My interpretation of 'Caedmon's Hymn' which was written around 670AD in my home town of Whitby, was carefully posted yesterday. It'll be flying over 5,000 miles to its new home in California. Despite the distance, during the process I've enjoyed a lovely correspondence with the buyer, a lady who loves Tolkien, CS Lewis, Anglo-Saxon history and...cats! 'The Pool of Rebirth - Entrance to Everland'. Nice to be back to Celtic knotwork. Creating an illustrated page for an upcoming book project. When we were kids in Whitby, they used to have a Saturday matinee at the Odeon that our Dad'd take us to. Once, we saw a film, 'The Land that Time Forgot'. It was Jurassic Park before Jurassic Park except the way in was through a whirlpool I think. I saw this the other day and though I'm not a big fan of either of these men, the words really struck me. Still on our Isle of Skye theme, I took this photo a few years back. Eilean Donan Castle is probably, after Edinburgh, the most famous castle north of the border. Built in 1220, and home to the clans MacKenzie and MacRae, it sits at the meeting of three lochs, Loch Alsh which you cross to get to Skye, Loch Duich which runs south and Loch Long. I met this 'wee beastie' few years back when I was visiting my parents on the Isle of Skye (they ran the Cuillins Campsite). The Highland Cattle, or 'heilan coo' are the oldest registered breed in the world and though smaller than other cows, will eat almost anything! I saw some recently on Dartmoor in Devon. I said I'd let you all know how it went with the mysterious funghi I found on a woodland walk. Thanks to advice from @dendryad (check out her recently published beautiful Celtic colouring book) I enjoyed a week of delicious lunches. Firstly I followed an online recipe (just type the common name into the search engine): I sliced it, rolled it egg and breadcrumbs, fried it in butter and squeezed a bit of lemon over it. Delicious! Then I made various omelettes (see photo).
