#genshin#genshinedit#genshinet#genshin impact#mondstadt#liyue#inazuma#sumeru#m:gfx#m:*#m:gfx:all#flashing tw#trying something different :> although it nearly killed my laptop for good in the process#i've been wanting to do something representative of the archon quests for a while#and then i rediscovered those stamps from last year's new years web event and wanted to use them#but that's also why fontaine isn't here because it doesn't have one OTL sorry fontaine enjoyers#i considered making the stamp myself but i'm too lazy and this whole thing was already a lot of effort#the scenes i tried to balance it between like. key/memorable moments + different characters + cohesive compositions#(e.g. nothing too chaotic with movement and angles like most fight scenes tend to be)#the quotes similarly were ones i personally found really memorable and/or representative of the archon quest in question#i didn't even realize all of them except inazuma had their nation's theme (freedom contracts wisdom) in them until i put this together#so i skimmed through for an eternity one for inazuma but honestly i couldn't find any i wanted to use more than the ambitions one#and ambitions is a major theme the inazuma quest focused on that tied a lot into the themes of eternity anyways#if i had included fontaine the quote i chose would have balanced it out since that one doesn't explicitly say justice either#it was gonna be neuvillette's line#you are a devious one focalors. things as being as they are... surely you know that i could never again declare them to be 'guilty'

Good luck to anyone wishing for Kazuha and Alhaitham!
He saw the Traveler reappear from wherever they had been sent to by the Shogun, he saw the Shogun pose in what seemed to be defeat, he saw Gorou and his men congratulate the Traveler on their hard-earnes victory, yet his mind was on one thing.
You.
So he ran. He ran past Gorou and his men, past the Traveler and Paimon, down the stairs from Tenshukaku. He brushed past the shogunate, didn’t stop at the stares of Inazumans, and he didn’t care that he knocked down some poor bystander.
He needed to see you. He needed to right the wrongs he did when he left Inazuma and he needed to do it or else he felt like he was going to die.
He soon made it out of Inazuma City but he didn’t seem to notice. His mind plagued with memories.
How he first met you after you accidentally threw a ball in his house’s window when you two were children. How he finally asked you out after years of being “best friends”. How he kissed you for the first time after you two had play-fought near the ocean.
He also remembers when the decrees hit. The look of pure horror on your face when he told you he was leaving Inazuma. The way tears flowed down your cheeks like waterfalls as he turned and left. In fact, that was the last image that he had of you stored in his mind.
Kazuha panted heavily as he slowed to a stop as he crossed over a familiar stone bridge. He looked around for a sign, any sign that you were still here. He let out a shaky breath when he noticed your house, the familiar pot that you made stood right outside the front door.
He walked fast as he walked up the short stairs to your house’s door, taking a breath before knocking on the door. He waited for what seemed like eternity before he heard the door open. He looked up, he was going to see you. For the first time in forever he was going to see-
He blinked as he saw an unfamiliar female open the door with a confused look on her face. Her mahogany eyes met Kazuha’s face as she tilted her head in question.
“Do you need anything?”
Kazuha opened his mouth as his mind went blank. He quickly shook his head before answering, “Does a {name} live here?”
The girl thought for a second before shaking her head, “Do you mean {name} Hitaksaki? She died a few weeks ago, why?”
Kazuha felt hinself go pale, you had died? But how…was it from grief? Illness?
Kazuha spoke shakily, “H-How did she die?”
“I’m not sure, I don’t think anyone knows really. Some Shikanoin guy has been looking into it. You could ask him if you’d like.”
“Did she leave anything? Maybe a letter or a trinket?” He was desperate now, he needed to have something, anything left of you.
“I’m sorry.”
Kazuha nodded, muttering a “thanks” as his heart sunk for a second time that day. He felt tears dripping down his cheeks as he started back for Inazuma City. He wondered..

Same anon as the Makoto and Scara fic idea btw
This is an alternative idea to that one, in which Makoto sealed herself inside the electro gnosis without Ei's knowledge (as I'm like 90% sure if Ei did know she would not have let Miko just trade it away or let it out of her sight probably) and slowly regains her power from inside it, though she is completely unaware of everything going on around Tayvat which includes the passage of time
So basically everything essentially follows cannon for the Raidens until like 20 minutes before Traveler goes to fight him, which Makoto unconsciously decided then that she was well enough to take a physical form again... This results in Makoto suddenly appearing right in front of Scara, scaring the shit out of him as he thought she was Ei at first before realising that no, this woman who looks weirdly like him and Ei, is not in fact his mother???? Like Makoto's face is more kind looking then his or Ei's, her eyes and hair were a touch too light to be Ei along with all the other very subtle differences.
Meanwhile Makoto is half confused and half panicking on the inside cause why does this boy?? (Man??) Look so much like her? Does she somehow have a son? Or did she and Ei somehow get a younger brother???? (I hc that scara was unconsciously designed after Makoto and thus looks more like her then Ei, though literally noone other then Ei or Miko have noticed it. Also I find the idea of her panicking and not even considering that perhaps he is her nephew due her being disoriented and a bit confused about everything due to her essentially sleeping for centuries)
Scara ends up questioning her on where the hell she came from and why does she look like him, which leads to her revealing that she was inside the gnosis and that she is related(??) To him. The conversation then ends up with her questioning that is happening and why are they both standing within a robot?? Which of course, leads to Scara revealing that he is going to use it and the gnosis to achieve his birthright and become a god. Which actually leads to some both baffling and amusing things to happen over the course of the fic lol
(also unrelated hc, I think Makoto would enjoy sour food, not for any particular reason) (this is actually making me think of making a genshin character hc doc and a genshin nation hc doc,,,, hmm)

the sumeru archon quest popped off. I started the second act and I just HAD to finish it today because I was so engrossed. this feels like a big step up from inazuma's wobbly writing, and it's also a more interesting and ambitious plot than mondstadt and liyue had. I particularly like that the traveller feels a bit more...engaged? Like an actual character? In the other nations, the traveller has kind of been a bystander. while I wish they would commit to giving them more voiced lines, the sumeru storyline feels more geared around them. With the other nations, it often felt like the plotlines could progress in almost the same way whether the traveller was there or not. this time, they have clearer and more specific motivations: it's obvious why they want to find the dendro archon - specifically the god of wisdom - and ask her questions about their sibling. their relationship with dunyarzad is also developed enough to provide secondary motivation, too - she feels like a much more successful, developed npc in comparison to teppei, who we actually get enough time with to care about.
all of the characters are introduced at a nice pace, as is a lot of the worldbuilding. I like that we meet new characters with each new area - collei and tighnari for the forest, dehya, nilou, dunyarzad and nahida for sumeru city, alhaitham and dori for port ormos. it breaks it up well and stops it from feeling overwhelming. the fact that the first act lays the groundwork for how sumeru works - the eremites, the akademiya, canned knowledge, the akasha, etc. - means that second act can delve into these concepts more thoroughly without being too confusing. I love how creative and weird the second act was, too! I wasn't expecting them to go with a weird, time-loop type thing, and I love that a genshin storyline actually managed to throw me off and do something unexpected for a change
it's a much stronger start than sumeru had, and the fact that the archon quest may not actually be wrapped up until 3.2 gives me a lot of hope for the rest. I can't wait to see how scaramouche ends up involved. my guess is that the fatui will have some hand in the dream-harvesting that the akademiya is doing, but beyond that, I'm not sure what to expect. I'm very excited, though
also alhaitham is a sussy bastard. I could fix him but whatever's wrong with him is much hotter
#genshin impact#generally i think the quality of the quests has been good since the end of inazuma#i wasn't as harsh on inazuma as some people but this is LEAGUES better#i LOVE alhaitham#i want to know what he's up to#i like that he doesn't really act warm to the traveller. he just uses them#he's clearly got his own agenda but who knows what#i like dehya too! and nahida is really interesting!#i was never a nahida hater but i think her set up as an archon is fascinating#the only character im not as fussed about is nilou tbh. but that's mostly because she didn't do very much#funnily enough i also think paimon was less annoying in this quest#i felt like traveller and paimon felt like a proper unit in this quest. their bond was clear and quite nice to see#i'm just happy overall#i could do with less of paimon recapping with obvious exposition. but it's definitely been worse

Anyway, all the gods are unable to do anything with their divine presence like, they CAN still manifest and be seen and interact, but their mere presence is quite frankly terrifying. Kinda like biblical angels and stuff
Like, Venti doesn't wanna scare people, or even directly let them know he's there since he wants to keep his promise of distance from their affairs. The way the whole vessels thing works is that a god could manifest in a mortal's body. It's a lot like what Nahida does with projecting her consciousness, except they don't exchange bodies and the owner is still aware (tho the mortal can still lose consciousness sometimes while the god is the one taking the wheel). Most of the time the god is another presence in their head and they can freely switch between each other
Nameless Bard being in the au is a mystery that will never get addressed though

Un-Fucking Sangonomiya Kokomi
(But I’m too tired to do it well)
When the Inazuma Archon Quests first happened, I thought for sure that Kokomi was gonna be an antagonist. Morally grey at least.
The way she was spoken of was nearly reverent. The great strategist of Watatsumi Island, flawless strategies, fighting the Shogun’s armies against all odds, revolting for the sake of vision holders throughout Inazuma.
And somehow, no one questions her. How she got there. Her methods. Her insistence on bringing Watatsumi to war despite a complete lack of domestic agriculture or manpower or resources of any kind.
And you know what? She had every reason to revolt, none of them being for the vision holders.
Doesn’t she have suspicious connections to Enkanomiya and the slain god Orobashi as Divine Priestess? How could she possibly not know about the Delusions?
I propose that, in this mini reimagining of that quest, Kokomi had to have ulterior, not necessarily devious, motivations. To reinstate Watatsumi as an independent entity from the shogunate, in this case through civil war. Because the Raiden Shogun would sooner let them wither away than help them, walking liabilities, the people of a previous god. Tatarasuna, Seirai, and Tsurumi Island all faced that same fate.
In terms of domestic power, she would be attracting strong vision users with deep grudges against their government. People with ambition. People willing to look at Watatsumi not as an extension of Inazuma, but as the seat of ideological revolution. Gorou, Kazuha, and even the Yashiro Commission from behind the scenes. Two noble clans from the mainland and a war hero.
Many of her allies were also foreign, like the Fatui and the Crux. You must be recognized by outsiders to really be acknowledged. As the troops of the Tsaritsa, the Fatui’s involvement would legitimize Watatsumi as its own entity, while Beidou has significant clout in Liyue.
Add a celebrity warrior, savior of two nations? You’ve got the most popular campaign in the world.
Maybe Kokomi even allowed the production of delusions using Orobashi’s remains. Tatarasuna isn’t governed by her, but it’s an easy stretch for the Divine Priestess to be hanging around her god’s corpse. Still doubt she’d be fully aware of the long term effects though. Either that, or Watatsumi’s original situation was so dire that it became a “good of the many” decision.
All in all, Kokomi could have introduced a whole new element of political intrigue, and I will die mad about how she got shafted. I’m gonna go pass out now. Maybe tomorrow I’ll make more sense.

“What are you doing here?” Sara nearly yelled, dragging you by the wrist behind a building. “You shouldn’t be here.”
You knew it was stupid, coming to the Kojou Encampment just to see her. You wanted to say your last goodbye before you tried to leave Inazuma. In your eyes it was now or never, after all, vision holders were not welcome anymore.
“I came to see you”, was your reply, taking her hand off of your wrist. “I’m leaving.”
Sara’s eyes snapped to yours, a look of almost horror overcoming them. “You’re joking…{name} you will not make it past the storm-“
“It’s either to try that or die from the hands of the Shogun”, you cut her off, your eyes narrowing slightly.
Sara only stared there appalled, her mouth opening but nothing coming out. There was a heavy silence that made its why between you two, settling there.
“No, no I won’t let you. You’re not dying on an empty dream”, she looked away, closing her eyes tightly. “I can help, keep you in a discreet place until it all blows over. The Shogun won’t ever know.”
“And how long do you think that’s going to last. Look around you Sar’, think. They’ll find me one why or another, and it’ll all lead back to you. I don’t want you to be punished for something I did.”
She bit her lip before meeting your gaze again, a sense of melancholy hidden behind them. “I..you’re right. I can’t help hide you. But maybe I can help you leave.”
“What do you mean?” It was your turn to be confused now, help you leave? You didn’t think she owned a lightning repellent boat.
“I could ask my father for a transport boat, see if you could stowaway on it. Or maybe I can sneak you into…what’s her name? Right, Captain Beidou’s ship. I can ‘persuade’ her with the Kaedehara boy.”
“You’d really do that for me?” You glanced up at her, tilting your head in question.
Sara nodded, “Of course {name}, you’re one of my close friends. In fact…there’s a shipment boat the my father has ordered to leave for Liyue in a few hours…I think I can sneak you on by claiming I’m doing a check-up routine on it.”
“Actually y’know what”, Sara turned to face you, a small smirk on her face, “I’m positive.”
It was a few hours later, both of you had made it back to Inazuma. When you both had made it to Ritou, Sara motioned for you to hide behind a building yet again as she worked her magic. It wasn’t long before she motioned you to come to her.
You shifted the hood over your face, looking at the ship. “There’s plenty of storage boxes in there. You’ll have enough room to fit”, Sara’s voice cut through the air as she turned to look at you.”
“And don’t worry about them sinking, this ship is made for storms”, she continued as you climbed into a box, going to put the top on over it.
“Thank you”, you spoke softly, smiling as you went to shut the top. The motion was stopped however, as you saw Sara’s hand on the top.
“Be safe”, she said, as she looked at you one final time,” I except to see you back here when this is done.”
You nodded, “I will.” The box’s lip was shut as you heard Sara walk away. You would have to deal with the cramps of being in this box for a few hours, but your mind was still on Sara. You hoped you’d see her soon. That thought would keep you going, even when you heard the crew board the ship, and even when you could feel the weight of the storm…
The thought if seeing Sara again brought you hope and joy.

Been procrastinating doing the Ei quest(s) and its got me thinking how alike she and Ayaka are. Just think about it. Marinate it. Put in the oven for 350° for 15 minutes
Yeah I think Ei and Ayaka (or the Kamisatos in general) were supposed to be mirrors of each other in some way during Inazuma
Like they both lost family (Ei lost her sister, Ayaka lost her mother and father) and were both thrust into a role that they may have not been entirely ready for. But they differ with how they took on that role. (i could write more but i'll stop here lmao)
#i do think a lot about how ayaka and yoimiya's story quests are required for inazuma archon quest#like ayaka's does seem to be about loss in some sort of way and not letting worry/fear hold you back from living#and yoimiya's is about eternity looking different to different people (fireworks are so quick and the exact opposite but the memories stay)#it's really interesting#hi steel!
