You know, Casper van Diem was a perfect casting for Starship Troopers, that guy just straight up looked like an action figure. I don't mean a person they would model one after, an actual action figure.
He unironically looks like his teeth would twinkle when he smiles. But you want to talk about the real god tier casting decision in that movie? Jake Busey as Ace. Dude looks like he was grown in a petri dish for the sole purpose of playing the ultimate assclown.

Starship Troopers : MI Power Armour
Inspired by @howlingday's weapon posts.
Jaune chuckled as Ruby pouted about having been caught having impure thoughts about her first friend at Beacon. They pair started to pass past a fairly large booth when...
????: Hey! You two! I noticed you looking about, check out what the Mobile Infantry has to offer!
Jaune and Ruby turned a little shocked to be called out. What greeted them was a well weathered, and scared man... oozing authority.
Ruby: Can we help you?
Rico: No, the question is... Can I help you?
Jaune: (Confusion obvious on his face) I don't follow.
Rico: It's a couple questions, I have for you.
Ruby: Question? I don't think...
Jaune: It would be impolite not to at least listen to the questions.
Rico: Good man. First, take a look and tell me what you think of MI Power Armour?
Jaune: That looks pretty cool, actually? How much?
Ruby: Jaune? You already have armour! We're only here to find you a ranged option.
Jaune: But look at it! I mean it covers even more of my body, it has a rocket launcher, and a mini-gun on shoulder mounts!
Rico: (Chuckling) That's not all.
Jaune: It has a JET PACK!
Ruby: Jaune... that is NOT grimm in that picture.
Jaune: Ruby... rocket launcher... mini-gun... jetpack... this is so cool.
Ruby: (Sighing) You said you had two questions for us. What's the second one?
Jaune: Who cares! Where can I purchase this armour?
Rico: We can provide it to you FREE of charge... just sign this.
Rico hands Jaune and Ruby tablets, featuring minuscule text and fingerprint scanners.
Jaune: What's all this?
Rico: Just a simple service contract.
Ruby looks at Rico suspiciously, but before she can act, Jaune presses his thumb against the scanner. The beep that sounds, causes Ruby's mind to fill with dread.
Jaune: So?
Rico: Welcome to the Mobile Infantry, citizen.
Jaune: Huh? Citizen? I'm already a citizen of Va...
Rico: There are NO VALEANS in my Army! Just Troopers! Camacho! Trig! We have a new recruit... get him geared up!
Ruby makes a grab for Jaune as two armoured woman step out of the back area and hook their arms under Jaune's arms, lifting his feet from the floor.
Ruby: Jaune! You can't do this! This is not right... it's... it's... a Vacuoing!
Jaune: Um, where are we going?
Rico: Training, and then we take the fight to the Bugs!
Jaune: Bugs? You mean Grimm, right?
Rico: No Trooper... Bugs. It's a Good Day to Die.
Jaune starts to futilely struggle as Ruby watches in horror as Jaune is carried towards the curtained off area of what she now could see was a recruiting booth.
????: General.
Rico: Yes? Headmaster?
Ozpin: Please let my student go.
Rico: He signed...
Jaune/Ruby: Thank the brothers!
Ozpin: I know he did, yet he still has three years of training at my school to complete. Which means you can't as Ms Rose so eloquently put it... Vacuo him.
Jaune/Ruby: Yes!
Rico: I see, he's a student. Trig. Comacho put him down. My apologies Headmaster... I'll get a 12-40-A to release him...
Ozpin: That will not be necessary.
Ruby/Jaune: Huh?
Ozpin: This is a valuable lesson for you, Mr Arc. Always read before signing. So General three years and you can return to pick him up.
Rico: Understood. See you on the bounce, sir.
Rico, Trig and Camacho all salute the headmaster before leaving.
Ruby: You can't!
Jaune: Headmaster?
Ozpin: You signed a contract, Mr Arc... and what are contracts?
Jaune: (Suddenly filled with dread) A legally agreed to promise.
Ozpin: Correct. So for all intents and purposes you gave your word to serve as a member of the United Federation's Mobile Infantry.
Jaune: And an Arc never breaks their word.
Ruby was panicking, thinking about Jaune facing whatever those things were in the second picture... but more importantly... what Pyrrha was going to do to her when she found out. As she was going through her crisis, Ozpin gently patted Jaune on his shoulder.
Ozpin: I'll leave you two to enjoy the rest of your day.
Ozpin walks into the crowd and vanishes.
Jaune: (Notices Ruby's terror filled face) Ruby, are you okay?
Ruby: (Hyperventilating) I'm so dead... no, I'm more than just dead... I'm dead, dead, and dead again!

Starship Troopers’ original motion picture soundtrack will be released on vinyl for the first time on August 4 via Varese Sarabande. The score, composed by Basil Poledouris (RoboCop, Conan the Barbarian), has been remastered.
Up for pre-order at $38, the 2xLP album is pressed on black vinyl. It's housed in a gatefold jacket featuring artwork by Malachi Ward with a fold-out poster and liner notes by director Paul Verhoeven and Poledouris’ daughter, Zoë.

Three songs for The Silver Chronicles, Life, Despair & Monsters and an Original Work of minet. Also I'm putting my WIP Wednesdays on hold, as I'm working on my newest "Intro Post" and some Masterlists. Anyway, listen and read below the cut:
Silva and Azriel's mother-daughter relationship in Silva's Hope is one of the key turning points of the fic (the underlying themes of motherhood not withstanding); it causes Silva to reevaluate her standing with both Eden's Gate and the Resistance in Hope County and motivates her to take a much more proactive rogue approach, seeking to push both factions towards a peace without spilling anymore bloodshed as there had already been (before she was just trying taking out her grief, pain and her bottled up trauma onto the cult that was similar to the two that took everything from her, and hoping to get killed in the process, a roundabout way to end her own suffering without dishonoring/abandoning the sacrifices made to get her to safety). It also gives her the chance to acknowledge and accept the death of her daughter Persephone; something she's been guilt-ridden about throughout her grief, never allowing her to make peace with it. Silva's upbringing was shaky, her childhood spent with a man who's intentions towards her were anything but pure, and her adolescence spent with the father she wished she had before things went to hell. Silva sees herself in Azriel; a girl harmed by the zealotry of a cult and denied the affection she needed and craved for until later in her life. Silva hopes to be the mother Azriel can rely on, as well as a fiercer protector. This song is both a mix of Azriel and Silva's perspective (in a way), though it's also Silva echoing promises Paul had told her (when he was a better person) but directed to Azriel this time:

Next song is for an Original WIP of mine called Mario: Mother's Boy, a kind of origin story for one of my OCs from The UnTitledverse, Mario Emmet, a quippy shapeshifting alien that feeds on fear, and his time being raised by his mother, Abigail Emmet, who had spent nearly a century prior masquerading as a human outlaw with the Van Der Linde Gang (and feeding off the terror of her enemies). The fic starts from 1979 and ends in 1988, ending a few months Mario's other story, The Adventures of Debra Holmes and her Amazing Best Friend Mario Emmet, in The UnTitledverse. Throughout the fic, Abigail struggles with raising her very impulsively instinctively driven son, helping him masquerade as a human while teaching him human morals and culture (while retaining some of their better alien traditions that doesn't call for the disregard of other's health), going out on hunts to feed both herself and Mario (all the while terror becomes a harder emotion to elicit from her prey, though thankfully fear isn't difficult for Mario to pry out of his own prey), making decisions that put her son before herself, something that goes against her species very nature, as well as face her own impending mortality as her lifespan shortens. But for Abigail, as long as Mario is prepared to survive in this world without her, then that's enough for her, even if the time they had together was never enough.

Cyberpunk: Corporate Shutdown is a Cyberpunk 2077 fic apart of Life, Despair & Monsters, following Min-Ji "Vasilisa" Choi, codenamed to simply "V" (supposed to be the Roman numeral of "Five"/"Fifth" but in Night City, people are pricks, so that number became a letter), as she navigates through the cesspool that is Night City, the dominion of Arasaka on American soil. She is mentored by both Johnny Silverhand (in her head) and an old companion of his, Rico (who Arasaka had intentions to weaponize him but he managed to escape before they could touch any more organs... though he is fighting off the side effects of Cyberpsychosis due to almost being full-borg, something forced upon him by Arasaka), into the life of a Cyberpunk. They intend to burn down Arasaka and their main enforcer, Adam Smasher, along with it. However, Smasher isn't alone; he has a pet by the name of "Impulse", and it seems Militech want a piece of the action with their newest creation: "Inviticus", so helpfully designed by one Sir Enigma Malvolio.
