The reason Jodie/Scam works is because it's so absurd that it manages to leap past the unfair plot twist category. It is so out there that I heard it and was you know what even if I tried to think up a wild, evidence-less plot twist I couldn't get to that so good for Anthony. Also it's a very very good twist. as someone who always feels so isolated and like no one can ever truly understand this brain of mine, i think the reason why fyozai is so appealing to me has something to do with the fact that they have this mutual understanding of each other. chuuya understands dazai to a certain degree, but can you really, truly, get it if you don't also experience it? fyodor gets him, and sure, they might be lifelong enemies but there has to be some sense of companionship somewhere in there.
