Could I request a yandere alphabet for Nagito Komaeda?
Wow! All the rest of them at once? Well I didn't put a limit I suppose!
Nagito Komaeda Remaining Yandere Alphabet
Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?
So fucking intensely Nagito Komaeda can not do things in halves. He is constantly leaving gifts and love letters and trying to have conversations. Once you're living with him he's even more lovey with constantly cooking food and basically willing to reshape his entire house to whatever whim his angel might have next. He's rich after all! Why shouldn't he do literally everything he can for you!
Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?
Negatively, sighing about how its so beautiful to see their hope but how they're going about it all wrong. He'd try and talk you down at first with those sharp words of his, but if that doesn't work Komaeda is stronger then he looks. He will grab you and force you to stop if he must, such despair.
Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?
Definitely anything that involves physical violence, Komaeda is completely willing to start chopping off limbs if he gets pushed too far. All while he babbles about how it's for their own good and the hope it will give them for pushing through this despair will be so amazing.
Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?
He thinks other people are after his angel's hope, wanting to take it, snuff it out, hurt them. He can't abide it, no one else deserves this hope! So he does his best to isolate you for your own good.
Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?
Extremely sweet and loving, practically worshipping them and always keeping some form of contact with them. He wants their hope so badly, he wants them to smile. He's shy about initiating affection though, he is scum after all, is scum like him really allowed to kiss an angel's cheek?
Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?
Komaeda is a lot more dominating when alone, while he tends to make himself small and obedient in public but in reality, Nagito is in charge. Sure he voices it like how it's in service to his angel, but at the end of the day he decides your meals, he decides your clothing, he decides when you wake up, he is in charge. For his angel's own good of course.
Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?
So many rights, he gets final say in everything, he may make it sound like you have a choice, but you never do. The best you'll get is a nice room and good food, but beyond that, it's up to Nagito.
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
Incredibly patient, Nagito has no problem waiting, but even his patience isn't limitless. Try to not push him too hard or he may think he needs to do something drastic.
Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?
The despair would break Komaeda hard, but eventually, he would recover, all despair leads to hope, and if this is the biggest despair of his life, then it'll, it'll bring him an even greater hope! He has to believe that!
Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?
Yes, but it had to be done so he doesn't regret it. His angel needed to be brought in and protected and nurtured! Sure it feels wrong for scum like him to take care of someone so ultimate like that, but it's his duty! He just wishes they'd understand it's for their own good!
Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?
Trauma for the most part, he sees himself as someone in service to a greater good and is used to great tragedy. As such he needs to protect himself by smothering the object of his affection to make sure they too do not leave him.
Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
He doesn't like it, he tries to comfort them or explain what's going on but will sigh it's of no use and will leave until they've calmed down. Likely bringing them some nice tea to give them to help them relax. Isolating yourself is impossible though, he is always there and while he respects your privacy but as your caretaker he is in charge y'know, he will go into your room whether you like it or not.
Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?
Komaeda is Rich Rich Rich, he is much more likely to buy someone off then to actually engage in the more bloody side himself. He basically has infinite money, why not bribe everyone around you to make it easier for you to fall into his hands?
Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?
His luck cycle is your best bet, but good luck figuring out how to utilize it. Best bet is hoping he gets bad luck that loses you without killing you. Beyond that if you play into his Hope obsession you might be able to make an opening but it'll be nasty if he finds out you're faking.
Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?
Immense worship, his angel is EVERYTHING, he will do ANYTHING.
Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?
A year or so to build up the obsession after which point they'll start heavily inserting himself into his angel's life.
Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?
Yes, if they just refused to ever obey or bend to his will, eventually he will purposefully break his angel as much as he can so he can build them back up into true perfect pliant Hope. Do not push him to this point.

Trans made TTRPGs
Due to… recent events that I would rather not talk about, today's post is a highlight of different tabletop games made by trans peeps! These games are fantastic in their own right, of course, but you can also know that they were made by incredibly cool and attractive people
(Also, these are flyover descs of the game, they'll get more in-depth singular posts later, this is because I am lazy)
Perfect Draw is a phenomenal card game TTRPG that was funded in less than a day on backerkit, it's incredibly fun and has simple to learn hard to master rules for creating custom cards, go check it out!
Songs for the dusk is fucking good, pardon my language, but it's a damn good post apocalyptic game about building community in a post-capitalist-post-apocalypse-post-whatever world. do yourself a favor and if you only check out one game in this list, check this one out, its a beautiful game.
Flying Circus is set in a WW1 inspired fantasy setting full of witches, weird eldritch fish people (who are chill as hell), cults, dead nobility, and other such things. It's inspired by Porco Rosso primarily but it has other touchstones.
Wanderhome is a game about being cute little guys going on a silly adventure and growing as the seasons change, its GMless and very fun

Kitchen Knightmares is… more of a LARP but its still really dang cool, its about being a knight serving people in a restaurant, its played using discord so its incredibly accessible

Apocalypse Keys is also here because its published by Evilhat so its very cleaned up and fancy but I love how the second you check out the dev's other stuff you can tell they are a lot more experimental with their stuff, this is not a critique, it is in fact a compliment
Fellowship! I've posted about this game before, but it is again here. Fellowship has a fun concept that it uses very well mostly, its a game about defining your character's culture, and I think that's really really cool
Voidheart Symphony is a really cool game about psychic rebellion in a city that really does not like you, the more you discover for yourself the better
Panic at the Dojo is a phenomenal ttrpg based on what the Brazilian would call "Pancadaria", which basically means, fucking other's people shit up. Character Creation is incredibly open and free, meaning that many character concepts are available
Legacy 2e is a game about controlling an entire faction's choices across time, its very fun

This is going to be a very long list of all my favorite CodyWan fics that are completed. Later on today or tomorrow I'll make another list for all of the CodyWan fics I enjoy that are currently ongoing/incomplete (because we, in fandom, need to start supporting authors during the writing process instead of only after, but that's a whole other post).

Hey lovelies! Today's been amazing! Definitely been a lot of engagement and we're getting to celebrate our lovely captain!
Soooo many people signed the 50th birthday Kudoboard that ended tonight ( and the Taika Kudoboard that ended yesterday). So many crewmates stepped out of their comfort zone and put themselves out there, and I just want to say how proud of you I am. I know it's hard to put yourself out there in case you can get hurt, but you still did it for the good of something / someone you love, and you should be proud of that!
I hope you're getting some joy out of these days. I know it can be a bit of a double edged sword because we miss Stede and Ed and the whole Revenge crew so much. It's reminding a lot of folks of the gravy basket.
Just a gentle reminder that things aren't over. Even if we're not fighting full force right now-- it's not over. It'll never be over. So many people are behind us, and so many other shows have gotten renewed later, sometimes years laters. I know you've heard it all before, but this isn't the end.
If you feel up for it, take these days that are for celebrating, and even if you do it just with yourself, do something to celebrate the things and people you love. If you're feeling alone and have discord, feel free to join us on the #RhysDarbyFaction server tomorrow. We'll be doing a lot of group stuff to try and keep some of the love going. I often come up with ideas or scenes that seem like a perfect fit for my story, but I’m not able to write them down. By the time I am able to write it down, I’ve forgotten it, and what I do remember lacks that spark that had me so excited in the first place.
Do you have any tips for remembering/keeping ideas fresh in your mind?
Keeping Ideas Fresh in Your Mind
This is the age old struggle for writers... you'll always get your best ideas when you're driving, showering, having a cavity filled, or waiting for a funeral to start.
Sadly, there's just really not a lot you can do about it, and how much you can do depends on the situation and what's available to you. If you're able to focus on the idea long enough to repeat it several times in your head, you're going to have a better chance of remembering it later. And there are some memorization techniques I'll share in a minute that can help with that. However, if you're doing something that requires your full attention--like listening to a lecture in class or paying attention to a customer's concerns, you obviously can't do that. And in that case, the best thing you can do is write the idea down as soon as you possibly can. Even if you just write down a snippet every second you can, that's better than nothing.
If you're driving home, cleaning, making dinner, bathing your kids, or something else that allows you to use a phone app while you're doing something else, you might look for an audio note taking app. You could even video yourself talking about the idea if all else failed.
Another option would be to call a trusted friend or family member who might have a few minutes free to jot the idea down for you and e-mail or text it to you.
Some memorization techniques to try if you have the ability to focus on the idea for a few minutes:
-- repeat the idea several times
-- break the idea down into key points that are easier to remember
-- turn your idea into an "elevator pitch"
-- turn the idea into a song
-- use a mnemonic
-- cast the characters with favorite actors and imagine the scene playing out on TV or in a movie

Oh fuck there's a terf in my notes! What can I do?
1. Flag on shinigami eyes browser extension. You've probably heard of this, but it's free, available on desktop. Also available on firefox mobile I think. Has been used to improperly flag people before. Trust but verify.
2. Look through "Blogs like this one" to break the reblog chains and effectively block a whole circle of them. You could also just look through who they're reblogging from.
3. Have a quick scroll for any posts that are reportable. This takes a lot more time than the other steps, but if enough people report them, and if you're reporting something that breaks tumblr's guidelines, then their account could get taken down. Win.
4. Lastly, block.
OR Block first and save yourself the psychic damage.
If you're on mobile, you could block first and go back later on desktop, finding them in your blocked tumblrs list, to do the rest.
Do not interact! Do not send anons!
Don't even give them that. Just flag, report, block, move on.
Movements don't go anywhere in silence.
Please know that there aren't actually that many of them.
I've noticed from going through so many, and from how they interact in my notes... I don't want to say too much because I'm starting to feel like someone's going to read this eventually. But it can be pretty clear that they have multiple accounts. Some of them are making this their full-time jobs. Just sitting on the computer and finding trans people to bully. It's pathetic and sad.
If you block all of them, they just... stop existing. Because it's a small group of people. But they do make new accounts once too many people have blocked them, every... 3-9 months? Or, I imagine, once they start to notice that the site feels empty to them and they've been blocked by too many people?
It's easy to block enough of them, but I do recommend setting aside some time to do this.
I also recommend taking care of your mental health afterwards.
When I encounter a block list from someone else, I always check out the blog before blocking, because tools like these can be used against us as well. Shinigami eyes has been used to incorrectly mark trans people before. Trust but verify. No tool is perfect. So I'm assuming you're going to check some of these blogs out too, because that's what I would do.
Set some time aside to take care of yourself afterwards please.

How to put these in your blocklist quickly
The way I do it uses desktop and your phone at the same time. Or 2 tabs on desktop. The second part is to reference the usernames or look them up.
Click on your own profile picture icon and on the right hand side of the screen should be this:
Click on "blog settings" at the bottom. You'll be brought to a new screen, where you'll scroll all the way to the bottom, and see this:
Click on the writing thing there and then you'll finally see your block list:
I'll find this post and reblog with more of them whenever I find them.

Hi! I really want to read the vulgate cycle but I have a hard time staying focused when reading it. Are there any sections of the vulgate that are not as important to the understanding or able to skip? Thank you so much for making all these stories accessible and thanks for your reply :))
Hello my friend! This is a great question and one I get a lot. The Vulgate Cycle is long and daunting, but I can help you navigate it!
Firstly, here is the full Vulgate Cycle PDF collection for everyone to read. Secondly, I'll summarize what you can do, and elaborate below a cut.
TL;DR
If reading a PDF, use CTRL+F to find your favorite character's name/stories.
If reading a physical copy, utilize the index (located at the very end of the Post Vulgate) to find them.
Discover chapters of interest from the summary page (also located at the very end of the Post Vulgate).
Skip The History of the Holy Grail and begin with The Story of Merlin or Lancelot I.
Now, let's break down the ways you can navigate the Vulgate Cycle step by step.
CTRL+F
This option will certainly be less effective if your favorite character is a prominent one such as Lancelot or Gawain as they appear a million times. However, if you want to learn more about someone else, say, the Lady of the Lake, you can search her up and find every instance of her appearance. Like so.
Index
In the very back of the final book of the Post Vulgate, there's an Index listing every named character [Ex: Gawain], location [Ex: Orkney Isles], entity [Ex: Holy Spirit], animal [Ex: Gringalet the horse], and language [Ex: Hebrew] mentioned in the entirety of the Vulgate Cycle. There you'll find a list of which book/chapter/page they appear in. Here are all the mentions of Gawain's horse in The Book of Merlin.
Chapter Summaries
Each book of the Vulgate Cycle has a Table of Contents with the chapter numbers and long, descriptive titles. That alone may give you an indication of what you want to read. However, at the back of the Post Vulgate, right before the Index, there's a list of every chapter in the Vulgate Cycle with a summary of events. That will give you more detail and may help you decide if you want to read in full.
Skip
If it sucks, hit da bricks. The beauty of the Vulgate Cycle is that you don't need The History of the Grail or The Book of Merlin to understand what comes later. I enjoy them because History gives a ton of background to the religious themes the Grail Quest will eventually explore and sets up all the motifs way in advance and Merlin has the Orkney Bros as well as Yvain and Sagramore as kids which is fun. But the fact is you can begin with Lancelot I and you won't be lost. Lancelot I was written first, Merlin is a prequel, so it's optional, and the motifs of the Grail Quest are going to be heavy handed when you get there anyway without the added stuff from History. That's hundreds of pages you can skip if you want to! Norris J. Lacy, the head editor, and his translation team did a phenomenal job with footnotes throughout, so if a character off-handedly refers back to something, you can rely on them to leave a little note at the bottom for you to refresh your memory with. It'll even give you a chapter/page number if you want to refer back yourself. Here's a footnote referring to Agravaine's unnamed amie [his ladylove] who helped wing woman her sister to romance Gawain. That was 4 chapters prior to this moment.
So there are plenty of ways to navigate the Vulgate Cycle and make it more digestible. That being said, it's translated so beautifully by Lacy and his team, that it reads like a modern novel. I have no doubt that once you get started, you'll become invested, and find it much easier to work through than you first thought. It's long-winded and character dense but it's fun. Some of you guys will now unfollow me for this, but hey atleast I got it out sooner then later!
I'm pro-ship, your media illiteracy and general disrespect to grooming victims like me is insane, all over pixels on screen, you guys say fiction effects reality but have a HUGE revenge complex despite fiction over and over depicting it as a bad thing, its almost as if fiction doesn't have effect on morality like you think it does...
Not to mention, your "DNI problematic sources" list is full of things that are full of autistic, disabled, disordered, poc and queer communities, who are more likely to expirience any sort of abuse in real life!
But things like Game Of Thrones I fail to see in any of those lists despite having incest in it on full blast- maybe cuz the whole community liking it tends to be cishet non-disabled white folk, its like you guys spesifically want to harm people weaker then you and bully real victims of abuse just for fun- oh yeah, cuz thats exactly what you do.
Big corporation makes something problematic? You complain about it for maybe 1-2 posts and then forget it, small artist made by a kid who has maybe 30 followers max and draws enemies to lovers? You make a blog dedicated to harrassing them till they literally end their life.
Antishippers are not some sort of heroes, you are the abusers, HELL, i literally got GROOMED BY AN ANTISHIPPER!!!
You guys DO realize that actual real pedos walk in the shadows, right? sure you got the few fools- but even proshippers kick them out, so what do you think actual pedos will do, go to the group where they are less trusted by default due to all the rumors and bs, as well as most proshippers being victims themself and knowing how to detect people who dont keep that in fiction, OR, the group where you simply gotta make one post saying "omg they drew a cookie with a croptop" and everyone trusts you arent fucked up- especially with the idea that antishippers are anti-pedophilia so OBVIOUSLY no pedo would use that against anyone! Manga-related:
Manga character info page: that page that appears at the beginning of each volume of the manga. Very short. Does not change over time (with one exception), so sometimes it doesn't highlight the character's main personality trait…
Manga character info page (a La Mode): Same as above, but for a La Mode. Only appears in volume 2. (Note: Re-Turn does not have one of these)
A La Mode Intro Boxes: the little character bio charts that Berry and Tasuku get in A La Mode chapter 1
PS game manual: manual from the PS game. Contains the most direct ages for all characters and the only info on game-exclusive characters.
2002 Anime-related:
Profile stickers: square stickers with a picture of the girl on the front and a little chart of character info on the back. Comes in 2 distinct styles: One with a headshot of the character inside a heart on the front and the back printed in the character's theme color, and the other with a sparkly full-body shot + closeup of their head on the front and the back printed in red/hot pink.
2002 Anime Fanbook: artbook/fan guide for the original anime. Character pages have 2 taglines, a short bio, and a chart containing information similar to the stickers. Not well edited, so there's some inconsistent formatting/punctuation.
2002 Anime Insert from the TMM New Artbook: small section on the original anime within the New season 1 artbook. Character pages have a tagline, a short bio, and a chart containing information almost identical to the 2002 fanbook. The text for the bios are similar to the 2002 fanbook, but with more kanji and some editing for consistent style.
TMM New-related:
TMM New website character page: page on the official TMM site that has designs, birthdays, and short bios for all major characters. The one source that lists Seiji as a major character.
TMM New season 1 artbook: artbook with background information on season 1 of New. Only contains info on what appears in season 1, but the 2002 insert has spoilers for that whole series. Character pages have a tagline and a short bio which is very similar but not identical to the bio from the website.
If you want to see some of my thoughts on the info here + interesting changes/differences I noticed, that's below the cut!
It's obvious the original anime was aimed at kids and the new one is aimed at adults because sources related to the original manga and anime use lots of kana instead of kanji and have furigana on all kanji they do use. New-related sources use way more kanji and have no furigana.
Possibly related to this, older TMM stuff tends to use ミュウプロジェクト (Mew Project) vs New, which uses 「μ」プロジェクト (μ Project).
The original TMM fanbook has spotty editing which is especially visible in the charts. There's lots of small inconsistencies, like some words being spelled slightly differently (e.g., らっきょ instead of らっきょう for Pudding's least favorite food) and punctuation being inconsistent between the girls (e.g., items in lists being separated by interpuncts ・ except for Pudding's special skills, where it's inexplicably a comma 、). The biggest, most glaring issue is actually with a section I'll be posting slightly later, but I'll go ahead and list it here too: out of all official sources, the TMM Fanbook is the ONLY one who lists the Mew Mews' attacks as begining with リボン (ribon) instead of リボーン (riboon). This would be conclusive evidence in the Ribbon/Reborn debate if I didn't have the suspicion it's just a typo no one double-checked…
The stickers are in a slightly weird place continuity-wise since they have anime art on the front but refer to some manga-only information on the girls (e.g., Pudding having a pet monkey).
Speaking of the monkey, apparently at the time the stickers were coming out, Mia Ikumi had yet to finalize Annin's name, since here the monkey is called Mapo (i.e., mapo tofu)
The sticker bios have some otherwise-unseen info on character backstories: specifically, we find out that Mint's dad is a CEO and her mom runs a school, Zakuro's father is a producer and her mother is a model, and that Keiichirou is an orphan taken in by the Shiroganes at age 14. Also, apparently Ryou lives in the room above the cafe and Keiichirou lives in the secret basement.
Keiichirou seems to get way more impressive intros as time goes on. The manga bio comically undersells him, calling him "a waiter", and the PS game book only calls out his cooking skills, although Masha's bio drops the bomb that Keiichirou's the one who built him for Ryou. The 2002 fanbook mostly makes a point of how considerate he is, in contrast to the 2002 insert in the New artbook, where he's explicitly referred to as a researcher on cryptids/UMA. The New bios on the website and artbook go one step further and call him a "leading" researcher in the field!
Moe and Miwa's personalities seem to have changed or even reversed between the OG anime and New. Originally both Moe and Miwa are mostly defined by how they react to Ichigo. I.e., Ichigo says/does something weird (usually related to Mew Mew stuff or Aoyama), then Moe calls her out and Miwa either plays peacemaker or ends up joining in with Moe. So Moe snarky, Miwa gentler. New attempts to give them goals/personalities outside of this, so Moe becomes a "soothing" person with an interest in psychology and Miwa becomes a practical aspiring writer. I can only assume the writer thing is based on her writing Keiichirou a poem in the one episode where she and Moe get crushes on him and Shirogane, but I have no idea where Moe's career goal came from, much less how she became the "nice" one… I have to assume it's from her cutesy name??? Or maybe they thought that the one with blond curls looked "nicer/gentler" than the brunette with very short hair??? Weird.
The girls + Masaya (and Seiji, who is now in college so that he remains an older brother!) are aged up for New, but Ryou still seems to be the same age, which kind of makes the whole situation much funnier. Ichigo already had zero respect when he was slightly older, but now he's basically just one of her classmates. …of course, there's still room for him to be 16-17 instead of 15…
Sidenote: Ryou is consistently referred to as shonen/boy, which strikes me as funny despite making sense for his age. The narrator also doesn't respect him. Keiichirou gets seinen/young man, which trends a little older.
Ichigo gets referred to as ドジ (doji) in the '02 Fanbook which made me double-take since I'd usually associate it much more with Lettuce… I'd usually translate it to "clumsy", but in this case it's clearly going more for ditsy, flighty, disorganized, etc. so I went with "scatter-brained". The New bios do call Lettuceドジ, and I just used clumsy there.
Buling knowing kenpo/martial arts sure shows up more than I expected considering how little relevance it has to the actual show…
Zakuro, at least in the '02 anime, is supposed to be good with computers apparently! It shows up in her Fanbook bio as well as in one of the stickers (hobby: the internet). The internet being framed as a cool and mysterious thing for a smart character to know feels very 90s to early oughts, so maybe that's why it got dropped from her New characterization once everyone has smart phones… Saying someone's hobby is "the internet" reads more as neet or maybe influencer nowadays, as opposed to Cool Hacker or whatever. But I guess you could argue this is precedent for he inexplicable technological/manufacturing skills when she helps Minto make the prototype windmill thing?
In the stickers, there's a split between the Mew Mews favorite foods vs favorite sweet, but later on the sweets get lumped into favorite foods, which is how it's listed in the Fanbook and '02 Insert. But this does obscure the fact that Lettuce is the only one of them who just straight out has sweets as her favorite foods (shortcake, crepe cake), probably related to the fact that "cooking" and "making sweets" are listed as her special skills. 煮物/nimono (boiled or stewed food) is only added to her list of favorites in the Fanbook.
Weird that we never see Tasuku and Buling interact since he's explicitly compared to a monkey lmao.

Crowley dying in s3
I wasn't sure how to start this meta. I've had this theory with possible (big possible) evidence sitting around for ages and I just didn't know what to do with the information.
After I'd already had this information, I only seen a hand full of others talk about it, but none have touched on it in the same way as the things I've found in my research.
So let's get on with it. For reference I'm going to tag @nightingalecottage and their lovely post here. I really recommend reading it. This theory only saw the light of day because of their post and I told them I would tag them with my meta since it lends a lot to it. And I promised myself that I would finish this for them.
Now for the meat and potatoes. I'll break it all down about how I found this information and how it might lend some theory about possible plot to s3.
This got really long so I put a cut.

The facts were these.
To start I was doing research for a fic I'm working on and the details don't matter much but I'd planned to make my 'human' crowley a barrister. I was googling famous barristers for inspiration.
This lead me to wikipedia naturally as you do. And as I was looking over the list I saw this.
After seeing this name on the list of barristers in popular culture I had a mini freakout. Mainly because two things NG is a huge fan of Charles Dickens and A Tale of Two Cities is on the bookclub reading list. And I kept thinking why did this seem familiar and this is why.
A Tale of Two Cities is on the list of books that they recommend we read or were found in s2. So after I stopped freaking out I immediately went to the wiki page for this character. I wasn't too familiar with this book so I wanted to know more. As I was now super invested and intrigued. And found this.
Sydney Carton
I couldn't help be blown away by the similarities here between Sydney Carton and a certain depressed snake demon from s2. Morosely asking Shax on a bench in the first episode "What's the point of it all?"
For some context, in the novel Sydney Carton and his later best friend Charles Darnay share a striking semblance and are easily mistaken for each other. This is how Sydney is then able to make the switch with Darnay in the end saving his life.
This brings to mind of the lore that we know that Crowley and Aziraphale were once long ago one character and split into two. Also with the ideal casting choice that Terry Pratchett wanted one actor to play both roles. That would have been really interesting and funny. Also this plays into our favorite duo MS and DT having not worked together before because they were up for the same roles.
Let's move on to
Charles Darnay
Darnay resents his uncle's views much how Aziraphale resents certain aspects of heaven, but is never able to act on very much.
The note about Darnay being tutor of French made me chuckle considering what we know about Aziraphale being terrible at French. With that whole scene centered around it in s2.
Ok so we all are well versed and familiar with the famous Bastille scene. We all know the one and its clear the inspiration here for it comes from A Tale of Two Cities possibly.
Side note Darnay and Carton are both in love with Lucie here, but I posit that in the case of Good omens, Aziraphale is possibly both Darnay and Lucie. Making him the best friend and love intrest.

And finally why does any of this matter and what does this have to do with Crowley maybe dying in s3 you ask?
The one important detail in all of this is that at the end of the novel Carton heroically sacrificed himself to save his best friend and for the women he loves. He feels it gave him purpose and felt as if his life finally had meaning.
Two things here. The scene in which Carton swaps places with Darnay being able to pass as him well enough to save his life. Is very reminiscent of our Body Swap from s1. As well as the idea that in s3 this could also happen, but in the sense that Crowley does it to save Aziraphale's life. I clearly have no idea how s3 will play out.
Now I'm not saying that s3 will be as dramatic as all of this. It is still a comedy at its core. As others have touched on in meta and in nightingalecottage's post there are many little hints that point to the similarities and the idea that Crowley maybe doomed by the narrative. In a way, I personally don't think that Crowley's hypothetical death will be permanent. I just do not see that happening at all. A temporary death I could definitely see and it could also serve to show how much Crowley truly means to Aziraphale. The shock of it would maybe be similar to how Crowley thought he lost Aziraphale in s1 and could be a parallel.
In the end this is all speculation and theory. Either way the idea of it all makes me vibrate and I needed to finally share this with someone else. They wouldn't have recommended this book if there wasn't some sort of meaning here right? And its entirely possible I'm looking in the wrong direction.
Overall there are many parallels and similarities here between A Tale of Two Cities and certain parts of Good Omens, I'm sure I may have missed some and I just wanted to end this now before it gets too long. I've got a rough outline of the Trial of Squirrelflight's Horror in mind with some neat new deets, let me toss them together so you can see what I'm trying to do here. I'll also post a "Wanted Ad" of traits the cat needs to display
But to quickly answer directly; Yes, Clerics can be lawyers. However, Cinderpelt might not fit specifically, because this lawyer needs to be equally antagonistic as well as protagonistic. This won't be a Lizardstripe situation.
BEFORE THE TRIAL;
Squirrelflight's Horror is a book that is setting up the events of TBC.
First of all, it's setting up how no one immediately caught Bramblestar being replaced by an impostor. He is not a popular leader, with a long list of controversial choices.
(unfortunately, the fact he was suddenly good at making names stood out more than his cruelty.)
Second of all, we're going to set up some tumult in StarClan.
When Squirrelflight and Leafpool die this time, it's actually their uncle Iceheart who "fetches" them.
He died in the Battle of the True Eclipse, having a rematch with Tigerstar. So they haven't seen him in a while.
From him, they learn there's been delays in StarClan cats coming up and down. But he'll walk them up. (Iceheart replaces a cat named Blade completely.)
Squirrelflight really doesn't want to go, since her grandson Hollylark (from Fallenleaf x Cinderheart) just died, leaving her apprentice Sparkpelt (from Bramblestar x Jessy) alone with newborns.
There's also been a couple shuffles in the cats they meet up in StarClan, let me go over them;
Squirrelflight is barren and had a miscarriage, back in Po3. She was only a moon pregnant (equiv: 4-ish months in a human)
She never gets back with Bramblestar after his treatment in BB!OoTS, he has Spark and Alder with Jessie.
SOOO I don't actually have a place for Dandelionkit and Juniperkit because I really do not want BB to have Angel Fetus Children like canon lmaooo
Flickerkit and Larksong are here though! Their new names are Flickerflame (starclan-given) and Hollylark (to show that Larksong and Hollytuft have been combined).
Shrewpaw, now Shrewface, has been Squirrelflight's guardian angel for her whole life. She learns this here.
When apprentices and kits die, they get full names and the ability to choose the age they appear as, barring certain circumstances.
Hollyleaf, now Fallenleaf, is not dead so she is not here.
Squirrelflight's mentor was Goldenflower, not Dustpelt. They are BOTH here though.
When Squilf and Leafpool get to StarClan, they learn that they've lived VERY controversial lives, and now need to be judged. That brings us to...
LEAFPOOL'S TRIAL
Actually does not go over as harshly as it did in canon. Squilf is going to be the one getting interrogated, sorry girlie
The main purpose of this one is to show how the trials work for Squilf later. I'm also planning for the same Lawyer who handles Leaf to handle Squilf too.
However, Leafpool is still grilled. The line, "Why do you think you're worthy of StarClan?" is used.
Breaking the code to be with Crowfeather is brought up, countered with "she came back and stayed, because the Clan did not have a Cleric."
When the Three are brought up, it's addressed with the Queen's Rights. She "did what she was supposed to," giving her children to Squirrelflight to raise.
She spent her whole life obeying, even at personal pain to herself, and served her Clan loyally despite momentary lapses in judgement.
It was a traumatic thing to go through, but still results in an easy ruling; Worthy of StarClan.
Leafpool chooses to stay in StarClan, and they watch her body die down on Earth, plus the following vigil
Squilf's Trial is a lot more complicated.
SQUIRRELFLIGHT'S TRIAL
Fire Alone, as an ideology, involves a TON of codebreaking... which she has done, often. Especially during the events of Squirrelflight's Horror where she has been forced to defy Bramblestar's direct orders several times
She's lived her whole life with the knowledge that unjust laws MUST be defied.
I think she should also kill someone in defense of the Sisters tbh. Like let's really make this worse than canon and give them something worth interrogating her about. WAS it okay to kill that person in defense of someone outside the Code?
It's not just Squirrelflight that's in question here; it's Fire Alone itself. WILL StarClan accept the idea that the Code applies to outsiders as well?
VERY IMPORTANT: This is why I do not want the Lawyer to be someone who is a Fire Alone supporter. Squirrelflight is defending it, AND herself
Iceheart, Firestar, Sandstorm, Bluestar, and all of her allies grow more and more agitated as the Trial goes on. Her enemies do as well.
Before the ruling, the entire jury is in a FEVER PITCH. Thunderstar, the Judge, cannot roar loud enough to get them all to quiet down. In fact, he makes it worse
Ashfur is one of the named "enemies" of Squirrelflight, and one of the loudest for her damnation.
The court cannot calm down enough to cast a ruling. It's starting to break out in actual fighting, Squirrelflight casts a glance at Leafpool
She's trying to yell that she needs to go home, people need her, she doesn't have time for this
And then she feels a squeeze on her ankle
Yowling with alarm, Squirrelflight feels herself sliding down into the clouds, away from the furious chaos that is engulfing StarClan. It becomes a shining speck on the horizon as if she's falling out of a dream
She's screaming for Leafpool, reaching out her claws for StarClan, convinced that she's just been damned and is being dragged down to the Dark Forest
BACK ON EARTH
She awakens in her nest, back in her body
With her son Jayfeather next to her.
As she stirs and begins to raise her head, she hears Lionblaze bellow, "YOU GLORIOUS BASTARD YOU REALLY DID IT!!" before dogpiling her
Jayfeather looks surprised that it worked at all at first, before huffing proudly
Jayfeather: "never ask me for anything ever again"
The last of a golden glow fades from his eyes; he has used the last drop of power he had left. He later shares that he doesn't think it would have worked if Squilf hadn't still been hanging on.
Fallenleaf rushes in next, followed by grandchild Ivypool, her first apprentice Rosepetal, her best friend Daisy, and by that point the Cleric's den is bursting.
Bramblestar is poking his head in, but realizes pretty quickly that he is Not Welcome, and stares longingly.
After her cuddles and hugs, Squirrelflight brings up Sparkpelt. She NEEDS to see Sparkpelt. Sparkpelt needs to know she's okay, and that her mate and poisoned child reached StarClan.
SO... LAWYER WANTED AD:
The lawyer can't be someone who's entirely on Squirrelflight's side. It's someone who is challenging her, but not entirely unsympathetic.
It needs to be someone she knew in life. Lawyers are never people who are strangers, which rules out Yellowfang who I had been heavily considering.
Ideally it's the same lawyer between Squilf and Leafp, just so we can spend plenty of time with the character and use Leaf's trial to show their personality.
Hmm.... you know, now that I'm thinking about it... what if it was ASHFUR?
Maybe even have him blackmailing Squilf... "I'll be fair, for you, of course... just promise to do whatever I say, and I'll save your sister. This is your chance to make up for everything you did to me..."
That could be pretty fun. AND be good setup for BB!TBC.

Prehistoric Planet Croc Ideas
So this was a thing I did on Twitter in anticipation of Prehistoric Planet. Obviously crocs (in this case meaning crocodylomorphs) were a pretty massive part of earth's fauna during the late Cretaceous, and seeing as the first season featured NONE I came to speculate which taxa could hypothetically make an appearance.
Now part of the challenge for myself was to come up with a new, interesting contender every day in anticipation of the show's release, each based around the confirmed episides we had and restricted purely to taxa from the Campanian and Maastrichtian. While it took a lot of energy, I did manage to do so. Hell, halfway through they dropped the reveal of Simosuchus, which I had saved for later.
Obviously we didn't get much still, but I'll regardless post my list of candidates and ideas here, perhaps third time's the charme for a lot of these (tho for convenience I'm still ordering them by S2s episode titles). I'll also try to break them apart roughly by biome, starting with islands.
PS: I'd love to hear which crocs people would have loved to see themselves. Any on this list or stuff I didn't even mention? Let me know I'm curious.
We got a shit ton of island crocs from the Cretaceous actually, which you can broadly divide into two categories.
The crocodiles of the European archipelago as seen in the top row.
Featuring the small, possibly shellfish eating Acynodon (art by Adramelech89), the incredibly widespread Allodaposuchus which did have some possibly semi-terrestrial forms (art by Alejandro Blanco, Aina and Agnès Amblás) and Aprosuchus, a tiny terrestrial critter from Hateg (art by @knuppitalism-with-ue). They already give a nice diversity between tiny durophages with blunt snouts, large, more traditional crocs and lanky land species.
The other island category concerns Madagascar, which had a lot of attention in season 2. Discounting Simosuchus, we got Araripesuchus tsangatsangana (art by Scott Hartman) and Mahajangasuchus (art by Mark Hallet). Both are really cool. The former is yet another smaller terrestrial species that may not actually be part of Araripesuchus, while the later is a massive, 4 meter relative of the famous Kaprosuchus that took to the water independently from all other crocs and has been nicknamed "Hippo croc" for its weird skull. Really I'd have loved to seen an episode entirely dedicated to this place.
Next up we had the badlands episode, which oh boy has a lot of contenders from the clade Notosuchia. Brace yourself.
Here again I could split these in two categories.
The first is just general badland taxa. There's Ogresuchus for example, from Spain's Tremp Formation (art by Aina and Agnès Amblás). A relatively small sebecid found in a sauropod nesting site. And we all know what PhP does with baby sauropods. Or the long-necked Gobiosuchus (art by @yoofilos) from Mongolia, which may look like its related to the other ones in this category but actually is a far more ancient type of croc.
The far bigger group concerns South America's Notosuchians. ALL OF THESE are from the Bauru Group, with some even from the same single formation. You got Stratiotosuchus (again by Joschua Knüppe), a large terrestrial baurusuchid that filled the nische of mid sized carnivore in an environment shared by sauropods and abelisaurs. There's Pissarrachampsa (by Felipe Alves Elias), another baurusuchid I decided to feature because we have evidence of a nesting site that shows they only had few eggs. A great opportunity to show their tender side. Uberabasuchus (justin_an74), part of the bizzarly proportioned peirosaurids. Adamantinasuchus (by Deverson da Silva), a small, lanky Notosuchian and of course the heavily armored omnivore Armadillosuchus (by the ever talented Júlia d'Oliveira). Hell you could do a full episode just on the foodweb of the Bauru Group (Godoy et al. 2014).
Then there's swamps, which I'll just use to dump all the crocs that don't fit into the other categories.
As you'd expect, freshwater would be ideal for crocs with a more traditional semi-aquatic lifestyle, here represented by three forms. Jiangxisuchus (image by Li et al. 2014) is a paralligatorid, which are tiny crocodilians from the Cretaceous and Paleogene of east Asia. We honestly don't know what they are, some say alligator relatives, others say they are closer to crocs. But its small and cute. Then there's Roxochampsa (artist of the model I couldn't find), which looks suspiciously crocodilian but is actually a relative of Uberabasuchus from the badlands, hell it appeared in the same formation. Still, I reasoned that I'd throw it into this category because I already proposed so much for badlands (none of which came true but hey). And then there's Denazinosuchus (art by Andrey Atuchin). Again it looks deceptively like a modern croc, but is actually the last remnant of the goniopholids, crocodyliforms that were prominent animals in the Jurassic and early Cretaceous. It could have brought both taxonomic diversity nad highlighted croc resilience till the end.
When it came to picking out crocs for Oceans, it got tricky. Obviously season 2 tried to differentiate itself by being set more in the open ocean, not the coast, and true pelagic crocodiles weren't around by the end of the Cretaceous. So I had to settle for coastal animals. There's Sabinosuchus (Schiller II et al. 2016), a cousin to Sarcosuchus and, like Denazinosuchus, one of the last of its lineage. Also its from Mexico which is rarely talked about for its fossils. Rhabdognathus (Ghedoghedo) is a distant cousin, a slender snouted dyrosaur. Unlike pholidosaurs, dyrosaurs actually did really well after the KPG impact and spread around a lot, living way into the Eocene. And finally Chenanisuchus (art by artbyjrc), which like Rhabdognathus was found both before and after the impact that killed the dinosaurs.
And the final two I shall talk about, both of which I thought/hoped would appear in the North America episode. Again, there's certainly overlap, both would have just as much fit into swamps, while many others would have also suited North America. Regardless, here's Brachychampsa (Tom Parker) and Borealosuchus (Chris Masna), both iconic animals from the Hell Creek Formation. One closely allied with alligators and caimans, the other more basal with a head-shape more similar to todays crocodiles.
Now obviously there'd have been a lot more. Part of the challenge to myself was to try and be as diverse as possible, rather than just listing 10 different baurusuchids I went with only two, tried to include as much of the world as possible, etc.... There's also the fact that some really awesome taxa, Titanochampsa, Brachiosuchus and Eurycephalosuchus, all incredibly unique or interesting, were published too late to have been considered for the show.
And now, in hinsight, we obviously know that with the exception of Simosuchus none of them made it in. Which is a shame, but maybe next time.

Warnings: Fluff. A little cringy PDA not from Jay and Reader. Reader has a younger half-sister named Annie (if that’s your name you can change it to something else) and Annie has a boyfriend called Daniel. Annie and Daniel are both 18.

JAY HALSTEAD MASTERLIST || TAG LIST SIGN-UP
As they sit across from her younger sister Annie and her boyfriend Daniel, who are clumsily making out, Y/N looks at Jay, embarrassed. Jay returns her gaze with the same expression, feeling exactly what his girlfriend and partner is feeling. Dinner had been going well, Y/N and Jay were getting to know Daniel well and both concluded that he seemed like a good kid. He seemed to really care for Annie. He talked to her respectfully, treated her nicely and didn't have any sort of criminal record - Jay had checked before the double date.
It wasn't until the teens decided the middle of the restaurant, they are currently at would make a good make out spot when things took a turn becoming awkwardly uncomfortable for the older couple.
Jay returns his attention to the younger couple and clears his throat, forcing the two teenagers to finally stop swapping spit.
"Sorry," Annie apologizes awkwardly, her cheeks heating up as she looks down at her hands. Daniel beams as he takes one of Annie's hands in his.
"Why did we agree to this again?" Jay whispers into Y/N's ear before kissing the side of her head.
"It was something I agreed to. Like the sweetheart that you are, you went along with it," she also whispers. Looking at him, she sends him a quiet apology while placing her hand on his upper thigh and kisses his cheek. She knows she'll be making this up to him later. Jay needed a lot more persuasion than she did. Y/N returns her gaze to the teenagers and manages to smile. She intervenes just as the two teenagers lean in for another kiss.
"So, Daniel, what are your plans after high school?" She inquires, making her feel more like a parent than a sister, as she did most of the time.
Annie was the result of her father's affair with his then-23-year-old intern. Their father and the intern eloped the day after the divorce papers were signed by Y/N's mother, and they are still married to this day as far as she knows. Y/N has been raising Annie since she was seven years old, when her father and Annie's mother dropped her off with a bag of clothing and her favorite toy. The two L/N women hadn't heard from, spoken too, or seen them since.
It took Y/N months to acquire full custody, but with the help of her mother and intelligence, particularly Jay, who became Y/N's partner a year after she won custody, she was able to raise Annie to be the wonderful young lady she is now.
"I've decided to take a gap year. I'll be travelling with Annie and some of our friends," Daniel replies, hesitantly glancing between Y/N and Jay. He was clearly attempting to make a good impression on the two.
"I did that as well," Y/N says, smiling, happy that Annie will have others with her. Her maternal instinct would rather the 18-year-old do her gap year in Chicago so she's close to home, but Annie had worked her ass off for this since she was 14 and saving what money she earned from babysitting the apartment complexes kids. Y/N knows she can't stop her and there would be no point in trying. She did lay down a few ground rules though. "It is the third best thing I've ever done."
"What are the first two?" Annie wonders aloud, her attention drawn to her sister.
"The first one is choosing to raise you," Y/N takes a sip from her drink, beaming proudly at her little sister, who was more like her daughter, before turning to Jay and smiling warmly at her partner of ten years and boyfriend of five years. "And the second is being more than just partners with this man."
The two detectives began working for intelligence at the same time and were assigned as partners on their first day. It had taken them five years of walking around one other, attempting to ignore their feelings for one another that only seemed to grow stronger by the day. It only took a meeting in New York for the two to move from being work partners to also becoming partners in everything else.
Jay lifts her hand away from his leg and presses a delicate kiss to the back of it. "I love you."
"I love you too," she says, leaning in to kiss him.
Returning their attention to the teenagers across from them, they see that the two have gone back to their making out session.
"Do you think they'll notice if we leave?" Y/N ponders out loud. After dinner, Annie isn't going home with them. She and Daniel are going to see the latest superhero movie with some of their friends from school.
"Honestly, I don't think they will," Jay answers, rising to his feet and withdrawing his wallet from his pocket, taking out some money and placing it on the table to pay for dinner.
Y/N stands and circles the table, taking Jay's hand in hers as they leave the little restaurant and return to their apartment.
Y/N closes and locks the door behind her as she follows Jay into their apartment. She walks into their bedroom to change into something more comfortable. She intended to spend the remainder of their night on the couch, curled up beside Jay, watching whatever horrible movie was on TV at the time. Jay walks up behind her as she is removing her earrings, wraps his arms around her waist and kisses her shoulder.
"I'm sorry about Annie and Daniel," she mumbles as she leans back in his arms. There was no place she preferred to be more than in Jay's arms.
"We were both 18 once," he reminds her, disregarding her apology.
"I don't remember ever having dinner with my sister while making out with my boyfriend in front of her," she says. "They could have toned it down a lot."
"It's new and exciting for them," he adds as he kisses her shoulder once again.
"I know," she sighs as she looks at him in the mirror. "But I'm still sorry. How can I make it up to you?"
"First and foremost, you must promise me that you will never agree to another double date with those two again," he states as he stares at her through the mirror.
"I promise," she asserts. "You said first. Is there anything else I can do?"
"Maybe you could, I don't know, spend the rest of your life with me as your husband?" he shrugs his shoulders, with an apprehensive look in his eyes.
He takes a step back, and she quickly spins on her heel to face him, a surprised look on her face, "Are you finally asking me to marry you?"
"I am," he says as he walks over to his dresser, opens the top drawer and reaches inside.
He closes the drawer after pulling out the ring box and returns to her with the ring box open. "So, what do you think? Would you want to become Mrs. Jay Halstead?"
She looks down at the ring seeing two smaller princess cut diamonds on either side of a beautiful oval cut diamond. It was simple but elegant and she loved it just as much as she loves him. She grins lovingly at him, barely holding her excitement as she accepts his proposal, tears welling up in her eyes. "How about Mrs. Detective Jay Halstead?"
Jay's smile spreads from ear to ear as he takes the ring from the box, slides it on her finger, and pulls her into a passionate kiss.
"Annie won't be home until tomorrow morning, which gives us plenty of time to celebrate," Y/N mentions as she breaks the kiss way too soon for Jay's liking.
He chews his bottom lip and appears to be thinking about it as his fingers run up her back to the back of her neck before reaching for and pulling down the zip at the back of her dress. "Let's not waste any more time."
She smiles, bringing him in for another kiss as she reaches up to unbutton his shirt and push it off his shoulders. His hands travel to the straps of her dress and slide them down her arms, allowing the dress to fall into a black pool on the floor before lifting her up and carrying her to their bed.
"I love you, Detective Jay Halstead," she murmurs quietly, breaking the kiss to let them breathe for a moment.
"And I love you, Mrs. Detective Jay Halstead," he chuckles, kissing her again.

Reverse Trope Writing Prompt Summaries
I've seen these reverse trope prompts going around and they seem so funny, I've decided to write one. I'll list a bunch of little summaries and then do a poll to vote on one.
Too many beds! When Deuce gets the opportunity to visit Clock Town with his friends, he excitedly tells his mother all his friends will be joining him. He later discovers that only his wild pal the Prefect will join him. Too embarrassed to admit to his mother that the large hotel rooms she rented was for nothing, they decide to have such a wild party that no one will ever guess that there were too many beds!
Accidentally kidnapping a mafia boss. You've just discovered that the animal shelter in your town is being closed so that a local restaurant run by a shady (rumored to be mafia) boss can open a branch location. You've seen a teal-haired menacing man going into the place with his timid looking secretary. On impulse, you decide to grab the secretary and use his life for leverage to get the mafia to give up their plan. Little do you realize the bashful gentleman you've kidnapped is actually the famous Don Azul himself.
Real nice guy who hates only you. There was a time when you remember actually wanting to be Silver's friend. That was before you got to know the residents of Diasomnia better. Now, it seems like every sleepover or breakfast date you have with your new bestie Lilia only makes the gentle Silver strike out at you in a ball of jealous rage. Just what is his problem with you?
Academic rivals except it's two teachers who compete to have the best class. Crowley brags about how he is clearly the best teacher on campus. Why, when he teaches class, the students never fail to gain a perfect score! Ha, he is so magnificent! That's why, when he told you about the new low income housing for unmarried residents he found, you couldn't rule it out. One quicky divorce later, you are now on the road to financial security...that is if you can convince the straight-laced inspector Jack that you truly are nothing more than the roommates you pretend to be.
True hate's kiss (only kissing your enemy can break a curse). You've become the assistant to Vil in order to make extra cash. One day, in a series of mishaps, Vil ends up drinking a cup of tea cursed with his Unique Magic that caused him to lose his voice. With an important interview coming up, it up to you to convince the proud Vil to travel to Royal Sword and ask his eternal rival Neige for a kiss to break the spell.
Dating your enemy's sibling. After a huge fight, your former pal Ace is now your worst enemy. You can't stop thinking about that fight and how you (maybe) didn't quite win it. The whole thing just makes you hungry for revenge. You spent a lot of time thinking of the perfect way to get under Ace's skin when you see a post on Magicam of Ace's older brother working his theme park job. Suddenly, you have the wildest idea on who you want to bring to the campus dance.
Love Triangle where the two love interests get together instead. No one was more invested in being a fan of Vil Schoenheit then you, the Prefect of Ramshackle dorm. Unless, it was your rival fan Rook. Vil is thoroughly fed up with you both. He announces that, from tomorrow onward, only one of you will be allowed to accompany him to class and help him at lunch. You now have one night to prove to Rook that your admiration of Vil surpasses his own. As the night goes on, you discover the allure of being totally in sync with another super fan. Can your love for Vil survive his ultimate fan?
Too hot to cuddle. There is a heatwave happening at NRC and the air conditioning magic is broke all over campus. It wouldn't be much of an issue except your dating notorious cuddler Leona Kingscholar. You've turned him down for a nap in the sweltering botanical gardens and denied him from resting his head on your sweaty lap in Savanahclaw. Will your clever boyfriend find a solution or be driven mad by the frustration?

Zestial Owns Alastor's Soul (Or at least his contract)
I know, I know, bold claim to be putting so confidently in the title, but hear me out. And before we get started, part of my process of compiling all my thoughts on this matter was helped along by @falling-star-cygnus's post here. That said, this was an idea I came to on my own, kicked off by point one listed here.
To save all your dashes, I'm putting this under a cut, because it's long.
Alastor is more on edge than any other part of the show (except the end of the Adam fight) while walking with Zestial in episode 3
Now, this is more than just the simple deer in headlights look at the beginning, though that is a large part of it, and is the part of this point that originally tipped me off that something might be up between them.
We do get the "panicked for himself" look here, of course, when he's registering it's Zestial in front of him. But then Frank (I think it's Frank, as the "leading egg boi") starts to talk, and we get this look:
To me, that doesn't look like a "Shut up or I'll kill you" look. It looks like a "Shut up or he'll kill us all" look. Alastor clearly fears Zestial quite a lot, especially when you factor in the practically affectionate (if still patronizing) way he proceeds to tap (presumably) Frank on the head a moment later with the line "Follow in silence if you value your shell."
The expression Alastor has here may change the context for some, but to me, even with the shifty expression, this doesn't look like a threat- it looks like a warning.
And when he straightens, though he has his calm bearing back on the surface, he's still clearly tense, as evidenced in the over-the-top delivery of his "Greetings, Zestial!" line (and several after it), but also in the tension in his shoulders and the stiffness of the poses seen here. It's theatrical, almost certainly rehearsed, and extremely carefully calculated to command just the right amount of attention without drawing too much, like a stage magician's diversion. Many of Alastor's poses and movements are calculated like this, of course, as he is a showman above all else, but this sequence seems extreme even for him.
Aside from the stiffness in this entire scene, nothing noteworthy happens for a moment, as they start walking and seemingly amiably chatting, but when Zestial mentions the rumor that Alastor may have "fallen to Holy Arms", we get another interesting sequence- this time from both of them. First, the way Zestial's eyes narrow and his smile widens, along with the almost mocking tone his voice picks up at the phrase "Holy Arms":
He seems- at least to me- to be amused by the idea. And then, while we do get a full range of Alastor expressions (nearly all of them with his back turned to Zestial) in response to this, this one is especially interesting:
Another flash of nerves or panic, and with an added bit of shifty eyes, as if he's screaming "shit, gotta come up with something fast!" Naturally, this could be due to the subject matter being his disappearance, but later he fishes for Carmilla to ask why he was gone, and is visibly frustrated and possibly even afraid when she doesn't care, which leads me to believe he's unnerved by the company, rather than the topic specifically. (It's also worth noting, though I don't have a picture or gif of this one, that after he claims to have "taken a well-earned sabbatical, nothing serious", there is another moment of shifty-eyed looking around, as if he's thinking "Did that work? That was believable, right?")
What I do have a picture of from that moment, however, is Zestial. While Alastor talks about his sabbatical, he... well, Zestial doesn't have eyebrows, but the way he widens his top right eye in response feels very much like an eyebrow-raise to me.
This is the face of someone who knows something's up, even if he may not know the whole truth yet. The entire conversation feels very much like Zestial is fishing for answers to questions he already knows, purely so he can find out what lies, half-truths, and other tricks Alastor will try to use to evade him.
2. Alastor and Zestial appear to be the only two overlords who show up to the meeting together
Part of that is because they were already walking and talking, I'm sure, but it still seems noteworthy to me, especially since they show other overlords arriving in their own elevators- I wouldn't be surprised if the elevators are magic and connected to each overlord's domain, in which case it is interesting that Alastor doesn't seem to have his own.
3. Despite Zestial's fishing for information earlier, Carmilla doesn't seem to care about why Alastor disappeared or where he went
This further cements that Zestial was searching for information he may have already had to me, as otherwise why would he be so incredibly curious, while Carmilla, seemingly his equal on the council, (and, by extension, the other overlords) absolutely does not care about it? I could also probably make a point here about how when it's Zestial asking, Alastor seems bothered by the question, but when he's in front of everyone else, he seems bothered by not being asked.
We get another instance of the deer in headlights face, specifically when Zestial looks directly at him while Carmilla notes that she's "Not really" wondering where he went. In context, this reads to me as "Oh shit, what if he told her and she's about to tell everyone the truth instead of my spun version?"
4. Alastor and Zestial both work with shadows- and Alastor's shadows are usually green, while his radio magic is red. His cane also might be a gift.
This one is short for now, as we have very little information on Zestial so far, but we know Alastor travels through shadows and has those shadow tentacles, while Zestial seems to have as-yet-undefined shadowy abilities. It's also worth noting here that pretty much any time shadows are involved, even when he's just traveling momentarily, a shade of green very similar to Zestial's makes its way into the shadows, Alastor's design, or both.
This is especially noteworthy due to the fact that when he's doing things that are explicitly radio- based, the magic is red.
Even his stitches (which are green later, when he makes a deal with Charlie) are red in his outro for "Stayed Gone".
That reeks to me of two different magical sources he's pulling from- the radio, which for this theory's sake I'll consider his own personal power, and the shadows and deal-making, which he's likely getting from elsewhere. More evidence for the two sources being separate is when he uses both colors- both magic sources- at the same time, as seen when he's intimidating Husk:
It is strange to me that his magic is dual-toned and his chains match what I'm considering to be the external magic source, especially when we consider that the only other person we see dealing in souls (Valentino) has chains that match his usual magic color scheme:
Pinkish-red chains, pinkish-red smoke. It's simple, straightforward. You can tell the chains are Val's because they match him.
Alastor's don't. And what's more, (even if I'm currently working from only one data point) Alastor's chains are wrapped around his cane. They don't come from his hands or his magic, like they do from Val, they come from his cane, which could have been gifted to him- perhaps as part of the pact- and which he summons in a flash of green when asked to deal with the Egg Boiz.
I would be remiss not to mention the fact that occasionally green appears in the radio powers and red in the shadows, though, like these screenshots:
I don't think that invalidates the point made before, but it is something to be aware of that might alter or undermine it a bit.
5. Their color schemes are reversed, especially in their "powered up" (Or "dramatic flair", depending on how you want to label them) forms.
Alastor is red and black with minimal/occasional flashes of green, Zestial is green and black with minimal/occasional flashes of red. Their eyes and mouths have a similar shape language too, with the jagged top lip on both, and Zestial's flatter bottom eyes and highly-curved upper eyes also mimic Alastor's wide-open eyes in terms of shape language. Similarly, their eyes and mouths are opposite, with Alastor having red sclera and teeth/mouth and yellow-green irises, while Zestial has green sclera and mouth and red irises. This could be because the colors go well together, but the specific shades used are strange if there's not supposed to be a connection between these two.
They also have the same style of stitching, even if Alastor's only shows up sometimes and Zestial's is only on his hat.
6. Finally, Zestial is spider-themed, and Alastor is bound with thread
This one is pretty self-explanatory, honestly. It would also explain the seeming nature of the contract, with his actions bound rather than his soul (his soul might also be bound, but his actions definitely are), as spiders are often associated with pulling strings and controlling people through confounding webs.
There are other things I could address too, such as the fact that Zestial is one of the oldest overlords left, even though Alastor's whole claim to fame is that he was killing and usurping older overlords, but this is already really long and that could easily be due to the fact that Zestial is clearly terrifying and powerful, so for now I'll ignore it.

Thoughts on Daggerheart!!
I'll admit I haven't really been following it until today, but after watching the videos released today I got very excited and ended up building a character and reading a lot of the book, as I am wont to do (might post about them later lol).
Now, full disclosure, I wouldn't say I'm all that familiar with the TTRPG space outside of D&D, so take my opinions with a grain of salt. That said, I've played D&D, Wanderhome, Alice is Missing, and the fan-made Hollow Knight TTRPG, and I've watched some AP of Kids on Bikes, Call of Cthulhu, Monsterhearts, and Candela Obscura, which is a longer list than I was expecting. Huh. Anyways, my thoughts!
I really like the duality dice! It's such an interesting way to do mixed success that incorporates story/character into mechanics, which is great.
Related to that, I also like Hope as a fluid resource, and I think that Fear is a nice way to both prompt GM action and to just create a fun sense of dread as the GM takes more tokens
The lack of turn order/action economy is... cool, and a really interesting idea, but my thoughts on this are complicated. As we're seeing in the oneshot right now, it really helps to keep combat as part of the story and give the players and GM room for creativity. (For example, Bunnie describing a counterstrike as part of her dodge, and being able to take it as soon as the GM's turn is over, as well as the tag team feature, which is very cool.) That said, I think this mechanic might not work so well with less experienced or less confident players, who might have trouble taking the initiative (heh) to act in combat (I know I certainly would if I wasn't playing with close friends). That's not really a criticism though -- this is a collaborative storytelling game, and part of playing it is making big moves and taking turns guiding the story. If that's not for you, then you might prefer a different system, which is fine! I think this mechanic has the potential to be really, really dope, but I also think it's the bit that has the most potential to go poorly in my eyes.
The art, design, and general aesthetic feel of this game are so unbelievably up my alley. I love it. That's all.
I'm excited to see that they're working on mechanics for playing disabled characters, but since they aren't out yet I can't really comment. (I did notice that the character in the bard art is in a wheelchair, which is dope.) Also, as others have noted, Daggerheart uses "heritage" and "ancestry" rather than "race", which is a small but good choice.
Personally, I also really like the choice to move away from precise measurements of distance and gold. This one is very much a personal preference, and I know some people will rightfully disagree, but I like it! As a DM, trying to determine the appropriate costs and rewards for things has always been a headache, and this seems much easier to manage; measuring distances with convenient and tangible measurements like the short side of a playing card or the length of a piece of paper also feels much easier to use.
The downtime mechanics are great! Each of the activities you can take prompts you to describe how you heal yourself or another, destress, repair armor, or prepare yourself for what's ahead, which really encourages quieter character moments both introspectively and with others. I'm a big fan of this. This combining of role play and mechanics is also present in other features, such as one of the major level 1 healing abilities, which is more effective if you spend the time it takes to cast learning something new about the person you're healing or sharing something about yourself.
I didn't look at this too closely because I was just making a character for fun and don't have a party to play with, but as part of character creation you're given questions about your relationships to your party members to answer. Wanderhome also has these, and they were MASSIVELY successful in creating depth and meaningful connections between players -- after our table's session zero I was already so invested in all our characters, and when we actually played them they really came to life. I haven't looked to closely at Daggerhearts version of this, but I'm very excited to see them.
The experience mechanic seems really fun and creative, and I especially like the idea of using a phrase rather than something specific. That said, when I played the Hollow Knight TTRPG, which also lets players create their own skills, the open endedness of it was more confusing than inspiring, and there was a lot of potential for a usefulness disparity between players. I do think Daggerheart explains it better, though, and limiting the use of experience with a Hope cost helps to counteract any choices that might be too broad, so hopefully it will work better
I probably have more thoughts, but it getting late and I have a headache, so that's all I'm saying for now :D
Overall, Daggerheart has combined a lot of things I've liked in other games with promising mechanics I haven't seen before, and I'm very excited to try it out. I'm now realizing that I just made a list of things I like without any negative feedback, which isn't what I wanted to do, but I'm not really sure what to criticize without having played it myself.
I'm most curious to see how the non-initiative mechanic works; it has the potential to be a really excellent solve for a major problem in D&D (plenty of people have talked about how initiative limits teamwork, can be boring when its not your turn, etc, so I won't get into it here), but I don't think it's a solution that will work for everyone. Of course, games can't work for everyone, and shouldn't try to. It's working really well on CR's oneshot as I write this, but making choices and sharing spotlight in TTRPGs is literally their job, so I'm not surprised this works for them. I could see this going really well with some tables I've played with, and really poorly with others. I'm still really optimistic, though; it seems like the kind of thing that with the right table could be really excellent.
