here are some dc characters i imagine being south asian, except the list gets worse and worse

1. Raven ofc, she’s based on Miss India 1965, she basically should be canonically Indian atp. I like to think that she’s South Indian, and that her mother Arella’s side of the family is Christian since that’s a pretty common thing irl for South Indians.

2. Sue Dibny, mainly because I think her name Sue could easily be a nickname for Suhani and I think that’s adorable lmao. Also she’s a character I very much love, despite her cruel and unfortunate history. She IS one of the best detectives and I stand by that.

3. Zatanna. This one I’m not 100% serious about at all tbh, but in some panels she looks so very Desi that I’m just like??? Woah. Also can’t explain it but her personality/vibe also really matches. And it would be cool to have an Italian-Bengali or Italian-Pakistani girly.

4. Jason Todd. Controversial, I know, but his look in the Death in the Family movie was soooo…like you can’t tell me that’s not a Nepali man. Also it would make sense considering that he thought Shiva was his mom…there’d have to be a slight indicator of similarity somewhere. Also I deserve to see myself in a brown character who grew up poor in the streets and is unhinged.

Honorable mention:

I used to imagine Lois Lane as South Asian, but since her recent Korean depiction in the new superman show, I kinda dropped that idea lol. And I’ll never forget when I told one of my old mutuals about my Lois headcanon, and they were like “No, I think she’s Latina. I don’t agree with you at all” 🥲❤️‍🩹 anyways maybe she can be Korean-Bengali…

Lois is drawn in a lot of different ways, sometimes black or brown hair, and hair length is pretty inconsistent too, I was wondering what your favorite version of Lois was? Or if you have any specific headcanons about her appearance? Thanks!

Action Comics (2016) #965 cover Lois is my fave Lois look of all time.

So the things I like about it: I love Lois with violet eyes. Why not! (I also think Jon should have violet eyes, for the record.) I love this haircut. And I honestly like Lois with dark brown hair. This is a really cute fit on her too. It is kind of funny to me that in canon Post-Crisis Lois had brown hair and New 52 Lois had black hair. That is somewhat consistent though, as Lois typically had black hair up until the crisis. (And then she did have black hair a few times throughout.)

Generally, if I'm writing Lois, I picture this incarnation. If she doesn't have violet eyes, she has brown eyes. In general, I see her as looking pretty, but not especially remarkable. It's more her persona that makes you remember her. I am fond of the Lois in My Adventures with Superman (though I think they made some significant changes to her personality that I'm... meh on). There have been quite a few different versions of Lois who have been Asian in the last few years (I can think of specifically Korean, Japanese, and I believe Indian off the top of my head). That's neat! She definitely doesn't have to be white. All this to say, while this is the Lois I typically picture, I am easily persuaded into writing or seeing Lois differently because for her, her specific appearance really doesn't matter!

...That being said, I don't think she looks right if her hair is lighter than dark brown.

Non-avatar related; but is weird for me to personally headcanon some characters (like for example Mandy from Totally Spies and Lois Lane from the DCAU) as Asian even though they’re canonically white (talking about animated/drawn works of fiction)?

imagine some paparazzo takes a picture of one of the batkids that catches their group chat on film, and they have to scramble to explain it away. and they’re like. oh, yeah, we always pretend we’re the batfamily why not? and all the Gothamites latch onto it like nobody’s business and it’s like

“hey, you guys know I love the Waynes but does anyone think it’s a little racist that Bruce went out and specifically found an asian girl to adopt because Orphan is getting popular now”

“wait who said Orphan was Asian do we have an interview???”

“OP you only think Orphan is asian because of that one picture with the katana but that means nothing everyone has a katana. Robin has a katana. for all we know that was Robin’s katana”

“wait is Robin asian??”

“I headcanon Robin as Asian”

“well, that’s a little offensive, I mean, these are real people, don’t we (not me personally) know where Damian is from”

"Send me a character": Talia al Ghul

Favorite thing about them: She proves you don't have to be masculine to be strong. She's a very feminine woman that's driven by love, but she manages to avoid the cliche of being soft and weak while she does it. Instead she's one of the most powerful humans in the DC universe.

Least favorite thing about them: That the current Talia is basically Morrison's evil asian baby mama stereotype OC with one of my favourite characters names. He shouldn't have ever been allowed to touch her.

Favorite line: "Everything I do, I do for love." - Red Hood: Lost Days.

BrOTP: Talia and Lois Lane.

OTP: Talia and Shiva, Taliva, Shivia, i dunno whatever ship name anyone comes up with; badass assassin moms taking the kids ass-kicking on weekends.

NOTP: Talia and Bane. That was honestly such a terrifying comics arc, I can't even read any of those issues anymore.

Random headcanon: Not exactly a headcannon, because it was shown in cannon, but she smokes sometimes. The headcannon part is that she does it because Ras wouldn't approve, and it reminds her that she's her own person now, not a tool to get him an heir.

Unpopular opinion: I have two, she would have been an amazing mother if her original characterization had been used and her best characterization was when she broke away from both Bruce and her father to live her own life.

Song I associate with her: Persephone by EmpathP.

Favourite artist: (Changing from favourite picture, because I don't have my comics on hand right now). Jim Lee, how he drew her in HUSH specifically.

Miraculous Ladybug thoughts I have since I’m rewatching it:

Headcanons:

Adrien’s dad is agoraphobic. he never willingly leaves his house that we have seen. I assume he has a home office. and he does everything over the internet via video

Alya is the Lois Lane to Mariette’s superman

I def think that the reason people can’t tell Ladybug and Chat Noir’s identities is MAGIC. like why else?? and you’ll be a lot less upset when you think of it as a built in safety just like their “indestructible” clothing.

Mariette has ADHD. her clumsiness, lack of spacial awareness, being bad with time, spacing out, and hyperfocus on her hobbies are all common symptoms of women with ADHD. She is clearly talented but seems to lack spatial awareness and can’t manage her own schedule but hyper focuses on Adrien’s. Even the way her lucky charm works utilizes that.

Worldbuilding Questions:

does exercise they do count in their normal bodies? because they don’t seem to be needing to eat a lot more food

what is the purpose of the kwamis (since its not to fight one another?)

I think it’s really interesting how people just forgive people for being turned into supervillains like it’s no big deal. do people forget? what is up with that?

how does the lucky charm work? does it bring back people who died via supervillain? when buildings fall do people die?? does it turn back time? alternate universe?

so I just am kinda stuck on the the miraculous as earrings and what it must be like if you don’t already have pierced ears? and for some reason the idea of piercing your ears with a magical item and it hurting is really fascinating to me. blood sacrifice, gotta remember this for a story concept.

Villains solve problems tangent:

honestly becoming a supervillain and everything seems really cathartic. you get to vent and express your emotions, no one hold it against you, everything gets fixed at the end. (even things that were broken beforehand??? re: watch)

IDK it seems like a lot of problems are solved by being turned into a supervillain, people own up to their mistakes once you explode (re: mime, gammer, etc.)

are they chosen by/ get akumatized because of their proximity to ladybug and chat noir?

once you get akumatized once are you then immune? is it like getting the chicken pox? I mean realistically you would never actually run out of people but like... eventually you would right? are people who got it “safe”?

why are people still rude when it turns people into villains??? like I feel like how could you ever say no living in fear that someone might resent you, snap and get superpowers?

People Tangent:

Marinette doesn’t look it but she is half asian, her best friend I’m assuming is black, so 2 woc are like the main characters....

Cloe’s makeup is classic embarrassing high school look with frosted lips and powder blue eyeshadow OMG. also she should totally be an actress, she is like always rehearsing her responses. and where is her mom??

ITS SO FUCKING SKETCHY that the Mayor owns a luxury hotel like WTFFF and he is like super rich and all. and how did he even become Mayor when he is such a pushover???

if Adrien’s mom has only been gone a year, how come he has never been to school before?

can we please go more into the fact that Adrien has not been around people his own age and explore that adjustment and his lack of social skills?

Alya LOVES comics and superheros she is the fucking best and nerdy!!!

Adrein’s dad Gabriel really should have more than 2 people working for him? I can’t believe he doesn’t have someone to specifically manage Adrien. also, why does the personal assistant and everyone seem so distant? why are they scared of being affectionate? is she new?

Adrien is probably touch starved TBH. and I really think he like imprinted on Ladybug.

I’m so sorry this turned into such a long post, I guess I had a lot of thoughts? should I split this up into separate posts?
