On the subject of Plushie Dreadfuls (warning for anti-autistic ableism)

So, Plushie Dreadful’s most beloved plush; their Gender Dysphoria Rabbit; often makes the rounds on here! It looks like this:

A lot of people really love this design and the posts featuring it get a lot of notes!

Plushie Dreadfuls are a line of plushies based and themed off of a multitude of things. These things include gender and sexuality, emotions, and disorders. These designs are very cute and charming, which is why what I’m about to tell you is frustrating.

Plushie Dreadfuls, as the plushies can be based off of disorders, have a plushie for autism spectrum disorder. It looks like this!

This is the Hope Rabbit! This rabbit is cute, and I have little to no issues with it in terms of design. The infinity symbol being blue wasn’t the best choice, but hey. I’m willing to go easy on that aspect because all Plushie Dreadful designs are made by people with direct experience, as it says via their website. This design was created by an actually autistic woman!

It’s in the official description of the plush where I find issues. First, they describe it as ‘for Autism Awareness Month’, which is a minor mistake that I can easily let slide. However, the official description of this item also states, quote, “10% of the proceeds go to the A.E. Wood Foundation when you purchase a Hope Rabbit from the Mysterious Shop.”

As much as one small Google search will tell you that A.E. Wood Foundation preforms autistic behavioral therapy. Autistic behavioral therapy is abuse and torture of autistic people, in order to make them act more ‘normal’. This is where the plushie’s use of the infinity symbol becomes infuriating. The infinity symbol is the symbol of autism acceptance. If they did research into it, they would know this. Autism acceptance; what the infinity symbol stands for; and ABA which forces autistic children to conform to allistic standards cannot coexist. They are opposites. After being informed of this, the company appears to have no intentions to stop funding.

“So what can I do?”

Boycott the Plushie Dreadfuls line.

Leave a review on the Hope Rabbit, letting the people who buy it and the sellers know what this organization does and what it supports!!

Plushie Dreadfuls has a Twitter too. Bring your issues with this up in the comments of this account’s posts!

Do not purchase anything from the American McGee company until this is resolved, especially and including the new Alice game.

Remember, our goal out to be to stop the donations to A.E. Wood! Not for the plush to be discontinued, nor to ‘cancel’ the brand. Let’s all be calm and civil.

That’s all! Again, I bring this all up due to the Gender Dysphoria Rabbit’s popularity. If you choose to shop at Plushie Dreadfuls despite this, please at least do not purchase the Hope Rabbit!

Update #1: We have a response from customer support! From what we can tell, Plushie Dreadfuls’ owner seems to support A.E. Wood and ABA therapy, and seems unwilling to reverse this decision so far. Perhaps if we all voice enough concern, we can change their minds?

Update #2: A perspective from someone who is familiar with the people behind the brand!

Update #3: We’re thinking that the only way to get the person behind the brand to listen is to boycott all properties connected to American McGee. Specifically, the new Alice game. This post has been edited to reflect this.

Update #4: All mentions of Autism Awareness Month seems to have been removed, and the foundation seems to have been removed from the description, and not replaced with anything. Whether or not this means that donations have stopped is unclear. Their Twitter also seemed to delete any Tweets about this plush.

Update #5: The proceeds are NO LONGER going to the charity in question, and American McGee is attempting to sever all links to them!!

ongietunem "identities" are terms surrounding ones delusions effecting their perception of things - such as their body, reality itself, their environment, aspects of oneself or relationships and so on - as well as the disconnect one feels from reality due to these delusions.

this uncludes the episodic, non-episodic, self-aware and unaware.

for a term to be under the ongietusio umbrella, it means one has a hard time differenciating their perception of that specific thing from what is real and what they expirience or believe it to be, that one's perception of such is effected by delusions, be it brought on by psychosis, a schizospec disorder or other.

etimology:

ohn-gee-too-zio / ohn-gee-too-nehm

the "sio/zio" end is pronounced as a soft z, ee, oh sound.

ongietan+delusio / ongrietan+delusionem

taking the first 6 letters from ongietan, the old english word for perception, taking the last 4 letters from delusio, the secondary latin root word for delusion, and taking u+nem from delusionem, the "noun of action from past-participle stem of deludere" - delusiodere being the first root word for delusion.

ongietan, perception, relates to ones view and disconect from what they should be viewing/expiriencing. delusio/deludere/delusionem, delision, specifies and emphasises the disconect from what is real and what is actually being expirienced.

how to coin.

one can coin an ongietusio by using the prefix ongietu-, example, ongietucorse.

also note this is not a term made just for fun, but to actually aid in recognizing the disconnect, aknowledge it and spread a bit more awareness about the kind of expiriences people wth delusions may have. it is a serious topic about mental health, not an aesthetic or choice.

Exclusionist Symbols to Look out for: Part Two.

(Content Warning: Queermisia and Potential Eyestrain, as well as a brief mention of abuse and ableism). (Additional Disclaimer: Do not use this post to harass people. This is meant to be an awareness post). The second part to the Exclusionist Symbols post, and the third overall Anti-Exclusionist series post. Let's just get this overwith. 😅

Aspec Exclusionist Identifiers

So far I only found one Anti-Aspec flag, however I can't find much information on it. Still, best to keep an eye out for it.

There are many common identifiers used by allosexual Aspec Exclusionists, including: "Aces/Aros aren't LGBT" - the most recognizable identifier. Any use of the word "Cishet" as an identifier for Ace/Aro. -Just for clarification, this refers to exclus who believe that Aspecs aren't LGBTQ+ because they're "Just cishets". However, keep in mind that there *are* Aspec folks who *do* also consider themselves cishet, and that they are still valid! Denial of Aces/Aros being oppressed. However, one thing I don't see many people talk about is the fact that there are also Exclusionary Aspec individuals, which is a surprise because those exclusionists are a *lot* more common than what you might think. Some identifiers of this specific group include. "Asexuality/Aromanticism isn't a Spectrum" - yes people genuinely believe this. Equating Asexuality with being Sex Repulsed, or that all Aromantics are also Romance Repulsed - Something that can easily be seen as misinformation, however some people *do* genuinely use this to exclude other Aspecs too sadly. "If you feel attraction, you're not Ace/Aro". Anvil Aro - A term sometimes used by Exclusionary Aros. Mspec Lesbian/Gay Exclusionist Identifiers Since Mspec Gay/Lesbian Exclusionism is almost entirely normalized, there isn't much warning signs. However here are some of the obvious ones I found. Anti-Mspec Lesbian and their varients. Anything that calls Mspec Lesbians or Lesboys predatory. Anything that says/implies that Mspec Lesbians "invite cis men to date/harass them" (This is *incredibly* victim blamey as well). Any variation of Lesbians "not being men" or "not liking men". (Outside of the blatant TERF rhetoric, it also ignores the idea of closeted lesbians dating men to hide their identity as well as ignoring queer history). And here's an Anti-Mspec Lesbian flag that I've seen mostly on Twitter.

Additional Exclusionist Identifiers Safequeer - A relatively new term that excludes Mspec Monos *and* Endogenic Systems. Anti-SAM/Anti-Split Attraction Model - Commonly used by Aspec Exclusionists and Mspec Mono Exclusionists. Safequeer Flags:

Some Safequeers might also identify themselves using a Lotus flower, however the lotus can also mean multiple things. It's best to check. Not Queer Exclusionary, but still exclusionist nonetheless: Sysmed/Anti-Endos - Plural individuals that target Endogenic Systems and other Non-Traumagenic systems, believing that you need trauma or DID/OSDD to be a system. Some Sysmeds are queer, but others are not. Sysmeds are also referred to as Traumascum, however this term should not be used to address anti-endos due to it's ableist and victim-shaming connotations (There are, however, some anti-endos that also use the term, though it's not widely used by them likely for the reasons I just listed.) Anti Endo MOGAI or AEMOGAI- A MOGAI group that excludes Endogenic systems. An "Anti-Fake Systems" flag apparently made by an Anti-Endo, however I can't find much information on it. Still, best to keep an eye for it.

A term meaning ones gender is more masculine leaning, one prefers masculine pronouns, and/or appears more traditionally masculine in most situations, however when with a partner or after developing a form of attraction with another (sexual, romantic, queer-platonic, etc.) has a more feminine gender, prefers feminine pronouns, and/or appears more traditionally feminine around that specific individual.

Flag ID and meaning: The flag has 7 stripes from top to bottom: dark blue, light blue, red, light pink, red, light blue, and dark blue. In the middle of the flag is a large red heart, representing attraction to another being/beings. The blues represent traditional masculinity. The red represents a form of attraction. The pink represents traditional femininity.

The issue you are having here is understanding the difference between an opinion and a fact. In your opinion, systems can come from any 'origin', but that is the same as saying 'maybe your autism was caused by a vaccine'. It wasn't and saying it doesn't suddenly make it true when we have countless medical studies proving that it did not. It is the SAME level of ableism. It's like telling someone with a broken leg 'well maybe you were born with it broken? Maybe you just didn't notice it was broken. Anyone can have a broken leg and just never know it."

You are talking about a physical, measurable injury to the brain. DID/OSDD is a medical diagnosis referring to an injury to the brain which at a young age prevented the brain of the system in question to be unable to form one single, cohesive personality. You calling it an identity does not make it so. You are calling yourself disabled and traumatized when you lack the history to claim that. If you are a system, then you are one because somewhere in your early childhood you were deeply traumatized. You don't have to remember that trauma, in fact you never have to remember it for it to be valid. But you do have to stop telling real, medically understood sufferers that they 'don't know your origin' when we do. It's a disorder caused by brutal trauma. I do know, because I have to live it every single day.

As an adult I've remembered so much of what made us this way. It is painful and my alters have always been hard to manage. So while I appreciate that you believe you should be allowed to call yourself whatever you want? You aren't. This isn't some club you can just join. This is suffering a lot of the time. This is not knowing who you are, this is losing money, time, sleep, friends. The idea that anyone can be a system or that systems can come from anywhere prevents us getting treatment. If everyone can be a system then it isn't worth treating and people who have legitimate struggles. Our pain is diminished by the prolific presence of Endos and their nonsense.

Please understand that if you are a system you are being hurt by Endos proclaiming their existence. It has come to the point where their talking points are google's near top results. And that doesn't mean they are more valid points, it means more people have clicked on them. It's anti-recovery and anti-psych, so it takes years longer for people who stumble on this to get help and get functional.

When a whole group of people tell you that your community is hurting them, you don't get to say it isn't. You are destroying lives whether you want that guilt or not. It's not hard to educate yourself if you stop getting your back up any time anyone says anything you don't want to hear. You don't have to be right all the time, but it's ignorant not to educate yourself when you have been informed you're not right.

If you're first reaction to being told 'you're being ableist' is 'NO I'M NOT YOU ARE' you should examine that.

not trying 2 be inflammatory or start shit, but why do you think transandrophobia isnt real (or is real but shouldnt have a term)?

there are certain things we do experience that are unique to transmascs (being forced to detransition and/or misgender ourselves to access """womens""" reproductive healthcare, having the highest suicide rate in the trans community, hyperinvisibility, etc), and it's valuable to have a word for that specific type of transphobia we face (just like transmisogyny/nbphobia/etc).

like i said im not trying to start shit and id be willing to dm you if you dont wanna have discourse on your blog but as someone who is a strong advocate for the term i just want to know what the opposition says so i dont strawman arguments. thank you for your time!

Okay first of all you’re fucking insane if you think the suicide rate of transmascs is higher than that of trans women, that is flat out untrue. Maybe the numbers are higher, but I guarantee you it’s because people who would be trans women never come out because the pressure against us is that great. On top of that, the murder rate of trans women is significantly higher than that of transmascs for reasons that should be obvious.

Second, you bring up “hyperinvisibility” which suggests you think trans women are “hyper visible” is some way that you would like to have. This is an example of the idea that trans women are somehow more represented in media or more discussed, without addressing what form that visibility takes, which is a very sinister form. The position trans women occupy in media is one of ridicule, derision, and fear. When we are shown in movies we have 2 categories, the passing deceiver who wants to trick people into sex with a tranny, and the pathetic but well meaning man who will never be a woman. Neither of these categories have gone away either, Red Dead Redemption 2 plays into the Pathetic category, carol and Tuesday does as well. One of the first arcs of mob psycho 100 has a man in a dress joke, etcetera. I highly recommend reading Julia Serano’s whipping girl for more information on this and transmisogyny in general.

As for nonfiction, have you ever noticed how conservatives trying to pass anti trans legislation only ever talk about the womens bathroom or womens sports and not having to compete with men? That’s transmisogyny and that “hypervisibility” and it is not good. There is very very very little positive representation of trans women in media, and what positive representation of trans people in general there is tends to be trans men or nonbinary people(double trouble and rain whispers from she ra and the owl house, adira and gray from Star Trek discovery, etcetera) which is not to say there are no trans women represented positively, it’s just rarer and frequently far clumsier(orange is the new black features a mostly well portrayed trans woman but she’s a criminal, and euphoria is just more misery porn about us).

The final point I have here is to explain why transmisandry/transandrophobia is not even remotely real. Transmisogyny, as first described by Serano in Whipping Girl, is the unique intersection of misogyny and transphobia as experienced by trans women and certain transfemme nonbinary people. For transmisandry to exist requires misandry to both exist and be able to intersect with transphobia as a structural axis of oppression which, point blank, it does not. This is not to say there are no struggles unique to transmascs, but they’re not indicative of a larger power structure oppressing you other than transphobia. In the past I’ve made an analogy to explain what happened, imagine disabled women have a word for the intersection of ableism and misogyny(lower diagnosis rates, lack of research into how different neurotypes/disabilities manifest in women, doctors not believing us) and a prominent disabled woman writes a book about it. Then some disabled men see this being talked about online without reading a book, want a word to describe their experiences and create one referencing a nonexistent axis of oppression. Also the people coming up with the word are nothorses, vaspider, transgentleman-Luke and the like who very publicly despise trans women so it’s not a great look!

There are very few experiences and struggles unique to transmascs that can’t be adequately described by transphobia, the “being forced to detransition/remain closeted to access medical care” is something that trans women also experience fun fact, and for reproductive care it’s funny that you don’t mention the lack of access trans women have to it regardless of whether or not we’re out, our transition sterilizes us and medical gatekeeping makes it difficult for us to maintain reproductive health beforehand, and hard for us to store genetic material for afterwards. You being treated as a woman is not transandrophobia or whatever, it is transphobia. Any time you are treated as a woman and disrespected it’s not misogyny or androphobia, you’re being misgendered and it’s transphobia.

None of this is to say there aren’t unique experiences that transmascs have, for example the fact that taking testosterone can heighten risk of osteoporosis and osteopenia and that it isn’t disclosed very often is something unique to transmascs who take T, but it goes the other way too, that I wasn’t told about increased risk of heart disease isn’t transmisogyny, it’s just that medical professionals kinda suck at telling trans people almost anything. I think fundamentally you need to understand that anything you assume is a unique oppressive force affecting transmascs is probably also having an effect of transfemmes and you aren’t paying attention.

I highly recommend reading Whipping Girl as I’ve said, and for a better worded more concise understanding of your question I recommend reading @punkypoodle’s pinned post, Caite explains it far better and more patiently than I ever could.

The last thing I’ll say is that this ask betrays a fundamental and dangerous misunderstanding of what transmisogyny is, and you would do better to listen to trans women about these things. Additionally your desire not to straw man me or my “arguments” seems to tell me that you intend to discuss this further, which is not something I will tolerate on my page, and any further attempts to convince me that misandry is real somehow or that trans women could possibly have any sort of privilege over any other trans people will be ignored and deleted. This is not me silencing you, it’s not me being closed off to disagreement, it’s that I don’t feel any desire to debate my oppression with people intent on misunderstanding and mischaracterizing it. If you want to actually debate this with someone you can go somewhere else, but as I see it the information I have stated and readings I have provided should help you to understand if you actually care to do that.

Keep your own fucking cross tagging that you started under control and stop bullying and baiting people to “interact” with you and then bullying them for that too when they try and then maybe, one day, I won’t. The Hazbin Hotel tag is NOT your tag just because you put the word “Anti” in front of it. What Anti’s do is just an extension of applying the use of a political language that they don’t understand to fandom spaces where they usually get to be the bigoted majority anyway and then now this particular one is telling me that I’m not allowed to ironically use a slam variation of my own tag that they use to bully me anyway just because they put the word “ANTI” in front of it and try to tell me it’s their tag now even though people like this KNOW that that they have a million other more hurtful. harmful, variations of slam tags they could use to bully me that they KNOW I’d never use AND THEN THESE SAME PEOPLE THINK THEY’RE ENTITLED ENOUGH TO FOLLOW ME AND BLOCK ME WITHOUT WARNING ONCE THEY “REALIZE”, COME INTO MY IMs, AND COME ONTO MY POSTS TRYING TO TELL ME HOW TO FEEL ABOUT HASHTAGS THAT THEY USE TO MOCK AND BULLY ME, because the modified tag of this show, that they use to mock and bully the fans of this show, is “theirs” and now this one is “annoyed” that I’m using something they made to mock me, to mock them right back.

But yeah, so it’s like ... So far I’ve been blocked by:

1. An anti with an Ace Attorney Icon

2. A “SU Critical” with a Lemon Demon URL who only ever made posts in defense of Lars and literally absolutely nothing else.

3. (And this one I blocked by myself) A straight up Hazbin Hotel Hate Blog with an “anti” URL, whose icon was an edited or rather “fixed” ( in their own words) picture of the character of Mimzy, and this anti got angry with me in the end because I neglected to use the proper third person pronoun that was not provided out of the two I had used that were provided and were correct and she tried to call me out for misgendering her I guess on a second blog that this person felt the need to point out to me was her main blog in the first place, because she was upset that I accidentally made the mistake of calling them a girl when they used an edited picture of cartoon a flapper girl from a show they claimed to hate as their icon and they presented their cartoon avatar on their main blog that I also had no way way of knowing about unless I checked, as feminine, and only she/her/they/them pronouns were listed there too and I had no way of knowing they weren’t actually comfortable being called a girl or even if they were a girl to start with because non-binary women exist but I didn’t have the time to ask them about all that because she was too busy telling me how much she hated the cartoon that I love and for some reason expecting me to engage in a civil , “mature” (her words not mine) conversation with her about this and then I blocked her for being obnoxious and then she contacted me on her main, that she felt the need to specify was her main, just to make a passive comment inferring I had misgendered her and I had blocked her then there too, for being obnoxious.

And fancy that, all three of you had “interacted” with me first.

I think that this just goes to show that you people have no sense of taste or tact.

And I guess I’m just to much of a stubborn bisexual of the crippled variety to keep my mouth shut when an “anti” comes onto my posts and starts meme-ing off to me about how apparently I’m not allowed to hi-jack a tag based on the (most basic) slam-variation of a show title that I love, that you coined to use specifically as an excuse to talk shit about this show that I love and bully the creator and the fandom because it’s “yours”, when I’m just trying to spread awareness of the dangerous ableism and hypocrisy that anti’s have on this post that you decided to meme off on that you’ve just proven that you do not care about unless it effects you.

Meanwhile, there’s a reason that the post you meme-d off on has had 58 notes so far and most of them are likes.

You are not allowed or entitled to make space just to bully and harass people who are trying to enjoy a piece of media just because you put the word “anti” at the front of the original title of that media .

A term meaning ones gender is more feminine leaning, one prefers feminine pronouns, and/or appears more traditionally feminine in most situations, however when with a partner or after developing a form of attraction with another (sexual, romantic, queer-platonic, etc.) has a more masculine gender, prefers masculine pronouns, and/or appears more traditionally masculine around that specific individual.

Flag ID and meaning: The flag has 7 stripes from top to bottom: dark magenta, light pink, red, light blue, red, light pink, and dark magenta. In the middle of the flag is a large red heart, representing attraction to another being/beings. The magenta and pink represent traditional femininity. The red represents a form of attraction. The blue represents traditional masculinity.

Please keep in mind I am radically inclusive and this term is welcome to all m-spec or "contradicting" labeled individuals.

New & Updated Intro Post

My intro post is now incredibly outdated, so, here’s an entirely new one. Let’s start with a few important updates:

Yes, I used to identify as femme and in 2018 I came out as butch and forgot to update my intro post for like a year. So, yes, at one point I identified as femme, largely due to social pressure and trying to be something I wasn’t. 2018 is the year I claimed my butch soul, and holy shit, I’ve never been happier. This is not an indication of me not understanding butch and femme - it’s an understanding that no matter how old you get, you are constantly on a journey to understand yourself better. Or, at least, you should be.

At one point I identified as pansexual as well as bisexual, and I like the header art with the pansexual flag in it which was made for me years ago, so even though I no longer identify as pansexual, I’m keeping it until I find something I like better. You’d think I wouldn’t have to explain all this but people love picking at these things.

No, I am not going to debate the history or meaning of butch and femme with you or anyone. The links are in my header.

So here’s some stuff you should know about me:

I’m older than large portions of Tumblr, and in a fair number of cases I’m probably twice your age or more. If that’s a problem, I really am not offended if you aren’t cool with interacting with me. Age can be a powerful unbalancer in social relationships. I AM going to get annoyed if you start ‘explaining’ stuff I lived through to me and insisting you know my history better than I do.

Since it bears repeating one more time: I’m not interested in interacting with TWERFs, SWERFs, or ace-exclusionary queers. I’ve been Out for nearly 30 years & I really have no desire to argue my lived experience with anyone. I explicitly reject the term SGA.

My immediate family consists of my spouse @dadhoc, our beloved @apocalycious, my teenage daughter @mistresskabooms and stepson, my adopted son Owl, and DadHoc, MK and I’s 3 dogs: Lyudmila Pupperchenko (Mila), Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Cap), and Ser Davos Seawoof (Davos).

My brother’s band is Downtrodder and you should listen to them, because they’re awesome.

No one in my immediate family is cis or het. I have been called Spider for 20+ years, & now a lot of people call me Mama Spider.

In this house we understand that Ally is a verb, and it’s possible to be antagonistic toward a marginalization that you possess. Internalized transphobia, ableism, etc. are hellacious things to uproot. In this house we try to stay in our lanes & we understand call-outs while being aware of the toxic parts of call-out culture. Be cool to teenagers: you were one, and yes, the shit you said was just as stupid. You don’t win points for browbeating a teenager over an idea, you just look like a jerk.

I used to have a lot of paragraphs here about specific beliefs of mine, but really: Ally is a verb, intersections matter, capitalism is broken and cannot be fixed. I understand the difference between a bolt of linen and four shirts and believe that labor is entitled to all it creates. My class is ‘petit bourgeois,’ as I have seized the means of my own production.

If you screw up and you say something that hurts someone, say you’re sorry, and try not to do it again. It’s not that hard! Don’t tell them they shouldn’t be hurt. This goes double if it was an accident. “I didn’t know that was offensive, I’m sorry for hurting you. I’ll be more mindful in the future.” See how easy that is? That’s how we do in this house.

I’m bisexual, non-binary, disabled, neurodiverse, and don’t want pity or to hear how sorry you are for either of those last two things. Being autistic is just fine, and it didn’t happen because I was vaccinated. I have PTSD and GAD, and I live with both of them. They’re terrible roommates but I’ve got used to them. I’d like it if people would just stop throwing shade at the invisibly ill when we park in handicapped spots – I’m missing part of my spine, for fuck’s sake – and playing Oppression Olympics will get you stern looks and no dessert.

In this house we do nerd culture, there are no fake geek girls, and we understand that women invented masked superheroes (The Scarlet Pimpernel), science fiction (Mary Shelley), the modern novel (Jane Austen), dystopia fiction (Mary Shelley again), computer programming (Ada Lovelace and the ENIACs, which is my new band name), and got Star Trek on the air (Lucille Ball).

If I didn’t cover it, assume if it involves being a jerk or punching down, I’m not okay with it.

If it involves dogs being adorable, otters, mermaids, spiders, most of the major fandoms Tumblr loves (I can’t get into Supernatural, sorry, I tried), or people doing awesome shit, I am definitely here for that.

I am a Social Justice Paladin. I tank trolls. I used to think I was a Rogue, but, yeah, I tank trolls.

About six months ago, someone started calling me the ‘Non-Binary Regent of Summer,’ and I ran with that like an Olympic torch. Yep. It me.
