I forgive her. I forgive her because I know she didn’t know any better. I forgive her because I know what she was going through at the time, and she did her best with the abilities, tools, and people around her. I forgive her because I know her intentions were pure, and her best is always enough. Ultimately, I forgive her because she deserves to be freed. At peace. She deserves to let go and heal. She deserves happiness. She is my past self.

while i'm using this blog for elementalposting i have a thought / question i'd love to hear other ppl's thoughts on too
so of course ember & wade get the complementary colors of orange and a more turquoise/green blue (as opposed to a "pure" blue more like ultramarine) that wade has, and i was appreciating how neat it is and how good it looks that the Combination / Overlap / Meeting of their colors is given this like, purple/pink color? especially visible on wade when they touch, i think, as the one more refracting & reflecting light while ember emits it. like it's great to emphasize The Metaphor of their elements & colors & how they interact & affect each other, and it's also great b/c it looks good
but my thought was mostly like "is that how their orange and cerulean colors would combine according to Additive color mixing??" since like, looking at a Subtractive color wheel re: like using pigments and all, orange / blue green / fuschia type red violet purple are Kind Of close to being triadic, which you know, based on Color Theory looks good lol, and i definitely think that's the most important reasoning to use here like, their colors mixing into a bright purple has Meaning and it Looks Nice lmao. but ember is Luminous and wade reflects the light wavelengths that result in the visible blue green we see him as, so it's like, if we're just going with the idea that their Light's interplay is the interplay of orange & cerulean, would the Additive Color Mixture of those colors of light maybe actually result in that magenta-y color / a pink purple? (while ofc the subtractive mix of colors that are complementary or close to it make less saturated dark greyish brown type situations)
i've made a rough diagram about it lol
Tumblr media
i'm not that practiced at working out how different colors of Emitted Light mix either in theory or experimentally lol like, i don't have an Orange and Greenish Blue spotlight to shine on the same spot and see what happens. but using my own visual aid it's like, okay, so basically what's happening is Red (and a lil green) + Blue (and a lil green)....we know the Red + Blue light straightforwardly would create Magenta, and if it was Red + Blue + an equal amount of Green, it would create a White light. but because it's Not the equal amount of green, and it's More of the red + blue, that's kind of equivalent to "okay this Would be white light, but it's then pulled into the Magenta field a way," or "magenta, but pulled a bit towards white" so, Brighter, more of a Pink maybe lol
basically i'm just thinking like "ooohh this might be kind of like how the Physics of their light would really play out" even when it's like, okay, wade's not quite Generating light the way ember is, this isn't like, "realistic" realistic and there wouldn't really be any real world experimental counterpart, like, dye some water wade's color and get an orange flame going and see what happens when you get them really close....that's not gonna yield purple light lol. at least not visibly. and idk what would happen if you were like "let me get on the other side of this small clear tank of dyed water and see what the torch looks like from here" same as i don't know what would even happen the [wade-colored spotlight] and [ember-colored spotlight] were overlapped. and i also know that color theory, whether subtractive or additive, also just goes "it's complicated" lol like the Reality may not always fit the Theory, of course
and i'm not looking for it to be like "yeah wow this is peak realistic regarding the laws of optics" b/c it's already Not trying to be, serving the Metaphors and the Visuals comes first rather than like, trying to be hard scifi about "what if people were made of fire or water" and like, it's fun to think of how things would work in that scenario, Unless it gets in the way of anything else lol in which case it's like "it doesn't really have to matter that this part isn't 'realistic' because this is built around a Metaphor, not around 'but how would it all Really work if your body was all flames'"
(bonus: kinda fun thinking too about how ember's flareups are Also purple....it's sure yet more "oh god additive light rules" trying to look up the colors that fire can become lmao but it's also fun thinking about how like, via wade this becomes about more than just her Temper and about breaking down that temper into basically repressed or suppressed emotions....and before wade the Purple Light Of Ember's Feelings is being let out through her temper building up and bursting out, and then Through him the Purple Light Of Ember's Feelings is coming out perfectly naturally through their interacting. or maybe they're separate purple things lol....hey girl. did you know. your violet doesn't have to be so violent....End Of Post)

Just Some Guy subgenres
Shalem -> Wants to desperately be Just Some Guy, runs at full speed every day so his backstory can’t catch up to him.
Mr. Nothing -> Insists he’s Just Some Guy, but he inevitably drifts closer and closer to his backstory, which does not pursue him, because it knows that, with time, Mr. Nothing will come to it by himself.
Jaye -> Actually, genuinely believes he’s Just Some Guy, has deep connections to the most important, influential, and powerful individuals of several large organizations, but is unaware of it.
Lee -> Blackbelt Just Some Guy, has become incredibly well-versed in dodging his backstory and not getting put in situations, and when he is put in situations, manages to navigate his way through. Is surrounded by people with backstories, and is incredibly well connected.
Lumen -> Is actually Just Some Guy, please help him.

The Fairy Tail fandom, as a whole, should talk about the Dreyar family more.
Like. There are so many fucking loose ends with all of them. Yeah, there are the basic questions like who is/was Makarov's wife/Ivan's mother; who is Laxus' mother?
Both are questions I've had since basically season one, but I also need to know how Ivan found out about the Lumen Histoire? How did he know it had some kind of important power, or did he just assume it did? What was Ivan's and Laxus' relationship before Ivan was expelled? If it was good enough for Laxus to do a complete 180 in personality, why didn't he just quit the guild and join Ivan? Why did they basically stop talking after Ivan was expelled? if their relationship was bad, why the hell did Laxus care so much?
Mashima, you've created a piece of fiction that I love oh, so dearly, and Fairy Tail will always mean so much to me, but why the fuck did you leave so many things untouched? Things like Laxus' mother shouldn't have been something to never speak of again, and you give more time to Porlyusica - a (implied?) former lover of Makarov's - before you give even a hint to a possible wife?
I am pulling out my hair at the thought of how good a Raven Tail Arc could've been. I will lament over it as long as I continue to live.

Any RPGs (/settings / supplements) that you know of that have a set of mechanics based on harvesting parts of slain monsters for various effects? I just think that would be a neat system to throw into an OSR type game :)
THEME: Monster Recycling
Hello friend! I had a lot of fun putting together game recommendations for this, I've seen a few games inspired by Monster Hunter and I definitely see the appeal!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monster Guts, by Wheels Within Wheels Publishing.
Welcome to MONSTER GUTS, a tabletop roleplaying game, Illuminated by LUMEN, that draws from your favorite monster-hunting video games.
This book has rules to build your scavenger, pick a starting weapon and friendly companion critter, and then go out hunting giant monsters!
Set in a post-capitalism world where monsters bio-engineered to extract resources have destroyed much of the world, you must hunt these creatures to sustain your village, one of the few settlements in the Pacific Northwest to have survived. You'll also harvest tags that you can slot into your weapons and garb to power up your scavenger.
Monster Guts is LUMEN, so expect cinematic action with effective moves that feel more and more powerful as you level up. It’s made a bit of a splash on Itch.io due to its ability to replicate the feeling of the Monster Hunter video game. Your character classes take the form of weapons, with different stats and special abilities. There are also tags that can be added on to them as you slay monsters for their parts. When it comes to the backstory, the lore focuses on a small village, trying to survive in a world of monsters that they once created. Once again, the enemy is capitalism.
Butchers & Beasties, by Kerobuki.
A Monster Hunter-like TTRPG hacked from a mixture of Emiel Boven's DURF  and the creator’s own projects.
Butchers & Beasties is a bare-bones, rules-only draft of a monster-hunting game. It uses dice pools of d6’s and staggered successes for basic conflict resolution. Inventory is important in this game - you have limited inventory slots and you also have to choose where you’re going to store your equipment - will you keep your lantern in your pack, and have to dig it out every time you use it, or will you store it on your belt for easy access? You also choose a role for your character, which grants you with base items. There’s rules for traps. weapons, ailments and elements, which gives the play group a broad set of possible combinations to factor in when hunting beasts. Overall, if you’re looking for an OSR-friendly game this is probably a great place to start, as everything in here looks like a tool set that you’ll need to pick up with an play around with a bit to see just how much it can do.
After the Great Beast, by Harper Jay.
You are a Hunter, and great beasts are threatening your village. Gather your weapon and your friends, and defend your home. Along the way, you will gather materials, craft traps and potions, and maintain your weapon, all while following the great beast's tracks.
After The Great Beast is a Breathless game inspired by the Monster Hunter franchise.
I am so so excited about this game. After the Great Beast is Breathless, which means that it provides you with a limited number of resources, which deplete as you play. You can stop to refresh your resources, but in the process you let time get away from you - and that means your problems get bigger. I think it has a lot of potential for a satisfying loop of play, and I’m impressed at the size of this game. A lot of the Breathless games I’ve looked at in the past are under 10 pages, but After The Great Beast is over 20! This is because of the extra tools differentiating weapons, special effects, world details and beast rules. There’s even a little bestiary and advice on how to set up an adventure for this kind of game. If you want lots of different pieces to play with and a setting that’s already laid out for you a little bit, then I’d recommend checking out After The Great Beast.
Wilderfeast, by Horrible Guild.
Wilderfeast is an RPG about becoming part of the natural world by making it part of you.
Players assume the role of “wilders”: monster hunters/chefs who wield gargantuan kitchen implements and gain powerful mutations from each monster they eat. Using those powers, they seek harmony between humanity and the wild.
All creatures, be they humans or monsters, obey the One Law of the One Land…
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.
Wilderfeast is a game about hunting and cooking monsters, with tactical game mechanics for the hunting portion of the game, and narrative prompts for the cooking portions. This is a game in which an eldritch virus has made kaiju-like monsters frenzied and dangerous. Your characters have discovered that killing and feeding on these monsters gives them interesting mutations. I think this game has a lot of promise, because it gives you both the chance to puzzle through combat and feel competent when you fight, while also giving you tools that give the in-between scenes narrative weight - you even partake in a ritual before eating that allows you to thank the monster for its gift!
If you want to take a deeper look at Wilderfeast, you can check out their Quickstart for free, and listen to Dave Thaumvore’s review.

ermmie wormiee....can you explain how light dependant reactions work I'm genuinely kinda lost on that part of AP Bio like everything else makes sense but unit 3 (enzymes photosynthesis and cellular resp) is genuinely my OP
Tumblr media
Ok, so I don’t know how much you have to know so let’s just get into it. It’s not that hard once you get it.
Also please keep in mind that I studied all of this in German so I’m sorry if some things are worded weirdly.
So, there are two photosystems (PSII and PSI) in plants. As you can see in this pic, the whole reaction starts with PSII, not PSI — that’s because PSI was discovered first. (But that’s not really important.)
Photosystems are able to absorb photons (that come from the light) and produce a high energy electron! As you can see in this pic, PSII absorbs the photon, creates a high energy electron and sends it through an electron transport chain (Plastoquinone - that’s a molecule btw) to the Cytochrome b6f complex and from there to PSI.
PSII uses water as an electron donor! That is very important because that’s how oxygen gets created as a by-product.
Tumblr media
(sciencefacts.net)
PSI absorbs the photon again and produces another high energy electron which converts NADP+ to NADPH.
The big question is: how does the plant create ATP now?
That happens through non-cyclic photophosphorylation. See all those H+ protons? Whereas there is a bunch inside the thylakoid lumen, there isn’t much in the stroma.
That leads to a concentration compensation. So all those little protons that have been produced during the reaction actually go through the ATP-synthase into the stroma. Thus, the ATP-synthase creates ATP!
I also had to remember this, I don’t know if you do but if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask:
Tumblr media
(istudy.pk)
All you need to know is basically:
Light hits PSII. Light = energy. PSII needs energy to turn electron (water = electron donor) into a high energy electron. High energy electron travels. H+ protons get produced during reactions. PSI needs energy. High energy electron converts NADP+ to NADPH (we need that for our Calvin cycle later). Bunch of protons travel through ATP-synthase —> we have ATP now!!!
I hope this makes somewhat sense. As I’ve mentioned, I had to remember all of this in German so yeah it might be a bit messy. If there’s anything unclear, feel free to send another ask!

XCOM and the perils of adaptations
Many video games have been adapted into board games: Slay the Spire, XCOM, and This War of Mine are three of the most prominent. But there's a challenge to making a good adaptation.
The Faithful
This War of Mine is extremely faithful; it feels exactly like one playthrough of the game. While the video game is single-player, the board game plays up to six, a concession for the medium. Even with six players, the players take turns reading emotional prompts, and act as one. The best way to play the game is with as few people as possible, in an intimate setting.
The Vibes
Compare that to the XCOM board game. This isn't an attempt to port the video game to tabletop space (that's been done with games like Level 7: Omega Protocol, which is an N-Vs-1 combat game in the same vein as the board games DOOM (2016), Imperial Assault, or Descent). Invariably, these games end up with a lot of dice rolling and complex line-of-sight rules, things often labeled as hallmarks of the "Ameritrash" genre of board games.
No, the XCOM board game takes a different approach. Instead of adapting the gameplay, it emulates the FEEL of an XCOM game: not having enough resources, having a time crunch to make difficult decisions, and choosing whether its better to lose one country over another. In some respects, it's not a very faithful adaptation, as it's a completely different experience to the video game. In other respects, it succeeds at its goal, and gives an experience of the stress and genre of the modern XCOM games.
What about RPGs?
Tabletop roleplaying games (a la Dungeons and Dragons) are an a similarly weird bind to XCOM. Some people play them as romance simulators, while others play them as combat simulators. There are those who argue that the 4th edition of D&D is the best version, because it lays bare what the game is "really" about (beating up monsters and taking their stuff) and makes that core loop fun. Others argue that it's the worst edition, because it only has rules for combat and eschews the "roleplaying" part of roleplaying games.
So what would an XCOM adaptation look like? Just like with board games, there are multiple possible approaches you could take. You could flesh out the combat system and have a slow-moving, tense game of tactics, where the chance to roll is determined entirely by swingy dice, or you could let the combat take a back seat and focus on the resource management side of things.
My take, or The part of this post that's closest to being an ad
Two years ago, I released an RPG called Cyberrats. Mechanically, it was inspired most heavily by the modern XCOM games, as well as Shadowrun (an RPG famous for being incredibly "crunchy"). Here's how I chose to handle various aspects of the adaptation. In my mind, the six most important aspects of an XCOM adaptation are:
Combat
Basebuilding
Resource Management
Specializations
Lethality
and a campaign.
I want to be clear: my goal was not to adapt XCOM, but to create a tabletop experience that feels similar to XCOM, while being its own thing. Here's how I tackled these elements.
Combat
I wanted combat to be tactical, but quick and fun. Many RPGs with heavy combat systems end up spending hours in a single encounter. I didn't want that. I used a modified version of the LUMEN system, which means that players get a number (usually 1-3) of six-sided dice (d6), roll them, and keep the highest. A 5-6 is a full success, a 3-4 is a success with consequences, and a 1-2 is a failure with consequences.
Additionally, enemies are simple (having attacks and non-combat 'moves', like inflicting status effects or activating their allies) and drop loot when defeated. Range bands are abstract (close, near, far), and missions have objectives (hack this computer, defuse a bomb, capture the VIP, and so on).
Basebuilding
My favorite part of XCOM is investing in the base to unlock new powers and abilities. In the base game of Cyberrats, there are 17 total rooms that can be built. These rooms improve healing (the clinic), offer new psychic powers or weapons (Auguary, Detonatorium, Engineering Lab), improve player characters ("Operatives") (Gym, Training Grounds), or otherwise affect gameplay. Players can choose which builds are important to them, and build them as a team in whatever order they'd like.
Excavation
The base is a 4x4 grid of rooms. The first two rooms are clear, the next tow cost 1 to clear. The second row costs 2 each to clear, and so on. In addition to clearing a space, rooms cost money to build.
Campaign and Resource Management
As fun as the missions in XCOM are, it's not a game I would play indefinitely. I play to win, with a strong probability of losing. Similarly, I know a lot of RPGs are designed to be played indefinitely, as a forever campaign. With Cyberrats, I wanted a short campaign, one that can be beat in ~10 sessions.
And I did that by tying it into resource management. The premise of Cyberrats is simple: the world is being invaded by aliens. You are interns at a megacorp, and a rival megacorp has the situation under control. Unacceptable!.
You have to sabotage the rival megacorp, fend off the alien invasion, and make sure your boss gets all the credit.
Mechanically, it looks like this: there are two "Victory Meters". One for the Interlopers (the aliens), one for Valdivian, your rival Megacorp. If either of those Victory meters reaches 10, you lose. In the first case, the aliens win. In the second case, someone else fended them off.
Players are presented with 3 missions. They choose one to fail, one to settle with dice rolls, and one to play out. Failing a mission targeting a specific faction increases that faction's victory meter. Succeeding against a faction lowers it.
There's also a third faction, the military. They don't have a victory meter, but do have some of the best loot in the game, making them a lucrative target.
In order to win the campaign, players must win a mission against each faction 3 times, and then go on a special story mission to fight the big boss form each faction. The final story mission is blowing up the mothership and saving the day.
Specializations
In XCOM, you start as raw recruits. After your first mission, you are assigned a specialization based on actions you took. After that, as you gain experience, you choose between two powerful abilities corresponding to your specialization.
In Cyberrats, you start as interns. You have very little health, and only one power. After your first mission, if you live, you choose a Career. As you gain experience, you choose between 3 abilities for specializations of that career. The careers are Vector (hacker), Trenchy (weapons specialist), Mindjob (psychic), and Ratter (mutated freak).
Lethality
In Cyberrats, you create two Operatives to send on missions. Partially, this is so you can send one on the backup mission (resolved with dice rolls based on the prowess of the assigned Operatives), and partially this is because there's a good chance your Operatives will get Injured.
Hit points are small (even the brawniest Career only starts with 9), and nothing is guaranteed. But, it's very hard to die in Cyberrats: it just becomes increasingly expensive to recover.
Conclusion
There's no wrong way to adapt a game to a new medium. I once read an article about 6 different ways to adapt a book into a movie, and these thoughts have been stewing in my mind ever since. I made some choices in bringing an XCOM-like experience to table, but I can easily imagine several other, equally valid approaches. It's all about what you want to emulate, baby.

you sound like you want to talk about Luka. Wanna talk about Luka?
BOY DO I
For people who haven't played bayonetta, Luka is a reocurring character in all 3 games. He's an investigative journalist, following his father's footsteps in investigating myths. In bayonetta 1, he's trying to learn about the Clans of the Umbra Witches and The Lumen Sages, and events 500 years prior, which is what Bayonetta is trying to remember.
Tumblr media
At the same time, He's looking to expose bayonetta to the world, because he blames her for the death of his father. His father found bayonetta's sealed coffin and opened it, releasing bayonetta.
Tumblr media
He's wrong, obviously. Bayonetta didn't kill Luka's father, Angels looking for Bayonetta did. Humans like Luka can't see the angels, (think the mist from percy jackson) so to luka it looked like bayonetta tore his father apart with magic.
So Luka spends his whole life looking for a chance at revenge, and to avenge his father.
Tumblr media
Throughout the game, the pair keep meeting up, as they're looking for the same thing (Even if they don't realize it yet) and bayonetta keeps saving Luka (But again, he can't see what from, so from his perspective she's shoving him around for no reason.)
Eventually, Bayonetta finds a child (it's actually bayonetta as a kid but thats not important rn) and hands her off to Luka, whos first reaction is to get super protective of the child
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, Luka is wrong, but its a reasonable conclusion to make. Luka, after taking care of the child for a while, eventually tries to get information out of the kid, and gets his chance to see the angels for the first time.
Tumblr media
And now that he's starting to get a real perception on reality, he's actively trying to help out Bayonetta
Tumblr media
Going as far as to get jeanne's detonator from her (before getting blown up, but hes ok)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then after Bayonetta remebers who jeanne is before jeanne dies* and gets shot into a building, luka's checks up on bayonetta. Claiming its for his own ego, but hes obviously lying
Tumblr media
So then the main villain has him killed in the same way his father was, but bayonetta saves him, making him finally realize what actually happened
Tumblr media
So bayonetta saves the world and dies* in the process, so luka shows up to her funeral with a whole ass thing of rosemary (there was a line abt it being a demon repellent)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because he's guilty. He hated her his entire life for no reason and he knows that now, and she was selfless enough to sacrifice herself* for the entire world. He's not there because hes in love with her, hes there because he feels guilty for how he treated her, and just when they started to become friends she died*
Luka isn't in love with bayonetta here, and she's certainly not in love with him. Luka has grown, but not grown in the romantic sense. And as for bayonetta, she moved in with jeanne... and oh my god they were roommates
*shes not dead, this is like the 5th fakeout death of the game and like 3 of them were Luka LMAO

Sleepover time part two, tell me your headcanons about Gehrman and Maria
Alright so like we talk about, I will mostly concentrate on a list of headcanons about their relationships. Because if I try to talk about the entirety of *check notes* the 15y? they know each other in my main headcanon/interpretation it’s never going to be over. (ok this is really long help)
So that we're clear their relationship is kinda mostly platonic especially when Maria is a student at Byrgenwerth. Gehrman’s view & feelings on her as well as maybe her view on him, began to change some times after she graduate and become a hunter so they already knew each other for a few years already. After well they were kinda too oblivious to figure things out 😅 (their poor friends were becoming crazy). But they did talk and well if the huge problems around hamlet & afterwards didn't happen… they could have built and planned seriously something together eventually…
So basically, he saw Maria at first and was like omg she’s just like me fr. She really reminded him of himself a few years back when he was kinda lost in his life and mostly alone so yeah must protect.
Maria didn’t get many friends at Byrgenwerth at first. She couldn’t stand most of the rich/noble kids and the ones who were not were not very kind to her + she didn’t really know the others. Laurence noticed it and asked Gehrman to check on his students sometimes (on Caryll & Rom too). SO yeah, they ended up talking. A LOT
They can talk about so many subjects for hours! History, culture, art, weapons, fighting technique, literature, freaking flowers, sewing etc and they both like to be able to talk with someone who will listen and engage in those convos as well. But sometimes just being in other other silence & presence is really great as well.
During springtime and planting plants season he asked her opinion on which flowers to plant where. And by knowing when each variety bloom & their colors it really helped him to organize beautiful flower beds.
Speaking of flowers & plants: Gehrman helped her cultivated the first lumen flowers in Yharnam, (that I headcanon they bring back from Loran). + they planted together most of the flowers and trees at the workshop. The trees seem to have a few decades, I guess? Well they planted little / young trees that grow up ;-; (sorry that wasn't supposed to be sad).
Gehrman teach her how to cook several basic meals and make tea. She did teach him how to make Asian noodles too. But yeah, trust only Gehrman to cook in the old Byrgenwerth squad. Also, he taught her a few homemade remedies! (you except him to go to the pharmacy and bring you back medicine? No, he just takes a few dry plants (like raspberry branches or smt!) from a drawer and make the most useful infusion against chronic/stomach or period pain boom! What a gentleman!)
They like to go on walk in the forest together. Either just walk or for training or to found cool rocks I mean iron ore & meteorite
They love stargazing and looking at the moon ^^
He made her an old hunter badge out of siderite of course! (haven't figure out exactly when but hm not too important)
While at Byrgenwerth he made her a lil white wolf figure out of wood for one of her birthdays 🥺 (yeah he made those types of figures for all his friends XD)
He taught her many hunting techniques then fighting/ fencing techniques etc it did really help her and she made him learn a few things as well! (Like proper fencing and Cainhurst semi fencing/dance choreography they have). They trained together a lot.
One of the reasons, he made the mercy blade (beside to have a smaller secondary weapon) was to be able to train properly with her when she got the Rakuyo, so they could both dual wield.
He made her learned how to sew basic things and in exchange she taught him how to do refined embroidery.
I'm still unsure but either she made his red scarf alone or with the help of others, but anyway they gave it to him as a present. He might have done her red neckerchief and a few of her clothes as well (basically a beta of the doll clothes).
He also sews back her clothes when she damaged them (he did that for many people too XD). They also sew back each other skins when needed…
Gehrman realized he was in love with her at quite a weird timing. You see he was kinda in denied since a few months of his feelings already (poor guy is not sure he had that intense crush before in his life so he was quite confused) and then they went on a dangerous mission. They're both covered in blood at the end, she just overcome a big trauma and "oh ok I think I love her for real actually 😳. Ok I accepted and acknowledge to myself the fact! I'm going to try to be sure she's happy and safe! But I'm not gonna do anything else about it because I value our friendship first!" jkdjùldjnjknnndq bro! JUST TALK TOGETHER!!! I swear it would have go well you guys are dumbasses!
Also poor Laurence who had to support Gehrman ranting to him about how his dreams are sinful because "oh no I I held her hand 😭" yeah that was just that, at first. And Laurence was already tired of it: « bro that's just a dream🙄calm down it's 8am what are you talking about?! »
Ok so maria maybe was a bit too oblivious to his feelings like "nah that can't be that I'm dumb" but it wasn't oblivious for lots of other people 😅 their friends tried to do smt about it but oh boy…
I mean they did dance with each other a few times! :3 but everyone danced with each other too so.. ok maybe they did once or twice while completely alone..
Ah yeah Gehrman got vibe check by a part of Maria's family too XD at the Queen's wedding 🤣 poor guy. But well he did pass the vibe check!!! (Maria didn't knew. Laurence, Caryll & maybe Ludwig knew "omg he's getting vibe check?" " he's getting vibe check…"
Actually, they did talk a bit about their relationship (finally it just took what 5-10 years!) just before the fishing hamlet 💀 But it was mostly like "hey after our next big mission could we perhaps hm talk about or future life projects? Maybe we could hm… perhaps think of smt to envision together? If that's alright of course…👉👈" "Oh ok sure 😳 yeah we'll talk about it later!" WELL i let guess how that ended up! ( ;-; the mood was kinda ruined yeah).
Anyway, Maria only trusts Ludwig and Gehrman with her horses + Maria's crows like him enough.
Ok there's maybe ONCE when they passed time together that could be consider as a "date". They were supposed to go to the theater. Just the two of them. Day ruined when some old hunters show up by pure coincidence and didn't leave them alone XD
They practice violin & cello together a bit! They learned a few lullabies from each others as well.
They are both quite good with kids normally (more Maria too) but one day they both had to babysit 1 kid and they panicked because they lost the toddler for like 2 mins💀worst babysitter together pffff (that was baby crow lmao)
They are either the biggest idiots together, balance each other perfectly or are super serious (in mission/fight). Yeah i know x)
Also, if they could, this 2 would be the kind of idiots to go visits far cities, museum, famous places, and all sorts of locations. Like the top 10 of the most haunted castles, frightening forests & weird creepy places! oh you can be sure they would go XD (old hunters vlog when?? Yes of course they would take a daguerreotype with them to take pictures!)
If the 2 are send on mission together at the exterior of Yharnam (for exemple). You know it's really serious a really big deal. Usually, they go alone or with a few hunters but separated. In Yharnam+ labyrinth they either hunt together/ alone or with others. But this two are super powerful and really complementary together.
They fight well alone and they can very well fenced against each other, even better fighting side by side but against a common foe? They are at their best!
They already save each other's life a few times.
The day they did arm wrestling together in front of the old hunters was quite the event! Match of the decade ladies and gentlemen! Sadly, someone interrupt because "euh guys beasts are attacking people…😓" "O_O" so they stop and got ready. So, no one won 😅 they were like 5mins in…
You know tv don’t exist so sometimes they read books together at the workshop. Like the how to pick up fair maiden book (still not sure what type of book it's… could be just a series of super action oriented & dramatic novels who knows lol)
Those two are also the champions to have nap at the workshop. On mission they either don’t sleep a lot or have light sleep and always have a 6th sense (they often sleep next to each other too in those case) but at the workshop on day off? Oh dear good luck if you need smt and the 2 are asleep at the SAME TIME! (you can have Maria having a lil nap at the exterior and Gehrman in the interior)
One of them either found/buy or repaired the chairs they have. You know Maria's chair and before it turned into a wheelchair, I imagined it was really Gehrman's chair too. (So yeah, they have both their own fancy chair XD)
He completely trusts Maria to take back the workshop & trained hunters if smt was to happen to him.
She helped him with his chronic/phantom pains in his right leg/foot 😢 (yes besides giving him a few meds holding his hand kinda help a bit)
Even if they tried to be strong and without weakness to show each other and to others, they did share their insecurities and cheer the other up at times. Just a couple of months/years into their friendship they were comfortable enough to share their story, past, fears, "trauma" and insecurities with each other. Especially recent ones… so yeah that was really emotional…. But it's what create such a strong and powerful bound between them for the years to come. And explain how they become so close too.
Ok many books at the workshop belongs to Gehrman but the majority are from Laurence & Maria.
I imagined the picture Maria have (found in the astral clocktower) is well this one I drew. They took It after coming back to the church expedition at Loran. (Alternatively it had Laurence too). For the pics at the workshop Maria is still in a couple of them.
Years after the fishing hamlet, Gehrman gifted her the small hair ornament to cheer her when she wasn't feeling well. (Even if originally, it was supposed to be a proposal gift but hm… things got complicate… he also was looking at designs to do it just before going to the hamlet). She did gift him a pocket watch in return who look like the astral clocktower.
During those hm complicated and gray times (when they were both a mess and didn't tell each other everything!) they were still a source of comfort to each other. Just seeing, talking, and passed time together when they could did help a bit… before well…you know…
He made a mini doll before well... the Doll.
Few years after Maria passed away, he adopted one of the first irish/wolfhound of Yharnam. (Yeah he helped a young Paarl trained them and he got the opportunity to adopted a young pup.) He took the lighter fur one of the litter. Maria would have love her ;-;
(in one of my AU they got a little dog with their cottage house before the wolf hound hehe)
In the end they just both wanted a companion to stick out with and live their life and go on adventures! Similar to some couple of birds like well crows or other animals like wolves… etc
Tumblr media
Ok I think that's a good list I will stop here 😅 I probably forgot a few things and there's a few things I didn't talk about but I tried to stay focus on just the most positive part. Thanks for the asks I hope you like it! (I really like it! Even if iit was longer than expected).
