Together, we will save the world

Five Hargreeves had a mission. Save the world (or at least his siblings) and kill everyone who wants to stop him from doing so.

Well, life had slightly different plans for him first.

He was, yet again, running around the city, trying to get away from the so very charming people the Handler had sent after him. And then he crushed into you.

Like, literally. You were standing in a side alley next to the shop you worked in and had just gotten ready to leave, when a boy your age stumbled around the corner. His glance was directed at something behind him and so he just didn't notice you at all.

Five was exhausted from his jumps and his very hard tries of saving this world somehow while his siblings acted like literal children. He was actually the one being a teenager again, but he didn't throw tantrums - ok, maybe a bit but only to finally get some sense into them so he didn't have to do it all alone.

So it was only logical that at some point he wouldn't be as aware as usuall. He crashed into you and almost fell down but you catched him in time thanks to your reflexes.

When you looked down you could only admire the boy you had just catched. Dark brown hair in a cute "polite good boy"-hair cut, sharp features and beautiful hazel eyes. However there were dark circles under those and he seemed pretty tired as he laid almost limpless in your arms.

Five looked up at you and - even though he didn't like to admit it - felt thankful that you catched him. You were good looking and seemed to have no problem with almost carrying him.

"Watch out where you're going, pretty boy." You smirked and Five couldn't believe it but he almost blushed as his eyes widened.

You slowly got him back on his feet steadily but your arms hadn't left his waist yet. Your picture of him became even cuter when you noticed the silly school uniform with those adorable shorts he was wearing.

After what felt way too long Five finally regained some brain cells and was able to hastily move out of your grip. He would've gotten away by now usually but something that he couldn't make out held him in place as he kept staring at you.

He was about to say something when his eyes went wide again as he made out the fast steps of his past-colllegues. His gaze hushed around and then he pushed you into a small niche of the building you were standing next to.

It was narrow and had hardly space for two teenage boys. That's why you stood impossibly close to each other but you couldn't complain. If the universe decided to shove you into a compromised space together with a cute boy then it'd be like that. You smirked again.

"Shouldn't you invi-", you couldn't continue your sentence because of the boy’s hand covering your mouth. You weren't completely dense so you understood the message to shut up.

It seemed like this boy in front of you really was in severe stress. He was acting like he was on the run from something - or someone - and when you heard the voices of two people complaining that they lost "him" again you made the conclusion they must mean the boy whose hand was still drapped above your mouth.

Luckily the people left quickly and the boy visibly relaxed. His hand left your mouth - leaving behind a tingle on your skin - and his shoulders slumped as his body leaned against the brickwall.

"You seem tired and like you really need a break, you know?"

A sharp glance was the only response. And then the boy moved getting out the niche. He was about to walk away but you couldn't have this meeting end so soon. You grabbed his arm and he swiveled around to look at you again.

"I think you need some coffee", you said, "And maybe sugar will be good too. Why don't we go get donuts?"

Five really didn't know how it happened - he had a mission to complete or else everyone would die - but he was so tired of everything and everyone. So he agreed and soon you were sitting in front of each other at a table at Griddy's.

You ordered and while you waited you had a hard time getting a conversation started. You didn't fail to notice how his eyes looked around all the time just waiting for something to happen.

"So.. who were those guys earlier?", you asked. You had quickly come to the conclusion that this guy wouldn't be catched with small talk. And you wanted to help. Everybody just paying close attention to him for more than a minute could see the stress.

The boy looked at you for a seemingly long time. You almost saw him doing a pro-con-list in his head. "Let's just say, I want to do something that they don't appreciate."

"I guess you're not planning on telling me what that is."

"I guess you wouldn't believe me", he remarked and took a sip from his black coffee.

You raised your eyebrows. "Try me."

His eyes looked at you over the edge of his mug before he put it down. His staring proceeded for another minute till he leaned back.

"Alright", another pause, "I'm trying to save the world from the apocalypse."

You were glad that you hadn't drank something that moment because you were sure you would've choked on your drink. Instead your eyebrows raised again and you huffed out a small laugh.

And just as you were about to make a funny comment you looked into his eyes. The words died when you saw the seriousness. He actually believed that. But was it real?

"Okayyy..", while you tried to figure out what to say two people came in. First you didn't really aknowledge it but then you noticed the boy in front of you tensing up.

And before you could say something else the two people suddenly turned in your direction. The man grapped the brunette's arm and the next moment your date (could you call it that? was it a date? you certainly had an interest in this boy. B-but that's not to discuss right now!) was on the other side of the room.

You couldn't believe your eyes at first and just stared. That changed pretty quickly when you saw one of them pointing a gun at your date (still in question) and the other approaching him again. You stood up while trying to stay silent and grabbed the knife next to your plate.

The boy saw you but gladly the other two didn't. It was clear that he didn't want you to get into this too but even you could see that he didn't have any more strength to defend himself. Just as the man went to grab the brunette again you stabbed the knife into the women's shoulder who held the gun.

She let it fall and a string of curse words came out of her mouth as she stummbled to the side. You quickly picked up the gun and pointed it at the man. "Let him go", you threatened while still having an eye on the woman who had fallen into the window next to the door.

"Let him go and go away", you repeated. You were glad that you could handle guns quite efficiently. The man slowly let go and stepped back with raised hands. Unfortunately you didn't pay attention the woman anymore for a split second who sprinted towards you and took the gun out of your hand.

That same moment your date (or whatever he was now) came running towards you too and shortly before the woman pulled the trigger he reached you. A weird feeling overcame you and the next thing you saw was the exterior wall of a building.

For several seconds you stood still starring in the air before you lost balance and stumbled backwards.

“What. The. Fuck.“

The boy sighed.

“Alright. Come on. You saw too much.“

He grabbed your hand to drag you behind him.

“Wait. Don‘t I get an explanation? What did just happen?!“ You‘d be lying if you said that you weren‘t panicking.

He turned to you with a frown.

Five was confused. First he had crushed into you, then you basically asked him out on a date and asked him what he had run from. Something about you made him answer and then the incident with Hazel and Cha-Cha happened.

He decided that he had to take you with him. You had whitnessed enough. And maybe, just maybe, he felt some kind of sympathy for you. He had to admit, you were fairly handsome.

“I‘ll- I‘ll explain on the way.“ He grabbed your hand again to pull you with him. “But we‘ll have to keep moving for now.“ You basically stumbled behind him but you couldn‘t surpress the sheepish grin growing on your face.

Damn, that boy was something different. But you were definitely here for it.

(And if you looked close enough you could see the tiniest smile and blush on his cute face too. After all, he didn‘t let go of your hand for the rest of the walk.

Later that day he became sure about it: Together, you would save the world.)

Hey I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to post art online? I really wanna show off my art online but idk how tumblr works, I don't even know the basics of how to tag things. I'm asking you cause you're the only one's I know that would even help with something like this without judgement. ;-;

If it's fanart, you generally tag the source (FX. Danganronpa), character (FX hajime Hinata) and ship if that's applicable. You can see the way I tag things, that's pretty much how most people I know do it. You can also use tags like digital art, artists on Tumblr, etc.

Most people have sa tag for just their art, for people who visit the blog. Mine is 'an art', very popular is 'my art' or '(name) art'. The more tags you use, the more organized the blog is, basically.

You should also tag any upsetting content with tags such as "CW blood" or "nudity". ! important! Don't censor any tags, they need to be properly written so people can avoid them

It's also common to talk in the tags, I do it all the time. It's like using your inside voice. When you reblog (share something onto your blog, encouraged) you can either comment on it directly or in the tags. But watch out, everyone can see tags, so be nice!

Pro tip, if you reblog something and compliment it in the tags or share thoughts on it, odds are the original poster will see them and you might eventually bond with them (more likely if it's a somewhat niche thing, or a smaller artist).

This may have been a small update but More Things happened and we gotta talk about it. (Or, I'm gonna talk about it.) More like a ramble, really.

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Speculation? Let's talk about it. 🤔

Behind the Scenes stuff:

first off, I wouldn't have the ability to even remotely do ANY of this part without @anothersimsstory's CC conversions and I'm glad I had the foresight of downloading it when I did. (they didn't delete their shit or anything but you know how it is sometimes) and the monitor by Theraven (I don't think they have a tumblr? they have a forum tho), and the EKG leads by @jellypawss. It really pays to make niche CC!!

I had to make swatches for the monitor since it is an important visual thing... but it was wholly contingent on me finding something that's close to actual vital signs and I looked everywhere but they were all stock images and obviously didn't work for what I needed. I then had to search high and low for for it, but I found it. For real!! I had to use TWO laptops (one for settings and the other for the actual monitor) and I screenshotted it, slapped it into paint to save it, make it a swatch, rinse/repeat for I think 15? idk how many

you may think, Ennie, that's a bit much, and I say, my attention to detail game is insane when it doesn't need to be but dammit, the visuals have to make sense from a glance. That and the offchance of someone who knows read the monitor would point something out about it. That said! I tried parcing out what EtCo2 is but all I got from it is was "high number bad".

seriously, I spent... a Stupid amount of time setting that up. 🅱️lease clap for me -- I can safely say that I don't think anyone else would go that far.

I told myself after finishing The Incident I was not gonna be doing 5/6 rigs all in one shot again. (🤡)

The lighting situation drove me up the damn wall and after a point, I just said fuck it. What I didn't anticipate was the stark contrast of John and The Werewolf talking and the memory in terms of setting. It's really cool, I think.

I fretted over this part the whole time because I didn't know what order I wanted and what I was going for, but I think I escalated it properly.

For The Werewolf's veins, I had to do the ol' S4S shuffle, but they are a combination of 3, maybe 4 and ofc had to make outfits for the progression, which is why he's still rocking the half-sleeve look (and from an age/timeline stand point makes him 21/22ish). You know what, let's look at them again!

it's a good look

Speaking of... I had to make a lot of The Werewolf solo poses and I found out that uh, it's all in the brows; they can completely change the meaning. It's bad enough with the angles and the general body language. (Or maybe not? Eh.)

Another visual thing -- The Big Scene... that one, I had going back and forth with it until I decided going all white for The Werewolf's eyes (or lack of pupils). It was far more striking and way scarier than the 'blank' eyes I tend to go with.

seriously, I contemplated on tagging it as a jump scare.

Oh! and the shaking of 3 pics, that was spur of the moment because I really kept going back into the post and something was just missing. I have a (cracked) PhotoMosh and I played with the setting a bit and bingo.

It is probably my favorite post so far. I had to settle with the fact that it's not gonna be the one to be spread around. Or any of it really.

Story Stuff:

There's so many crumbs in this! So. Many. There's even a loaf of bread or two. If you tell me what you're picking up on and you're on some kind of track, you get a cookie (🍪). (I'm serious, btw)

John's clearly shook. This may be the first time we've really seen him like this. And The Werewolf is nonchalant... (I will admit John looks very pretty when he's like this lol)

...or is he? I think there are more cracks in the dam than you'd think. A while back in a post that's somewhere on this blog, but John has a tendency to play with his hands when he's anxious.

Another thing that I just noticed is that they didn't really look at each other; I wonder what that's all about?

I've said it once and I'll say it again; even though they share the same body, John and The Werewolf look very different from one another, and I think that's neat.

Jordan being real about taking advantage of the fact that they're getting paid $$$ and they'd be dumb to not take up the offer.

I had to remember that Brian did not know John was a werewolf at this point in time, or even begin to really put 2+2 together. I call it a bit of genre blindness, helped by the fact that this didn't happen all the time. He just rolled with it. Also, wow he looks very young without his tats; ofc this was the college years and he was beginning to fill out/eating good.

Mark is the smartest dude in the whole story. He said, nope, nuh uh, I'm OUT. IYKYK.

There were so many pics I wanted to take of Daniel punching The Werewolf right in the solar plexus (or thereabouts it might've been slightly lower than that). As they say in the FGC, he failed to block that overhead.

I'm glad I decided to leave in the fact that The Werewolf couldn't see too well.

The Werewolf blew his vocal cords out screaming. He said that shit with his soul. Rarely do I go with the funky text with him since that's his "big scary werewolf" voice (that and he rarely speaks like that). My man said "I'll make you suffer my pain." Beautiful. Can't wait to see how that plays out.

That said, The Werewolf did work himself up to the point of nearly killing himself on accident. But as Charles predicted, his body hit the emergency button and shut that shit down.

I spent the most time worried about this part because it needed to get the point across without it being so... cheesy?

also, I have to say? The Werewolf is a Swearwolf. *rimshot*

The Fucking Around part has ended... The Finding Out part is really going to be fun to watch. (I mean, you can already do this if you haven't but now you have way more context.)

There's something about The Werewolf that's becoming apparent (to us). He's still holding back on his actual feelings. Not only that... he hasn't gotten to John himself and I think that's where it's really gonna go down. John knows this; he's not naive to think that he didn't have a role in all of this too. Something to think about.

Charles is a flat out Nasty Man (very derogatory) and yet, I kinda enjoy writing it.

I do love how he is formal with names, "dear ____" and referring to John's formal name Johnathan.

which I always forget this mfer is named Johnathan. Nobody calls him that.

I'm here for a blind date I'm genderfluid (afab if you're wondering. I apparently give off Boy Vibes™)

I love dinosaurs (some of my favorites include Archaeopteryx, Australovenator, and Baryonyx, Minmi, Oviraptor, and Yi qi) comic books (mostly Suicide Squad but you already know that by now), and I'm trying to get into cars because I want to be an automechanic, since my grades weren't good enough for paleontology and I suck at art. College wasn't right for me and being an automechanic is probably like... A trade school thing, right? I also like Transformers. I got a mullet at one point, but it grew out a bit lol. I'm kinda clumsy, which is pretty evident since my glasses keep breaking lol. Not like I can afford new ones so I guess I'm using duck tape and super glue to keep the frames in... 2 pieces I guess. I guess it's just duck tape keeping the ear things on. I really got into old monster movies in Middle School because of a book called the encyclopedia of monsters. From like... The really old ones like The Blob That Ate Everything to the ones from to the slightly more recent ones but they're still decades old, like the Alien Franchise. Not too big of a fan of regular (?) horror movies. Technically I haven't seen most of the alien movies, but I really liked Alien VS Predator so I think that counts enough. I know I've already told you this but I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole of wilderness survival and eventually wound up finding a channel about boomerangs and the occasional Australian wildlife video (there's one titled Kangaroo Maggots. He finds a kangaroo corpse at the side of the road and maggots are inside of it. Really fucking gross. 0/10. Do not recommend if you hate maggots. Don't know why I watched that specific video honestly, but all the rest are good). Which lead me to another channel about Australian animals. I'm American and idk how tf I got from how to cook a cactus to watching a video on dingoes. I play a lot of simulator games. Like... If you look at my steam library it's like... 99% simulator games, the Batman: Arkham Series, and then a hunting game for some reason. And even then I think that's a hunting simulator come to think about it. Don't know why I like Simulator Games, I just do. Wait... Does the Arkham series count as simulator games? Like... Are they technically Batman simulators. I love reptiles and rats, but I fucking hate spiders. Need an Australian Man™ to help me if a spider is near lol. You know wow I'm talking about here I tend to get overexcited when myself or others are talking about stuff I'm interested in. I go on long tangents about stuff I like. I'm kind of a nerd when it comes to my semi-niche interests. I do enjoy listening to people go on their own tangents about things they like too though.

It's also quite apparent I have a thing for weird and/or disgusting fictional men ( my taste in women is better I swear. (Will fall for any tall woman who even looks in my direction. Which isn't saying much cuz I'm 4'10¾") )

The moment you sit down at your table, after being rushed over by the waitstaff, you're met with a wide and mischievous grin, a signature smile from a man you recognise.

"I go by many names. Captain Boomerang, George, Digger. But you can call me daddy, if you like."

You screw your face up a bit, trying to pretend like that line didn't get you, and he's quick to try and win you over.

"I'm joking, love! Lighten up, it's a blind date, it's supposed to be fun!"

At least he's quick to... not apologise for his jokes, but to try and recover from them. And he's also surprisingly interested in you, and in getting to know you. Although, you fear it's just so he can make more risque jokes.

"Ah, mechanics. So... you're good with your hands then? You wear one of them little overall things? With anything underneath?"

The loud laugh he lets out at the end of his remarks are so endearing though, they make his lewd comments almost charming. Which you're unsurprised by, given your specific taste in men. He's perfectly strange and definitely a little bit gross, just how you like them.

He comments on your glasses, mentioning that you seem like someone who is a creative problem solver. A comment that feels like a proper compliment, not just a segue into another flirtatious remark. And it feels like he's dialing down on that the more he gets to know you. he talks to you about horror films for twenty minutes without saying anything lewd or crude. It's almost like it's a defense mechanism he uses to keep a distance, to maintain his facade.

In fact, he barely says anything at all when you're telling him about your preference for classic horror, and what video games you're interested in. Almost like he's enjoying learning about you. Almost like he can forego his usual ridiculously brazen behaviour around you. And you're more than happy to return the favour when he gets excited about boomerangs. Your fault for mentioning them.

"Yeah, you can learn a lot from a video online about surviving in the outback, but if you're ever looking for private tutoring, I'm your man."

He winks with this statement, but you can tell there's sincerity behind the offer. The fact that you're willing to listen politely, and that you seem interested in him when he's talking about subjects that are so personal to him, makes him feel very at home around you. And you're warming up to him, to the point where you can make some jokes too. I mean, no harm in joking about inviting him round to your place to get rid of some scary spiders, since he's Australian Outback Extroardinaire.

"Listen, for you, I can let myself be more of a hero than anti-hero for a change. Show me the little buggers and I'll have your house spider free in no time."

He winks again, and you're so fond of it that you can't help but imagine a life of being winked at across tables. A strange, happily ever after.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Currently, 16. but i orphaned a lot back in the day. I think i've probably written closer to 25-30 total in my life.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

300,037!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Red, White & Royal Blue mostly but i've been thinking baout branching out soon. I've also written Snowbaz, Cemetery Boys, and Jonjay

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to but i'm not the best honestly, working on getting better and replying to more! I always feel guilty when I can't think of a response haha

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely I'm Taking A Ride With My Best Friend. It's bittersweet to say the least. When you've gone through hell and back with your person, and he's hurt you, but he's also the best part of your life... how do you move forward? how do you re-learn to coexist when you're no longer running for your life? I somehow thought I could answer those questions in one epilogue chapter....

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my endings are very very happy, but probably Family Lines. Adoption, and family, and recovery, and ahhhh adorable family being adorable things!!

2nd place might be Poison in His Blood bc i wrote this angsty ass chonic illlness werewolf au fic and the fluffy (lol) ending took all of us by suprise I think

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, but i've had a few like "i really wanted it to end like ____ :( " or "I think there's more you could have dug into with ____ :(" which i know aren't hate, but disppointing readers feels similar.

And once, a trump supporter got mad at me in my Superman and Lois fic's comments. Which is still fucking hilarious to this day bc for some reason they thought a literal alien wouldn't support immigration reform... and this was a comic book fan fic about superman's son being bi as all hell... fascinating...

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

yes and no. Have I written smut? yes. like, twice total. Do I enjoy writing it? no. I read a ton of it but, it's not my writing niche.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not yet!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

i don't think so?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

not yet! very open to it tho!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No and I don't think I would. I'm too much of a perfectionist

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

the spiderman one. I had an idea for Henry being Pretty Darn Sure that Alex is spiderman and putting himslf into situations where he'd run into him but... if across the spiderverse didn't reignite my love for spiderman enough to write it then idk what will

probably dialogue, including internal dialogue, I think. It comes much easier to me than ambiance/setting descripitons.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

smut for one. definitely need to work on pacing too.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I avoid it heavily. I took 4 years of french in high school but it's been years since then and my knowledge on it is preschool at best. another thing to work on tho!!

I can't even remember anymore and I never want to know. trist me, you want me to repress that shit even more than I do.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

jesus how could any writer pick??? Maybe I'm Taking A Ride With My Best Friend. It's my longest fic, and was definitly my biggest challenge. And, although there's things I'd change about it if I could, i'm still very proud of what I made! my traumatic little baby...

fashion dreamer was never marketed as another style savvy installment, so idk why you're complaining that it's not like those games. it's its own thing. that's like saying zelda sucks bc it's not a side scrolling game like mario, just because they're both from nintendo.

I’ll take further effort to try and avoid namedropping so it doesn’t turn up in the search, but given there have been talks about concern for this game in the main tag since it was announced, there are likely going to be some criticisms/mixed reviews until the people who don’t like the gameplay and conceits bounce off.

I will also note:

1) My critiques so far have mostly been focused on the gender-lock on fashion, and how the historical lack of depth in the men’s fashion - from Style Savvy, I’ll note, and I was dragging that series a WHOLE lot harder than Fashion Dreamer whose men’s fashion seems to be better by default - makes the gender-lock even more of a problem. Playing a bit more in offline mode, I AM seeing a bit more variety in the menswear aesthetics, which is great. Still would have preferred no gender locks on clothes, especially since I still don’t trust that the men’s fashion got anywhere near as much focus as the women’s. Still baffled why SOCKS are gender-locked. Again, the situation’s worse in Style Savvy, but there’s still a lot of room to improve.

2) There is a very clear through-line from Syn Sophia’s earlier fashion games to this one. There’s a reason why everyone’s first response when it was announced was “wait is that a Style Savvy?!” The artstyle is very similar. The clothes menuing has a clear resemblance. Further, this game is in the same extremely niche subgenre. The spiritual successor/sister game energy is extremely strong.

Which isn’t a bad thing in its own right! My comparison to Happy Home Designer vs a mainline Animal Crossing is because I actually really liked HHD for what it was. Pretty sure I even replayed it at some point. But because every design gave you unlimited creative freedom, you’d eventually hit a point where you unlocked most of the furniture, you’d done all the really cool requests, and then you’d hit a rut using the same basic layouts and items because there was no reason not to and eventually you decided you didn’t want to make a house devoted to the number 7 and dropped it. That’s my concern for Fashion Dreamer in terms of staying power, for precisely the same reasons. I’d like to be proven wrong, but since I HAVE seen a lack of structure and incentivizing in a companion game to a series that has more of it work against said companion game, there is a genuine cause for concern here.

I am genuinely enjoying the game and will definitely be posting some positive thoughts on it as well. The improvements to the character creator are solid. But there clearly are some things that won’t work for everyone, and the sense I got from the community as a whole even pre-release was excitement mixed with trepidation. That’s probably going to be a thing for a while. Feel free to block and move on if you need to, since I can already tell my opinions here are going to be mixed. What it does well it does genuinely well! But there are some pretty basic choices in things like ‘menu design’ that are not working for me. That has nothing to do with comparing it to any other fashion game, it’s just awkward.

i remember one of my first experiences reading tlou fics were with your writing as far back as late 2021/early 2022 (and if im misremembering when you first started writing, then you definitely fit in the early 2022 bracket hahaha). yours and others fics were things i looked forward to when i had some downtime. im white and always appreciated seeing fics specifically catered to black/POC fans and fics that never specified race, weight, gender expression, etc. it felt extremely inclusive to everyone involved and there was something for everyone to enjoy. i wont knock what others may be interested in because thats scummy and probably not what you want said on your behalf either, but these tags feel significantly less inclusive now and only fit the same exact mold of a hypothetical person involved with abby and/or ellie. its genuinely hard to come online and find anything worth reading because of how little diversity there is in whats being written. its far from what it used to be, hence why i still go back and read fics of yours and others from that time period. i am so sorry you and other black writers had to witness whats gone on recently. this is meant to be a safe space for queer people who enjoy tlou and fun little fantasies that should mean no harm to anybody. you guys do not deserve to have that tarnished and more needs to be done to change what this community has turned into.

and it’s common sense, like that’s just how it is. like, back innnn idk early?????? mid???? ‘22, the tag was only filled with like dom!ellie fics. a big thing at that time was like, oh i wish there was more sub ellie fics, dadada, i’m a top, there’s nothing for me, and like, that was really real, and now we have more sub ellie stuff. cool. i think all of the shit that happened just speaks to the fact that not everyone can really like, vibe with certain things on here like that, and they would like to be able to. i dont think it’s appropriate to like shit on that vibe or anything like that, but it is a valid complaint to have. so, yeah, i’m really hoping that in light of all of this, more diversified content is added to the tag — not even pertaining to a particular race or ethnicity but things that just deviate from a particular aesthetic, trope, and other common things that are typically seen nowadays on the tag. that’s not to say that erasure is necessary because now you’re just dtm but like ideas get circumvented pretty quickly and tbh that’s not exactly harmful, but it’s nice that there is some change that is happening that’s allowing people to settle into something that’s comfortable for them. i’m not even saying this just cause you like my stuff, but i think what you + some other people are grated by is pretty valid and, yeah, i hope that when you do sift through the tag in the future that it’s easier for you to find a story that you can feel more comfortable in and it incentivizes you to come back.

and like, on the fuckin.. being black and being here thing as of rn thing…. hey. like, i mean….. the way i saw people telling black women how they should feel about like some black girl receiving racially motivated hate was absolutely nuts and the fact that people were either motivating others to either look past it or were trying to tell other people how they should feel about things / what they should do was. Sick. LMFAO. but i mean! hey. just… hey. juuustt….. yikes. and the way it’s (like random people policing black people on this app) still going is just so… ghetto i just….. yyyikes. little bit too comfortable, in that chair. i think that’s a bit of an understatement.

In the Teen Wolf fandom, it seems like peeps only love the big-names, the ones who regularly return to post content versus people who joined in the last few years.

As someone who has been here a while, what's your take on this? Should new people stop trying? Because that's what I'm feeling.

I just wanna say, before I really get to my answer, I'm kind of touched that you see me having been around for a while!! I'm definitely not what I'd consider a big-name and I know my blog is mostly just my little corner full of stuff I curate with my own creations or reblogs of other people's but you see me 😊 I'm also for sure not tapped into the fandom itself like some folks I follow. I just doot my snoot in my little archive of teen wolf shenanigans and try to maintain friendships with anyone who wants to interact with me (via asks, messages, or tags, good golly I wanna hug anyone who interacts in tags lol and I for sure recognize when ppl come back).

I typed a way longer response that you may not have wanted, all to just say I would hate to see new people stop trying!! I adore that teen wolf is still pulling people despite it being off air and potentially not getting more movies (whether or not that's what most people want). I think fandoms need fresh air continually too. No two people will experience the show or content 100% the same way and have every single response be the same. Just with the two cakes mindset of creation, there are multiple cakes for how we all digest the show and they're all delicious. I carved out my own little corner here because I wanted organization for myself, and I create largely for myself. Any interaction I get, I fucking adore, I cannot impress that enough lol. I just never really expect it bc I know I do my own thing here with stuff like Multiamory May moodboards. Rarepairs and polyamory and trans headcanons just aren't everyone's cup of tea and I stopped trying to be recognized for what I "target" when I know my quality isn't 100% and I'm just vibing to my own weirdness instead of being super put together about it. I've definitely flickered in and out of the fandom when it comes to engagement too - like how last year (or year before? idk, time is confusing) I was running regular events but currently I just don't have the energy/passion in the same way.

If you really want to be seen more, esp if you make your own posts/content, utilize tags, even if you're hella lazy with it like me. I try to always use #twedit no matter what, in addition to #twfemslash and #twrarepair when applicable. Those go on the radar of people who fill the queues of some "big" blogs that do a bunch of reblogging just to have continual content out there. I also feel like I got a foot in via a couple of my discord servers, mainly Teen Wolf Legacy, and making a couple too (one for Scott shipping, one for teen wolf femslash; others i know of included pecific Derek-positive ones, a Stiles shipping one). That absolutely increased my reach, because I could share my stuff with people who specifically wanted to get pinged for, say Allison/Stiles content as an example. Idk that my following blew up or anything, I'm still a relatively small teen wolf blog. But it did make it easier to grow into my niche here. It also made me realize how big the fandom is. Some might only watch for or engage with a particular ship or character, while others like me do so for pretty much anyone.

This was still lengthy, I'm sorry. You caught me after work when my brain is like solely focused on decompression via fixation and tumblr is often a source for that. Please don't be discouraged from trying, and if you feel comfortable coming directly to me I could possibly point you in the direction of some other teen wolf blogs with similar interests! Big-names are hella daunting and it still blows my mind some of the ones I always sort of looked up to also just have some nerd behind them that I can talk to (even if I feel like im annoying them lmao). ended up watching this video the other day where some cunt was talking about how they use ai to help them with their art & at first I'm thinking ok I can see how it could be helpful in finding references ig bcus sometimes it's like if you need a specific lighting AND pose? you spend more time looking for refs than you do drawing. so like cool you can generate idk man cross legged underwater lit from below or whatever niche thing you couldn't find on stock or reference sites but no this person said they use it to come up with ideas for them bcus coming up with ideas & inspo is the hardest part so like when they don't have any ideas they type something broad as hell like "moon fairy princess oil painting" scroll through all the images it generates find one they like and redraw it. and it drove me absolutely fucking insane like maybe just because of where I stand w my art where its like I agree w them that ideas & inspiration is often the hardest part. like my biggest strength is technical skill I can pretty easily bang out realism I get 'thought this was a photo' tags on my work but I feel like creatively I'm so stagnant compared to when I was a teenager with hardly any technical skill but so many ideas and so much to say & I envy my younger self who came up w characters and stories all the time and always had things they truly wanted to draw rather than just doing photo study after photo study between actual bursts of inspiration but like. is the solution to that to just fucking give up & let an ai do all your thinking for you? photo studies are fun and challenging & I enjoy them but imo they're hardly ART I'm not really SAYING something I'm just DRAWING something. don't you want to fucking say something!?!? what's the point of even BEING an artist if instead of challenging yourself you're just gonna redraw ai generated images it's just a copy of a copy what's the POINT I'm so tired

F.A.Q

What exactly is this blog?

I have a lot of niche interests and am a part of a lot of “fandoms” I suppose, so I wanted an outlet to feel productive and make content again. It’s been a long time since I’ve been back on tumblr and even longer since I’ve written anything so I’m hoping I won’t get discourged or burnt out this time.

How do you write?

Normally I opt for third person in order to get as much information and perspectives in at once, but I can also write in second person with more ‘you’s in there if requested. Honestly I shift between the two a little too often lol. Headcanons for the most part will feature a lot more you’s than drabbles by default though. I try to keep things gender neutral unless specified so if you want a M or F reader be sure to include it! Unless specified, my ‘nsfw’ pieces will be vague and fade-to-black on top of that.

When are requests open?

Requests are pretty much open 24/7, but whether I answer the asks or not is dependant on a myriad of factors. (How many requests there are, mood, energy level, the ask, ect.)

What fandoms do you write for?

Too many. I’ll have a list of them linked here for people to go through. Everything should be organized by the particular fandom and then if there are characters underneath that would mean I can only write for that particular group of characters. In bigger IPs, I narrow it down to continuities that I’m familar with.

How do you answer requests?

It depends on what is being requested. For example, if someone wants headcanons I will type up everything in a bullet format with small pieces of dialogue if I’m feeling spicy. If someone wants a drabble then I’ll type up a couple paragraphs- maybe more if I’m feeling especially creative. I won’t really make fics of any kind since writing long form content isn’t specialty. There’s also no set order I’ll answer things in so it could take a long while for your request to be answered.

On top of that, I’ll also answer most things people ask me about myself. Whether it’s my own analysis of a character, writing tips, general opinions. So long as I don’t find the questions controversial or invasive in nature I don’t mind.

What don’t you write?

I won’t go anywhere near pedophilia, incest, snuff, scat/piss, beastiality. Honestly, anything illegal or kinks that gross me out are a no-go. I also don’t do OC x Canon, but I do have my own OCs that I may or may not introduce in the future. If one of my friends have an OC I especially like, then I’ll probably write for them too. Idk, it’s up to my mood.

Since this is just a hobby for me, I’ll just be doing requests that pique my interest anyway.

Do you do AUs?

Sure, if the au is straightforward enough or is already well established within the fandom itself I have no problem with doing AUs. Certain AUs may require more research or thought than others but it’s not off the table.

Can you tag your posts with __?

Sure, if you need a particular tw or genre/topic (?) tagged then I’ll do my best to accomodate. If the blog ever gets to a certain size it may be difficult for me to go back to all my posts, but I’ll do my best. If you ever see a post of mine that hasn’t been tagged please let me know- old or new. Just please be patient if I don’t get to it immediately.

Dream trip - idk I'm not super picky! I just wanna explore the world, see cool things, eat good food, meet nice people, etc. I have a few specific places in mind, if only for their proximity to friends!

Last book you read - hmmm. I'm pretty sure it was Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune by Chris Brennan, or Snape: A Definitive Reading by Lorrie Kim.

Last book you enjoyed - Oh geez. Ummmm. Hmmmm. Who knows? I'm in that weird area of "I've read too many books in my lifetime" but also "I've not actually read a book in a while" (RIP my attention span.) I want to say Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, I reread that one last year I think! I love, love, love that book.

Last book you hated - I wanna say...maybe...I'm not sure, exactly, but I distinctly remember whatever it was deeply offended me on some level. And I tried to trudge through it but got fed up with all of the nonsense the author was spouting. Also fairly certain it was a non-fiction book. But what it was exactly, I can't say, and honestly I remember being so upset, I'm not sure I wanna remember the details LOL.

Favourite thing to cook/bake - Omgggg. Banana bread???? I think banana bread. I love baking in general, but banana bread is special. Something about peeling the bananas and mushing them is so satisfying to me. Also: it smells GREAT, and tastes BETTER.

Favourite craft to do in your free time - I used to knit, but I've not done it in a while! I need to practice again because I remember loving it a lot. And I'd like to learn how to bind books!

Most niche dislikes - "niche" is kinda weird to think about but probably hotdogs? So great is my disdain for hotdogs that I can't even watch other people eat them. My whole body goes into red alert. It instinctively recalls the taste and texture of hotdogs, and watching other people eat them triggers my gag reflex. It is truly quite dramatic and embarrassing.

Also Johnny Cash???? People love Johnny Cash. And no offense or anything but hearing his music makes me feel violent towards my ear drums. I'd paint you a picture but it's really graphic, the feelings it stirs in me. Let's just say, I would not have functioning ear drums by the end. (I'm sorry, the original version of "Hurt" is the best, Nine Inch Nails all the way, I can't fight the truth.)

Opinion on circuses - Cool and creepy, I think? Like, excellent visuals, but also seems like a good setting for a horror film.

Do you have a sense of direction and if not what's the worst way you've gotten lost? My sense of direction is nonexistent but thankfully I have Google Maps to guide me. Most of the time.

The most hilarious way I've gotten lost was the last time I went to my doctor's office. Yes, my doctor. The one I visit at least twice a year for necessary medication. The one that's like a five minute drive from my house. That doctor. Yeah. I tried driving there for my last appointment without Google. And missed my turn. And had to loop around. Spent a few minutes panicking because I ended up on a road I'd never been on before. Managed to pull up Google Maps and got myself to my appointment on time, thank goodness.

Hey Emily can you and your writer-reader friends help us with this? It's a long story so sorry for that.

Me and a couple close friends found an author in a new fandom, we've been more or less chatting with her anonymously for a few months now and she's pretty nice we share a lot of brainrots as writer-readers ourselves. This author is kind of a niche writer so it's understandable that she really wants her fans to leave comments and be openly supportive, within this time she even had a depressive episode due to lack of engagement and fandom wankery. All understandable really. She came back a while ago and is back in great mood, and she dropped new fics too.

The problem is, the newest fic was sad and dark, the characters were bitter and the ending was ambiguous, tags and summary conveyed that, it was all intentional and her own friends have been hyping it up as sad bitter dark fic (not problematic dark, just dramatically angsty and bleak that fits canon tonally)

One of us has been going thru a very rough time themself, spiraled badly it seems, and I didn't learn about it until today. They read the fic, not their type of fic at all but I think they just wanted to feel something even if it was negative, judging by the comment. They're a big commenter and they left a long comment detailing all the stuff they liked, quotes, and that they really liked how the ending was not necessarily happy. This started the problem. Now the writer is constantly talking about how she hates sad endings, shading sad/ bittersweet endings, got her friends to post a lot of Happy content about those characters all of a sudden, talking to her other anons like she's venting about my friend's comment and my friend who had been avoiding social media happened to check in once, only to find all of that on their dash. They're now really upset at themself.

It's a messy situation and Idk how to help. I got to talk to my friend after days and this is what I see. They're regretting everything from commenting to ever "bothering" that author by chatting with her like It Is A Mess okay, and of course I'm worried about my friend but Idk how to handle the situation so the author doesn't get any flame or thinks we're attacking her? Our other friend is not as invested so he's okay with dropping the author altogether. Please advise us fanfic veterans we need it badly.

As long as your friend didn’t write anything rude/mean in their comment, I don’t see how they’ve done anything wrong in this situation. It sounds like the author is overreacting to a harmless comment.

At this point, it might be best to no longer engage with the author about this particular fic/topic if it’s going to cause distress to any of the parties involved. It might be better for you and your friend to put some space between y’all and the author for now. Maybe unfollow her until she’s done ranting about this topic. Eliminate the stressor from your lives, y’know? It doesn’t mean you can’t still read and enjoy her fics in the meantime.

I’ve personally reached out to people through chat when a problem has arisen (I wouldn’t try this approach anonymously via an Ask). I like this approach because you can be more direct without outsiders (followers) being in your business. However, I know this approach can be intimidating, especially when you’re trying to talk to a larger blog. Your friend also might not want to risk getting further backlash from the author which is understandable.

If your friend does decide to take the direct conversation approach then remind them not to come off aggressive or super defensive. It doesn’t have to be a big deal. Just a simple, “Hey, sorry for bothering you. I’ve seen you making some posts about so-and-so and I wanted to apologize if it was because of the comment I made on so-and-so fic. Just wanted to let you know I didn’t mean anything bad by it/didn’t mean to imply anything negatively about you/your fics.”

There's really not much else you can do about the situation. Just reassure your friend that they didn't do anything wrong/don't deserve the backlash and then try and wait for the author to move past the topic. It's up to y'all on whether y'all want to still engage with this author in the future.

3. what work are you the most proud of?

this one is super hard, because i wouldn't consider myself 'proud' of a lot of my work. im not happy with my writing a lot of the time, so i hardly ever go back and reread my own works and such, sometimes i don't even like looking at comments when they come through lmao, it's definitely something i need to work on. idk if we're only doing 2023 for this question, but if not, an all time pride of mine is brother in the river. something about it makes me really happy, i'm so proud of the interactions and raph's internal monologue. as for 2023, i love deaf words on unwilling ears, it's such a niche book and a tiny fandom but the emotion in that fic is so OUGH

17. your favourite character to write this year?

this is also super tricky as i've written soo many characters lol. i really enjoy characters with lots of depth - i like writing them from outsider perspectives to try and clue in what makes their brain tick. hobie from atsv is like this, as well as yelena from black widow, link, and jason todd!

28. favourite work i wrote this year?

its definitely not one i'd consider myself the most PROUD of, but it's very self indulgent and as a result one i really like double cross, which is the most funny/traumatic thing you'll ever read, depending if you know the beefleaf spoiler. i also really enjoyed writing kindergarten crush, even if i wouldn't consider it particularly good writing, it was sweet and happy and tbh i think the trigun fandom needed that

29. favourite passage i wrote this year?

i've written SO MANY words this year so trying to pick my favourite is so hard. i'm looking at my more recent stuff... from what i've sorted through it might have to be from the memory hurts (but does me no harm):

The fawn rises from himself on unsteady legs, as unsure as a newborn, and blinks at his surroundings. His glistening little nose twitches, but he does not need to breathe anymore. He stares at Qingxuan for a moment, black eyes incomprehensible. He Xuan moves a little towards him, where the animal can see the calamity, and his neck snaps forward at the motion. Most animals are wary of the calamities on an instinctual, base level. The unconscious knowledge that they are wrong to exist the way they do. The fawn doesn’t shrink back or run, though. He just stares. He recognises his kin, in the cold and the unbreathing and the painless.

idk something about it is so ahhh and i think i matched the visuals to the vibes that this fic is loosely based off, which is abstract (psychopomp) by hozier. i think it just captures the overall tone of the fic very well, in a way that i'm super happy with!

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

definitely Anything for you, my Shoresy fic. teeny tiny fandom for a weird niche canadian hockey comedy, but the response i got was really lovely and it's somehow in my top 5 for kudos, comments, and bookmarks. that was the first thing i posted after a couple brutal months for mental health and writers block, so those comments and stuff are really special to me

and then a special mention to chapters 6 and 7 of Austin Alone because people came fucking flying out of the woodwork to scream at us within the first couple hours of posting lmao i don't think i'll ever see anything like that ever again

10. What work was the quickest to write?

oh hands down it's What the fuck is with the spatula?, which i wrote in a single 4ish-hour sitting and a lot of that time was spent rewatching the Are You The One? ep they're watching so i could get the sequence of events right lmao. look, i just have a lot of feelings about drunk idiots brute forcing their way through complex probability with a spatula, and i needed to project that onto my otp

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

dragging the carcasses of so many half-written fics, but trying to actively work on Acesodyne, which is a billy x owen post-1x07 multichap canon divergence about injury and music and grief and healing and i’m trying not to let it spiral out of control and it may not ever get posted even if i do finish it but hey we’ll give it a shot.

also determined to actually finish Downpour, which literally started as just “i bet if they stood in the rain Billy’s hair would get in his face and it would be cute and Owen would kiss him about it” and somehow turned into a bit of a trauma and body worship thing??? idk don’t ask me i don’t have any answers but i do have a 2.5k partial draft that i should put some hours into

16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?

lol it's "Established Relationship" from all my billy x owen oneshots where they're together at the start and i'm not giving you all the fucking backstory for how that happened, just jump in and we're off.

(...but also you and i know that the "how that happened" is usually Austin Alone if people know what details to look for lmao)

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

i don’t see myself drifting away from billy x owen any time soon, so definitely gonna keep thinking about those bastards more than literally anybody else in this fandom (except you lol). i also want to do more Shoresy/Goody. i wrote the one oneshot, but i have a multichap outline that needs some massaging and i think could be interesting. and i get to slam more canadiana into fic, which i really can’t do when all my other shit takes place in texas lmao

and then i’m sure i’ll get surprised by a pairing and end up spitting out something isn’t even on my radar yet. who knows, maybe i’ll finally find a Ted Lasso pairing that i want to write about. Colin and...[insert name here idk we’ll see but if i write about anyone it’ll probably be Colin]

27. What do you listen to while writing?

*gestures vaguely at my entire spotify wrapped* no but seriously. depends on the fic but i’ll generally have a playlist, album, or even song that i loop for each fic. sitting there long after midnight had a very angsty playlist. touch the sky and bite the asphalt was Maneskin’s album Teatro d’ira hence the fic title. i’m pretty sure with a gift for burning was Let Me Drown by Orville Peck. Acesodyne’s playlist is heavier on acoustic guitar/pop-punk because it’s a lot of songs that i know how to play on guitar so i can connect a physicality to what i’m trying to write

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

gonna resist every bone in my body that wants to be self-deprecating and couch this with all the weaknesses i see etc etc. big fan of this paragraph from with a gift for burning:

So many voices he wants to hear tonight. Numbers he knows by heart, burned into his muscle memory and connected to nothing. Harkes’ line had stayed in service the longest. Nobody canceled his contract, and it rang to voicemail for months before the unpaid bills piled up and his line was cut off. Billy called, again and again on bad nights, until his mouth shaped the words in time with Harkes’ rhythm. “Yo, it’s Jake. Leave a message if you want, but you should have just texted.” The last time he called, a confused teenage girl picked up and Billy threw his phone against the wall.

I was a little drunk when i wrote it, and then when i reread it i immediately had a moment of “oh :(” and then i knew i was onto some shit and it helped me break the direction the rest of the fic was gonna go lol

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

I did not expect my stuff to steer so hard into angst quite as much as it does???

but also in some ways biggest surprise was just that i...can... (don’t look at me)
