but honestly, what was the point in even concealing things, the paparazzi would eventually uncover it. that’s how you felt when they found out about your daughter, and how you now felt when the picture of you and chaewon was leaked. it was nothing more than the angle, you were leaning in for a hug but the angle made it seem like a kiss. you had met chaewon initially through a mutual friend, huh yunjin.

she was your neighbor as a kid, and was one of the few people who knew everything that went down with mina. yunjin was one of your closest friends, and one you could say knew everything about you. when yunjin left america to join produce 48 you were so proud of her for it and encouraged her throughout the whole thing.

you weren't actually korean, but you would consider yourself pretty fluent in the language, same went for yunjin with japanese. when you two were little you both would teach eachother your languages, you japanese and her korean. later on, knowing these languages came of much use to the both of you. yunjin’s understanding of japanese allowing her to easily communicate with the japanese people on produce 48.

when the lineup for her debut was confirmed, the first thing she did was introduce you to her members. you immediately clicked with chaewon and sakura. you could easily communicate with all the members, having known fluent japanese and pretty fluent korean. you don’t know how it happened but you three just clicked, immediately forming a trio.

yunjin often joked about chaewon and sakura stealing her best friend, and now in a way chaewon had. chaewon alone had a schedule in new york, you currently resided in california due to your job but when you heard that she’d be there, you flew in on the same day as her. she had come all the way to the states and you weren’t gonna let her go without a hello.

you two booked the same hotel so from there you two walked to a café. you should’ve predicted that the paparazzi would find out. when you met up with chaewon that day, it made headlines in both america and korea. your popularity in korea shot up along with chaewon’s in america. almost every pop news outlet was talking about chaewon and praising both izone and le sserafims music.

everything happened so quickly, just two days ago you had been caught with chaewon and now today the statement of your relationship with her was going to be released. the plan was, that in the same statement that included your relationship you’d talk about how chaewon helped you raise isla and how she was basically the second parent of your child. this statement was to be released tonight, at 9 pm. you were half nervous and half excited. you were nervous because just the next day you’d have to attend the billboard women in music award ceremony. you hadn't bothered checking who’d be there, obviously assuming it’d just be other american artists. either way, you didn’t have the freetime to be checking who’d be at the event and who wouldn't.

In that moment mina wanted nothing more than to take isla from you and keep the child with her forever. It was in that moment that mina genuinely realized her mistake.

she had caused everything, giving herself the excuse that she was working hard to provide for you two, but had she really fulfilled her role as a parent? hell, mina didn't even know how her own daughter looked until she saw her on the news. mina never admits her mistakes, but just this once, she couldn't find an excuse for all that she had done. mina had many breaks over the course of her career, she could've gone to visit you two. she should’ve gone to visit, at the end of the day that was her own flesh and blood, she made that child and yet she wasn't even there to watch it grow.

it was on the way to the airport that mina had found out the news, but the anger she felt once before, was now replaced with regret. she had the whole 11 hours of the plane ride to ponder; where did she go so incredibly wrong? maybe it was the regret sizzling in her stomach, but mina couldn't tear her eyes from the blurry picture of her daughter in front of the car mina had gifted her. mina wanted so desperately to claim this child as her own, to shout it out for the whole world to hear.

but if k-idols having relationships were looked down upon, then God knows how bad it would be to have a child in this industry. that left mina with her second question though, how on earth did chaewon’s company agree to let her go public with your guyses relationship? not only was chaewon going public with being in a relationship, but also being gay? south korea was not a country like the U.S where being gay was widely recognized and accepted. It was quite the opposite honestly, homophobia was very real, and very present in south korea. chaewon going public with her relationship was definitely a gamble.

half the flight mina spent thinking about you and isla, and the other half was spent sleeping. due to their new comeback she hadn't been getting much sleep with promotions. not wanting to be sleep deprived when she met you or anyone, mina basically forced herself to sleep. when the flight landed and she was awoken, she thanked her past self for deciding to sleep.

this was it, this was going to be her first meeting with you in four years. maybe if she was anyone else, she would’ve been nervous, meeting you after such a bad ending. but she was myoui mina for a reason, the feeling of nervousness was one foreign to her. confidence was all she knew, and confident was all she was.

once her makeup was done, mina was helped by staff into her elegant black dress along with a fur coat. If mina were to talk about changes in her life, this would definitely be at the top of the list. before becoming an idol, mina never wore dresses or skirts, often wearing boyish clothing. at first it irritated mina, having to wear such girly clothes and such tight compression shorts. but now she was used to it, and honestly she now enjoyed wearing dresses, she found that they fit her well.

after finishing with hair and makeup, mina along with her members were led to the venue, and to the table they were assigned to. the cheers along with the people who were on stage were all that could be heard. that was until mina sat at her table and looked to her right.

everything has been a whirlwind of emotions for you these past couple of weeks. starting from the mama practice, minji kissing you on the roof deck, hanni’s confession at han river, and jinni’s departure. dispatch caught you and that was a blessing in disguise. being on lockdown means you have time to think things through and process everything.

all of this… brings back unwanted memories.

its izone all over again. jinni leaving gives off the impression of disbanding, even when the possibility of staying together was there with millions of support. no one was willing to take the risk. similarly with your own feelings towards wonyoung before, your first love who is happily working twice as hard.

why didn’t i confess?

at such a young age, you were forced onto focusing on debuting, working hard, moving to a different country without your parents there to comfort you 24/7. the pressure of it all simply made you focus on becoming an idol, as if you didn’t have a choice with your parents having faith that you’ll do well. that was how you and chaewon ended, she was just someone to fill that hole in your heart, being deprived of love and affection, filled with harsh critics and strict rules that makes you question if you’ll live another day.

the fear of disappointing your parents was the driving force to always make the safe decision, and that was kim chaewon. although you never felt yourself loving her as much as she loved you, clearly someone else occupied your heart.

jang wonyoung, the girl that filled your mind with what ifs. the very same girl who chose you over anyone else again and again yet you were too dense to notice it wasn’t platonic. she loved you the same way you loved her, but being young and with multiple eyes watching your every move, maybe that was another reason why you never confessed.

the familiarity of it all brings you back to your original train of thought. kim minji and pham hanni.

it was weird at first, how minji reminds you of chaewon. your ex and best friend in izone. she’s grown within a year of disbandment and yet she still captivates you. then again, she is still the same kim chaewon that deals with your childlike behavior, holds your hand within any crowded spaces, reminds you to stay grounded, and overall your best friend during produce to izone and until now.

minji is like that, your first date clearly shows it. maybe that’s why you’re so allured to her because of the familiarity she gives off. yes, you like her but do you like her enough to actually pursue a relationship with her?

familiarity led you to not admitting your feelings to wonyoung. the fear of ruining a good dynamic. yujin was there anyway, wonyoung deserved better and that was yujin. a relationship that is already perfect on its own without the complication of romantic feelings. chaewon was there. you also liked her at that time but it wasn’t as strong as it was for wonyoung.

eunbi knew this, she’s the other sister figure you leaned on to aside from jihyo. the thing is that you broke two hearts instead of one, wonyoung also didn’t confess in which you recently found out, and chaewon was actually into you more than you were.

you fear repeating the same mistake.

then there’s the uncertainty. the uncharted waters of your feelings, one similar and stronger than the one you felt with wonyoung.

hanni gives off that uncertainty. the fear of taking the risk and going on a deep dive towards the unknown. there’s the thrill of it, but you’re a coward that gets overwhelmed easily who needs someone to hold their hand when in a crowded room.

your first date with hanni was perfect, trying new things despite being uncertain whether hanni would enjoy it as well. it makes you question how strong the butterflies in your stomach would last and not actually make you sick, how the littlest details she keeps in mind, and willing to take the time to get to know you better.

hanni did make you happy, feel loved and heard, someone who sees you as a person and not as an idol. maybe that’s why its unfamiliar for you because you never experienced these things with the person who truly has your heart.

minji isn’t chaewon.

hanni isn’t wonyoung.

this entire thing is completely different from them because for once, you actually know that she likes you back.

eunbi is right, you shouldn’t settle for someone because you have this sense of familiarity around them. she wants you to take the risk, take the leap of faith, what is there to lose when she likes you back? you can take it slow, its your decision, your parents aren’t here to be disappointed in you. this is your life, your love life, its going to be a wasted opportunity if you let her go.
