IMMA SCREENSHOT SO MANY BOOKS
Tumblr media
So yeah, I'm going to screenshot as many books and documents in BG3 as I can. I've got 189 of them in a box in one of my saves, so wish me luck.
Here's the google drive folder!

Connie's new life purpose after defeating the elder brain is to give Shadowheart at least a taste of all the happy stuff he experienced when he was a kid. He's also very motivated to give her anything she never had while living in the cloister.

And of course he’s not telling you everything. Why did he feel he needed to “triumph” again? Why did he need to find treasure?
Come on empy, if you’re being so forthcoming with the details, be forthcoming with all of them.
He’s purposefully coding his language for you to assume some wiggle room. Maybe he’s just trying to steal from Moonrise, or maybe he’s an adventurer just like you (how much treasure have YOU stolen), or maybe you could find room to assume that he had justifiable reasons and he just got unlucky when the mind flayers got him.
He leaves it open to interpretation on purpose. And that, my friends, is very sneaky.
Balduran and Emperor
I've recently had a discussion with @mumms-the-word about the Emperor. Was Balduran such a bad person even before becoming illithid or did his transformation trigger a drastic change in personality?
Today I've defeated Ansur for the fourth time and made screenshots of what Emperor tells the player about his life as Balduran. Here they are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He says he refused to return to his city without greatness. So he craved power and recognition even before becoming illithid. He became worse after the transformation, but initially Balduran was not an entirely good person.

AITA for stealing from my friend?
I (F, 20s) was walking around the city the other day and ran into this guy (M, 30s, I think) I know. Turns out he now runs a smithy. I asked him what he was selling and he shows me this really cool armor that is exactly what I need, but when I ask him about the price, it's 11K FUCKING GOLD PIECES!
Like, dude, what in the hells?! That's pretty much all I've got!!! Bastard wouldn't even give me a discount as a friend. HELLO??? YOU WOULDN'T HAVE YOUR NICE LITTLE SHOP IF I HADN'T SAVED YOUR ASS!
Anyway, I sent this friend of mine (M, 200) who's very good at sneaking to rob him. Of course, he succeeded, but my other friends say it was an AH move.
So, what do you think, Faerûn? Am I the asshole or not?
What are these acronyms?

A sneak peak!
I’m not one to like…pat myself on the back for good writing because good writing is subjective anyway but I’m a little obsessed with this moment in the upcoming chapter of my masquerade fic soooo
just wanted to share an angsty moment for y’all who might be interested 😌 warning tho I haven’t edited it fully because I’m still working on finishing the chapter lol
~*~*~
She whirled and ran to the larger mirror in the room, the one that took up nearly a whole wall of the gallery. This was the mirror where she’d seen that woman, instead of her own reflection. She pressed her hands onto the glass, staring hard at it, almost through it, her eyes nearly crossing with her efforts to shift the perspective of the reflection.
Everything looked the same. The paintings depicted in reverse, the room empty except for her and the green-clad Gale and the woman who was watching her with a guarded expression. But Dani continued to look, desperate for a sign that she wasn’t crazy.
She saw movement in one of the doorways. A figure stepped into the room, looking around, and when Dani looked over her shoulder, there was no one in the doorway behind her. She turned her attention back to the mirror just in time for the figure to step into the light of candles.
“Gale!” She practically screamed his name. She pressed her hands harder against the glass, as if by sheer will she could sink through it to the other side. “Gale! Can you hear me? Gale!”
She banged on the mirror, the glass shuddering beneath her fists. In the reflection, her Gale, clad in blue and purple, owl mask glinting in the candlelight, stepped further into the room, seemingly unaware of her. She called out his name and banged on the mirror again. But it was no use. Nothing she said or did drew his attention.
“What the hells?” Behind her, the other Gale and the half-elven woman drew closer, staring in shock and alarm at the mirror. “Is that—me?”
“Yes that’s you,” Dani snapped. “That’s my you. And he can’t fucking hear me! Gale!”
She stopped as she saw him turn his head toward her, toward the mirror. He stepped over, frowning and examining the glass, his dark eyes trailing over almost every inch from the top of the frame down toward where her face stared out at him.
In the reflection, he seemed to be standing just behind her shoulder. Dani lowered one hand from the mirror, reaching into the space behind her to try and take his hand.
But her hand only met empty air.
“Gale,” she mumbled, her throat closing up. “Please, look at me. Tell me you see me, please.”
But he only continued to frown and study, his eyes roving slowly over the surface, passing over her several times without seeing her. Finally, after a long moment, he took a few steps back and started to turn away.
Another figure burst into the room from the same doorway he’d entered from: Karlach, in her black dress and thick leather boots. She leaned into the room, holding onto the doorframe with one hand. When she spoke, her voice was silent, but Dani could read her lips easily.
Any luck? she asked. The blue-clad Gale shook his head, turning away from the mirror. Karlach swore and straightened up. We’ll keep looking. Don’t worry, Gale. We’re gonna find her.
They left together through the magic show room, never once glancing Dani’s way.
~*~*~
anyways have a picture of Dani and Gale as thanks/reward for reading lol

Do you ever think about other companions going to visit Gale and Tav in Waterdeep?
Shadowheart making constant jokes that she's visiting the tower for one reason, and one reason only: Tara
Wyll is actually a dream guest. Makes his own bed. Has so many fun stories about being the Blade. Never mind those burnt pans in the sink from his attempt at breakfast! Here's some tea to distract you!
Karlach wants to visit the academy! Let her tell those adorable little kids to stay in school! Might break a desk or two because she's so excited to tell them stories about the heroes of Baldur's Gate! Did you guys know that one time Gale used his simulacra to make moves on Ta- wait Gale, why are you shoving her out the door?
Laezel is happy to see her friends again, and she knew wizards had lots of books... but are you sure you don't have a problem? There isn't anywhere to hang weapons from the walls? Where would you keep your armor? No, hush wizard. She will make you a place. Don't interrupt
Astarion is just there to cause a scandal for fun. Student coming into his office for a question? Darling, can't you see we're trying to have a sordid affair? Now, run along to the library and leave the grown-ups to have- Gale, stop throwing things at him!

WIBTAH if asked my friend with benefits what we are?
I have been hooking up with my "friend" (M, ~239) for the past several weeks and it's been nice. He's amazing in bed, he makes me laugh, we have a good time together.
But recently we've gotten a little closer? Like we don't just sleep together anymore. At first it was all a hookup, of course, but I can't help but find myself wanting more.
Here's where I might be an AH though. He has not had a normal relationship, well ever? It's really personal, but he's basically been trapped in a bad situation for two centuries. He didn't have a lot of freedom, he didn't get to know too many people, let alone get close to anyone. I might be the only person he's slept with that hasn't died has stuck around.
Considering his past, I feel kind of guilty for even wanting more. Especially knowing he might not be in the right headspace for it-- Like I'm taking advantage of his first time being free to hookup with whoever he wants.
That being said, I can't take it anymore! If he so much as punctures my neck again I mean. If he so much as looks my way again, I might really just sit him down for the talk. So I need to know, before I put my foot in my mouth, WIBTAH if I put him in that 'what-are-we' situation?
What are these acronyms?

if you raise the egg with Lae'zel and stay in Faerun, she'll mention to you in the epilogue that he's being watched by "your newest allies" who she "trusts completely" tonight and just immediately wondering who that could possibly be that Lae'zel would trust completely to watch your son.
and it just made me think, that if you're playing a Tav who isn't an orphan, maybe has some siblings and somewhat of an extended family who they might want to get back in touch with now that they don't have a tadpole threatening them and everyone around them and also they have a githyanki wife and child that they want to introduce people to, Lae'zel would have absolutely no vocabulary for even just most of Tav's familial relations but she'd defintely have no concept of "in-laws."
She thought parents were made up and fake until like a week after you started traveling together and she admits that her "cousins" she mentions didn't indicate a familial relationship in like a societal standpoint and just indicated that they hatched from the same clutch as her. So if Tav started throwing parents, grandparents, siblings, nieces, nephews, actual cousins at her? she wouldn't understand it. So like assuming they're all on good terms with Tav, I could absolutely see her being like "These people seem strangely devoted to you. They have many stories of your past that indicate that they have protected you, but could also bring you to ruin and humiliation should some of these tales be spread. We will form a powerful alliance with them."
like just imagining the epilogue, someone asking Lae'zel and Tav where their son is and Lae'zel being like "He is being watched by our newest allies who are utterly devoted to protecting and keeping him from harm" while Tav just simultaneously does "He's with my parents"

Per request by @trying-to-do-good some headcanons about Ardynn and Halsin in the Reclaimed Lands (formerly the Shadow Cursed Lands)
Obviously Halsin went on ahead with like nine wagons of children plus other refugees hoping for natural haven as opposed to city life and Ardynn followed after with more refugees in her wake
I imagine the reunion between Halsin and Ardynn was very sweet, even though they were only apart for a few days lol
Anyway they and the other refugees get to work basically taking apart all the existing houses and structures to rebuild them as new homes around the reclaimed lands. I imagine that the land still looks kinda rough, with chasms and pits, but that Thaniel has been sort of smoothing these places over with roots and vines to create safer walkways. The first few months of the reclaimed lands, the sound of hammers on wood and chisels on stone is the constant sound heard throughout the land, and people get a lot of joy in building something and resting from a day of hard work
Between Thaniel coaxing the land to yield crops and food again, and Ardynn hunting for meat in nearby forests, the people are kept fed while the land slowly heals. There are also idols to Silvanus and Mielikki everywhere, carved by people, brought over by people. Soon there are little carved idols for Thaniel too, made mostly by the kids, who love playing with him.
Ardynn and Halsin’s home is part wooden cabin part literal tree, and it’s a mixture of work by the two of them and Thaniel. The tree takes up most of one room, holding up part of the roof/ceiling and growing upward beyond it, and the rest of the house is built naturally around the roots using old wood from broken homes. Ardynn coaxes vines and climbing plants to grow along the sides, so after a time it becomes hard to tell where manmade walls start and nature begins. It suits her and Halsin very much.
I imagine everyone lives very close by, away from the town itself but in close-built homes. The building that serves as a home for all the orphaned children is very close to Halsin and Ardynn’s house, but as much as everyone calls Halsin “Daddy Halsin” and as much as the two of them consider the children their adopted/fostered kids, the community genuinely becomes very communal and everyone kind of raises everyone else. Kids know they can go up to almost anyone for help. And they spend most of their days playing and almost getting underfoot before eventually some refugees agree to build a school that rotates teachers and lessons (Ardynn teaches foraging, archery, and survival skills, while others teach reading, writing, math, art, and so on)
Ardynn loves the kids but at first she’s the one patrolling the outskirts, bow at the ready, because she’s not sure whether people will leave them in peace or not. I like to imagine eventually Thaniel can magically create a light barrier, almost hiding the lands from everyone, but not blocking access, either. More like when people get close they get a compulsion to seek another route, which they can ignore or counteract with charms or something. It keeps people safe without locking them in or making it so others can’t join them
Eventually the lands settle into comfortable patterns. There’s a dedicated patrol system, a school and plenty of playtime for the children, people work together to grow food or maintain homes. The community has a barter system—“I exchange my food for your services to repair my home” kind of deal—and money is virtually useless except for when someone has to leave the lands to buy a special tool to bring back. Disputes aren’t uncommon but they’re settled by a council of peers and Halsin is seen as the de facto leader with Ardynn a very close second (and any decisions they make, they make jointly and only after conferring with one another). On the rare occasion the community has to expel someone for crimes or endangering the community, everyone feels solemn and sad about it and treat it as a failure of the community as a whole (what can we do to better support our people so they don’t turn to these vile practices?)
But somehow the weight of leadership as an Alderman is lighter on Halsin’s shoulders than the weight of being Archdruid. It suits him, as does fatherhood, and Ardynn is there to support him every step of the way.
For your 100 followers, would you want to an epilogue scene for one of your OCs where all the little side characters you saved along the way have their own happy endings and they thank your OC and their romanced companion for making their lives better?
Oh gosh I’ve only had epilogues with Dani and Ardynn and they were both good beans who saved everyone they could. They’d have to set up a line and stand there shaking hands for 2 hours 😂
I do have headcanons about where a lot of people ended up, particularly in Dani’s game. Especially the tieflings. She helps the tieflings establish their own little neighborhood in Baldur’s Gate and makes sure all their businesses/schools get off the ground, like Bex’s bakery/tea shop and Alfira’s music school and so on.
Gale and Dani visit Rolan and his siblings regularly in Ramazith for magic discussions and tea and to mess with Rolan a little (well, Gale is there to be helpful, Dani is there to tease, she loves Rolan like a brother).
Dani is the number one most frequent customer of Bex’s tea house because she’s obsessed with her cookies and Gale loves Danis’s tea. Gale and Dani are among the very first people that Bex and Danis break the news about their pregnancy to, and Dani is elated for them.
Dani also regularly visits Alfira’s music school. She helps tutor the violin players on their music but she’s not suited to teaching all that much, since her advice is basically “you got it! Keep trying!” while trying not to wince. Gale offers to teach them spells until he realizes that bards have a fundamentally different understanding of casting magic than wizards do (I headcanon that bards don’t even use the same melodies for spells, like there isn’t a system like “Play A C F A to cast healing word” bards just sort of guess at magic and use their own music to convey the spell and whatever works for them is whatever they repeat; but this was absolutely frustrates Gale as a wizard because it makes replication and study wibbly wobbly)
Dani is a bit better at teaching them spells and Gale is interested in watching, at the very least, and trying to make sense of it all
I could keep going tbh. They find Zevlor a quiet place to retire, close to where the thieflings operate with Mol as their leader (Dani respects Mol’s ambition to take over the Guild but she’s also like “I need you to be in a house not a tent in the Guild headquarters” and the other Thieflings appreciate having a home to go back to after they’re done selling papers and stuff). I’m sure Cerys and Zorru join the flaming fist or something. Or get merc work. Idk as much about them.
I do think they Cerys, Zorru, Cal, Lia, and Zevlor form an unofficial militia on behalf of their neighborhood to deal with internal conflicts that they don’t want the flaming fist poking their noses in. Most of these conflicts end up roping in Dani too. Thankfully, conflicts are rare in the first couple of years, aside from some racist bozos Dani is only too happy to yeet from the neighborhood
And Dammon, of course, still has his forge. Dani and Gale regularly check up on him and they’re working constantly with him to find a way to upgrade or repair or even replace Karlach’s heart. The progress is slow but Dani refuses to give up. She sends Karlach little notes from Dammon all the time, usually as sending spells.
Meanwhile in Ardynn’s world she kind of loses touch with anyone not in the Reclaimed Lands with her and Halsin lol that’s a whole separate post tho, I have tons of headcanons for how Ardynn and Halsin shape the reclaimed lands as Aldermen of the commune
