i reached port ormos today and did a little bit of the event. i now have c5 collei lol yesyes the landscapes are sooo pretty and green!! i have yet to check out the library but the tavern in sumeru city was so nice??? i adore the bgm there (for context i love love love jazz), i didn’t expect any of the summer bgm to sound like that and was pleasantly surprised hehe i’ll check out the library next time I log in, it sounds like a pretty place from what you’re describing :o

strange new worlds episode 1 onions:

i know so far im riding on the nostalgia wave and i'll probably end up liking the show Less than i do now but . . . this is literally all i ever wanted from a trek show

(well ALL i ever wanted also includes jim but they're not giving him to us for a number of reasons)

on the one hand it feels like they're cramming all the characters want to see into one place but ON THE OTHER HAND !!!!

we finally got to see m'benga im so happy

i really like uhura so far she's so nerdy and enthusiastic which is a welcome change. she's younger in the snw timeline and this is a great way to show it, im excited to see her character develop. (and im so happy we're spared from spuhura even if it means s'pring which actually deserves its own paragraph)

T'PRING MY ABSOLUTE BELOVED she's stunning !!!! the hair the jewelry the outfice she's just as elegant and sophisticated as in tos which is so good to see. idk abt her characterisation yet seeing as she had 2 scenes total in this episode but hhhhhh im not sure if this is my favourite spock/t'pring dynamic ever. ik my opinions are heavily clouded by my existing preferences but i just feel the need to give spock a love interest is... unnecessary. is2g kurtzman is deathly afraid of spock being shipped with m*n there's no other explanation. but yeah i feel like the established relationship takes away a lot from the dynamic, but it also gives opportunity for t'pring to have her own personality and inner conflicts outside of her relationship with spock OR stonn

ORTEGAS??? MA'AM?? i am looking very respectfully . . . i'll be very mad if she's just snw's version of tig notaro's character in dis (snarky butch with a high one liner per minute speed) but she's. very handsome. i desperately want to see more of her

i really don't care for pike's c-ptsd or the whole unavoidable future doomed from the beginning etc etc narrative it's just idk. i know partly it's just a nod to the canon and they had to follow through with dis' bullshit plot but :/ for a main character this is weak motivation

(also im sooooo disappointed by the way pike & spock's dynamic is handled by snw so far give me hero worship !!!! give me mentor figure !!!!! speaking of)

spock.... look how they massacred my boy.... i know it's impossible to satisfy tos/aos fans because it's not The Spock, and im completely biased in this regard, but its just a complete 180 from dis!spock who is literally autistic tormented by vision locked up in an asylum FORCED TO GO ON A UNIVERSE SAVING QUEST BECAUSE DESTINY IS UNAVOIDABLE and snw's straightwashed well adjusted spock. once again this is only the first episode and i might be completely wrong about everything but idk idk . ethan peck is a great actor tho and it's nice to see his interpretation of all the little spock mannerisms. his delivery feels as a kind of in-between between tos and aos!spocks in that he is much less emo than aos but also not the fully established tos!spock who is 100% comfortable in his skin. also the moment on the alien planet where he randomly let out an inhuman (sic!) shriek because he was in a lot of pain and then immediately went back to normal?? what was that about :/

also sam !!!!!!! im so desperate to know how the kirks are doing in this timeline !!!!! i have a very clear characterisation of him in my mind that's 99% fanon but im trying to have an open mind abt him. wheres jim.... how is winona doing....

im probably forgetting soooo much of what i wanted to say but yeah so far i have no trust in kurtzman & goldman and where this show is going to go but it IS exciting for me as you can clearly see from this fucking essay

Total angy rant but I've been doing this for a long ass time and I can pretty accurately clock when something is going to be a flop just from a variety of factors: audience, trends, etc. but it's still disappointing. It's still a massive fucking disappointment and tn it's an all encompassing rage. And idk if it's bc of this absolutely batshit take i read last night or the fact that the met gala is trending and i truly do not give af what kim kardashian is wearing to the carpet i literally do not give af twitter stop fucking showing me this shit like I'd give af and put my work in the tags again u whore.

Okay, so after not reading One Piece for more than a year, I caught up on all the chapters I missed by now and just wanted to write down my thoughts~ I also intend to make edits again. It’s been a while, though, I hope I still remember how lol. First and foremost, I’m really glad to be reading Oda-sensei’s great writing and to be in this world again, so to say. I missed this consistently-good quality of writing, the blend of action+emotion+humor and of course, I missed my adorkable Strawhat crew ^-^ I stopped reading where the second Wano Act ended so I picked up from there until chapter 1009. A lot of the chapters in Act Three are flashbacks from Kozuki Oden's life. He is an interesting and well-thought-out character, to say the least. I found it quite hard to wrap my head around his demise, though. That was just too... unfair. But then, if the point of that incident is to make us readers despise Kaido more; mission accomplished. I gotta say, for me, the highlight of those flashbacks was to see the Whitebeard pirates. The way that crew treated each other like family and they all called Whitebeard "pops" will never not be endearing to me. I lk hate that Oda indirectly brought up Ace in Oden's flashback (when Roger talked about his unborn son). Maybe I'm just overly emotional but I think it's a testament to Oda-sensei's writing that any reminder of Ace still makes me sad. I think that Toki and her relationship with Oden was also quite sweet. Oda-sensei never spends too much time on romance but he still manages to give those relationships weight. I was moved by how perfect Oden and Toki were together, how understanding and supportive of each other. When Toki said "we are not your weakness", right after she lost her husband... that was a powerful moment imo.

Coming back to present time; it's actually stupid how happy it made me to see Jimbei finally catching up with Luffy and all now ten Strawhats reunited! Didn't last long of course but hey, at least they're all still on the same island this time xD I’m so glad that Jimbei joined the crew for good now - the traditional toast to a new crew member has yet to come, though. And I wonder if maybe Yamato, even if just temporarily, might also join. Yamato is a badass character so far. I think her weird pretense as Oden is a bit off-putting but I still like her. I am actually confused about her gender identity now, though. Does he actually identify as male himself or is that solely because he’s pretending to be Oden? What she’s doing seems to be “identity theft” rather than being genderqueer. But either way, it hasn’t been confirmed yet. I really hope Oda-sensei will confirm her gender soon. For now and until we get any confirmation, I’ll still headcanon her as genderfluid. I definitely think it’s easy to tell that she’s genuine in her support for the Kozukis and the Strawhats. Also, there were some flashbacks with Ace... I both hated and loved those. Yamato, having to tell Ace he mentioned his brother too often was not okay TT-TT Speaking of Ace’s brother, Oda-sensei hinted that Sabo got announced dead but as is the rule with OP; if there is no corpse, he ain’t dead.

I haven’t checked how far the anime is but the rest of my thoughts might be spoilery so I’ll put them under a cut~

Luffy and Zoro are my faves but Is2G, I love all ten of the Strawhats with all of my heart. And yet, there’s one Strawhat who I always hope will do better but .... /sigh/ They are outnumbered 6:1 and somehow, Sanji still lets himself be distracted by women. And not even friendly ones but women who are also his enemies. Luffy and Jimbei assumed that Sanji stayed back to clear distractions for them - which was really sweet but not exactly true. I can’t believe there are fans who are arguing about who’s the #2 among the Strawhats. I mean, Zoro is fighting against Kaido and Big Mom and protecting his Captain as best as he can while Sanji got caught in Black Maria’s net cuz he’s a huge perv. And some fans still feel the need to debate who’s better.... Okay then. It’s not unexpected but it’s just disappointing cuz we all know how strong, protective and determined Sanji is. He can be better than this. I hope that he, and all Strawhats, will get their moments to shine at some point during the rest of this arc. Well, actually Chopper might have already gotten his moment when he cured the Ice Onis. That was pretty badass, and got even better when he punched Queen and reminded everyone he ain’t a racoon-dog teehee

Right now, at the end of chapter 1009, it looked like Big Mom would fall off of Onigashima. If she really does, it’ll probably take a while before she can fly back up somehow and anything like that would obviously help Luffy, Zoro, Law and Kidd. I wonder how tf Kaido can both keep the island floating and also fight at the same time. If they should defeat him while it’s still floating, is the whole island gonna crash down? Anyway, I can’t wait for Luffy to kick Kaido’s ass. I’m kinda hoping Momonosuke or one of the Akazaya or maybe Yamato will deliver the final blow or something. I also hope Oda-sensei won’t give us ten or so chapters of Kaido’s tragic past cuz I really don’t care lol. I’d rather see Oden’s dream of an open and peaceful Wano fulfilled~

I’m Thor, Director of Security, and I’m writing today to try to find someone. We met in an elevator, and again at the holiday gala, but never managed to exchange names or information. But I have your mask from the gala, and I was wondering if you might be able to stop by the Security offices (#2045) to pick it up.

If not, please respond via this email or a call to my assistant and we can arrange a meeting elsewhere. I ask that you simply describe the mask to me before I hand it over.

It was the most bizarre email she’d ever read. Maybe she thought so because she knew it was meant for her, but even so, it was still...odd. A little clunky, especially coming from a Director of one of the - if not the - most important departments in the building. She had to stop herself from rewriting it to send back to Thor like she might with Sitwell’s emails to other directors.

After all, that was the only opportunity she ever got around the Accounting department to put her Public Relations degree to use.

Thor Odinson. Director of Security. A busy, important man who was, indeed, way out of her league, had her mask. A man she didn’t know, wouldn’t know, and had already decided not to respond to. Immediately after reading the email, she knew she was never getting that mask back, but she supposed it was for the better.

She’d never be wearing it again anyway. Let someone else claim it, if they could accurately describe it.

Let someone else get the guy that’s too handsome, too funny, too good for you while you’re at it.

Her head spoke but her heart yelled. Her chest had been so tight since that chat with Nat and Wanda that it hurt, but she knew things had to be this way. She was not going to strive for someone that never left his office, never asked for her name, and probably never would’ve even looked her way if they hadn’t been the last two people in the building that night.

She was just a secretary - an extremely busy one, once again - and he was friends with Tony Stark.

An incredibly handsome executive director friend of Billionaire Tony Stark - which, she remembered from their discussion of bosses from the night in the elevator, meant that he also worked for Tony Stark. Forgetting about leagues, they weren’t even on the same level, just the same floor.

She could just imagine what her coworkers - and even Sitwell himself - might say if she...dated someone that much higher than her in the company. She’d seen it happen before, with a well meaning Accountant that should’ve been left alone to do as she pleased, and some agent or something from a few floors up. No one shut up about them for weeks; she’d heard the nastiest things about them in bathrooms and break rooms, and Y/N was not about to willingly face the same fate.

She was so convinced of this avoidance plan until Nat texted her. Apparently, Nat’s new beaux was in on the whole ordeal - or at least that was the only way Y/N could imagine that Nat would know about the email. When she told Nat she wasn’t going to respond, despite saying that she would, the texts turned threatening.

Nat: IS2G IF YOU DON’T GET UR ASS IN THERE AND GET UR MAN I’LL HAVE BUCKY COME DOWN THERE AND DEADASS CARRY YOU TO THE SECURITY OFFICE!!!

Y/N knew that, while Nat was her friend and respected her time and space, she also wasn’t lying. She’d do whatever she could to make this meeting happen, even though Y/N was starting to read the signs that all pointed in the opposite direction. Maybe all they were meant to have was two meetings by chance, and then resume their normal lives. Maybe she was supposed to lose her mask and move on.

Y/N: Nat, i can’t. I’m sure there’s a clause in my contract about interoffice dating or something.

As soon as she wrote it - let alone sent it - she knew it was an excuse. And not even a good one at that. But the shaky feeling in her heart kept her from doing anything about it.

Nat: he doesn’t even work in the same office as you, Y/N! You know who he is and where he is now - GO. TALK. TO. HIM.

She looked up from her desk at the offices across the hall. Security was around the corner, so she couldn’t actually see him from there, but she knew he wasn’t far. His email had made it sound like he’d be in there all day, every day until she came to find her mask.

It would be so easy…

But then her eyes traveled to the list of chores Sitwell had given her today, and she shook her head. Maybe on her lunch break, if she even managed to take one, she’d head down the hall and try to explain the situation to him. Maybe he’d give the mask back, agree that they shouldn’t see each other again, and move on with his life.

All she had to do was ignore the pit in her stomach at the thought that he might forget about her and she’d be fine.

She left a note on her desk that said she was going to pick up lunch, but it was a total farce. As far as she can remember, she’s never lied to Sitwell before, but she doesn’t feel so bad doing it now. He’s done more to deserve it than she can remember.

Without looking to see if Sitwell had noticed her absence, she left the office and started around the corner. Her feet felt heavy, but she moved forward anyway. She had to. If she didn’t do this, Nat would get it done for her, and she didn’t like that idea. Even if she felt like she would never match up to Thor, she wanted to be the one to say so.

She owed herself that much, at least.

She came around the final corner and nearly slammed into a woman she’d never seen before. Stopping short, Y/N caught her breath and looked around the woman, only to find a long, boisterous line of other women leading into the security office at the end of the hall.

She tapped the woman she’d almost run into on the shoulder and asked, “Uh, excuse me, but what is this?” If something in the building was wrong, she needed to know. It did mean she’d have to go talk to Sitwell, but at least she’d have a decent reason to.

The woman just barely glanced at her, but she sounded excited when she said, “The director of security’s searching for a mystery woman! Everyone’s taking their turn trying to win him over because he’s very hot.”

Y/N’s face heated. She almost wished something was wrong. She knew she had nothing to be ashamed of and yet, there she was, unsure of what to say next to this woman, or any of the other women in line, truthfully. Somehow they all thought they had a chance of getting her mask, of talking to Thor and making moves and suddenly, as she glared down the long line of women again, she felt…

Unstable? Unsure?

No. No, what was creeping up her neck and along her arms was 100% insecurity. She had no idea who those women were or what their claims to Thor might be, if they had any, but she couldn’t possibly stack up against all of them. And she’d never make it to his office before her lunch break was over. Waiting was pointless, especially since she really didn’t need the mask anyway.

A thought occurred to her then: who’s to say that he had her mask? He’d asked for the mask to be described to him, and just because she’d lost the metal mask she’d worn that night didn’t mean Thor had picked it up and been saving it since then. Her mask could be anywhere, and she could be standing in line only to be made a fool if the one he has belongs to any of these other women.

Nat would be disappointed in her. Wanda, too. But that didn’t stop the fear and crushing weight of the line of women in front of her from making her feet turn and take her back to her office, where she crumpled her note, threw it away, held her head low for the rest of the afternoon.

“Val, please hold the line,” he said over the intercom. His assistant didn’t even answer, just held a thumb up to him through the glass walls of the office before she turned to the first woman in the...very...very long line and gave her instructions.

Thor was tired. All day, he’d been dealing with women hellbent on getting the mask. Or, as Val had suggested after reading his email blast, getting him. All day, he’d been turning women away, sighing as he thought of the mask locked in the bottom drawer of his desk. Between meetings with these women and meetings with other execs and departments, his mind strayed only to one woman.

Her. God, it killed him that he didn’t know her name. He’d hoped she’d have seen his email and, if not shown up to claim her mask, at least replied. But none of the emails that came in about it got the description of the mask right. Some came close, but their descriptions were just off enough for Thor to know they weren’t the girl he’d danced with.

His Elevator Crush. That’s what Val had called her when he’d finally told her - because Val was more friend than assistant, but that was mostly just between them.

Why hadn’t she called him? He’d given her all the information she needed to get in touch. She hadn’t sent a message, hadn’t waited in the line - though he couldn’t so much blame her for that - but she hadn’t done anything to show that she was even interested in him or her mask.

Had he dreamt her up? Had she been a figment of his imagination? That didn’t make sense, given the very real mask in his drawer and the extremely visceral memories of her that kept invading his brain whenever he should be doing work.

Did she...not want to see him? Did she not want answers like he did? Had his mother been wrong to suggest this mode of search?

That much, Thor couldn’t say.

He dragged his thumb and forefinger along his chin, shutting his eyes long enough for her laughter to jingle throughout his cranium.

A deep ache in his chest told him that he missed her. A part of him wondered how, when he knew so little about her. But another part, a bigger part, was not at all surprised. He’d thought of only her since she’d run from him, regret and sadness in her eyes, he hoped because they’d been enjoying one another’s company and not because she didn’t like him. He hoped beyond hope that he was reading the situations right.

If he wasn’t… He didn’t even want to go there.

All Thor was prepared to do was let himself hope.

At the end of the day, just as she was finishing up her list of chores, Sitwell came out of his office. He had his briefcase in hand and seemed ready to leave, but then he saw Y/N still hard at work and stopped. He cleared his throat and approached her desk, putting his briefcase down because, apparently, what he had to say might take a minute.

“Hello, Mr. Sitwell,” she said, attempting to smile. The day had taken a toll on her, though, so the movement felt lazy and uninspired.

Sitwell smirked. He leaned over the desk, holding his tie back to his chest, and tipped his head a bit. “Did you have a fun lunch break today, Miss Y/L/N?” he asked, tone already condescending and awful.

“I, uh. Just went around the block,” she said, but it was just as lifeless as her smile had been. It was clear she was lying, even to her own ears.

“Oh, sure.” He leaned in even more, so close, Y/N leaned away to keep a safe distance. “The poor little secretary went around the block without any of her belongings on the one day a director on the same floor asked all the eligible women to come pay him a visit. Sure. Only…” And yet again, he leaned in, now using the edges of the desk to keep himself steady. “I see right through you. And honestly, I think it’s quite comical that a woman of your station thought you had a chance with Director Odinson.”

Panic set in. This man was too close, both physically and otherwise. But he was missing half the story, probably more, and Y/N was not about to give it to him. She couldn’t, even if she wanted to, because she found herself stunned into absolute silence.

“You’re a secretary. You do my easy work. You’re nothing. No one. And your ambition is beyond your reach.”

She shook her head, but nothing came out. How was she supposed to explain everything? Why would she even bother?

“You listen and you listen well, Y/N. I will not have some clerical whore reaching into the pockets of my peers. You stay where you’re meant to stay or you’ll be out on the street before you can so much as blink, is that understood?”

She shook. Violent shivers overtook her as anxiety coursed, and she was unable to answer. Sitwell smacked the desk, and the hard slap on the wood made her cringe. A pathetic little whimper escaped her as images of the stepmother she’d run from flooded her mind.

Somehow, she always ended up here: deflated, abused, humiliated, and alone.

“I asked you a question!” Sitwell yelled.

Y/N frantically forced herself to nod. She noticed, then, that she was already crying, and her heart sank even lower than it already had. it managed to find a new low in its cavity.

Apparently pleased by his intimidation, Sitwell’s smirk returned. He humphed proudly, then pushed himself up until he looked down at her through dark eyes.

“Remember who you are,” he said. “That I am above you, and I will be believed.”

She skipped dinner with Nat and Wanda, and that ticked them off. They automatically knew something wasn’t right.

So it shouldn’t have been a surprise when they brought dinner to her on a freshly prepared plate, serious looks on their faces even as they calmly asked if their intrusion was okay. They knew Y/N well enough to know she’d never turn them away unless she were sick, but also that she wouldn’t lie to them about being sick even if she wanted to be left alone.

She was too good a friend.

They came in and huddled around Y/N on her bed, watching closely as she picked at the food they’d brought.

“Everything okay?” Nat asked.

Y/N thought about trying to lie to her two closest friends, but the thought didn’t settle in her easily. All she could do instead was shake her head and shut her eyes because if she kept them open, she was going to cry. If she looked either Wanda or Nat in the eyes, she’d lose it.

“What happened?” Wanda spoke up.

If she didn’t want to talk, she knew she could say so. Her friends would let it go, and if they asked again later, she could decide then if she wanted to say anything. But procrastination wasn’t really her style, and letting things sit and muster really wasn’t how she worked. Knowing that, she figured if she talked about it, then she could move on quicker and go about her normal life sooner.

So she told them about the whole day. About the line out of Thor's office, how intimidated she’d been by the women in front of her despite them having said less than sixteen words to her in total. She told them about Jasper Sitwell, too, and they were loud in their objections to his behavior.

“That’s straight up harassment, Y/N!” Wanda said. “You could press charges and-”

But she shook her head. “He’s not worth it. And he’s right - at least in as much as he’s a lot more powerful than I am. I’d never stand a chance against him.”

“You have to quit,” Nat said. “You can’t keep working for that absolute monster.”

“I can’t. I can’t not have a paycheck. I have rent and bills to pay and-”

“We’d take care of that for a while, YN. Don’t stay there like this.” Wanda reached out and gripped her wrist, a softness in her eyes that made her words true and choked Y/N up. “You can let us help you. We want to.”

“If I leave now, he’ll just find another poor girl to do this to.”

“Not if I have anything to say about it,” Nat said. All three of them knew that Nat didn’t have that much to say, but...maybe Bucky did? Maybe, if Y/N wouldn’t go to him for help with Thor (and she wouldn’t, even now), she could trust him with a testimony against Sitwell?

“That man’s been terrorizing you for years, Y/N. This is too far for too long.” Nat wrapped an arm across Y/N’s shoulders and pulled her close, her food all but forgotten. “You deserve better.”

She sat silently for a minute as those words rang around in her head. You deserve better. You. Deserve. Better. No one had...ever said something like that to her. Not before Nat and Wanda.

So she found it hard to believe. Between her stepmother’s abuse and Sitwell’s drilling, all Y/N thought was that she wasn’t good enough, wasn’t hard working or dedicated enough. She was nothing, in Sitwell’s own words.

But didn’t Sitwell lie? Wasn’t he abusing his power by telling her how little she was worth? And, if she was worth so little, why was he keeping her around?

Were her friends right?

At the implication that they were, tears flowed freely.

Because what if she was worthy? What if she did deserve better than what she’d gotten? What if she wasn’t nothing, but the opposite instead? And what if she believed that she was better, worth more, deserved more and better, and wanted it all?

For a fleeting second, she let herself wonder if Thor was better, more, all that she deserved. But just as quickly, she wrote the possibility off. Maybe she was worthy of her friends and better than her boss at being a human, but that didn’t mean she could reasonably reach so far and expect the best.

There was too much opportunity for her to fall if she went that high.

Down here, salt is a way of life.

Lol, so I’ve read the updated version of those SnK leaks for the last volume and its bonus pages and like... what. I don’t see why I as a reader should accept a poor, nonsensical, edgy ending such as this one and with a smile as well! Fuck that.*

The actual last chapter as published last month was already poorly executed but at least I could sort of get what the author went for. I thought that maybe the bonus pages could actually help me swallow the pill by adding meaningful dialogue or events (Armin being shown Paradis’ potential destruction by Eren isn’t a meaningful event, it just adds more fuel to my long-held belief Paradis isn’t worth the destruction it’s causing. The moment they started becoming oppressors the way Marley did, they lost the right to just claim self-defence for their ensured survival. I’ve always thought that Zeke’s plan was the better option compared to the Rumbling and I haven’t changed my mind, far from that. Maybe, had the Rumbling been treated differently and killed way less, it could have been different. Maybe). Eren’s treatment was horrifying in the last arc, but at the very least I could get over his death, and let Mikasa live on in my imagination. She could just live a simple life with her beloved friends visiting her and some pets she would adopt by her side, happily tending to her garden, cooking, reading, maybe even meeting some new people and making friends with them. As an ace woman, I know women don’t have to get married to a guy or even love anyone romantically to lead a worthy, fulfilling life, and yes, I was more than happy to project on her. Mikasa could be happy on her own. The ending was open-ended enough for readers to believe whatever they wanted as far as surviving characters go, and this was fine.

But now, this. The idea she *has* to get herself a man and some kids to “move on” is so backwards and frustrating, I just can’t. This is literally the exact same scenario as Historia’s treatment post Ymir’s death. Isayama really said “I’m going to develop YH and EM and make people fall in love with them, then kill one of them off after terribly dissatisfying farewells and then boom, timeskip, the surviving members of the ships ~moved on~ with Faceless Man 1 and Faceless Man 2.” If you’re gonna show your MC “getting over” their love for the other MC, the one that’s been built up in the entire goddamn manga, then at least show it on-screen, give us some hints. If the husband is supposed to be Jean, then at least show his face instead of a vague silhouette. Isayama is degrading his series, which is his own problem, but he’s also insulting his readers’ intelligence, which I won’t stand for.

Once again, what the hell is he trying to say with this? I’m not talking about some kind of moral message, I’m talking about the way love is depicted in this series. Love is something to be sacrificed, discarded and then replaced (offscreen). I am pissed off by the ultimate treatment of women in this series, especially after the promise they showed pre-timeskip. Also Annie is lucky Bertolt died because at this rate she would have ended with him despite not loving him is2g.

I will wait for the actual volume to come out in Japan and if this nonsense is actually confirmed (Mikasa being married to some rando while Paradis becomes an industrialized nation thanks to global genocide), I’m selling all my manga volumes. Luckily enough I have some rare editions so i should be able to take my money back entirely.

I am disappointed and done.

*If the leaks are fake I’ll gladly accept I am a clown, and will shut up about this series forever, but I do remember a chinese leaker (I’m assuming the same person) said volume 34 would be the last back in early/mid-december, and this was confirmed in the preview at the end of volume 33, which was released on January 9. Soooo yeah, I’m pretty sure this is legit, unfortunately.

GDBDNSKDJHHDDNDS GIRL................ ok so i very cleverly avoided ranking folklore because every song REALLY HIT and the whole album was just SO.. SO.. yeah. i can however rank miss evermore. i dont want to compare the two album i do not get the point in that. both give off really different vibes. now what i will say is with folklore, AS AN ALBUM, it is just a master masterpiece. The songs flowed amazingly with each other and really held you close the entire first listen. at least thats what I felt like <3 with evermore however, the individual songs are OMG!!! THERE IS LITERALLY NO SONG I DONT LIKE FROM ANY OF THE TWO ALBUMS. but as an album on the first listen i did feel a bit disconnected from evermore which didnt happen to me with folklore. why i think that might’ve happened is BECAUSE taylor is just so brilliant m8.... the MASSIVE contrasting emotions between the songs was too much for my little brain to handle.

Okay so I had an idea for an AFTG fic but again I’m horrible at anything that isn’t hc’s so here we are (feel free to make this into a fic if you want just credit me) *Also all pairing in this are platonic besides andreil and mattdan soo, don’t like get out*

This spawned from that fact that one of my 3 PTP’s (platonic trust pairing) in AFTG is Kev and Neil

This is probably my PTP that has the most popularity in the fandom I’d say (my other 2 are Renee/Andrew/Neil and Neil/Dan which are both *really* hard to find ((at least on ao3)) so that sucks) but you’d be surprised how little it gets like actually focused on

Most times, platonic wise, Neil gets shown bonding with The MonstersTM, Allison, or Matt

wHICH IS FINE IM TOTALLY OKAY W/ THAT

I just happen to enjoy neil/dan, kev/neil,and renee/andrew/neil more

So I wanted a fic that really showcased kev and neils relationship

BUT IM ALSO IN LOVE WITH OUSIDER POV SO THIS HAPPENED

Now onto the actual headcanon

So neil and kevin are like best friends

They've been like that for a while

but they also like fucking despise each other

like they love and care deeply for each other and would probably die for the other if the situation called for it

but will that stop them from almost killing each other 24/7?

so they go to college together

along with all the upperclassmen (so matt+dan+allison+renee+seth) but not the monsters

andrew and neil have been together for a bit

they met around the same time kev and neil did so they've been together for a while (also while we're talking abt relationships, i don't ship renison ((am i the only one who believes that renee is a strong aro gal who don't need no man/lady/person)) but if you wanna make this renison, go ahead)

andrew goes to a different college tho ( for some reason i dunno)

and neil doesn't really like sharing stuff abt his personal life

we all know this

but a lot of the stuff he's done in his life involves andrew

so drew is brought up a fair amount

but when the upperclassmen ask who he is neil kinda just smiles and then moves on so they ask kevin and he's like

oh andrew is like one of my bffls he's a ride or die

(obviously not phrased like that)

and the upperclassmen r like 'ok he can be trusted he's a friend'

(little do they know hehhehhe-)

sO ONE DAY

kev is tryna forget all his issues

so he decides to get hella pissed

wasted like he's never been b4

probably cause thea broke up w/ him last week but we don't talk abt that okay shhhhhhh

so he goes to the next party alli throws and

let's say it together kids

gets wasted like he's never been b4

to the point where the upperclassmen don't really know wht to do with him????

so they call up neil like yo pick up kev he's drunk off his ass like always but we think he's doing it cause he's sad this time'

so neil, being the good and sweet angel (not) that he is

goes to pick up kevin

and like he finds him on a coach almost catatonic just rambling to himself

so neil picks him up and drags him away to his car

and ofc all the upperclassmen r trying to help

so while neil is putting kevin into his car kev randomly just stops talking

(which is weird cause he's kept rambling this entire time)

and he looks neil in the eyes and goes

'i love you neil'

and neil just like takes a second

pAuSeS

because he's not used to people showing him love even tho so many ppl rlly do love him (this boy is2g-)

and then quietly says

'love you too kev'

and finishes buckling him up

all the upperclassmen have been watching this going on the entire time and they read into in the exact wrong way

(they're trying their best, my baby dumbasses, but they're just wrong)

and think this is a romantic love confession between frenimies *instead* of the declaration of mutual respect and affection between 2 bro's that it is

matt is the first one to voice this after kev and neil leave and he is

PUMPED

he is super excited that his bro has found someone to love just like he found dan and is super excited to like talk abt love and go on double dates n stuff

and every one else agrees

which is why they're all super disappointed that by the time a week goes by, nothing has changed between them

so dan matt and allison decide to do something about it (renee+seth ducking out because'it's rude to meddle' and 'why tf would i care abt jostens love bullshit')

they try to set up kevin and neil a bunch of different time s

once with the offer of a study session that they all say they can't make it to, leaving neil and kevin alone

another time with the offer of kevin and neil going to the movies w/ matt and dan

(neil ends up busy w/ a skype date with andrew that he can't pass up cause they're always so busy and he has to see his boyf so kevin just ends up 3rd wheeling matt and dan)

and once with allison straight up just telling neil that he and kevin should get coffee some time

which neil respond to with

'we already get coffee together?'

so dan matt and alli are stumped

they don't know what to do with these 'lovesick' idiots

they're problem gets solved tho don't you worry

so the next weekend, andrew is gonna come over to psu and stay for like a week

neil is oVER THE MOON

HE IS SOO HAPPYYYYY

And kevin is really happy too

so the upperclassmen take this to mean that these boys have finally gotten the hint and asked each other out

so imagine they're suprise when the next time the group goes to get lunch (which they do with each other every wednesday )

a super short blond emo joins them

and no one really acknowledges it?!?!?!?!?!?

until renee is just like 'hello andrew, how are you?' knowing smile on her face

and the upperclassmen are just like 'oh it's the famous andrew, that makes sense' but then they're like 'wait how does renee know andrew?!?!'

they ask and renee is just like 'neil gave me his discord. he thought we'd get along well'

-and then they're just like okayyy renee totally has a crush but well let it slideee

uNTIL

at the end of lunch neil is just like 'oh wait i never properly introduced him-' -cause you're a mess, junkie' -fuck off andrew' then just turns to the upperclassmen and says

'guys this is my boyfriend andrew'

and the foxes just silently freak out

because neil is in love with kevin? it's so clear? why did neil go and get a boyf when he has his love right in front of him??????

GoT Afterthoughts ep. 08x01 ‘Winterfell’(Part 2)

Okay, well now that I’ve gotten some sleep, let us continue, shall we?

So we left off with the Great Hall sass-fest between Dany and Sansa, who clearly have gotten off on the wrong foot. Not gonna lie, I’m enjoying this jealous, very snappy side of Sansa. Remember when I told you all last season that it would take the threat of Dany encroaching upon what Sansa perceived as hers — her home, her closeness with Jon and her place by his side — for us to start seeing her feelings begin to emerge? Well my friends, I believe its begun, and it’s only going to get worse as the season progresses. Sophie did say that Sansa’s fight this season was a more passionate one...

As for Dany’s reply? I’m sure that I don’t have to tell y’all how highly inappropriate it was. Not that i begrudge homegirl a saucy clapback, but that’s probably not the best thing to tell an entire room full of people who don’t particularly trust you yet, and know how dangerous and unpredictable your dragons are. And let’s not forget that the dragons actually have eaten people before, so it’s really nothing to joke and/or scoff about. For me, it harkens on Jorah’s comments in the season 7 finale regarding why the Dragon Pit was constructed...

“Dragons don’t understand the difference between what’s there’s and what isn’t. Land, livestock, children...”

So for Dany to make such a flippant statement just to get a one-up on Sansa isn’t a very bright move, imo.

We move out into the courtyard where Gendry has taken charge of the task of unloading the stock of Dragonglass. Tyrion watches him from the battlements, and spies Sansa and Lord Royce. Their reunion was always going to be awkward due to the circumstances they parted on, but I suppose Tyrion feels like there’s no time like the present to get it out of the way, and approaches them. Bless Lord Royce for watching out for Lady Stark. ❤️ He leaves only when she indicates that it’s alright.

They exchange some terse pleasantries, and Tyrion learns rather quickly that Sansa is no longer the meek young girl he once knew. While she remains polite, she doesn’t watch her tone nor shy away from saying exactly what’s on her mind. This is her home and he’s on her turf now.

They share a few barbs about the purple wedding and Sansa apologizes for leaving so abruptly. It’s really just a formality, and Tyrion knows it, judging by his reply. Is he resentful that she left him holding the bag? I’m not rightly sure, to be honest, and she doesn’t clarify on the circumstances she left under, either. He wasn’t back in season 4, but people do change, along with their perspectives.

“Many have underestimated you, most of them are dead now.”

Well if that isn’t some kind of ominous foreshadowing shit, I don’t know what is? It’s also the truth, so Team Dracarys beware!

Tyrion attempts to quell the fear he’s certain she must have about the Lannister army coming to Winterfell, and Sansa calls him out for trusting Cersei. He tries to explain that he believes this time is different because Cersei has something to live for now. I know everyone thinks this is a nod to the possibility of Cersei being pregnant — but what if it’s something else? What if it’s her revenge that’s keeping Cersei going? It has in the past... I mean, this is Cersei we’re talking about, and at this point I’m just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. lol

In any event, Sansa gives a subtle shake of her head and leaves him with some striking words that are sure to cut Tyrion deep in his pride (beings that he ‘drinks and he knows things’ and puts a lot of stock in his own perceived cleverness): “I used to think you were the most cleverest man alive.” Ouch.

My girl is really out here snatching these wigs left and right!

Sansa walks off leaving Tyrion to ice that sick burn... perhaps he can cool it with that frigid stare Bran is giving him from the courtyard below? Methinks something is amiss, and methinks Bran is gonna be pulling the receipts soon. Either way, it’s hard not to be a little freaked out by Bran, and Tyrion certainly looks the part here.

We move to the Godswood where Jon stands alone before the heart tree. He looks upset. I mean, he is Broody McBroodster and all, but what’s got my precious snowflake son so pensive? He did manage to secure ‘the greatest army the world has ever seen and two large dragons’ after all, and (supposedly) spent the last month ‘balls deep’ in his auntie D, so what could be troubling him? How long do you guys have? lol AND WHERE THE FUCK IS GHOST?

Arya sneaks up on him, telling him he used to be taller, and my heart just grew three times its size. 💗 They lunge into a hug reminiscent of the first season when they parted ways as young, naive Starklings, and dear lord, either I’m the grinch who stole Christmas, or I better call a cardiologist!! Jon even squeezes his eyes shut and looks like he’s fighting back tears! Gahhhhhhhh!!!!!

Of course Jon sees that Arya still has Needle. He asks if she’s used it yet, and she... omits the truth. For whatever reason, Arya isn’t ready to share this part of herself with Jon yet, and it makes my heart hurt so much for her loss of innocence. AND THESE MOTHERFUCKERS BETTER LEAVE MY REMAINING STARKLINGS ALONE IS2G!!

Jon shows off Longclaw, and jfc, these two dorks look so cute with their matching Ned Stark hairdos and their dramatic-ass eyebrows, here beneath the heart tree in Winterfell, and ahhhhhhhh! Okay, okay, I’m done gushing... for now.

Anyway, shits about to get a little weird here... Jon gestures with his hand then bends down, placing that hand on Arya’s shoulder and pulls her in as if he’s about to share a secret and asks where she was before, ‘cos he coulda used her help earlier with Sansa. I say weird because that’s the vibe I got, especially when Arya physically turns her head to look at his hand when he places it there, like she’s onto him or something. She even knows exactly what he’s referring to when she states very matter-of-factly, “she doesn’t like your Queen, does she?”

It’s all very condescending (and cut me some slack, because I’m not even sure that’s the right word here) — but his mannerisms, the way he sort of mocks Sansa about thinking she’s smarter than everyone, then seems taken aback when Arya defends her—when Jon, himself, knows damn well that Sansa is quite smart, and has even said so.

I was ready to climb into my tv and box Jonathan’s ears until it dawned on me just how isolated he must feel right now. The man has literally given up everything for what he holds most dear: his family and the North, only to be met with disappointment from those he cares the most about. And yes, especially Sansa, whom he constantly seeks validation from. His brooding in the Godswood makes a bit more sense now, as does his need to get his old confidant ‘sibling’ on his ‘side’—however immature it may be.

I could be wrong, of course, but my opinion only solidifies when Arya tells him that Sansa is only defending her family, and Jon suddenly drops the act and replies softly, “I’m her family, too.”

With a small smile, she pulls her needy validation-seeking big bro back in for another hug and tells him, “Don’t forget that,” as the camera pans back on Jon’s face and we see the emotional impact her words have on him as he squeezes his eyes shut.

We cut to Kings Landing where Cersei watches the arrival of Euron’s Fleet. Qyburn brings her the news that the AotD have broken through the wall, as to which she replies with an emotionless, “Good,” before we cut to Euron sharing words with the commander of the Golden Company.

He goes below deck to taunt Yara a bit — ‘blah blah blah, and balls and first I’m gonna fuck the queen.’ And I do love Euron, and I don’t know why, but he talks way too fucken much and doesn’t really say much of anything.

Cersei receives them in the throne room and is very disappointed that the Golden Company didn’t bring the elephants she was expecting. She dismisses them, but Euron has other ideas (as he expressed to his niece earlier on the ship). Cersei basically tells him to piss off with an excellent quote if I may say:

“If you want a whore, buy one. If you want a queen, earn her.”

But she’s not the only one prone to manipulating situations, and I get the feeling she knows that Euron’s loyalties are sketchy at best — and so we are given the impression that she relents, when she turns back, and Euron makes it past the Mountain unscathed.

Now we’re in Bronn’s room—whom I guess has taken up residence within the Red Keep? He’s about to get his 4-way on, but the girls keep chatting on about the Lannister soldiers that were maimed by Drogon in the field of fire 2.0 — specifically Eddie, a ginger boy who’s eyelids were burned right off. I assume this was one of the young boys Arya met on her way to kill the queen before she changed her mind? Probably Ed Sheeren.

Arya is not going to be happy about this.

Qyburn interrupts this tepid display of GoT sex (still hotter than floppy chicken sex) with a special request from the queen. He’s got the crossbow Tyrion used to kill Tywin, and a mission for Bronn. Will he carry it out? Change sides? Is this possibly how the kidnap!plot unfolds (for those of you who have considered it)? Only time will tell.

And speaking of such — I’m only 30 minutes into the episode and this has gotten looooooong again. Have I always been this long-winded in my recaps?

I’m gonna go ahead and publish this since it’s already a day late. Maybe I’ll have the whole recap finished before the new episode airs?! KIDDING! But seriously, I’m sorry guys... battling illness myself with sick kids and I’m trying here, I swear!!

last minute last season predictions so i can look like a genius later maybe

DnD have said that their ending will be “exactly the same” as GRRM’s. This is not in fact possible with all the numerous characters they have cut from the storyline, the other characters they have changed until they are unrecognizable, the OTHER other characters who got killed in the place of characters who got cut, there’s not even a Night’s King in asoiaf for crying out loud what are they even talking about.

I think they mean that the White Walkers will be defeated.

Also, the method of defeating them will be the same

Probably some kind of magic ritual involving a sacrifice

the fate of the Iron Throne will be the same

“For the Throne! For the Throne! For the Throne!” they are giant trolls it’s going to blow up

The government will be the same. I think this means all the kingdoms split up. The people left in charge of each kingdom, will be the same, except maybe Dorne as they made such a fuck up of it.

Sansa probably in control of the North, although some kind of Narnia-like co-rulership between the surviving Starklings would also be keen.

Sansa is gonna be really awesome during the battle for Winterfell, she will go out in her armor and rally troops, maybe give a speech, it will be great, fuck the haters

Arya and Sansa survive. This is the one thing I am 100% sure of in the books since GRRM’s wife has threatened divorce if he kills either. If one of them dies (in such a way as it isn’t obvious they will drink some milk of the poppy and be fine next episode) it means we have gone off the rails and are in no man’s land where all bets are off, also i will throw this ps4 controller is2g

Sam and Gilly will survive, Gilly is almost the last pure soul left alive (I don’t have all that high hopes for Missandei) and Sam is clearly being set up to take over the Reach.

Theon will die. I don’t think he is supposed to die in the books. I have read all of GRRM’s novels and many of his short stories and redemption by death doesn’t appear to be something he believes in. “It is men’s lives that matter, not their deaths” yeah but we are going to need to kill some major characters this season and we are running out because of all the ones who were cut earlier and DnD aren’t all that great at avoiding cliches sooooooooo...

on the other hand... everyone expects him to die. This would be a great chance to shock people by NOT killing off someone for a change. Also, there is some book foreshadowing that he will get the Seastone Chair. If that’s the case, and book endgame rulers=show endgame rulers, then there may be hope yet

If he dies, Yara will live, and vice versa

in general, expect the worst and hope for the best will be my motto

The best would be Theonsa. They will never end up together in the books but a girl can dream...

If Sansa has an endgame romance, it will be Tyrion. San*san has fallen too far by the wayside to be show endgame. Podsa would be cute but won’t happen. The Sansa/Tyrion reunion is something sweet to look forward to even if it’s not romantic.

Arya and Gendry: Together again! @ dnd please try not to screw this one up like you did j0nerys im begging you anyway she’s not going off to be a faceless man she’s found her home she’s staying there

Jaime and Brienne are going to bang like mad rabbits. Nik and Gwen are so good together I don’t think DnD could bungle this one even if they try

pol!jon is not going to happen for the reason that it is a crack theory invented by people who want Jon and Dany to break up but for some mysterious and, I’m sure, 100% non shipping related reason, do not want it to be because Jon is grossed out by incest

j0nerys is endgame. Either they will rule together or die together saving the world

at this point i am rooting for the latter because, as I said, DnD are going to want some dead characters and if they get to knock off a couple of REALLY big names like Jon and Dany they are going to be less likely to turn their sights on, say, a certain problematic squid boy who everyone expects to croak anyway. Sorry, Jon and Dany fans, I just love my own fave more.

Dark!Dany is not going to happen. In this house we recognize only one Mad Queen and her name is Cersei Lannister, first of her name, Lady of the Dumpster Wildfire, my beautiful golden trash monarch, my heart and soul. She is going to outlive the Night’s King and when they come for her throne she is going to blow it right out of the reach of all your faves and i will be overtaken by transports of joy

otoh there is every possibility that i will have to endure a Euron/Cersei sex scene brb preparing the eye bleach

Dany is the YMBQ. Possibly this has been changed? I’m still hoping it will be Arianne in the books

Who snuffs out the glorious flame in my heart by killing Cersei? Welllll... it’s pretty much got to be Jaime, right? I don’t like thinking about this, the more I think about it the more I hate the whole valonquar business. Don’t want it to be Jaime, don’t want it to be Tyrion, kind of dumb if it’s just some random anyone’s younger sibling. Unless GRRM has something insanely clever planned that NO ONE has yet theorized I’m pretty much guaranteed to be disappointed. If DnD want to change this (and they already skipped the valonquar part of the prophecy) they have my blessing. But if they have to do it, I hate the Jaime possibility the least, although I honestly have no idea where he is going to find the time what with all the furious banging he and Brienne are going to be doing.

the rest of the “bad guy” characters, Euron, Qyburn, the Mountain, all dead.

Cersei is pregnant, and will miscarry.

Dany is pregnant, and will not. This really doesn’t thrill me as j0nerys is most palatable if there are no incest babies, but the foreshadowing is not subtle here. Also if Fire and Blood has taught me anything it’s that GRRM just fucking loves killing his female characters in childbirth. God I hate it.

Dragons all die. Not sure about the direwolves but it seems likely.

No more Night’s Watch, as there are no more white walkers or wall

Everyone stops wearing black all the time and we get some nice pretty colorful costumes

sansan reverse cinderella, the sequel

... hi. so, like a year and something ago I was prompted a reverse cinderella au where she’s the princess and he’s obviously not. I wrote a scene. today I was feeling like writing random sansan fluff and I had no better ideas so I usually don’t write things out of order but I figured LET’S JUST WRITE THE ENDING. have the ending. (sort of.) one day I’ll write this properly is2g. anyway.

reverse cinderella, sandor/sansa, pg13, tooth-rotting fluff. here you go.

“If you don’t come out, I will come in,” Sansa says as she stands outside the kennels.

For a moment, nothing happens, then -

“You should leave.”

Well, now that she’s heard him, she’s not going to for sure. It’s his voice, she’d recognize that rasped sound anywhere - even if they only talked for those few hours, she had committed it to memory. She looks down at her hand, where she’s holding the mask that he left behind in the dirt in Winterfell’s yard.

It’s still black and sleek, and half of the back is covered in satin.

“Well, I’m not going to,” she replies. “And don’t bother telling me I’m wrong. I heard you. And even if I hadn’t, Theon told me everything from the get-go, I only went around to have other people try it on for show.”

“Bugger that arse.”

She laughs. “Oh, you should be nicer to him, unless he told me a lie.”

“He hasn’t. But - never mind. You really should leave. How aren’t you gone yet?”

“Why would I be?” She asks, sincerely.

“How wouldn’t you?” He snaps back. “You’ve seen where I come from, I suppose you bloody know who I am, you’re a princess, you shouldn’t be here at all.”

“I did see that,” she agrees. “And honestly, even if it wasn’t you I’d beg Robb to take you into his service just so you don’t have to live with your brother anymore, because I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. But I know it’s you. And believe me or not, I’m very disappointed you didn’t kiss me before so rudely leaving me hanging.”

For a long moment, there’s silence. Then -

“Your friend Theon was very clear on how long he could wait for someone to hold my horse and I wasn’t going to go back after Gregor did, little bir -” He says, and then stops himself.

“I did like it when you called me like that.”

“I shouldn’t have. But I thought I had nothing to lose, if it had to be just once.”

“What if it doesn’t have to?” She presses.

Nothing for a long while.

She’s about to push the door open, and then -

“You’re japing,” he snorts, and he doesn’t sound happy. “You couldn’t. There’s no bloody way. And if there was, you could have plenty of people who actually deserve someone like you.”

“Actually, Robb said that I could choose whoever I wanted, and he never said he had to be a king. Never mind that you aren’t even a commoner, technically, so what would the others complain about?”

“Yes, and you’d tie yourself to my brother’s house? When he’s the firstborn?” He laughs again. “I wouldn’t inflict that on my bloody worst enemy.”

“Your brother won’t be at the head of anything much longer if Robb has his say, and since he’s living here now, Robb does. And who says I’d tie yourself to your house and not the contrary?” She smiles to herself.

“But why?” He sounds like he can’t even conceive that she actually means it.

She considers telling him that she wants this conversation face to face.

But that wouldn’t work, she thinks.

“Because out of everyone who danced with me that evening you were the only one who actually talked to me and wasn’t trying to make himself look so much better, or who was obviously wanting to marry me for my title. It was the same as my - my failed betrothal. I thought he did really care and he did really like me, and then he broke it off when he found someone more beautiful and whose family was richer and who was - more experienced and more to his taste,” she says, and it comes out way more bitter than she had imagined it being, but then again she’s never talked about it to anyone if not in bits and pieces to Robb, for years. It feels nice to let it out. “And none of those people was there for me. They were there for my title. None of them, except for you. Excuse me if I would rather give a chance to the one person who actually seemed to be there for me. And who treated me like a person and not some kind of prize. So, will you just come out already? I have a direwolf, you know. Even if there’s dogs inside there, I won’t mind.”

“No,” he says, and then, “you really don’t want to.”

“You know, Theon did tell me why this mask needed silk on the inside,” she says, her voice turning softer. “If that’s the problem, I - I know. Please, just -”

The door opens at once, even if he’s turned on his good side and he’s not quite looking at her, never mind that his face is covered by long, black hair, so she can barely see it.

“That arse,” he sighs. “No, you don’t. But - fine.”

He turns, slowly.

And - right. Theon did tell her.

Half of his face is scarred. The bad kind of.

But that - well, it wasn’t a lie. It just didn’t entirely convey how bad it is, because half of it is indeed a mass of scar tissue, in some places deep enough you can see a hint of bone. One of his ears is gone, and she can only think, does it hurt still?, and the contrast with the other side of his face is even sharper for it. On the other side, he’s downright handsome, with his grey eyes and sharp cheeks and strong jaw. And as much as the ruined one makes her recoil at first, her eyes go back to it at once.

“How - how did it happen?”

“Hasn’t Theon told you?”

“No,” Sansa shakes her head. “I wanted to hear it from you.”

“Not much to say,” he rasps. “I was twelve, Gregor was in a mood, he always treated me like shit and he was trying to pay my sister the same service. I tried to stop him and he figured he’d do that to me instead. She got him off me before he could turn me on the other side and she died for it anyway, I survived because at that point that good for nothing of my father came in and stopped him, fat lot of good it did, and then - well. It was the perfect excuse to get me to do menial work.” He shrugs minutely, still looking down at her. “That’s how it happened. Satisfied?”

She keeps on looking at him. He’s holding her stare, at least, and he obviously thinks he can scare her off, but she remembers how gentle his hands were on her waist when they danced, or how his eyes seemed to gleam when he laughed, and how he was a much more charming partner when he had that mask on. Maybe because he thought he had nothing to lose.

Still -

Still.

She grins and holds up the mask. “Well, I had most young princes and not in this realm try this on. May I?”

“… You know.”

“Still, it’s protocol and there are guards along with my brother watching us from afar, so they have to see me doing it. May I?”

He sends her a disbelieving look.

But then -

“Well, fuck it all. Sure. You may.”

He leans down, slightly. She reaches up with the mask, placing it on his face gently, and of course it fits perfectly. It was custom-made, after all.

“Look at that,” she grins. “Perfect fit, isn’t it?”

“And what do you want to do about that?” He snorts. “I can understand if you think I should keep it,” he says, his voice full of resignation, and -

She grins wider. Then she pulls it off and throws it on the side, where she thinks the pig pen was.

“The hell -” He starts.

“That looked nice with your outfit,” she says, “but if there’s one thing I learned in King’s Landing is that looks deceive and that looking beautiful doesn’t mean that you are. I liked you with the mask. I think I can like you without - if anything you haven’t lied to me once. So, without having to swear you’ll marry me now or anything of the kind, and I think I should like to know better the man who should put a cloak on me, how about you get out of there and do what you were about to before you so rudely walk out on me?”

He stares down at her.

“Are you serious?”

“Absolutely, Sandor,” she replies, and he seems to consider it, and then he shakes his head, closing the door behind him.

“Honestly? I was about to do it because I thought I wouldn’t have another chance. You really want me to -”

“I absolutely want you to. Or maybe -” She grins. “Maybe, I should do this myself.”

“What -” He starts, but then she moves up on her toes because he’s tall, she puts both hands on the sides of his face, scarred and not, and drags him down, pressing their lips together, and - for a moment he’s obviously surprised, but then he kisses her back, his arms going around her waist and lifting her up, and for a moment she shivers at the feeling that he’s doing it so effortlessly, but then she catches her chance and parts her lips, and then his tongue is moving against hers and she’s barely even paying attention to how the scar tissue feels under her hand or about the fact that his lips obviously feel way rougher on the burned side.

And damn, he’s kissing her like he means it and it’s rough enough that she can feel that he’s desperate for it, but not enough to hurt, and when it’s over she’s breathing heavily, and he’s looking at her as he can’t even believe it happened.

“Why”, she says, her fingertip running gently over his ruined cheekbone, “maybe now it’s your turn.”

“Bloody hell, denying you anything isn’t just a thing that happens, is it?”

“Not unless you mean that,” she says, “but until now you just told me why we would be a bad idea or why you aren’t good enough for me. You never said no. So, do you want to continue this conversation in a nicer place or not?”

He stares at her, still holding her up -

And then he smiles, just slightly, but it’s there, and -

“Fine,” he says. “I hated this bloody fucking place anyway,” he adds, but before he puts her down she kisses her again.

Good.

She kisses back, and she decides that she will enjoy getting to know him better.

She most definitely will.

Jyn let out a yelp of frustration just as Cassian came out of his room. He arched an eyebrow at her as he made his way to the kitchen for his afternoon coffee.

“Something up?” he asked casually, “Is it Leia again?”

“She’s insufferable!”

“She’s your best friend.”

“She’s still insufferable!” Jyn picked up a throw pillow from the couch and pressed it to her mouth to stifle the scream. Cassian chuckled, sitting down beside her and wrapping an arm around her shoulder.

“What did that insufferable bee-yatch do this time?” he smirked.

“She fucking wants me to go to Disneyland with her and Han for their stupid charity, something about taking kids who would otherwise never have the chance to go. Ugh!”

Cassian rolled his eyes. “Wow, how utterly selfish of them!”

“Shut up.” Jyn swatted him lightly on the arm. Suddenly her eyes lit up, and she turned to him. “Wait! It wouldn’t be so bad if you got to come along!”

“Jyn, I really don’t think I was invited--”

“Nonsense! The more the merrier, right? I’m sure Leia wouldn’t mind.” Jyn picked up her phone and typed up the text rapidly.

Jyn had never been to Disneyland, when she was a kid her parents had thought it was superfluous and unnecessary, and she had long since gotten over her disappointment. She had never been one for big, ostentatious displays of fun and celebration, so going to Disneyland, and going to Disneyland at Christmas time, was never high on her list of things she’d always wanted to do in life. She grumbled as they made their way around the park, grumbled when a little girl took her hand and made her go on the Dumbo ride, grumbled when they had to pose for the umpteenth photo op.

Cassian, however, took it all in stride. He’d never been to Disneyland either, and had in fact never been to an American-style amusement park, so he took everything in with a bit of awe. He was as gracious as ever with Leia and Han, and very sweet and accommodating with the kids, to the point where Jyn’s deep frown began to soften. She couldn’t help but be impressed at his attitude towards their situation, and she had to admit she felt something stir in her core when she saw him interact with the kids.

When Leia and Han were busy organizing the kids onto a ride, Jyn pulled Cassian aside, intertwined her hand with his.

“Hey, what do you say we find a quiet corner somewhere, hmm?” She grabbed a hold of the collar of his jacket and pulled him down for a kiss, but just before their lips met a shrill voice rang in their ears.

“There you are!” Leia trilled in a sing-song voice, “I was wondering where our other chaperones went! Come along, the children need help getting on this ride!” She gave Jyn a sideways glance as she ushered the two of them towards the group. Jyn muttered under her breath, while Cassian sheepishly ran a hand through his hair.

They couldn’t get away from Leia after that, every time they thought she wasn’t paying attention they would try to separate from the group, and Jyn would barely have her hands on Cassian before Leia was swooping in.

“Oh we can’t do that in front of the children!” Leia would admonish, with a teasing grin on her face.

“We can’t do fuck-all apparently,” Jyn would mumble.

“Language!” Leia would cluck her tongue, fighting the smirk that wanted to overtake her face. Behind her back Jyn would give her the finger, Cassian smothering her hand before any of the kids could see.

It was on one of the rides that took you through a maze of animatronic monstrosities (as Jyn described them), when they got thrown into a pod that contained just the two of them (and Jyn thanked all the deities in the world for that stroke of luck), that they couldn’t hold back anymore. As soon as the ride started and took them into semi-darkness, their hands seemed to move of their own accord. Jackets were fumbled off and hands went under shirts and down pants, and Jyn was thankful for the horrendous music being piped loudly throughout the ride, so it could muffle the loud moans she couldn’t hold back. Cassian’s fingers found her wet, and he groaned into her throat just as the high-pitched notes of “It’s a Small World” started up again. Jyn arched her back as she clung to his shoulders, his fingers pumping inside of her, his lips and tongue and teeth making small work of her neck. She slipped her hand down his pants and found him hard, and when she wrapped her hand around his length he swore, his breath hot in her ear and she fought not to come right then and there.

The pod swung them left and right, and the small space made it awkward, but they’d been teased all day long and they needed the release. Cassian whispered dirty things into her ear, naughty things, things he promised to do to her when they got back to the hotel, and Jyn came hard, with his fingers inside her and dirty thoughts swirling in her head. She pumped him hard after that, sucking and nibbling playfully at his earlobe, something she knew was a weakness for him, and he came with a loud groan into her hand.

By the time the pod arrived at the end of the ride, they had both cleaned themselves up. Pants and shirts were done up, jackets thrown back on, and except for the slight flush on Jyn’s cheeks (which you could blame on the cold) and the glassy look in Cassian’s eyes (which you could blame on the scary animatronics) you would never tell anything was amiss.

As they climbed out of the pod, they overheard Leia asking one of the kids how he liked the ride.

“Oh it was fabulous!” the boy answered with a smile.

“What was your favorite part?” Leia asked, leading him towards the exit.

“Well those robot people weren’t very impressive, what really impressed me was what Miss Jyn and Mr. Cassian were able to do in their pod--”

Cassian and Jyn both tripped over themselves trying to get to the boy, as Leia slowly turned her head towards them, a look of abstract horror dawning on her face.
