New album from legendary Shoegaze band Slowdive came out today and ohhh my Lordy lord is it a good one. It’s definitely very different from the sound they were going for in the 90’s, clearly influenced by their previous project a few years ago as well as the huge amount of new indie music that’s come out since the 90’s.
This thing is a slow ethereal soundscape with such an immense attention to detail that it feels like a tar pit. You look a little too close and don’t notice yourself sinking in. Falling deeper and deeper into the repetition of intersecting melodies, of these insane synth soundscapes, of the gentle voices of Rachel and Neil guiding you down to your grave. Always amazing when bands are able to continue to put out music at this level even after thirty years. A must listen for any fan of Shoegaze or indie music in general.
made for the fourth rail emeris album. this might possibly be one of my favorite pieces i’ve made and i’m so glad that it’s finally being used years later. you can read more about it on @starvingmule at instagram
I recently did a project for local band Weird Year (for their latest album Nick Hates The Beach). It ended up something like a tour journal following a band on a strange roadtrip along the California coast, dodging the surreal and the fantastic all the way to a gig.
This was such a fun project for me. I love doing art for music and making up a little narrative of an indie band roadtrip was just... so damn fun.
If you care to listen to the album its on Sp0tif¥ and AppIe Music. Or have a look at their music videos on youtube. ✌️
This album just has this fucking incredible vibe. You put it in and you get to sink into this dark and eerie smooth world filled with deep and dark tones that are gonna lull you into a god damn trance. This thing seriously hypnotizes me and just instantly puts me into such a relaxed and at peace mood.
me when First Light comes on and suddenly the chords are swelling and the lyrics are of finding out even hell has a way out and the relief of seeing the sky again and the music is music-ing and I ascend to another plane of existence in true hozier stan fashion
Hello, I'm Lady Charles and my debut album is out! Inspired by the glamorous art rock of David Bowie, Kate Bush and Genesis, the Indie fun of Of Montreal, Late of the Pier and MGMT, and the general strangeness of growing up in a world that doesn't really make sense. If you're interested and check it out, I hope you enjoy it. <3
