Imagine?? Two fics in one day????? Wow, the things that can happen when there’s something called motivation.
Pairing(s): Phil Coulson x Reader
Warnings: baker!reader, reader owns a bakery with her best friend. Y/B/F/N is “Your Best Friend’s Name”. fluffy reader and phil. reader essentially bribes steve into letting phil off work early by promising to make him and bucky cake. it’s shorter than a lot of what i write, but it’s cool. holy shit, this is so fucking fluffy. i actually don’t even know if i did swear in this, but it’s a standing warning.

Summary: For Phil’s birthday, you decide you want to spend some time with your husband, so you make a phone call, and voila, dinner and dessert for two at home.
It was almost your husband, Phil Coulson’s birthday, and he had been so busy at SHIELD, that you had barely seen him in a week. You knew how he got at this time of year, always having hated his birthday, but having paid attention to Captain Rogers’ every year. Especially after he was found in the ice, the two of them were actually quite close.
Knowing that you may not even see Phil on his birthday, you decided not to make dinner reservations, but you did make a call to Captain Rogers, or Steve (as he insisted you call him), to tell him that it was Phil’s birthday, and that you would really appreciate it if you could see him today.

“Hello?” Steve asked, answering the phone. “Who is this?”
“Hi, Captain Rogers. I’m Y/N Coulson, Phil’s wife-” You started.
“Phil has a wife?” He asked incredulously.
“Yes, he does. I know he doesn’t talk about me for good reason, he doesn’t want me to be a target if anything were to happen. What he’s also not going to tell you is that today is his birthday. Please don’t make a big deal over it, but it would be really nice if he could be home tonight, at least just so I can see him?” You requested, hoping Phil wasn’t just avoiding his birthday like usual.
“Of course, Mrs. Coulson, the Captain's orders will be to go home and spend some quality time with his wife.”
“Thank you, Captain. And please, call me Y/N.”
“I will call you Y/N only if you call me Steve. And I promise that Phil will be home tonight. If he won’t leave, I’ll put him on a week’s suspension so that he’ll finally go home and rest.”
You laughed, knowing how much of a workaholic Phil was, even if he never wanted to tell you what was really happening other than what you saw on the news. “Thank you, Steve. Really, and happy belated birthday, by the way. I made the cake that Phil brought in for you.”
“Sounds like I should be the one thanking you, Y/N, that cake was delicious, Bucky and I are still trying to save it.”
“No, please, enjoy it. I’ll hand deliver more cake anytime you want. I own the bakery just down the street from SHIELD headquarters, but don’t tell Phil I told you that.”
Steve chuckled, not wanting to take you up on your offer, always the gentleman. “Have you ever made a cake with plums in it?”
“I have.”
“Would you mind dropping one off next week? Plums are Bucky’s favourite.”
“Anything for Captain America and the former Winter Soldier, or Steve and Bucky.”
“Thank you, Y/N. I’ll speak to Phil.”
“Thank you Steve.” You said, hanging up.

You had gotten a text later from Steve saying that Phil had agreed to leave early so that the two of you would actually get to spend some time together. So, naturally, you decided to leave your bakery in the capable hands of your second-in-command and best friend, to go home early and make a lovely birthday dinner for your husband. Of course, planning to make his favourite dinner with his favourite wine, followed by his favourite flavour of cake with his favourite icing, and to top the night off, it will probably be more wine, followed by a sloppy makeout session, and cuddles in bed while the two of you talk until you fall asleep. If you’re lucky, you’ll wake up in the morning and he won’t have left for work yet, but you haven’t had one of those mornings in a very long time.

“Honey, I’m home- Did you make my favourite?” Phil asked, walking in on you icing his cake while you were keeping dinner warm in the oven.
“Favourite dinner is in the oven, favourite wine is chilling in the fridge, favourite cake with favourite icing on top, and your favourite person in your favourite dress. Happy birthday, honey.”
“Thank you, sweetheart. And I’m sorry I haven’t been here much over the past couple of weeks. You know how work gets this time of year.”
“I do. And I know how you feel about your birthday. That’s why there’s no fancy dinner reservations, just you and me, and we don’t even have to sit at the kitchen table if you don’t want to. We can sit on the couch with our dinner and wine, I can serve the cake up after, and then I can get you all soapy in the shower because I know how much you love it when I wash your hair for you.”
Phil looked at you like the embodiment of the heart-eyed emoji, visibly softening after his day. “I’m sorry I’m not here, honey. I am. Thank you for doing all of this for me.”
“It’s okay, Phil. I told you when I married you that I was okay with you working long hours because I do too.”
Phil pulled the wine out of the fridge, poured you each a glass, and sat down at the set table, waiting for you to sit with him, knowing that if he tried to pull dinner out of the oven, you’d smack him upside the head with your oven mitts. “So did you close up early today then?”
You placed dinner on the table between the two of you, motioning for Phil to grab a serving. “Left it with Y/B/F/N, she’s perfectly capable without me supervising. Also, if I were to drop something off for Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes, where would I go for that?”
“You’d take it up to their floor of Stark Tower, since that’s where SHIELD is operating from. Why do you ask?”
“Steve and I now have a standing deal that I’ll make him and Bucky cake whenever they want so they won’t have to ration it out like they currently are with Steve’s birthday cake from earlier this week. Bucky likes plums, so Steve would like a plum cake next week as a surprise.”
“And what do you get in exchange for this?”
You chuckled, taking a sip of your wine. “I’m sure, the two of them being 40s gentlemen, will insist on paying me. I won’t charge them full-price though, and my only request will be that I get to spend some time with my lovely husband occasionally.”

After dinner, you were right. You and Phil had cake, where you insisted on singing Happy Birthday to him before he blew out the candles and told him to make a wish. The two of you started watching a shitty romcom on the TV before deciding to have a slightly tipsy sloppy makeout session. Then, you washed his hair for him in the shower, and the two of you talked in bed until you eventually fell asleep curled up to his side.
In the morning, you woke up to find yourself still curled up to Phil, despite the fact that it was later in the morning and his alarm surely should’ve gone off by now. Looking around dazed, you vaguely wondered if he had died in his sleep and that was why he hadn’t gone to work. But he was still warm, you could still hear his heart beating, and his chest was still rising and falling under your head.
“I called in sick today and texted Y/B/F/N that you weren’t coming in either. You’re right, honey. We do need to spend time together instead of always working. We got married because we love each other, not because we wanted the benefits of being married in New York.” Phil told you, planting a kiss on the top of your head.
“Can we stay in bed a little longer?” You mumbled. “I’m tired.”
“We were up late last night talking, you can go back to sleep, honey. I’ll be here when you wake up.” He told you, softly stroking your cheek until your breath evened out listening to the sound of his heartbeat.

how and why is there discourse about whether or not certain queer identities exist/if people should be allowed(???) to use them. why is "people know their own identity better than you ever could, and they're the only one who get a say on what they are" such a tough concept to grasp
i think if you find yourself offended by the label someone uses (especially if they're a stranger) or think it invalidates your own, it's a good idea to look inside yourself and question why that may be. more often than not, it's a result of insecurity or uncertainty of your own identity (or many other things, but i won't make a whole list here). whatever reason it is, until you resolve it, you shouldn't take it out on people for having an identity you don't understand
many have said it before but it's worth saying over and over. infighting only helps our oppressors. conservatives don't care if you're a cis gay or a xenogender aegosexual aplatonic lesbian, they hate all of us either way. trying to fit in by going for people who are easier targets for them isn't gonna help you, it'll just alienate you from your own community, and you're never gonna please them. the momentary rush you get from hearing you're not like "one of /those/ gay people" is not worth it and is gonna do more harm in the long run, i assure you
also, it is important to me to say this, but having some less than nice kneejerk reaction caused by confusion about an identity you don't understand doesn't mean you're a bad person or anything. as long as you aren't mean to that person, and you take a second to think smth along the lines of "wait a minute, this isn't any of my business" after having said reaction, you're good 👍 a lot of reflexive reactions we have to things are ingrained into us simply by. well. living in a society 🤡 and you're not terrible for having those thoughts. it's your actions that matter, and your second thought (the "wait, why did i just think that?") is more defining of your actual character and morals than your reflex. i know that having thoughts like this, even tho they're unwanted, can very easily make one spiral, so it's important to me that whoever needs to hear this knows this doesn't make you a bad person 🙏 you're good, keep taking actions to be good, accept other people even if you don't understand them, and you're on the right track :)

#methinks it is time to chew the walls in my enclosure#rambling#im very bad at sleeping alone and i dont even know how many nights shes gonna be gone :(#if she told me before then i forgot it but last night i tried to ask her and she just jokingly said she was never coming back#but then didnt give me the actual answer afterwards#i texted her this morning to ask but shes been so busy setting up her show that she hasnt had time to respond ig :(#i have class in less than five hours but I've been up this whole time stress cleaning 😭#i wish i could have someone over but my qpp has her sun this week and has to get up to take him to preschool and go to work really early#like the same time in usually falling asleep#and my other qpp and friends live two hours away :(#i just don't like being alone at night my brain gets bad :(#before my gf moved in with me i would have sleepovers with my friends as often as possible specially because of that#it made me feel safe and distracted me from the bad thoughts and helped me sleep better#there was a while where my qpp was staying the night with me literally almost every night#i haven't had to worry about sleeping alone for the past 3+ years that my gf and i have lived together#maybe i SHOULD chew wires to cope#edit: there are so many typos but I'm not retyping all of those tags im too tired for this#I'm gonna try to go to sleep now

Anyone else feeling absolutely unhinged this fine Sunday evening? Or is it just me
#hhhhhh absolutely has been A DAY#this is a very familiar feeling I just haven't been able to name it yet and I don't know how to counteract it#distractions aren't really working and that's sort of my go to can I just explode instead????#my church voted this morning not to leave the UMC over the issue of human sexuality#well actually it was more of a vote to see if we even needed a vote only one person voted leave (lmao) so we don't need another vote#been dreading that for a while so it's nice to have that resolved I mean I knew it was going to go this way but you know#our church tends to be tight lipped over politics so it was a welcome surprise to hear a few people voice their support for lgbtq#even though we weren't supposed to actually be talking about that anyway that was heartening#this whole thing isn't really over though not until the general conference meets in 2024 not much I can do until then though but wait#and honestly I'm probably going to end up leaving the UMC anyway#because I really would rather be in a church that is explicitly queer affirming but we'll just wait and see what 2024 brings#ANYWAY the BAD news is I got to hear my brother say that gay people are fine and all#but that the bible explicitly condemns homosexual relationships#and then in his typical manner tried to ignore my requests to not talk about this topic while I was trapped in a car with him#but I was defended by my mom and my sister#who have GOT to suspect I'm gay at this point there's no way they don't lmao#so that's great me and him are moving in complete opposite directions#and THEN i went grocery shopping with my mom and it was busy and I was tired and I had been wearing my binder too long#so I think the whole day just led to a bit of an overload#I think I'm just going to take some melatonin and try to sleep I'm done good lord sorry for the tag rant#👍👍👍👍👍 everything's fine goodnight

Adam x f!reader - After a Shitty Meeting with the Blond Short-Stack
To put it bluntly, Adam had had a particularly shitty day, and that was saying a lot considering there were absolutely no bad days in heaven. This day, however, had seemed to drag on for an eternity, and by the end of it he felt like punching a whole through every window that he walked past on his way home from work, having to walk instead of fly because he was too furious to trust his wings not to give out on him if he became too lost in thought.
To summarise, he had had to meet Lucifer today, the pompous, prideful, wife-stealing piece of short-blonde-shit that lorded about Hell as if he wasn’t banished there purposefully for his sins. The meeting wasn’t in person, with him attending from Heaven and Lucifer attending from Hell, but simply being within any sort of presence of the blond gnome had his blood boiling and his fingers itching to grab the nearest weapon and shove it through his chest. And today, well, Lucifer had gone too far.
Sure, Adam may have started it with some comment about Lucifer’s daughters failing redemption-business, and how the timer was ticking until the upcoming extermination, but really, who was Lucifer to dare let your name spill from his lips? In a mockery of your and Adam’s relationship no less.
That self-entitled little shit-eating smirk had graced Lucifer’s ridiculously rosy cheeks, and he had dared insinuate he could steal you right from under Adam’s nose the next time you went down to Hell, just like his two previous wives. He was thankful for his mask which had concealed the utter shock-horror that had overtaken his features at the insult, but he also wished Lucifer would have seen his absolute unbridled hatred once he had rebounded from the insult: if looks could have killed, Lucifer would have been incinerated on the spot. The comment had riled Adam up so much that Lute had had to step in to steer the meeting back on track, and it had taken all of his self-control, and Lute’s, to stop him from immediately teleporting down to Hell and blasting Lucifer to whatever the fuck came after Hell. He grumbles to himself angrily, hand rubbing at his temples as he finally reaches his front door. God, he just wanted to have a drink and go to bed, where hopefully he would dream about murdering Lucifer and lording it up with you above his grave. Maybe you guys could make out right next to his grave, that would really prove a point.
He slams the front door shut harsher than he should have, and immediately storms through the house, desperate to just see you in one of the rooms – he’d even break into the bathroom even if you were mid-shit if he had to, he just had to see you.
“Babe?” He calls, wings tucked tightly against his back as he prowls the corridor, poking his masked head into each room he came across, finally relaxing when he saw you relaxing with a book curled up in the loveseat in the living room.
“Adam!” You grin over at him, and the tension in his shoulders shifts at the sight, releasing a tight breath as you perk up as he approaches, tucking your bookmark back into place and waiting for him expectantly. Of course you would be here, he reprimands himself, furious that Lucifer could get to him in such a way; where else would you be? “How was your day? You had that meeting right? Did it go well?” You rapid-fire your questions, and you suddenly frown as he approaches. “You’ve still got your mask on, it didn’t go well.”
“Yes, hello sugar, it’s nice to see you too, damn.” He mutters, frustrated at himself for being so easy to read, and frustrated at you for reading him so easily, finally coming to a stop before you. “Can’t a man just wear his cool-ass mask? I just forgot, okay?”
“You can do anything you please, I’m just worried.” You look up at him sympathetically, and he immediately knew his tough-guy act was immediately lost on you. Who was he kidding? Today had been particularly shit, and he just wanted to be with you. You're folding clothes into a suitcase in preparation for a business trip to Okinawa when your husband comes into the bedroom.
He lingers behind you with a solemn expression, hair brushing the top of the doorframe. If there's one thing he hates most, it's your business trips to Okinawa, because he can't ever tag along (and he's tried. He's clung to your leg at the airport before.)
It's just two days.
But those two days are two days too long for him. He watches you serenely packing your suitcase for a little while longer, his lips skewed into a sad curve, and then does what he always does when he's upset and slowly embraces your from behind.
"Angel." you jump a little. This man is as quiet and stealthy as a cat when he's sad. That's already a telling sign that he's upset — silence. Gojo Satoru is hardly a quiet man, especially around his wife.
"What's the matter?" you ask softly, still nimbly folding clothes with your hands. His arms vine around your tummy and he lowers his face to rest on your shoulder.
"Nothin'." he lies very unconvincingly. You can hear the lack of liveliness in his voice.
You turn around in his embrace. Lips still stuck in a sad curve, he looks down at you like a lost puppy. A tall, lanky, moody puppy of a man.
"C'mere." you beckon for him to lower himself into a kiss. He listens and when he feels the press of your lips, he melts like butter.
He licks his lips savoringly after you pull your face away. Feeling your hands cupping his cheeks is just what he needed right now.
"It's only for two days, Satoru. You're so dramatic." you tease.
He groans, "Two! Whole! Days! It annoys me. I wanna go with you so bad."
You tilt your head at him adoringly. Folding and packing has completely ceased, now you're giving full attention to your pouty husband and that makes him happy. He's relishing in it, bathing in the way you look at him with so much love.
"You know you can call me, right?" you tell him, calming his twittering nerves with each soothing touch across his shoulders and arms.
"But I want more than that. I want you right here." he groans and then does the most Gojo thing possible and purposefully topples his weight on you so you're pinned to the bed underneath him.
"S'toru, can't b-reathe!" you giggle shortly, feeling his body press to yours.
"I'm staying like this 'till the plane leaves 'n then you'll have to stay."
"You're ridiculous."
He smirks into your neck. "Call Nanami and tell him he's just gonna have to do all the work himself."
You laugh. Your husband rolls off to the side, realizing he's very slightly crushing you.
"So jealous." you remark. Gojo flares up defensively.
"I'm not jealous! — okay, a little — you know what yes! I am jealous! So fucking jealous."
You laugh again. He's furrowing his brows, clinging to your body like he does when he prepares to nap. A very cat-like posture. And then he paws for your attention.
"How did I marry such a damn goof." you tease.
"You married me because I'm a goof." he muttered.
"True. That was one of the first reasons I crushed on you."
His ears perked up. You'd began stroking your fingers through his hair, and he was relaxing against your body just soaking up the affection. "Oh really?" he smirks. "What were the other reasons, tell me."
You have to roll your eyes. He pesters you until you start telling him the long, long list of reasons why you fell in love with him. Gojo's smiling into your skin, happily listening and dozing off.
"Angel? Did you fall asleep? Of course you did." you sigh, looking at your half-filled suitcase and the clock; your plane was going to depart in an hour.
