just started playing Jedi: Survivor and stuff like the beginning of this opening cinematic is so fucking funny to me because they're like showing things on screen and playing scary music as if they're supposed to mean something to me but as somebody that has only seen the 10 films (there is no 11th film, what are you talking about?) and basically nothing else except the game previous to this, none of this visual imagery means fucking anything to me, what is even fucking happening in this. i'm just done with the opening cinematic and i have no fucking clue what's happening.

anyway, i waited so long to get this game bc it wasn't on sale and it had terrible performance reports but it's been a while and it was on sale and i finally felt recovered from my watch of those movies and seeing The Phantom Menace in theaters a few days ago to finally get back into something Star Wars. decided it might as well be this. and since it was Star Wars week this week and this was on sale, just bought the fucking thing and well, here we are. i really loved Jedi: Fallen Order, it was a really fun mix of baby's first Dark Souls meets Star Wars in the gameplay, and the story was fun and interesting if pretty standard as far as structure and plotting, reminded me of why i liked this franchise and what was appealing about it in the first place. i hope this is at least as good.

i'm going to go play it now and hope it's been fixed bc i really don't wanna have to go looking for mods or something.

Ted once said this: "I remember being a little kid, sitting in front of the television and watching Queen perform right over there during Live Aid."

He has a moustache that resembles Freddie Mercury’s. He’s even brought up the whole back story as to why he has it. (Also being told that he shouldn’t have a goatee right before he walks down the aisle and then he decided on this moustache and he never looked back…) in the same speech he says “Since I was a straight fella in Middle America working in sports.” Which leads me to episode 11.

In this episode they mention that Freddie Mercury owned Richmond briefly in 1980 and that he tried having “Fat Bottomed Girls” as the team’s song. And Rebecca tells Keeley and Higgins that her father went to art school with Freddie and that Freddie supposedly said that his greatest talent was “flipping straights”. So young Ted saw Queen perform at Live Aid and then when he was older he grew a moustache similar to Freddie Mercury’s? 🤔

Then we have the song in itself. You know who wrote “Fat Bottomed Girls”? Brian May. Who famously has fantastic, long hair.

Whose hair was brought up for the first time, explicitly, in the show this episode? Trent’s hair. And it was brought up by Ted’s mum. And Ted has previously commented on hair as something he seems to like. (He kind of alluded to Trent’s hair in the second episode of the third season but he never outright states that he likes it. And Trent asks Ted if he assumed that Trent could ride a bike because of his hair and the whole vibe). And I’ve talked about hair in THIS POST but the gist of it is that hair has been referenced before, in relation to romantic couples with Roy and Keeley, Higgins and his wife, Sam and Rebecca.

I can’t verify this quote because I don’t have the magazine. But I’m adding it here anyway:

“Fat Bottomed Girls” is also connected to the song “Bicycle Race”, written by Freddie Mercury, they were released as a single together. And they both reference each other. “Bicycle race” is sometimes viewed as a metaphor for being bi. (Sport as a metaphor, anyone?)

okay. i have finally finished my rewatch and i think i've finally made sense of my thoughts vis a vis ted and jamie's relationship.

i think it's very interesting that the exact moment ted pulls away from being directly involved in jamie's development is when he realizes that what jamie needs is a father. like in season one and arguably the first half of season two he is very hands on in trying to get jamie to realize his potential/the error of his ways but like. things are noticeably different after he sees him and james through the door, and then after wembley they do not really interact again in a meaningful way until mom city. roy literally picks it up as ted sets it down, like. he can't be what jamie needs he doesn't Want to, he can barely even handle what he feels for henry like we see in mom city, he's not picking up a bonus son you know

i really do think it's a very interesting way to handle their relationship specifically. they're so so intertwined in their character arcs and they're constantly setting each other's off but they can't really meet in the middle because ted can't/won't connect with him on that level. they're a son without a father and a father without a son and they can't click into that relationship because ted pulls away from him the minute it becomes clear that's what jamie needs, and we see it come full circle and see why in his monologue during mom city

playing the original Dark Souls 2 again (not Scholar) for the first time in forever, the hormones slider in advanced character creation always kills me. Dark Souls 2 was saying trans rights before any other game in the series.

Can someone please explain to me how Disney’s Descendants had Hades (before he was revealed to be Mal’s father) going from looking like this in the cartoon shorts:

Extremely accurate to his original design. No fire hair since I guess he’s supposed to look more “normal and human-like” but at least the hair style suits him. Looks like a slicked back, sleazy business man hairdo lol.

To frickin this?:

Looks NOTHING like his original design (not even with the hair) and hardly acts like the original Hades (he acts and dresses like a washed up rock star rather than a sleazy, bitter used car salesman, I could tell they tried to make up for it with him being all sarcastic and sassy, but it didn’t have the same effect the original Hades had).

So bizarre to me lmao. I mean, I know the original Hades is hard to replicate since his facial structure borderlines inhuman, but c’mon. I’ve seen the live actors at Disneyworld and Disneyland and I’ve seen cosplayers that do a better Hades than this. I know this is basically a big ol “modern fairytale au” of the Disney universe so everyone looks fairly human, but I mean, if you can’t look like Hades then at least ACT like Hades, y’know?

But then again, I’m not surprised because a lot of the original villains in the Descendants series were ooc. Like Cruella was no longer this snobbish woman who loves all things fashion. She was basically insane. Talking to a fake dog plushie and acting crazy while also having a huge fear/hatred of dogs. Maleficent was no longer the mistress of all evil, very regal and refined, and scared you out of your wits with one look from her. She was turned into this silly, quirky Broadway singing villainess that was obsessed with power. So…yeah, as I said, doesn’t surprise me that Hades’ personality changed in the movie series. But still as a Hades simp, I would’ve really liked to see Hades portrayed accurately.
