HI i would LOVE to talk about george thank you so much. also this makes me realize i've never actually sat down and just made a post unabashedly infodumping at length abt an oc before and it seems silly that i haven't. i ask only for all dear readers to please temper their expectations for this post with the knowledge that i just smoked half a joint before sitting down to answer it. a small one. but still. anyway

FIRST OF ALL FOR THE UNACQUAINTED THIS IS COOKING WITH GORGEOUS, aka cookie or george for short. he uses he/him and she/her pronouns interchangeably!

hi sorry that's not cookie that's a horse in a bridal veil that i. found in my stuff while trying to scroll and find my cookie art. i just got distracted and had to show you. okay no for real here's cookie

he's the character i'm playing in a playtest campaign of the absolutely mesmerizing sapphicworld, an in-development ttrpg!!! and if i'm going to be talking about cookie i feel like i HAVE to say i think a huge amount of her charm and dazzle and charisma comes directly from the charm and dazzle and charisma of the setting i created her for. i know i am laying it on really thick right now but that is on purpose. i want, desperately and unashamedly, for this game to get really popular bc 1. it's genuinely that good. and it's not even DONE yet and 2. i want everyone to get into it so that everyone will make sapphicworld characters and then i'll get to see everyone's sapphicworld characters.

EDIT i'm scrolling back up here and adding a readmore bc this is already getting so long lol. you asked for "a little more" and apparently i have graciously decided this means "literally every fact about cookie that exists in my brain"

SO a lot of the info/tidbits i haven't shared about cookie are i guess gameplay-specific stuff... his title (which is like a class/playbook) is "The Noble Sweetheart," though in sapphicworld "nobility" no longer has anything to do with wealth or class, and is instead entirely about amassing a court purely via devotion/popularity; her subculture (which is like, Who You Hang Out With; drifters, goths, poets, debauchers, cowpokes, etc) is Babe; and her kind (which is like ancestries but in sapphicworld is really just like, a physical form, which u can change more or less at will) is Lunarthrope, which is basically a werewolf!! or more broadly a furry, since u always look like whatever were-animal you are 24/7. just MORE at night, tho i suppose i don't represent that aspect much in my cookie art... ANYWAY i am restraining myself from just sitting here and like. transcribing her entire character sheet. but basically what all this means is that cookie's role in the world (at least at the beginning of the campaign) is "Professionally — no, VOCATIONALLY Hot Person who everyone loves so so so so so so much." cookie really enjoys this role.

he's named cooking with gorgeous because he's an avid cook, and he wants to share that with you, and he's gorgeous!! though honestly the cooking hasn't ended up as important to his character as it was when i first came up with him, lol — but my initial concept was kind of like, what's the equivalent of a bouncy normie recipe blogger/lifestyle influencer but in the context of the lush horny trans deathless psychedelic universe of sapphicworld. and it's cooking with gorgeous, a doggirl dyke with big blue boobs (six of them!!) who is so devastatingly cute and darling that a bunch of people just kind of pledge their fealty to him for no real reason other than he feeds them. and is cute

also her name is def influenced by the fantastic names of many canon sapphicworld npcs! like, quick example list of some npc names off the top of my head: the booty commie, death cybernetic, princess eureka!, the culinary goof (whom cookie dislikes. btw.), pizza friday (whom cookie loves!!!)

cookie is very very determined, and she's ALMOST always very confident. even when she isn't feeling confident, she's still very good at forcing herself to keep putting one foot in front of the other — maybe just while screaming or crying or uncontrollably barking or at least very ardently complaining. he has a tendency to be spoiled and, like, tactless-via-obliviousness, so sometimes he can be grating to interact with, and he has a petty/vindictive streak; but in general he's an AGGRESSIVELY kind person and usually aims all his shrill, cheerful stubbornness directly toward the goal of refusing to accept anything but the best for everyone.

at the beginning of our campaign cookie has JUST received a brand new castle!!!! (chateau gorgeous.) which he doesn't actually "own" bc, remember, no wealth or class in sapphicworld, but he's the ENTHUSIASTIC new caretaker and is chomping at the bit to renovate it so ppl can live there and he can throw a bunch of magnificent parties and basically continue living exactly as he has been, But Even More Fabulous. obviously this is exactly when the main plot threat of the campaign shows up and spoils everything and compels cookie to go on his First Ever Adventure!!!!!! she HAS to save the world otherwise NOBODY will be able to go to the first big party at chateau gorgeous :((((

at this point to prevent myself from just like, giving you guys a play by play of the entire campaign so far i am going to just start listing every cookie fact i can think of as bullet points

🎀 he owns a magical sword in the shape of a giant microplane. it's called The Microplane. he pronounces this "mee-crow-plah-nay"

🎀 george desperately wants to resurrect The Dog-Lich, an entity that once ruled over all beasts from its palace on the moon but was murdered and torn to pieces in a cosmic war far in the past. her attitude towards this desire is 50% devoted lunar cultist, 50% parasocially obsessive twitter stan

🎀 this isn't really a cookie fact but going back to how his title is The Noble Sweetheart — just for a glimpse at party composition, his fellow party members' titles are The Intimate Scholar, The Tentacle Advocate, and The Tw*nk Controversial (the * is the canon spelling).

^ aforementioned tw*nk. its name is Mwah ("pronounced like the kiss you blow at someone you just fucked over"). mwah is played by @/squiddelyfather on twitter!

🎀 mwah and cookie used to be very, very tight, BEFORE mwah became the tw*nk controversial. now that it's so.... you know.... controversial, well. they're still very close, but it has gotten a little stilted and weird (and watching them slowly un-weird it together as the campaign goes on has been one of my fav roleplay experiences ever honestly)

🎀 cookie's other adventuremates, skarligge and delaryn, are both very indulgent towards him. delaryn acts the most grumpy/dismissive about it but is honestly sometimes the worst about spoiling cookie out of anyone in the party (skarligge's player is twt@/clown_dream and delaryn's is twt@/glaiveguisarme and hey while im at it our fantastic gm is the sapphicworld dev, twt@/ddemoneclipse. hi guys i hope u don't mind me chattering abt ur ocs here lol it's just hard to talk abt the best of cookie w/o bringing up everyone else's characters and roleplay also!!!)

🎀 cookie is very VERY sensitive and will burst into tears at the drop of a hat. the precursor to this is her eyes getting So So So Big And Wet And Round. one of my favorite bits to menace the other party members with is when something is not going cookie's way i will lean into my mic and say "cookie's eyes are getting so so so big. they're getting so big and wet and round and shiny. they're so so round and fucking big her eyes are like big wet black glass marbles" and this is like kryptonite to them. this is like getting hit with deadly radiation

🎀 oh speaking of fashion!!!! one of cookie's perks from being a Babe is that she can always change her look whenever she wants. she will ALWAYS have whatever outfit she needs and can quickchange instantly. wait this reminds me i have a bunch of seasonal holiday outfits sketched out and i don't think i've ever posted them here but it'll only let me put one more image in this post. well here have this one

Man it's been a long time since I've done an ask cluster! Let's see if I can get some down...

He's an extremely fun character to write for and play with! So in that sense I'm fond of him, haha. He's such a huge disaster of a person, there's always something fun to do with him. Well "fun" in a relative sense.

I don't have anything to forgive him for, he didn't hurt me. |D He hurt the brothers!

I do have an idea for a cute feature inspired by Six-Eared Macaque! I should really sit down and do that already... and finish the one I half started but never finished...

I don't think my opinion on any of them changed! I love them all, haha. Which ones I drew comics about just depends on which ones I get ideas for really. Sometimes I get Alphys ideas and sometimes I get Goatparents ideas! Inspiration is fickle!

I don't have any solid plans or anything. :B Just gonna keep chugging along with silly comics and art! Work on Defrag and such. I'd like to finish a Ladyverse comic I've had lying around forever, and I had vague plans for doing a doujin for them too I could work on... and also seeing if I could format Handplates into a book format... I've always got a bunch of projects, haha.

It works on that level! It wasn't intentional though. |D

I do enjoy speculation! I don't really have much of my own though, I didn't predict anything in chapter 2 so now I'm assuming I can't predict anything in the future chapters either, haha.

Emesis Blue is great! Some really beautiful visuals in there, very striking! Love the mood of it too and a lot of the surreal imagery. I think it helped spur me back into TF2 again, haha. Medic and Scout's relationship was so cute.

I have thought about this! It has its share of challenges though... I outlined them more in this post. A pdf would be more doable though... could even include some extra stuff as well! Hmm...

I can see that! He'd probably spend as much time out in the rain as he could just doing whatever to stay outside.

It was pretty much always going to end like that. I always wanted it to end on a hopeful note! Which might seem weird with how dark it is at the beginning. I DID for a brief period at the very beginning of Handplates think about stopping with the Pacifist run, but that was only because I thought going where I wanted to go would take too long and already the project seemed so dauntingly huge at the time, haha. But it was always going to end in a positive way!

Gaster talks about what he originally intended to create here, and he explains a bit about the physical experiments he runs on the brothers here. They aren't really a solution in and of themselves so much as tools to try and find a way to break the barrier. Really though, Gaster got stuck in the sunk-cost fallacy lol.

I don't really have opinions about what canon Gaster would be like. |D Handplates Gaster is his own thing really. Canon Gaster, who knows! Deltarune Gaster, who knows! I will say I hope Gaster stays a mystery in Deltarune and never actually shows up but I think the odds of that are really low at this point.

I thought about doing a script along those lines! I did a few rough drafts of one, but it never really went anywhere... it'd end up dead-ending or kind of meandering off. I might see if I can get an actual script down for a side-comic or something in the future... it might be better suited for a fic.

I was just thinking about this lately! I was picturing Gaster totally forgetting about that until he sees Papyrus squinting and is like OH GOD YOUR EYES THAT'S RIGHT D: and goes to get him looked at lol.

I couldn't come up with a good idea for Flowey which is a shame, I do like him, haha. If one comes to me though I might make a little side comic about it!

Gaster's LV is complicated... his stats in-game are ludicrous if I recall correctly. Did he carry the damage from his murders into the void, even if those murders weren't his in the new timeline? Deep thoughts.

He fed them anything he could find, haha. Which is why sometimes they just ended up with chocolate bars (which he intended as dinner for himself). He probably fed them more often than he fed himself lol. He did feed them fairly regularly though.

Not about skeletons, probably. |D

Man I know I had an explanation for this but it was so long ago... it's hard for me to remember. It could be that the Riverperson is just weird and has weird insight into elements of things, had a prophetic dream... I don't know! It bugs me now that I can't remember this, haha.

Salty, may I ask which you recommend more: the one piece manga or anime. I wanna get into it but I also want a recommendation on which one may be better to start with depending on the pros and cons. Anyways I apologies if this is a dumb thing to ask.

Sure! One Piece is a really interesting beast when it comes to the difference between it's anime and manga, and at the end of the day it depends on your preferences- However yes, there are Pros and Cons to each! For this ask, I'll be trying my best to stick to the Official options available to you.

Also, this post specifically will be about how to best GET INTO the series, not necessarily a critique on the content of it! (I'll gladly do a separate write up on that eventually if anyone is interested in my thoughts on the Pros and Cons of the series itself)

Anyway, here are my personal thoughts:

MANGA

(This is my preferred way to experience the story)

PROS

-I'm not a manga purist by any means HOWEVER, the One Piece Manga is really good

-The pacing is really great (especially initially). In the first half, arcs are very quick and snappy! And even as they got progressively longer in length I didn't mind because by that point the story already gripped me.

-The art is wonderful in both black and white, and the official colored scans (which you can find online)

-This isn't really a "pro" per say, but it's something I enjoy doing. When I read, I like to put on some of the soundtrack from the anime. I usually find stuff like "Tense One Piece Music" or "Emotional One Piece Music" and listen to it as I read. It really enhances the experience for me personally. I also like to look up clips of arcs from the anime that I'm reading or already finished to see what they look like, and also see them in a fun new way. I feel like this sort of mixed approach is optimal for me.

CONS

-You have to read 😔

-There are many ways to read One Piece and in many different languages. There's black and white and colored manga- however just be careful. The best one TRANSLATION wise is the official release, and while you may find other options, some older "unofficial" translations are VERY outdated (I once saw one where Zoro casually dropped slurs)

-That also being said: Even though the official translation is the best, it is stuck in black and white. Many official colored scans were never officially licensed in English, and because of that aren't as accessible.

-Collecting it physically is fun, but can get VERY pricey. Like... hoo boy. Thankfully they sell compendiums that collect a metric shit ton of chapters, however the paper/print quality is noticeably cheaper. So if you want to collect them, the smaller volume releases are the way to go. That being said, I would just suggest using the Shonen Jump App by Viz Media. It's the best official way to support the series officially, as well as the cheapest for the average consumer! $3 a month for the entire library as well as other series + getting new chapters updated every week is great. I'm not sponsored or anything either, I just really like the model. So if you find yourself really enjoying the series, THEN you can go about collecting it physically if you want!

ANIME

PROS

-It's animated (obviously)

-You have a choice of either the Japanese Sub or English Dub. This also boils down to preference but from my experience they're both great options!!

-I'll get into it in the "Cons" section, but the One Piece anime is VERY long, like... kind of in a not so good way at certain points. However, I've heard that even though some parts are a bit too long, it's one of those things that if you really get into it, you'll love the fact that it feels like a never ending adventure! Not my experience, but it's what others have told me!

-This is gonna sound crazy, but Filler Arcs. A lot of people don't like these, and I get why, but they are very easily skippable if you want to look up a guide, and some of them can actually be really short and fun (as well as add a bit of extra flavor to the story). One of the best examples is an arc called "G-8". Even Manga readers recommend it, so you know it's good and gives each of the characters some fun moments!

CONS

-You may be aware already, but the One Piece anime has a very bad reputation of having HORRIBLE pacing. Now, to be fair, many people say that the pacing only gets truly horrible AFTER a very specific arc about halfway through the series (which is where a lot of anime watchers jump ship to the manga)

However, I'll be honest... I wasn't a super huge fan of the pacing from the beginning. To clarify, I STARTED with the anime. I don't have a super great attention span, so having to wait around 38 or so episodes for "Arlong Park", the arc that people suggest you get to before deciding whether to keep going or quit, was very difficult for me at first. I got through it, and I'm glad I did, but as soon as I did, I decided to switch over to the manga and had a much easier time.

-I find the show's music very repetitive at times. That's not to say the music is necessarily bad, I love the One Piece OST! It's just... over the years they have barely updated the soundtrack. Every arc you might here one or two new tracks, however a lot of the time you'll hear the same tracks replayed in the same sort of situations. ("OVERTAKEN" is an AMAZING track, but if I hear it one more time I'm gonna snap)

-This is a bit of a nitpick but I need to say it. One Piece's sound effects, while iconic, are also extremely outdated. When you start the series and hear the older-styled Toei Animation sound design, it is super charming because it fits with the older visuals. However in more modern One Piece, which visually looks incredible, THEY STILL USE THE OLD SOUND EFFECTS AND THEY JUST DON'T FIT.

TOEI, UPDATE YOUR SOUND LIBRARY!!!

ANYWAY...

Anyway, I hope my funny little list here helps!! Sorry it's so long, went a bit off the handle. But I think this is a fine enough starter guide and may help you get started!

WIBTA if I posted my art from a zine early?

I (23nb) joined a zine for a semi obscure 2000s manga/anime as a page artist with two of my friends. I enjoy this media but I don't really consider myself in the fandom, I only joined because one of my aforementioned friends is a huge fan of it and the other friend is also a casual enjoyer and we thought it would be fun if we all did a zine together.

However.

Most zines have a timeline of around 9-10 months from beginning to publishing but this one's been in production for almost 2 years. I've been in a few zines and this one has the worst organization I've ever seen in any project. The timeline on the discord only covered the first 5 months and had no estimate for how long the production would be, but a year and a half for publishing is pretty unheard of. The only check-in for progress that I remember didn't even require sending in your piece, you just had to say if you were finished or not and only a handful of the 30ish people on the discord responded lmao. Both of my friends ghosted at this point and the Singular mod (there might be two mods. I can't really tell) didn't dm them to see if they still wanted to participate or anything. Since there is only one person doing everything me and a few others have asked if they need any help and every time the mod(s) say that they're fine. every month or two someone will ask how the production is going and the mod will answer, and then another month goes by and the cycle repeats. I think the zine has finally gone into its “preorder interest check” stage (so not the actual preorder) but judging by how long everything takes i estimate that it'll be another 2 months at least before it actually goes into preorder. Its also never been clear if this is a free zine or if the sales will be donated to charity or distributed among the contributors. Since there's Allegedly going to be a physical copy it's gotta at least use the sales money to pay for production and shipping costs, but I have no idea if I'll be compensated with a physical copy or any money, especially if I do the thing that I might be TA for.

So here's my actual question. WIBTA if I posted the art I made for the zine before the mod says it's ok to do so? A big part of zine etiquette is that you do not post the final piece until the zine is finished, and the repercussions for someone who does range from a mod dming them to take it down or being kicked out of the zine entirely or in the absolute worst case, called out and blacklisted in the fandom and zine circles (I don't think anything that serious will happen to me but I have anxiety so I'm always imagining the worst thing) Most of the people on Tumblr in this fandom are kind of annoying fandom mom millennial types so I don't really want to deal with any possible backlash from them lol. If I just posted my art on Instagram idk if any of them would see it, but they Definitely would if I posted on Tumblr since the zine originated on there and it's such a small tag. I'm also so frustrated with the experience I kind of want to write something cunty in the description about how it's a zine piece for a zine that probably will never come out but I know that's just being petty and would probably invite drama. Also since I drew this thing a year and a half ago it's a little busted looking so I might redraw parts of it, so posting it would still be kinda shitty but it would technically be a different piece from the original one I submitted to the zine.

Hey! I see you're into fragile/higgs ship and caught myself quite like them too recently (tho i've been in DS fandom already for a year and mostly thought about them as a friends)

Just wondering why do you like them? Do you have any headcanons/interesting thoughts? I'm very curious 👀

Hi! First of all apologies for the wall of text you're about to get, but unfortunately you came knocking at my door after I spent nearly two months ruminating about this ship basically by myself sooo I'm dumping it all here

Well the short (lol) version is that in my first playthrough I mostly just absorbed the characters and storyline, but by the time I got to their final scene on the Beach I was like wait a minute... their whole shared storyline feels way too loaded for them to simply have been business associates, that shit is personal, even Higgs wanting to damage Fragile feels way too pointed to just be justified by "he was a turncloak with a secret agenda." Now, I'm not against a "they were simply close friends" interpretation, it works just as well to explain the emotional weight of their falling out, BUT I also cannot ignore the zest, the flavor, the spice of them actually having been involved romantically at some point. And honestly going into my second playthrough with the shipping goggles on I can't help thinking that Fragile speaks about Higgs like he was an ex that hurt her, and the way that she is suspiciously cagey about the specifics of their relationship makes my ears shoot up like a German shepherd.

On a Doylist level I also find it interesting that Kojima gave Higgs extra backstory that connects him to Fragile in the Director's Cut, and also how the behind the scenes for the DS2 mocap show Troy and Léa sharing a scene... I think Kojima is not done intertwining their story and we'll get more info in the sequel.

Now for the headcanons... I have enough that I might or might not be writing a long-ish fic about it, but I want to finish this Director's Cut playthrough before completing it (I could just look stuff up on the wiki but that's not fun). Also I have some art in the pipeline about it that I hope to post within the week. Anyway, the bite sized version of how I envision their relationship:

I hc Higgs as being immediately attracted to Fragile but not really acting on it, while she develops her attraction after getting to know him a little. Then she's down bad but she doesn't even realize it until it's so obvious it hits her in the face

A few people at their joint Fragile Express/whatever Higgs' operation was called co-op assume they are an item long before anything ever happens, because they just hang out together a lot. They have a similar penchant for corny jokes and puns and enjoy some light banter; Fragile finds Higgs' flair for theatrics endearing, while he is drawn to how gentle she is because he has known so little softness in his life (also he thinks she's insanely pretty, which duh. It's self evident because Léa Seydoux) (it's his first serious girl crush anyway; I hc him as bi and as having had mostly experiences with men before her)

They bond over their DOOMS condition and Higgs is fascinated by Fragile's powers, while she is less enthused by all the collateral effects. In my hc, at this point she has yet to become as skilled at traveling through dimensions as she is in the game, which makes her reluctant to agree to Higgs' requests to show him the Beach. This sows the seeds of his resentment towards her, because he feels she has a privilege she doesn't make use of and doesn't want to share.

They are both pretty touchy feely (canon!) so when their relationship goes from friendly to romantic it gets physical immediately and enthusiastically. Yes even accounting for the worldwide lowered sex drive. If there's one thing I never do is put characters in horny jail 🫡

I think Fragile got to know a version of Higgs that was quite different from what we see in the game, which you sort of can gauge from the more optimistic pages of his diary. Like there's a part of him who's starved for love and connection and a sense of belonging and gravitates towards people like Coffin (he never had a mother) and Fragile herself; ironically, the pull towards Amelie answers to the same need but in reality it feeds on his more nihilistic, call-of-the-void side. I'm not saying that Amelie brainwashed him or anything, but I think she saw what was already there – a deep seated resentment towards a hostile world and towards those he feels got handed a luckier deal than he did, that he countered by clinging to the notion of being special because of his DOOMS, but then there's someone like Fragile who's even more special and doesn't seem to be doing much with it. Amelie gave him a chance to fulfill what he felt was his potential and shared her power with him, but the tradeoff was severing the connections he had, "killing" the part of him that wanted to be loved to make space for what he perceived as a higher form of love ("I found someone who completes me" which he says to Fragile specifically like he wants to rub it in her face? Like she wasn’t enough to fulfill that role?)

That’s why I think it’s significant that he lost his hands with his power-up, because the (holding, welcoming) hands are strongly associated with Fragile; and to me it makes sense if he purposely ruins her body also because it’s a way to stifle his attraction to her. There’s also a lot of projection because HE is the one who’s felt like damaged goods all along, who grew up being crushed psychologically and physically. I also think that both of them coming close to annihilating the other but choosing not to – leaving them in a dicey situation but not entirely without escape – shows in some twisted way that their bond still exists, which makes me giggle and rub my hands like a nasty little goblin knowing we have another game coming.

So… That’s the gist of it. Sorry for rambling on but as I said, I don’t really get the chance to talk about this ship much – greetings from rarepair hell, etc.

Hello I am here with another headcanon dump and some more art! :P I made this lil thing a bit ago to demonstrate my headcanon about how Vexes use illusions to maintain a more mundane-seeming form. When they're stressed things like a blue eye glint, white hair strands, and more ashy skin start to peek through as control over the passive illusion slips. Often in times of intense magic use and combat they just drop it completely cause it's too much of a bother.

The Convex generally prefer their more human appearences out of familiarity but drop it when they want to be intimidating, are exhausted, or having a more quiet intimate moment and feel comfortable showing that form with whoever they're around. (Btw the glowing scar on the chest is where his soul was ripped out. Cub has one too but it's hidden most of the time. :P)

YOU GET IT HEHEH, IT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING, Vexes are magical creatures sure they have some limitations but they're literally MAGIC HELLO? THINK OF THE THINGS THEY COULD DO WITH THAT?

I absolutely adore both this post and the art holy moly, I see their magical stamina as a Stardew Valley kind of energy depletion ; they have a certain amount of magic, it takes time to regenerate the magic, like how blood is regenerated or skin cells - at the start it felt strange to both of them for their magic to regenerate ; like there was something there and moving inside of their very veins. But they got used to it, they also got used to the physical altercations that came with being vexes - sure they looked a bit different, Scar had larger wings than Cub, but Cub had a long tail with a sharp and curved ending - but they understood each other, they were there for each other the whole time, and it took them a long time but they found they could revert back to a more human form!

I see at the start they didn't understand the idea of having a magical barrier and they often overworked themselves to the point they couldn't hold the illusion anymore so they went to one another and waited until they were okay; until they looked like what they imagined to be 'normal'

It hurts a little to change between forms so quickly, it's just like having growing pains though - the body shifting to accompany the new physical showing of their real and true nature ; and only a few hermits actually have seen their true forms sure they know that they're vexes and they sold their soul - but only a certain few know how bad it is - Xisuma already knows being a voidwalker comes with a few perks - but he acted like he didnt know until they came forwards and had to tell him.

They are the worst people to have this kind of power, because they are both known for their over exertion in their builds so most of the time they collapse in their true forms and allow the other to take care of them (obviously with the chastising of self-care that they know that the other would never follow up)

[As for the soul being ripped out YES, I WAS RANTING TO WITHER ABOUT THIS - there are different ways to give a soul ; more ethical ways but vexes they enjoy violence, dominance so instead of being patient and coaxing out the soul in a peaceful and unpainful way, it was simply yanked out of the chest]

❤️ Casanova: I wanted to be a chef for the longest time, but i’m happy with my job as an organ harvester!

💐 Keith: To become a plant biologist.

🕊️ Krow: Umm... I... I-I wanna be in a Jane A-Austen book. As a p-protagonist. N-no matter what... t-they marry happily in t-the end.

🔪 Ezra: Well... I guess... I'm not sure. I've never really thought about it. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I can't imagine my life without Eliana and I don't want to be anywhere without my sugarcube.

🔥 Harper: Ah.. thats a hard one.. If I get powers n shit and I’m not just a normal person maybe Jujutsu Kaisen?... Tbh I play more games than I do watch or read anything haha..

🖥️ Virgil: Hmmmm that’s a tough one… Haha I couldn’t think of anything right now.

🎤 Adam: Death note, the anime. I think I could do a lot better with that notebook than light Yagami did. (Hermit, the creator, rolls their eyes behind the scenes and Adam glaring daggers to Hermit)

🐕 Henry: The Princess Bride! That movie is practically about me + Buttercup.

Interviewer: Im with Harper on this one. JJK so I cant prevent Nanami and Nobara Shibuya Arc huhuhu.

Question No 8 : What are some habits you have? Any strange ones?

❤️ Casanova: I tend to scratch at my braces when i’m trying to focus, often i’d end up chewing on my fingers.

🕊️ Krow: Uhh.... I... bite my h-hands... a lot. It's... a comfort t-thing. S-sometimes my forearms too. I-I guess I also make the same expression a-as to what I'm d-drawing.

🔪 Ezra: When eating food like burgers or sandwiches I eat around the edge and then eat the center last. Um... I also tend to rub things with my fingertips when I don't know what to do with my hands. I'm almost always touching my nails absent-mindedly.

🔥 Harper: I have a habit of scratching my fingertips, especially when I’m nervous… Its kinda a bad habit, sometimes I scratch em a little raw.

💐 Keith: Buttoning and unbuttoning my shirt sleeve when Im bored or nervous.

🎮 Tenebris: Leaving my things all over the bed

🖥️ Virgil: Hmmmm, whenever I play a video game that has levels right? And I messed up one thing, I restart the level. Don’t know why, I just like to go through the levels smoothly. It’s pretty frustrating if you ask me ahaha

🐕 Henry: Hmmm…I have really bad sleeping habits if I’m being honest! I’m lucky if I can get 3 hours of sleep at night. As for strange ones, nope, I’m perfectly normal! (now the interviewer is also shouting LIAR)

Make stuff because it makes you happy. I make Restart Heart because I love my little passion project. I love it so much I get my nails done to match my game and spend most of the day thinking about it. I would still be making Restart Heart if no one played. Make something that you would want to make even if no one saw. Even if you were the only person in the world who loves it, make it because it brings you happiness. Getting back into things I used to be so invested in, like posting my work on social media and the communities I was active in, has been way more difficult than I ever thought it would be.

I miss it a lot, though. All of it.

Sharing my work with others and getting to enjoy theirs. Meeting new people. The conversations, both good and bad. Being involved in projects, like Zines and other collabs. The Discord servers, with all the fun little things like streaming, VCs and watching things together. The creativity and inspiration that comes with being involved in fandom communities. Bringing other peoples visions to life through things like commissions and requests.

A lot of my difficulties the past two years have come from things like my mental and physical health. I've been in hospitals (illnesses/injuries, surgeries and to protect myself from myself). Lost two jobs and my independence. Had to shut down my Etsy store and lost my entire small business (Damn you Crunchyroll, and your stupid IP Bots u_u). I've had a never ending art block and, all in all, I feel like I've lost everything that I was.

My biggest regret is losing all the friends that I had made. I can't blame my health for all of that, though. I made a stupid choice to follow the wrong person and that was the moment I lost a huge chunk of the community and people I had grown so fond of. By now, I've lost literally everyone I met through tumblr, twitter (or X, whatever it is now), and other places. But not just from how I had walked away back then. I had apologized to those I had hurt. I want to come back, to reconnect and try to return to what things were like before, but I can't get over this shame, embarrassment and regret I feel.

I don't really know what this whole speech or rant is, tbh. I've just been missing it all a lot lately. The creativity, inspiration, community... my friends I had made.

All of it.

I've said this over and over again for the past two years, but... maybe soon I'll try and come back again. All I've done consistently is some writing on Ao3 (TikTok I did for a good while, but it's been dead for a year now, too). I actually have a Bakugou x Fem!Reader fic going on right now, Senioritis, and for anyone who had been following it forever ago, I finished Ancient Soul.

I've also kinda gotten sucked into a new series with another fluffy-headed grumpy yet wholesome character that's been fighting with Bakugou for my attention.

not to put on my CR goggles for your general post about canon/fanon but I think this part of why it rubs me the wrong way when people decide that fanon-agreed-upon features are real and better than the official art. I appreciate creative takes but when people start to pushback against the official designs it feels off because it's not like these characters were market-tested or overdesigned within an inch of their life. The cast was like "hey here's some guy i made and want to play for 3+ years"

Hey anon!

Honestly I didn't have fanon physical depictions in mind here, though obviously I've voiced my distaste with several of those (and kept quiet on several more I also dislike). Honestly, what actually irritates me the most is a combination of 1. none of you have ever been to a lifting gym OR a library, huh and 2. the sameness of it all. Like, if there were a diversity of canon digressions from how a character were depicted, I can't promise I'd be into it but at least it would be visually interesting, but what gets me is that it's always like, the same exact digressions, and so the argument that it's creative or whatever has never held weight. It's still copying someone else's idea; people just act like it's better because it's one removed from the actual originator of the character.

But if you don't mind me jumping off from this point, I really do think this is the problem: the takes aren't creative. Not that creativity can't be drawn from your own life - obviously it can - but I happen to think that if you see a character who is deeply drawn from someone else's life and say "how can I make them more like me" then that's not terribly creative. I mean, write what you know, but maybe make an effort to know things. Read what you don't know.

I keep sort of hinting at this but it feels like some people don't actually want their headcanons or ships to be canon, because there's this smug sense of combined superiority and victimhood if they can point at canon and say "they were cowards, and I could have done it better." But they also don't like those headcanons or ships to be explicitly noncanon. Anyway this is why I think a lot of people who got mad at Critical Role re: both character depictions and ships said "anyway, stan NADDPod"; the depictions and the ships of NADDPod have for the most part been kept relatively vague. And to be clear, I love NADDPod, but like, I think there's a subset of people in fandom who want to feel virtuous and smart for headcanoning characters to tick off certain boxes instead of seeking out works with explicit representation because then they, the fans, can take credit. They want the ship to be vague so that people who don't ship it aren't right, but they aren't wrong.

Like, I do enjoy creative takes, and transformative works, and I like people exploring what-ifs and alternate possibilities, but the people who do that in the most interesting way, in my opinion, are typically people who love the canon and want to play with it, rather than people who are interested in winning some kind of competition on who has the best and most correct thoughts, because the latter group must by necessity disregard canon lest they concede victory to the creators.

OMG.... THANK U FOR ASKING AAAH 🥺🥺🥺 so im going to answer this for the 2 OCs i drew and posted most recently... these guys...

FIRST OF ALL want to start off w a disclaimer that I'm going to talk abt them as if it's like. a story or webtoon or webnovel that im going to make but in reality i think theres a slim chance of me making that a reality even tho i rly want to TT but its still fun to think abt/develop them...

This OC story has a main 4 (2 guys and 2 girls); there's a 💙girl, 💚guy (the 2 protagonists) and ❤️girl and 💜guy (on the opposing/"antagonist" side). This story is actually based off a dream I had back in 2018 LMAO but my subconscious just gave me the very basic concept/vibes (like a prompt basically) and i had to flesh it out from there... also only 3/4 showed up in the dream, the 💜guy I had to make from scratch and he went thru the most changes(+all r still being developed)

-what kind of world do they live in?

So in this universe there's a power system/a small percent of the population has powers... I've just been generically calling them "psychic powers/espers" like in mp100 (超能力/초능력, lit: superpowers) bc i dont have a name for them like "nen" or anything... I'm not going to go into detail of how it works yet but I think it does share some similarities w mp100 (like how some r born w it and others can awaken it thru stress)... Anyway, both 💚 and 💜 are very strong psychics(aka have strong power)... I think all 4 of the main charas have some powers, or at least 3/4 (💙 is also a very strong psychic.) Other than that I guess it takes place in modern day Korea..? Except... I may be Korean American but I know very little about actual Korea/have never lived there, so if I was ever to make this story a reality(again prob neverㅠ), I'd have to do a lot of research and/or have a Korean writing partner/consultant...

💚guy... His name is Hyojun (lastname tbd) and he's the son of a rly rich family (3/4 mcs are from rich familys...def influenced by ouran smhdsj). Even tho he's from rich society, he doesn't really look or act like it (he's handsome, but has a rough/rowdy look), and really detests this environment and most of the people; finds them suffocating, obnoxious, scummy, Fake, etc. He has a rebellious personality, hates rules and values freedom... He's also really good at and enjoys fighting/sparring. He is a powerful psychic and is also physically strong (knows martial arts + how to fight). (yyh yusuke is def one of his influences heh..) The "hyo" in his name means filial piety/duty... basically a name given with the hope that he'd be an obedient and dutiful son...

His color motif is green💚 and his animal motif is snake🐍 (secondary motif: lizards in general). He's one of the 2 protagonists!! (The other is the 💙girl)

I like the idea of one of the protags having an atypical animal motif that's often associated with evil (or being slimy/conniving etc) like a snake... tried to incorporate this subtly into his design too (slit pupils + cute fang(s)... the fangs give him a cat/dogboy look but it's actually bc snake motif😙)

💜🦋: I kind of designed him to be a foil to hyojun and contrast him in many ways... He's one of the main "antagonists" of the story! (in that he's on the side opposing the "protagonists"... not that he's necessarily "evil"...) He's the heir to a very rich & powerful family, and Unlike the rough and rebellious Hyojun, he's refined, elegant, reserved, calm, polite and gentle. His design is made to look very soft in contrast to Hyojun's sharp edges (literally designed him to contrast hyojun in as many ways as possible lmao🫣). He's also a powerful psychic. He and his family are involved in some shady business behind the scenes... He usually seems kind and gentle, but he's hiding a lot of things behind his smile... He and Hyojun may be opposites in terms of personality, but they may have more similarities than they seem. 👀 I'm being vague but KDJSKDN basically know that he's the smiley faker type... like Clotted Cream Cookie... (clotted actually matched so many of the ideas i had for this OC which I think is 1 reason why I got so attached to him when he came out bdkbdn... his lore is diff but his personality/vibes r p similar + both have parental issues/trauma...)

His color motif is purple💜 (+yellow) and his motif is butterfly🦋!! (/moths? +insects in general) I really love this motif for him bc butterflies have an image of being docile, fragile, gentle and pretty... I love the trope of villains/antagonists with aesthetics/motifs that are soft/pretty/unassuming and atypical of villains... Just like w hyojun having a 🐍 motif as a protagonist... But I also love the butterfly motif because besides being pretty, as insects, there's a somewhat creepy/horror element to them too? I think the duality of butterflies suits the duality of his chara perfectly... And I tried to incorporate the motif into his design thru his spotted eyes... They're normally light on dark and look like sparkly eyeshines, but the colors invert when he's using his powers and become dark spots on light, inspired by spotted butterfly eyes (u can google "butterfly eyes"), creating an entirely different vibe + invoking slight trypophobia (but in the latest/final iteration of his design I simplified the spots to just 3 as to not go overboard)

(Btw I actually wanted all the psychic charas eyes to look diff when using their powers as a cool visual indicator... 💜's are prob the coolest atm but Hyojun💚's eyes also change/invert; they go from black w a light green slit pupil to green with a black slit pupil)

If I had to describe it, it'd be like a mix of a shounen/action genre piece (action scenes, fighting, facing an evil org, superpowers etc) and at the same time play heavily off of/include a lot of elements/tropes of the shoujo/romance genre??? This won't make sense without more context but... there'd be a lot of insp from/playing off of (and subverting) tropes from shoujo romance manga/webtoons... while at the same time blending it with the action genre... The goal is to draw heavily from both and take these tropes and mash and twist them up and create something new and really fun (and hopefully funny... I def want it to be a comedy kdhfj. But also I want it to include well rounded characters with deep and angsty backstories and relationships... def a lot of overcoming trauma...) Even the makeup of the main 4 mirrors the main character tropes of both the action/shounen and romance/shoujo genres... there's 4 main charas, mirroring the main 4 of some of my fav shounens (mainly YYH and HxH), but they're also evenly split in terms of gender, 2 guys and 2 girls, which mirrors the main cast formula of the romance genre (ex: female lead, male lead, sub male lead, sub female lead/rival)... It's definitely going to have a strong theme of friendship/found family/platonic bonds (as is typical of shounen genre) bc I eat that sht up... It wouldn't be classified as a "romance", but that doesn't mean it won't have romance... just not in the direction one might expect... Idk how much I should say but it'd be sooo hetbait dkbfdjd I love the idea so much... (hetbait but actually gay kshdjdh)

Anyway I want to make a story that'd have readers (like the webtoon commenters i see) confused about what genre it is lmaoo... like is this supposed to be action or romance... and also be like who am i supposed to ship... KFJSKJ (i have my own ships but it'd be fun to see who ppl would ship during the course of it... ppl liking diff ship dynamics... fantasizes abt it being a real thing even tho it prob wont happen lmao)

I need to draw updated art of 💙girl and ❤️girl..!! In the meantime here's some older art of 💙girl(2021-2022) that I apparently never posted... my pookie she is everything to me mfbdn Her name is Seol!

And here's some even older art (2018-2019)!! I've had these charas since 2018 (well... 💜 didnt exist back then... conceptualized in 2019) but I only drew/developed them once in a blue moon bc i usually just draw fanart of my hyperfixations🥹... sorry for neglecting u, ocs...

edit: I realized I forgot a very important piece of info... ages MCNDNB Hyojun and Seol are both 20 (at least for now? it could change) and 💜guy(NEED TO NAME HIM SOON FR) is like 1-2 yrs older. hmm... when i first made them they were my age but now theyre younger lmaoo. Maybe I'll age them up or not but they're all over 18 at least

I made a zine!

A couple of zines, actually, but I wanted to make a separate post about the Ironwood/Ironqrow one so that I can put it in the fandom tags. I've been wanting to collect all the self-indulgent art I've made over the last few years into a themed zine for a while now, and I figured a new year was a good time to try out a new endeavour.

Currently, Tin Heart: An Ironwood and IronQrow Zine (along with two sketchbooks zines) is available in digital format on my brand new Gumroad page, and I'd be so grateful if you considered checking it out! You can find it [here]

I'm also planning to get physical zines printed, hopefully before the end of the month, so that I can sell those on my convention stall and in my online shop, but with the international postage disruptions in the UK right now I figured starting with digital versions was the way to go.

Hi I read about your stories and they're really really good. Apologis it took me a while to send you this. I particularly enjoyed reading your 'in another life' prompts. I'm a sucker for angst. But angst that ends with fluff and happiness, idk, it just makes all the angst worth it if there's a happy ending. Anyway, I've been rambling - back to the request. Can I ask for a Shinobu one? I recently read a poem and I think it really suits her and someone she cares for. It goes like this... "I was angry at the world for a while. It seemed cruel that one moment a person could be here and the next one they become a memory. It seemed wrong, that you we'ren't an exception. But after time, I began noticing you in the crimson hues of a sunset and the stillness of the stars. And I realised that though I may not know where you went, you will never truly be very far" What do you think?

Aww thank you so, so much! I’m actually considering doing an “In Another Life” angsty prompt for Shinobu in the future, but thanks to holyeaglefanlawyer’s request for a continuation for Rengoku’s (ah my heart, I’m so excited for it)— I think I’ll end up turning all of the In Another Life prompts into a trilogy for happy endings in the modern world. Admittedly, I really am not sure why so many of my stories lately have been angst. Maybe I’m going through a phase, but I solemnly swear to post some hurt/comfort and fluff soon.

This poem is beautiful, and you are completely right! It very much suits Shinobu! I’ll have to use it as inspiration for her In Another Life prompt, or at least catch the vibe of it (I really love it!) --- but until I’ve completed my to-list, here is a small scribble drabble. I went with gn!reader (I’m sorry I didn’t see a preference), and used the poem as inspo.

Summary: a love that Shinobu had not intended (or welcomed), nurtured under comforting walks beneath the stars, whispers affections and devotions, and reminds her to live the life, her sister prayed for.

She had been shocked upon the news. The bellowing of a familiar Kasugai crow’s mournful craw into the break of sunrise. The small flicker of a butterfly ribbon caught between its talons, shattering the reality as Shinobu had known it. As though her heart had been strapped to a boulder that had been sentenced to the bottom of the ocean, weighed down with a grief that succumbed to duties. Responsibilities of the deceased to claim as her own, burdens to shoulder from those younger than her, Shinobu had banished her tears from existence. Rage to hinge in a way that she could not appropriately express, nor explain to another. A lump in her throat she had lamented, accepted that it would not part from her. A raise in rank that met with no pride in her station, the Insect Breather promoted merely to fill the vacancy her sister’s loss had posed on the Demon Slayer Corps. In those days, she had been drowned by duties. Left to wander an aimless void of commitments, task to be completed. To fill the role of expectations, struggled against the anguish of her heart, busied herself with well-practiced hands. Prioritized her position upon the Butterfly Mansion over her own care, forced herself to weave bandages over abrasions. Alleviate the physical affliction of others, wounds braised against their flesh. At times marred by blood, and debris. Other times, elemental aspects evidence left in the wake of battle, shards of glass, seared flesh, tainted essences, poison-induced fevers, for every blood art there was a unique aspect. Each infliction requiring its own individualized care, though she had never complained of such a duty. They were real in a sense that emotional and mental trauma could not be grazed upon. Sutras weaved of the appropriate needle and thread to piece back the gaps of flesh, and casting over broken bones, the Insect Hashira preferred it this way. To tend to the physical traumas of the body, was in a way the perfect escape from her realities. For it was in those quiet moments, left to dry Aoi’s tears, contained under Kanao’s stares, or in the rare moments of her own company, that her mind would wander. That rage would claim her, whisper obscenities. Dilute her reality, lead her a stray. Her rage often guiding her to incorrigible horrors. To string him up. To lace him with poisons, all potent and lethal. To rob him of his senses, of his abilities. To have him beg for mercy in the waning hours of the night, only to provide him antidote under the lure of false redemption, just to plunge toxins into his veins once more. Yes, it was in moments of stillness that Kocho felt reality slip through her fingers. Contaminate her essence, drag her to a variety of scenarios, each more lethal than the next. If only to seize the moment in which her sister’s murder would taste her blinded wrath.

Though, Shinobu would not often be awarded this divulgence. In such faint moments of light that swayed her to a path she would never return from, she had found that you had a bothersome way of appearing at such opportune moments. A recent addition to the Butterfly Estate, retired from the line of active duty after a blow from a demon had robbed you of not only your peripheral vision, but your spatial awareness as well. An old friend from her sister’s past to haunt her, to mock her existence. She had truly viewed your arrival to the estate as a punishment for her murderous thoughts, to remind her of the ghost of her sister. The smile of warmth you exhibited despite her insistence that while your wounds would leave you useless on the battlefield, it did not mean that there was not a life waiting for you outside of retirement—a partner, a family, a home, something to return to.

Yet, still you remained through the passing months. Faithful as a dog that laid at its master’s feet. As gentle as her sister, delicate in the way you would knock at her door at the most inopportune times. To offer her snack, or share a pecular rock you had discovered in the gardens. Distracting her from her vengeance, guiding her back onto the trail her sister had prayed for her. Small raps at the frame of her door, warmly requesting her company in the night. Strolls beneath the stars, sharing memories of the old days. Memories of all she had once had, all that they could ever be. Just memories. Bridging the question. Wishes for the future. Embrace her rage, accept her aversion to promises of a life to come should either of your duties no longer exist. Pretend as though there would be a day in which demons did not scourge humanity.

Playful banter over meals, passing her candy in moments of fatigue. Secret smiles, and hushed praise in passing between patients. The light giggle you would gift her when she allowed herself to scold a mizunoto further than expected, the mask she bore momentarily slipped from her features. Revealing the woman she once was, the woman you had quietly adored over the years. Comforted by the flower you had selected from the Estate Garden, tucked between the pages of a medical book to brighten her day. Your faithfulness to her, anchoring her to a path her sister had desperately longed for, allowing the Insect Hashira brief moments of grief that had grown to new meaning. Caught her tears that fell. Missions that led her away for duties, just as quick to return her. The home she had dreaded returning to in the days following her loss, once lively again. Warmed by the sound of laughter, lights lit in the night awaiting her safe return. A symbol of your devotion, as quiet and resolved as the moon. Forever casting a light upon her path, and welcomed her home in the dead of night to an embrace beneath the stars. Her head tucked into your shoulder beneath the veranda. The silence of the dark no longer an affliction, but rather a comforting caress at the nook of your neck. The support of your arm at her waste, the snug of your cheek pressed against her head, and the comfort of your scent lingering amongst her flesh. Hushing the obscenities of nightmares, easing her burdens, and quieting her fears, snuggled against her as her eyelashes grew far too heavy to endure. Your fingers intertwined with her own as you hummed her softly to sleep.

Anchoring her to the world beneath the stars, of treasured memories, and a future worth longing. Your love always lit despite how far she had traveled from your reach, to guide her home. To herself. To you.

I don't know how I got here, but I ended up with something that sounds like "Fix You" by Coldplay.
