currently i'm really busy with writing for my thesis, which unfortunately leaves me with little creative juice... ive been engaging with other people's creations a lot more rather than writing for myself, but have some assorted thoughts on things ive enjoyed recently below, for anyone who is interested. feel free to send me asks about anything that's mentioned, but because of the above, might take me a bit to get back to u <3!
these aren't really x reader thoughts, just rambling! if you read this, thank u, i am giving you a kiss on your forehead/hug/fistbump/handshake/whatever words of affirmation you have been wanting to hear today. pick your favorite!
(Pokephilia mention) Pokémon Legends Z's announcement!! It'll be forever until it's released (which, as a true Pokémon fan, I'm very happy about BAHAHAH), but I'm so excited! Very curious how they are planning to implement, what seems to be, citybuilder elements... If Emmet shows up in this game, I'm going to be super delighted, but I honestly doubt it. Either way, it's made me think a bit more about the twins, and Poképhilia stuff in general as well! It's such a shame/pain the main tag is blocked... one day I will start and stick to my intention to write, like, porn about all the Pokémon, haha. A dream...
(cannibalism(????) monster eating??? mention. consensual!) Dungeon Meshi really was as much fun as everyone mentioned! Don't really see myself writing fic about it, except for a very specific idea I had... I like the thought of Laois 'obsessed with eating monsters' Touden got to meet a monster (AKA Reader) who is equally obsessed with the idea of being eaten!! Maybe a mermaid, or something like that? It's his one chance to eat a humanoid monster! Though the others probably won't believe him when they tell him that it was 100% consensual, and are judging him harshly LMAO
Welcome Home updated! Very happy about this. Though I don't connect them publically, I actually have written quite a bit of WH fic and my sfw sideblog for it used to have more followers than this one LMAOO. Maybe one day I'll write NSFW works for it, but I dunno if there's interest... Plus, I very much fall underneath people the creator would consider 'unwelcome' in their squeaky-clean fandom or whatever, but they have like a quarter million followers now, lol. Anyway, Wally is, as has been said many times before, the Most! He draws me in <3
And also, poor Eddie, lmao. It's very interesting to me, with the inclusion of the Narrator, that the characters seem to be forced to steer in a specific direction, if that makes sense? To upkeep a certain mask. I wonder if 'as above, so below' is a reference to that, in the sense that whatever is dictated by the stronger forces of narrative, is what shall occur 'below'-- In their world. Like, the animosity some of these puppets have for each other!!!!! Some of them are just straight up Not Friends, lmao.
I need to play more of it, but if anyone is reading this, go play I Was A Teenage Exocolonist. I expected it to be waaaay more popular, especially on Tumblr, but it's so underrated? The writing is wonderful, the characters are well-defined, and the art is breathtaking! Please take a look at the trigger warnings, cuz there are a few that are definitely applicable, but it's soooo good... If it has to be said, I romanced Dys first, lmao.
I am watching The Apothecary Diaries right now, just started today, and can I jsut say... I'm such a fan of all the women in this show!! I love the perspective it gives on court life a lot! Maomao definitely is pulling in all the men AND women, huh.... i appreciate that. Jinshi also 100% wants to get degraded by her, huh. Maomao is the sexywoman of this show.

when their monsters die, Neil and Jean both have the exact opposite response from the way they’ve learned how to survive
Neil listens. He complies. He follows the orders. He doesn’t ask questions. He answers them. He tells the police he’s too tired to be a problem. His fight is forced to stop (for now)
Jean rages. He’s angry. He’s loud. The boy who bit his hand until it bled so he wouldn’t make a sound when he was hurt is now yelling and throwing things and forcing himself to be known. He fights against the campus police that try to pull him out. His pain is seen by the students in the hall. He cannot hide his hurt from anyone in this moment.

thinking about how len literally carries a weapon that's designed to hurt barry. like. it's his ultimate physical weakness condensed into gun form. i don't think we talk enough about that, honestly. the fact that the gun is more than just a gun to len at this point, it quickly becomes a part of him, and so he's constantly carrying around a weapon that is designed to hurt barry as efficiently as possible
if my brain was working rn i'd be doing a whole analysis of the vulnerability of like. having to put that trust in someone who literally holds the tools to destroy you not just in an emotional sense but in a very tangible, physical one, knowing that they have that capability and trusting them not to abuse it, and how it's like a physical manifestation of the ultimate trust of their relationship, seeing someone holding the knife in their hands, sliding it between your ribs and trusting them not to twist... idk man

In the Sandman, since Dream 'came into existence once lifeforms capable of dreaming appeared in the universe', I wonder what that lifeform is and what did it dream of. Like what is the first dream in the universe about.

I’m sure people with more coherent thoughts have mentioned this but I rewatched honey queen and am thinking.
So like. Rowan raised Linda for the slaughter right. We all agree on that. The whole piggy goes to market / her childhood name being piggy / nibbly’s pig symbolism thing speaks for itself.
But!!! It was super obvious to me why certain lib called out characters during the summoning (tinky wants all the spankoffskis, of course he’s going to call out Pete. Grace and her terror of being watched by god as she does ‘terrible things’ is being watched by blinky) but I had to think a little more for the nibbly/Steph connection.
And then I realized. If Steph had never met Pete and had never associated with the nerds, if her father would have stayed mayor, she would have been the perfect candidate for honey queen. Think about it. She would have been rich. She would have been powerful. You know her father would have broken her down enough to be popular, a hatchetfield darling.
Her father has made deals with the lords in black before, who says that the mayor, a judge of the honey queen pageant, wouldn’t give up his daughter for- who knows? Power? Long life? His wife back? A better daughter?
Anyway I love the idea of the honey queen’s popularity literally eating her alive (a reason besides the immaculate vibes to love human!nibblys popular girl esc outfit) as well as a powerful woman’s power only being superficial and being an easily retractable gift from her actually powerful father
Also nibbly is the cannibalism god which makes him superior thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Reasons I love Xie Lian's character
Maybe this is more of a personal post, but I really appreciate Xie Lian's characterisation and his character arc because of his humanity. He's grown up being seen as special and different, and he really was special and different, and yet is shown at his lowest, falling all the way down from his position to rockbottom and he STILL makes it out alive. Not even alive by choice, but he makes it out nonetheless. And everyday he has to make the choice to see the good in humanity, after having been exposed to the worst human responses and knowing the extent of the damage he and others can do under certain circumstances. Even when he seemed perfect, he never was, and when he seemed despicable, he wasn't that either. He's jaded but not inconsiderate, angry but not vengeful or brash, guilty but slowly learning to love himself. He has the potential to be the most fearsome calamity or the most powerful god, but he decides to spend his time in a little shrine he built himself with his ghost king boyfriend. He can be cold, he can be cunning, he can be naive, he can be reckless, he can be clumsy and he can be stubborn. He can have so many flaws that may go under the radar, so many virtues that go unappreciated by the people around him. He can be the kindest or most scary person you would ever meet, and the only thing stopping him from being the latter is his will to choose to be kind. He is complicated, like a walking oxymoron. And he is traumatised, and he is repressed, and he is trying- he is still trying after everything. He is one of the most human characters I have read despite being an immortal, and gives you the hope that in the face of everything in all its complexity, our choices matter and we as people matter too, no matter how awful our position may be. Maybe the compassion of even 1 other person we meet could be the thing that saves us after all, and maybe no matter what, we're never too far gone.

fumi i hope you know that in an extra of how laios' party is formed he is explicitly banned from getting a crush on marcille.
like i know you went in depth on the trauma he has because of humans on your laimar post about the succubus but please know that he was explicitly banned its so goddamn funny.
im crying laughing while typing this out happy laimar love loses 🥂
Lmao yeah 🥂
It’s a very fun comic! The marriage seeker mystery can finally be put to rest 😌 I don’t really think it changes much, that it overrides anything we knew or that I theorized, esp since we already knew about the party-wide romance ban, but the meme potential (and fic potential) IS so strong now that we know Laios was the one most targeted and distrusted of all… And trust was the biggest issue, romance brings nothing but trouble in their minds but the trouble they experienced with the marriage seeker was because she was disingenuous and manipulative and Laios was oblivious, and as time went on the party realized that Marcille was trustworthy and they stopped worrying about that particular scenario happening. It can def bring a new meaning to the "This is my succubus?!! No one can see it no one can know AAAAA" line though lmfaoo. It’s so funny and honestly such a win for aroace Laios

Hey so uh I'm gonna talk about Feldspar and why they are how they are for a bit
So Feldspar is the first astronaut of Outer Wilds Ventures, they’re a foolhardy explorer, they don’t stop and let people know where they’re going next, and they got themself crashed and stranded in Dark Bramble for an unknown (but longer) amount of time. So, why are they like this.
Well, let’s take a step out, and look at Feldspar as a plot device, not a character.
Feldspar has a unique designation among the other travelers; their role, in the game, their purpose, is to be a late stage clue to a puzzle (I can’t say ‘crucial puzzle’ because let’s face it, all of the puzzles are crucial, except maybe, maybe the Quantum Moon, in that you don’t need that one done to finish the game).
Feldspar, and their first campsite on Dark Bramble, are the last clues in what I’m gonna call the Eye Coordinates puzzle before you actually get there. Their purpose, in game, is to point you towards thinking about how you can use the jellyfish to get past the core of Giant’s Deep, to find the probe tracking module and the coordinates. So they can’t be easy to find, but, you have to have reasons to go find them.
So, we have the most Hearthians involved in any of the puzzles for this specific puzzle- the mini museum under the launch pad tree sets up Feldspar, then first Gneiss tells you they’re missing, then Hornfels and Tephra. Then Esker’s notes tell you they’re hearing a harmonica from Timber Hearth, and Tektite, in Youngbark Crater, tells you the harmonica you’re picking up from the seed that must be from Dark Bramble. There are also Feldspar’s notes on the bramble island; those are both another pointer for where to find them and your first introduction to why you need to find them (the fact that they’re missing aside); they found a way into the core of Giant’s Deep.
And then you have to figure out, how to get into Dark Bramble safely, how to get past the current (taking you from the canon workshop to Brittle Hollow and following Riebeck’s notes to the equator and then south), and why you even need to try (in the orbital probe canon).
So. All of that, to make Feldspar hard to find, but to make you want to find them.
And all of that is what informs their character.
None of the travelers had to have the personalities they’ve been given; Riebeck did not need to be an anxious wreck, Gabbro did not need to be lazy, Chert not… let’s call them detail oriented, Esker not lonely. But any other personality is not going to have a reason to still be stuck in Dark Bramble, where Feldspar needs to be for their role in the puzzle and the overall story. Lazy Feldspar never went in in the first place, detail oriented (or astronomer) Feldspar told Hornfels where they were going (if they even went), anxious Feldspar told Hornfels and made sure it was very easy to find them, lonely Feldspar was looking for a way out.
Feldspar, as a plot device, needs to be in Dark Bramble with no intention of leaving. And so thrill seeking, glory hunting, the first astronaut in the program, the one who never got killed by any of Slate’s contraptions, went flying off to the least known planet in the solar system without telling anyone, crashed and got stranded, and isn’t in any hurry to go home and be the center of attention when someone manages to find them. And so their character is fit into what the plot needs.

I will forever stand by the thought that simply “being online” and consuming or even posting content, takes a completely different amount of energy than messaging or interacting with others online does.
but that’s something I had to train myself to acknowledge and learn. because it used to hurt and make me overthink when i’d message someone and they wouldn’t respond, but would still be active or posting. like I wouldn’t say that to them, but it overtook my thoughts.
then somehow I just stopped and realized- maybe they’re just tired. or maybe they’re scrolling on the phone in their 5 minutes of free time. maybe they’re in the middle of 3 conversations and are trying their best. maybe they’re in the middle of making a post and didn’t see your message. maybe they’re deep into searching a topic and can’t be distracted. or maybe they just don’t want to talk to you rn, and that’s perfectly okay and valid.
all that to say- it can still hurt sometimes, but giving people grace and thinking the best of them and their intentions, and sincerely hoping they do the same for you, makes life so much more enjoyable, and I highly recommend ♡

for the writing game 21!!!! (chosen very randomly and has nothing to do with any of my ocs btw......)
Also i hope you're doing ok, have a nice day <33
Hiii! So sorry this took a second, I've been very tired and busy and to be fair I wasn't sure how to incorporate the prompt or make a writing idea out of it that wasn't just. Net zero information. I guess it kind of still is... again, not my best work, but I am doing these requests to get more comfy with posting my less polished and perfected writing so here goes! P.S. Thank you for asking how I've been! Not at my best right now but I believe I'll be okay :') P.P.S. Cyrus's view on the Church of Seir0s do not reflect my opinions about any of this it's just what he thinks. As a character
Tumblr media
21. amber
The cathedral of the Garreg Mach monastery was bathed in sunlight as the dawn was breaking. A lonely figure sat up on the bench, his white hair making him look like he was glowing. Cyrus found his own snow-white hair more annoying than he did beautiful or endearing.
As his mind woke itself up, a sense of urgency crept up on him. Right… Before he gave in to the sleep deprivation, Cyrus remembered watching Dimitri stand by the destroyed statue of the Goddess. Cyrus had seen him do this so many times, and, even after talking to Dimitri as much as he did, he never understood what the prince hoped to accomplish with praying to the Goddess. Both of them were nothing but toys in her wicked game, after all. Or that was how Cyrus saw it.
Looking up at the spot where Dimitri should’ve been, he saw nobody. Cyrus raised an eyebrow — where could he have gone off to? Dimitri barely left this spot before. Cyrus had to wonder if the man was safe now, as he remembered his tendencies to get himself in danger.
“Cyrus.” A familiar deep voice made Cyrus turn his head and finally look away from the statue ruins, before his thoughts could consume him. The familiar sound of armor clanking with each footstep gave Dimitri away.
“Your Highness?” Cyrus’s voice was still hoarse with sleepiness.
“You mustn’t sleep here. It is cold,” Dimitri said in a harsh, strict voice, his eye yet again set on the ruins of the statue. However, Cyrus could spot something in his hand — it was shining with a yellow glimmer, and was familiar to Cyrus for some reason. That made him look down on his cravat that always had been pinned by a shiny amber jewel… Only to find it gone.
“It seems you’ve lost this.” Looking away, Dimitri extended his hand to give the jewel to Cyrus; indeed, it was his amber jewel that used to be attached to the pin.
“Thank you.” Cyrus took it with hesitation.
In response, Dimitri groaned and looked away. “Think nothing of it.”
“Where were you during the night?” Cyrus insisted on talking to Dimitri, who appeared to be vexed, but actually wasn’t.
“While you were asleep, I noticed that you lost this,” Dimitri said, his voice somber. “So I went looking for it.”
Cyrus’s bright eyes widened, the curls of his hair bouncing slightly as he tilted his head, confused. He wanted to ask why, but didn’t want to sound ungrateful. Still, Dimitri picked up on it:
“Maybe you would leave me alone if I did something like this,” he said, his brow furrowed. “There, I did something kind to you. Will you leave me be?”
Heaving a sigh, Cyrus smiled as he looked down on the jewel. It had a dried blood stain on it. He shook his head slowly, and Dimitri’s eye widened with surprise.
“I’m afraid I cannot do that, Your Highness.”
