Mando'a is for Lovers, Part 1
So, you want to write a Mando romance? (Sure, we all do!) And you think conlangs are Neat and want to include Mando'a for some flavor? I cannot blame you, friend! They ARE neat! But you're getting kind of stuck because Mando'a seems to be like 80% made up of military or weapon terms and/or insults?
I AM HERE TO HELP.
But I'm gonna have to do it in multiple posts because um. I might have a lot to say and am really kind of a language nerd as it turns out.
SO this one will JUST be some helpful hints for specific words and phrases that could be useful in trying to write Mandos being lovers not fighters (at least at the time.)
Please let me know if you'd like me to write more of these (grammar basics, handy hints, translation help etc.) or to expand on any points, me and my ADHD hyperfocus would LOVE TO HELP.
(Note: I use mainly Mando'a from mandocreator.com because I like their online tools the best. A "dialect" of Mando'a is basically "one particular conlang hobby group that has made up some words that don't exist in the official sources." Other Mando'a dialects are available.)
Anyway, so, first thing:
You can't just write an English sentence, look up each word in a Mando'a dictionary, and then string those words together. Translation doesn't work like that. What you get will almost always make no sense - like those things you see when someone runs a sentence through Google Translate a couple times and then puts it back to English. This is doubly true because Mando'a was created to give flavor to books and video games and doesn't have anywhere near a complete dictionary, so a lot of the time you won't even be able to FIND the word you want.
This is how you get characters calling someone "my to hold in the heart forever."
There are many conlang nerds (myself included) who would happily help you figure out ways to say what you want to say, but for a shortcut:
Look below the cut for help with terms for: love and marriage, beauty/hotness, pet names, and compliments. Bonus: some vocabulary for getting frisky.
Love and Marriage
If you want someone to say "I love you" (the VERB form of "love"), use kar'taylir darasuum which means "to hold in the heart forever." You will need to CONJUGATE this like so:
I love you: ni kar'tayli gar darasuum You love me: gar kar'tayli ni darasuum I love him/her/them: ni kar'tayli kaysh darasuum
If you want to call someone "love" or "my love" ("love" as a pet name/endearment), the word to use is cyare (loved one/beloved) or possibly cyar'ika (darling/sweetheart). Your spouse/committed partner is your riduur. To get married, you say/swear/vow the riduurok. (NOTE that the riduurok is not 100% equivalent to a modern US marriage but this is the vocabulary post not the Mando Culture Meta post. Hit me up if you want me to make the Mando Culture Meta post.)
If you have read more than 2 or 3 Mando fanfics you likely already know about the riduurok but here are the vows, for completeness:
Mhi solus tome, mhi solus dar'tome, mhi me'dinui an, mhi bajuri verde. (We are one when together, we are one when apart, we share all, we will raise warriors.)
If you want to talk about love as a CONCEPT (the noun form of "love") you're going to have to reword it somehow, because Mando'a doesn't have a canon word for that. A few suggestions: 1) reword the sentence to use the verb form 2) use another word, like guuror (to be fond of/to like/to hold affection for). Mando'a also has the very handy intensifier prefix ori-, so you could also say ori'guuror to mean "to like a lot/to be very fond of/to hold great affection for." 3) Think of another way entirely to say the thing you want to say, one that there ARE words for. (You have to do this a lot in Mando'a honestly.) 4) Use a metaphor. Mando'a is a very poetic and metaphorical language where the same words take on different meanings based on context. 5) use words relating to knowledge and remembrance. In Mando'a the concepts of love and remembering/knowing someone or something are VERY closely related.
Attractiveness
A couple related concepts here. Also note that if you are writing Mandalorian characters, they will have Mandalorian standards of attractiveness, of which physical appearance tends to be a lot lower-ranked than in modern Western culture. When you are part of a historically nomadic warrior culture in which most people wear armor all the time, you're gonna care a lot less about what they look like than what they act like and how they ARE, as a person.
Beautiful: mesh'la Very beautiful: ori'mesh'la More beautiful: mesh'lashya The most beautiful: mesh'lane
Note: for all these adjectives, you can add ori' to the front to make it "very [thing]", shya to the end for "more [thing]", and ne to the end for "most [thing]". Attractive (not relating to physical beauty but attractive as a person for other reasons): copyc
Don't mix copyc up with copik'la, which means "cute" but should only be used about animals and small children, not adults. (unless it's a pre-negotiated kink thing but let's save that for the advanced lesson.)
See also the section on compliments for other qualities Mandos find appealing and might use to sweet-talk someone.
Pet Names
cyare (love/beloved) and cyar'ika (darling, sweetheart) are the classic go-tos here. If you are married you can call them riduur (spouse/life partner). You could also use ner kar'ta (my heart), which I would argue works well in Mando'a since the way you tell someone you love them is literally to tell them that you hold them in your heart forever. The heart is actually very significant in Mandalorian culture generally; the elongated hexagon you see used in their designs and in the chestplate of their armor is called the kar'ta beskar (beskar heart) and is a culturally significant symbol.
A note on "-ika": using the suffix "-ika" forms a Mando'a diminutive meaning something like "little [thing]" with an affectionate connotation. Hence cyare (beloved) becomes cyar'ika (sweetheart, darling.) You can do this with names: you add -ika to the first syllable, so Jango would be Jan'ika, Din would be Din'ika, Boba would be Bob'ika. (Note- you can fudge the "first syllable" thing to make it sound better and be easier to say. "Bob'ika" flows better than "Bo'ika" but I think it's easier to say "Gro'ika" for Grogu than "Grog'ika.") Note that -ika is a lot like the Japanese -chan in that it generally connotes something young and cute more than something adult. So don't just deploy it at random. An adult calling their adult lover "-ika" is kind of like, say, calling Steve Rogers "Stevie" or possibly even "Stevie-poo" - it definitely can happen but there's a certain vibe to it that you might not always want. But you could still use it in conjunction with any of these other terms - like you could call someone your kar'tika (little heart) and get the point across.
If the person is being formal/poetic/archaic you might see them use ner runi (my soul), though this would not be commonly used by modern Mandalorians; think of it as like.... using terms from Shakespeare to compliment someone. It can work in the right context but it could also sound really pretentious.
There isn't a canon Mando'a noun that means "treasure" or anything similar, but there are adjectives for "valuable" (waadasla) and "important" (jaonyc) so you can work from there if you're flexible with your phrasing. (You can actually transform words in Mando'a into other parts of speech quite easily--there are simple and standard rules for doing it--but that's another post.)
You'll also see mesh'la (beautiful) used, though I tend to think that Mandos wouldn't emphasize physical beauty so much as other qualities they like, such as:
Other Things A Mando Would Compliment You On (could be platonic or romantic)
Being mandokarla (adjective) or having mandokar (noun) means basically "having all the qualities that make an ideal Mandalorian." The dictionary definition calls this "a blend of aggression, tenacity, loyalty, and a lust for life."
Having shereshoy (noun) - this is the "lust for life" referred to above, but that's a shorthand translation. Shereshoy is a Mandalorian cultural concept that means "the enjoyment of each day and the determination to seek and grab every possible experience, as well as surviving to see the next day - hanging onto life and relishing it." (a nice parallel for those who ship Mandos with Jedi is to the Jedi concept of being in the present moment!)
Loyal - verburyc (adj)
Stubborn/tenacious/enduring - atin (adj)
Aggressive (not necessarily negative) - verd'yc (adj) (note that "verd" is "warrior" - this is aggressive in a culturally valued way for Mandalorians and might also be used the way you'd use passionate, ambitious, etc in English. OVERLY aggressive/rude/intrusive would be something like "akaa'naryc" which has a connotation more like starting fights/instigating war.
Clever/intelligent - mirdala (adj)
Brave - kotep (adj)
Good - jate, very good - ori'jate, best - jatne.
Ramikadyc - this is one of those words that needs cultural context to really define. Verd is "warrior," Ramikad is "commando," and ori'ramikad is "supercommando" which is the term for elite special forces. Ramikadyc -literally "commando-like" - is defined as "an attitude that he/she can do anything, endure anything, and achieve the objective. A blend of complete confidence and extreme tenacity instilled in special forces during training. Can also be used informally to describe a determined, focused person." (Side note: ram'or means "to attack" and "kad" is "sword" so ramikad likely originally just meant "swordfighter." Possibly because you need more training to be effective with swords and blasters than blasters alone, this came to refer to a more elite class of soldier.)
Kandosii can mean both indomitable and ruthless, while kandosii'la means stunning or amazing.
Strength - a couple different words here. Kot (strength) and kotyc (strong). Dral, which means strong or powerful but can also mean bright or glowing. This leads to the question- how do you know which word to pick when there are multiple ones with the same or similar dictionary definitions?
My go-to is to look for other words that have similar roots, or canon phrases that contain one of the words, and use that to figure out the connotation/flavor/nuance that distinguishes the words from each other.
So for strength - do you use dral or kotyc?
You see the "dral" root in a few places: Dral'Han (the Annihilation - a more literal translation would be "bright annihilation" or "bright oblivion" and it is a reference to the glare of the orbital bombardment of Mandalore), draluram ("bright-mouth", a term for spicy food), and the phrase "nar dral'shya." (try harder/put your back into it.) The "kot" root appears in kote (glory), kotep (brave), kotir (to defeat, to overpower), and alli'kote (a clan's reputation.) From this, it seems like you might use "kotyc" to talk about physical/martial strength or strength that leads to victory or reputation, and "dral" to talk about more innate or existential kinds of strength/power.
Okay, so you can give the sweet-talk. What about the SPICY talk? (because Mandalorians love spicy food? get it?)
Some Potentially Useful Words For Sexy Stuff
naritir (v) - to insert, to put, to place. Note that if you wanted to do an imperative you would add "ke" to the beginning.
narir (v) - to act, do, put
Nar dral'shya! (phrase) - try harder, put your back into it. (We talked about this phrase above when discussing dral. "shya" at the end means "more [thing]" - it's the equivalent of adding "-er" to an English verb - so "dral'shya" here means something like "more powerfully". The "nar" is likely from narir (act/do/put) but could potentially also be from naritir (insert/put/place), so I think that it's quite possible for this phrase to have a double-entendre connotation something like "shove it in harder.")
Words for body parts - (note, in Mando'a you make a word plural by adding -e to the end if it ends in a consonant and -se if it ends in a vowel)
Hand/hands - gaan/gaane Finger/fingers - cer/cere Buttocks/ass/rear - shebs (note that this is referring to one entire butt; there isn't a word for a single buttock. "shebse" would be "asses" aka the butts of more than one person.) Arm/arms - irud/irude Chest - haalas (there is no word for breasts) Thigh/thighs - motuun/motuune Face - troan (this word also means "mask") Eye/eyes - sur'haai/sur'haaise
Words for THOSE body parts - okay look the Officially Licensed Star Wars Expanded Universe material isn't big on telling you how the GFFA says "cock" so you're going to have to use some creativity here.
Mando'a in general uses gender VERY rarely (in Mando'a, everyone's pronouns are they/them) and when it does, it's mostly in reference to like, animal husbandry. It's generally not going to be very well received to call someone jagyc (male) or dalyc (female) in a sexy context. It's more a medical/scientific thing because in Mandalorian culture biological sex is only relevant for medical/scientific/agricultural reasons and gender only matters in so far as it personally matters to you but is culturally largely irrelevant. Probably Mando OB/GYN vocabulary exists but it was apparently not deemed relevant to the Republic Commando tie-in game and novels that most Mando'a was developed for.
That said, there are definitely crude, Shakespearean-esque jokes including swords and sheaths and such - but these would be considered kind of raunchy and not something that everyone would appreciate. Anyway the words here are:
Kad (n)- sword, saber Dalab (n)- sheath, scabbard
And if you want some verbs, Mando'a has THREE words for stabbing: chekar, kalikir, and bikadinir. Chekar means to stab with a small blade - think "to shiv." Probably not the most complimentary metaphor but some people might be into that. Kalikir is to stab with a narrow blade - "to skewer". Bikadinir is to stab with a broad blade - "to run through." The way that these metaphorical uses might be interpreted are left as an exercise for the reader, ahem.
Big (and little) - Big is "ori" and small is "kih". In addition to using them on their own, you can also use them as modifying prefixes, where they CAN mean physically big or small but can also mean the equivalent of "very [thing]" or "slightly [thing.]" Note that "kih" (at the front) is small/little with no context about how you feel about the thing being described, while -ika (at the back) is a way to say "little" with an affectionate, cutesy vibe. So your ori'vod is your older/big sibling, your kih'vod is your younger/little sibling, and your vod'ika is your little sibling (affectionate.)
Hard (and soft)- you probably want muun (hard as in a surface or material) rather than urakto (hard as in difficult.) Soft or yielding is pel; do not use laandur (fragile) as that is considered an insult.
Tight (and loose)- sadly don't exist, but you can probably use novla (closed/shut) and tenn (open) to get the job done here.
Hole - palon is "hole." surdol means "an opening" or "a window," you could likely use this in a sexy context. I've seen people use "shebs'palon" to mean "asshole" but YMMV.
Hot (and cold)- hot is nadala, but this refers to temperature only. Hot as in attractive you want copyc, hot as in physically appealing you probably want mesh'la. Cold is ciryc.
Wet (and dry)- wet is piryc, dry is haast.
Show - tenganaar is "to show" or "to display" with a root from "open hand" (like you're showing something in the palm of your hand.)
Want - copaanir is the verb "to want." Me'copaani? is "What do you want?" or "what would you like?" vercopaanir (literally future-want) is "to wish" or "to hope" and vercopa is a wish or dream. If you say "Vercopa" followed by a statement, it means "I wish that/may it happen that." So like - "Vercopa mhi me'dinui an" would be "I want us to share all." Vercopa can also have a connotation sort of like the one when someone says "I'm manifesting this" - like, you are urging the universe to make it happen for you. The related word copad (noun) is an ambition or desire.
Okay that got really long but I hope it is helpful to someone! Because I've spent way too much time thinking about this. :)

I keep thinking about the times that someone has looked at the idea of writing their language and gone '…yeah no I'm gonna fix that' or 'yeah I want a piece of that action' and made it happen, for any reason. And I'm gonna make noises about it for a little bit. Maybe highlight a couple of things.
You've got King Sejong in Korea going "OK. The script we're using now is hella complex and …Chinese. I want something that's easy enough for a farmer to learn. And maybe to pay his taxes with." And he works out hangul, neat and logical and frequent winner of Best Writing System awards if such things exist. (And then the nobles don't like it because how are they supposed to look smart if the peasants can write too?)
You've got Sequoyah, thinking the settlers he's doing business with might have at least one good idea in this whole 'talking leaves' system they're using. So he throws himself into working out a syllabary that works for the Cherokee language even when his friends and family think he's losing the plot or he's possessed or… Anything. But he hangs in there. Teaches his daughter. Proves that this is something worth it, and goes on to see the syllabary he created become official and used throughout the Cherokee Nation.
These are the best known ones. But how many are there out there?
There are systems where a missionary or someone similar's come into a place, and gone 'hm, Latin ain't cutting it for writing this' - the Cree syllabics and their extended Canadian family fall into this box, though there's at least some accounts that dispute the usual story. (Given that a lot of those sort of stories come down to 'so we can make a Bible at these people', it's fair to put a big old asterisk on them, but… they're a thing.) Getting away from that issue, though? There's local creators making a bespoke system for their language when the ones they'd picked up from outside just don't fit the sounds or grammatical patterns. Writing systems that can really belong to a language and its people.
While it's absolutely not my place to say whether something is good or bad - the only people who can do that are the language users and community the script was made for - there can't help but be a few that catch the eye. For example, I'm quite fond of the Ditema tsa Dinoko script - it's a pretty recent creation from South Africa as a script for a wide range of Bantu languages, using compact triangular blocks in a way that reflects traditional patterns from Sesotho tradition. From my outside perspective, it's an elegant script. It's just one example, though - there's many creators in Africa who have done similar things, sitting down and making a script that their language needs and that isn't being shoved on them by… yeah. Vai and N'Ko are the biggest examples but there are so many! Moving on, in Oceania, we find the Avoiuli text from Vanuatu, designed so that any one character can be drawn with one stroke in the sand… and elsewhere, the scripts being created to use with signed languages which haven't used them in the past…
If I were to try and go into all of them, it'd be a whole essay. And I'd probably miss some as I'm an outsider nerd without access to the deep literature on some of this stuff. Instead, I'll link to The World's Writing Systems as an index to browse through - unfortunately, it doesn't allow searching by how the writing system was created. But there are plenty of indigenous scripts listed there too that deserve their own deep dive. (The fact it lists con-scripts specifically made for fiction… eh.) Their icon comes from the Afaka script, for the Ndyuka creole in Suriname. A lot of the letters are quite pictorial in nature - including the 'ka' in WWS's icon. Gotta say, that's a way to make things memorable.
…anyway, that's my ramble for today. Just gonna wrap with this source which I haven't fully investigated yet, and Endangered Alphabets which isn't so much for deliberately constructed scripts but (unsurprisingly) for endangered ones in general, and as such plain deserves a link.
Now I go back to my own scribbling. Maybe I'll finish a con-script enough to show off one day. Even if one rather smaller in goals.

Masterpost! :D👍
Hello, friends, welcome to my art blog!
I hope my silly doodles can bring you a little bit of happiness, or a brief moment of amusement at the very least 🧡
Art requests: you will see [Req's open!!] In my blog title when I'm taking requests!
If you've sent me a request while my list is full, I will keep it in my inbox until I have an empty slot. It will not be ignored! :]
If I don't end up drawing your request, it just means that it didn't pique my interest at the time! It doesn't mean that I think your idea is bad in any way, I'm just chasing The Dopamine™
If there is a specific thing you would like to see me draw, be it a character, an item, or a scenario, don't hesitate to tell me!! I would love to hear any request you might have, and I'd be honored to make your day just a tiny bit brighter with some shiny new art ^-^
These requests aren't something I will be prioritizing over other projects, but rather something that I'll turn to whenever I feel like it. I'm currently trying to put together an art portfolio for future commissions, so requests are incredibly appreciated!
If you do have a request you want to make, please leave it in my inbox rather than my DM's! This just makes it easier for me to keep track of things ^-^
(This of course doesn't apply if you have reference pictures that you'd like for me to use, or if you'd like to discuss some details about an OC of yours. I just want the initial message in my inbox for the sake of organization :])
I have a second blog where I'll be hoarding all the shiny posts I come across that I think are neat, don't hesitate to check it out if you wanna discover some really awesome artists!! I'm sure that another reblog (or maybe even a comment!) would put a smile on the faces of the original creators ^-^
You'll find it at @antics-of-a-spiteful-stickbug , I hope you'll appreciate all the funky posts as much as I do c:
Will I be posting mature content? I have a tendency to use pretty mature language (I swear a lot), but that's about it. There will be no nsfw content on this blog. I might post stuff that contains artistic nudity every once in a blue moon, (emphasis on might), but that's about it. The same goes for my second blog, there will be no nsfw content but I might reblog stuff that contains artistic nudity, should I come across it.
Some info about me! For those who might be curious :]
Age: 19 [nov 30, 04]
Nationality: Swedish 🇸🇪
Gender: genderfluid/agender, (it's somewhat of a mix between these two) and I'm AFAB
Favourite colour: all of them. (But if I have to choose, blue and orange make for a pretty neat combo 🧡^-^💙)
Interests: just about anything bahahaha, but I'm a huge nerd when it comes to character design, be it written, drawn, or animated! I'm also a huuuuge fan of colours, how they look together, and how they can influence the way we percieve things. I could sit for hours just making up different colour palettes, it's a hyperfixation of mine ^-^ I also like to write! I used to spend all my free time writing, and even won a short story competition held by my school when I was in 9th grade B] (I know, huuge achievement lmfao) I might post some writing here and there if inspiration strikes, but I'm not making any promises.
Now that all of that's out of the way, I do hope you'll find my blog entertaining, and that you have a wonderful rest of your day ^-^ 🧡
Yours truly, Stickbug 🪲

Your OCs are told they're going to watch a Star Wars movie. Which one will make them happiest and which one will be the most disappointing?
Ooooh good question! I'm gonna open this up to movies and shows because... I'm a nerd lol
Rae: happiest with Empire Strikes Back, most disappointed with the prequels
Robin: Loves all of them, but would be particularly pleased at the Tuskan Raider sign language in Book of Boba Fett
Madison: I think she'd love the sequel movies, actually! She'd like Rey as a protagonist for sure. And she's not familiar enough with them to have a least favorite.
Ophelia: Hm... she regularly has Star Wars marathons with the Peters and Ned, so she's familiar with all of them, but I think she'd be the most fond of the Clone Wars show (and would have it on constantly when she's working in her lab)
Jasper: Also has a lot of Star Wars marathons and loves them all, but I think they just couldn't sit through Rogue One. It's not bad, it's just... long, and they prefer to have established characters.
Katherine: Being a nerd kid (like me!) she grew up on the original and prequel movies and those will always be close to her heart. Though she'd go nuts for how cool and artistic the different episodes of Star Wars: Visions are!! And she found the Rise of Skywalker to be a little disappointing, like a lot of people
Kestrel: Has not seen any of them, and probably only would if one of the kids managed to corral them into it.
Quinn: I think she'd actually really enjoy the Force Awakens, but neither of the other sequel movies. She likes how many cool ideas were set up, but felt like they sort of lost focus and got less compelling as the series went on
Eris: Has only seen them because Rick made them have a marathon one day, and doesn't really have any strong opinions. If they had to pick a favorite, he'd like Mando: a rogue fighter, affiliated with no one side? That's Eris' thing for sure, and they think the fight scenes are neat.
Nikoletta: Likes them all, but in a detached way. No favorites, no least favorites, they're entertaining to have on (and Abner likes them) but she won't seek them out on her own. She's more of a Star Trek fan (and before you ask, the original series and Next Gen mainly)

Think I could ask what you think of Logan’s character and where you think his character arc will go (or at least, where you’d like to see it go in the series)? Honestly I’m just interested in hearing you talk about him
I found this rlly far down my drafts. Somehow. Idk how it got there. But at least I don't have to rewrite the entire beginning 🧡
NOTE: I have Aphasia. It's a language disorder that affects my ability to understand and use language and it affects me both within writing and speaking. This is going to be a little incomprehensible and all over the place, but be nicies to me and feel free to ask for clarification.
This is more of a ramble, than a nice and neat analysis.
Everyone is allowed to add on :3c
ALSO SORRY TO ANYONE TAGGED</3 You're most likely tagged because I was quoting/linking a post by you.
OK. LET'S TALK ABT LOGAN (FT MY BAD SCREENSHOTS):
Tumblr media
[ID: a screenshot of Logan Sanders from the Sanders Sides episode "My True Identity!" He is smiling at the camera and making finger guns. /end ID]
This might be incomprehensible I love logan sanders. So much. Its so hard to put into words i jsut love him OK. He is perfect in every day & also a little nerd. & Beautiful. & handsome. & my babygirl.
I feel like a lot of fans treat him as if he is... like any other glasses wearing character in fiction. Byakuya Togami is the first to pop into my mind, same with Kusuo Saiki from The Disasterous Life of Saiki K, Freddy Riley from Identity V, Charles Offdensen from Metalocalypse, Kyoya Ootori from Ouran Highschool Hostclub, ETC. THERE'S A LOT OF GLASSES GUYS. (Note: these characters do not completely fit each other, but you get the point.)
The trope of "smart, unemotionless, rude/blunt character wears glasses" is something fans will shove Logan into, but the thing is Logan's character takes this trope and completely snaps it in half and throws it in the trash.
Logan is smart. He is blunt and can be the biggest asshole at times. He is """unemotional""" (stated by him).
Tumblr media
[ID: a screenshot of Logan Sanders from the Sanders Sides episode "Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts". The captions reas, "Everything is okay." /end ID]
But he's also compassionate. He is hopeful. He cares so much for the people around him and he holds so much love in his heart.
This post (link) by @intrulogical probably phrases it way better than I ever could + this post (link) by @nesushii
I think that's what makes Logan such a compelling character. He's not someone who needs to "learn how to feel" (which is an idea in fiction I dislike) (it can become a little ableist), he is someone who does feel and know he feels and feels so much all the time, but he can't express it well due to both the environment around him and how he shows his emotions.
A lot of Logan's asshole actions, I think, are less him actively trying to be rude and more him just struggling really bad.
In Moving On, he is "rude" but it's because he realises his actions were Wrong and he's trying to Fix It. He recognises Virgil's panic attack, how this room is affecting Thomas, and realises that he should have listened to Patton. But because of the affects of Patton's room and Logan's tone and phrasing, he comes off as Mean. He becomes defensive as everyone blows him off and it affects how he's trying to help everyone.
In LNTAO, Logan is confused about the entire situation. He doesn't understand why singing or puppets would help Thomas and, as Logic, it is terrifying to not Know when it's his entire job to know. His confusion turns into defensiveness, and because he already struggles to express his emotions in a way that the other sides like/understand, his confusion (& defensiveness) comes off as anger and purposeful ignorance. Which is why the sides and Thomas treat him the way they do— they're assuming he doesn't want to know. Which is entirely untrue!
I know I've talked so much already about how Logan is unintentionally autistic coded (I'm even writing an entire essay about it), but like... HE IS SO AUTISTIC CODED!!
This character that struggles with expressing himself. Who lives in an environment where he feels like he has to exist a certain way, or else he won't be accepted. Who doesn't understand tone or sarcasm or the "big picture". Who struggles with other people viewing him as some sort of unemotionless ""monster"", bexause they don't understand him. Who wants to be heard and understood.
In DWIT, he feels like he's finally doing something right. That he's on the right path. And then it immediately get snatched away in POF and then again in WTIT. And that's such an inherently autistic experience. You feel like you're masking right, you're fitting in, people are accepting and loving you— only to act "too autistic" and the false comfort you wanted is snatched away (a little more complex and nuanced than that, but you know).
He is... So Autistic and it HURTS. (He could also be viewed as neurodivergent in general— I can relate to him outside of autism, with my schizophrenia and speech impediment.)
I also relate to him heavily as a child abuse victim. I've brought it up a few times, but I haven't been able to express entirely what I mean by calling him "child abuse coded" (WHICH IS A PHRASE I KEEP GIGGLING AT).
Logan's entire situation with anger feels so... similar to my own anger issues and trauma. The way he will get so angry and explode only to calm down and realise his actions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: two screenshots of Logan Sanders from the Sanders Sides episode "Working Through Intrusive Thoughts". In image one, he is pointing at someone out of frame and looking down at the floor with a confused expression. In image two, he has a hand on his tie and looks upset. /end ID]
Hurting those around you because you're hurting is something I feel like most, if not all, abuse victims struggle with. And especially with child abuse victims, I personally always feel on edge. Like I have to defend my actions 24/7 and I need to express myself perfectly or else no one will understand and I will "get in trouble" and "punished".
It reminds me so much of Logan. After he gets angry and explodes (partially due to the Orange Side, based on how the series is being shown), he immediately is confused and shameful and scared.
Logan is scared and ashamed of his own actions and is trying so hard to fix himself and not be that, not be an angry aggressive person. But it's not as simple and apologising and moving on and it's definitely much harder when those around you will not let you / don't understand fully.
ANYWAY Logan's character means so much to me as an autistic, abused guy. //slaps Logan// this guy can hold SO much trauma!
This post (link) by @orbmanson7 I think puts some of my thoughts into better words about Logan's anger and boundaries and everything (which also helps us segway into talking about his arc)
The thing with Logan's arc is that it's a little more complex than just "Logan wants to be listened to". All of the sides want to be listened to, that's the entire point of them. They all want to help Thomas.
It's not only that Logan wants to be listened to and isn't, it's also that Logan is actively listening to critiques and trying to fix and change. He is hearing and seeing that something he is doing is not helpful and is upsetting people. He wants to fix it and change and improve. But no matter what he does, nothing seems to "fix the issue"— Thomas still will not listen to him.
Logan has to unlearn this idea that he needs to constantly be improving himself, that he has to act a certain way, in order for someone to listen and understand him (AGAIN. WHY I RELATE TO HIM AS A ABUSE VICTIM). AND, the sides need to be actively changing how they are treating him. Because him unlearning this won't immediately fix the issue if the sides aren't working too.
The situation can't be fixed with a simple promise of "we will listen to you, Logan", because they've been doing that the entire series.
Tumblr media
[ID: a screenshot of Logan Sanders from the Sanders Sides episode "Working Through Intrusive Thoughts". He is holding a notebook near his chest and looks dejected. The captions read, "Another day, Logan, I promise." /end ID]
ALSO, this doesn't fall completely on the other sides. Logan still needs to work on letting himself express things and learning how to cope with his strong, intense emotions like his anger. He's lashing out at the other sides and that's not okay. He can't hurt the people he cares about because he's angry and upset (see the ending of POF before Janus reveals his name).
Which... is one of the reasons I really do not want his anger to be "caused by" the orange side. I want this to be something he is experiencing and going through, because if it's "oooh a dark side is controlling him!!" then it won't be a "Logan issue", it'll be a "dark side issue". Which is not what he OR the viewers need.
Logan needs to overcome and cope with his issues without someone inserting themselves into his arc. The more people are thrown into the mix, the more the attention is drawn away from Logan, and I think his arc is something that desperately needs to be told and focused on.
And NO . I am not a fan of "Logan is the Orange Side" theories. There's a million reasons why that's not true if you actually watch and pay attention to the series (it's a very fun AU, but falls apart in context of the actual series). (Plus I don't want him to stop being indigo.......)
I also don't want Logan's arc to end up with him "turning into a dark side" for a MULTITUDE of reasons:
The "dark sides" aren't like... an actual, genuine thing...? It's not something you can ""become"", it's something you are forced into. It is a term created by Roman to describe sides that Thomas views as inherently bad or evil. The only way for Logan to ""become"" a "dark side" is if someone, in an episode, verbally, called Logan a "dark side".
Obviously, Logan can be treated like a "dark" side. In fact, how he is being treated in the series is very similar to how Virgil was treated in seasonn 1 or how Janus is being treated, ETC. BUT I don't want him to be called a "dark side", because I feel like that brings up an entirely new conflict? Now it's not focused on them ignoring Logan, it's focused on "Logic is evil?" "Thomas views Logic as bad?".
I'm struggling really hard to explain, but I feel like it just layers the conflict and I don't want that. I don't want Logan's arc to include the dark sides in any way. I want it to be focused on him.
(HOWEVER, I don't mind the connection between Logan and the dark sides through their similarities and finding comfort each other because of it. In fact, I love it. But I am not sure how to elaborate on that and how I want their relationships to be, so I skipped over it. If someone asks later, I can try to put it in words. In short, less of the "dark sides" affecting Logan, more Logan affecting the "dark sides"? I don't know if that makes sense.)
Also, I don't trust real-life Thomas to write it well! While he is very good at writing conflict, he sucks at resolving conflict (see: Virgil's reveal as a dark side at the end of DWIT and how it's handled in ATHD). Logan becoming a "dark side" already adds more to his already conflict-filled arc, I don't want to then see it be swept under the rug or handled really badly. Logan deserves a good arc. Don't bite off more than you can chew, or whatever, leave his arc alone. Stop it. Please.
I think that's all I wanted to say?
In short: Logan is full of hope and love and compassion and is so, so autistic coded and has so much trauma. I think his arc is more complex than "not being listened to" and he has to unlearn a lot. I don't want his arc to involve the orange side/him being the orange side, or any of the dark sides, because that brings the attention away from him.

Episode 24: The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya, Part 5
Been dreading this one because I really liked the confrontation at the end of Part 4 and some individual scenes have been neat but for the most part this arc has been extremely gross.
Also, had to change the shady piracy website that I'm taking my screenshots from. We're watching the show on Crunchyroll but we have to do "Someone in the extended family has a subscription and we all share" shenanigans for all of our streaming services so nobody knows who had the Crunchyroll password and I can't get it on my computer.
Tumblr media
Yuki has a cat now. I wonder if she'll get to keep it. I would love to see Yuki transition from stoic robot with no furnishings to stoic robot who is a cat person now.
Her apartment filled with just that one kotatsu and also a scratching post, cat tree, cat tunnel, and food dishes.
Sitting at the kotatsu with a book open on the table, reading with a cat in her lap. Petting its head mechanically; The same exact motion on repeat like a metronome. "Kitty," she says aloud in her emotionless monotone.
In any case, we got through this shooting session without more Mikuru grossness so I'm hoping Haruhi learned something from yesterday's meltdown and reconciliation. I mean, this is still happening:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But that's still gonna happen. Haruhi gonna Haruhi.
I just. Would really like to see character growth come out of this gross arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shamisen is amazingly verbose and capable of a complex understanding of language.
I want to keep him. I desperately want to keep him. Can we keep him? Please tell me we get to keep him.
Tumblr media
I will trade this character for him.
Tumblr media
Aww, we're sending Shamisen with Kyon. That's a shame. I was all set for Cat Ladybot Yuki.
Tumblr media
At this point, the only reason I feel confident that those guys aren't another Haruhi Thing (TM) is because that's not her genre. XD
Part of me thinks it's for the best that Haruhi doesn't read medieval fantasy and didn't make a world with dragons and shit. But then I remember that she did make a world with reality-bending data aliens. Being as sci-fi nerd isn't any better than a fantasy nerd in this regard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who's up for a religious schism!?
Mikuru offers a conflicting interpretation of Haruhi to what Itsuki's been saying. Itsuki believes that, in the event three years ago, Haruhi created the universe. That, essentially, all things in existence are only three years old. There is no past beyond that point, which meshes with something Mikuru told us early on.
Tumblr media
It's impossible to travel back in time beyond three years from today, for reasons unknown. This would make sense if there is no past, as Itsuki speculated.
Tumblr media
If the universe sprang into existence fully formed from the timequake three years ago then it would be impossible to travel beyond the timequake.
Tumblr media
The computer bug came to our time from a parallel reality 208 million years ago, according to Yuki. In order for that to be true, there must have existed a period of time 208 million years ago.
This doesn't disprove Haruhi creating the universe in the timequake. She could have created time retroactively. But it does mean that the nonexistence of time beyond the timequake cannot be used as evidence to prove that Haruhi created the universe, because time does exist beyond the timequake. Mikuru's organization can't reach it, but the Data Integration Thought Entity's awareness can.
Which, itself, makes sense since it's already been established that the aliens have a better grasp of time than the time travelers do. In any case, it seems likely that the world existed before three years ago.
Tumblr media
As Yuki clarifies, Mikuru instead believes that the world was always like this but Haruhi has the ability to discover strange and mysterious things. There were always aliens, but Haruhi's abilities simply drew them in, basically.
I don't think that's correct either. Kyon brings up that all of the espers spontaneously developed their abilities and awareness of Haruhi during The Event Three Years Ago, which is fairly significant proof that the world was altered. Yuki's counterpoint... sucks?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Maybe he lied."
I mean, sure, but if we go down that rabbit hole then maybe Haruhi has no powers and Yuki's just been using her alien magic to fake all of it this whole time. Anyone can be lying about anything, Yuki. That's a bad argument.
Obviously something happened three years ago because all three of them agree on that. Yuki, Mikuru, and Itsuki have all independently testified that some fucking shit went down three years ago that brought them all here.
I've already made my argument against Itsuki's interpretation. A decisive argument against "The world was always like this" is Mikuru herself. You could say that the extradimensional bug always existed, and Haruhi's logo simply drew it to her. You could say that the Celestials are a natural phenomenon that are simply being stirred up by Haruhi's emotions. You could say that Shamisen is actually a talking cat because of reasons, that simply crossed Haruhi's path.
But Mikuru Beam is pretty hard to equivocate. Haruhi gave Mikuru the ability to shoot a photon laser out of her eye, which she did not previously possess. (The time loop also comes to mind.) So. No, Mikuru. The world was not always like this. Haruhi is doing shit.
The most plausible explanation is the alternative one that Itsuki first introduced. The one where Haruhi did not create the world but did remake it. Her power simply erupted one day and expanded across the universe like Devil Homura's Labyrinth.
I get the point they're making here about the complexity of belief. Like a proper religion, at the end of the day, it is difficult to draw any factual conclusions about the true esoteric nature of Haruhi Suzumiya. But I think, if you look deep enough, there are sufficient pieces to draw suppositional conclusions, at least - but those may vary from person to person.
We'll never truly know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, I'm loving the idea of Mikuru and Itsuki's factions being hostile to one another and the inter-group drama that such an idea would create. Especially since we all have to play Nice Happy Club Friends in front of Haruhi.
Religious schism and political intrigue in my slice-of-life show about goldfish scooping with the local cosmic horror? Yes please.
But I feel a little uncomfortable with the idea that *gestures at Mikuru* ALL OF THAT was stuff Mikuru went along with because she's trying to honeypot Kyon.
It feels like they're trying super hard to salvage what they've done with Mikuru and are instead making it worse.
That said, what I do like is that we didn't have any more gross Haruhi Molests Mikuru jokes in this whole episode. Itsuki's mad at Kyon for not fixing the "Haruhi's movie is warping reality" problem but I'm satisfied that Kyon and Haruhi's meltdown did result in changed behavior, at least for now.
She's still an asshole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But at least she's backed off of the sexual harassment that these episodes had dialed up so high. So that's something.
Tumblr media
Oh hey we're FINALLY having the lunch conversation that was promised all the way back in episode 6. Kyon's finally going to break the rules and leak everything to Haruhi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And just like Yuki promised: Haruhi doesn't fucking care what you think, Kyon. In fact, she thinks you're making fun of her. Good job.

here is an unorganized collection of thoughts i had about the new dune movie. a lot of them will be about departures from the book, and i haven't read it in several years and it's after midnight, so if i misremember let me know or just ignore it
broad things: very pretty, very loud, very long. i understand that they had to cut things, it's a long book, but they also added a lot of new stuff and i feel like that could've been trimmed a bit. i understand why they added a lot more to chani's character, especially since they have zendaya, and i think a lot but not all of that worked.
very weird choice to keep alia unborn for the whole movie? i don't understand why they did that. maybe they didn't think they had time to properly handle a precocious murder toddler? this section of the book takes place over about three years, so either they really compressed the timeline or jessica just... held that baby in (with bene geserit reverend mother powers)?
they took out everything involving the spacing guild and CHOAM and the emperor's shares, i assume because it was complicated and they thought it would confuse the audience, but it also reduces (removes?) the leverage that paul and the fremen have over the rest of the galaxy.
i know harkonens have to all be deranged murder perverts, but the main three here take that to a dysfunctional level. plus, they weren't just murdering slaves, but also plenty of servants and officers, and i don't think the movie properly explored the implications of that.
they didn't let feyd have his silly poison tricks, and that's a shame. no poison on the wrong dagger, no secret belt needle. i guess they gave him three cannibal girlfriends to make up for it.
the harkonens are very dumb here. in the book, i'm pretty sure it was the baron's plan from the beginning to have rabban terrorize arrakis, and then his smart sexy nephew take over and be the good guy, but here that's a bene gesserit plan, like vlad isn't smart enough to think of that one himself.
the atomics were underexplained, and mayyybbbe audiences wouldn't care about the details of treaty stuff, but i think they could have spared thirty seconds for a line about how they're using them against the rock wall instead of people and why that's important.
saw a lot of lasers, and there should've been an explanation for lasgun-shield interactions, because otherwise pedantic nerds who don't know about dune will be like "why aren't they always using these powerful laser guns".
i really liked the baby worms, and the woman who cared for them, all adorable.
no thufir hawat? i did do a little bit of searching to refresh my thufir memory after i saw the movie, and i saw plenty of headlines about how the director was sad he had to cut his part from the movie, i didn't read any of those articles though.
without the spacing guild stuff, the bene gesserit have no rivals, they already control the emperor and everything else happening, why are they bothering to scheme for power?
i really enjoyed all the fremen dialogue, david and jessie did a great job on that. it was pretty silly to hear timothée chimolet (or /ˈtɪməθi ˈʃɪməli/ as my friend says) sprinkle in his american, especially when speaking to fremen who shouldn't know... imperial? common? basic? does the imperial language have a name? but i thought everyone had good deliveries, and if they made any mistakes i couldn't tell.
i think it was probbaly a good decision to remove the stuff about paul's first kid and also jamis's widow (and kids?). the movie was long enough, and they wanted chani to support and push against paul and to be an active fighter, not just have to have his kid. i do miss the bit with weights that represent jamis's water that now belongs to paul, i thought that was a neat bit of culture stuff.
what's up with those flippy rectangle mines? do they use the same kind of tech as the other levitating things? do the fremen have that kind of manufacturing capacity? they were neat, but they filled me with questions.
they completely dropped the whole thing about not sheathing a crysknife without drawing blood, did that have any of that in the first movie? i don't remember. maybe they did, and they just decided to ignore it because it would be cooler if the fremen could brandish them whenever.
i assumed the process of collecting a body's water was complicated and took a while, it felt a little silly to have the devices that instantly pull clear water from corpses.
the emperor's space ship had weird fire stuff when it was parked above arakeen? don't know what's up with that.
harkonen murder arenas have special monochrome lighting, maybe that's a special application of the effect that makes all the other physics breaking tech work.
the harkonen strategic display tech felt too computery for a post-butlerian jihad world, that should be a mentat job, and they don't deserve visual displays, i don't care about the audience.
the rich people must hate being comfortable, because every single rich people place is bare and austere and hostile. i get that the harkonens are murder perverts, but they should be comfortable decadent murder perverts, and i didn't see a single cushion on that throne for the very old emperor.
the emperor's guard (are those supposed to be sadukar?) all hold their swords like baseball bats, with the elbows out, and that's just asking elbow removal.
maybe the harkonens have such bare and hostile architecture because it's a horrible pain to get blood out of fancy carpets and pillows etc. i pity the janitors on geidi prime.
on the other hand, the firework makers on geidi prime seem to be having a great time, really experimenting with ink tech and keeping to the designated aesthetic.
i understand that for acting and cinema reasons, the film makers want the audience to be able to see the faces of the lead actors, but there were so many times were i thought "paul! chani! you're wasting so much water vapor by panting without your mouthpieces! also put on your headwraps instead of just letting them billow, you're going to get the worst sunburn and also sand everywhere." at least they wore proper PPE while worm riding.
there was that bit where paul was about to say the walk without rhythm line, and the movie basically said "hah you thought we were gonna say that but we didn't, aren't we clever"
i don't think the bit with lady fenring and feyd was in the book? i don't think it added a lot to the movie, and if they really wanted his baby around for franchise reasons, i think they could just do that in a flashback then instead of adding even more runtime.
knife fighting is a terrible stadium sport, you can't see anything happening from those seats.
most of the bladework in the movie was decent and reasonable, i recognized some good parries and cuts, but there were a few moments with flips and spins that made me laugh, those are not a good idea.

So I'm not really confident enough to try to do this in my first publication, but I've actually run into a grammatical issue that I, as a literary nerd, have become obsessed with actually wanting to talk to people about...
The problem is that most people are not literary nerds, and will probably feel like they're back in English class and just generally not be interested in trying to learn it... and that transphobic/enbyphobic people will be obnoxiously oppositional about it...
What I'm talking about is the singular They... which I have problems with, but not the same problems as transphobic people. My problem with it is that in written and spoken language... it gets all tied up.
NOT CONFUSING! NOT INVALID... just generally one can get tongue tied with the pluralisms of adverbs around "they/them."
In spoken language, we're used to singular adverbs like "Is" and "Was," so if we start a sentence like "How is [person] doing?" Even if we are very good about calling someone "They/them" our brain doesn't take that turn right away... so we will awkwardly go "How is... uhh..."
In a written context, and almost exclusively in a written context, it can get confusing. On paper, the reader won't know if you're referring to the non-gendered individual or the group of characters in a scene. The writer will feel obligated to using a proper noun.
There was a solution to this proposed as far back as 1890 by James Rogers... Shorthand "They" into "E." And then later it was proposed by other people over the last 100 years, eventually evolving into the proposed "Ey/Em/Eir" in 1975 (attributed to Christine M. Elverson) which traditionally is read as "A" but I personally feel it could be pronounced "E" or "A" the same way we pronounce "The" two different ways.
Of course you can circumvent all of this by just using proper nouns (or names) every time you're referring to a non-gendered or gender-obscured character, but I've found that the overuse of a character or person's proper noun can start to feel awkward as well.
Which is why as a writer... I find the use of "Ey/em" fascinating as fuck!
And not exclusively for non-binary characters.
Sometimes in literature we don't want to gender a character until we reveal who they are in the second or third act. In real life, sometimes we don't know the gender of the person we're talking about.
Sometimes in both fiction and real life we encounter gender-non-conforming non-humans. "It" also works in that case, but if I could just make the history lesson of "Ey" interesting enough to get readers to try it out... Like seriously, we already do it on accident with a slurred and awkward "How is ey doing."
And I think it's neat, I think if I could get past the opposition towards learning new rules people would be able to pick it up pretty quickly...
I'm specifically talking about "Ey/em" in this post, but seriously I think neopronouns as a linguistic concept are cool as fuck and I sincerely want to get the English-speaking world more receptive to them by using them in literature in a way that's engaging, interesting, and helps readers get a feel for how natural it starts to sound after only a couple of paragraphs.
Yes, I'm non-binary, and yes that is probably the largest most universal reason why it would be beneficial to get people more receptive towards neopronouns, but as a literary nerd I also think the concept is just cool as hell, and I wish I could convince others that it's cool as hell!

15 questions, 15 tags
i was tagged by my dear @unclewaynemunson :)) thank you lovely!
(also please excuse my lengthy answers, i get really excited and write a lot lmfao- and some of the answers vaguely mention shitty parenting, not in depth but it is brought up if anyone gets uncomfy by that! (questions 2 & 3 specifically :p)
1. Are you named after anyone? nope! my Government Name™️ is amethyst, like the stone, but my ma just thought it was cool :p i prefer aj or ham, though! i do say that aj stands for apple juice, so i guess i could be named after apple juice :pp
2. When was the last time you cried? friday! i heard really sad news regarding how my younger brothers are being parented by my biodad and it! hurt to realize he's not breaking his cycle :,)
3. Do you have kids? nope! but i do treat my oldest younger brother(the 18yo i write about a lot) like he's my son bc we had some Rough Moments™️ as kids where i was like the parent
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? yes! but a lot of people don't realize it #thankyouautism
5. What's the first thing you notice about people? oooo,,,,,, it really depends? i really stare at people's lips bc i have auditory processing issues,, and apparently i recognize people based on their mouths?? but im inclined to say eyes because i like them? idk,,, lips or eyes!
6. What's your eye color? i have centralized heterochromia! (like a big portion of people tbh, but i still think it's neat) so my eyes are like,, hazel? but not green hazel, they're grey! on the outside part at least, and the inside is like a golden brown :p
7. Scary movies or happy endings? this is hard!! i really fucking love scary movies,, all of my favorite movies are scary! but i'm a sucker for a happy ending,,, i think,,,, i may have to go scary though!
8. Any special talents? idk if it's a talent but i can macrame necklaces? and i know spanish(fairly fluently, i'm really shy with it though), and am learning asl, which i think is pretty talented?? i also can decorate a cake?(pretty basically, but i know how to do some shitty roses and write!)
9. Where were you born? chicago! (indiana tho, it's like 15 minutes away from where i was born)
10. What are your hobbies? writing, drawing, watching tv, engaging with my local bdsm & queer community!! and getting tattoos and piercings<333 (i have 27 tattoos and like,,, 17? 18 piercings? idk anymore)
11. Do you have any pets? yes! i have one cat, my sweet lady Miss Rizz! i had a cat named flamer who recently had to take his forever sleep, and i miss him dearly. <3 (i'm writing a fic vaguely surrounding this idea that hopefully will be done this weekend!)
12. What sports do you play/have you played? none :)))))) unless you count,,, fishing?
13. How tall are you? i'm 5'8! which is around 173cm for my non american buddies :,)))))
14. Favorite subject in school? languages! i took four years of spanish, one of asl, and i adored my english classes! also, art and painting! and anatomy & physiology, and pathophysiology :) i'm a big human body nerd lmao (also i'm aware i shouldve chosen one but i have too many favorites to choose just one!)
15. Dream job? good question! i'm not sure, honestly. i always say being a piercer, but i tend to get bored rather quickly of jobs and i change a lot, hence why i know how to decorate cakes but also can tell you which alarm companies have a better monitoring service, and can also make a mean ass from-scratch smash burger. i think that when i went to college(i dropped out) my dream job was being a pathologist, and i honestly think that i might still want to do that? but owning a queer run/servicing primarily queer people piercing studio sounds really fucking enticing. i could go on a whole thing about body affirming piercing and the effect it has on queer people, and how we have modern day american piercing thanks to our queer predecessors, but that's nerdy and not what the question asked! so, final answer: either a pathologist, or an owner of a queer piercing shop :p
thank you so much for reading if you did!
i'm gonna tag @cheatghost @punkharringtxn @someforeignband @courtjestermunson @corrodedcorpses @riality-check @rhaenyyras @legitcookie @princessstevemunson @sidekick-hero @babygirlharrington @fagsculinity @harmonictechnicality @strawberryspence and anyone else who wants to do this! you can tag me <3

9, 13, 17 (multimuse meme)
| asks for muns with a multimuse or more than one muse | 9. why were you drawn to each one of your characters?
Tumblr media
◇ This is bout to get long, strap in! (also only doing muses on this blog otherwise we'd be here all day)
Tumblr media
Sissel - For spoilers reasons, I really can't say much but Gh.st trick is literally one of the best games ever I will die on this hill please please PLEASE play this game! They've remastered it to nearly all main modern consoles as well as Steam and I love it when REDACTED and then it turns out REDACTED was REDACTED and gosh!
But Sissel is hilarious and the 'straight man' of the comedy which is lots of fun. He's got a good sense of justice, is clever, caring, and is a ghost! I really like stories that explore/play with how an afterlife may work. I really find his Ghost Tricks neat and how they can do so much yet still have plenty of limitations. I really wish I could say more here but I can't without spoiling the whole game but he's a good banana-head guy, trust me ; )
Tumblr media
The Reader - Hello more characters from obscure games I love! They are the playable character from Supergi.nt games' Pyre! And while they are kind of a blank slate for you, the player to get to choose how you wish to have them act and whatnot there are multiple times in the story where you can build your own backstory of your Reader how you wish.
Pyre is such an underrated game of Supergi.nt's and the world of it is so intriguing. I was drawn the backstory you can choose where the Reader is an orphan due to their country's generations-long feud with their neighbors and is a scholar who committed the 'sin' of owning books and being literate when the country's government had banned any form of literacy and even the old language (English) long ago. They are exiled for this great 'sin' to an inhospitable land underneath the dropoff of a massive waterfall. I just really like how much they are the glue to the little band of exiles you join together with to try and regain your alls freedom. They aren't a fighter, they physically can't be due to their disabilities, but their guidance more than makes up for it. I also really like how they go from just some nobody exile to trying to change their entire country.
Tumblr media
The Voice / Archjustice Androblees IX - Also from Pyre (the faceclaim is not) look- every multi-use needs the one asshole muse ok? This is mine. He's an overdramatic sportscaster who's always narrating your life and roasting you every second of the way! I just find that neat and fun c:
I do think there are more complex things going on too but we don't get to see much of it in the game so we can only speculate for most of it but he went from being REDACTED to this so there must have been something that caused the change.
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan - I'm a sucker for deeply hurting characters who hide it all behind a smile : ). Though he's also very cool and the focus on him in the Luofu chapter of HSR certainly helps, he had a lot of cool moments and scenes. But also has range and is a funny eepy lion man. I appreciate the duality. I am so normal about him and his friendship with the HCQ and how it all fell apart : ")

Lady - She's so cool TwT and cute and badass. And actually has a great character arc (at least in 3 which she was one of the main characters I'd say where the rest are more side appearances). She taught Dante to give a damn (honestly dmc3 wouldn't have happened the way it did without her) and hauls around a freaking rocket launcher to fight demons with despite being pure human fighting alongside superpowered demons! What more could you want in a gal? Oh, and has family trauma too so that's fun : ")
13. what’s a weird headcanon you have for each of your muses?
◇ Define 'weird'. Hmm.
For Sissel this isn't weird given REDACTED but he finds it a lot of fun to push things off tables with his ghost tricks.
The Reader is such a book nerd I think they sometimes go to a library and take home more than they can carry resulting in them embarrassingly having to take some back in moments later.
The Archjustice is certainly over-dramatizing his voice when presiding over the rites and loves every second of it.
Jing Yuan sometimes cuts his hair short but it just grows back really fast so the shock doesn't last long to those who know him.
Lady sometimes shoots at Dante when he's being extra annoying--she misses on purpose but it's just to spook him.
17. do your muses get along with each other?
The Reader and Archjustice are at odds at each other during Pyre so definitely no there. No one gets along with Archjustice because he's a bastard. Sissel doesn't like being around Lady due to all the killing and death, but would be ok to hang out with the Reader but... he can't read though so they don't have much in common unless Reader could teach him. Jing Yuan would get along with everyone but Archjustice and would probably like talking with the Reader a lot and fighting alongside Lady (the feeling would be mutual). Lady would be freaked out by Sissel's existence, things are supposed to die not become ghosts! She'd think the Reader is an accident waiting to happen with how easily they allow people to approach them yet physically aren't able to defend themselves.

Which Super do you think it’d be fun to see Duke partner with for an adventure? I’m thinking Cir-El, cuz she’d be messy and ridiculous. Or Kenan, for similar reasons.
Assuming this is Jax (heh, sorry if its not, I just associate @co-superman with all Super fam asks), I'm not familiar enough with all the Super characters to have a strong opinion on this one over all....though I DO like Cir-El and think she could be a fun choice and just deserves more spotlight in general. She's a total drama queen and proud of it, and in general I don't think nearly enough of the Superfam lean into their potential as messy, dramatic disasters. Whereas Cir-El is like oh, the Batfamily did WHAT now? Hold my beer. I'll show them 'messy.'
That said, my love of Chris Kent must be noted, as well as my ire that the New 52 basically erased the version of Chris that was Clark and Lois' doted-upon adopted son.....and also worth mentioning is the fact that the key difference between pre-Flashpoint Chris and the New 52 version of Lor-Zod....is that Zod and his son Lor are now black. And villainous. (I mean obviously Zod was always a villain I'm just saying his son never had a villainous bone in his body until they reintroduced a black version of him and were like no heroism detected. That was definitely A Choice).
Soooooo I would not mind them revisiting Lor-Zod and giving him some much-needed nuance and perhaps blending the two versions of Chris/Lor in various ways....and I think Duke and any version of Chris could be a really interesting friendship.
I've actually written drabbles about Duke being friends with the pre-Flashpoint version of Chris Kent and I think the same basis could apply to him and a more heroic version of Lor being friends, so its not like its 'who are the black members of the Superfam, for Duke to be friends with' - I think that's a totally valid parameter for picking what characters to explore Duke's dynamics with, for the record, but it is one of those things that's gonna look different depending on WHO is using that as their parameter. Like me as a white person using that parameter is different from black fans going 'I just want Duke to have dynamics with characters who aren't white,' so I just want to note that distinction. For instance, I think Natasha Irons and Duke would totally respect each other, but I don't necessarily think they'd seek each other out as friends (but gimme a Natasha and Cass friendship omg I'd be so there.)
Sidebar, I have this headcanon that Cass just has a 'thing' for characters who are so passionate about a subject or hobby they hyper-fixate and it like, consumes every ounce of their attention and interest so basically all their body language is saying is different 'phrases' that are all just variations of 'omg this is so cool how can I express how much this is literally just the coolest thing ever let me count the ways.' Like I just think that's the sort of Mood that Cass is just like "I just think that's neat" in regards to, so I can totally see Natasha nerding out about some new invention or discovery of hers, and meanwhile Cass is just perched somewhere, watching intently with her head propped in her hands and making affirming noises at the appropriate intervals like no, tell me more, you're so right bestie and also pay no attention to the Giant Crush coming from my corner of the room, shhh, we're talking about your Invention, please continue.
Now, back to Duke, and with all THAT said, I do also want to note that one of the least explored but most interesting aspects of Duke's POWERS, specifically, is that thing he does where he's inherently like a Blue Lantern power ring (callback to my 'one of Duke's ancestors is the Blue Lantern version of Alan Scott, someone embodying the power of one of the emotional spectrum hues without being a ring-bearer' theory). But Duke's established as having an amplifier effect on the power of any and all superhumans in his vicinity....but to the best of my knowledge, we've only seen this with people with DC's metagene, so far? So I am curious to know if Duke's presence and aura could supercharge a Kryptonian's powers, but again, this is the kind of story beat that would come across VERY differently if Duke were just being utilized as a passive power-up for a white Kryptonian character, versus another black character being the one to benefit from this aspect of his powers in their version of a Superbat friendship.
Anyway, that's my long and rambling sorta-answer, thanks for the question!

hey! i just read the new LMT mini chapter and i love the wolf AU concept. if you even want to post a full AU of that I’d def read it!! Love the body language it’s really accurate 😍 if you never end up doing it that’s perfectly fine! your comfort is the most important 💕💕 hope you’re having a good day
Ahhh I meannn I'm thinking about it so maybe D:
Mostly because I did spend like a week rabbit-hole laser focusing on wolf documentaries and research when I first started working on that... (Anndd then ignored most the facts about dynamics and behaviour just so I could do whatever I wanted with it lol) and in general I really just liked writing the wolfishness. You saying that I got the body language right is like the sweetest pat pat pat on the head after nerding over the research for so long, so I'm like hmmm...
I'll have another think and see how much work it'd be to wrap it up in a neat way.
(I'm currently like 1234 hours in writing a rogue Liam/Nat...thing, so I'll keep going with that first, at least until my body gives up or something lmao)
Thank you for reading the mini though! And for writing to mee! I appreciate it so mucho<3

I wasn't tagged by anyone but I stole it off my dash because I want to do it lol
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Only sixteen but I'm no where near done
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
an absolutely bonkers 98,955 (i'm a half a oneshot away from 100,00?!?!?!?! what the fuck) (and not to brag but I'm currently polishing something that'll be a minimum of 60k)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently Stranger Things. There's some MCU on my ao3 because first and foremost I'll always be Bruce Banner trash
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Boyfriend Test - ADA Version
From the Top, Make it Drop
Legally Speaking
It Was a Long Time Coming (Broken Arms and Healed Hearts)
Mountains, Molehills, and Other Such Problems; A Guide on How to Stop Your Nerd Boyfriend From Rambling by Steve Harrington
The first fic has more kudos than three, four, and five combined. Also, I need to (again) pat myself on the back for the naming of number 5. A bitch to type out but I love it so much.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I struggle with what to type back to comments that are just the heart emoji but yeah, I eventually respond to them all. I wanna make friends and have cool fandom people and that doesn't happen being silent. Plus I'm so grateful people loved what I wrote enough to leave any comment at all.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't think there's an angsty fic in there, let alone an angsty ending.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
While I think they all have happy endings, maybe The Boyfriend Test - ADA Version has the happiest??? I think. feel free to tell me I'm wrong lol
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no, i've not gotten any hate. things I wouldn't call positive sure but no hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I tired once recently and it did not receive good reviews so I'll stick to what I know for now. Too many ideas to hone a craft lol
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
to go with what I've said above, I think I have too many ideas. I did see a post about an Amazing Race AU and the thought of writing that will not leave my brain. That'd be a crossover right?? If so there's probably one on deck but nothing currently published.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i don't think so
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I haven't. I don't think i'm big name enough for that but wow would it be so neat. i support this for any and all of my works if anyone wants.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no. i had someone who wanted me to but it didn't end up working out, unfortunately. I've always done the roleplay side of fandom/tumblr so I feel I'd be primed for it. The vibes would just have to be right.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
The OTP of all time?? Bruce Banner and Randall Jessup. The amount of times I've given the powerpoint presentation on this ship and helped people see the light, I can't not answer this. I wanna say something cooler, something more well known, steddie even but I think it has to go to those nerds.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The thing I refer to as my big fic would have to be the answer right? I mean, I want to think I'll finish it. I believe in it so hard and I think it just needs a bit of help but as it stands now, it's the considered abandoned and I don't want it to be.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Slice of life stuff. Banter. Comedy.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
All the cool stuff like pirates and demons and smut
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Don't use google translate?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
BBC Sherlock
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I think I'd either have to totally agree with my kudos graph and say The Boyfriend Test - ADA Version or completely disagree and say For a Bountiful Harvest (and Reprieve From Social Circles)

You know how I said I'm back on my Pokemon bullshit?
The internet's working well enough to watch episodes on my phone if I don't mind it freezing every now and again!
Yesterday it was letting me joltingly watch short youtube clips. I found a site that seems to be loading quite well though! And apparently there's new Misdreavus content in the newest season, so, you know. Hyperfixation mode, ACTIVATE!
I'm gonna ramble a little, okay? Okay.
I'm being a total Ghost Pokemon nerd and smiling at the Gengar (the voice acting for the Pokemon in this season is really good actually, still says their names but sounds a bit more animalistic and they have LOTS of personality!), also grimacing at the guy who abandoned it and said nothing but bad things happened when he had it, and I'm not gonna lie, the story of abandonment and ghosts being blamed for someone's bad luck are really close to my heart because I've invested a lot of emotion in a story like that with my fanfiction.
(The Misdreavus I gave my trainersona was abandoned and the Mismagius has a serious Problem^tm with the way humans treat her species. And humans in general really, which also probably softened my heart to this particular episode, which also involves character developement for the Gengar on not trusting humans... I got legitimately Mad about that trainer. Nexus mode activated too, apparently.)
Makes me wonder though. That Gengar was Very powerful, they made a point of both showing And telling that. How did it get so strong with a trainer that said he couldn't win battles while he had it? Was it already powerful before he captured it?
Fun canonical tidbit though that ghosts besides Mismagius can curse humans, so that's fun.
And the way Misdreavus is animated in this season is so fun??? Both the "hair" and the "dress" twirling around constantly, that's neat! (And the little sparkle in those eyes I adore so much!) I mean, having spent the vast majority of my life around animals, I already have a sort of default Writing Mode with Creatures Being Expressive and like. Alive. I played so much Pokemon Stadium 2 and Pokemon Battle Revolution, and also played with Misdreavus so much in Pokemon Amie and Refresh, that my brain defaults to imagining them flowing and waving anyways. Despite how the anime and movies have them just... static and sliding around. I imagine, for a levitating ghost type, they emote through body language that is also affected by the way they flutter around!
Why yes, I HAVE thought about this very deeply for 15 years, how can you tell? ;P
Seriously though, writing Pokemon emoting has always been one of my greatest strengths with that fanfiction. And that was a fact well before Amie!!!
Also, sidenote, note to self: I need to slip in something about Jess hearing of a haunted Pokemon lab at some point. Maybe. I tried keeping count of how long the Gengar was waiting and I THINK I counted three years, and there are boyfriend-instigated plans to meet up with Ash n co a la Sinnoh Seasons later in the fic, so I have to figure out if I'm going to care about the timelines on that in regards to Ash's canon... Probably not though.

*holds the microphone up to Cookie* For the ask game -Joel
1) How did you get your name?
Tumblr media
2) Age?
Tumblr media
Late 30s early 40s
3) Height?
Who's to say? Taller than Nate. I don't know if I'm taller than Jay. This is all pretendsies anyway. Might change my mind later.
4) Are you nonhuman?
Nope!
6) Favorite colour?
Orange.
7) What languages can you speak? Does the body know them?
English and basic Spanish. Same for us actually.
8) What's something you consider yourself good at?
At the moment I excel at thinking too much and making myself sad. My biggest flaw is I'm a perfectionist! In five years I hope to see myself still alive.
9) Any foods you'd like to try?
No 🧡 I'm a boxed in bitch. In my comfort zone and thriving. On my autism game. (Chuck says he wants to go to a Margaritaville but I know we wouldn't eat seafood so it'd just be for the ambiance 😒)
10) Do you have a playlist for yourself? What's the most 'you' song on it? How long is the playlist?
Both Award Show and Stress by Jim's Big Ego are very me. I also like the band Cheekface.
11) Are you a subsystem?
No.
12) Coke or pepsi?
Diet Coke.
13) For Fictives: Would you recommend others watch/read/ect your source?
Can't be much worse than the current fans. Go nuts.
14) Do you have an inner world? Anything neat go on there?
We just woke up again after having a system reset so there's not much complexity right now. I have an apartment though. It sucks shit.
15) How does being a system affect you in everyday life?
As a girl it made me mysterious and therefore irresistible to socially inept and emotionally unstable nerds that projected their ideas of what I was onto me. As a man it makes my clothing style difficult to categorize and financially unfeasible.
16) Are you open about it?
I've told a couple people. It feels very important to us, it's a big part of who we are and it hurts to not be seen as ourselves, but when we've told people it hurts more to see the confusion or disinterest. So we don't talk about it usually.
17) Anything you carry with you to help feel more like yourself?
Our main way of expressing ourselves is by dressing as ourselves so clothes.
18) If you could change the body at all, would you? Howso?
I'd want to have my voice but. I don't know about other people. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing anything permanent, knowing I'm just a renter.
19) Does your gender or sexuality differ from your "singletsona" at all?
We're a trans guy, but I'm a cis guy. Honestly a lot of us are cis men so that translates to transitioning to male. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
20) Favorite song in general?
Award Show or Stress.
21) Tell a random fact about yourself
I'm brand new! I just woke up! I'm scared of going away forever! Just alter things!
