Tmnt Memory mash up part 2 (finally ran out of jokes for the first one)
Concept is, there is no concept we have no idea what’s real because memories are wonky, everyone is a storyteller, and Casey is gaslighting them all. (Actual concept: characters remember the same events differently because that’s how brains work, but now it’s taken to an extreme where the basis for different turtle realities comes from each set of memories.)
Rise Raph, 2012 Mikey, 2003 Donnie, 2007 Leo, 1987 Splinter, 1990s April
Leo: You guys need to focus. It’s just like I learned during my training—
Raph: Your training? Are you talking about when you became a mascot for that basketball team?
Donnie: Raphie, be nice. You know Leo takes ninjitsu very seriously.
Raph: *cackles*
Mikey: pfft yeah haha, he’s a big goofy dork who loves cartoons, trying to act all serious haha (he tried to sacrifice himself again last week why are we laughing)
Mikey: Yo dudes, I made us some pizza, shaken not stirred, canned meat supreme with jalapeños and strawberries, light on rosemary heavy on hot sauce. We’re ready for movie night!
Raph: You’re so creative with food! ❤️ You were watching that cooking show you like again, weren’t you?
April:
Leo:
Donnie:
Splinter: You are a great chef, Michelangelo. Because of my peculiar tastes I will be eating sushi.
Casey: There’s definitely algae on this pizza.
Leo: Casey shut up we’re eating
Donnie, on the last slide of a PowerPoint: And so, Leo, I think you will plainly understand, you cannot go outside.
Leo: What about Raph and Mikey?
Donnie: Did Mikey almost accidentally ally with our family’s nemesis?
Leo: No, but—
Donnie: Did Raph get poisoned at the Battle Nexus?
Leo: Well, no, but—
Donnie: Did Raph or Mikey or Splinter or April or even Casey fight an army of Foot by himself while still recovering emotionally from our first presumed defeat of said nemesis, and end up facing him again, getting thrown through a window, and falling into a coma?
Leo: But you said you were abducted by aliens! And what about all those adventures in alternate dimensions you talk about? Your safety is also important! (fuming)
Donnie: Well I’m not the one who had to go away for training. 😘
Leo: But you did take that horrible phone line job while I was away for training, and do not tell me that was less traumatic!
Donnie: … phone line job???
Leo: Yeah, the—didn’t you—Casey told me you worked in tech support?
Donnie: Casey told you—Casey said—I am the cofounder of O’Neil Technologies he told you I got a phone line job?
Splinter: You must center yourselves, my students. The mind is a powerful weapon.
April: So does he always just call you guys his students?
Donnie: Nah, I think he says ‘my son’ more often than he says my name, he’s just in training mode right now.
Leo: Yeah, it’s more in private conversations that he’ll use familial terms. He really means it with just as much affection when he says students.
Mikey: lol I have been called both son and student with varying degrees of affection and annoyance. When he says my name I run for my life
Raph:
April: Um, you okay Raph?
Raph: He mostly just calls me Red…
Everyone: Dude….
April: Hey do you guys remember that guy who got mixed up with a bad crowd, almost did something really irreversible but then met you guys and turned it around and helped us instead?
Donnie: Angel!
Splinter: Ah, yes, young Carter. I hope his studies are going well.
Mikey: Mondo Gecko my man!
Leo: Do you mean your boss Winters? I mean he was the most recent.
Raph: That was Casey.
Casey: That was me.
April:
April: Anyway I was talking with his dad the other day—
Mikey: You ever had feelings for someone, Leo? Feelings you didn’t know what to do about? Feelings that kept you up at night?
Leo: Mikey I told you, I didn’t stay away that extra time because of a girlfriend.
Mikey: Maybe even feelings that make you act stupid. Feelings like Raph has for his Mona Lisa, or Donnie for April?
Raph and Donnie, eavesdropping:
Raph: What’s going on with you and April??
Donnie: Nothing I’m aware of. Maybe she borrowed a tool without asking or something. Who’s your Mona Lisa?
Raph: Raph wishes he knew.
Mikey: The heart’s a soft muscle, dude. Squish squish.
Leo: I literally have no idea what you’re talking about.
Casey: Hey Mikey! How are things going with that time traveling girl you liked? I can’t remember her name.
Mikey: Time-traveling girl..? Wait yo dude that hasn’t happened for me yet. I think you just accidentally revealed my future!
Casey: Cool, I didn’t even know I was from the future. I wonder if I could convince Leo he might start an apocalypse if he doesn’t find, like a certain artifact or something….
Donnie, again on PowerPoint: If I were to disappear, the whole world would fall to pieces. Shredder victorious. Raph and Leo estranged forever, unable to reconcile after Master Splinter’s tragic death. Mikey and April, the lone fighters against the growing tide of darkness, barely clinging onto hope. Mikey’s lost one of his arms, and with it the spark of joy in his eyes.
Raph: Who let him have coffee
Splinter: I believe he has had a nightmare. We must guard against these dark thoughts.
Donnie, staring into the distance: That dragon-daimyo merged guy nearly won the Battle Nexus. It looked like the blue bunny poisoned Leo, but in the end he stood beside him in battle. At least Raphie won his planet race.
Raph: Who let him have poison pizza puffs
Mikey: Ay Raph that’s scarily specific?
Mikey: They always forget that I’m good at science, too. I help Dee out in the lab with ideas and stuff. I mean, I don’t understand science, but I got good instincts for it. They need to remember that.
Casey: Yeah, like when you created Ice Cream Kitty.
Mikey: Yeah! What.
Casey: Or when you cured Donnie of that stuff that made him super dumb.
Mikey: No yeah but go back to what you said about Ice Cream Kitty.
Donnie: Do you guys remember that jungle dimension we went to with the really big bugs?
Mikey: Did you just call our own city a jungle dimension?
Leo: Reminds me of my training. I miss the jungle….
Mikey, humming to himself: welcome to the jungle, it’s worse here every day, you learn to live like an animal in the jungle where we play
Raph: Did you guys all portal somewhere without me?
Mikey and Donnie: You wanted to see the giant bugs?
Raph:
Raph: Well, no, but—

Some snippets into Donnie's relationship to his brothers in the Separated AU
So after having figured out that Donnie is in fact their Long Lost Brother, the Drax Trio obviously want him back, and while Donnie is initially excited to find out that he has a bunch of siblings, he's less excited to find out that they're a bit, uh, evil. And they keep insulting April!! How dare they!!! Not to mention, he already has a dad, he doesn't need a new one! So no, Donnie isn't planning on just leaving his current family behind for this new one, and his brothers react to this in various different ways.
As much as Mikey wants Donnie back, Dr. Feelings understands that this is quite the adjustment for Donnie and that he may need some time to come to terms with the fact that he actually belongs with them and not with the humans. Mikey doesn't wanna force his brother to reunite with them, so instead he tries to convince Donnie to come home willingly through various ways. I mentioned this in an earlier post, but AU Mikey is essentially trying to give Donnie a redemption arc like Canon Mikey did with Draxum
Raph, however, sees Donnie and immedietly goes full Protective Big Brother Mode. He thinks the best course of action is to "forcefully rescue" (kidnap) him and and then convince him to stay and be apart of their family. He's can't help catastrophizing about all the way his baby brother is definitely being mistreated by Lou Jitsu and April and all the other evil humans oh NO they have to SAVE HIM!! The only reason he doesn't is because no one else in the Draxum family thinks it's a good idea
And then Leo. I'll go more into detail about Leo's character in this AU at a later dat cuz hhhhhhh but basically, he's still dealing with pretty intense Middle Child Syndrome and the LAST thing he need is another middle child joining the family! Why are all his family members so obsessed with getting Donnie back anyway? He's already clearly chosen the human side so why waste their time on him! .....Now that's not entirely the whole truth, he's kinda ecstatic when he first meets Donnie, except Donnie doesn't seem to care about them any, which... ouch.
Another way to describe their dynamic would be similar to their canon dynamic, a lot of friendly bickering.... except they don't really know each other and are also enemies here so like.... UNfriendly bickering.... which is just bickering lol. They fight a lot, is what I'm getting at.
Anyway you know the family dinner scene with Draxum in season 2 of the show? Yeah, Mikey tries that tactic here too. Like I said, Mikey wants to be patient with Donnie, but he does eventually get a bit tired of Donnie acting so hostile all the time so he starts organizing hangouts for the four of them (attendence is mandatory!)
And poor Donnie, this whole situation is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for him, as you might imagine. Reuniting with your secret lost family is fun for all of five seconds before you find out that they're actually kinda messed up uh oh. A big reason why Donnie acts so hostile towards his brothers is because it's easier for him to just dismiss them as mere enemies that he feels no attatchment to. He's basically being made to pick between this new family and his old one is Not Fun.

I'm looking through some older parts of the comic (definitely for no particular reason...) and seeing this in light of some of the more recent updates gave me Feelings.
Like oh. Oh.
He really had it all planned out. Die, become a spirit, get a robot body, beat the Krang, help the world recover, and give himself and Raph new organic bodies after - how simple, how Tello, to tie it up with a nice little bow and make it all work out in the end. A plan he already had all thought out that he just didn't tell them about yet, you know?
And then, of all the things, his spirit failed him. He wasn't strong enough. It was right there. It should've been fine, it should've worked. He had it all planned out.
No wonder he feels like he failed - he accounted for everything except the idea of his spirit falling to pieces, of him not being strong enough to hold it together and get to the robot.
The ultimate unpredictable factor, the only possible flaw in the plan, ended up being him.
He failed. Not his tech, or the plan itself, but him.
And he's been trying to make up for it ever since.

Biblically accurate Donatello! No shade to my boy, but Soft-shell turtles are so weird looking omg. My roommate saw that one episode of Amazing World of Gumball and has since decided they are all demon possessed, but considering it’s Donnie I guess that checks out
Spiny soft-shells actually come in several subspecies, several of which are quite region specific and endangered. They’re pretty funky, having bendy shells apart from the central bony shell plate, with super weird segmented plastral bones, long noses, and lips that cover their beaks. The reason for those can probably be attested to the fact that they are ambush predators, sitting beneath the mud in ponds and slurping up fish like a vacuum when they come close to their hiding spot. They don’t really have scutes, the big scales found on turtle shells and alligator backs, or scales in general I don’t think. (I don’t have a herpetology degree so this is all from surface level googling, feel free to correct!)
It’s hard to figure out how Donnie’s battle-shell would fit around the very flat bottom half of his true shell, as that’s the most bendy part. Additionally, he would probably need extra protection on his front, as the plastron ends higher up on soft-shells and isn’t one solid bone, nor does it have scutes to protect him. Not to mention the rest of him also not really having scales?
With the shape of turtle heads being quite flat, it would probably be hard to make masks that fit. They’d have to wear something more akin to a racing horse maybe? Donnie would probably draw his eyebrows anyway. Gotta have an impressive brow to raise when you gotta judge your brothers for being dum-dums, after all.
Softshells also have extremely long necks, so he can look down at people to judge them no matter how tall (except Raph lol)

A few years ago, Nickelodeon did a video for World Turtle Day where they talked about some Turtle Facts on the different Turtle Species of the Rise Turtles
Narrator: Leonardo, the wise cracking hotshot, is a red eared slider
And something I found interesting about the video is that it talked about red eared sliders being territorial
Narrator: Red eared slider’s are peaceful & mostly harmless turtles but they can also be very territorial so don’t mess with their home or they might send you home
A lot of turtles are known for being territorial especially soft-shell turtles which are very territorial so I was kind of surprised that when talking about territorial turtles they specifically chose to mention red eared slider’s being territorial over any of the other species of turtles which made me wonder if that particular fact was chosen due to Leo’s characterisation.
Leo: Hey, nobody does that to my brother! Except my brother.
Leo: Back off, he's ours. Apparently.
Throughout Rise Leo has been shown to be extremely protective & defensive of his friends & family jumping to defend or protect them whenever someone tries to hurt them in any way which can be seen when Leo gets protective of Raph in the episode Shell in the Cell or when Leo immediately defends Frankenfoot from the Foot Clan the moment he learns that Raph considers Frankenfoot a friend in the episode Sparring partner.
Leo: Hey, future me would be real proud of you. I’m proud of you
Leo has also been shown to be someone who cares about family more than anything else & the second someone can be seen as a family member he gets attached & would do anything for them (even put his life on the line). Which can be seen by how the second he found out that Karai was a Hamato she became ‘Gram-Gram’ to him & he was willing to fight the Shredder for her or how attached he was to Casey Junior after only a day because he knew that his future self was important to Casey Junior.
Leo: But when I see what’s happening to you, and what’s happening to them... I realised it wasn’t about me.
It has been shown time & time again that Leo’s biggest motivator is arguably his families safety which can be seen in the movie where one of Leo’s biggest motivations when fighting the Krang is arguably his family being in danger & one of the biggest anger responses that Leo has ever really shown has been due to Raph getting hurt.
It could be argued that Leo’s protectiveness over his family could possibly partially stem from the fact that Red Eared Sliders are very territorial making Leo especially protective over what he possibly considers ‘his’. As Red Eared Sliders are traditionally territorial & protective over their homes, Leo might be protective over his friends & family as they are his ‘home’ to him.
Leo being protective & possibly territorial towards his family might also explain why Leo seems to hold grudges against former enemies such as Draxum & be reluctant to trust them as Leo’s instincts may still view the former enemies as threats to what he wants to protect.
Leo: You threw me off a roof!
Mikey: Isn’t this nice? When’s the last time we all got together like this huh?
Leo: The time Draxum dropped me off a building?
It might be possible that Leo’s grudge against Draxum isn’t actually motivated over Draxum’s actions against Leo but rather because there might be part of Leo that struggles not to see Draxum as a threat to the people he cares about.
I’m not sure whether or not a red eared sliders territorial nature was supposed to translate into Leo’s protective nature over his family intentionally but I thought it might be an interesting link to make between Leo & his turtle species.
The fact that Red Eared Sliders are known for being peaceful & mostly harmless except when their home is threatened might also be similar to how Leo seems to prefer to act laid back except for when his family needs protecting.

Weapons also have souls au
Did I just simply make 2012 & rise crossover? Yes, yes I did!
Did I also add some ✨mystic✨ to it for spice? Yes I absolutely did!!
Am I gonna do this one post and never return to this idea ever again(like I did with my rat au)? I really fucking hope not!!!
The idea itself is that one of 12!turtle’s enemy got so fed up with them that they got their hands on some mystic stuff to capture brothers in weapons and banish them to another dimension. Anything to “never see their stupid turtle faces again!”
To everyone’s surprise it actually worked. And unfortunately for turtles …. That’s how one, what seemed like normal, mission turned into catastrophe. One by one brothers got separated and locked up in their own weapon: Leo in ōdachi, Mickey in kusari-fundo, Raph in tonfās and Donnie in some strange bo stuff (I have no idea what the name of the weapon was in first episode, if you know tell me) . After this they were just dumped through the portal in whatever dimension, those bad guys couldn’t care less honestly.
And that’s how 2012 Leo, Raph, Mickey and Donnie got into Rise!dimension. But…!!! They happened to appear in Hidden city long before Draxum’s mutant warriors were even in plans. Weapons were passed from hand to hand, but never stayed long with one holder. Different yokai complained about seeing and hearing strange things the more they used the weapons. But with every next holder it was getting more and more obvious that these weapons were not just haunted, but possessed mystic powers. With this rumours going around Hidden city about ōdachi that can creat portals and tonfās that make you bigger and stronger, that’s how Baron Draxum found out about them and decided that he wanted them in his collection.
And would you believe me when I tell that that’s where Draxum got the idea for his human-destruction warriors to be turtles? When he tried to use kusari-fundo and saw a vision of a ninja-looking turtle yokai that was yelling at him to be freed and was challenging him to a fight! He was mesmerised by this creature’s body structures, the possibility of a shell to be a natural protection, ability to breathe underwater. It was a perfect choice of an animal for a warrior to be mutated from!
That’s where 13 years later, our rise!bois are coming into view! Story goes the same as in the “Mystic mayhem” episode, except…. When rise!turtles tried to use their new mystic weapon and it was malfunctioning, it was mostly cause it was their first time using it, but also cause 12!brothers were being kinda salty about not being used for over a decade and they were trying to get some fun out of all this situation. After all, who could have known that their new holders are gonna finally help them reunite with each other. Not right away, but in time…
And if you’re asking yourself right now “But what about Donnie?” Well…remember how he didn’t take the “glowy weapon”? Yeah, at some point in the story they’ll have to go back to Draxum’s destroyed lab and hope that 12!Donnie and stuff he’s in did survive the explosion.
But for now R!Donnie is just like:
