sometimes fandom seems to struggle with the concept that...people can be kind/"good people" in some situations and very very not kind/not "good people" in others.

I feel like there's this urge to either write off the positive behavior as "fake" or to find a way to ignore/explain away/write out the negative behavior. and I personally find this really really irritating in both directions, actually

Can people stop tagging posts with irrelevant tags? It's rude and it's really f-ing annoying searching for specific tags and getting a whole bunch of irrelevant crap that I don't want to see. It also results in you getting blocked.

So when I heard Joni Mitchell’s title song Blue, a portion of the 1st verse made me wonder how much it made me think about how tattoos as an art has been expressed throughout different generations. “Songs are like tattoos/You know I've been to sea before/Crown and anchor me/Or let me sail away/Hey Blue/And there is a song for you/Ink on a pin/Underneath the skin/An empty space to fill in…” In music, lol, Jagger & Iggy in contrast look so bare in comparison. The tales & meanings are intriguing.

(and of course joni had influence on both taylor and harry, the fingerprints of which are all over things they've done!) joni being a poetic lyricist resonates and has affected many artists to this day in their own approaches to writing.

i am sure many people have gotten those lyrics tattooed on them, and countless others of hers. i see taytoos and h tattoos (he has quite the collection of his own) all the time too. in fact, i doubt there's any impactful artist or celebrity or character one could choose who hasn't been inked onto someone's skin! it's become such an expression of indelible connection and feeling, for people to feel close to things they love and carry that along with them.

Y’know actually since so many of the characters don’t necessarily know what the flags mean or even what their respective orientation labels mean, it has me thinking about how they’d describe their sexualities.

I can see Husk going into how the gender doesn’t matter to him as much as the person’s heart does. Val is just like “a hole is a hole.” That’s all I’ve come up with so far.

I think gay/homosexual/lesbian would at least be known well enough by the characters so I think angel dust and vaggie are good with describing themselves (and either way, probably pretty easy for them to just say they're not into women/men respectively). I like to think charlie is somewhat caught up with modern labels so she'd still call herself bi. hard to really get a read on cherri and pentious, but it'd probably be easy for them to just mention attraction to multiple genders. guys hot. gals hot. non-binary pals hot.

alastor, we KNOW the motherfucker doesn't know shit and rosie's decided to be a troll and not explain what aroace is to him, he probably just thinks he hasn't found anyone yet, doesn't see it as a priority, doesn't usually think about it and thinks everyone else is weird for thinking about it. now husk and pansexuality, probably less known, I can definitely see him just describing it as you said.

val though um. no he definitely knows to describe himself as pansexual I'm sure velvette sat him and vox down for a 3h presentation about modern labels and slang when she arrived. but very possible he did describe it in some fuckass way like you said beforehand or when velvette was trying to help them figure out their labels. I still find this concept very funny btw imagine having to explain all this shit about modern labels to 2 people literally older than boomers. oh yeah and

sometimes I think people think "narrative parallels" means "exactly the same" and like...that's not the point, actually, the point with narrative parallels is that they're variations on a theme that are meant to illuminate something about each variation. a narrative parallel that is just a precise reiteration of another thing isn't saying anything. it's just redundant.
