Decay AU | Dante Madrigal (repost)

Dante Madrigal, born from Isabela Madrigal from the Decay AU, conceived and born in the Watcher AU ten years after she left; leading him to be one of the first of the group to start his very existence in the Watcher AU, unlike his Variant-Tia, Verana who was conceived in her mother’s AU but was born in the Watcher AU.

He was a two days later than expected but rather small but born via a C-section as he was fully breech and tangled in his umbilical cord.

He spent the first day days of life between his mother and Variant-Abuela, Pariah Julieta who had most experience with babies, given her more recent daughter, Rana who had been ten at the time of Dante’s birth.

His father was not in his life, nor was Decay actively talking about him, as he was a product of an one-night stand between his mother and a passing partner; her birth control had expired before she realised after the fact. Decay often had many partners of both men and women, favoured towards the latter as working in the Watcher AU was stressful and tense, so the need of relief and relaxation couldn’t always be solved through therapy. It’s not an uncommon occurrence for accidents to happen.

Dante wasn’t planned but she opted to keep him after his birth than give him up for adoption, which she had considered a lot. Decay took a year from active service for maternity leave with pariah Julieta helping. This allowed her time to bond and care for her son, but also look into other areas of the Watcher Casita, such as the education area where she properly met Abscond Luisa, who had two twin herself and Fracture Alma, who had three 19 year old triplets.

Dante was 5 when he gained his own door and gift, enabling him the ability of Mediumship and it’s sub-gifts of how to handle the spirits of the dead.

Dante was the first to summon and interact with his Bisabuelo Pedro who was the kindest spirit he found so when his mother was busy and his baby siters were occupied, sometimes he would summon Pedro to play with him. When bad ghosts appeared, Pedro would protect his bisnieto; channelling his gift to vanquish the spirits on his behalf while trying to keep the child obvious to the danger and fear that the bad ghosts could inflict.

Dante loves playing with his mother’s hair, so even when she’s struggling, he wants to be really helpful. More so when her arms are acting up. He helps her put her arms to charge at night and to help them on in the morning

He had three different outfits, all blue in relation to his mother’s family’s colours. He loves wearing a blur ruana with friendly little ghosts on his Variant-Tia Wanderer made. He enjoyed the time with his Variant-Abuelo, Stray Agustin and looked up to him as a role model

Dante’s gift:

Mediumship

Evocation, Spectrokinesis, Communing, Spirit Summoning.

It was considered he naturally had retroactive immortality but no-one was willing to test such an idea and Decay wouldn’t allow it.

Yo yo yo, about that new housebroken drop! The plot, it thickens! But, like, what about Felix and Augustin versus Pedro? Like, can't they not see him, since his family only sees him due to the animal qualities? So just imagine Juli and Pepa being like "This is my Papa," and Felix and Augustin being like, "Babe, that's an empty slab of wall, there's nothing in front of it. You mentioned your Papa is dead, do we need to get you therapy for him as well as your Mama abandoning you?" I just think the Pedro and husbands interactions would be funny until they have a system. And then the family has kids, and Pedro is seen by them too, so Felix and Augustin are even MORE out of the loop, since more people can converse with Abuelo. Also, are the kids still going into the Encanto ever, so that Augustin and Felix meet them, or are the men sent by curiosity to find the Cave of Wonders that Casita has become?

Indeed it does!

As for that, yeah, they can’t see him 😭😭 They Fr thought that Julieta and Pepa were joking, until Casita and the triplets proved he was actually there. They’re both aware Pedro is there; they can’t see his body, but they know he’s around whenever there’s a golden butterfly nearby, so there’s that.

I will say though, Pedro can make himself visible, he just doesn’t do it often. It takes a lot of energy and magic to do, and it Pedro does it too often, not even the triplets or kids will be able to see him, at least for a couple hours. Only on special occasions, like the girls’ weddings, birthday’s etc etc. The only time where he doesn’t have to exert himself to make himself visible to everyone is on the kids’ ceremony, and that’s cause he has direct access to the magic.

Analysis: Disney Princesses were never bad role models

Like a lot of people I grew up with Disney movies. Snow White even gave me my love of apples (true story!). My favorite was Beauty and the Beast because I thought "Belle looks like me and we are fond of the same thing." Even so, like an awful lot of people I thought the Disney princesses were weak girls only waiting for Prince Charming to save them without doing anything to help their situation.

I was wrong though: Disney Princesses were never weak or dumb! They're great characters with deep and various personalities! I'm here to argue that point to you in analysing the old ones + Ariel because she's known as the first strong one + Rapunzel because she's an interesting case.

Sorry, it's a really long essay... And thank you to my proofreader for proofreading it this time, you're the best!

Snow White case

First one to be analysed... Snow White... Aka "The one I can't stand". Yet I'll defend her because I don't like her but I can't let people talk badly about her!

To defend her, anyone would have replaced the movie into its context as if it was the only way to defend the character to be a bad one. From what I know of and searched, at that time most women were housewives and Snow White gives them some credits so of course it can be used to defend the movie, I won't deny it! However that would mean she's still a bad role model today and I don't think it helps her case. Intention doesn't matter when one criticizes something so I won't talk about the context and you'll see I don't need it to defend Snow White!

Yes, Snow White is a kind princess that talks to animals. We even see her in the beginning talking to a nestling that fell from its nest to help it like we help a human child. We also see the animals of the forest helping her many times like cleaning the house with her. How thoughtful of them!

Yet no, she's not weak of dumb. During the movie, she even do some sensible things as:

Fleeing when meeting the prince when he approached her at the start of the movie

When the hunter tells her to flee she is trying to understand what is happening and actually understand once he pronounces the queen's name.

Yet she hesitates, clearly wondering if it is true, but ends up fleeing because she knows her step-mother and knows she's capable of trying to kill her.

When she starts acting as a mother to the dwarfs she's kind, smiling, but strict enough to ask them for proof when they tell her they washed their hands. Seeing it not being the case, she pushes them to wash them if they want to eat. Which is what a good mom would do, to teach some manners to their children.

Before that, when arriving at the Dwarfs' house she starts cleaning because she thinks doing that will maybe make them want her to stay. The girl is interested and clever! A bit rude too, you don't clean people's houses without asking permission.

Then when the dwarfs discover her, after guessing (correctly) their names she starts to negotiate so that they would permit her to stay in their home. She even answers every concern of them with actual good arguments, such as The Queen not having any way to know where she is, and suggesting she could cook. Well, she showed how useful she was in cleaning so cooking wouldn't be a problem for her either. I can understand they agree. I tell you, negotiating well is a quality requiring intelligence!

At some point she laughs at Grumpy for being... Well Grumpy! It's his name and when she guessed it she made a big angry voice to joke about it. Good humor is a sign of intelligence!

Snow White is a sensible woman then, who takes smart decisions and thinks before taking them. I'm pretty sure that, if she ever existed in our world, she would fight fake news. Actually the dwarfs are the stupid ones! Yes guys... It's water so, yes, it's wet.

I'll conclude my part on Snow White in talking about her supposed weakness. To do so, I'll talk about an interesting part of the movie: Snow White eating the apple the transformed Queen gives her.

What I didn't remember (since each time I wanted to watch it as an adult I quickly stopped because of how I couldn't stand her) is how Snow White was basically forced to eat that apple. And wouldn't have if the circumstances had ever been different. I mean, if the animals didn't attack The Queen for example, Snow White wouldn't have made her enter the house to help her recover. Actually she refused at first to eat the apple but The Queen argued a lot, insisted, and I honestly know a lot of people at her place who would have been confused enough to be convinced. It's how conspiracy theories as the flat earth one works! Snow White was convinced by the same way that conspiracy theories work: a lot of arguments and not letting your opponent think so they can be convinced in the moment. Some will stay convinced, others won't because they would have thought about it afterwards or simply done some research.

Snow White shows little girls they should learn to adapt, looking for proof when in front of a claim, and not acting without thinking before! I say it's good to teach them.

About personality Snow White is a sensible 14 years old girl that can be kind or strict depending on what is needed. She can act, like when she makes the animals go away from the disguised Queen or when she decides to clean the house so the dwarfs would want her to stay, and she mostly stays positive.

Cinderella Case

For Cinderella I'll try to avoid talking too much about Cinderella III where she's at her best since we can see her use her cleverness and bravery. It's the best of the trilogy and where she's the most active but that movie was made to respond to the critics about her being too passive in the first movie.

I thinking of the aftermath of Villain Julieta once they escape Dolores & Mariano go somewhere else though Mirabel and them write letters to each other. Isabela and Mirabel go to some where far away get an apartment together and start their new lives together. Isa gets some therapy and is making progress but still has things to work through. I imagine Isa doesn't cook or go into the kitchen since it gives her a lot of stress with what Julieta did to her. Isa both to do something and possibly as an outlet starts painting and doing other artistic stuff and turns out to be really good and becomes an artist full time and becomes very successful. Isa probably has nightmares but thankfully Mirabel is there to help her and comfort her when it happens and they are becoming less common the more time goes on. Isa now finally gets to be with Mirabel and drift off to sleep hearing Mirabel's heart beat.

😍 their happy ending at last! I love it. I imagine art must help her cope with the violence she suffered, so much of her work seems red and cruel and angry, which is why people are surprised to learn she's a very pretty and funny girl when she's relaxed, teasing her poor sister, teaching beginner artists a thing or two when they need help, taking care of her plants and giving all of them names and different special treatments depending on their needs. Hiding her magic used to be difficult, but channeling her pain into a more easy-to-control outlet, like art, has helped her keep it under control, though she still uses it a lot in private. It's weird having to hide it, though. She never had to do it before. It feels stiffling, which is why I imagine she might want to live close to the forest, where she can be safe and free. Maybe a small cottage in the outskirts of a picturesque little town, eventually? Where she can be 100% no one she doesn't trust is going to come any closer. Mirabel does all the cooking, and she's pretty good, but she also goes out of her way to try things Julieta never even knew about, as to avoid reminding Isa (or herself) or their mothers' cooking. And Isa only ever goes into the kitchen if she absolutely has to, yes, but even then it's getting easier with time. I imagine she'll be doing the cooking as well in a few years. As for nightmares - yes, Isabela struggles with those a lot. It's not odd for her to wake up suddenly and then struggle to go back to sleep, which leaves her exhausted in the morning. Mirabel insists that she wake her up when that happens, but Isabela refuses to, though most times, the movement wakes her up anyway. Isabela may be the one who needs help, but Mirabel feels just as comforted by having her in her arms, safe and sound with her, where no one can hurt her, just holding her as she cries and sobs and repeats over and over that their mother hated her.

MUN: S! Members applauded S for diving in head-first with two memorable new characters that we already love. From the scrappy Angel to the dignified Darius, we can’t wait to see what stories you tell here!

CHARACTER: SCAMP! From the first time he popped up on the dash, we’ve simply been obsessed with J’s Scamp! He may have just joined us, but he’s already up to some exciting new plots and we just love to see it. Welcome to Swynlake, Scamp!

Honorable Mention: PACIFICA! Pacifica had a huge month, finally escaping her parents and exposing them for their shady ways! Way to go, Pacifica, and props to L for executing a thrilling and dramatic plot.

THREAD: THE MERCREW’S GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS! We love to see a community of Magicks come together like this. While Bruce, Aquata, Alana, Gil, and Gabriella each have their own reasons for being there, we’re excited to see where this goes next.

TASK: HARVEST WITH THE HAUNTLEYS | FOODIES! Snow, Cass, and Julieta are such a power trio, and we loved to see them team up for some fall food talk. More of this, please!!!

THE FOREST IS NORMAL! BUT STILL CLOSED: Thanks to Ella and her deal with Grandmother Willow, it seems the forest has retreated from its invasion of the town. There’s no need to worry about creeping vines or meddlesome chipmunks anymore. However, the forest remains closed and requires a permit to access— failing to comply can result in hefty fines!

PETITION TO REOPEN THE FOREST: DENIED, Despite almost unanimously passing by the Board, the Petition to Reopen the Forest has been denied by the acting mayor. NOTE: Mayors have always had veto powers on petitions, so Eboshi isn’t technically overstepping, but it is rarely actually exercised.

NEW SHERIFF/DEPUTY: Announcing Swynlake PD’s newest dynamic duo: Tom Harrington (Sheriff) and Maximus Keaton (Deputy)! They will be replacing Clayton now that he’s skipped town. Feel free to have your characters talk about it and hit up C and L to plot!

TASKS

EVIL TWIN: Oftentimes, your character is the hero of their own story… but what if they were the villain? Make an aesthetic and a short description of what it might be like if your character made different choices, went down a different path, and became a spooky version of themselves! (Aesthetic + 300 words)

OCTOBER 4-11: BELLE’S FOREST SIT-IN Come be part of a peaceful protest to show the town’s displeasure with the closure of the forest. Characters will be occupying the forest without permits. There will be snacks and drinks.

OCTOBER 11-18: A TOTALLY NORMAL PENNY FORRESTER CHARITY CONCERT Wow, it’s so wonderful that Penny is donating her time to perform for a good cause! It’d be a shame if something… happened. Something like a peaceful but extremely theatrical protest against the suspension of the elections… (Organized by Phineas and Pip. Because of course it was). Canonically on October 14.

OCTOBER 18-25: BOARD MEETING Between the closure of the forest and the postponement of the elections, Swynlakers have a lot to be opinionated about! Come make your voice heard. Canonically October 19.

OCTOBER 25-NOVEMBER 1: HALLOWEEN FUN! Get in the Halloween spirit with Swynlake’s many offerings…

Town Hall Trick or Treat: A family-friendly Halloween bash with tables from local volunteers and businesses giving out candy. Dress up in your favorite costume and bring the family! Pixie’s Halloween Haunt: For the nightlife crowd, Pixie’s will have its annual Halloween bash and costume contest! Go all out for a chance to be crowned the winner, and check out the club’s selection of signature themed drinks. Emira and Kleopatra’s Danse Macabre: Come frolic and dance until you’re dead at Emira and Kleopatra’s danse macabre, held in the PrideU dorm common room. Plot: Ting-Ting found out that she's pregnant -- gasp! After puking on the Ferris wheel at the fall carnival with Hercules (and also not getting her period) she had a hunch, but confirmed it with a test on Sept. 17 (John's birthday). So far, she's only told Hera, Su (and Mei) and Snow.

NORTHWEST MANSION HEIST

Plot: This thread is the culmination of a lot of self paras and plotting over the last few months as Pacifica and Ollie work together to steal the evidence they need to finally hold the Northwests accountable for their actions

PHENOMENAL CAT

Plot: To make sure that Aunt Cass isn't alone, Hiro used his skills with robotics and AI to create a cat for her named Boba

MERM GROUP THERAPY

Plot: Bruce launched his merfolk therapy group! Aquata, Gil, Alana, and Gabriella all attended and they covered ground rules and then began discussing an anonymous online submission box where merpeople could share their concerns. They're a bit nervous about the security of the whole thing, but willing to take the risk.

KIM QUITS SSHIIT!

Characters and Muns Involved: Annie, Kim

Plot: After being sent on a wild goose chase by Annie to investigate the residents of Southern Isles, Kim finally put her foot down and told Annie she wasn't going to do it anymore. Annie didn't take it well.

POST-DEMON REBUILD

Characters and Muns Involved: Hercules, Aquata, Merida, Ren, Cora

Plot: The gym has been undergoing renovations following the PanDemonium attack, and the withdrawal of the forest from the pool area (bye otters ily). Everything should now be back to normal and classes have returned to their normal schedule!

GIL’S EX-LOVE COMES TO TOWN/THE RAS GETS EXTRA HELP ACTUALLY

Characters and Muns Involved: Gil, Jim, Roz

Plot: After a mission gone mostly wrong, Gil asks the RAS for extra help in Swynlake. Roz approves the request and Gil is shocked to find that his former flame/the spy he worked most closely with in NYC is now in Swynlake. TLDR: Leo is in town! Staying at the Tipton for now! Getting a lot of coffee with Gil... what does it mean??

Plot: Penny has started a film club! People should join this if ur character likes film <3

ENCHANTRA COMES TO CALL

Characters and Muns Involved: Ella, Tiana, Aurora

Plot: After a disagreement about Willa’s education, Enchantra grew hostile, branching out into town in protest. Though her friends offered to help any way they could, Ella came to a compromise with Grandmother Willow, setting the forest back to normal as Ella moved into her own home closer to the forest itself.

BELLE’S REPERCUSSIONS FOR ACCIDENTALLY OPENING A PORTAL TO THE UNDERWORLD (OOPS!)

Characters Involved: Belle, Tibbs, Eilonwy, Alana, San, Mads, Berlioz, Hades, Toulouse, Ashitaka

Plot: Belle’s personal life has exploded in the wake of the Underworld opening. Her husband’s brother almost died and he won’t speak with her. Hades is disappointed in her. Her best friend, father figure, and other friends were injured. Her best friend, Berlioz, whom she told that it was her fault, is pissed at her now. She is trying to repent by throwing herself into getting the forest reopened but that’s not going well either…not to mention, Ashitaka showed up on her doorstep, causing even more problems…

BELLE GETS FIRED

Characters Involved: Belle, Agustin, James, Simba, Rose, Gil

Plot: As if summoning a demon wasn’t enough, now Belle has been fired from InterPride for insubordination. Her summer long crusade to help a cairn of Stone Trolls has been thwarted at every turn, building to a blow up with her boss. What’s her next move going to be?

CANDACE AND MIRABEL KISS

Characters Involved: Candace, Mirabel

Plot: At Phineas and Ed’s back to school party, Candace and Mirabel made out on the dance floor and then went back to Mirabel’s place for a hook up…except Mirabel started crying. Things got awkward and though Mirabel has apologized and explained she was upset about her ex…things are still weird

The Family Madrigal Head canons!!

- Camilo used all pronouns but they usually use he/they

- every cousin is queer

- mirabel is pan, luisa and dolores are bi, isabella is lesbian, bruno is homoromantic asexual, camillo is genderqueer and doesn't know about his sexuality yet but just says he "isn't straight" lol

- nobody has truly forgiven alma yet for how she treated bruno and mirabel (and that's actually one of the few critics from the movie i had: it wasn't long enough to show how they could've forgiven her or at least start to heal) not saying she didn't traumatize everyone who is genetically related to her, but mirabel and bruno were definitely discriminated against all the time (bruno: bad luck gift and mirabel: no gift)

- casita, after dolores got her gift, made all of the rooms in the house soundproof. so dolores room is 100% soundproof and as long as other's doors are shut, they dolores can't hear anyone in their room. (im pretty sure this is somewhat cannon because the only reason she heard mirabel tell her dad about the vision is bc her door was cracked and dolores was out of her room. so)

- Bruno has major anxiety (honestly what madrigal doesn't) and depression disorder. he def also has ocd and paranoia

- mirabel tried to run away after not reviving her door but her and bruno left within 5 minutes of each other (bruno in a temporary panic and mirabel in an upset sprint). mirabel eventually passed out somewhere in the forest due to emotional, mental, and physical fatigue and bruno came across her while just pacing the forest deciding on whether or not he should go back. bruno carried mirabel back to casita after finding her and casita helped sneak both of them in and bruno out mirabel to bed and then asked casita if he could live in the walls to help continue to look after mirabel

- antonio wanted mirabel to go with him because he was scared and because he felt bad and wanted mirabel to also experience what it was like getting a door although she never will :,)

- the kids (dolores, luisa, camilo, isabella (and every now and then bruno) have little sleepovers / group therapy sessions after casita is rebuilt(the only reason antonio is not involved is because he is always passed out by the time they make it to mirabels room and they don't want to wake him)

- bruno sick!fic of 5+1 times that dolores helped bruno while he was sick and 1 time bruno helped dolores while she was ( def will be writing this at some point)

- julieta actually only cooks for when someone in town needs healing food or someone in casita does. other than that? she doesn't like to cook because she once used it as a hobby and get away from alma but now it's stressful. agustín is actually the one who cooks a lot (when his wife isn't having to heal him) because he grew up in a large family and always helped his mama cook :) now, though, because alma has laid off some pressure, she has begun to enjoy cooking again

- pepa usually gets angry in private and her room actually caters to that and allows her to become angry because her powers are somehow gone when she enters her room. like they just don't work anymore lol. although she still gets angry outisde of her room, she lets out most of it when she returns to it

- luisa's room is a bunch of weightlifting stuff and after casita was rebuilt, it was still some weightlifting stuff but turned into a de-stressing bedroom and she always has things that are usually ads online to de-stress (like lavender oils, fidget toys, etc)

- isabella started to wear different things and mismatched things after casita was rebuilt and gave any clothes she didn't want anymore to camillo (who actually tried them on right infront of isabella and allowed her to do their make up and everyone in the family called them very pretty)

- camilos room before the destruction of casita was one with a lot of mirrors and clothing but other than that it was a relatively normal room but after casita was rebuilt it was one with a lot of new clothes, some mirrors, and little knickknacks that camilo had collected over the years and things that are on display gifted to them from mirabel

- whenever the family is around dolores or when they know she is having a bad day, they whisper and always try not to fight. if they do, they usually politely excuse themselves and yell at eachother in a bedroom

- after one particularly bad day that ends with dolores passed out from all of the noises, the family starts learning SSL (spanish sign language) so on the days dolores has it really bad, they can all sign (yes dolores learns too)

- bruno's room was the one that changed the most post-casita breaking. he no longer had stairs and his room was actually very nice and relaxing and had windows so he could see behind the house. he made sure to keep the room clean and had an area just for the rats too. he also kept a shelf for his visions and had a specific area just for making them.

- bruno has 'vision' types of prophecies (kinda like jedis ig) where he'll have a prophecy vision out of nowhere (not nearly as visable as when hes doing one purposefully) but he won't be able to make out much and usually will try and finish it and make a green tablet of it when he's able to. suppressing visions gives him migraines that his sisters usually helped him through when he was younger. when bruno went into hiding, though, his migraines got so bad he passed out for 3 days straight due to a constant migraine and so he usually did little visions at night, looking at things like what was for lunch the next day or what presents one of the kids would get for their birthdays so he wouldn't have to have a major migraine like that again

- when mirabel didn't get her gift, camilo was wrecked because he legitimately thought he used up all the magic and mirabel, the next day after being returned to her bed by bruno, had to promise him that it wasn't his fault and that he didn't use up all of the magic

- bruno - major insomniac. when he disappeared, julieta was distressed bc she was so used to making him cookies at night to help him sleep. although he 'left' julieta continued to make then anyway and eventually realized one or two would be missing. so she always held on to the hope bruno was at least nearby and always made a small batch and 'hid' them in the corner of the kitchen just in case

- camilos anxiety is especially bad on days where they do multiple shifts. it got so bad once that he had to go to mirabel to make sure that they were real and alive and mirabel had to comfort him and calm them down from their panic attack

- bruno is so so so so soooooo touchstarved. after casita was rebuilt he really wouldn't let anyone but his sisters and mirabel touch him for a solid 3-5 months :,)

- camilo helps julieta or agustín whenever they're in the kitchen cooking because he's able to use it as a de-stressed and not have to think about much other than making sure the ingredient measurements are correct and he doesn't burn anything

- mirabel sews outfits for the rats for the telanovelas

and thinking of all the times when i hated myself and my face for what it was doing to me and hated it so deeply, and i needed her to take care of me

i have been thinking about the day of my last scheduled therapy appointment when before i was meant to go my mum said something about how my skin was looking much better than it did, and how it sent me so down... i told her to call gary and tell him i was sick while i cried in my room.. when she came in and tried to reason with me i remember sobbing and covering my face with my sheet, and she said, ‘well it does!’ and i said, it doesn’t MATTER!

being sick the past couple of days- i can only crave for my mums care even though ju is ready and willing to care for me... when julieta asked me last night whens the last time she saw you naked, when you were depressed maybe? didn’t she have to bathe you

and i said i would never let her do that even if i needed it, and wanted it

i say to julieta, remember, i had to force them to tell me that they loved me

talking to ekow today about how i feel the need to move to montreal almost to jumpstart my 20s, because i don’t feel like i am pushing myself enough here to make the meaningful connections that will help me grow as an artist/as a person. but the comfort i have here is so rooted in receiving love i didnt have, tangibly, for so long, it feels like such an abandonment to leave it, and so heartbreaking- when not nearly enough of it has been absorbed into me. when mitski says ‘mom, i’m tired, can i sleep at your house tonight? mom, is it alright, if i stay for a year or two?’ its the feeling of needing to be taken care of and wanting to absorb it so to better function out there, in the open, to suck it all up, to feel capable, and big. how is mothers love and care so powerful and healing and addictive all in one

and later, we talk about my book in my bag- women, eating, and identity and the ideas within: how the linkages in reasoning of disordered eating patterns are intergenerational, and these are inherited things.. talking about how could they not be? when the connection between mother and child is so closely knit, if not strong, then power within it, power of something

constantly thinking about how much she gives. i think about how much every mother gives and has given. i think about what bridget said once about how your autonomy is lost, how she found it so important to take care of herself when she could. it makes me know that having children is not something i can ever take lightly. i have to be healed, completely, and ready to give it all away- not expect the same in return, although i will have much, much joy - but not feel it is that equal - parenting will be lonely and hard but also magic and joyous

thinking about me and julietas baby together and how it would be, although i haven’t delved that far into it yet.. i only know she is a good partner because she is so calm, reassuring, and rational, when sometimes i, like lucy dacus says, dig my heels in

to move away i have to forgive! i have to remember the importance of all of this and all the work that has been done. all the pain that i have inflicted on her, especially when i was so sad. and it hurt her so much because she didn’t know what to do

how you can never know until you know. i want to talk to alice about this, about what she dreamed jasper would be like, if she dreamed about him before he came to her. i think a lot about nirrimi’s writing about alba and about how she knew her before she came to her, how she had been dreaming for years of the daughter she would have.

how my mum always said i she knew i would have a beautiful voice, that i knew how to sing, because she sang to me as a baby, she was convinced that was the truth

you have to hold on so tight! i had so much resentment about feeling like that wasn’t the case for me, i won’t let it happen with my baby. but i know she did what she could for me. and her mother taught her the best she could too. there is pain there, same with my dad, and i carry it all for them on my back daily, not knowing where to place it. conceptualize a place in your new home where you are free from it, not entirely rid of, because it makes you, but maybe you leave some of it in this house. it doesn’t have you be mine. all i have to do is forgive them, and then let them see me

Decay AU | Dante Madrigal

He was a two days later than expected but rather small but born via a C-section as he was fully breech and tangled in his umbilical cord.

Dante wasn’t planned but she opted to keep him after his birth than give him up for adoption, which she had considered a lot. Decay took a year from active service for maternity leave. This allowed her time to bond and care for her son, but also look into other areas of the Watcher Casita, such as the education area where she properly met Abscond Luisa, who had two twin herself and Fracture Alma, who had three 19 year old triplets.

Dante was 5 when he gained his own door and gift, enabling him the ability of Mediumship and it’s sub-gifts of how to handle the spirits of the dead.

I wonder how Brulores would work in an AU where the triplets used to have a thing going on. Like, would Pepa be more open to the relationship then, since she has experience with incestuous relationships? Or well she find it even worse? Worry that her brother might just be using her daughter because of their similarities or something horribly creepy like that?

Oh my god. MAN. What a concept. Holy shit I'm dead that situation would have poor Pepa feeling SO CONFUSED she's out there freaking out and clinging to Félix like a terrified koala because she IS a terrified koala, somebody get this poor lady some tea and therapy because she did not sign up for this.

I don't think Bruno would be attracted to Dolores because she reminds him of her mother. If anything, I think her quiet demeanor would remind him of Julieta, maybe, but he's not really thinking about Julieta when he's with Dolores. He's thinking about Dolores. He's in love with Dolores specifically and has been over his sisters for years now. I like the idea that both Bruno and Julieta got over whatever they had when they were young, moved on and now are comfortable enough to joke about it between them (or were comfortable before Bruno started to have a thing with Dolores). But Pepa never got over it. It's not she doesn't love Félix or that she still wants to be with them, but while Bruno and Julieta simply moved on, for Pepa it was a more traumatic experience. She feels like there were a lot of loose ends, a lot of unresolved problems and fears and frustrations that she needs to repress and bottle up and has been resenting Bruno for at least two and a half decades now. That's half their lives. She also projects her problems with Julieta onto Bruno, so, yeah she's just scapegoating the hell out of him. I'm not sure what exactly the problem could be, but I imagine she's horribly ashamed and embarrassed, angry towards Bruno (and secretly at Julieta too, but she won't admit it to herself), angry at herself, scared of their mother ever finding out, and generally frustrated at them for moving on and "leaving her behind", without helping her move on as well. They look like they're so fine. Like they're perfectly okay. So fucking alright. Meanwhile she is the unhappy disaster, the messy one who feels like, maybe she was far more invested in their relationship than they ever were. Maybe she was truly in love but they were only playing a game. Maybe she was fucking stupid all along. And she never really talked about it with them or anyone, not even Félix. And it's not like she's always thinking about it, but when Bruno and Dolores' relationship comes to light, it brings back all of the anger, the hurt, the betrayal... there's also the question of why they broke up, exactly. I assume they just realized it wasn't a realistic plan. It couldn't be a good way to live. Their mother would kill them. They made a mature, intelligent, practical decision, but the breakup was still messy on Pepa's part and she's still angry. So, she's internalized the idea that inc3st is always a bad idea, but with a lot more emotion. Bruno could have a more nuanced understanding of the situation and decided to give this a second chance, this time with Dolores. Pepa doesn't see it that way.

Ahhh anon you ask a VERY interesting question omg i don't know if I can tackle it because it's A LOT. It would take a VERY LONG fic to explore Pepa's thoughs, AND Bruno's AND Dolores' AND Félix's because there's no way that man is being left out of the conversation. And possibly Julieta's too. ahh. mmmm. h hhh , ah ahh I don't know. So many ideas ahh.

Ok ok so Pepa is Not Okay. Bruno is surprisingly Okay-ish. So is Dolores. Dolores, I imagine, doesn't know what happened between the triplets in their youth, because they all agreed not to tell anyone without the consent of all three of them, and Pepa still hasn't ever agreed to say a word, even though Bruno REALLY thinks Dolores should know about this very vital piece of information, oh god he's keeping secrets and lying to his partner he does NOT like lying to his partner but his partner's mother is going to kill him if he speaks up.

Mm I think Pepa would project her own insecurities into Bruno and accuse him of, like you said, "using" her daughter, because she doesn't believe he's over their relationship, when in reality she is the one who couldn't move on. Poor Bruno has a lot of insecurities of his own, so hearing Pepa say that sends him down a spiral of shame because, now that you mention it, Dolores does have her mother's eyes. Maybe Pepa IS right and he's just deluded himself into believing he loves Dolores when in reality he's a pervert obsessed with his sister etc etc we all heard the story. Obviously untrue. Bruno is a good guy. He's not hurting Dolores in any way. Julieta, bless her heart, does believe that Bruno loves Dolores genuinely. She doesn't think he's doing anything malicious - she knows her brother is a good man. At the same time, she's concerned about the age gap, because even though Dolores is an adult she's still 28 years younger than them, she may not be making the smartest decisions, and the triplets did break up for a reason. It wasn't a good life plan to be together in that way. She thinks Bruno has a responsability to end their relationship, but she also knows how difficult it is, and she hasn't seen him this happy in decades, and he really really loves her, so Julieta is super patient with him. Maybe a little bit too patient. She has a heart, too.

What else? Ah, yeah so Dolores is highkey terrified of her mother. She doesn't want to be electrocuted ok?? And we already went over her thing: she's scared of being seen because in the Madrigal household to be seen is to be scrutinized and punish for every tiny flaw and failure and she doesn't think it's worth it etc etc. So now her relationship with Bruno is forced into the spotlight and she is NOT AT ALL preppared to deal with this, ESPECIALLY not ready to face her mother. She knows Bruno is keeping something secret from her, and she's horribly curious but she also can't quite be mad at him. Pepa will try to talk to her and convince her that she's being manipulated, used, that she should feel disgusting and ashamed - she's really projecting again, and it's so fucking painful for Dolores. These are the cruelest, least loving things her mother ever said to her. Pepa and Félix get into more than one fight over the way she treats Dolores. Félix is an amazing dad but he's also Highkey Concerned and kinda wants to break Bruno's nose, but also knows he needs to keep a cool head and hear his daughter out, not because he thinks she'll convince him but because he knows he needs to understand her perspective well before taking any sort of action. Dolores obviously tells him she's in love, I imagine he'll be surprised to see her open up so much, because she was never one to wear her heart on her sleeve, and it would take a lot A LOT to convince him to accept his daughter's relationship, but this may be the first step. Realizing this is something serious and important and that, in any case, they should convince them with, idk Facts and Logic rather than breaking them up by force. He comes to understand very quickly that Bruno isn't being malicious, either. He thinks he's horribly irresponsable and he lost a lot of respect for him, but he feels more pity and frustration towards him than anything else. Like, idk a very ugly and sick dog. Still better than the way Pepa sees him. And he DOES put a lot of pressure on him to Fucking Stop but he's a eeeeehhh he's a little bit nicer I guess. And he doesn't yell at his daughter, angrily drag her forward by her wrist, or lock her up in her soundproof room. Important differences. Yeah because Pepa starts to get very difficult when she's in her irrational unreasonable state. She'll threaten to destroy Dolores' belongings, shame her, scare her, grab her... I mean it's not irredemeable but it's not pretty. But Dolores would lose a lot of trust in her, and she'll start to avoid her, or keep very quiet around her, and Pepa is too angry to feel her heart break.

it would take a lot for her to slow down, use her head, think about what she's doing and try to do better. I think she'd open up to Dolores about her past, eventually, and explain why she feels so strongly about the whole affair. And Dolores' reply is simply "I think you need to talk to them". Which Pepa does. The slow road to recovery begins. I still don't know how the fuck they're gonna convince anyone that, trust me bro it didn't work out the first time but it's totally fine this time around, dude believe me. but i have faith in them.
