✨ i dont know much about demon slayer, introduce me to it!

oh boy i can certainly try my best!! this will be somewhere between an Introduction and What I Like About It <33 so basically:

demon slayer is a manga/anime series set in taisho era japan (aka ~1910), revolving around a thousand year conflict between Demons, folklorish man-eating creatures turned from normal humans; and Demon Slayers, a secretive group of swordsmen sworn to protect humanity from this supernatural threat.

the story revolves around two siblings-- Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, and their struggle stumbling into this conflict after Nezuko is turned into a demon.

on paper, it's a pretty typical shounen anime-- a very straightfoward "good-vs-evil" plot with a heavy focus on swordfighting. however, in my eyes, its charm comes less from its actual in-present-text plot, and more on the sheer amount of love put into so many little details in so many places. i'll be keeping this as entry-level spoiler-free as i can, but i'll elaborate on a few of my personal favorite bits! under the cut:

ill disclaim that i dont watch a Lot of anime-- in fact, this is pretty much. the Only anime i watch. but the art style + animation of this series is absolutely fucking Stunning. every single frame of it looks like it could be its own illustration, and this traditional brush-like line weight sticks around for the entirety of the show. not only this, but a lot of the sillier, more doodle-esque panels in the manga get translated into the anime, and it is insanely charming.

its ability to handle atmosphere and backgrounds is just as strong, and it only gets better the longer the show goes on. also, circling back to the line weight, there's a lot of effects like Fire and Rushing Water, and not only does that too carry the same lining style, but its constantly in motion. its genuinely such a treat to watch.

and god, the voice acting. (DISCLAIMER ive listened to both the english and japanese versions and Heavily Heavily prefer the japanese voice acting. i wont elaborate too much because this will get Long but you gotta trust me: youre gonna wanna pick the subbed version.) the voice actors do such a genuinely stunning job at both conveying their roles, and also conveying tone and emotion. demon slayer is a tragedy and jesus fucking christ do they fucking commit to it. if a character is crying, they are going to Cry. if they are screaming, they are going to fucking scream. it's very intense at times, but god is it so fucking good.

tanjiro's voice directing is just. [waves hands around] SO GOOD. he's described by another character to have "a sound so kind it makes you want to cry," and. shit dude! theyre right! he's got such a soft and kind inotation to his voice, and yet he still has the range to do [waves hand again] All The Rest Of That. AND THERE'S ONE ANTAGONIST. in season 2, there's a demon that has three entirely different voice tones, and it is genuinely chilling to hear them switch between them just. on the drop of a hat. you have to trust me. you are just going to have to trust me, its SO good.

> Narrative Details.

this one's A Lot. theres something about the tone of the story itself, the way it Carries itself and its relationship to its setting, that is just. so delightful to take in. it's got this weird split between the realistic/historical and the fantastical/mythological.

demons are real, pseudo-unkillable, oftentimes physically montrous, and possess nigh magical powers ranging from typical elemental effects to Pots That Eat You. however, they're also simultaneously staunchly stemmed in the Physical and Tangible-- theyre treated as entirely different species with entirely different biology. their abilities stem from their Blood-- as does their seeming immortality, which is a hypercharged version of cellular regeneration, needing to be fueled by their altered diet.

slayers are nigh-superhumanly powerful swordfighters with ridiculous amounts of physical strength and stamina, using techniques bedazzled with imagery of flames, thunder, rushing water. however, the biggest part of the series is focus on the training of demon slayers-- focus on breathing and allowing your body to function at peak efficiency-- sometimes even pushing past its typical limits-- each form of swordfighting having an entirely different physical execution. those that reach the highest levels of skill are able to practically conjure the look and feel of the elements their techniques are named after. hell, the focus on their swords is shockingly detailed as well!

its a delicate balance that is genuinely so much fun to watch and analyze-- in fact, some of the characters' looks are even given folklore-esque explanations for things like hair and eye color. it's delightful!

> Characters.

in my honest opinion, this is probably my favorite part of the entire series. there's so many things i could elaborate on, and it's all presented with such shocking simplicity! it all feels very genuine! they all, honestly, feel like People!

the character design is, comparatively, very simple. even so, so many of the characters remain genuinely iconic and easy to recognize at a glance.

and then, their actual characters. the way they act. This is the bit i love the most. aside from background characters and the such, there isn't any character that feels entirely one-note. the protagonists are genuinely so lovingly written, and theyre so so easy to get attached to. tanjiro is genuinely one of my absolute favorite protagonist characters, not just because of the way he is written, but the way that you get to see him Think and Grow. he's defined by his kindness, but is staunch in his motivations.

as well, demon slayer is very good with character introductions. it has this funny thing that it does where it introduces a character in such a way that makes you go ". am i supposed to like this one??" presenting them in an almost one-note stereotypical fashion, sometimes even in an antagonistic fashion-- but episodes down the line when the stakes raise their head, you look back and suddenly realize: oh god. i care about this fucker. if anything happens to them im going to actually cry.

its such an interesting way of introducing characters, especially the way it completely reframes the way a character Acts at any given moment in a way that makes them painfully human. you really start to feel for them!

all in all, the charm in demon slayer lies in its worldbuilding, its characters, and especially: its Themes. god i could go on for hours about the links between characters in regards to the themes it chooses to present and delve into, but. this is already long enough. but i'll just say: it handles all of these things ridiculously well.

what does it mean to lose yourself? how do people interact with the concept of death and entropy, of loss? legacy, family-- how do these ties push you on, weigh you down? what will we do for the people we care about-- how far are we willing to go to protect the ones we love? what was given for us to make it this far? who will carry on our message when we are gone?

bonds between siblings, between friends, between those we choose to protect. what makes them real? what are we willing to fight for? to die for? loss is inherent to being alive, but so is joy. we're temporary, we're fragile, we're unstoppable-- we are all painfully human, and thats what makes our lives worth living, no matter how dark, no matter how "insignificant," we're worth it because we're together, we're worth it because, inherently, we are alive. and that is worth protecting.

Appreciating the KnY Noh Production: Part 1 of 3

Humans are demons, demons are humans. Weave their eternal feelings, and dance.

...or so goes my very basic translation of the tagline of the Kimetsu no Yaiba Noh/Kyogen production, "人も鬼、鬼も人　不滅の思いを紡ぎ、舞う" which could arguably be translated in other ways like "humans and demons" or "inextinguishable thoughts" or you could rid of the comma. I wanted to keep the translation more aligned with how people might be familiar with Ubuyashiki's words, while also capturing the spiritual element behind dances in Noh, but there is no such things as perfectly translating something's form, especially if you're trying to keep it beautiful. It's wiser to translate in spirit.

That, I feel, came through in adapting a hit manga like Kimetsu no Yaiba into one of Japan's most high-culture theater traditions.

As much as I love going to any silly, gimicky KnY event, I admit that my appreciation for this one partly stems from my (overly?) deep appreciation for the original Gotouge creation, as well as from previous study of Noh basics (not to mention understanding Japanese). That means that in order for me to be a simple fangirl about it, I'm going to have to explain a bit of Noh background, at least as far as it relates to Kimetsu no Yaiba. My scene-by-scene fangirling will come in the following two parts, so enjoy the nerdery for now.

This post is going to serve as background information for the sake of pointing out the things I appreciated about this production. It's not going to be a full intro to Noh, because that would be a silly goal when all I want to do is gush. However! My blog has also become a window into Japanese culture for many readers and I am happy to pull you by the wrists to fall through the window with me. As such, I'm referring you to the-Noh.com for English language overviews about the background, meaning, and basic details of Noh, as well as more and more to read about if you find yourself inclined.

For our purposes here, Noh has its roots in humorous Kyogen plays (and the two are often linked), it has a sparse approach to the stage and props, but each element serves a practical and/or symbolic meaning.

Knowing this visual language helps in appreciating the story. For example, knowing which role each character plays based on which part of the stage they stay closest to, or what kind of being they are based on what prop they carry (spoiling this for you right now, I've always loved the tiny demon mallet, it's so non-threatening like the oni is going around bopping people on the head with it). And of course, Noh masks are iconic and prolific, something which can also be said of the KnY universe. Let's Ask Shogo has an enlightening video about Noh masks, and it's a good starting point for appreciating Noh. Another example I'll refer to a lot is the hashigakari, a bridgeway to the left of the main stage where actors make their entrances and exits. This is often treated as a gateway between worlds, and since spirits letting go of their attachments and moving on is a common theme, exiting down this bridgeway implies implies that. As you can imagine, a play with ghosts and demons like KnY makes use of that.

That brings us to the themes... When I first heard about this play, I was struck by how well the themes of KnY line up with Noh, and that's a big reason this project became a reality in the first place--people in the Noh world sure noticed too. I'm probably going to come back to the theme of "demon/ghost/whatever being with a sad past moves on" over and over so I'm leaving this here for now, but that takes us into a couple of the most important character roles: Shite: The main character, the one often going through some sort of spiritually transformative experience

Waki: The side character, who often helps the shite attain that spiritually transformative experience, often simply by listening and bearing witness to it

That created a challenge for the KnY production. Tanjiro is the shite, as he is the focal character, but he plays more of a waki role in the arcs of other characters.

There are also Kyogen characters, who often appear for the sake of comical relief. It's not uncommon for them to have dialogue together, as in the case of the Kasugai crows & sparrow drinking and complaining about their jobs, or to monologue to the audience, as Haganezuka did since he had a captive audience to hear him talk about how swords are made. These are some of the best opportunities to play with the onomatopoeic aspects of Kyogen scripts, often the word play is simply fun and rhythmic to listen to, compared to the chanting and (somewhat dis-harmonic) accompanying chorus and flutes and drums during the Noh drama. There are different structural functions of Kyogen when used in combination with Noh.

That brings us to structure. There are different kinds of Noh plays depending on their subject matter, but sometimes you get a whole menu of plays all at once, like going to a fancy Kaiseki restaurant that hits certain basics while showing you a multi-course meal of different cooking techniques. In Noh, this menu of plays watched in sequence is a Gobandate, five kinds of plays which can take all day to perform one after another. On special occasions like New Years, there's a special sixth elemental to start it all off on a spiritual high note.

*Special Occasions only!* Okina: Also called "Noh which is not Noh," this is like a ritualistic dance that is often associated with gods or other holy characters, sort of like a blessing over the whole event taking place on the stage that day

Waki-Noh: Kind of like an accompaniment to the implied shite character of the previous Okina, if there was one. Regardless, probably some focus on otherworldliness. Shura-Noh: Great tales of warriors, yay, always a safe bet for the stage

Katsura-Noh: Some story about a woman. Often a woman who is suffering, or in love. Or both! Women's stories in Noh are not limited to this category, as you can guess from below.

Zatsu-Noh: Kind of a catch-all category for stories that don't fit in other categories, a common theme is some kind of obsession or chaos.

Kiri-Noh: To finish with a bang, a play about a demon or other otherworldly thing.

In all of these, you'll find other structures of Noh story-telling, like the chanters telling you a lot of what's going on (like the narration in the early volumes of KnY, I felt!), or characters recounting their own story to a listener instead of acting it out in real time. That makes it perfectly plausible for a demon to get their head cut off, and then monologue about their sob story. This performance was formally structured as follows, at least in the first draft of the script, which saw a lot of changes by the time it hit the stage. It had to take a few liberties to fit around a story with a shite who acts like a waki, as well as presenting a Gobandate structure in the span of two hours. Okina: Hinokami (yes, perfect choice)

Waki-Noh: Sagiridoushi (the children of Sagiri, aka our favorite fox-mask wearing children)

Shura-Noh: Fujikasaneyama (Mt. Fujikasane)

Kyogen (Interlude 1): Katanakaji (Swordsmith)

Katsura-Noh: Shirayuki ("White Snow," the theme chosen for Nezuko's part, which I had so many feelings about)

Kyogen (Interlude 2): Kasugaigarasu (Kasugai Crows + Sparrow)

Zatsu-Noh: Kimi ga Tame (I'll explain the cleverness of this title later, but this was where Zenitsu & Inosuke, our favorite elements of chaos got to fit in)

Kiri-Noh: Rui

Or at least, that was the original idea. Some parts of the drafted script stayed pretty close, but other changed significantly based on run-time, overall flow of the production, and input from the director Ohtsuki Bunzou (a living National Treasure and the actor who played Rui), and from one of the lead actors, Nomura Mansai, who played Kibitsuji Muzan, whom I did not see coming.

I saw in the pamphlet that they were making an Okina themed around Hinokami Kagura and in my anticipation for being lulled into this experience with a holy dance entering from the hashigakari bridgeway, I was totally taken off-guard by Muzan, in full Michael Jackson style, strolling through the audience on his way to the stage, asking, "do I look sickly to you?"

HOLY FUDGE, THAT STARTLED ME

Mansai-san (referred to in this photo on the official Twitter as "Muzan-Mansai-sama" instead of just Mansai-san like in other interviews) has other drama experience besides Noh and was chosen to play Muzan from the get-go. Man, what a great Muzan he was. I don't know that I've become a Noh fan beyond having appreciation for it, but I have indeed become a Nomura Mansai fan. Anyway, this is all to set the stage (ha!) for more of my thoughts to come later, but I'll conclude this by saying that although they decided to break from stiff tradition to produce this play, they did so in the spirit of how centuries ago, plays would use content from popular literature like The Tale of Genji and The Tale of Heike to draw in crowds. Throughout the performer commentary, you can see them imploring Kimetsu no Yaiba fans to take this as a first step into appreciating Noh. There was a lot of care in making sure they did not become a copy of the KnY stage play musicals, for example, taking liberties with the costumes to make they recognizable but more Noh style than anime style.

The script writer, Kinoshita Yuuichi, set two important rules for himself: 1. Honor Gotouge's original work As such, he did a very close reading of the 23 volumes of manga and 2 fanbooks, but did not take other adaptations or outside materials into account (such as the anime or novels).

2. Make a true Noh production Although they needed to make a few departures from strict Noh style storytelling in order to fit Gotouge's story and characters, they used the elements of KnY to make something that honors Noh tradition and technique

Rather than just fangirling about the staging choices, a lot of my fangirling is going to be about Kinoshita's care with the script, and how beautifully he paid homage to famous works of Noh canon while also paying careful attention to emotional details and references throughout KnY. As someone who tries to express my love for canon while creating fanfics that are pleasing in the English language, the amount of care he took hit me deeply. Translation and adaptation is never exchanging one structure piece by piece into another. It takes a grasp for deeper meaning and beauty, both for the original work and what it is being transformed into. I shall humbly continue to try to convey my respect for that as I continue fangirling in Parts 2 and 3, my Scene-by-Scene reactions.

oh lord I could talk about him for HOURS. we have the same birthday which I absolutely love. I met him at a hero convention, which he didn't want to even go to, but present mic dragged him to it. He wasn't getting many at his booth but I stopped by because I was sooooo excited!!! (he is my favorite hero after all) He was surprised I knew so much about him bc he's an underground hero, but I have my ways hehe. I gave him my number and he told me not to get my hopes up. It didn't really matter because now there's a ring on mah finger :D

ATSUMAYA (me and atsumu)

We met at a college party. I came with my friend as a plus one. We hit it off pretty well even though Tsumu had one too many drinks. Out of nowhere he just blurts, "You look like my future wife." Of course I didn't say anything cuz I was trying to process that sentence. He tried to cover it up saying he was drunk out of his mind and didn't mean it. I was curious as to whether he meant it or not so I went along with it, "I guess that makes you my future husband."

MAYAJIMA (sounds so silly... me and ushijima)

I was studying abroad in Japan and he was impressed with my Japanese skills. Since he's a pro volleyball player he asked me to teach him English, so he'd be well equipped with helpful words and phrases. I am not a great teacher though so we both struggled lmaooo.

SATAYA (me and tendou)

We met in high school!! He's just so funny and my kind of person. Understands my humor and we both loved teasing Shirabu and Semi :3 I just know we'd get into all kinds of trouble. Also I taste test his new chocolate flavors!!!

MAYOOMI (me and omi)

Gosh I was a pest to him at first. Annoyed him to no end I tell you. It was unintentional in the beginning, but soon teasing and messing with him became my love language. I knew he was okay with it from the way his ears would turn red. Most of his face was covered by his mask but I could still tell when he was flustered. Did I mention he's blocked and unblocked my number on numerous occasions? Yeah he loves me lol.

TOMIYA (me and giyuu)

He's just too pretty and it was hard to talk to him bc I felt like I couldn't!! I approached him first (even though I was scared) and that's when we started talking. I thought we would end up being just really good friends but he was on the same page as me.

OBAYA (me and obanai)

I didn't really talk to him because he was closed off and close to mitsuri. When shinobu was treating me once; she was talking to someone I couldn't see who it was, but I knew the voice. (I was only half conscious) It turns out he'd come to see if I was alright after my mission. He started having Kaburamaru leave me little gifts he'd find during missions or make. One day when Kaburamaru had brought me something I gave the snake a love letter to give to Obanai.

he wanted to kill me at first :((( cuz i'm just a human :(( BUT something about me just reminded him of what it's like to have a family which is why he kept me around and ended up falling in love. He liked that warm feeling in his heart even though he couldn't put a name to that feeling. (i'll give him a hint: it starts with an L and ends with an E)

NANAYA (me and nanami)

Nanami is such a sweetheart. We met on a dating app 0-0 yeah... he was lonely and I was too. I told him how I thought I'd end up getting catfished bc there was absolutely no way some as fine as Nanami would actually be interested in me! But yes, we go on many more dates after our first little dinner date.

A/n: guys, i just got an epiphany..i’m a sucker for polyamorous relationships like wjdbsksbd being sandwiched between two absolutely hot men? 👀 that’s a yes for me, but what poly relationship would you love to be part of from KNY? I’m curious

Between college and your part-time job, you didn’t have much time to care for yourself, much less get the daily required amount of sleep. Which is why when you opened the door to your dorm, you only had enough energy left to take a few steps inside before you plopped down on your bed, curling up into a fetal position without even bothering to shower or change into a more comfortable set of clothing. The only thing that was on your mind at that moment was about how nice it would be if you could sleep through your remaining college years.

You thought the vague and faint ringing was only in your head, perhaps you were developing tinnitus from the exhaustion. Was that possible? But tinnitus doesn’t sound like a ringtone, so you begrudgingly hoisted yourself up, propping yourself on your elbows with your stomach pressed against the mattress and fished for your phone from the pocket of your jeans. You blinked as the screen glowed to life, alerting you of an incoming face-time call from your best-friend. Despite the earlier fatigue, your face lit up at the sight of his name. It had been so long since you’ve last talked to these two, you were not going to let your sleepiness stop you from joining the call. Picking up, you adjusted yourself into a more comfortable position on your bed and stretched your legs while the call connected. At last, the tiny rectangle in the corner of your screen showed you his face in all his peachy glory, running his fingers through his hair. You resisted the urge to squeal, instead wriggling your fingers at him with a silly little grin. He reciprocated with his own cheshire cat grin before diverting his attention to elsewhere.

« Hold on, i’ll add Giyuu, »

And with that your heart began thumping even louder. It was ironic, you thought, that you had been friends with them for so long yet you still got excited whenever you had to interact with them in any way. Of course, you knew your feelings extended far beyond that of just the plain stage of ‘friendship’, but you’ve never expressed those feelings before, by fear of destroying what you already had. You’d rather much remain a good friend to them than break the bond which you cherished so much.

A second rectangle popped up and Giyuu was see adjusting his phone, his face unsurprisingly devoid of emotions but you knew better than to judge him based on that. He nodded at you, lips curling up into a small smile.

« Hello, [Name], »

« Hi, Giyuu, Sabito. How have you guys been? » you hoped your voice didn’t sound too excited.

Sabito huffed, pouting playfully. « How have we been? We’ve been texting you everyday but you barely answer. How have you been? »

It was true, and you did feel guilty about not replying to the goofy messages they sent in your group chat(even though Giyuu’s were goofy unintentional), but you had been loaded with work recently and you had to push your leisure time aside to complete your assignments and shifts.

« She must’ve been busy, don’t blame her, » Giyuu’s calm voice reprimanded lightly. Out of the three of you, he was probably the most mature and responsible one. Sabito only rolled his eyes, paying him no heed as his gaze bored a hole into you even through the screen and you were unsure of how the situation would have been had he been standing right in front of you instead of speaking to you through your phone.

You squirmed slightly, your expression turning sheepish. « Sorry, yeah, i’ve been pretty busy with work and all, and college has been kicking my butt. I’ll try to text more often, no promises though. » you giggled sluggishly. The world around you seemed to fade for just a second before everything stabilized again and you blinked away the sleepiness, missing the way Giyuu whipped his head to the side in a poor attempt at hiding the blush on his cheeks and Sabito covered the lower half of his face.

« You-« Giyuu cleared his throat, « you must be tired. We won’t take up much of your time, get some rest, »

« No! » you sat up straight, almost almost throwing your phone on your bed, « i mean, yeah, i will, but i wanna talk to you guys it’s..it’s nice.. » you trailed off, fully aware of the burning sensation that was spreading across your face and refusing to make eye contact with either of them, though you could definitely feel their eyes on you. You heard rich laughter echo from your phone and you already knew it was Sabito. He kept his gaze on you, his eyes glinting with a strange emotion that you found yourself drawn to.

« Of course you want to talk to us, who wouldn’t wanna talk to this? » he gestured towards himself, an eyebrow quirked. « You’re one lucky girl, [Name], »

Of course i am, you thought as you laughed along to their antics. « Thanks for the reminder-«

« We’re lucky too, » you looked over to Giyuu, head tilted to the side. « We’re lucky to have you.»

And as you choked on your own spit, painfully aware of how flustered you must look while Sabito threateningly asked Giyuu if he’s been taking lessons on flirting 101, you told yourself that you wouldn’t trade your friendship for nothing else in this world.

You don’t remember dozing off but sometime after you had all calmed down and another conversation had begun, your eyes that you were trying so hard to keep open eventually closed and your head dipped down, your breathing becoming shallow. Noticing your lack of reply, Giyuu and Sabito glanced back at you, their hearts skipping a beat at the sight in their screens, loose strands of hair falling over your face, soft snores escaping your mouth while you dreamt on. And when their names escaped your lips, they figured that maybe they shouldn’t wait around with the confession that was brimming.

« I wasn’t flirting, » Giyuu stated in a hushed tone, his eyes not once leaving you,« we really are lucky to have her. »

Sabito remained silent, studying you, his eyes trailing over your parted lips. « Yeah. Yeah, we are.”

So, yes, Vox took over my computer for a while, so that's why this took so long to post. But, I'm pretty sure I got it fixed & he's gone now

So, to celebrate my return, here's the cuties cuz I love them & Okiotaru forever

This takes place after the events of season 3. So, I'm sure we all know about what happened in season 3, so after that took place, Okimi took quite a beating as Kanamori noticed just how bad her injuries were from Gyokko & Zohakuten. So, she was recovering in the village infirmary for a long time. This wasn't the butterfly mansion

Okimi & Hotaru were both fine, & he was recovering just as much, but the entire time he wanted to know where she was & if she was okay & stuff like that. Ultimately making some injuries of his worse due to his worry LMAO

She was passed out for a while & when she came to, she saw him in the doorway & just waved at him, causing him to dart over to her to make sure she was alright. & she was!

Just.........AAAAAAAH! The way she looks at him makes me weak 😭😭😭

I'm sorry, I really hate Trickstar's uniforms 😭😭😭😭

Now, let me rate all of the characters in the units:

Valkyrie: Mika's cool, I don't really like Shu so far :( the uniforms are soo cool though

Eden: Hiyori looks cool I guess 👍 I don't know the others' names sksjdjsj Nagisa, Jun(?) and maybe something beginning with I? Ibara? I keep thinking Isara, but I know he's the guy from Trickstar, anyway, I don't know a lot about Eden, I like their uniforms

2wink: my silly little guys, I love em <3 they are so joyous and fun, and also I randomly got a 5 star Hinata card the other day so I might be biased shskdjsj (also why are they called 2wink????? 😭😭😭)

Akatsuki: Keito and Kiryu are cool, Souma is so blorbo <3 I like their uniforms but it unnerves me how there's no sleeves

Knights: 💥💥💥💥 you've told me stuff about Leo before but he's not in the anime so idk that much about him tbh 😭😭 Izumi's kind of an asshole so far but his design is cool so I'll let him get away with it, Arashi and Ritsu are so cute, I love em <3

Ryuseitai (I hope I spelt that properly): they're so funny omg 😭😭 they're like power rangers meets sailor moon 😭 the red guy (I want to say Chiaki?) gives off such "positive older student in a sports anime" vibes lol, Shinobu is so cute I like how he's a ninja, Kanata is just... wow 💖💖💖, Midori is so 🥺🥺🥺, I genuinely forget the last guy's name 😭 I kept mixing him up with the red guy, but he seems cool as well <3

Madara(?) don't know anything about him except that he makes the others call him "mama"? ok. seems cool though ig, I like his hair and his cowboy aesthetic

Alkaloid: Aira and Hiiro are cool, I really like Tatsumi (this is gonna sound weird but I'm probably biased because he's Catholic or something 😭), and Mayoi looks really cute but I haven't met him in the main story yet so idk much <333

uugghh Dream just being so overwhelmed after everything and going to Hob.. and Hob's just. My #1 post of 2022

It appears the last two (2)….times I’ve tried creating this post, tumblr thought I was too wordy, so I’m going to attempt to get in and get out before it eats itself again

ahh thanks for asking! i believe i haven’t had someone ask me this question before so i’ll try my best to answer! _(:3 」∠)_

my top 10 favorite characters (not in any particular order)

1. katsuki bakugo (BNHA) - i’ve grown attached to him since the first season aired, but he didn’t became my absolute favorite until the episodes keep coming in and he started changing his ways ;;

2. anya forger (SxF) - i love the silly faces that she makes! and her power of reading minds is so interesting! plus the “waku waku!” she says is so cute!

3. killua zoldyck (HxH) - okay, i thought he was cool with the way he fights as an assassin and how he slowly mellowed out while he was with gon 👀

4. gojou satoru (JJK) - I IMMEDIATELY FELL IN LOVE WHEN HE FIRST REVEALED THOSE BLUE EYES OF HIS SUE ME OTL but i also hate him at the same time i-

5. ichimatsu matsuno (osomatsu-san) - i can relate to him bc he’s a shy character and loves cats (but i also like dogs too). he’s so antisocial that i just want to bundle him up in a blanket and hide him from the world ;;

6. zenitsu agatsuma (KNY) - sooo my first impression of him was.. annoying, i should say? but he grew on me when he didn’t judge tanjirou’s sister or tanjirou himself for harboring her in the box and still fell in love with her. the icing on the cake was his revealed powers when he falls asleep even tho he can be a coward asdfghjkl

7. nagi seishirou (blue lock) - i fell in love with nagi bc he’s just so lax (and i find his personality funny!) and since i’m up-to-date with the manga, i like that he’s been improving his play while also getting more serious while in blue lock

8. karma akabane (assassination classroom) - let’s just say he was interesting to me when he first appeared and there’s actually sides of him that’s cute even tho he can be a little shit sometimes lol

9. luffy (one piece) - once upon a time, i was caught up with this dang anime while watching it for about a month and it was already like 500+ episodes in until i stopped bc i couldn’t wait for the next episode anymore orz anyway, he has such high regards for his fellow crew mates and y’all don’t know how much i have cried while watching this show ;; i even drew him and everything a long time ago when i was obsessed

10. last but not least *drum rolls* comic batman! - if i could, i would own a lot of batman comics, but it’s his dark and brooding character plus having a double life playing as a “rich playboy” while also being a hero of gotham, i had a lot of fun reading up about him!

i feel like i have more characters (not just anime but tv shows as well) that i like but not particularly love so i didn’t include them bc if i did, then the list will just go on, so these are just honorable mentions of who stuck by me ;;

@never-surrender i dunno if you know this jess, but i really enjoy not only your tengen portrayal, but all your oc's, too!! suk-ja/aubrey has a special place in my heart ofc, especially bc her interactions with sei somehow woke up his muse after being dead asleep for nearly a whole year :' ) but pls throw all of your babies at me any time you want bc i'd love to write with them more!! also i need to point out that you're very easy to speak to, which i've really appreciated as someone who isn't the best at holding a conversation. i know you juggle a lot outside of this hobby, so i just wanna say you're doing great and thank you for being on my dash!!

@resolutepath charlie!! it's a crime that i didn't properly start writing with you until recently bc i've admired your writing from afar for a while. even though i haven't followed bnha for a while, it's your kirishima that caught my eye at first, and then i realized!! you write a lot of characters i love and so well, too!! even characters who you're still testing ( like tamayo! ) are written well, and that's not easy! i admire anyone who can understand a variety of canon characters well enough to portray them all bc that's something i honestly struggle with. you're amazing charlie, and don't doubt that for a second!!

@mellodiies misha misha misha... i don't think my dash would feel right if you weren't around, and i can honestly say i've missed you whenever you've taken a break from this silly site! i know we don't chat very often, but you've helped make my experience on tumblr a comfy one not just with your humor but by making me realize i don't need to feel bad for posting ooc or gushing about my oc's. rp is a fun hobby, so we should do as we please uvu and pls know that i love reading your thoughts on mello and without ever seeing him on-screen, you've made me love this character i originally knew nothing about beyond his love for chocolate :' ) as far as i'm concerned, he's your oc and d.eath n.ote just borrowed him

and finally orzo!!! you thought you were getting away with sending other url's and not asking for anything yourself??? think again!!! you're someone i can't imagine my dash without at this point. you and haru are constants for me, so it'd make me sad if y'all weren't here :( i know i'm slow as molasses, but i love the dynamics we've developed with hyouka and kaigaku, and i honestly can't wait to write more bc i'm that person who always wants a million more things to write together asdfg thank you for writing such a good and kind oc who fits so well into kny and who we can all love <3 and also!! thank you for thinking of me and sending me things for kai and zenitsu bc it really does make me so happy when you do!!

Okay!! for #2, oh boy, let's see...

the number one tag is "One Piece Bingo" with thirteen works, but by my decree, that doesn't count. MOVING ON, we've got "smut" with ten works and, yeah, that kind of fits. especially with the demon that was Kid week—hot damn, did i do smut for that. Next up is "Angst" with seven works, then "Established relationship" (6), "Alternate Universe—Modern Setting" (5), and finally, "Nightmares" (5). Honestly, the only one im surprised by there is "modern setting." i didn't think i wrote that many, though the rest of these sure fit imo. i do love my angst and smut XD

#4: What detail in take everything with you (but leave the sun behind) are you really proud of?

That's a tough one i do love this work a lot. hmm. I am gonna say im proud of the prose, though that's more of an overarching thing than a detail. Nonetheless, it's still a lil foray outside of my usual writing style and i enjoyed it <3

Now a detail so i can actually answer this question... im gonna say this bit towards the end:

"Her wings spread of their own accord, allowing her to feel the cold wind through her feathers once more. His first words to her came to mind. Hello, little bird. Would you like me to take you away from here? Yes, she chanted, yes, yes, please, anywhere you want to go."

It's precious to me. I don't know why,, it's got a lil undercurrent of "wow you are so fucked" but also peacefulness and i was jumping out of my skin to write it down <3

#15: What’s your favorite AU that you’ve written?

Oh my god this is so tough. It's stuck between two right now—one of them I've only written like, half a paragraph for (you know the one) so im gonna say it doesn't count yet.

Winner then has to be then my One Piece Demon Slayer AU. God, I wanna write more of this when i have the time, but right now, there's only one work out there in the realms: Pink is the Prettiest Color (if you check it out heed the tags!!). I just love both OP and KNY so much... and swords are so sexy... ANYWAY i've got like. a whole conspiracy for this au i believe ive cursed you with it in the past. SOMEDAY im gonna write more for it >:)

#21: If you wrote a “missing scene” in Beneath the Skin, Through the Heart, what would it be?

ahhhhhhh what a good question. I'm almost tempted to say "the wedding" but that's such a cliche answer let me think about it.

It's hard because that's one of my favorite works and I feel like it's pretty solid as is. Now, the question is—am i thinking of a scene i would like to have added, or a later addition/standalone that's connected but not required for the story? In the first case, I think a "experimenting with makeup" and such scene would have been cool. It's silly and small (and i have no fuckin clue how makeup works) I think it would have been a cool scene to further explore Rosi's newfound femininity. now, in the latter case, first thought that comes to mind is the honeymoon. skip the wedding, vows, whatnot, and straight to the married bliss. im a sap like that (also, more smut >:) I do love my katacora smut). I'm not sure if I'll ever add more to this, but these are tempting thoughts!!

Last but not least, #42: Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?

ABSOLUTELY. I got one that is very nsfw so I will spare you that one—but another of my faves is a pair of comments on Pink is the Prettiest Color (1) (2). They were very sweet and flattering, of course, but I could also feel the love for the works and the love for both of the fandoms!! They melt me <3

Of course, all essay comments also hold a very dear place in my heart. they make me want to cry every time i see them—like, oh my god, someone enjoyed my work that much?? holy cow asdfsjfovhs
