He is a man for whom grand gestures are as easy as breathing.

An evening in Waterdeep, conjured from the depths of a shadow curse. A night on the glimmering currents of the Outer Planes, your boat a small atom of light among an expanse of glowing stardust. He would create a castle out of amethysts for you, or find a way to pluck a single thread of the Weave to alter your fate if you asked.

All to prove his worth. His value. To show you his love and convince you that your love is not wasted on him.

And yet, you think, as you lay against him with his arms around you, his nose grazing the back of your shoulder, his breath ghosting across your skin, slow and even as he drifts off to sleep, you find in some ways that you prefer moments like this. When all the grand gestures fall away and you are left with these tiny little moments. These precious little touches.

Like freshwater pearls among glittering diamonds, you seek them out, irregular and imperfect, preferring their soft luster over the blinding glitter. You cradle them close to your heart, threading them together on a string, a poem of lines that are no more than broken moments, tiny gestures, little touches.

You love to watch him when he isn’t looking, when he is wholly himself without the pressure to perform confidence for you. To study him the way he studies the pages of an arcane tome, seeking the secrets between lines.

Not that you’ve ever asked for his confidence or for a performance. You’ve only ever asked for a moment of his time. Posing questions just to hear him talk, watching as much as you listen.

his self-conscious smile halfway between arrogance and doubt arrogance of his knowledge doubt in your interest the way he looks off toward the horizon when his thoughts take him to planes you can scarcely comprehend the way his eyes find their way back to you the instant he hears your voice or feels your touch you, like the Dog Star, guiding him home again

He worries at times, when he catches you watching him as he reads or studies or speaks, that he’s boring you. He thinks he needs to make grander gestures, that he just hasn’t found the thing that wows you yet.

But while he ponders the wide expanse of the universe, wondering in which hidden corner he might find the one perfect thing to win your heart forever, you fill a universe of your own making with the sounds and sights and senses of him whom you love.

your littlest finger curled around his, a silent promise amid a busy day, a tiny link that chains the two of you together, the smallest constellation for the briefest moment his lips on your cheek, a teeny kiss made in passing as he moves by you, pulled momentarily by your gravity before roaming away, like a comet tugged temporarily into orbit

He would want you to focus on his abilities. His magic. The gestures he makes to cast his spells. The timbre of his voice as he shapes the incantations. The pull of the Weave as it bends to his will. You do notice. You do.

But there are other moments you find more precious. The tiniest things about him linger in your mind.

over the worn mug that holds his tea the one missing its handle the way his hand cradles the cup and turns it just so that his lips do not catch on the chip on the rim he's done this a hundred times before and yet you watch mesmerized

"When we get to Waterdeep, you'll want for nothing," he says, painting images of grandeur and splendor with an artist's brush, conjuring images of a dozen luxurious comforts. No more days spent aching from bedrolls on the ground. No more falling into exhausted sleep from a day of travel and battle. It's a lovely image, but so is he.

Just as he is.

You wish he'd see that. But his love for his goddess has taught him that he needs to constantly out-perform himself to retain your love and attention. That if he lets a day go by where he doesn't impress you, then he risks losing you forever. You wish he could glimpse, for just a moment, the way you see him.

a man mortal and aching but kind and sweet open-handed brimming with love just a man a good man whose heart and soul calls to your own just a man who doesn't need to do anything or be anyone more than who he already is because he is enough

You know it's hard for him to grasp the concept that he doesn't need to do anything to win your love. That he has it, wholly and freely given, no strings attached. It's the only theory you've ever known him to struggle with.

But when you take his hand and brush your lips against the backs of his knuckles; or you touch your forehead to his and sync your breaths in time with his; in the moments where I love you are the only words either of you have said for the last hour or more; you think you see the start of him realizing the truth you’ve already carved into the center of your heart.

He is already enough.

He will always be enough.

Have you ever been curious how much child support Draxum would owe Splinter? No? Well I tried to get the answer anyway

I don't think Draxum actually has a salary and Splinter is unemployed after he's kidnapped but this is the only way this works. (from what I can tell)

I'm just saying it makes absolutely no fucking sense for Astarion to be 40 years old in human years.

Elves have a lifespan of approximately 700 years and Astarion was turned into a vampire at 39. Now if we use the assumption that elves age at the same rate as humans till they reach adulthood (because if it didn't slow down Halsin at 350 would look like fucking withers) that makes it impossible for Astarion to be middle aged.

400-300 would likely be middle aged for an elf and Astarion didn't even hit 100 guys. I legit see people out here using his fucking hair color as a reason to claim he's old (I mean yes he is old he's a fucking 200 year old vampire, but physically he's very well preserved). Have you guys ever fucking seen an elf before in like anything ever? Just a little fun fact but in most fantasy stories elves have white hair because you know they're fucking magical creatures.

Okay rambling over. I honestly don't know why this annoys me so much. Probably some nerdy ocd thing and it doesn't make sense in my brain.

Edit: So apparently there's some stats in a mobile game that says he's 350 (with vampirism keep in mind), BUT this conflicts with the dev notes saying he was turned at 39 so ehhhh.....IDK inconsistencies with lore in video games happen all the time.

Either way he still isn't fucking 40 in human years.

bro i read the leaks I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED KENJAKU TBH. that would have been sexy and antagonistic. yuta in gojo's body is just,,, yuta does NOT match gojo's vibes sdhfjkglsfdhg

thematically however it absolutely FITS for yuta to be back in the fight. no way yuta was dead. think about it! he didn't get a imaginary-final-moments scene like nanami, jogo, nobara (hhhh), or gojo.

i also SUPER appreciate that there was gojo characterization. yuta says that gojo was forced to be a monster all by himself, gojo tells yuta that he has to do this/to leave him alone, etc.

the "gojo had to be a monster" thing deserved so much more development. gege probably realized how much harder people would swoon if we got to see gojo being lonely, isolated, having people scared of him (not unlike yuta).

like damn gojo why did you train these students if you didn't want to fight alongside them? you literally said "no one will ever have to be alone"? it could have been a really moving story arc but it feels like we're only seeing pieces of it.

gege will show us yuji befriending junpei, nanami saving baker lady, nobara and her old friend, megumi and the delinquents, but not one (1) second of gojo forming connections with ordinary people, living his life.

and if gojo DOESN'T have a life outside sorcery then we deserved a scene of gojo coming home to an empty sterile apartment, not even turning the lights on, just brushing teeth, throwing off some clothes and falling into bed while he stares at the ceiling and dissociates -

ksjfhghlsdgf SORRY i'm rambling but listen. gojo is alive in our hearts where gege cannot reach him!!

TRUEEE when you put it like that it really does make sense for Yuta to take over, because Gege definitely hadn't used his full potential.

I think it just felt kinda like crammed into one chapter with all the flashbacks and everything. Though I DO appreciate how we get to see Gojo be more of a teacher.

Somehow some stupid little part of me STILL thinks Gojo will be back though?? Chat am I delusional???

I should know better than to trust a man, especially Gege but idk it just doesn't feel COMPLETE. Like fym Gojo was THAT sure he'd win??

Here's some lil predictions:

Both Yuta and Gojo end up dead, Yuji awakens some power and we see him get more MC treatment and defeat Sukuna.

Gojo and Yuta's powers get transferred to Yuji?? Somehow?? Maybe???

Yuta and Yuji fight together but ehhhh.

Oooo how cool would it be if Yuta actually defeats Sukuna but then gets corrupted or goes crazy and then Yuji has to defeat HIM.

I dunno either way I'm just sad that Gojo is a weapon both in life and in death. Let my baby REST.

Songs the Ninjago Fandom is Sleeping on.

Okay so while I do art there's only so much my chronic pain ridden hands can produce and so animatics/animations aren't really in my wheelhouse BUT I have a bunch of ideas and songs that the Ninjago fandom should use + some ideas that yall can totally use (@ me or send them to me though if you do cause I want to see them)

The Songs in question (it's be song-artist btw):

Always Gold-Radical Face: Is literally a perfect song for Wu and Garmadon, like it's literally about two opposite brothers treading wildly different paths like what more could you want

Brutus- The Buttress: Yall please I am begging that someone does something with this song relating to Morro's hatred/jealousy towards Lloyd because this song is absolutely perfect for it! Lines such as "-and if you want I'll call you king but why do I lie awake each night thinking "instead of you it should be me"" and "Please know my actions are not motivated only by envy, I to have a destiny" there are so many more but I'll let yall do the rest of the work (Also you could kinda do it with Wu and Garmadon but ehhhh)

Human Enough- ONR: This could work for multiple of the characters if you ask me but if you ship anyone with Zane or Pixal the song could totally work those two them specifically cause it talks about the singers partner/love interest being "made perfect" and idk we need more Pixal content soooo. Honestly any of the characters that get de-human-ed (for longer than one episode) would do great with this song, like Cole in his ghost arc, Nya after Seabound or Garmadon at like any point in the story. Line examples: "Cause you are made of perfect stars and I was built from broken parts" and "I'm not human enough to love yo right now/ I'm not human enough to cry or cry for" are my personal favorites.

Laplace's Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!)-Will Wood: Lloyd, Sora or Wu (Specifically the young version of him from the Spinjitzu Brothers books) song about the weight of the world being on your shoulders and not knowing what to do and like the consequences of actions and fun stuff like that

Easier- Crane Wives: Misako, like seriously so many Crane Wives songs work well for this woman because A) her whole attempt to change destiny or B) Her failure as a mother and you know the whole kinda cheating on her husband thing, but this one specifically cause it's a song about leaving someone behind and feeling bad while also not being able to stay. Lyrics such as "If you woke and I was gone from the house that we made our home would it bend yo, break you, overtake your heart?" and "I won't move but I can't stay here. So what the hell am I supposed to do?" and "If I were someone else, would this be easier?"

Stranglers Fig- This could definitely be a Cole (specifically relating to his father and dance backstory) or Kai song, many of the lyrics involve someone being pushed to do more and more and finally snapping because they've done everything they can and there's nothing left but their desire to be better. Lyrics "You bult your kingdom around me, now I'm trapped within your walls and all I want is to be free" and "Climb me to the canopy, higher, higher 'till there's nothing left of me." and "You're the culprit so don't blame me."

And that's all for tonight cause I'm tired BUT I will be posting a couple more of these cause I have a bunch of these floating in my brain and I'd love it if some of these idea's inspire people. Why are some loki fans making takes that portray him as a sweet innocent pure angel who is a wonderful good person who is aweet to everyone?

Like. Guys? That isnt what a god of chaos is

Me, at the fandom ^ I've been seeing this cycle around a lot since s2 came out, which is fine, people are allowed their own interpretations, but based on canon, I just don't see it like that? Loki isn't really a nice person in canon. He's a caring person, 100%, but nice is like ehhhh? Are you sure?

There is a massive distinction between Loki and Tom Hiddleston, and I think people are just blurring that recently because it's more tragic for Loki to have been a nice, sweet, angel who's constantly treated awfully, but Thor 1 doesn't really have any evidence for that. He's not...warm? if that makes sense. He's cold, aloof, and quiet.

The Loki series made him a lot nicer than he was before. He's so warm, with everyone, constantly. And I do find that somewhat irritating. I can honestly say that Loki is a nice person in the Loki series (except to Brad), which is kinda...weird, with retrospect? And, again, people are allowed their own interpretations, but I just don't view Loki as warm. Thor's the warm one between them. That's the one thing about Loki in Ragnarok that I will say I was glad they carried, because in Ragnarok, Loki isn't nice or wiggly. He's just kinda an idiot. and on the struggle train when it comes to a want, but that's a different story for a different time.

Do I want Loki to be cruel to everyone? No. Of course not. I don't want him to be cold to everyone either. I just think there's room for characters who are quiet to care quietly rather than with giant acts of love every 20 seconds, and Loki is a character who cares quietly.

That's one of the nice things about fics though, is you go and read them and Loki is so mean - but in a loving way (sometimes) - and it's just nice because it feels like him. Sarcastic, grumpy, quietly caring, growing on the characters because it's hard not to get attached to him. But the thing is, Loki's story isn't tragic because he's a nice, warm, loving character that was treated awfully by everyone in canon and then constantly got screwed over, it's that his circumstances hardened him to the point that he has to hold everyone an arm's length away and no one bothered to get closer and help him.

Now that I'm thinking about this and able to put it into words, I think that's why I liked what parts of the Loki series I did. When Loki hunts down Brad, when Loki tortures Brad, when Loki torments HWR, it was just nice because it felt like him, and I guess it felt like him because he was being mean. This is so weird. I think the important thing to remember about Loki is that he is, at heart, an extremely sarcastic a**hole who doesn't know how to communicate he cares about someone. He's one of those people that if you ask them "hey, can you do x for me?" he will immediately do it for you while saying "no, absolutely not, suffer" and then quietly take care of other things for you. Idk.

Ayyy, good question! Since the Mammon mid-finale's been out for awhile, it probably wouldn't hurt to chat about this fella some more! :>

Now, as far as Mammon's character vibe is concerned... honestly I don't really mind it? Kinda refreshing tbh to have a Sin embodiment be more of a straight-up asshole instead of secretly "nice"/chill (even tho I love Bee & Ozzie). His colors fit well to the theme of Greed too with all the greens, blacks, and bits of gold popping out too (almost a bit like a twisted play of the "Christmas = commercialism" concept?).

...Though, outside of that I'm a biiiit confused why they went with a spider-theming for him, anatomy-wise? .3. Unless they were going for a callback to IT's Pennywise ('cause yknow, clown lol)... I don't recall spiders being linked much to Greed symbolism? 🤷‍♀️ Also ngl, kiiiiinda hard to see all his extra limbs in certain frames too, 'cause when seeing full-body refs like this... at first glance I thought his arm on the right here was his ass lmao

Face-wise I'm admittedly a lil more "ehhhh" about 'cause like... idk I feel we've had that same "sharp jagged smile"-look in about 75% of our male HB (+Hazbin) cast by now lol .w.; Had they given him a different mouth (& maaaaybe a bigger-proportioned head? lol) I think it would've allowed some nice variety from what we're used to imo 👍

BL'S I'm Watching (August 2023)

In order of my enjoyment!

1. Only Friends - Breath of fresh air! It's messy, it's sexy, it's entertaining... it's got a lot of pairings I love seeing together. I like that it's just a more mature BL. Yes, the high heat is great, but it's about these characters feeling comfortable with their sexuality. I want more!

2. My Personal Weatherman - Always enjoy JBL's and high heat ones are even better because imo they always feel more realistic. The plot of this is a bit strange but the chemistry is great and I want to see where it all goes.

3. Hidden Agenda - Joongdunk are just so adorable. Besides the fact that they are just the most attractive pairing to look at, they have clearly gotten even more comfortable around one another. I like that the plot is going in a different direction than I expected. It's not the most amazing BL I've ever seen but I'm enjoying it.

4. Love Class 2 - I was busy last week so I am behind on episodes but I did enjoy the start of the show. A tad confusing on first watch but it made sense in the rewatch. An interesting plot with 3 different pairings to root for, so it's a fun watch. There are a few elements I don't care for but it's not too bad.

5. Dangerous Romance - A bit of a sketchy start and I can't stand bullies, but I am happy that Chimon and Perth get a chance to shine and I wanted more of them. Let's see where it goes.

6. Minato's Laundry 2 - Still a great show. Lots of cute moments. I think season 1 was better and Minato is irritating me quite a bit with his insecurities and pulling away. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me personally but I still like the show and will finish it out.

7. Stay By My Side - Not Taiwan's best, and the main pairing is a bit awkward in their kissing imo but I still the show is very fun and they are cute.

8. Laws of Attraction - Interesting-ish plot. A few pairings to root for. There is def. some boring parts and issues I have with the show but I am still liking it.

9. Be Mine Superstar - I find the plot of this one pretty boring TBH but I freaking love JaFirst. It's not their best series and I find Ja's character pretty awkward. But it's watchable.

10. The Wedding Plan - This plot is weird. Don't get the fake marriage or why the main guy can't be honest. I think the chemistry is alright but not overwhelming. I am not fully invested but its a short series and I wanna see how it goes.

11. Jun and Jun - ehhhh idk about this one guys. I can't get into it. I wanted to, but office romances aren't for me, and I think this one is especially boring. I like the chemistry between the main two but I find a lot of their moments a bit uncomfortable and there is a lack of consent in a lot of areas. Not Korea's best.

12. Stay Still- Not even sure what I am watching but its so short so I'm just kinda skimming.

On Hold:

1. I Feel You Linger in the Air

2. Lost in Translation

Tried the pilots of these and they felt very slow so I had to put them on hold for now and may come back to them later or if I hear good things about them.

Recently Finished:

1. Stay With Me - For anyone with doubts, this is definitely a BL. Some sweet kisses (though not on the lips) and lots of flirting and innuendo. A terrible ending but it'll apparently get a season 2, so I'll hold out. I genuinely loved this series!

2. Sing My Crush - Not big on musical plots and I found the storyline here a bit boring and like I'd seen it before, but it was okay. The main couple was very cute. Didn't love it as much as everyone else, but it was still good and worth the watch

EXTRAS:

Advance Bravely - Not currently airing. It's also I think technically a bromance but there are def. suggestive moments and scenes and I find the chemistry really good an entertaining so I'm enjoying it.

Catch Me Baby - Not currently airing. Only watched 1 ep and had to skim it, I found it very weird. I'm only really watching for Net/James.

lmao like everything else idk i want them happy. i've written loads of fluff idk how to quantify which is the happiest.

lol loads. at one point in life like... fifteen years ago, most things i wrote were co-written with a friend. and i've done it a couple of times after that too. i really like co-op stuff tbh but haven't found people to collab with lately.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

right now i would sell my soul for nivannedy. might already have.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

ehhhh at this moment i doubt i'll ever finish anything. maybe the lifeguard au? i was red-hot for the idea at first but then it kinda... fizzled out. kept changing. got ruined by pushy ppl lol. but maybe i'll get back to it one day bc i would love a nivannedy summer romance tbh.

16. What are your writing strengths?

uhm. characterization. dialogue. emotional shit? idk i think i do best when i have intimate moments with two people. tiny everyday moments and mundane shit. like that. if i get going writing sometimes flows super well and i think i can get consistently readable stuff done in one go. but that'd require getting going lol.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

action. i suck at action. i also suck at it in the way that i can't actually make myself start writing. i got way too co-dependent when i still had people excitedly participating in the process and now i sit here sad doing nothing :'D but anyway. writing action and having some self-discipline lol.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

depends very heavily on the context. in general i do think it should be all in one language for readability but there are exceptions. i've done it too lol but it was only like a line or two in finnish :'D

19. First fandom you wrote for?

diru, twenty years ago lmao, it's like a different lifetime. i only learned of the existence of fanfic at the ripe old age of nineteen lol but yeah it's still been so long now.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

asdjfngkn i can not choose between all of my children c'mon. uhm. am just gonna say the self-indulgent series bc it truly was so important to me for so long and i'm still devastated it ended. sigh. now i made myself sad again :'D
