my main grief with LGTS 👠👠 (huge spoilers ahead)

i finally finished the game yesterday and although i all in all liked it a lot i really don’t get why it is so punitive. till. the. very. end(s).

after restarting it TWO times (one time because i couldn’t possibly know beforehand how niggardly they would be with money/food/resources, and the other time because i couldn’t get the windmill key from Eugen😒💢🗝️) and going through all those witch hour trials i am left with the feeling that you never really get to win.

YES you do get the sweet lesbian good ending with your sweetheart of choice, but that basically nullifies — in terms of reward for the player — all your hard effort during those sleepless nights going around getting pecked by birds, chased by phantoms and carriage-goat demons. with the lesbian endings, you never get to the bottom of any of the mysteries and you mostly live in an ignorant lovey-dovey bliss 🕊️💕

the apostasy ending — where you get to the bottom of the cave notes mystery and all the priest attempts at summoning Walpurga — still doesn’t feel rewarding, as the witch kills you just when you were almost about to bring Father Hans’ misdeeds to light — so despite getting SUPER CLOSE to uncovering the truth behind Kiefeberg’s mysteries, you still lose.

both the kiss ending and the motherly cocoon ending are yet another win for Walpurga — in the kiss you become one with her (accompanied by crazy-unmei-talk Rozenmarine) in the woods, while in the other she essentially takes your place, embodying an Elise that’s no longer the player. so again. you lose.

the auto da fe ending doesn’t need more explaining than “you just get burned at the stake” like the witch you are. and again it makes sense as a bad ending (also because you get that if you didn’t succeed in getting and placing the token of love from your sweetheart, thus punishing your inability to create at least one true strong bond 💖)

what im trying to say is that — although all these endings make sense and are totally fine endings by themselves — you finish the game multiple times and you never get to defeat Walpurga, nor Him. and honestly i wouldn’t have minded so much not getting to defeat the witch. but what i would’ve loved to see — something that would really reward the player for all the (sometimes very annoying and frustrating) trials you go through — is an ending where you defeat Ozzy, where you get to somehow outwit the devil himself. because — as Elise — you are different from the golden girls who have gone through this path in the past. as Elise, you are a not-entirely-human girl generated through Holle’s wish with the help of the devil himself on the soil and with a doe of Walpurga’s land (and in this instance, Walpurga could have even chosen to become an ally of yours, forming some sort of contract with Elise so as to get closer to her again and also banish Him out of the woodlands with Elise’s help! — all things she said she wanted for so long). so you’re really not just another human girl making a deal with the devil. and even if you don’t get to win because “you’re born special”, you still should get to have at least one (1) ending where (as the player) you can triumph after all the hard work you put in to see this through the very very end. it could’ve been the hardest ending to get. but it would have been an absolute triumph of the MC. 🏆 a triumph i still think she deserved. (yes, Elise can be very selfish and self-entitled, but she has shown multiple times that she also has a big heart 🫀)

don’t get me wrong, i still love this game ❤️ (despite the very MANY frustrating bits and the unskippable cutscenes & dialogues right before the annoying part you just tried 7 times to get right 💢💢💢) — i just feel like Elise really deserved an ending where she gets to the bottom of the Walpurga mystery (à la Pentiment, where yet again it’s a priest who’s found out to be the one behind it all lmao) AND gets to defeat Strange Boy thanks to the strength of her character (and maybe the peculiarity of her birth circumstances too) — a quality that the game itself so often kept reminding the player of.

"You look sexy today m'lady" the bartender told ada. Ada just glared at him with a dead expression. She doesn't care. As she tries finishing off her vodka and ciggerate, the bar tender wouldn't leave her alone.

He said stuff like "wanna come over sometimes?" "Can i have your number?". While he asks ada about probablly her whole life, she got anoyyed and stood up then walked away.

"Guess she didn't like me" the bar tender mumbled to himself. Ada then walked towards the ladies bathroom trying not to talk to anyone and keeping a low profile.

Your a pretty good college student. You work day and night for your assigments. You were serious about getting a good degree. You wanted to make your parents proud and live a succesful and good life.

It's not like you hated the idea of partying and going out, you just prefer staying inside and study. Claire, your bestfriend would make fun of you playfully for being a 'nerd'.

You never went to a night club before, considering your 23 and Claire being around the same age as you is pretty much a party animal since she turned 18. And here you are, in a night club, with claire and few more friends celebrating claire's 24th birthday.

You went here just because its claire. If it wasn't for claire, you would rather not. You can't say no to her! Especially when its her special day. She would go "My birthday, my rules!". You don't find her anoyying cause you always accepted her the way she is.

"Want some wine y/n?" Claire asked you while nudging you arm. "Nah, im good" you replied. "Are you kidding me? Going to a night club with your friends but you don't get drunk together? Come on! Don't be a coward!" Claire teased you.

"Fine. Just one shot. That's it. Kay?" You rolled your eyes. Claire goes to the bar and gets 2 glass of wine.

She went back and gave you one of the glasses. You drank it like a champ. You didn't really like alchohol unlike claire. "Your lipstick's smudged by the way" Jill pointed out. "Ugh, really? I'll be back, gonna go to the bathroom" then you walked away

As you entered the bathroom, you saw a women with short black hair touching up hee make up too. You stood next to her and turned on the fauset so you could clean up the smudge on your face.

"Hey" the women greeted you. You turned off the fauset so you could hear her clearly. "Hey?" You responded. "What's your name?" She asked. You find it funny that you meet a random person in the bathroom and they started asking your name. Shes probablly drunk.

"Y/n" you answered. "Nice too meet you Y/n, the name's ada" she got closer to you. You didn't know how to react. You didn't really get the chance to fix your smudged lipstick too.

You got a closer look at her. She's pretty, you thought to yourself. "You look pretty" she whispered to your ear making you shiver. "Yeah- thanks, you too... ada"

She suddenly puts her hand under your chin making you face her. You startes blushing. You felt really drunk too.

Ada got closer, and closer to your face and started kissing you, making out with you, slipped her tounge in. You couldn't resist.

You let go off the kiss. "Can we go in tbe bathroom stall?" You said while being out of breath. Ada then grabs your hand and you two went inside one of the stalls.

"Keep your mouth shut" she instructed you clearly. You nod aggresively while squinting. Ada then pins you to the door, kissing your neck and biting. You try to keep youd voice in. Shes probably leaving hickeys all over you.

She then lifts up your dress revealing you lacy black panties. "We won't be needing those on" she smirks. Ada pulls down your panties, not off, but to your knees.

I FINALLY FINISHED THESE

i really wanted to mix revival and older replica for this one. the thigh-high boots, sparkly, tasseled dress, and generally the wig are all revival inspired, but the curly fur stays and the makeup is old because i really do like the very dramatic, gothic grizabella looks. her coat is also heavily 2019 inspired with the length and stripey purple fabric

i also was not sure how i wanted to do her hair other than it covering one eye (SHOUTOUT TO THE FANART I SAW WHICH HAD THAT. I CANNOT REMEMBER THE URL) esp the color so i did a gradient of light grey to dark brown, which i REALLY liked ! it also helped me decide that shed be chocolate smoke instead of a tabby

i very much want to emphasize the "proud" and "indomitable" of her character in my portrayal of her; think betty buckley. i think shed be 61 in human years.

idk why but i decided to go with a 1940s inspired formal look for her.... i quite like the hat and think it helps her to stand out, so i'm comfortable in that decision. her fur design is also mostly replica inspired. enjoy her neapolitan ice cream makeup too

she also gets a pink nose and her collar from the 2019 version. idk why the collars went so hard in that movie

i LOVE one of her 3 words being practical... yes, she is THE practical cat. i think shed be 59 in human years

VERY replica inspired.... with notes of other productions. opera populaire had full glasses bustopher which i liked. an older makeup look also had stripes which i also thought looked nice (and makes him look more related to mistoffelees) ! there are also multiple bustopher designs that have the moustache and beard 2 for 1 dealio..... and decided to incorporate that as well

he also gets the fishbone hanky crevat thing and a fishbone brooch. i almost made his rose white but i liked the contrast of the red. enough that i decided to give him lipstick too . and youd best believe that he has a giant fucking pipe that he smokes out of

i love the idea of him being the older generations' tugger in his time. i believe it. i think hed be like 55 in human years

I COULDNT RESIST BASING HIM OF THE MOVVIEEEEEE im not sorry that was peak skimble. the whistle and chains, the MATCHING conductor hat and pants, the moustache, the tap shoes..... truly, it was too good. my only regret was that i couldnt show the suspenders in this design because i wanted to keep the vest

i did keep the makeup/fur pattern very similar to his replica design though. idk. its just good. emphasis on the brown in his tail, the brown of his clothes, and the bell

MUH OLD MAN... i love him. very much based on a bunch of different replica designs for him. he gets a beard and sideburns because i think i really do love the costumes w facial hair, and i think it just fits. he also gets glasses

he gets the coat and handkerchief (now a scarf) that typically hides the growltiger costume... which has a crisp formal outfit underneath. maybe he takes the coat off during his number to signify having moments of clarity and humor during his song

i do think in my interpretation hes well enough to joke around during his number and play the rumpus cat but like. damn you can tell this cat is old. hed be like 93 in human years

A fic I didnt expect to like so much was codependent bf azul!! Im not an azul fan (i know i KNOW) but he was so yummy in that! I love his desperation and how reader slowly became aware of how batshit crazy he was. I think thats also the most vivid fic i remember too! I remember the repetition and azul spiraling and how he'd repeat to himself affirmations (both positive and negative) and the scene with his parents where he was just downright INSANE

A fic i havent read but want to is 'Mother' i think its called? but the scara fic! (And to be cheeky i want to read this but havent, only bc it hasnt come out yet but that alpha vil wip! Ok sorry im back already but I watched your video about empathy and that's genuinely the first time I've seen anyone talk about empathy in the same way I see it

I've tried to explain this countless times to countless different people and every time the response is either simply confusion or "you're reading into it too much, if you're compassionate then you must feel empathy" or just straight up "wow ok edgelord"

It seems people who do experience empathy in the socially acceptable way either cant or don't want to understand how someone with a different experience could ever be kind or a good person and it's... annoying to say the least

Thank you for the update lol. It makes me really happy when people watch my less viewed videos because I put a LOT more work into them than I did my 12th doctor video and it’s especially nice to know that people enjoy the videos that aren’t about pop culture! I’ve been trying to talk about myself less in videos not for any deep reason really just to avoid being repetitive, but I still love to know that there are a few people enjoying my personal perspectives on life!

I think I talk a little about my religion in that video which is definitely something I’d like to discuss more long form at some point, and this is very encouraging!
