this is from Many years ago but I found it while, again, looking for something completely unrelated, so why not reblog. I think it holds up for being a slapdash little AU dare. (this is also from the days when tumblr decided it didn't like outgoing links, so here's the AO3 link, just for convenience's sake.) (and ykw here's the other fic mentioned, "worth the wear of winning", just for kicks)
So @malaloba challenged me aaaaages ago to write a soulmate AU, and I kind of did with “worth the wear of winning” but it still felt a little bit like cheating. Then I found this in a notebook while looking for something entirely different and I figured I’d clean it up to post. So here it is!

I've wanted to draw the walking mushroom from dungeon meshi/delicious in dungeon ever since I saw the critter (particularly the little version in the netflix bumper) so I decided to. at 4 am. for the first time.
There's a progress video & unwatermarked version for members on Patreon if you want to watch me struggle with the concept of legs. I'll come back in six months and do an "after", we'll see where that lands.

More specifically, I exist as a person with a Patreon! Just trying something out while we try to get through The Everything.
