hostile (spencer reid x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
summary: after months of trying to get pregnant and a miscarriage, you finally succeed. will you get the chance to tell spencer this time?
a/n: this is my first oneshot in a veryyyy long time so im sorry if im a little rusty! trying to get back into it :) also i know very little about pregnancy so forgive me! (i got the hostile uterus part from greys anatomy lmao)
wc: 2.3k
warnings/includes: lotsa fluff, angst if you squint, criminal minds stuff, pregnancy, miscarriage
-
“Spence, were you even listening in there? I have a hostile uterus. Not only am I feeling incredibly hostile right now, but my uterus?” you yelled as Spencer guided you to your car.
“All I’m suggesting is that we keep trying, Y/N. And I’ve already done plenty of research on adoption and surrogacy, did you know that 140,000 children are adopted by American families each year?” he asked, opening the passengers side door for you and running around to hop in the driver's seat. “And there's always in vitro fertilization,” he suggested as he reached to shut his door and start the car.
“Of course you wanna keep trying Spence, all you have to do is stick it in and thrust,” you huffed as he winced at your harsh wording, grabbing your hand over the center console. “I’m the one taking hormone shots in my ass and drinking less than 5 cups of coffee a day,” you complained about your attempts at increasing fertility. “Who knew a miscarriage would be the thing to get me to cut down on caffeine.”
Spencer was silent as he drove back to your shared apartment, both of your minds on your struggles to get pregnant in the past year. You thought back to your miscarriage and the impact it had on you both- it had only been a few months since you and Spencer became official. It was new, and this pregnancy was unplanned to say the least. Not telling Spencer about it was the only solution you could think of at the time- until it was too late.
You remembered the feeling in your chest, your entire body running cold after being tackled by an unsub. You hadn’t told anyone of your pregnancy, not even Spencer, but as the blood ran down your legs it was pretty clear what had just happened. Derek dragged the unsub away in handcuffs as you sat in the open back of the ambulance, a paramedic wrapping your wrist. You barely remembered JJ’s look of pity or Rossi’s concerned gaze. The only thing you remembered was the pale face of your boyfriend as you had been lying on the ground moments before trying to hide the blood. He eventually made his way over to sit next to you after a few minutes of stunned silence.
“Hey, Spence,” you whispered as he sat next to you, the paramedic finishing up and walking away.
“How long?” He looked at your stomach, fidgeting with his hands in his lap.
“Three, um, three months,” you fiddled with the bandage on your wrist.
“And you didn’t… you didn’t think to tell me?” he asked, eyes welling up as he finally made eye contact.
“I’m so sorry Spencer, I just, we never talked about kids before and we haven’t been together for too long… I just needed time. To think.”
He nodded and swallowed thickly before softy taking your hand in his, running his finger over the fabric of your bandage.
“You never have to hide something like this from me, y/n. We’re in this together and... not to be um, too forward, but I love you,” he confessed. You knew you loved him, but neither of you had dared say it. “I love you now and I always will, so you can trust me with this kind of thing.”
Since that day, the two of you had only gotten closer. Now, a year into your marriage, you were actively trying. And after months of trying to no avail, a trip to the obstetrician was called for- the obstetrician who called your uterus hostile, which was likely the reason for your first miscarriage. You could barely fall asleep for a few weeks after your obstetrician appointment, which made this early morning case call all the more difficult. The two of you dragged yourselves out of bed and began your morning routine of getting dressed and making coffee, moving in sync with each other as you prepared for the day. It was a quick drive into the office and before you knew it you were sitting in a room full of your coworkers looking at pictures of human remains.
“Four men killed in Ohio in the past month, each left with a note written in the same handwriting,” Penelope says as you all look at the case file. You normally had an iron stomach- in the BAU, queasiness wasn’t an option. But for the first time in your career, your face turned green at the pictures of dead bodies.
“It says here that they are all men in long-term relationships?” Emily asks.
“Correction: Were in long-term relationships. Right before they died, it was reported that they left their girlfriends,” Garcia explained.
“That’s important for the victimology, but there has to be something more to set off the unsub,” Spencer commented.
“Yeah, I bet that there was a common reason for them leaving,” you suggested, closing the case file and averting your gaze from the pictures.
“We’ll discuss more on the jet. Wheels up in twenty,” said Hotch.
You all gathered your things and began to leave for the jet, Spencer walking in stride with you.
“You know what, Spence, I’m actually gonna run across the street and grab some tampons before we go, I think i'm gonna need em,” you said. “Go on ahead without me.”
“Are you sure? I can just come with you,” he offered.
“No, no, go brainstorm with the team. I’ll be right there,” you smiled at him as you parted ways. You were going to the convenience store across the street, but it wasn’t for tampons. Your stomach fluttered as the bell jingled at the entrance. The aisle for pregnancy tests was easy to find, and you were on the jet five minutes later.
“Hey, did you find the, um…” Spencer trailed off as you sat down next to him on the jet. He wasn’t one of those men who got weird about menstruation, but you knew he was avoiding the word “tampon” to save you any embarrassment .
“Yup, I’m good,” you smiled and focused on the team who had now gathered around to further discuss the case.
“So, is there any link between the men yet? There has to be a reason that they were all killed soon after leaving their girlfriends,” JJ mused. You thought back to your past fears and your current situation and something suddenly clicked in your brain.
“Wait…” you picked up the case file. “What if… what if they were pregnant?” you asked, looking up to see furrowed brows. “I mean, the handwriting is feminine, so maybe the unsub is a woman who’s getting revenge on men leaving their pregnant girlfriends?” you concluded.
“I’ll call Garcia. We land in 30, keep looking over the files,” Hotch said before you all sat back down in your respective seats, the outside of your thigh pressed against Spencer’s.
You were trying to think of a good time to take the pregnancy test- you couldn’t do it on the jet, it would be really hard to hide on a plane full of profilers. You decided that the best time to take it would be back at the hotel, but after working for hours you found it hard to focus with the pregnancy test in your bag. Excusing yourself to the bathroom in the local precinct, you snuck the test with you. You locked the door behind you and took the test, trying to control your breathing as you waited for the results. As you waited, you got a text from Morgan telling you that there was new information. The moment you finished reading his text, your alarm beeped. Taking a deep breath, you dared a glance at the stick. With shaky hands, you picked up the test and bit your lip to hold back your yelp of joy at the tiny little +. Shoving the test into your bag, you rushed back to the rest of the team to continue working on the case. You would tell Spencer this time, but you decided it would be best to catch a serial killer first.
Garcia confirmed through the phone that all of the girlfriends were pregnant and shared the same obstetrician who was a single mother with a young child. This seemed to be the perfect profile for an unsub killing men who walked out on their families, but something seemed off to you. You couldn’t quite put your finger on it, but something was bugging you about the case. You were on the way to Shelby Meyerson’s, the obstetricians house, with Morgan and Spencer when Garcia called.
“Whats up baby girl,” Morgan answered, one hand on the wheel.
“So I’ve been doing some digging and it turns out that Shelby actually has a boyfriend, Andrew. Recent social media posts show that they started dating a little over a month ago, and it looks like Andrew grew up without a father” she said.
“Right before the killings started,” you looked at Spencer from the back seat.
“Garcia, send his address,” Spencer spoke into the speaker.
“Already on it my loves,” Garcia replied, and you could hear the clacking of her keyboard as she hit send. You looked at the address in your phone.
“Morgan, that's right down the street from where we are right now,” you pointed out. The three of you didn’t waste any time getting there. You hopped out of the car and approached the door, hand instinctively resting on your gun.
“FBI, open up,” you said, rapping on the door. You waited for a moment, but when nobody answered, Derek took matters into his own hands. Within seconds, the door had been kicked down and the three of you spread out around the house, Morgan going upstairs and Spencer going into the basement as you canvassed the ground floor. You took notice of a cup of tea on a coffee table, still warm. Once you cleared the area, you made your way into the basement, gun drawn. Your heart dropped at the sight before you- a man you recognized as missing tied to the radiator in the corner of the room, and your unsub restraining your husband with a gun to his head. You kept your gun pointed at the unsub as you heard Morgan come down the stairs behind you.
“Don’t move!” The unsub, Andrew, yelled. You raised your hands when he pointed his gun at you, dropping your weapon to gain trust.
“Andrew, there’s no way to get out of this, just let him go so we can talk,” you tried to soothe him, his grip on Spencer only tightening.
“No, no, you don’t understand. These men deserve to die for leaving their children, they-they’re terrible people, I’m giving them what they deserve,” he argued, becoming frantic.
“Andrew, if you hurt that agent, you’re just as bad as the men you kill,” you began, taking small steps toward Spencer. “He’s my husband and…” you started, locking eyes with Spencer. “And I’m pregnant with his child,” you confessed. Spencer's eyes went wide, shock overtaking the previous expression of fear. You continued to speak. “If you kill him, you make him leave his child. I know you don’t want that, I know you don’t want someone else to go through what you went through,” you bargained. Thankfully, you seemed to get through to him, as he dropped his gun and collapsed to the ground, his grip on Spencer loosening as Derek moved in to cuff him.
You immediately ran to your husband, throwing your arms around his midsection as he wrapped himself around you, kissing the top of your head and whispering reassurances to you.
“I was so scared,” you said into his chest, your voice muffled by his kevlar vest. He put his hands on the side of your face and wiped your stray tears, his own falling as he started to smile.
“Were you serious? Are… are we pregnant?” he asked, his hopeful smile spreading wide as ever. You bit your lip and nodded, squealing with joy as he picked you up and twirled you around, not even noticing the rest of the BAU had arrived at the scene.
“Hey, be careful with Y/N! She’s carrying my god child,” Derek smirked as Spencer set you down, his arms still wrapped around your waist.
“Hold on, why does Morgan get to be the godfather?” Rossi questioned, putting on a mock italian accent, making you all laugh.
“That’s not important, what's important is that we're gonna have a baby genius running around,” JJ smiled as she walked over to hug you both, which turned into a group hug between the entire BAU. You all broke up the hug when Morgan's phone began to ring.
“Yes, baby girl everyone's safe. Actually… Pretty boy and pretty girl have some big news,” he said, putting Garcia on speaker.
“What! Tell me right now, I can't handle this!” she begged. You and Spencer smiled at each other before you began to speak.
“You’re gonna be an aunt,” you said excitedly, receiving the loudest gasp through the phone.
“You mean… you… Spencer… you guys… oh my GOD!” she began to ramble about her excitement as you all laughed, Derek taking the phone off speaker to calm her down.
“Our kid is gonna be so loved,” you smiled, grabbing his hands and standing on your toes to press a kiss on his cheek.
“We got really lucky,” he blushed, pulling you back into another hug, the world around you frozen in that moment.

jonelias fake dating bullet fic
help
So Jon’s about a month into his new position as Head Archivist. it’s… fine. this is fine. gertrude was a mess, clearly, and elias is even more of a mess for allowing things to get this bad, but it’s fine. it’s fine. he’s fine.
yes, really, martin, stop asking,
And he’s - look, he’s always been a diligent person, always very committed to his work, so naturally he would spend every waking minute trying to organize the Archives, and naturally he would forget to sleep once or twice or five times a week, and honestly so what if he hasn’t actually touched his bed in nine days? It’s not like the lack of sleep is impeding his brain function. Much.
So it’s a bright and sunny morning in the Institute, and he’s up in one of the many libraries, looking up something about what may or may not have been a sentient kitchen sponge, and one of the researchers comes up to him looking oddly red and kind of stumbling over her words and oh lord no he’s being asked out
He quickly stutters through a rejection, but instead of just accepting it like a normal person (though, in fairness, what normal person would work at the Magnus Institute?), she asks him why not
like. what the fuck.
And Jon isn’t exactly the nicest or most tactful person, but even he isn’t about to look this woman in the eye and tell her that he just straight up does not like her. he’s not even sure he knows her name. there is a whole realm of possibility as to what reason he could give, like he’s too busy, or he isn’t looking to date anyone right now, but those would sound too much like excuses, wouldn’t they, rather than valid reasons to reject her.
He picks the worst option.
“I’m already seeing someone, actually.”
An eyebrow goes up. She looks him up and down. A second eyebrow goes up.
“Really? Who?”
Fuck. Now he has .2 seconds to make up a love story. He’s too tired for this, and he’s never been one for love stories. What makes for a believable romance? And in that panicked, sleep-deprived instant, his eyes fall on a portrait of Jonah Magnus nestled between two shelves, and somehow that prompts a spectacularly terrible response.
“Uh. Elias.”
Twenty minutes later he’s sitting at his desk in a spiral of anxiety. It’s fine, though, right? That woman will probably keep it to herself, and she’s just some random researcher, there’s no way anyone else will hear about his stupid comment. There’s no way Elias will hear about it - and even if he does, Elias has always been a pretty laid back boss, maybe he’ll even find it funny?
Oh lord he’s going to die
The next day, everyone has heard about it. Jon can just feel it in the way people’s eyes follow him. Tim and Sasha give him twin funny looks, kind of half-disbelieving, half-amused. Jon slams his office door slightly harder than necessary. He puts it forcefully from his mind, and the day passes without incident. Until.
It’s the end of the day. Jon is walking towards the Institute’s main doors. Half the Institute seems to be there (fair enough, it is closing time), gathered in bunches, talking quietly, eyes flitting to him and away. Tim and Sasha are sitting on their Gossip Couch in the lobby, watching him. Elias is there, and waves him over, holding something that looks like a statement. Of course, today would be the day he decides to get involved in the archives.
Jon begrudgingly walks over. The second he reaches Elias’ side, Tim’s voice rings across the lobby. He’s walking towards them, saying something about hearing the most interesting thing from a woman in research, and how long have they been together?
Elias looks at him. Jon can see the instant when he realizes what’s happened, and, more importantly, he can see the precise moment when Elias decides to make things infinitely worse, because his eyes light up like he’s just been offered a second Christmas.
Elias turns back to Tim and, entirely matter-of-factly, says, “Two weeks.”
Tim, honestly, had not been expecting it to be true.
It’s bad. It’s bad, but… it could be worse. Two weeks isn’t a long time. It’s not like Elias has gone and made up an entire marriage or something. Jon will just put up with his coworker’s teasing for a couple of weeks, and then drop some vague comment about being too busy to date, and an amicable breakup, and that will be the end of the whole ordeal. This is fine.
Jon goes straight to Elias’ office the next morning to tell him just that, ignoring Tim and Sasha’s loud whistles as he reaches that particular set of stairs. He gets through a begrudging thank-you and a short explanation of his game plan, but once he’s done, Elias just folds his hands on his desk and smiles in a perfectly pleasant way that makes Jon feel like a minnow suspended between the open jaws of a shark.
Elias, as it turns out, has a party coming up next month, hosted by the Fairchilds, although Jon doesn’t know that name just yet. It’s an opportunity to garner more funds for the Institute, and he suspects one of the Lukases is going to ask him to it. Elias can’t afford to offend the Lukases, but he would also prefer to avoid getting roped into dating one of them again - (again??) - so why not stretch this fake dating thing out just a little longer.
Well, Jon thinks, there’s no harm in it, really. It’s just a month, just a party. And he does owe Elias for covering for him yesterday. So he agrees.
A week after the party, he’s preparing to drop his breakup comments over tea in the breakroom, when his cousin calls to invite him to her wedding. Bring a plus one! Oh god. He can already hear all the aunties, asking him when he’s going to settle down, why he hasn’t found someone yet. He bites his tongue on the breakup comment, puts his cup down, and walks up to Elias’ office.
It becomes a sort of unspoken agreement. Fake dating isn’t even hard; they’re adults with jobs, after all, not high schoolers spending every waking moment together. It’s an arrangement of convenience, more than anything, and the only thing that changes between them is that Elias visits the Archives more than he used to, and they talk more, and one time at one of Elias’ parties they danced, and it was nice, actually.
Meanwhile, for Jonah’s part, he’s having a baller time. Fake dating is such a small, petty thing, but the scheming that goes into laying out all the right little hints of domesticity, not to mention the fun of walking the line between performing for the others and legitimately flirting with Jon, always just short of anything that couldn’t be explained away - it’s like a fun, relaxing warm-up to his more important schemes.
Plus, he now has an excuse to spend more time with Jon, evaluating and pushing and molding the man who will become his Archive. It isn’t hard - and people like Jane Prentiss and Jurgen Leitner and the not-Them make it all the more easy.
On which note - Jane Prentiss happens. The Archives are in upheaval, someone definitely murdered Gertrude, and Jon is freaking out. Someone - Sasha, this person is Sasha - comes up to him to tell him that he shouldn’t be alone right now. Any good boyfriend would take him home, take care of him after something so traumatic. Elias is sitting next to him, and he gives Sasha a strange, sharp smile, and just as she’d suggested, he takes Jon home. Jon is too caught up in stress and exhaustion and who killed gertrude to remember that Elias is not, in fact, his actual boyfriend.
Maybe some part of him recalls, somewhere between the part where Elias so carefully tends to his wounds and the part where they fall asleep curled around each other, that this is not what fake-dating-at-parties-for-mutual-convenience is supposed to entail, but he’s so tired and there are so many bigger things to worry about than whether or not this is a boundary they shouldn’t cross.
He wakes up with Elias’ arms around him and Elias’ fingers combing gently through hair, and after that the line between fake dating and actually being in a relationship just gets blurrier and blurrier. But nothing really happens, not yet. Jon is in the midst of a murder investigation, after all - one even Elias is still a suspect in, warm mornings together or not. So they remain walking that line for months and months as Jon sinks further into paranoia, isolated from everyone - except Elias, who stays by his side like the supportive boyfriend he isn’t.
And then there’s the table. And the thing that is not Sasha. And Jurgen Leitner. And now he’s the one being suspected of murder. Jon does what has become his habit over the past two years when he is faced with a social situation he feels ill-equipped to deal with on his own. He goes to Elias.
And Jonah starts to rework his plans.
Maybe the fact that they now live together will make getting Jon marked by the fears harder, maybe it will take longer for him to be ready for the Watcher’s Crown. Maybe it will add years to his plans. But what good is a world without someone to rule it with? Maybe even, with time and patience, someone willing? Jonah’s waited 200 years to perform his ritual; for his Archive, he can wait a few more.

These Words are Knives
AO3
Masterpost- Previous- Next
Summary: Virgil doesn't like being a secret boyfriend. He honestly just wants his soulmate to be able to be himself at home and at work. But has Janus ever been himself with anyone? Remus probably. But Virgil and Remus don't know about each other and that's about to become everyone's problem
Content Warning: Unsympathetic Janus, Swearing, Fighting, Capslock, Emotional Abuse and Manipulation
Day 28 Anxceitmus- A sentence appears on your arm each night recapping something your soulmate said that day. Modified so that it only shows up after you've met them in person.
"If you love me, let me go If you love me, let me go These words are knives that often leave scars The fear, the fear of falling apart Truth be told I never was yours The fear, the fear of falling apart" -This is Gospel Panic! at the Disco
"Oh yes, my girlfriend and I enjoy true crime shows pretty often."
Virgil sighed, staring at the golden letters glowing on his skin. It stung a lot to see his soulmate lie like this every night.
He turned over in bed to face Janus, "I hate your boss."
"Mmhmm, me too," Janus replied flatly, not taking his eyes off the newspaper.
"I shouldn't have to see this. You shouldn't have to keep me hidden from your coworkers," Virgil felt anger knotting at the bottom of his stomach. It truly wasn't fair.
"If he finds out I'm gay, he will fire me. I'm not having this discussion right now," Janus declared with a tone of finality.
"I'm not asking you to out yourself, I'm just upset about the situation," Virgil twisted onto his back and stared at the ceiling, "what does yours say?"
Janus gave an exasperated sigh and made a show of rolling up his sleeve before reading the shiny purple text, "'Oh my god, that would definitely have killed me!' Honestly, Virgil, it was a mouse. Bit of an overreaction."
"Whatever, good night."
"Virgil?"
"What?"
"I love you."
"Love you too."
Well, it wasn't a lie, Virgil is far too trusting of him for him to not mean it when he says he loves him.
Janus could remember back when they'd first met, Virgil wouldn't even give him his phone number. It had been a tedious process getting the anxious man to open up, and it was more than worth it to Janus. The problems only started when he'd met her.
Remus had been completely unexpected; Janus had literally run into her on his way to work. He panicked that first night the neon green script appeared on his arm opposite the purple text. Remus was also his soulmate and unlike Virgil, she was eager to know Janus.
Janus had made his decision to keep his second soulmate a secret the moment he saw the text, and now he sat like a spider atop his web of lies.
Janus glanced over at Virgil as he lay there, clearly not asleep yet, and started humming a lullaby that usually helped Virgil relax. The tension in his shoulders started to ease and soon he was snoring. Janus folded up the newspaper and took the disposable phone out of his nightstand.
R<3: heyyyy sexy i wanna c u tomrw ;]
He smiled and responded, keeping an eye on Virgil to make sure he was still asleep.
J: I agree, at our usual place?
R<3: !!!!!!
He quickly shut off the phone and hid it again before turning off the bedside lamp and rolling over to fall asleep. ---- Truth be told, it was simply easier to talk about Remus at work because they went by multiple pronouns. It also helped that they didn't immediately get suspicious anytime Janus brought them up. Virgil’s concern could be overbearing and it was just easier to stay under the radar of homophobic coworkers who would no longer respect him if they found out.
He didn't feel good about lying; it was survival. But he was good at it.
"Jan!" Remus waved him over as soon as he arrived at the restaurant. He smiled and joined them at their table, "it's been too long, why are you avoiding me?" Remus asked with a grin.
"I'm not, I just don't want to interrupt your work," Janus smirked, taking a sip of his water.
"What? You don't think I could handle you trying to distract me?" Remus laughed happily, leaning over to kiss their soulmate’s cheek.
They laughed and joked all through dinner, gossiping about coworkers, generally having a good time. The time got away from Janus and it was midnight before he realized how late it had gotten.
"Oh! I want to see what your soul mark says today!" Remus beamed, excitedly rolling up their own sleeve.
"You do tend to have quite… entertaining quotes," Janus' smile hid his irritation but he obliged, rolling up his sleeve as well, "'Why don't we eat the babies and call it Swifting?' Really, Remus? Do I want context?"
"You remember 'A Modest Proposal' by Jonathan Swift, right?" he giggled, reading his own quote of the day, "'Honestly, Virgil, it was a mouse.' Huh…" Remus looked confused, "who's Virgil? You don't talk about him but I see his name come up pretty often."
"A coworker. He's not very pleasant to talk with but we often have projects together," the lie was smooth as silk. He knew this one would happen someday and had prepared.
Remus glanced over and saw a streak of purple along Janus’ wrist of his other arm, "what's that?" they grabbed Janus' wrist and pushed the sleeve up before he could protest. They read the words out loud, "'sup, fellow cryptids? I'm your host, Virgil Keir and it's time to talk about why you absolutely should run to the woods to date the Fae.' Wait…" Remus looked up knowingly, "Virgil is your soulmate, not your coworker."
"He can be both. Like I said, he's not easy to get along with-" Janus was sweating under his collar.
"I want to meet him!" Remus exclaimed.
"Why?' Janus was genuinely puzzled by their reaction.
"Hello! I love his youtube channel and you're my easy in! Plus he's your soulmate so he's gotta be important to you, which makes him all the more important to me," Remus grinned happily, "I swear I'm not jealous that you have two soulmates."
Janus let the comment slide past him, "I'll talk with him, but he's rather private. He may not want to meet you. I mean, he hasn't asked about you at all."
"Alright alright. Thanks, Jan!" Remus kissed him again, "wanna stay the night?" they asked with a wink.
"Not tonight, we both have work tomorrow and it's late enough already," Janus gave them a silvery smile while standing to pay the bill.
"Aw man, I can't wait to tell Stormy about this!" Remus pulled out their phone and was already texting with fire in their eyes.
"Who’s Stormy?" Janus asked hesitantly.
"Tumblr mutual. He's like the biggest fan of 'Mothman Mondays'. He'll be so stoked!"
"Ah- well have fun with that. Goodnight, darling," Janus left quickly. This needed to be contained. ---- Virgil stared at his phone in disbelief.
thotiestthoughts: stormy ull nvr guess!!
thotiestthoughts: my soulmate knows Virgil K!!!
Thoti was probably Virgil’s favorite fan, they messaged on tumblr all the time and had become quite good friends, but it was through his anonymous account not the official blog for his show. He debated how he would respond before typing back.
stormcloud07734: wow what a coincidence. r u secretly him? ;)
The best defense is a strong offense, right?
thotiestthoughts: !!!! im so excite!!!!!!
stormcloud07734: that means u must live pretty close to him
thotiestthoughts: u think hes in Orlando???
Virgil smiled. He knew he was in Orlando. But he had a better idea.
stormcloud07734: don't know about Virgil but im in Orlando. wanna meet up?
His heart was pounding. If this were anyone else but thoti he'd never consider it.
thotiestthoughts: OMG WHEN? RN?
stormcloud07734: how about tomorrow?
Virgil smiled at thoti's enthusiasm. They both picked a local cafe to meet in the afternoon and signed off for the night. Virgil didn’t even wait for Janus to get home before falling asleep. ---- Virgil got to the cafe an hour early. He could barely feel his own breathing as his heart felt like it filled his whole chest and stomach. What if he was wrong and thoti turned out to be a creep or stalker? What if he was never heard from again? He hadn't even said goodbye to Janus that morning. He tried to scroll tumblr to calm down, tried to research for his next episode, anything to distract himself from the anticipation and anxiety.
Remus couldn't wait to meet stormy and was practically bouncing around the back seat of xyr Uber. He'd given xem his phone number since they'd never shared photos and xe was trying desperately to not call before xe got to the cafe.
About a block away xyr phone started ringing. It was stormy.
"Hello?" Xe answered breathlessly.
An all too familiar voice answered xem, "hey, thoti, I know you're not here just yet but I have a bit of a confession to make."
"Virgil…" Remus was practically shoved out of the car by the driver as xe was paralyzed in shock. Xe looked up and saw the familiar pale face, purple hair with swooping bangs and dark eyeshadow smiling at him from a table in the corner, phone held to his face.
"Yup, sorry," Virgil hung up as Remus walked over, mouth agape.
"All this time?" xe asked, not ready to sit at the table with one of xyr favorite minor celebrities.
"Yeah, I kinda like participating in cryptid culture without being hounded about my videos," Virgil shrugged with a grin, "come on, sit down. I'm a lot more like stormcloud than I am like my videos."
"I'm Remus," xe stuck out xyr hand.
"Virgil," he snickered and pinched Remus' fingers with three of his own and gave a curt little shake. Xe laughed and sat down across the table, fidgeting with xyr hoodie strings. Virgil gave xem a long look over, "so your soulmate knows me?"
"Oh yeah, I kinda found out last night and asked him to ask you to meet me so if he brings that up, sorry. I just got really excited about it," Remus blushed in embarrassment, "hopefully Janus will be cool about it."
Virgil stopped mid-sip of a mocha latte, "Janus?"
"Yeah, our soulmate."
"You're his soulmate too? I don't believe you," Virgil shook his head.
"I saw both lines of writing on his arms last night, I'm sure of it!" Remus' grin began to falter, "but whatever, right? We're not here to talk about soulmates. I've been so excited to meet you."
"Hang on, how long?" Virgil demanded.
"How long what? My d-"
"How long have you been soulmates?" Virgil smacked the table.
"About 5 months," Remus looked down at the table. This was going terribly.
"Janus has been my soulmate for 2 years and he never brought up a second soulmate. I can't-" Virgil looked like something inside him was dying, "why wouldn't he mention you?"
"He- oh my god he doesn't want me around… and you probably hate me just for existing…" Remus looked up as Virgil laid a hand gently on xyrs.
"No. I don't hate you. We're going to get to the bottom of this." ---- Virgil sat in bed next to Janus who was preoccupied with a book. He didn't know how to bring up Remus and every moment he felt sicker and sicker in his stomach. The frequent fights, the talk at work about a girlfriend, the distance between them, when he thought about it he realized it had only really started 5 months ago.
Janus reached out to take his hand and Virgil instinctively pulled away.
"What's wrong, Virgil?" Janus asked sweetly.
"Don't touch me," he muttered just as the clock struck midnight. He glanced at the yellow text without bothering to read it, "I bet this one is a lie too."
"Virgil, what do you mean? You're acting suspicious," Janus’ mind was reeling. He'd forgotten what Virgil had said he was going to do that day and didn't expect him to be so hostile. He glanced down at the purple text on his arm and asked, "who's 'thoti', Virgil?"
Virgil started to reply when he saw a flash of green on his own arm. He looked and was surprised to find a second soul mark in a dark green scrawl. His phone was ringing and he didn't even need caller ID to know who it was, "are you seeing this too, Rem?" Virgil's eyes flicked over to Janus and narrowed, "a second soulmate, who could have guessed?" Janus kept his face impressively passive at the news and subtle accusation, "okay, see you soon."
Virgil hung up and glared at Janus who simply repeated, "who's 'thoti', Virgil?"
"You insufferable bastard! You know exactly who xe is, your 'girlfriend' our soulmate," Virgil scowled, ready to tear out a throat and leave the body for the wolves. He saw that Remus had texted him that xe was 10 minutes away. Janus had nowhere to run now.
"Her name is Remus. Why would I assume she was your soulmate or that you would give her such a disrespectful nickname?" Janus tried to steer the conversation in his favor.
"You're going to accuse me of disrespect? For the last five months, you have done nothing but lie to us and you're saying I'm the disrespectful one? You can't deflect your way out of this one, babe," Virgil felt his eye twitch. Remus better get there fast if he wanted both soulmates intact.
Virgil was screaming and beating Janus with a pillow when the doorbell rang.
"What the fuck? Is this a confrontation or a sleepover?" Remus burst in the door, finding it unlocked. He ran over and pulled Virgil off of Janus, getting a face full of feathers in the process.
"Oh just casual domestic abuse," Janus picked himself off the floor as Virgil struggled to get out of Remus' grasp.
"I'm going to make him pay, one way or another!" Virgil snarled.
"I don't know, Virgil, I think we can work this out," he blurted out.
Virgil stared at Remus dumbfounded, "you think what? Work this out? He's lied to you the whole time you've known him!"
"So did you," Remus looked down as if ashamed to say it out loud, "I thought you were stormcloud. I gushed about Virgil to you for hours and you never thought to tell me who you really were. I bet you even got content ideas from me and never had to credit them. So how is that different, if not worse, than Janus being scared of you doing exactly what you're doing right now?"
"You really think having an anonymous tumblr is worse than being manipulated for years? Is that what I'm hearing, Remus?"
"I think you're overreacting. I want to try and fix this relationship because we're soulmates and we should be able to make it work," Remus sighed, turning away from Virgil, "I'm not cutting anyone off."
"It's alright, Virgil. I forgive you. Let's figure this out together-"
"NO!" something snapped. Virgil squared up, facing the other two, "get out."
"Virgil," Janus took a step towards him.
"I said, Get Out."
"Oh, did you forget? The lease is in my name. I'm not leaving my fucking apartment. If you don't want to work with us then you can work on getting your own place to live," Janus’ look turned smug and cold as ice.
"Janus, don't kick him out," Remus looked as though he were about to spiral into a panic attack. If he'd just kept his mouth shut for once maybe-
"No, he's right. He holds shelter and food over my head to keep me in line so he can keep a secret fuck boy on the side and expects me to 'work it out' like I'm too scared to fend for myself. Fuck you," Virgil started to laugh with tears streaming down his cheeks. He turned and grabbed his backpack, walking to their room to grab as much of his stuff as he could. Remus followed him, holding Janus back from saying anything more.
"Virgil, please. I don't want to lose you," Remus pleaded softly.
"I thought you were pissed at me for being a liar on the internet," Virgil muttered.
"Maybe, but if I'm willing to forgive Janus don't you think I can forgive you too?" Remus held up his arm to block the door.
Virgil stopped with a heavy exhausted sigh, "I don't want your forgiveness. Remus, if you love me, let me go."
Virgil watched as a tear slipped down Remus' face and he lowered his arm. The rage that fueled him broke and he grabbed Remus in a hug. The other stiffened, uncertain, before relaxing and hugging Virgil back.
"I didn't want to leave you; I just can't stay with him," Virgil fought to keep his voice from trembling as much as his shoulders were shaking.
"I'll see if my landlord can add you on my lease… that way you don't have to leave?" Remus offered hopefully.
"That sounds like a thousand more nights spent screaming. Not a good idea," Virgil broke away from the hug, "thank you, Remus."
"You… you know how to find me if you need me," Remus laughed sullenly.
"Thanks. I'm sorry."
Remus only nodded as Virgil made for the front door.
"If you leave right now, you'll never see him again," Janus spoke from his place on the couch, wine glass in hand, and already half-empty in the short time Virgil spent packing.
"I know. Anything to keep me from fighting you, right? Just watch me find a way to be happy, asshole," Virgil spat before walking out without a second glance back. ---- "Virgil?"
"What?"
"I love you."
"No, you don't!" Virgil hissed, pushing himself away as hard as he could.
"Virgil, I know I'm not your soulmate but I am confident about my feelings for you," Logan looked confused and hurt but all Virgil could see was a cold, sly smile he'd tried so hard to forget. Reality started to blur and Virgil began to hyperventilate while the smirk leered closer, "Virgil, it's me, Logan. In for four."
Virgil focused on the calming voice and followed its instructions. After a few minutes, he could see Logan’s living room, feel the blanket tangled around their feet, the soft touch of his best friend pulling him back from the edge.
"Logan, I- I'm-"
"Don't apologize. There's nothing to apologize for," Logan held him close, resting his chin in Virgil’s hair, "you were clearly triggered. I did not mean to hurt you and your lashing out wasn't directed at me."
"But I know you aren't him, it's not fair for me to treat you that way," Virgil shuddered, pushing in to be as close to Logan as possible.
"Perhaps not, but I'm choosing to forgive it because I know this isn't easy for you," Logan smiled rubbing small circles on his back, "I will learn one thousand different ways to show you my appreciation and care if those three little words are ineffective and harmful to you."
"I don't deserve you," Virgil's voice was muffled as he buried his face in Logan’s chest to hide the tears threatening to spill over.
"No, you deserve so much more than I can give you, and you didn't deserve what happened in the past," Logan kissed the top of his head sweetly.
Virgil choked back a sob, "don't your soulmates hate me?"
Logan sighed, "no. They are happy together and I am happy for them. It has been a while since I've talked to either Patton or Roman, but I think they're okay with me finding you. Not every breakup is toxic, nor are all soulbonds romantic."
They stayed curled together like that on the couch for quite a while, the movie they'd been watching left forgotten on pause.
"Are you happy, Logan?" Virgil whispered, breaking the easy silence.
"With you, yes."
"Promise?"
"I promise I won't lie to you. I am happy with you, Stormcloud," Logan squeezed him tighter, trying to impart every ounce of his love with the application of force. He never wanted to be the one hurting Virgil, and if he ever met Janus or Remus, there was a baseball bat with their names on it in the corner.

Comfort || Mayward
I just wanted to write this so have some soft, fluffy college jjpope
Pope is tired.
It’s like all his professors called each other up and decided it would be a great idea to have a big paper or a test all in the same week. It didn’t help that one of his coworkers called out sick and he wanted the extra money so he volunteered to take the shift. This normally wouldn’t be a problem because his library job usually comes with a lot of down time to do work, but this week everyone needed some book or another for their assignments and Pope got disturbed so much it wasn’t even worth trying to work on his paper.
It’s how he ends up in the library on his own time till 1am writing up his research report. It isn’t his best work, but he collapses in his room and decides he can read it the next day before he turns it in.
The problem is that he wakes up in the morning to the sound of his roommate entering the room after his morning class. “Dude, your alarm is going off like crazy,” he comments and Pope shoots up in bed, scrambling around to find his alarm.
It’s been going off for an hour and a half.
“Shit!” Pope doesn’t even acknowledge his roommate as he grabs his backpack and hurries out the door. He thankfully isn’t late for class, but his paper is currently sitting unedited without time to do so in the near future.
The three morning classes are long. Pope nearly falls asleep in the last but his eyes fly open when his head falls out of his hand, sinking in his chair when he realizes he caught some of his classmates' attention. It’s luckily near the end of the class and with a reminder of his test in two days, he’s hurrying out of the room and to the library.
The paper isn’t as good as he’d like but the professor is an asshole who decided it’s due at 5 pm and not midnight like any normal one so he hits send without feeling one hundred percent confident and hopes for the best.
It’s time to study for his test now.
He trudged back to his room around 6, grabbing a quick dinner on the way. He would normally study in the library, but his eyes are straining from the light and the textbook was starting to blur. The food was a good break and he knows a change in scenery will help his studying.
Pope doesn’t expect the blond on the other side of his door when he opens it.
“Surprise!” JJ smiles, throwing his arms out. He looks so happy, blue eyes squinting with his wide smile and hair falling into his face. The smile falls when he looks at Pope though, quickly reaching forward to rest a hand on Pope’s shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
Pope only lets his shock sit for a moment before he is wrapping his arms around JJ’s middle, head resting on his shoulder and nose pressing into his neck. Pope sucks in a deep breath, lets his eyes slip closed as JJ’s arms instantly wrap around him, holds him close.
“Pope, are you okay?”
“I’m just tired,” Pope mumbles, thinking about his test in two days, the paper that is due two days after that, his next work shirt tomorrow and the day after. It has him holding JJ tighter, shifting closer so they’re pressed together from head to toe. “I have so much to do.” JJ holds him tighter, presses his lips to Pope’s forehead. It’s at that moment Pope realizes JJ is actually here, that JJ is visiting him and Pope was barely going to be able to hang out. “Did I know you were coming?” Did he forget? Is he a horrible boyfriend?
“No!” JJ seems to understand his worry as he pulls away just enough to look into Pope’s eyes. “I wanted to surprise you.” JJ searches his face for a moment, shifts so he can brush his fingers against Pope’s cheek, fingers resting along his jaw and thumb brushing back and forth. “I should have checked in first.”
Pope melts at the words because JJ just wanted to surprise him. “I’m not going to be able to hang out much,” Pope frowns, leans into the touch.
“I’m pretty sure your work has an extra chair.,” JJ smiles, leans over to press his lips to Pope’s in a gentle kiss. Pope sighs, lets his own fingers dance across JJ’s cheek. It’s been way too long. He hates that he has to pull away.
“I have to study,” Pope tries, but JJ shakes his head, holds him tighter.
“I think you need a break.” There is no innuendo in his words, no hints at a reunion that Pope is sure JJ was hoping for. The words are simply coated with concern as JJ watches him closely. He doesn’t know why but it’s then Pope realizes he hadn’t brushed his teeth this morning. There is a good chance he really does need a break.
“I didn’t brush my teeth this morning.”
JJ barks out a laugh, eyes bright as his hands dance across Pope’s bottom lip. “I could tell,” JJ teases. Pope rolls his eyes, gives the other a shove as he goes to rummage around for his tooth brush.
He comes back to the room with his pajamas on the bed and JJ leaning against the headboard, curled up in Pope’s second pair of pajamas. Pope doesn’t even argue as he changes, smiling when JJ pulls the sheets back so Pope can slip in next to him.
It’s a tight fit on the twin size bed but Pope curls up next to him, rests his head on JJ’s chest and listens to the steady beat of his heart. JJ presses a kiss to his head, wraps his arm around Pope so his fingers can brush up and down his arm as it lulls him to sleep.
“I love you,” is the last thing Pope hears as he drifts off.

Breathe Gentle
Tumblr media
A/N: I had a really sweet dream with Jinyoung. And it had such a rom-com vibe I decided to share with you guys.
I probably should have done some research to describe some parts at the beginning of the story but since it is based on a dream, I did not worry about making it a 100% realistic.
I hope you guys like it. Please let me know if you do.
A.
You should have stayed home. That’s what your brain kept telling you all the way from your apartment to the subway. You’ve been feeling sick since last Friday. At first, you thought it was just a flu that would go away with the vitamins and tons of water. But another week started and there you were: feverish, nauseated, and dragging your body through the busy streets of your neighborhood. Even if you knew you should be in bed. Or maybe go to a hospital.
But you were too stubborn.
Waking up a bit late, you fixed yourself as quick as you could, caring only to look decent enough to not be annoyed by unsolicited comments made by your coworkers. But after receiving a few crooked looks before entering the metro car, using your phone’s camera to check yourself, you gasped to the sight of your ill features.
You loosened your hair, hoping its waves would give you some cover and reached for the necessaire inside your bag, wanting to apply some color your cheeks and lips. But as the car started moving, it was hard to even keep your own balance, a new wave of nausea hitting your body. And two stations later you were stumbling against the people in front of you.
Getting some air, that’s what you thought would make you feel a bit better. But the vertiginous feeling stopped you from finding a way out. And before your body hit the floor, everything became black.
The white ceiling was the first thing you noticed when you woke up. A woman voice soon getting your attention. You were in a hospital bed, a woman wearing a white coat standing by your side, making notes on a metal clipboard.
“You fainted a few minutes ago. There was a little cut on your forehead, but it was treated before you even got here.” the doctor explained after introducing herself and letting you know where you were, only noticing the pain on the right side of your head once she mentioned the wound. “Your blood pressure is a bit lower than it should and now that you are awake, we’re going to run some tests. Have you been feeling sick for how long?”
“Since Friday morning, I guess,” you felt your throat burning as if you had thrown up. And considering you were not wearing your own clothes you assumed you did. “I thought it was just the flu.”
“Most likely it is,” the doctor said, “But let’s see if the tests confirm if it’s nothing more serious.”
“I’m sorry, doctor, but how many tests, and how much will it cost me?” you asked, worried that all your saving would go down the drain just because your body decided to sabotage you.
“I’ve been told your boyfriend is already taking care of it,” the doctor said with a reassurance smile. “A nurse will come to collect you in a minute.”
“…Boyfriend?”
The tests showed you were dehydrated thanks to the flu, and the falling on the ground caused a small concussion. You would have the spend the rest of the day in observation and with no other sings appeared, you would be released the next morning. But neither of those things explained the fact that you had, apparently, a boyfriend.
When the nurse told she would let him know he could finally see you, you started to freak out. Your last relationship had ended up in bad terms. What once was something close to love turned into something violent and after struggling you finally was able to be completely free of him. It’s been months since you’ve even heard your name. And now the possibility of having the one who hurt you the most in front of you again unbalanced every single fiber of your being.
But instead of your undesirable ex, the man that entered your room was a complete stranger.
Except that you knew him. Not personally, you never exchanged words, even though you had exchanged looks. He was the cute guy that always caught your attention on the subway. Sometimes you would see him when you were already on your way to work, him entering a couple of stations after yours. And sometimes you would leave work and he would already be there, reading a book or checking his phone. Somewhere in between, he caught you staring at him. You turned away, feeling your face burn. But then you dared to glance at him again and there he was, smiling at you.
After that day you started to look for him every trip you did to work. It became a weird addiction, this little game you would do with yourself. The days you would see him from afar, you would start imagining who he was, what he liked... If you would ever have the courage to approach him, give him your number. And the days he noticed you, you felt too embarrassed to look back. But while you kept your eyes down and bite the inside of your cheeks, you fed your ego with the thought of him wondering the same things about you.
Those days were your favorite days, you figured. No matter how silly it felt.
He stepped inside the room slowly, careful, his face a bit red, curiously holding your bag on his hands. “Hi,” he said shyly, voice sounding a bit deeper than you expected. “How are you feeling?”
“Confused,” a short laugh came out with your admission, the dark-haired man repeating the action.
“I’m sorry. I saw you at the station,” he started explaining. “I was about to get in the car when you stubbled against me. You looked really bad,” he said, staring at his own foot for a second “I tried to catch you before you felt but I wasn’t close enough,” you frowned at how apologetic he sounded as if you hurting yourself was his fault.
“So, you brought me here.”
“Actually, I called for the ambulance. And I… came… with you,” he said slowly, observing your reaction, but you kept your expressions at ease, waiting for him to give you more details of what happened while you were blacked out. “I’m sorry, I checked inside your bag. They needed your health insurance information, but I couldn’t find any. So, I gave them mine.”
“Can I have it back?” you asked, nodding at his hands “My bag, I mean.”
“Yes, sorry,” he rushed to you, red turning red again, a nice contrast to his dark eyes and hair.
“You told them you were my boyfriend,” it was your time to feel the warmth on your cheeks, eyes deviating of his, pretending to check if everything was okay inside your bag. He was a stranger still, but somehow, after all the trouble he went through with no need, it was hard not to give him at least part of your trust.
“It was the only way they would let come.”
“But why? I mean, you didn’t need to come. And you didn’t need to do any of this.”
“I felt like I should,” he said, his hands sliding inside his pants’ pockets. “Felt like the right thing to do.”
“Thank you,” you said gently, both of you smiling softly at each other until you felt your heart beating faster than it should, looking down for a minute. “You know, I still don’t know your name.”
“God, I’m sorry!” he scratched the back of his neck. “I’m Jinyoung. Park Jinyoung.”
“It’s nice to meet you. Even in these weird circumstances,” you waved your hand, making a circle around you, giggling at how ridiculous it all seemed.
“I should have asked you for your phone the first time I saw you,” Jinyoung confessed, his lips twitching up and you felt your heart jump. “I should be going, and you need to rest. But can I check on you again tomorrow?”
You gave him your phone number before Jinyoung left and after you called your job and explained what happened you kept the device close to you, checking it constantly. Everything seemed so surreal you were starting to think once you fell asleep you would find out everything was nothing but a dream. Of all the ways you have fantasized about talking to him, the one you were now was definitely not on the list. And still, you could not be more grateful that you had Jinyoung as your unexpected savior, even if just for one day.
He texted you in the evening, to see how you were doing and you kept talking for a while until you started to fall asleep. The next day he was by your side again, arriving at your room a few minutes before your discharge papers were signed.
“You really don’t need to do this!” you insisted when Jinyoung offered to follow you home once he learned that was no one to make you company. Not that it mattered. Jinyoung had taken you as his full responsibility and would not be satisfied until he made sure you were safe and sound inside your own place.
The doctor had recommended you rest for more a few days before returning to your normal routine and that alone seemed to be the hardest task you ever received. Once you two were inside of your apartment you started to think of how everything needed to be cleaned up. Jinyoung already witnessed you falling with your face to the ground. He didn’t need to think you kept some dirty habits.
“What are you doing?” he asked, watching as you started to fix some pillows on your couch and collect the cups you left at the coffee table, rushing to the kitchen to wash them. “You need to rest!”
“I just need to clean this up first.”
“Why don’t I do this,” he held your wrists gently, pulling you away from the kitchen. “And you go take a shower.”
“Jinyoung…”
“I can also make some breakfast. Hospital food is never good.”
“Why are you being so nice to me?” you asked, eying the grip he still had on you, keeping your arms between you two.
“Because I want to,” he said simply, as if was not a big deal “Now go.”
Jinyoung did make your breakfast, the surrealism of it all being left behind as soon as you opened the bathroom door. You sat at the small round table, buttered toasts with eggs and juice served for the both of you. Was it too soon to say you were in love?
“You really don’t have anyone to make you company?” he asked.
“Are you really that worried about me?”
“Is that so hard to believe?”
“Can you not answer my question with another question?” you chuckled, slapping his arm gently.
“Yes, I am worried about you,” Jinyoung sighed, looking at you with unexpected tenderness. Not that anything over the past twenty-four hours had been expected. “I guess I nurtured a silent crush on you. And seeing you falling on the ground and then bleeding really frightened me.”
“Oh God,” you whined, hiding your face in your palms, imagining how ridiculous you must have looked. “How can you still have a crush on me after seeing all that?”
“You threw up on my shoes and here I am making you breakfast,” he shrugged, and you almost jumped in your chair, gasping at the new piece of information he had just given to you. Jinyoung laughed, his hand fondling your arm gently. “So, I’m very confident that I still have a crush on you.”
“And I don’t think I can ever look at you again,” your voice sounded muffled through your fingers, face being hidden again with your palms again, as you felt mortified.
“You are cute.”
You took a deep breath and looked at him between your fingers, Jinyoung’s gentle expressions putting you at ease. “I don’t even know how to start to thank you for all of this.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Jinyoung said, sliding his touch from your arm until he reached your hand, holding it gently. “You could have called the cops on me and treated me like a weirdo but instead, here we are.”
“Well, I was also developing a silent crush on you,” you declared, locking your eyes with his, ignoring all the embarrassment you were still feeling on your core.
“I would ask you on a date, but you still need to rest,” Jinyoung said, turning your palm up over the table, playing with your fingers. “But how would you feel if I offered to make you dinner tonight?”
“I would feel incredibly and unnecessarily spoiled,” you said, raising a brow.
“I take it as a yes, then,” he smirked, giving a kiss to your palm.
“Are you always like this?” you asked, heart fluttered with all the amorous attention he was so willingly ready to give you.
Jinyoung smiled, leaning closer to you to give a kiss on your cheek, the touch leaving your skin tingling. “I can be worse.”
