takes his silence as her cue, “Y/N. Hi. If you’re looking for your brother, pretty sure he’s upstairs with Kai right now.”
“Oh, um, actually, I wasn’t—” You look over at him, tight-lipped and staring at his muddy Converse, his clenched hands, the black abyss of the night sky. Everything, it seems, but you. Softer than intended, you attempt an explanation, “I just needed a breather.”
An awkward silence ensues. It makes sense, you think to yourself, because you’ve conditioned people to expect cruelty in your presence, inadvertently taught them how to treat you. This is your comeuppance.
Yeji takes pity on you, sensing your discomfort, but sighs like she really doesn't want to, “Would you want to hang back with us then? Gyu was just telling me about some arthouse director he’s big on.”
“I don’t want to intrude—”
“Who cares? It’s just more of his pretentious babbling. I was only half-listening anyway.”
At this, Beomgyu gasps in mock-hurt. “Wong Kar-Wai deserves better. Don’t be such a philistine, Ji.”
Snorting, Yeji turns to you, unconcerned, “Ever heard of that guy, Y/N?”
“Well, yes, actually — ‘Happy Together’ is my comfort movie.” There’s no tell-tale signs on Beomgyu’s face that he’s listening, yet you find yourself hoping that he is.
“There we go then. That’s literally what he was just raving about.” Yeji cocks her head, rolls her eyes. “Ugh. You cinephiles are all the same.”
You look over at Beomgyu, consider him, suddenly curious. “Oh. So what do you think of it?”
“Like I was saying before being interrupted,” Stare averted, he speaks mostly towards Yeji. “Arguably, ‘Happy Together’ is Wong’s true magnum opus. It’s got all of his signature tropes, from the over-saturation to the dizzying camera work to the unconventional narrative — but it’s distinct for the sole reason that the heartache depicted isn’t muted. Instead, it burns.”
Growing frenzied and gaining momentum, hands flitting about like birds eager to get away, he continues, “Like, that sense of yearning that he’s known for, that longing for a love that keeps slipping out of your grasp, it’s there, undeniably, just much, much uglier. In the film, Ho and Lai are rotten to each other, and they shouldn’t be together, and they both know that — but they’re stuck in a perverse cycle, in this kind of horrible purgatory, that forces them to slingshot back to one another even once they escape. When they’re with each other, it hurts, yet when they’re apart, it hurts even more. The cruelest irony of the film is the title, because Ho and Lai can never be that — can never be ‘Happy Together’. It’s fucking devasting. And that’s what makes it so good.”
It’s quiet for a moment as the entirety of Beomgyu’s manic little spiel settles into the air. Then, Yeji laughs, amused at her friend, “Okay, Jesus, I’ll watch it. How long have you been holding all of that in?”
The boy shrugs, rubs the nape of his neck, going timid. People have this sad tendency to recoil into their shells after letting their passion leak out, you realize, like it’s shameful to care this much about anything. And you try not to gawk, try not to let your gaze linger, but it stuns you — the accuracy with which Beomgyu’s vocalized your very thoughts about the film, all of which have been ruminating inside of you since your first watch. There’s an impulse to nod profusely, to shout, all ecstatic from the matchbox sparks in your stomach, “Yes, yes! Finally someone gets it.” But, instead, you tamp it down, let the words die upon your tongue. You could call it serendipity, say it’s a kind of happy accident to stumble upon someone who shares your same fondness for cinema, but he’s a film major, of course, so what do you expect?
Cutting through the moment is a persistent racket vibrating from Yeji’s pocket. Fishing her phone out, exasperated, she groans, “Fuck — it’s my dad. I’ll be back, just a sec.” Trudging into the backyard, wading through the sheet of snow-caked grass, her intonation and inflection reconstructs itself into something guttural, more provincial, as she talks into the receiver and fades into the distance.
Secluded out here, amidst the numbing breeze of winter, the population of people dwindle about, more subdued. And so, you’re left with Beomgyu, left to fend for yourself against him and his explicit dislike for you. Juxtaposed by the faint, flickering lights of the porch, he’s locked stubbornly behind layers of clothing, black hair sat stiff underneath his beanie. Grasping for something to say, you murmur, something bland enough for you to survive if he ignores it, “Cold night, huh?”
At this, Beomgyu finally faces you, pivoting to put your smaller self in his direct line of vision. You see him clearly for the first time since meeting him two weeks ago: rendered in angles only God could draw, acrid like he’s a home remedy. “Seriously?” He laughs, all spite. “With the fucking small talk?” It’s a role reversal, a karmic punishment; you know it and so does he.
“Right. You’re right. Look…” You say, cautious but deliberate, enunciating each word with the weight of your remorse. “I wanted to tell you that I’m sorry — sorry for, well, y’know, acting like a dick when we met. I was worn-out that night and it was so goddamned dank inside the bar and the enormity of the crowd was putting me on edge and, fuck, I know those aren’t excuses, but you still bore the brunt of all of it so I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve any of it, especially because you were so nice to me. And if you hate me, I get it, whatever, I understand — still, regardless, I just hope you know how much I regret everything.”
“Is that all you’ve got?” He tilts his head, eyebrow quirked and visibly unimpressed.
You don’t waver. “It’s fine if you don’t forgive me. We don’t need to be friends or anything — I just needed to get it out of my system.”
“So, basically, what you’re saying is…” A disdainful pause. “You just want to be rid of your wrongdoing. Wash it off like it’s just another stain on your designer jeans.”
“Well, no—”
“Here’s a reality check, Saint Y/N: that icky feeling you get for being a shitty person? It’s warranted because you are. You were a douchebag to me, and you were a douchebag to my friends. I was nice to you, yes, but people don’t have to be for you to treat them with decency. It’s not fucking hard.” He hacks away at your character, drills down on your flaws until he tears at your Achilles heel. You remain quiet throughout, blank-faced, digesting his vilification of you and absorbing the verbal onslaught. You’re on trial, it’s clear, and you’re all ears. “And also? I couldn’t care less if you’ve, quote, seen better, because frankly I’d rather gouge my eyes out than date someone with an unearned superiority complex. So, y’know, thanks, appreciate the apology, but seriously — get over yourself.”
Finished with his tirade, you’re forced to sit and simmer together in Beomgyu’s hostility, visceral and true, piercing through the air between you two. In place of a response, all you can do is nod mechanically, let the guilt turn over in your stomach, settle, then mushroom. “Okay.” It comes out a mere whisper.
“Okay?”
You exhale, blink away the fatigue that’s suddenly washed over you. Then, firm and understanding, “Okay. I get it. I’ll leave you alone.”
“Good.”
As you turn away to make a beeline back indoors, you’re confronted by the timely reappearance of Yeji, frost-nipped and leaving a puddle of snow where she’s planted. She scans you over, leans to look at her friend, “Everything cool here?”
“Yeah. I’m just going now. Sorry to bother you guys.” Brushing past her, your hands find their home in your pockets. Yeji calls your name, shouts something or other, but it’s all just background noise to you at this point.
When you reach the kitchen, you’re swallowed in by the swarm of sweaty bodies you’d tried so hard to flee from. Now, however, you’re too drained to give a flying fuck. No more fighting, you decide. From somewhere indiscernible, a drink is pushed into your palm, this lemony concoction that hisses on its surface but glides down your throat. You accept the evening for what it is — a glorified shitshow — and the rest of it washes over you with less struggle.
Tumblr media
Through the miniature glow of his phone, Beomgyu notes the time: 5 AM. He clicks the device off, chucks it to the side of his lumpy mattress. Snoring from the other side of their shared room is Kai, placid and passed out in last night’s clothes, sure as shit dreaming up an unperturbed life with his dimpled boytoy. Outside, the world is still dark, readying for the new day.
Swaddled by his comforter, safe against the biting cold, Beomgyu is plagued by the thought of you. Ogling at him as he rhapsodized about a film close to his heart, spouting a red-nosed and glossy-eyed apology. What a fucking weirdo. Pint-sized in that jacket, glimpses of skin shining through. Much softer than when he’d first met you. Seriously — so fucking weird. He sighs, prays for sleep to come quick. And too fucking pretty.

can i have just hcs or a scenario or whatever and it’s just. hanging out with juza. chilling, hanging out, alone and just being together. sorry it’s not specific
Boy do I love some good slice-of-life writing, especially if it's with our favorite stiff and sweet-lover actor!. Do not worry because this was so much fun to write! 💕
This can absolutely be taken as platonic or romantic. Please enjoy! 💕
Reader hanging out with Juza
“Oh, come on! That’s going to get so soggy by the time she builds the structure!” you groan in frustration at the computer, not believing what you were seeing.
Juza frowns next to you, eyes fixed on what is happening. He hasn’t said anything, but you want to believe he agrees with you. Well, as much as a non-professional baker could agree with another non-professional baker on a baking show.
“Yikes- what did you expect Julia? For real, too much licour.” You can’t help but comment out loud again as you watch the contestant try to explain to the camera their confusion after they tasted the cake base.
“…Looks yummy to me.”
Your focus on the show slips when you hear him murmur with confusion, laughing at the sincere tone of his voice. “And that’s how we know you could never be a jury. How do you see that and think- Oh no!” you two watch in horror as another contestant takes out burnt decorations from the oven. “Oooh that is so gonna cost Alex his place.”
“He was ‘kay in the signature bake tho.”
You roll your eyes at Juza's comment while adjusting a blanket you had on around tighter. “Sure but like- he’s been on thin ice the last few episodes? and this is a technical challenge! Would be totally unfair to Julia if they decide to rule her and her alcoholic cake out.”
You both keep commenting on the episode here and there until the credits begin scrolling. You sigh and let yourself flop onto Juza's arm, tired. Maybe the others were right and you were getting a little too invested in the supposedly peaceful and untroubled series... just maybe.
You reach the mouse, trying to log out from the platform as you lazily pass by the announcements of future series and films in the making. “You know, I read somewhere they just get a cake stand and some flowers if they win first place,” you mention, suddenly remembering the fact. “Wild. It’s so different from the cooking shows, with offers, dishes and all that I mean.” You feel him shrug.
“Haven’t seen many winners from those other shows later on.”
“Mmm... true.” You agree after giving it some thought, mind still replaying all the mistakes and bits that had happened in the episode. “I bet Omi-san would annihilate everyone though.” You think smugly. Seconds later your tummy rambles, making you look around the room. “Hey, do you still have anything left from the sweets you bought yesterday? I got kinda hungry after watching so many pastries.”
Juza nods, and you move enough for him to get up from the small table placed in the middle of his shared room where you two had been watching the show for almost an hour. You watch him head to his desk and come back seconds late with a big bag that makes you squeal with joy, clapping as he sits again next to you.
Once he takes some of them out and hands them you can’t help but moan in delight after the first few bites. ”Ugh, this is so good. I should have taken some with me as well.”
“You can take half of these home if ya want.”
“Nooo don’t spoil me!” you groan. Because it’s not like it’s the first time Juza has offered or shared sweets with you, but it always feels surprising to you for someone to give away something they enjoy so much so easily. He pays no notice of your rejection and pushes some more sweets to your side. “Juza!” you whine again.
"'s fine. Ya can enjoy 'em later.”
You hum, not completely happy. "Then I’ll invite you to something next time we go somewhere, I won't accept a no.”
“Ya don’t need to-.”
You immediately raise one finger, stopping him from saying anything else. “What did I just say?” you raise an eyebrow. The purple-haired actor stares at your firm gaze and nods. You laugh and shake hands with him. "Pleasure to work with you."
You two continue eating in comfortable silence for a while as you manage to pick up the noise of people walking by the hall. You try to recognize the voices in the distance: Azami, Taichi, Hisoka, Sakuya… it’s the middle of the afternoon so you imagine most of them are on their way to do their homework and the adults are most likely arriving from their jobs. You take another bite of the sweets and let yourself lie on the floor. You look at the ceiling, blanket still on stronghold. “Have you and Omi-san gone anywhere with your bikes in the end?”
“Uh? Ah, yeah. He said he knew a few roads near the mountains... We drove there last weekend.”
“I wanna see!” you exclaim sitting back up. You knew how much he had been looking forward to the trip. “Did you take any pictures?”
Juza pulls out his phone, unlocking it as you made yourself comfortable next to him, chin on his shoulder while excitedly still munching the sweets. You watch the autumn member enter the private chat he had with Omi and scroll through messages that went from university stuff, to timetables, to talks about everyday cleaning tasks and foods. “…Here.” He finally stops as he gives you his phone. “He shared some once we came back.”
“Oh my god- this place so pretty! Look at the view. Did it take you two much to get there? It looks so far from the city, I cannot see any road!”
“Kinda. We did some drivin’ between old pavements.”
Happy, you take a few more looks at the pictures; a few of the scenery, of juza looking into the distance from different angles -most likely not being aware he was the object of Omi’s camera- and give the phone back to its owner.
“I wanna go. Think you remember the way?”
“I got the area somehow... ‘Could always ask him again I guess.”
“Cool! Because we definitely need to take something to eat and go there to spend the day.”
Juza seems to like the idea too, though you think it’s mainly because he has been enjoying riding his bike at any given opportunity since he got his license.
“Are you sure you don’t wanna somethin’ more to put on?”
You blink confused and notice he’s been looking at the blanket you have been hanging on all this time. He scratches the back of his head, frowning, maybe thinking about what would be best for you to wear. “...Sakyo-san says it’s still early to put on the heating but I can look for a hoddie or somethin’.”
“Nah, I’m fine. I like to feel like a burrito.” You smile reaching for one more sweet from the bag -which you are starting to believe will be empty by the time you leave if you keep eating. You turn towards him. “You know, it’s been a while since we had time to relax by ourselves. When I come we are always with the others, but I kinda enjoy it the most when it’s us two and our favourite baking show.”
Juza ponders your words, warmth rising in his chest. Hearing those things directed towards him wasn’t the usual until he met you -He has never really been a talker after all.
As you continue to munch distracted he closes his eyes, his lips turning into a small smile. Because maybe he's a little proud to be able to give someone a happy space to relax. "...yeah."
You know he did not mean to say it out loud but you catch it nonetheless. It makes your eyes soften and ruffle his hair affectionately, obtaining a flustered yelp and questioning look from the golden-eyed actor. You laugh before changing the topic to another thing, making some more conversation. After all, neither of you had anything planned for the rest of the afternoon.
And what better way to spend time than with your favorite person?

Misappropriating Michael Corleone: toxic masculinity in The Godfather
In celebration of this glorious Pacino Saturday, I bring you this essay commission I wrote earlier this year about toxic masculinity in The Godfather with something the commissioning editor didn't get - GIFs from the wonderful Godfather / Pacino community! Enjoy.
Tumblr media
The final shot of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part II is probably my all-time favourite ending to a film. Dressed for a chilly autumn, Michael Corleone – played like one of Shakespeare’s tragic princes by Al Pacino – sits alone, wearing the ring from his long-jettisoned marriage even as his hair fades to grey, pondering the question he will be pondering for the rest of his life: was it worth it? Cinema’s most famous eyes, haunted by a thousand ghosts, stare out over a kingdom of ashes. The last of the Corleone family’s enemies is dead, but there is no Corleone family left to share in Michael’s victory. He has won – and lost everything in the process.
So I can’t get my head around the misappropriation of Michael Corleone as some sort of sigma male fantasy figurehead. How can you walk away from that final disarming fade-to-black and think, in all sincerity, now there’s a man content with his choices. I’d like to be just like him.
The Godfather trilogy is a story about how a young man with everything becomes an old man with nothing. Coppola intended it to be, as has often been said before, an allegory of American capitalism – all actions taken in pursuit of money and power have victims. To me, it’s also a story about toxic masculinity.
The phrase ‘toxic masculinity’ didn’t exist when Francis Ford Coppola made The Godfather, but it did exist when I studied the film at university more than 40 years later. Like any cinematically-minded eighteen year old who studies The Godfather, I was fascinated by it. In particular, I was interested in how the war hero at his sister’s wedding becomes the gangster who murders the man she married. What force on Earth is powerful enough to destroy a man’s soul the way Michael Corleone’s is destroyed by the end of Part II?
All three of Vito Corleone’s sons are trapped in his shadow. Their choices are dictated by a well-worn rulebook of how men should behave. By fighting heroically for his country and courting a respectable outsider (Diane Keaton’s Kay), Michael attempts to rewrite this rulebook. Initially, he is interested in performing masculinity on his own – and, arguably, lawful society’s – terms.
Tumblr media
But in the world of The Godfather, wars aren’t won by playing by society’s rules. Vito Corleone represents the pinnacle of a different kind of masculinity, one that, though it rejects the principles of law, is nonetheless built on American values: ambition, individualism, strength of mind and body, power. Michael’s campaign to ‘be his own man’ is superficial from the start. Although he wants nothing to do with the family business, he doesn’t speak out against it. He is unbothered by the story he tells Kay, of a gun, a contract, and an offer impossible to refuse. Michael is so immersed in the world into which he was born that it has become impossible for him to escape. And, I suspect, he wouldn’t escape it if he could. Michael Corleone loves his father, and all along, there is a part of him that admires the toxic ideal Vito represents.
Tumblr media
So what makes the Vito Corleone brand of masculinity so ruinous? As portrayed by two of our all-time greatest actors in a pair of stunningly charismatic performances, Vito is ruthless but fair, demanding but loyal, marble-hard to his enemies and kitten-soft to his friends. He is protector, provider, patriarch. His logic is unchallenged, his judgement unquestioned. He is everything a man in his world should be. Anything less would be a failure of manhood. Vito believes it is sloppy to let on how you’re feeling (“Never tell anybody outside the family what you’re thinking”), unmanly to show emotions (“You can act like a man!”, roared at his mopey godson, Jonny Fontaine), weak to let your guard down (“Women and children can afford to be careless but not men”). Although none of them are capable of living up to the ideal established by Vito, the Corleone boys are expected to live by this hard-and-fast guide to masculinity. One by one, they die by it.
Tumblr media
Toxic masculinity manifests differently in each of Vito Corleone’s three sons, and it destroys each of them in a different way. Broad-shouldered in his wifebeater, James Caan’s Sonny is a textbook man’s man, and he acts as he believes a man should. A rough-and-tumble action-man, Sonny is a dominant hand at the helm of the good ship Corleone while his father is in hospital. He rises to the challenge Vito has set for him. He becomes the protector, the provider, the patriarch. When it comes to defending the family, he is as ruthless as his father has taught him to be. And it is that instinct to protect, that assumption of a power inherited, those toxic learned behaviours, that get him killed on the causeway, falling for a trap that would never have fooled his father.
Tumblr media
Sliding down to the other end of the spectrum, John Cazale’s Fredo is about as far from a masculine stereotype as you can get. But he isn’t free from the burden of its expectations. It is precisely Fredo’s exclusion from the Corleone ideal of masculinity that traps him in its toxic web. From the moment he is born sickly, Fredo is told that he is weak and stupid and unworthy of the Corleone name. His mother tells him that he must’ve been left on the doorstep by gypsies, so far removed is Fredo from the masculine ideal represented by his father. But he isn’t weak and he isn’t stupid and he does deserve to be a part of this family that has left him behind. So, fighting for some ounce of the respect that he, as a man in the Corleone mould, is owed, Fredo fights back. He is killed for his masculine pride, for his one attempt to be as ruthless as his father wished him to be.
Tumblr media
Of all Vito Corleone’s sons, Michael is the one who takes his father’s lessons most to heart. He’s also their most tragic victim. He recalls his father’s advice (“keep your friends close but your enemies closer”), repurposes his words (“I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse”), and abides by his golden rules of masculinity: never tell anyone what you’re thinking, never reveal your emotions, and don’t be careless. He is a ready-made don-in-waiting, rotten to the core with inherited notions of toxic masculinity. His destiny in inescapable.
In our very first glimpse of him, Michael is recently returned from war. He has been decorated for bravery (in a deleted scene, Vito mocks his medals as “Christmas ribbons”). We do not know what Michael saw and did in the war, but we know it know it made him a hero. So it can’t have been anything good. He is forced to surrender his civilian life in defence of his family. While he’s in hiding for the murder of his father’s enemies, his brother is killed. His lovely young wife is blown to bits by a car bomb that was meant for him. His father dies. He is betrayed by men who have known him since he was a baby. Yet for all this grief and trauma, we never see him mourn. There is barely one scene in The Godfather or its first sequel in which Michael expresses a thought or feeling.
Tumblr media
Too often, I see this absence of expression misconstrued as an absence of emotion. To me, Michael Corleone is not a villain. He is not a stone-hearted sociopath. In fact, he’s nothing but emotion. He just has no outlets for it. He has grown up in an environment where sharing feelings and expressing emotions is seen as weakness and foolishness, something to be avoided by any self-respecting Corleone man. Without this knowledge of self-expression, or anyone he trusts enough to express himself to, the enormous amount of anger and pain inside Michael is left to bubble and boil over. He is unable to articulate his frustration to his wife, so he socks her in the face instead. Fredo’s murder is not the ruthless act of an uncaring monster, but the whim of a broken heart. Michael doesn’t know how to share his pain with Fredo, wouldn’t even know how to start a conversation about how much his betrayal hurts, so he responds in the only way he knows – with a permanent solution to a seemingly incurable ache. With a masculine instinct for action, not emotion. Michael ends up alone because he doesn’t know how to let anybody in. He lives in a world where to trust somebody is to make yourself weak. He lives in the world his father has made for him. In the end, it is the very repression of the emotions he has been taught to repress that destroys Michael.
So if it’s so terrible to be Michael Corleone, why do we end up with glorifying articles like this one from a 1995 edition of Esquire? Because the type of toxic masculinity he represents persisted in 1995, and it persists in 2022. People continue to misappropriate Michael because they continue to misinterpret his fate. The “exultant glimpse of male nature” offered to viewers of The Godfather continues to seduce some with an illusion of power, success, and victory. We are willing to overlook, then, the price of such exultant masculinity. Who needs the love and trust of your friends and family when you’ve got a big-ass house by Lake Tahoe and business interests worth millions?
Tumblr media
The truth is that the masculinity some exult is the cancer at the heart of the Corleone family – and Francis Ford Coppola knows it. Mario Puzo may have named his central family “lion heart”, but Coppola is sparing with his lionisation. By enforcing his single-minded view of a masculine ideal, Vito Corleone traps his children in a self-destructive cycle of generational violence. Coppola shows us how it consumes everything – the lives of women, children, and innocent people, all secondary to the glory of a Corleone man’s victory. I’m certainly not the first to suggest that The Godfather is “not a monument to male chauvinism but a condemnation of it” (Nicholas Barber for the BBC earlier this year). But for me, Coppola’s film isn’t just about how male chauvinism pervades certain times, places, and people. For me, it’s about how the very nature of toxic masculinity, how it is created and maintained. It’s about the price of buying into that illusion. For Michael Corleone, the price is everything. And for those who misappropriate him, it’s worth it.

( Synopsis ) Astra never knew procrastination would lead to the truth.

( Content Warnings ) First time writing an indifferent reader, so heads up I think I may have mixed it up. // NOT EDITED!

i.
THE FIRST TIME Astra invited you over to something was to eat supper with everyone. You blatantly rejected the offer, placing an arm-distance between the two of you. You claimed how you weren't going to sit down and listen to everyone's annoying voices again. As you passed by the woman's figure, Astra panicked a little and spoke whatever words came in her mind.
"We're going to be having Neon's Chicken Adobo, that sounds really good, yeah?"
You accepted the invite as if you didn't reject it a second ago.
Astra reserved a spot for you beside her chair, Sova's seat to your other side. But you refused and instead stole Reyna's place, sitting beside the Filipino. Sova shook his head in the corner of her eye, but Astra didn't question why. Even if you were just nodding mindlessly to Neon's rambles, showing no reaction while eating the food, you were having dinner with all of them.
She should check with you later. After she updates her journal this evening.
ii.
THE SECOND TIME Astra invited you over to something was on a lesson Sage was conducting about basic medical attention held in the infirmary. As her heals were in the physical form of a sage green orb, it was theoretically possible for somebody to be able to carry it around with them.
"The lesson's useless and a waste of my time, I'd rather learn how to stitch a wound." Half of your attention was barely on her, your eyes focused on scrolling down your phone. It was as if she was never talking to you in the first place. As if she was speaking to one of Fade's invisible prowlers or Yoru's clone.
"Phoenix accidentally blinded Raze's boombot which resulted in another explosion, another reason why Sage is teaching all of us—"
"Where are they?" Your tone changed. This time, a tint of exaggeration blended in with your monotone voice, the phone long forgotten. Astra didn't get the opportunity to answer, watching you stroll away in the direction of the infirmary.
"No need to bump into my shoulder..." Astra mumbled.
When Astra caught up with you, she peeped through the part of the window that wasn't draped with blinding white curtains. There were no emotions on your face, as usual, but the air around you was lighter. She observed you rolling bandages on Phoenix and Raze's bruises, the two surprisingly silent.
Sova was leaning against the door frame, a small quirk of his lips plastered onto his face. His hair was tied up with a hot yellow hair tie, your phone being flipped up and down his hand.
She didn't think much of it, concluding you had some sort of unspoken grudge towards her. Or you had favoritism towards Phoenix, Raze, and Sova. But what did she do wrong?
She should check with you later. After she gets her paycheck from Brimstone.
iii.
THE THIRD TIME Astra invited you over to something was defeating maxbot. A bot with a KDA that Kay/o couldn't even beat. As Sage delightfully destroyed the poor thing last time, with Killjoy's alarm bot and turret quivering in the distance, the Genius German repaired it to become ten times more difficult.
"It's recommended to beat this guy with two people minimum, yeah? Wanna team up with me to show him who the real boss is?" Astra came over to you with a grin, arm up in the air for a high-five.
You ignored her high-five, "I prefer working by myself."
Astra's face paled at the rejection. "Uh, alright then! Good luck! I'm rooting for you!"
You walked past her, not bothering to say even a thank you.
Just as you were about to enter the simulation on your own, Sova appeared by your side. He patted your arm, but Astra only deducted it as a friendly encouragement.
The conclusion changed when Sova entered the simulation with you. Killjoy, and Jett cheering for the two of you on the sidelines.
"Go lov—"
"Shhhhhhhh what Killjoy meant to say was go losers! You both better lose so that I, the amazing Jett, can win the bet, ahahahha..."
Alright, now she's looking onto the both of you. After she finishes her Netflix show.
Self-care first, drama later.
iv.
THE FOURTH TIME Astra invited you over to something was Skye's wood carving lessons. Despite the lessons being the most hated activity in Valorant, it did keep everyone's minds off their troubles. The atmosphere is always relatively peaceful, with sounds of knives sharpening and the occasional sweep of wood bits reminding everyone that they weren't in the room alone.
But just as the last promptly rejected three invites and multiple flashbacks of procrastination,
"What's the benefit of wood carving? It's not like I'll be turning that into a hobby anytime soon." Your voice didn't contrast with your eyes.
It wasn't the, "Your eyes are the windows to your soul," or "I know when you're lying just by looking into your eyes," kind of thing. They were both dead, uninterested.
Heads turn towards you and Astra, unsurprised with the scenario happening all over again.
"Alright listen up here, what's the harm with this yeah? Astra was just inviting you." Skye slung an arm over your shoulder. You pushed it off, already making your way towards the exit. "Cold much..."
"Nu-uh-uh, not so fast." Cypher blocked your way, a polaroid camera in hand. "You wouldn't want all these photos of you and Sova to be revealed to the rest of them, hmm?"
You raised an eyebrow, unamused with the man's attempts. Just like that, you teleported away.
"Tsk, Yoru must have been lurking around here, never mind. Why do I even try."
Now Astra, and everyone in the vicinity, definitely noticed how Sova placed his unfinished carvings in his arms and walked outside. Almost as if he was used to this happening. Almost as if he knew where you and Your went. Almost as if you predicted what was going to happen when you stepped into the room.
She'll look onto the both of you later.
But it's Wednesday... might as well wait for Friday. Right? Relax now regret later.
v.
THE FIFTH TIME Astra invited you over to something was Movie Night. She spammed you in multiple short one to eight-worded texts, all capitalized with emoticons in the end (because emojis were overrated.)
Star girl: HEY COME ON NOW I NEED YOUR VOTE :cc
Star girl: I DON'T WANNA WATCH ENEMIES TO LOVERS
Star girl: IM BEGGING YOU PLEASE T_T
Star girl: IT'S ALWAYS ME AGAINST...
Astra counted the people in the room.
Cypher, Jett, Killjoy, Neon, Omen, Phoenix, Raze, Yoru...
Star girl: 8 PEOPLE >:(
Star girl: HAVENT YOU HEARD THE IMPACT TWO CAN MAKE :D
Star girl: ON THE WORLD :'D
Astra cried inside her head, why did she procrastinate, now she was curious about whatever you did when you weren't in her sight. Cypher flicked over to what movie they were going to watch for the evening.
"So, what are we watching?" Neon asked, mouth full of Sour Cream popcorn.
"We're going to watch (Name) give flowers to Sova through a polaroid camera I set up in Skye's garden."
Eight heads processed what Cypher said. "What?"
Tumblr media
"Need that back" woman: HAVENT YOU HEARD THE IMPACT TWO CAN MAKE :D
"Need that back" woman: ON THE WORLD :'D
"Need that back" woman: (Name)??? :')
"Need that back" woman:
Tumblr media
"Why did you name Astra Need that back woman?"
Sova peered over your shoulder, amused with how you seen-zoned every message Astra sent this evening. His hair tickled the side of your nose lightly, making you scrunch it up a bit.
"It's because she keeps on saying that over and over in the comms during missions." You replied.
"We can always schedule another time to spend time together and watch the movie this evening? Almost everyone is out on missions so it's just the 12 of us in—"
You cut him off. "She'll be fine. It's just a movie. Tonight is about us, I can just answer her tomorrow."
You replied, shutting off your phone.
Sova tightened his hold on you a bit.
"I know how much this means to us. So, yes, tonight, it's just us existing in the world."
Sova buried his head on your shoulder, a grin crawling its way to his face. "I never knew you were a romantic one..."
"I'm not. I'm just making sure the sacrifice of your owl drone distracting Skye's hawks won't be in vain."
"But your words are more laid back now, yes?"
You said nothing, leaving the question unanswered. "Is something wrong?"
Sova asked, watching you abruptly sit up. He stood up, thinking something urgent was about to happen.
"Here." You brought out a bouquet you arranged by yourself, different flowers holding different meanings. "I wanted to give you this... as a symbol that I'll try my best in this relationship."
Tumblr media
"Awwwwww" Everyone in the room gushed over the footage the polaroid camera played.
"Disgusting."
"Hey!"
Astra clasped her hands together as Sova kissed you, both hands on each side of your face. The perfectly beautiful bouquet sandwiched between both of you.
Maybe she doesn't have to look into it anymore.
Star girl: 🥺🥺🥺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was my first time writing for an indifferent reader @codename-hiraeth so I did Sova and the reader's relationship from another person's eyes since that perspective shows the outside shell of the indifferent reader— if you get what I mean. Please tell me if there's something I should fix or if you're uncomfortable with something, but other than that I hope you liked it :3

DS9 4x16 Accession thoughts (I’m re-watching, so beware spoilers for future episodes!) [8 July ‘23]
I love how offended Julian is about how much tidying Miles hasn't done - I guess he offered to help and hadn't realised how much work he'd have to do XD
"You should have seen it before." Mood. That was always my sentence wherever mum came to pick me up from uni XD
Does Julian actually want to help? That was a sudden swing to "it's a shame to pack it all away" xD
Oh, I thought this was the plant killing episode where Keiko gets secretly possessed.
"Daddy, I have a little bother." So cute!
His gaze looking at Keiko is so gentle!
Sisko fiddling with baseball and hiding it :3
Aww, awkward Sisko
"I think I'd like it." Of course you would, Jadzia, you LOVE attention. (And being emissary would make Kira pay more attention to you..? :P)
Why does this man think he's the emissary, even before he knows he's in a future time?
The awe in Kira's voice
Nothing Sisko's quoted from the prophecies is not about him...
"All I have to worry about are the Klingons, the Dominion and the Maquis. I feel like I'm on vacation!" Oh, Sisko
"I remember when my nephew Nog..." Yes, we all know he's your nephew, Quark.
" I used to love reading to him. You know, See Brak acquire. Acquire, Brak, acquire." Hehehe.
"Oh, well I'll be sure and call you when she's ready to deliver. You can lend a hand." Julian's so earnest
"Unfortunately, I will be away from the station at that time. Far away. Visiting my parents. On Earth." Worf making several addtion's just to make sure they get the picture.
"How about a game of darts?" "Don;t you have to get home?" Huh, wasn't expecting Julian to give him up that easily.
"I don't see it as a contradiction." "I don't understand." "That's the thing about faith. If you don't have it, you can't understand it, and if you do, no explanation is necessary." This is really close to my heart as an ex-believer. I really like Kira's attitude to her faith. Idk
"Farmers have become politicians..." Ohhhh.... I'd remembered about Kira's struggle, but not what that would mean for Shakaar and their entire political system.
Kira's shaky breath and hesitation to clap.. Ohhh...
"If Bajor returns to the D'jarra system, I have no doubt that its petition to join the Federation will be rejected." "Kai Winn and I have already discussed it. We're willing to make that sacrifice in order to follow the will of the Prophets." Ugh, of course Winn's involved in this...
"You don't have to get up for me." "You're Ih'valla. I'm Te'nari." Yikes
"Maybe you never realised this, Captain, but we would've tried to do whatever you asked of us when you were Emissary, no matter how difficult it seemed. I'd better get to Ops." She's so subdued. Oh, Kira.
"An excess of neuropeptides. I can give you an inhibitor to make sure it never happens again. [Sisko nods, and Julian goes to get it.] Of course, if I do, you risk never finding out." This is like the reverse of Sisko's vision episode in Season 5
"So, any idea what they might have been trying to tell you?" I think Julian's really, genuinely curious here.
"Sure. That I have too many neuropeptides rolling around in my head." Heh, and that smile
"I suppose Julian has one too." Your wife knows you, O'Brien.
"Wanna try for twins?" "I don't think it works that way." XD
I know looking longingly at his costume shows his wish for his own free time... but it also reads a lot like longing for Julian ngl
"I'm sorry. The last thing I want to do is add to your problems, but this is something I have to do." Ohhh, she's blinking back tears as she says this, I hate this so much for her.
"I don't doubt I can find someone to fill your post.. But to replace you?" OH, HE'S CRYING TOO THESE GUYSSSS
Miles looking for Julian :3
"Chief! Excuse me!" As soon as Julian sees Miles he rushes over. It can't have been THAT LONG since you saw him??
"You and I were evenly matched" - wellll, no you weren't. That was a ruse on Julian's part. Sorry.
"Actually, I was hoping maybe-" his awkward hand gestures :3 sweetheart
I can't stop watching Julian's face in this scene. When Quark reminds him "no refunds", he looks hopefully for a second at Miles. And his expression is so sad thereafter, his laugh at Miles' joke so lacklustre. Guys, I just have feelings.
"You killed him because of his D'jarra?" "I had to." My goodness. Fricking hell. I did not remember this getting that awful!
"We have to go to the wormhole and ask the Prophets." Solid plan, actually
"I was the first!" Heh, I knew they wouldn't understand first. Not an argument you're gonna win with them
"Why did you send me into the future?" "For the Sisko." Love how the episode just says yes, this was all for Sisko's character development
"I promised I wouldn't say anything, but it's about Julian." "What about him?" "I ran into him the other day and he seemed depressed. He'd never admit it, but he really misses you." This part is MY FAV
"I'm a lucky man." The way she nods and winks <3 Keiko is a queen and I wish we saw more of her, not her-and-Miles
Julian's little smile when Keiko messages him :3
"I want you to have this. It's an original Kira Nerys. Could be verrrry valuable one day." "I hear she didn't make many." Their laughs <3
"We were wondering if there's any chance you could come and give her your blessing." Kira's glance over to him, not quite sure how he'll respond, but his genuine smile and "I'd be happy to" ❤❤
Aww, Sisko covering up his smile at the end there. I love it.

The Name of Love (and why it just so happens to be Kei)
Kaito knew he fell in love far too easily. He knew that he risked himself for people who weren't worth it over, and over again. What could he say, watching all those old rom coms as a child really built up his expectations of love.
He wanted that ‘love at first sight’ moment where he’d lock eyes with somebody across the room and time would freeze, and he’d be taken in by their eyes and- even if he didn’t quite get the magical moment he at least wanted to feel something. Helping people just came so naturally to Kaito so it never seemed to hurt to offer to go to the movies together, or perhaps even offer his phone number if he felt bold. He had to admit the constant rejection did sting though.
‘Okay, see you later,’ he’d say, ‘maybe another day then,’ or ‘oh that’s fine I forgot I was busy tonight anyway.’ And he meant it. Really, he did. Completely! Didn't bother him at all he swore. He had enough friends to get by and didn't even need any new ones.
As if anyone believed that.
Every glance he got made his heart beat just that little bit faster, thinking that maybe they're the one. That they're the one who he'll spend his life with and grow old together. It wasn't anything deep most of the time, just a surface level infatuation that faded within a week or so. And then came the next one, and then so on and so on. Why else would he keep quiet about the bullies he fought, about the bike they tried to steal. It wasn't normal to take a beating to protect the identity of a guy you barely even knew and yet Kai did that. Maybe he was just starved of attention, who could really tell anymore.
So yes, Kaito knew he fell in love too soon, but nobody could ever compare with Nagai Kei.
Something about Kei was intriguing, beyond the surface that is, and Kaito couldn't help but be drawn in by it; by him. He was stuck like the planets orbiting around the sun. Held in place by an inexplicable and unescapable force, set to stare at his brightness every single day. Kei was going to reach such high places, and reach so many people and yet Kaito was only able to get a glimpse of that life. Stuck on the borderline of the achievements Kei would inevitably reach. And he would. Reach them that is. Kei was an unstoppable force when he put his mind to something, it was one of the reasons Kaito admired him so much.
Where would Kai even be when Kei was being a doctor, out there and saving peoples' lives? It’s certainly not like he had any particular life goals in mind- or even immediate plans of what to do once school was over. He’d once dreamed of being a secret agent. Back before ‘real life’ was able to come and bring him down.
Things were so much easier when they were children. When all life amounted to was who could run the fastest, or who could catch the most bugs (it was Kai). When the only reputation someone had came from other six year olds who, quite frankly, did not have the best judgement on anything. Maybe Kai was being optimistic in saying that the world was a better place when he was a kid. Maybe it just was better. At least Kei would talk to him back then, would even look at him. Now their relationship was about as strong as those old nets they used to play around with. The ones that he had such vivid memories of them breaking that they resorted to just catching beetles with their hands.
Heartbreak was such a hard feeling to put into words he found, especially when it came so young. Kai didn't know what it was that he was feeling for quite a few years, only that anyone else he looked at couldn't quite fill the ache that was in his chest, like a distinct part of him was missing. It was again how Kai knew he fell in love too easily. What he felt when they weren't even teenagers yet shouldn't be so overwhelmingly strong. Shouldn't be keeping him awake at night thinking about the maybes or could've beens. He should have been able to move on, maybe get with someone else, maybe just spend his weeks between partners. Really showed who Kai was because he just couldn't.
It's why Kai watched on from afar. Just sitting and watching, content to at least know that Kei was safe. That he was reaching his goals without Kai’s influence to tarnish his record. The real reason he waited outside the shop each and every day was just to see Kei. To at least smile at him and be seen. On a good day he even hoped for a smile back- never let it be known that Kai was not an optimist- but each day had the same result. Being treated like a complete stranger, as if the years together didn't matter. As if Kai didn't matter. Kei's reputation was just too important to him and Kai had accepted that, accepted that he needed to be alone so Kei could fulfil his potential. Being cut out of his life had only brought Kei up and up- so really what was the harm done. (It was fine, Kai was fine. He didn't need more. Just seeing him was enough.)
(Kai lied as easily as he loved.)
This little routine of theirs had been going on for quite a while now; although it was hardly an intentional routine if one of them wasn’t even aware of it. It's partly why he was so shocked to have the policeman ask after him. The thought of being associated with Kei after so long was almost surreal at this point. Plus the fact that Kei stayed away from anything even remotely shady like it had been cursed with evil definitely added to his shock. Though nothing could prepare him for the fact that Kei was allegedly an Ajin.
His Kei? It seemed only fitting that his extraordinary friend had to exceed expectations in every sense of the word. But being an Ajin was a new level of insane. How would they even know unless he had-
Kei had.... died?
Kei had died and he hadn't been there. The one time his friend actually needed him and he wasn't even there. Couldn't even protect him when it mattered. What a shitty protector he'd turned out to be. He had to find him- he couldn't fail Kei, not again. In his panic stricken daze Kai couldn't think of anything but his friend.
What if he'd been found already? What if he'd been hurt? What if he never got to see him again? Was he being careful? Oh god what if they’re hurting him- Kai could only hope he was safe right now, and fight off the growing urge to throw up the more his thoughts spiralled.
It was all one big fucking mess and who was he kidding, Kai was completely in over his head. All of this worry, this drama over a boy who hadn't even spared him a glance in years. Hadn't given him one single thought where Kai couldn't do anything but think of him. Is this really how they turned out? If he could talk to his younger self right now he could imagine being called an idiot for even having doubts. How could he even think about turning his back on his 'cool' and 'awesome' Kei Nagai?
And the thing was, he couldn't even fathom abandoning him now.
He had full intentions to go and search for the boy himself- find him before the police could and just go from there. It wasn't his most thought out plan but anything was better than the alternative. Than Kei being taken from him.
What would he even need to take? His bike was a given of course. Torches, food (how much? Was it worth packing meals or would they not have time for that? What quicker snacks should he take then? Does it need to be eaten quietly? What about-) and then the most obvious was money. Only cash because that couldn’t be traced but what about when it ran out? What would they do then? Kai just had to keep packing his bag, there was no time for doubts now he had to get to Kei.
Kai was finally losing it. First he can't just stop thinking (gottagetoutfastgottagowhyaren'tyougoneleaveleavehurry) and now there's an incessant ringing in his head. It rings once. Twice. Three times. Kai stops what he's doing. It’s obviously his phone ringing why did he not think to check? Turning over the device resulted in his second shock of the day. A mundane existence for 17 years and then shit hits the fan within a single hour. He had hoped Kei would be in contact, sure, but it actually happening? Kei actually knowing how much he still cared and how he would do absolutely anything for him? It was about as realistic as Kei dying and being revealed as an Ajin (which was to say it was unlikely but very clearly probability meant nothing today).
Clear as day it was. 'Kei' brandished across the top of his screen flashing in the odd way that incoming calls did, accompanied even by the annoying ringtone he’d never gotten round to changing because no one called frequently enough to remind him of it. Old feelings began to resurface, bubbling up to the top even just with the chance of a conversation. It had been so long since they had spoken (too long if you asked Kai, which no one ever did).
Kai hoped this would be an opportunity to grow closer again. To build on the years old foundations after the rest of the building had crumbled to dust over time. To finally become- no. There wasn't time for that. Kai had to push his feelings aside and settle the burning ache in his chest. He needed to help. He needed to help Kei.
"Kei, I've been waiting for you."
Kai could only go along with the journey for now, to follow the only path laid out before him and hope that any pain caused along the way would be worth it. Staying by his side, by Kei's side was the only thing he knew. It was all he would continue to do, keeping his hand reached out. Right in front of him, stretched as far as it would go, pulling people up. Raising them to the heights he knew that they were capable of. Even if he was the one pulled down in the end. Any sacrifice was worth helping his friend. Anything.
Kaito knew he fell in love too easily, but nothing hurt more than being in love with Nagai Kei.

Yea sure i dont mind you posting my ask on your page. Adding to my post before, i think its also interesting how rika's response to willalex was THAT, because its true, no one really knows will bcs 1. Will himself never really opened up to anyone everything about himself except for emmy, 2. They just never cared enough to get to know him above whatever shallow perception of him that he put in front of them. I still cant stand the fact that they didnt expect will to pull that blackchurch move bcs huhhh?? Why couldnt he? Was i shocked when i read that scene? Sure, but not bcs i thought he was incompetent like how his friends thought him yk. So i dont think its really fair to blame rika or any of his friends either for the way they saw him, bcs will was also an active willing participant in these scenarios and his personality in front of them. His friends shouldnt be heavylifting his place in the family iykwim. They all should work together, not against each other (*cough* ofc they wouldnt understand shit like this in the earlier books *cough* lmaooo).
I also hate the fact that will is so babied by their friends and the dn fandom as if he wasnt one of the most white privileged guy in the town, terrorising people just bcs he was privileged enough to do so. Like this man be doing weirdest shit, recording them, and he be having EVERYTHING in this world BUT EMMY, yet people always wanna act like he was this poor victim just because in the monologue he kept on simping over em. There was really no ounce of responsibility and accountability in that man's thoughts. He kept on blaming EVERYONE (and himself to a certain extent) for all bad things happening to him, AS IF HE WASNT A WILLING PARTICIPANT HIMSELF. GOD!!!! GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck im so mad, sorry 🤣 and the fandom, with their two misagonistic braincells ofc be siding with will and be excusing him, as if for the past three books, he wasnt busy being shit to women and men around him just bcs his monologue was about how much he loves em 🤢 like bffr!!! And they hate em too, and be simping over damon, just bcs 1. She was mean to will, 2. She never came back for will. You understand what i mean with double stanrds and purity culture applied to women here? They speak AS IF will spent his time since he left her in that hallway 1. Not being mean to her, 2. Finding ways to be by her side and not fucking around girls in town right 🤣 they be saying this as if he was the poorest man in the world, when emmy was the one living opposite life of him. Even after knowing some shady shit happened to her, he STILL EXPECTED HER TO BE ACCOMMODATING TO HIM! God, name a more selfish bastard than will grayson!! Oh yeah, damon torrance, lmfaooooo!
And the fact that the horsemen and alex couldnt understand that just bcs will was a nice friend to them, doesnt mean he was a nice guy to em?! Stupid as fuck!! God! Will was there for each one of his friend, but was he ever there for em? No! So ofc they were in his life, not em (Understandable tho that he left bcs em rejected him in a degrading way) And he regretted that shit! He regretted leaving her even if she made it clear he didnt owe her anything (unlike will who was entitled to her and essily blamed her because "love" and now he can put a label and resentment to her rejection). His regret was Even mentioned during the michael's bridegroom prep, with kai offering him alcohol.
And on this note, if em can understand that just bcs aydin wasnt as shitty to em as he was to alex, then why cant alex understand that it goes the same for will to em? Alex was a hypocrite for that. Will even obvious bcs he can fuck around town (alex too), but god forbid some other men looked like they were into em, oooohhhh shes the selfish bitch? Wow! Amazing! Im glad that em called out alex every time bcs she needed that after getting her ass fanned by the cowgirls every time. We're told that alex is this girls supporting girls, but she suddenly became early hideaway banks/ corrupt rika in blackchurch? The fuck? Jealousy really changes people! Its not even ems fault, it was on aydin, she just wanted to use em as a punching bag. Coward. Em never once did that to her even after everything will said about will alex. Fuck these guys honestly. Emory scott always deserve better.
Unpopular opinion, i like aydin in blackchurch. Em needed someone like aydin at that stage of life so that mfs like will alex dont cross her boundaries too much. Em can stand for herself but sometimes her personality can blindside her and let others treat her like dogshit just because she doesnt have much love for herself yet, and she prefrrd to avoid confrontation bcs of her ptsd with martin. Im glad aydin, even in his own selfish agenda against alex, took ems side and helped her many times there, even in his own twisted ways. Ngl, if damon saw will alex be treating em like this, he wouldnt let it slide either. He wouldve beat them up and told them off so 🤷‍♀️ the horsemen and alex's fans are not gonna like what i said, but i said what i said. Im well aware of emmy's flaws and ive accepted that shes not this mary sue character a while ago, but i cant stand this fandom who always act as if shes the top 3 worst characters among them just bcs she was busy dealing with life all on her own. Were the cowgirls annoying sometimes? Sure? Was alex sometimes? Sure. But i cannot imagine disliking the girls, even alex, more than the horsemen. Like even after the girls fucked up, they always made up. yea thats all for the addition. Thank you so much for listening! Sorry thats its so long
