theres something about casual dominance thats just so!!

the way when toji laughs, sitting with his friends, he tips his head just right to catch your eyes to beckon you closer, looping his arms around your waist when you’re hovering in front of him to pull you to his lap. he doesn’t stop talking to his friends and they don’t acknowledge you so you sit there, caged by toji’s arms and warm in his embrace, his front a solid wall for you to rest your back on. he hums at whatever his friend says, pitching forward to press a kiss on your shoulders and you play with his rolled up sleeves, not wanting to tune it to whatever they’re talking about.

(they know you, you know? his friends. “toji’s pretty girl,” they’d tell each other when they mention you in passing, conversations stilted. there was an unspoken rule, after all — the one that makes them tight-lipped whenever someone new comes asking around who was the girl sticking close to toji. then, they correct the assumptions. “it’s fushiguro who’s sticking close,” they say, words short and curt. and only a select few would understand the difference.)

the way when toji and you are cuddling on the couch, you feel him playing with your hair during the quiet moments of the movie, making you putty and boneless in his touch, before pulling it. he remains wordless when you gasp, your head tipped to expose your throat. when you whine, feeling the strain get to you, that is when he releases his hold. his chest rumbles as he hums reassurances, quiet shushing directed to you as he pulls you closer to him. he does it a few more times, leaving you breathless in anticipation.

the way when you’re on toji’s lap, pressing soft and gentle kisses across his face, making him laugh and his eyes crinkling in endearment, he responds by just reaching forward to hold your neck. he doesn’t tighten it enough to choke you but it is a heavy weight. you swallow and toji’s eyes glaze over when he feels your throat bobbing directly on his palm. he tugs at you gently, not enough to manhandle you or budge you with just his strength, but you follow his direction until his lips are ghosting over yours. it’s you who swallows the remaining distance to kiss him again.

im not a very eloquent person, so bear with me here.

but there is something so raw about being forced to loop with siffrin. a video game is the perfect media for a timeloop story because people who play video games are already used to having to repeat scenes and levels—but now the character you're playing as is ALSO repeating it. i mean like obviously, but like.

theres something about the video game format that really pushes home the absolute loneliness of repeating the same days over and over again. the game forces you to feel the growing insanity along side siffrin, instead of just watching him go through it.

the sound effects during the dialogue really REALLY help push this. you're zoning out through dialogue, because youve heard it so many times before—and then theres a sound effect you dont remember being there before—! but its too late for you to stop and see what it was. you've already missed it, and so has siffrin.

you really get to feel his sanity slipping away because you get it. you might not be spending roughly 24 to 48 hours per loop like he is, but youre still spending at least ten minutes per. and its going to wear on you in the best possible way. so youre just as frazzled as siffrin. so youre right in his shoes and you really feel for him.

you UNDERSTAND why hes losing it because youre hand in hand with him the entire time. in stars and time is so well written im chewing on drywall rn
