I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.

homestuck fans who started reading after the comic ended, reblog and share when you started reading and why. I’m curious how many of us there are

yeah I’ll say it again: there was no reason for Azula to be put in an asylum for a year and still be going through it that bad all for a breakdown that took, what, less than a month? If we take Zuko’s betrayal, then Mai and Ty Lee swapping sides(? we never really see them “turning good” they just prevent Azula from hurting Zuko and the Gaang but that’s a different discussion) and then her father’s denial of her joining him to the Earth Kingdom (then feeling like she’s being treated like Zuko - thus she’s suddenly lesser in his eyes) followed by Zuko defeating her (which, in her mind, is a whole new failure and she probably feels like she failed her Nation)... yeah that’s stuff that, if given proper therapy, she could have just stayed in a hospital, and within a year, possibly even be living back in the palace with a whole new outlook on life. The writers make it sound like Zuko just wanted her out of his hair which is not how you want to write your hero whose arc is based around growth and wanting acceptance and is forgiven by a family elder after he hurts him. Yes he’s a new Fire Lord and he’s got a lot on his plate, but to just handwave his sister away after he knows the pain of being denied by his family is... bleh (also you all know how much I hate Iroh's canonical endgame)

And I know that there were talks of a fourth season in which she got her healing arc (which would have been really great to see); but it’s such a mess that the comics just kind of decided ‘nahh let the teenager who’s been locked up for a year keep her antagonist role, that’s fresh right?’ Not the girl who was put on a pedestal until suddenly everything she did was wrong (which... yeah, she WAS doing wrong; but she’s been raised to believe everything she was doing was for a greater good for HER nation and the world. She believes she’s a hero because she’s doing what she was raised to do, and to them she IS a hero. She has daddy’s ‘love’ so long as she’s perfect and amazing - and then suddenly all of that gets absolutely obliterated right in front of her one at a time as she realizes everything she’s been doing to maintain her power is also driving people away. Being 'the good kid' until suddenly you aren'twill unravel you.). Zuko knows how that feels, to feel like everything he did was wrong. He knows how it feels to have to break away from realizing he’s been hurting people; to learn from that and how he needs to change his ways.

And not only that but the way they write Azula as a villain in The Search is just AWFUL like it’s boring af. They recycle the same beats over and over and no one gets the bright idea to stop the cycle it’s AWFUL everyone in that comic is a raging idiot.

idk I could keep going in circles and we already know the comics are awful but there’s my extra 2 cents on the matter. They took a character that was already entertaining and fascinating and denied her a really great potential arc to make her one of the best allies the Gaang could have (and Zuko could have some FAMILY) but nope. Let's retread the show but instead let's make it bad.

I'm curious... Granny April will always be Granny April, but how do the turtle tots see Casey Marie? Since you said they know most of their family history, does this mean they know Casey wanted to train them for war? How do they feel about this? Are some of them still a little resentful or are they already at peace with what happened and are ready to have a relationship with her?

The tots actually know April has a daughter! Even if Mikey makes a sour face whenever she does, April talks about her kid to the babies and tells them that they have a cousin. Even if the kids are aware of her existence growing up they don't really question why they've never met Casey because they know that New York is still somewhat of a war zone and that their cousin is basically the leader of the rebellion so she's definitely busy (she's somewhat of a very stranged family member since the start lol). The kids never truly talk to Casey until they are adults though. Mikey felt very strongly about them being old enough to decide if wanting to meet her after knowing she created them for war and all.

Since Michelangelo was actually able to save the babies from a child soldier life, the kids are rather forgiving of what Casey did because in the end that didn't happen and by this time Casey actually is remorseful of her way of thinking when creating them and just wants to get to know them as a family member. It takes a bit of time though (the kids, even if willing to forgive her and move on, are still very much on high alert around her (cough Uno and Moja cough). After all, they know of Mikey's life story and feel a sort of kinship of anger directed towards her (It fades away in the end though).

Definitely not resentful but still not the most buddy buddies straight from the start.

i HATED the old one so much it was literally in two completely different styles both of which were horrendously out of date and missing a bunch of key details and UUUGH. i was so embarrassed to have it up and have people looking at it but this is SO MUCH BETTER. and hopefully it'll stick around for longer :)

Remember when this video came out there were people who heard the voice at the end and thought the voice was either Sammy or the Ink Demon? Man, those were the days. However with all due respect, I'm glad neither case was right in the end lol.

On this day 5 years ago, "Unknown - April 14th" was posted on YouTube, which means it's been 5 damn years since we first heard from Wilson...

It's interesting to think that even though it's been 5 years, we've only known who Wilson really is for 2 years now (or more appropriately, 1 year and 5 months of those 5 years). Of course, now, after BATDR was released, we know who he is and what his place is in the Bendy universe. But between April 1, 2019 and November 1, 2022, all we knew about him was that he…existed. He was someone - someone bad apparently - who sounded old and who would have some relevance in the plot of Dark Revival. And that's it. We had no name, no appearance, nothing. He was someone, but we didn't know who.

It's no wonder he was only referred to as "Unknown" by fans during these 3 and a half years.

In the end, I would say that this drawing is a mix of 2 things. The first being the result of an idea I've had for a while, which is basically making a drawing in relation to the original video/"unknown" tape, but this time with Wilson, since now we know it was recorded by him. Plus it's been 5 years since the original upload,5 years of Wilson. I think this would be the perfect time to do this.

And second, a strange kind of redux/homage/"final chapter" in this kind of "collection" of drawings I did between 2019 and 2022 all based on the idea of "the unknown weirdo from BATDR saying How Very Interesting Such Knowledge" and so on. All of them having other characters in mind in the role of the Unknown. And now, here I am, redoing this idea again, only with The Man Himself this time. The real Unknown. Now as the Known, so to speak.

Going back to what I said before, you can see this drawing as a kind of farewell to this particular idea that I've kind of repeated over the years, as I've now done it again only with Wilson this time. (Does this mean I'll never draw this concept/line of thought again? I mean, I assume so. But there's no guarantee I can't make something similar again down the line. Who knows what the future holds. We will see what happens in the next 5 years.)

But,yeah. 5 years of Such Knowledge™.

I bought and read Don’t Shoot the Messenger last night and I loved it! Literally did not put it down until I was done lol I love your world building and how you develop characters, it feels so real, like every character is a fully fleshed out individual. I’m excited for what you might do with Dale, if you published that. Thanks for sharing your stories!!

thank you!! i've been slammed with work but this message made me so happy :)

i lov worldbuilding so much (which is why for so long i had issues with shorter stories like novellas and with actually writing stories down instead of just extensive lore lol) so i'm glad i comes through! the characters as well for this story in particular were floating around in my head before anything was written down so i'm thrilled that i was able to get them on the page well enough to do them justice.

Publishing Dale is very high on my list of priorities and its just gonna come down to timing for when that happens.

Maverick let's people organise for him birthday parties without sayin' much even if he hates every bit of the event. For his sixty they all are at the O-Club, Rooster is smiling and all the alcohol he wants appears in front of him. He can't say he liked it but he can't say he's sorry to have been there. The next two years are almost the same, it changes the location, Rooster isn't there for is sixty-second because he's away on mission but he receives presents from all his students. Penny is still around, still kissing him slowly and softly, still making him use the window to leave the house because he doesn't want to settle down and she doesn't want to settle for his idea of what they are. Some day it works some other they end up asking eachother what, why, are they doing themselves.

Then April comes around again and Penny is thinking of something special, not as big as for his sixtieth, and maybe just the two of them? But when the 12th actually comes around Maverick is nowhere to be found. Rooster is around, Mav's favourite cake is in the fridge, Penny's picnic spot is reserved. Maverick's phone is turned off and his bike is parked in front of his house.

The call comes around four, when everyone is a second away from loosing their collective minds, and Sarah's voice is as gentle and firm as possibile when she explains that Maverick is at her house and he needs a little more time to process. She doesn't say he spent all day in Tom's bedroom or he called out for him and Goose at some point, after the seventh or eighth beer. She let's them know he is safe and probably going to crush there, no need to come and pick him up. He will find his way back, she concludes before she hang ups the call.

Maverick comes back, the next day, smelling like a distillery and misery, if misery had a smell. He doesn't offer explanation nor touches a piece of his cake before disappearing again, this time in his own bedroom. It takes a week, of erratic behaviour and having to fight him on every single little thing, before he can find the strength to say I don't want to do anything for my birthday, next year.

And so it is, for a lot of the years that follows his sixty-third birthday Penny doesn't organise anything, his classes are still sending him little presents and Maverick just disappears in the Kazansky's house for a day and then come back. Sarah never say what they do when Maverick's around and Penny is almost terrifyed of the answer, even when she can't tell herself why.

The answer comes a couple of days after his sixty-eighth birthday, when they're all sitting around a restaurant table for Rooster's promotion, that Maverick spills it out and probably only his godson was suppose to hear about that but Penny is just too curious: Tom ha-had a pile of VHD, almost twenty of them, with long videos of our year at TOPGUN and a lot of other random moments in life. They're there, frozen in time, Ice and your dad and so many others, and I'm there with them. I'm with them there, back when we were young and I wasn't alone. I know is selfish but they give me the best birthdays, even without the cake and the alcohol. I miss them a year, every day, and it's already been so hard being older than your dad but the day I turned sixty-three I realised Ice wasn't never going to be sixty-four and it kinda shuttered me? I miss them more than anything Bradley, more than even flying.

Rooster is crying, Penny is crying too, and Maverick isn't looking at them but at the sky probably dreaming of planes, family bonds and love that has never really faded away. The only thing Penny can actually do is to hug Pete a little longer and a little tighter than usual, the cold of the metal of his, their, dogtags against her chest and the sound of a single beating heart that follows a complete different rhythm than hers.
