persona 3 reload came out yesterday so Naturally i was obligated to finally do a finished piece with my silly velvet room attendants submas au. alt versions, lore info, and misc doodles under the cut o__o (attendant related p5 spoilers mentioned). also sorry for the eyestrain.
protags they attend to are Fellow Twins hilda and hilbert who always just get referred to as 'passenger(s)'. velvet room manifestation is the inside of a subway car, no i havent worked out what that symbolizes to hilda and hilbert, dont worry about it. but i think whether its visibly in motion or not wld depend on the protags' mental state, one side of the windows for hilda and one for hilbert. mostly dark empty with no visual movement outside the windows w/ maybe a flickering station light somewhere or a visibly blocked tunnel for when theyre feeling stuck in life, default would be like a well lit platform outside of the window with faceless shadow people walking around, how crowded it is depends on their progress with social links. high speed through the tunnels with their half of the car rocking violently when there's high stress super dire stuff going on, steady movement when theyre making progress with something, etc etc
their brassards HOPEFULLY translate to 'down' (χάμω) and 'up' (πάνω) in greek??? i wanted smth like caroline and justine's hats but also not The Same and uhhh yknow. persona 3 and greek mythology are pretty :handshake:.
i dont wanna steal margaret's eldest sibling clout so i think physically ingo and emmet would be younger than her but only barely. margaret is literally the only attendant i can see being physically over like 35 and i need sbms to be mid thirties at like the bare minimum. theyre highkey disturbed whenever lavenza willingly splits herself back into caroline and justine. weirded out by the other 'twins' in general bc they're not even Real twins. they gatekeep being twins. if anyone asks "so are you guys also just two halves of one person" it will be the most offensive thing you could ever say to them. elizabeth and emmet bully theodore together. ingo doesnt dislike theodore but just kind of forgets he exists because the twins are always being like "my brother, [name] (pauses and remembers theodore), i mean, ONE of my brothers,"
emmet is very :handshake: with elizabeth while ingo is very :handshake: with margaret. they both have their own fave sisters whoops. (sorry lavenza). in any sort of 'dancing game' scenario theyre both awkward as hell. very theodore core in general with emmet having some of the elizabeth vibes of just 'i am just never going to stop making random jerky body movements' ingo is a BIT more stiff. but like in general i think theo's way of life and elizabeth's aria of the soul have pretty good ingo and emmet vibes respectively. if i ever learn model editing beyond texture replacement its so over for my mmds.
i love igor dearly but i think since there are Two of them they can kinda handle stuff on their own while igor helps with Other persona protags in their respective rooms? emmet says shit like "YEAH FUCK IGOR THIS IS OUR LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!" and ingos like "emmet be nice thats still our boss and the only reason he let us be in charge is because hes busy".
ingo handles all persona fusion stuff and emmet does storage/organization/other misc stuff and gives you p3 elizabeth styled quests. they can both be social linked because i say so. emmet is justice arcana and ingo is judgement. emmets quests are the only way or at least the main way to increase your social link with him and if you dont finish one of his Special Request ones you lose your link with him. one of the special requests is to take him and ingo to see a real subway station 100% because theyve never seen one.
of all the other velvet rooms, they like the p4 one the most because the inside of the limo is the closest to the subway car they're familiar with but i think theyd like the p3 one too for the possible rocking motion of the elevator eternally going up

I'm gonna try to make this as short and sweet as I can. it won't be angsty either!

shortly after stage coach, trev and dixie were hanging out at trevor's house. they are kinda just hanging around and dixie breaks the silence and says, "trev, I think we need to talk."
"what's up?"
"I think we should end things. I just don't think either of us have our hearts in it anymore."
"ok." trevor says nodding along.
dixie continues, "I know that you aren't over mack. and I don't blame you for that, you were with her for over 4 1/2 years, it's understandable that you never got over her. and if I'm being honest, I don't think I'm over noah yet."
"you're right, I'm not over mack. and I'm sorry for that." trevor says somewhat sadly. he feels like shit for getting involved with dixie and using her as rebound for mack when he wasn't over her.
"there's nothing to be sorry for trevor. I'm not over noah and you're not over mack. I think, we're better as friends trevor."
"I agree. I mean I do care a lot about you dixie, I don't want you to think that I don't." he tries to emphasis to dixie. she smiles, "I know you care trevor. look, we'll always be friends but I think that's all we're meant to be. our hearts belong to other people and it's not fair to us if we try to ignore that."
"I know. I'm sorry." trevor offers with a soft smile.
dixie shakes her head, "there's nothing to be sorry for. we just aren't meant to be in a relationship with each other and that's ok." trevor nods along and dixie finishes with, "I'm gonna go. but I'll see you around. don't be a stranger ok?"
trevor nods and walks dixie out. she offers him one last kiss before saying, "and trevor?"
"yeah?"
"go get your girl back." she says smiling before walking out to her car and driving off. trevor feels like a weight was lifted off his chest, after finally admitting out loud that he's not over mack.
he picks up the phone and calls stella. she answers, "hey trev. what's up?"
"dixie and I are over." he says casually.
"really? I'm sorry. I know you really liked her." stella says offering sympathy to her big brother. he smiles to himself again, "it's honestly ok stel but thank you. it was a mutual thing."
"can I ask what happened?" she says carefully not wanting to overstep. trev shrugs to himself, "we both realized that our hearts weren't really in it and that neither of us are over our ex's. it was the first time I said out loud that I'm not over mack and it felt really good doing it stel."
"I'm proud of you for realizing that. so what's the next step?"
"getting my girl back however long it takes." he says smiling to himself. stella is also smiling to herself bc she saw how broken he was him and mack first broke up, and she glad to see how much he put himself back together and made the effort to be better for dixie and now trying to get mack back. she says, "I got your back 100% trev. you know that."
"I know stel, and thank you for that."
"always trev. I gotta go, I'm heading to practice but I'll see you soon ok?" she says as she parks her car at the fields. trev nods, "sounds good stella. I love you."
"love you too. bye."
when they hang up, trevor starts thinking about how he can get mack back. he texts jack, did you invite mack tot he lake this year?
jack responds, no. I wasn't sure if you wanted me to.
I do want you too. please?
jack likes his texts and responds, done. sent the invite, I'll let you know if she responds. you sure about this z?
trevor responds, yes. it's time I get my girl back.
trevor then starts thinking about how he's gonna get matt back on his side and let him have a second shot with his twin sister.

I had a dream yesterday that I have been dwelling on all day and I am 100% sure it was a peek into another reality
Imma just do my evidence/explain first, I had a twin sister (identical), I looked different from how I look here, I remember being in an airport with my sister and I spoke English, Japanese, and Korean, we each had a S/O (significant other), two very sweet guys, I remember spending time with my family and how my sister and I were like running away from some creeps in our school, but all that's blurry
I remember vividly that my sister and I both got a debilitating disease, incurable and quickly lethal, I remember being partially blinded too (from the disease)
I don't know what the disease was, but my sister died before me, and her S/O (I'm saying this bc I don't know if it was just boyfriend or like husband but yeah) stayed with her to the very end (I don't know if she died hours or days before me, when ur dying u don't rly notice the time lol), then he stayed to the end with me too, along with my S/O
I remember being weak and lying on the floor, next to a thin mattress-like thing that was soft and a dark navy blue, where the light hit it it was a metallic purple, my S/O was sitting on top of it and there was a wicker basket with snacks inside, and on the other side of the basket was my sister's S/O
We had some snacks together, we each had this long rice crispy treat in a plastic packaging, I was too weak to eat mine so I just held it, my sister's S/O had a brownie and my S/O fed me some of it
I can remember his sweet smile, so bright and loving, and he was still playful and softly joking with me, even tho I was dying
I remember blinking and every time my eyes were closed they stayed shut longer and longer
I remember him smiling rly beautifully, full of love, and he was "whining" abt how he doesn't eat snacks after sleepy s3x, I smiled and shut my eyes for longer, weakly chuckling, loosening my grip on my uneaten snack, seeing darkness, and I died with the last image of my S/O's bright smile full of love seared into my memories
I woke up in my bed in the same position as I died, and I felt so bereft, I tried to go back to sleep, praying to be sent back, but it didn't work
I know that this person was my other half tho, I felt so thoroughly loved, he was the one who completed me, the one who would love me no matter what, support me no matter what, be there for me no matter what
My heart was aching so terribly that I left him behind, it still is and I think it may be until I find that beautiful soul again
I am going to write a lil message:
I am so sorry for leaving u, I love you with my heart, body, and soul, u were the reason I got up in the morning, the reason I held on so long, I hope that I will find u again this timeline and every one after it, I know that I may never see u again and it makes me ache to know, but I will hold on the to all encompassing love u had for me, u made me feel so loved and wanted, it feels as tho someone has ripped out my heart from the emotional pain I feel without u, I hope that u can move on from me, you are still young, find someone to reciprocate your bountiful love, don't let me be the reason u miss out on life, I know u won't see this directly, but I hope your soul might and can make its way back to me eventually, I'll be patient and hope i can make u feel even a fraction of what u made me feel, u made me feel safe until the very end and I am so sry i left u
Honestly one thing that rly sucks is like how a lot of ppl their S/O dies and they k1ll themselves to be with them but I can't even do that bc I am the one with the audacity to die, I hate myself
Genuinely my heart is aching so bad, I want to be loved that way again, or feel loved at all, not forever drifting in a vast sea of loneliness
I want them to come back to me, to be able to hold me in their arms, to cuddle with and feel safe, feel secure, feel protected, feel loved

SHE IS A VERY COOL MOM janet afton you will always be famous. to me
Im taking this as a chance to finally ramble abt her anyways so Janet's core inspo when designing her was to avoid 2 key things. Don't make her like Immortal & Th Restless's Clara (due to clara representing michael, not mrs afton, so i wanted to avoid that), and don't base her too heavily off of Ballora. I still have ties to Ballora's character (a music-based theme, blue-centric colour palette, im sure there were more basic ideas but everything else is more hc than themes to keep up) due to my hc thingy of each Funtime having ties to William's wife + kids, but yknow.
But yeah. Funky lady who played bass guitar + did backup vocals in a band during her high school and college years. Literally her and William dating can be summed up by "Seriously, what do you see in that guy?!" "He makes me laugh." bc she was and is WAY out of his goddamn league. Not just bc of the whole serial killer thing he was just an even bigger loser in college. Normal people dont develop a crush on a woman after she nearly breaks your nose and makes you bleed, William /j
But yeah uhh. I also dont like the idea of her being absent or neglectful purely because I got way too attached to her (i was originally gonna do that just to make things easy for myself but. Pretty lady,,, I am a very simple lesbian what can i say) so like. She obviously wasnt the greatest, most fantastic mom to ever exist given she was kinda maybe sorta well aware William was making some weird fucking clowns, but like. Hey. She tried. Also side note my reasoning for her being absent during the whole. Yknow. '83 event (and just evan's bday in general) is bc Evan + Elizabeth are twins and Elizabeth demanded a girls-only trip for her bday, and Janet promised Evan she'd do something just as special for him when she got back. That never happened bc he died lmao loser /j
But yeah uhh. Shes got a lot of regrets. Wishes she coulda done a lot of things better. Kinda dies with those regrets. Ive seen people say that one of fnaf's charms is that no character is 100% good and i LOVE that, and wanted to keep it up with Janet. Good mom and overall a good person, however made some bad decisions along the way and whatnot.
Im still working out specifics (ive been slowly working on a lil private fic abt her and william meeting + their early relationship) but uhhh. Minor notes that dont get their own paragraphs is that William sampled her voice for Ballora so yay easy voice claim, she had an on and off relationship with her band's lead singer (her name's Bev), her birth name is actually Janice Schmidt but if you call her Janice she'll knock at least 2 of ur teeth out, she's a runaway teen and got adopted by this older couple bc her home life kinda sucked (idk specifics yet), and also girlie has an extensive criminal record of minor angsty teen type charges. Also teen Mike dying his hair and then 2020's Michael's hairstyle are both kinda references to Janet's hair because he wnated to look less like his father. Thats all ty. Well i was gonna say Janet was def the first to flirt but i think William definitely developed a crush first and they only kept talking bc of said crush so its kinda up for debate. haters gon say it's fake but jimin would 100% main popeyes like catch him getting a 3pc chicken combo dark meat only 🤪 and he'd drizzle honey and hot sauce on the chicken either that or the 5 pc strips with the sweet heat sauce if he's feeling a sense of childlike wonder every other month he goes through a weeklong spicy chicken sandwich phase always drinks sweet tea exclusively
jin would swear by chickfila and i can't blame him! like the consistency is always there in the food and the service and that's just what he needs in life like my man has high standards and they just don't disappoint when it comes to the food i can see him getting the grilled chicken club sandwich with a side salad as his go to meal, the regular deluxe sandwich when he's feeling indulgent, and the 30ct nugget when he's feeling ravenous. whenever there's a seasonal shake he has to try it at least once otherwise it's him and the diet lemonade against the world
joonie is giving cookout like there's just so much variety if he want a burger they got it, barbecue they got it, chicken quesadilla, hot dog, corn dog, chili cheese fries, just.... all his wants and needs would be at cookout and when he's feeling a sweet treat??? boom they got the best milkshakes in town. i think his go to meal would be a big double burger tray with a chicken wrap and onion rings for the sides and he got to have cheerwine for the drink mhm iktr
it pains me to say it but i can really see tae up at 2am getting a deluxe cravings box from taco bell like i personally can't stand taco bell it just ain't for me like don't get me wrong there's been times when i worked overnight and it was bought for me so i ate it but i wouldn't choose it but i think tae would 😭🙏 like it's more convenient than chipotle bc it's open later and has a drive through so it's conducive with his lifestyle so that's where he's at in the parking lot at 2:30 with a crunchwrap supreme a doritos locos taco and a baja blast sigh

Ok, so two questions about the chaos gremlins:
1 can they be left alone or will there be collateral damage?
2 what would they think about the other falling in love/ having a lover?
OK NUMBER 1
It depends on when. When they were little, collateral damage wasnt even a question like if u blink theyve eaten the furniture and cornered a cockroach into selling out its mob boss husband but it would be an accident and they would be able to pout their way out of trouble, season 4 catra could definitely be persuaded into wreaking havoc on etheria (she'd probably suggest it) as long as theres no way vi could find out, season 5 and beyond catra could be persuaded into standing on the sidelines while jinx does what jinx wants to as long as neither vi or adora have any way of finding out.
So in short
Baby twins: 100%
Teenage twins: 55%
Adult twins: 38%

Any specific headcanons for the twin dragons of sabertooth?
i have two separate vibes/aus that change the headcanons for them but you dont get the family au that im still workin on bc im nowhere near sabertooth just yet so take this in whatever format happens as i write
birthdays literally 6 months apart to the DAY but ONLY on the years that have that extra day. leap year? they dont remember what its called
because of that and the "twin" in their duo name they just decided that fuck it that one day every like four years is their birthday. regardless that its a day after stings and six months (minus a day) before rogues
they genuinely dont remember whos older. its gotta be someone. they have no damn clue. one of them either looks older than they are or looks younger than they are and the people who bother commenting on it flip flop between em every time
yknow that dumbass "one room for opposite twins with one half all bright and bubbly and the other all dark and emo" trend? yeah thats their apartment
sting is the only one rogue cant really see much of with his shadows no matter how close or far he is. its cause o how fuckin bright he is.
rogue is the only one sting can hear without the hearing lacrima. sure its not crystal clear like his sight but he can sure understand what hes sayin eventually. he genuinely has no clue why
weisslogia and skiadrum lived really close to one another compared to all the other dragons and their slayers. whenever one loses sight of their slayer they just go to the other dragon and boom the kids are playin together in the forest
sting cant handle sleeping in pure darkness unless he sleeps next to rogue. rogue also cant handle sleeping in the light unless its right next to sting. theres a night light in their room on sting's side and rogue just pulls a hand towel over his face to block it out.
in a universe closer to canon, after jiemma nearly killed lector and sting killed jiemma, rogue tried to convince sting that maybe they should just join fairy tail at the soonest opportunity. minerva was just like jiemma and the only person who really showed they cared was yukino, who had been exiled earlier that fuckin week. sting was close to doing that after he got lector back, but then he became master instead of minerva, and suddenly they were too busy to think about joining fairy tail
after sting became master rufus and orga tried to be all buddy-buddy but rogue shot them down real fucking fast. it took many months before rufus and orga could earn the actual trust and respect of the dragon slayers and not just the "yeah i know them they joined same time as me. fuckin pompous pricks is what they are" that they always thought of them as
sting actually found frosch's egg and rogue found lector's. they were raised together but once the exceeds were able to start going on quests and were allowed out of the little hammock they slept in they had to swap primary parents. frosch was only comfortable in the dark and needed that pink frog onesie otherwise and lector was only comfortable in the light or hed get so anxious and have insomnia
sting and rogue have opposite personalities
everyone who never met them and had that as their only warning figured that oh the white dragon slayer was all bubbly and optimistic and the shadow dragon slayer was all emo and pessimistic

frosch is the opposite of lector. dresses all bright and bubbly but will say the most depressing shit youve ever heard
all four of them are siblings. they will beat the shit out of anyone who thinks sting and rogue are boyfriends
sting is like a toned down juvia but to natsu
rogue is like a toned down juvia but to gajeel
sting will say the most hypersexual shit to natsu half as a joke half seriously and natsu either doesnt realize it or is like "oh thats SO something i should say to lucy to make her pissed off". sting has accepted his position as the forever pining side character and he finds it hilarious
rogue will do everything he can to not speak to gajeel unless theyre both in a fight. not even to ask for a fuckin pen or somethin. the few times gajeel spoke to him (even to ask for a fuckin pen) short circuited him and he either stumbled his way to an answer or sting answered for him. hes also accepted his position as the forever pining side character but hes sad about it
after sting became master they kicked out so many assholes in sabertooth the guild was less than half of what it was in the gmg when they were done
honestly all of the new members still think rogue's the master. even when rogue specifically refers to sting as "master" so they can get in the habit of doing the same they still think people saying "master" means rogue and not sting.

Ruth Burn
I just wanted a fox oc lmao. I thought omg twst doesn't have foxes, and then fellow popped up, and I'm like, welp. So personality wise, Ruth is a very responsible person, but she has a cheeky side that is kinda like ruggie in a way. Her motivations are more social rather than self-preservation like ruggie. i didn't really base her on any character from disney i just knew i didn't want her to be text book cheeky fox character, wanted her to be more of like a normal teen with bits of fox like slyness in her.
Mielin Schoerin and Mimi Schoerin
They're kinda inspired by the twin cats in lady and the tramp. The first two that i designed, actually.
Mielin (dark hair) is the oldest between the two, and she's the most developed character in the cast because i just fell in love with her LMAO. Mielin's name came from a part of a cell in the nerve system cmiiw, so its main job is to protect, and i was like, hell yeah, that name sounds cool. So she's the more mellow twin takes things more seriously than her sister. She's usually seen to be very uptight and awkward by the other students but that's mostly because she's just quite dense with her surroundings. funfact but i like to imagine she's the girl crush of campus bcs i want to give her so much love shhshsb
Mimi (blondie) is the younger one, and i like to think she's the more energetic of the two, but she is more analytical than mielin. Mimi has this aura of being more laid back of the two, but she has the sense of being all knowing of things. kinda like floyd but not as wacky as floyd.
Naima / Zahra (can't decide but im leaning towards Naima)
Honestly, she's my fav design, but i have no clue on her background yet. I'm leaning towards her being a passionate dancer whose roots are from traditional dances from her culture, or i could go the other route of her being an ex athlete or ex idol. since the story i want to tell through her is to be her own self and come to terms with her choices because, like, what if our choices are just not right for us? Im trying to make her into a character that isn't similar to the existing cast in twst, idk im finding myself making her into a jamil 2.0 and im putting more thought into her to not be like that. the disney movie doesn't really have a character that i want to adopt to be her so im still thinking about it.
Melissa (Mel)
so diasomnia's book is still ongoing, i dont have any fixed plans for her involvement with the existing cast yet. but my plan is to make her a race of beings opposite to faes in a sense, since her magic doesn't come from her but the magic of others around her. so, like sucking the life out of them and repurposing it to be her own type of thing. Malleus finds her abandoned in the forest as a young kid with all the magic in the surrounding area gone. She gets adopted, but lilia refuses because she can be dangerous with her inate powers that can weaken malleus and endanger silver since in my head, they found her after lilia took in silver. so they came to an agreement to take care of mel with the condition she stays away from silver and malleus before learning to control her powers. Now, what makes mel okay with this treatment in her head is because she remembers everything from her birth and how her mother abandoned her and stuff so she feels like its normal and devotes herself to Malleus as a guard as a sense of gratitude for letting a monster like her in. Her arc is realizing that she's not a monster that she was made to believe. Instead, she was a neglected kid who wasn't taught properly. Honestly, i just feel really sad about her, and initially, i want her to explore lilia's character since he's one of my favorites but after concocting this i just want to give mel a hug.
Also, her OB-ing would be cool

Wishlist for Padme:
I have a verse for Padme set in the era of SW:ToR. She is married to Anakin, who is an apprentice of Kenobi. She is a member of the Sith Senate. At some point Anakin challenges Kenobi & loses. She and her newborns are in a precarious position & she needs plots with allies or enemies!
Threads set during her time as Queen. Any threads.
Threads developing her relationships with canon characters such as her handmaidens or any of the Jedi, Senators, councilman, anybody she interacts with during her time in the Senate. There’s so many scenes and steps in relationships with everyone we ever see her with on screen or on the pages that are just waiting to be fleshed out.
Palpatine. Any interactions with him from trusted friend and ally to nominee to hmm well maybe somethings not right here to fml he is everything Padme has been fighting to stop and she was instrumental in putting him into power.
Force sensitive aus. (?) No specific thoughts here. Maybe she and Ani meet at the temple instead of Tatooine cause she’s a padawan already? Idk. Endless possibilities.
AU where she survived, her death was staged, she goes into hiding and begins working to form a resistance. Lots of possibilities here from being captured and turned over to Vader or the Emperor or whomever, to accidentally running into Leia or Luke during their childhoods or adolescent years somehow, or ??? Hit me up with whatever.
AU where she was brought back by Vader or maybe even someone with good intentions but she’s not quite normal? Missing memories, disjointed, darker aspects of her personality coming through. Potential for dark side plot points maybe she came back tainted and corrupted and had access to dark side powers? Dark side power couple? Resurrected bride with a need for vengeance who turns against Ani? Or joins him in secret to overthrow the emperor and rule the galaxy? Again - lots of options.
AU where she survived but had amnesia - various options here including living a perfectly happy life in the outer planets somewhere oblivious to the trauma of her past until someone recognizes her & turns her in for a bounty or - whatever. Options.
AU where she survives, stages her death and she and Obi take the twins and go into hiding.
Threads / plots during the end of the prequel series as she begins to have her doubts about the Senate et al and sees the democracy crumbling - her concerns about Palpatine etc - her potentially scheming with Separatists and becoming an ally - I think some Clone Wars stuff touched on this but it’s been a while since I’ve watched the series so I’m not 100%. But yeah. Her potentially joining with the Separatists & whatever that might entail plot wise with different people.
AU where instead of Ani & Padme she ends up in a secret romance with Obi. Overall I think most major plot points would stay the same on a galactic level. Palpatine would just use that to turn Anakin against Obi for stealing what should’ve been his, betraying the code etc etc. The showdown would probably just be Anakin vs Obi without Padme so she wouldn’t die just probably go on the run with Obi after?
Any plots that involve somehow using her as leverage against Anakin before Mustafar or like as leverage against Vader etc in aus where she’s survived or brought back bc? Angst?
AU where she and Obi convince Anakin to tell the Council the truth; the truth about Palpatine is brought to light. Padme is elected as Chancellor after Palpatine is defeated. Anakin leaves the Jedi on mostly good terms and starts a small academy for grey / balanced force training with the intent to help force users who do not want to be Jedi (or sith) control their abilities without becoming controlled by them etc. the twins stay primarily at the academy.
An AU where Obi / the Jedi / etc manages to reveal Palpatine’s true nature & he is overthrown. Still turmoil but not nearly as much & the Empire is thwarted. Anakin resigns and he and Padme move back to Naboo to raise the children.

Usually the stories that I make up just to keep me company will sit in my head until most of the ambiguities start to clear up, and it becomes A Thing ™. Or it’s so novel I have to do art about it, or it just lives in obscurity. But I want to try to document that early ideation because I think it’s fun and funny in this case.
morbifying the unmorbifiable. The morbifying ordeal of being known. You wouldn’t download a skitarius. Or: Can I put the chief and reyes into moribund in a satisfying and cohesive way, or is this kind of a jesse cauldwell situation.
Things I’m pretty sure about:
I stand by shoving the endlings into the fucked up thunderdome that’s under Sond, yeah (which, believe it or not, existed long before the warhammy ripoff.) I think it’s funny if there’s a weird petri dish down there.
Things I’m just thinkin’ about:
Reyes is probably Norbasti if I had to draw some kind of near-earth comparison between the wasteland, Fennoscandia, and morb. Norbast is a Mainland arctic-subarctic region and former vassal of the Empire with a capital E (that is, believe it or not, also older than the warhammy ripoff and not really meaningfully similar apart from being an empire. I just call it that because I wasn’t very good at conlang when I started working on Moribund all of ~9 years ago, and “The Twin Principalities of Sirrec” doesn’t hit the same way it did in 2013.)
Anyway Norbast floats around in the peripheries of Moribund, because the Mainland West is something that is intentionally vague and distant but parallel to themes that I care about. If an Empire ™ collapses, it’s something that happened “way out there” or “back in the day,” and we only get to experience it through the remains of their failed penal colony at Mercasor. I say that things like colonization and imperialism never happened in morb, but what I really mean is whenever something like it is attempted, it fails so spectacularly that people kvetch about it 100 years later.
Not that Norbast really needs to be peripheral just because of its proximity to a collapsed empire. It’s just “out there” and I haven’t had the impetus to leave Mercasor or Asthaom or Basedt.
Culturally and geographically, Asthaom and Norbast could not be more distant, but also they kinda aren’t that far apart. Norbast is just opposite of Basedt and the western face of Scaiuq, on the other side of the inner sea. In the same way that the arctic circle shares a lot in common in both human culture and biotic communities, there is. Something there.
I am thinking of how to make these connections because it’s a big leap to pluck Reyes, the outsider, out of Norbast and shove her into the fucked up thunderdome under Sond (hold that thought.) Being an outsider in an empire is extremely different from being an outsider in Sond. There are completely incongruous themes of existing in a fucked up hellstate that just don’t exist in morb, and that’s why I did not consider chief+the r.a. as something that could circle the toiletbowl of morb later.
… Not that she has to come from Norbast just bc she’s Norbasti. She could be Mercasian or just a random Xanti expat and that’s equally funny if not more funny. But I have some kind of angle here I think. Which brings me to my thesis .
I’m tickled with how deeply moribund the concept of “god is wearing black” is, and I think that’s a fun place to start building out Norbast, and maybe find a home for some of the wasteland stuff kicking around in the back of my brain. I think Reyes’ driving impetus is the same, in that there is something Deeply Wrong at home and she can’t fix it on her own. But rather than being backed into a corner by the empire as the only agent capable of fixing the problem (or so she thinks), she willingly goes to Sond to petition the Powers That Be for help, as one is wont to do at Sond.
Or in other words, “all my gods are dead, do you have any spares >:{“
I also think it’s fun if the consequences of Sond’s fucked up thunderdome aren’t immediately felt by Asthaom, but instead have far-reaching consequences in a completely different part of the globe. All OUR gods are dead, but now YOUR gods are causing problems and you need to do something about it. The Sentinels being forced to confront the incomprehensible evil that is the god-prison 1 mile under their feet is fun spinoff novel material for them. Luv that.
Don’t mind the fact that I don’t know what the actual problem is. I don’t think I can legally unleash the endeme on morb (HOLD THAT THOUGHT.)
Things that I think are fun but dubiously legal for moribund:
Mark moribund is inherently hysterical I don’t think I can elucidate on that in any other way. That being said two roads DO diverge in a yellow wood. obviously he can be a 2936727633782 year old cyborg from the collapsed ancestral sarikote culture, and probably some kind of disgraced archivist shaper or bureaucrat or whatever. But once again I do Not think the beyenti-asthaom interchange happened until after the Akiat Diaspora left Asthaom, and it feels weird if he’s just like… there, randomly, as the one beyenti dude in the company of an indigenous people whose whole thesis is realizing that their ~hyper-advanced~ ancestors were dumb as shitt and not worth modeling, except as a cautionary tale of What Not To Do. That’s an intimate relationship that Sond has with itself for him to be just some guy.
Which opens door #2: It would be equally funny if he was a disgraced bureaucrat in the days of Motu’s Lexarcs, who got cannibalized for his organs right around when the Lexarcs realized “oh shit there’s STUFF down there” @ Sond. I;m just saying this guy looks like a member of the Dai family. Doing some treason and getting gutted like a fish and thrown to the dogs is Dai behavior. And so is having a revelatory experience in the catacombs of Sond that changes who you are fundamentally as a person. This one just happens to involve bodily transfiguration.
… yes I think it’s hysterical if he’s Dai Hei’s cousin or something. Look at them
There are some significant hurdles for all of this, but watching myself eat shit on them is half the fun .
Things that I think are fun but extremely illegal for moribund:
Ironically the Chief is giving me the hardest time. Her relationship with Mark as his cranky bodyguard that 180s completely after he gets lobotomized is a significant component of their relationship. Also the fact that she becomes a larger fuzzier woman later. And needs deprogramming for the rest of her life.
Well now that I’m writing this out, this just sounds like typical lexarc behavior, and I’m not sure where the problem was. Except becoming a larger fuzzier woman. Ironically I have very arbitrary reservations about shoving her in with the endlings, mostly bc I like her design as a vat-grown supersoldier vs. the relatively inorganic endlings. But growing anything in a vat is decidedly unmorb. And so is werewolf transformation weirdly enough. Basedt has similar bodily transformation, but it makes absolutely zero sense to tie in Basedt and would come waaaaaaaay after the events of Asthaom anyway.
so like... that endeme, huh
This doesn’t have a solution (yet?) I’m just thinking about it. rotating it in my brain. It’s almost 2 AM so it’s probably time to stop anyway.

omg i read ur rules after i sent the ask abt chaeyoung, so that was my bad, but im glad u turned it around!!
i LOVE the idea abt jihyo's potential friend, esp when u mentioned sejeong!! i think jihyo and sejeong are very similar, so i can totally imagine sejeong as another hybrid (probably a kitten too), and the only reason jihyo likes her unlike how she was wary of nayeon and outright dislikes momo is bc sejeong kept trying to be her friend and eventually jihyo just gave in and found she liked her! a bit of a reverse of how they actually became friends (with jihyo hitting on starting convos with sejeong but thats what aus are for right?)
and sejeong would 100% take jihyo's side. and they meet up at their secret meeting spot and jihyo is just complaining and complaining and obviously sejeong is gonna agree with her cause she doesnt know any better LMAO, she jumps on the momo hate train REAL QUICK
but what if one day she finally meets momo and shes just like. jihyo. ur so dumb. she literally just wants to be your friend. and i can imagine poor momo :( who is probably so insecure abt her place and might be afraid that bc jihyo doesnt like her (and they've had jihyo longer) they might like momo less or get rid or her or smth :((
and meanwhile 2yeon is just like: jihyo will come around...eventually......right........

absolutely no worries! i only updated my rules yesterday so really there was no way you would’ve known if you had looked before then!
i freaking adore sejeong and i’ve always wanted to try writing her! every time i think of her and jihyo all i can think of is the whole ‘twin flame’ trope- i mean sejeong did call jihyo her “soulmate” at one point... so as you can tell i’m a sehyo enthusiast!
but hybrid kitten!sehyo just takes the dramatics and the cuteness to another level! i love love LOVE the reversal of their meeting. i can imagine sejeong just popping up everyday for a week straight asking jihyo to hang out and be friends. no matter how many times jihyo would roll her eyes and say she doesn’t need a friend because she already has jeongyeon, sejeong would just roll her eyes right back leave with a “see you tomorrow pabo (idiot)!” eventually jihyo rationalized hanging out with sejeong by telling herself it’s okay to have two friends if one of them is also a kitten like her so jeongyeon won’t get jealous.
sejeong would absolutely take jihyo’s side! i imagine that sejeong mostly comes around when her owner + jeongyeon aren’t home (and the few times she has met jeongyeon all jeong does is joke about how they’re ‘the same kitten just copy and pasted’). so sejeong probably knows deep deep down jihyo is just being overdramatic about the whole situation - but she’s never really hung out while 2yeon are at home and she’s never met momo so as far as she’s concerned jihyo is 100% justified in everything. she’d be fuming too if her owner moved in her girlfriend without asking and then brought home a new puppy on a whim.
but because she is on the outside, she is much more reasonable about the situation when it finally comes to meeting momo. i would imagine she’d come over one afternoon while her owner is out shopping or something and expects to see jihyo on her usual chair basking in the sun but instead she finds momo sitting alone in the living room pouting. since momo arguably has one of the most irresistible pouts of all time, sejeong can’t help but talk to her (even though she was going to ignore her out of solidarity with jihyo). poor momo should be on top of the world right now, she just got a new home and a new family. when 2yeon are home she can at least hang out with them but when they’re gone and she’s left alone with jihyo she’s reminded of how lonely she was before coming home with them.
puppy!momo lives with her heart on her sleeve, her ears always giving away her emotions no matter how well she tries to hide them with her words. so when sejeong asks what’s wrong momo just pouts and says ‘jihyo’s ignoring her again so she’s waiting out here until nayeon comes home’ and bursts into tears because she hasn’t really had anyone to talk to about any of this. she’s too scared to bring it up to 2yeon in case they realize bringing momo home was a mistake and they take her back in order to keep jihyo happy. she can’t exactly talk to jihyo about it without getting the cold shoulder. plus she doesn’t know anyone else in the area so she’s just been keeping everything to herself. sejeong right then and there decides she likes momo and doesn’t want to see her sad again. so she gives momo a hug and listens to all her worries and insecurities. before she leaves she promises they’ll hang out together soon, but first she’s got to deal with jihyo.
the next time the kittens meet up at their spot, the first thing sejeong does is hit her on the arm and calls her an idiot. she ignores all of jihyo’s pouts and protests, she’s heard them before. she’s determined to get jihyo to like momo so all three of them can be friends. they’re all hybrids so they might as well get along. plus, it would be more fun to have someone else play around with them. maybe she hatches a plan to force the three of them to hang out together or something along those lines??
as for 2yeon, they know jihyo is a slow burn and once she opens up to momo she’ll like her (even if she won’t admit it). she didn’t like nayeon and first but now she does... well they think she does. she doesn’t really say it. or ever show it. but sometimes she seems like she might, so that’s what counts! in the mean time, they’re just loving life and definitely in a little honeymoon phase now that they’ve taken that next step in their relationship. until one of the hybrids runs away or draws blood, they don’t need to step in. just positive vibes and fingers crossed!
and that’s totally okay!! i’m so excited to have people becoming regular emoji anons! like i really can’t express to you how happy i am that you’re even taking the time to read any of this and interact with me! i wasn’t really sure how well any of my hcs would come off because i think their good ideas but i couldn’t tell if anyone else would think so too. if i could hug you through the screen i would! so seriously thank you so much for interacting and adding to this au, it’s given me so much inspiration and fun!!

Winter was silent. She frowned sadly at her hands, trying to collect her thoughts. “There were a lot of factors to take into consideration,” she began, looking thoughtful. “We weren’t sure how you’d react, for starters.”
“We?”
Winter nodded. “Your Father and I both felt as though something was off. And even after I confirmed that it was fake, we were still a little bit on edge.”
“Seriously? Dad knew too?”
“Well, we do talk, you know. And both of us care about you, Jacqueline,” Winter said, standing up now, hands on her hips. “So of course we started keeping as close an eye on you as we possibly could, without overstepping our boundaries, or crossing yours. I’m afraid that the last time we did that, it didn’t end well for either of us. Or you.”
“But that was Jack!” I protested. “I’m not Jack!” I said, with as much conviction as I possibly could given that the moment I said that, my stupid iced up brain reminded me of all the silly stunts I had pulled recently that Jack would 100% do. I thought back to the bag heist and grimaced (internally).
Honestly, I think I'm going to have to rewrite this whole first portion lol, there's something about it that isn't quite sitting right with me, and I can't quite place it so. I WILL REWRITE ALL OF IT TO FIGURE IT OUT

my god. they're all so fun it's unreal, but I think lately it's been Fino and Fiera. They've just been surprising me a LOT these last few chapters (see: Fiera charging at Jacqueline through the treeline and getting her ass handed to her in 6 seconds flat) and it has been DELIGHTFUL. I know they're two characters but like, HEAR ME OUT. THEY'RE BOTH FUN TO WRITE. THEY'RE BOTH UNPREDICTABLE ON EITHER SIDE OF A SCALE. I LOVE THEM, YOUR HONOUR
Twin Princes have been kinda a blast recently, too! I've been like. Writing snippets of their interactions and I'm just so fascinated by their entire relationship and how it deteriorated to the point where civil war, ya know?
