Logan as John (Jack) Seward, M. D. — skeptical man of science who thinks he’s all rational when he actually just has many repressed feelings.

Roman as Arthur Holmwood, Lord Godalming — he’s rich and perfect and nobility and romantic enough to get the love interest.

Patton as Lucy Westenra — sweet, caring, loved by everyone. idk.

Remus as Quincey P. Morris — listen… i don’t know. i just wanted Remus as the surprising cowboy in the english vampire novel. he likes to shoot things.

Virgil as Jonathan Harker — traumatized man who needs therapy but it’s okay because he has friends that love him. carries a knife everywhere.

Janus as Dracula — hmmm. evil. gaslight gatekeep girlboss. likes scheming even if it takes months or years for his plan to be fulfilled (or fail miserably) Virgil/Jonathan hates him and would stab him given the chance.

Bonus that i would draw if i had the patience:

Joan as Mina Harker — also loved by everyone, the actual braincell, “i am the train fiend” sounds like something joan would say, too.

Those were the big things, but I--OH MY GOD WAIT! Also, the way The Last Wish very plainly but not obnoxiously talked about toxic masculinity and how it’s good and okay to be vulnerable with other people and ask for help and be scared. Like! Oh My God!

#puss in boots #the last wish #puss in boots: the last wish #puss in boots spoilers #ngl it also... stung a little personally bc the obvious thing the whole time was like 'tell your friends that death is trying to kill you!'#and puss was having a panic attack and shit and it reminded me so much of me with my trauma and seeing my abuser everywhere #except that for me when i told my friends they didnt give a shit and left me alone with my abuser and told me that its a 'you problem'#it didnt really make me mad at the movie though it just made me pissed at my (ex)friends #its so frustrating that at a time when i needed support from the people around me those people sucked #anyway i also liked that it showed how perspective can... how for puss he was just running from death and fear #but to his friends it looked like he was running away from them #i felt that it both acknowledged that how his friends felt was valid and reasonable and also that his reaction was valid and reasonable #and that giving people second chances is good and healthy and you shouldnt cut them off after one mistake #idk i just felt this movie had a ton of nuance and talked about big emotions in a very good and productive way

The only way the soul lore works for me as a source of guilt is if vampires can choose *not* to be evil. If they're just mindless demons who take over a host's body after they die, it makes no sense to feel guilty about the actions taken after that.

The demon isn't a separate thing, the person is still who they were when they died, demons just don't have inhibitions. So whatever it is they *want*, they do. Whatever it is that is the core of that person wants most is what is exemplified most in their demon form.

So in Angel's case, the guilt comes from not only having wanted those things and having done them, but from *having had the option not to.*

#which makes him look worse when Spike starts not being a dick cause he can #after so long of having a soul Angelus KNOWS better he really really does #but he does not WANT to be better #its just that with a soul its so crushingly terrible to be any worse than hes already been #that he won't add to it #but make no mistake Angelus does not HAVE to be Like That #thats a choice #i think Angel gets a lot more interesting if we acknowledge his behavior as CHOICES #hes literally the worst fucking person #he will cause pain and suffering everywhere he goes #to everyone including himself because he's far more in love with pain #than any other character in this series #hes a tortured artist whos art is torture #stuck inside a prison cell of his own making #built out of every sin he's ever committed stacked on top of each other #thats FANTASTIC characterization #much more compelling than Well He Can't Help It #btvs angel #soul meta #btvs meta

I lurk in an extremely tiny fandom where there are 2 people providing the majority of the content, and now those people are at war with each other. Like multiple long text posts calling each other out and generally acting like children. I was thinking about reblogging some content or otherwise un-lurking but there's no way in hell I wanna be on any of these people's radar.
