the great thing about tua is that it’s one of the biggest shows on netflix rn but the fandom still feels like 30 people drawing on brick walls in chalk and passing handwritten notes to each other at the back of a classroom

Okay, okay, I don’t want to be the one person focusing on the white people in Black Panther Wakanda Forever but

Val’s response when Ross goes “could you imagine how destructive it would be if a place like America got its hands on Vibranium weapons of mass destruction?” and she gives the most sadistic, nonchalant laugh and goes “I literally dream about it.”

That one interaction is a stunning display of what American militaristic nationalism, capitalism, and neocolonialism looks like and how white people in places of power such as the FBI or the CIA have always been about stealing away the resources and stability of BIPOC.

Shout out to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for that delivery; it is absolutely vile and she should get props for it.

people talk about the super soldier healing factor really casually and the intrinsic body horror of literally wiping away blood only to watch the flesh underneath knitting itself back together, forming scabs and scars and nothing at all in a matter of minutes or hours, is kind of horrifying? or like imagine watching a bruise go from light green to deep purple to sickly yellow before your eyes? gross! 🤠

#I appreciate this bit that Billy can feel sad about not having a traditional family even though he has lots of friends #of course this story ends with Captain Marvel having a wonderful Christmas dinner with all the orphans #but I like that Billy can have his down moments #I’m reading this keeping in mind that Billy and Mary never really formed a traditional sibling relationship #because they both lived busy seperate lives as opposed to being kids raised together in the same house #they were also at this point not seeing each other that much due to the sheer fact of them not appearing in the same comic books #because the Marvel Family book hadn’t started yet #fawcett comics #billy batson #sterling morris #my posts #comic panels

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 616 #Monsters Unleashed #Monsters Unleashed vol. 1 #Monsters Unleashed 1973 #cover gallery #Frankenstein’s Monster #jumpscare reminder that Marvel has Frankenstein’s Monster in their comics and barely uses that nowadays #(except in the Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of SMASH cartoons but I digress)#but ah yes…the classic horror pulp comic cover with a damsel in distress #and it sure does set the tone for the Man-Thing story included in this issue and the next #it’s the only story in text in this issue as opposed to being in comic format and probably for good reason because it’s pretty…lurid #with enough fridging and violence against women (in various capacities) to have me side-eyeing Gerber a bit tbh #it is for sure intended to be a horror comic and the story’s title pretty much spoils how it ends #while there are some moments I personally enjoyed…it’s definitely overshadowed a bit by what I feel like a desire to shock #overtaking storytelling #but hey don’t mind me what do I know #I’m just some person on the internet after all

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 616 #Amazing Spider-Man #Amazing Spider-Man vol. 1 #Amazing Spider-Man 1963 #Kaine #Kaine Parker #several points that I find of interest here #firstly: Kaine increasingly elusive precognitive abilities #I feel that those have been gradually phased out for being both debilitating and over-powered (unless there’s an explicitly stated point #where he lost that I can’t recall at the moment)#but I always found them interesting as yet another point where technically Kaine’s powers extends beyond Peter’s but typically #they’re more of a curse than a gift #furthermore I guess I’m just…really touched by the fact that Kaine considers a transient camp (what most would consider as the definition #of “homelessness”) “home”#and feels a degree of kinship with the people he met there #I guess it lines up with Kaine’s tendency to fly less-than-legitimately under the radar and the fact that it’s not like he has #a legit social security number #but it’s just the concept of Kaine settling in at a transient camp and thinking “yeah this is Home” for me

just saw guardians of the galaxy 3 with my friends, and i’m genuinely trying not to be biased by my general dislike towards the mcu, but it was godawful oh my god

#i’m not kidding when i say i spent the last 15 minutes in a constant eye roll #like it was just!!! arrgghhgh!!! /neg #there were a couple of moments that did make me laugh. i’ll admit it.#and there were a couple of moments that almost made me cry #that probably would have made me cry if it was in a different movie #but i (a very emotional movie watcher) wasn’t able to cry #BECAUSE I WAS SO GODDAMN ANNOYED ABOUT THE REST OF THE MOVIE #anyway yeah. can confidently say that i still don’t like the mcu.#the three friends i went with (who are all marvel fans) enjoyed it though so idk
