This lady hung out on our outdoor string lights for a few days. She was very obliging while I kept the lights on and took pictures and videos of her. (I think she was okay with it, considering the lights lured extra "guests" her way!)
Yes, orbweavers will often build their webs on/around lights. I always have orbweavers on my balcony light, and they're unbothered when it's on. Definitely helps lure in prey! This woman is lovely and I hope she enjoyed her meal :)

the zombie-ant fungus is an insect-pathogenic fungus that infects & controls the muscular system of an ant. it is a member of the ophiocordycipitaceae family, & has received notoriety in popular media after inspiring parts of the hit series & game 'the last of us'. it mainly occurs in tropical forest ecosystems :-)
the big question : will it kill me??
only if you're an ant :-) if you're an ant, the fungus will take control of your body - not your mind, as is commonly falsely believed - force you to climb about a foot off the ground into a tree, latch your jaw into a "death grip" on the vein of a leaf, & sprout from your body !! you will be eaten from the inside.

Hunterslugs are primarily predators, but will also occasionally eat plant matter. They have been recorded eating pill millipedes, snails, other arthropods, and soft-bodied invertebrates such as earthworms. The prey is subdued by injecting a toxin into its flesh. Found in South Africa.
