"You're soft, you know," Joel stiffened at the sound of Ellie's comment. He had a feeling he knew where this was going, but decided not to indulge her. Not yet anyway, "for her."
"Ellie," his voice was careful, collected. So much for being any sort of subtle.
"I'm just saying," she holds up her hands innocently, playing as best as she could into her innocent child role, "and everybody knows."
“Nobody knows anything,” he insisted with a gentle, playful little tap to the side of her cheek, “y’all are always so nosey with everyone else’s business, makes me wonder what any of you ever get done.”
“Hey, I’m a kid, I’m not supposed to do anything,” she stuck her tongue but Joel’s hands settled on his hips as he gave her that look, “fine, I do some things.”
“Some things,” he twanged back at her, “like your chores, right? Which you should be doing right now, not harassing me, so get going.”
“You’re so stubborn,” she groaned, throwing her arms up in the arm, “and blind! Dude, just tell her!”
“Ain’t nothing to tell!” he called after her as she threw up her middle finger. If she would have looked back she would have seen the wicked, rosy blush that was covering his cheeks. His face felt warm enough to fry an egg on.
He wondered if people were really that perceptive or if just she was. He hated the idea that he was being so obvious. It wasn’t that he wasn’t into you, oh no. Joel Miller was into you; the whole picturing a future together, picturing you in his bed when he was alone at night, growing old(er) with you, type of into you.
He just had no clue if you felt the same. Even remotely so. And he wasn’t about to make a fuckin’ fool out of myself by making a move and potentially being wrong. The thing he hated most of all was the idea of a life without you. He’d rather keep you as a friend than lose you altogether.
Joel huffed at him, feeling pathetic with how lovesick he sounded. He wasn’t some sort of teenage boy, he was a grown ass man.
“Hey cowboy,” okay. He was a pathetic lovesick grown ass man, “whatcha up to?”
“Nothing,” fucking hell. Joel’s voice pitched up about three octaves as he glanced over at you, standing in the backyard like a vision. He never knew he loved sundresses so much; not until the weather grew warm and you started wearing them. You and those pretty little dresses were going to be the death of him, “just working on a few things around the house.”
“Hmm,” you mused as you walked over, ghosting your fingers along the flowers that had started growing, “need a hand? I’m done with the things I needed to do today. The rest are a problem for future me.”
“I like your thinking,” he agreed, setting down the hammer he’d absentmindedly picked up to look like he was doing something, “let’s call it a day.”
“Want to head to the river?” Your suggestion was followed by a sugary sweet smile that made him want to take you in his arms and kiss you, “we can bring some lunch and have a little picnic.”
He wanted to have a little more than lunch. But that was a conversation for a different day.
“Sure,” he agreed, a vain attempt at nonchalance, but if you noticed, you didn’t give it away, “let me just get out of these dirty clothes first.”
“Need a hand with that?” you teased, feeling emboldened for whatever reason. The surprised look on his face as he opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water was worth it, “I’m just teasing, Joel. No need to look so panicked. You change and I’ll get some lunch together. Do you think Ellie would like to come?”
“No!” he insisted quickly before realizing his gaff. You raised an eyebrow but remained silent, “she’s busy with her chores this afternoon. Kid’s gotta earn her keep, you know?”
“Mhmm,” you reached over and put a hand on his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze, “well, just meet me at mine when you’re done. Door will be unlocked as always.”
Joel watched wordlessly as you flounced away, skirt swishing and hips swaying. He was pretty sure he was almost drooling, but caught himself before anyone around seemed to notice. You were trouble; you were absolutely going to cause him to lose it.
And god, he was so here for it.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
You looked nervously around the kitchen, trying to figure out what you could throw together for a little picnic. You hadn’t really thought this far ahead - you hadn’t really expected him to say yes. Not that Joel had ever said no to you but still…one never knew. Maybe the dress was helping; you’d worn it purposely after all. Men practically became putty when they saw a woman in a sundress.
“Fuck,” you sighed to yourself, already mentally prepping the food as you grabbed the picnic basket out of the cupboard. You sang to yourself, “don’t fuck it up, don’t fuck this upppppp.”
You kept singing that mantra to yourself as you bounced around the kitchen and managed to whip up a lunch that wasn’t too shabby at all. By the time Joel made his way over to yours, you were flushed and breathless. His handsome face and lovely smile were almost too much for you. You felt like a victorian maiden in the presence of a man alone for the time.
Yikes. You really needed to get laid. Preferably by Joel, but that was a worry for another day.
“What’s got you smilin’ like that?” you could have sworn there was a knowing little smile on his face.
“Nothing,”you. You weren’t about to just freely admit that yet, “just excited to get to spend some time in the sunshine with my best guy.”
You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him. You knew you wouldn’t be able to take his reaction, be it good or bad.
“Come on,” he reached for the basket before you could even think about reaching for it, “let’s get going then, sweetheart.”
You warmed up under his saccharine gaze but let him take the basket nonetheless and followed after him.
As the two of you walked towards the lake, on the outskirts of the ever expanding Jackson, a few people here and there stopped to say hello and, you know, do the whole chit-chat thing. You loved talking to people and totally soaked it up…meanwhile Joel was a totally different story. He didn’t dislike people, not unless they gave him a reason to, but he wasn’t a big talker or mingler.
You wouldn’t say he was cold to others (Ellie totally would), but he was absolutely soft for you. Even if you didn’t know it, you had that man wrapped around your finger.
While he vehemently tried to avoid being stopped by anyone else, you looped your arm through his…and almost killed him in the process. You smelled sweet, not cloying so, but just right and your skin was dangerously soft. He should have gotten an award or something for how much self control he managed to exercise around you.
Meanwhile, you were oblivious to the internal struggle he was currently experiencing, instead talking his ear off about something Gemma had said to Ben but then did with Kerrie. He wasn’t sure, he was only half listening, way too distracted by you.
When you got to the lake, you slipped your hand into the basket and pulled out the soft blanket that you’d had enough forethrough to bring. You tossed it under the shade from one of the trees so neither of you would get too hot from the direct sunlight. You sat down and patted the space next to you, watching as he set the basket down, his brows knitted together in what appeared to be deep thought.
It wasn’t all that deep; he was trying not to stare at your breasts or how good they looked in that dress, or how your legs looked particularly enticing. If you were to sum it all up, he was basically trying not to be a pubescent boy and pop a boner at the sight of you.
Grown man he repeated to himself, you are a grown man.
“I don’t bite,” was it on purpose? Maybe, maybe not. But you liked the look of pure panic that his face morphed into, “unless you want me to.”
“Sweetheart-”
“C’mon,” you cut him off, enjoying this a little too much, “pull out some sandwiches because I’m starving!”
So was he. Just not for food. Well - you and food if he was being honest.
When he froze, you reached over him and pulled out the freshly cut fruit and sandwiches for each of you, handing it to him with an air of innocence. He gratefully accepted your offering, stuffing his face full before he could make too much of a fool of himself.
And from there, as always, the two of you feel into easy conversation, about life, this, that, and everything in between. You liked that about him - things were always so easy, so right with Joel. In the time since he and Ellie had arrived in Jackson the winter before, Joel Miller had easily become your best friend…and all around favorite person.
You wanted to tell him, really, but you were terrified of messing things up and losing him. It wasn’t worth the risk. Not yet anyway…and maybe never but yeah. Joel was it for you in so many ways.
"Berries," his smile lit up his entire face, effectively pulling you out of your little fantasy. You nodded as you watched him grab a ripe strawberry and pop into his mouth, "my favorites!"
"I know," ugh. How was this man adorable and dorky on top of everything else? It was unfair, "you told me."
"When? Like once in passing," he raised his eyebrows as you tried to play it off, "you remembered?"
"I remember a lot of things," you whispered, "especially about the people that mean most to me."
Joel was stunned, unable to think of the words to properly convey what he was feeling. He opted for a nod as he leaned against the tree, casting him in a golden, sunny light.
You grabbed a few berries from the bowl and gave him a wink before lying down on the back, staring at the fluffy white clouds.
The two of you settled into a comfortable silence as you ate the lunch you had packed, growing full and warm.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
After a while, you came up with a brilliant plan. You sat up and looked around to make sure no one was nearby before standing back up.
"Swim with me," you said suddenly as you grinned at Joel. He remained silent as you started to push up your dress, brown eyes wide and his throat feeling thick. You shucked the dress off and tossed it by him, "Joel?"
"O-okay," he was trying not to lose his control as you stood there in front of him, only a bra and panties. You were so carefree, uninhibited, and wild that it was infectious. You tied up your hair before walking over to the water and motioned for him to hurry up, "are you sure you want to-"
You jumped into the water before he could say anything else, remaining below the water for a few moments to let your body adjust the temperature difference. When your lungs started to burn, you floated back up and broke through the surface. Joel was standing at the edge of the lake, hands on his lips as he watched, a lazy little smile on his face.
“Water’s perfect,” you drew back your hand and splashed them gently, “come on in!”
You could see his hesitation and shook your head. You swam to the edge and held out your hand to him. He was weighing something in his mind, mulling over his decision before he eventually tugged off his boots and pants, kicked them to the side. It was a moment until he gathered up the courage to pull off his shirt - silly, he would say but you would argue otherwise - but he tossed into the pile of your clothing.
“Handsome,” you cooed softly as his shoulders relaxed. And he was, you weren’t just trying to make him feel better. You could see the scars and marks littering his body along with the freckles you already planned on connected with your lips, and the muscle under the softness. You loved him - all of him, “alright?”
“Alright,” he agreed before sitting down and dangling his legs in and eventually slipping all the way into the water. You could tell he was up to something but your musing was quickly put to an end when you felt his hands on your hips, causing you to shriek in surprise. You heard him laughing as you pouted at him, “what’s wrong, sweetheart?”
“You are a menace,” you turned around so you were facing him, settling your hands on his shoulders, “you, Joel Miller, are trouble.”
“Yeah?” he was practically vibrating under your touch as you tried to give him a somewhat serious expression. It fell flat, more of a sweet, innocent look, which made his heart even softer than he thought possible, “what about you then? What does that make you?”
“Sweet and innocent,” you grinned softly, “I’m a good girl.”
Fuck, fuck, fuck. Were you trying to kill him?
“Oh sweetheart,” he tried to keep it from sounding too much like a groan, “you are something else.”
You hummed in content as you closed your eyes and tilted your head towards the sun. You couldn’t have imagined a better day - but there was still one more thing you wanted to know that could make the day even better than anything else, “So, I was talking to Ellie…and she told me something interesting.”
“Ellie says a lot of things.” oh no. His heart was racing so quickly that he was afraid that he was going to pass out, “mostly nonsense.”
“I’m not so sure on that one,” you snorted in amusement, “do you wanna know what she told me?”
“I suppose you’re going to tell me regardless of what I say…”
“Of course,” you reached over and stroked his cheek, watching as a boyish grin grew on his face, “she told me that you like me. You know, like me like me.”
“And she said it just like that?” he asked, trying to his cool as you tried to read his expression.
“She did actually,” you stuck your tongue out at him, “are you gonna tell me if its true or not? Or are ya gonna leave me guessing?”
“Do you really need me to tell you or do you already know the answer?” he was deflecting, trying to make sure he hadn’t read anything wrong.
“I’m pretty sure that you’re hopelessly and madly in love with me,” you were teasing - but only just. You both knew that much, “but a little bit of reassurance doesn’t hurt either.”
“I am,” he confirmed after a few moments of tranquil quietness passed between the two of you. Inside you were practically screaming and bursting with joy. When you didn’t didn’t say anything, he grew worried, “is that…are you…okay? You’re makin’ me nervous sweetheart.”
“Yes,” you gave him the most dazzling smile. You paused for a moment before quietly exhaling, “oh! I’m in love with you too. If that wasn’t obvious….I thought it was, but I figured you’d want to hear it too.”
“I did,” he relaxed; every fiber of his being was humming with positive energy. Holy shit. You loved him. You were in love with him, “were you ever going to say anything?”
“Eventually,” you confessed, “but I kind of liked watching you squirm too. You look real cute when you blush, you know.”
“I do not,” he huffed indignantly, “I do not blush.”
“Whatever you say, love,” oh. He liked that sound of that, “are you going to kiss me or?”
“Do you want me to?” his eyes widened, “you want me to kiss you?”
“Very much so,” you agreed, “I would love it if you kissed me…finally.”
“Finally?” he asked, wondering if you’d wanted this for as long and as much as he had. The look on your face said it all.
“Finally.”

Jinsoul x Reader

Shoutout to @a-casual-kpopfan for making me a Jinsoul simp.
Tumblr media
Note: This is a work of fiction. Don't drunk drive. Call a cab.
Alcohol in an old plastic cup wasn’t the best, it didn’t taste good, and you would have surely preferred a fruit juice, but nobody at this party drank it for the taste anyway. You kept on drinking, tilting your head back to get the last drops out of your red cup. You tried not to drink too much and be responsible but looking around, you couldn’t see any water at all so you swallowed the rest of your beer-flavored saliva.
You leaned against the wall and scanned the room for the 10th time this night. You didn’t know whose house this was. You only knew it was a house. You weren’t the type of person to come to parties but when Jinsoul begged you to go with those puppy eyes, you couldn’t resist and left without asking many questions. You didn’t even change your clothes after your part-time and just hopped in your car with your very excited best friend and drove off.
The music was too loud in your ears, the drums hit in your chest and the bass vibrated throughout all your body. The lights were low so you couldn’t avoid stepping on every kind of litter on the floor, sometimes even people. Everyone kept bumping into you while they were dancing, pushing you left and right.
You kept walking straight through the herd of dancers until a girl bumped you harder than anyone else and looked you in the eyes. To your surprise, it was Jinsoul, with shaky legs and a half-filled cup.
“Oh, there you are. I've been looking for you,” she mumbled. Jinsould held onto one of your hands and with a yelp started moving wildly around you, taking you around the room. She reeked of alcohol, and so you did, but you knew for a fact she drank almost five times as much.
“You’re making me dizzy, stop it,” you complained, holding onto her shoulder to not fall into some stranger.
“Man, you gotta relax a little, you’re too stiff,” she laughed and started jumping around as if the music seeped into her veins, her hair bouncing into your face and arms at every movement. Blinded and deafened, you were at the mercy of Jinsoul.
“No, you’re too loose… Stop it, please.”
You didn’t know for how long you stayed in the house, there wasn’t a clock but it had gotten dark. It was starting to feel way too cramped in that place, a lot more guests arrived and you desperately needed fresh air.
When Jinsoul’s energy ended, she slumped on you. Your best friend’s body was like a bag of potatoes, she couldn’t stand straight anymore and was all over you. “Where have you been?” Jinsoul murmured into your shoulder.
“I was telling Chuu not to jump into the pool.”
“Huh? Oh, why did you have to keep,” she hiccups, “Chuu from jumping into the pool?”
“Because we're on the second floor.”
“Yeah, that makes sense. Chuu must be really drunk.”
“Just as much as you are,” you sighed.
“What, me? No, I'm not drunk. You know me. I don't drink. I always have one glass of wine for New Year's and Christmas and stuff. And sometimes I have a beer when people tell me that we should all have a beer like soccer and barbecue, you know, beer-drinking activities. But aside from that, I do not drink. And that's why I am not drunk.”
“What about all the cups you had before? I saw you,” you said and her eyes shot quickly to you, she rolled her lips in a displeased frown and shrugged her shoulders, “Oh yeah that.”
Jinsoul leaned back onto the wall, her eyes nothing but black orbs in that dark room as she looked around up and down. “Oh yeah, I had a couple of drinks. These guys here keep pushing drinks on me,” she started and you couldn’t help but feel a weird feeling creeping up your neck.
“They were trying to get you drunk, huh? What a bunch of creeps.”
“What? No no no no no no. Those people are really nice. They keep handing me drinks. I think they really like me,” Jinsoul gushed in an incoherent ball of words.  “We're friends now. I want to follow them on Twitter but I can't unlock my phone because my phone is on the password doesn't work.”
“Did you forget your password?” you asked. When Jinsoul gets drunk, she becomes a mess. She doesn’t stop talking and can’t even tell numbers apart. Being her best friend for so long, you have already seen this scenario multiple times.
“What? No. I never forget my password. My password is your name and your birthday and I wouldn't forget your birthday no matter how drunk you are or if I am or both. I would remember your birthday because I bought you that game that you keep gushing about that isn't out yet. I wasn't quite sure whether I should buy it for you because I was worried you might spend more time on it than hanging out with me but you seem like you really wanted it so I bought it for you. And well I didn't want to tell you that. There was some really important reason not to tell you but I can't really remember it right now…”
You raised an eyebrow. You didn’t know if you should have been surprised or confused, because you didn’t really believe what she was saying. Anyhow, it was clear how wasted Jinsoul was, and being her ride, you understood it was the time to get her out of here, now that she could still walk or try to.
“Well never mind I'm sure it will come back to me eventually…” she kept speaking as you pulled her arm. “Hey where are we going?” she whined, trying to pull the other way.
“To my car, Jinsoul.”
“Why? Why do you want to drive me home?”
“Yeah, that’s why.”
“Do you want to come to my apartment so you can like be alone with me?” Jinsoul smirked.
“Let’s say it’s like that,” you said. You didn’t want to talk any further as her head was completely empty now. Who knew where she was getting with that, her imagination was always wild.
“I knew it!” she screamed. Fortunately noobody seemed to notice her in the midst of the loud music so you were spared from the embarrassment you have to usually endure when you were out with her. “knew that, I totally knew that,” she said again then dramatically waved in the air, spinning around, “Bye everybody!”
“I'm going to go home with my best friend. He's my um... D-dissed... disem... demated... demated driver and isn't he so cute?”
“It’s designated driver,” you corrected her. “Let’s go now.”
“Hey! Not so hasty. I didn't even finish my drink.”
“Come on, do it quickly.”
“Okay fine. Just let me finish it okay? Mmm... yeah.” She chugged all her drink down, groaning in satisfaction, then some quick steps followed before she fell again. You quickly raised your arm to catch her and step back to stand upright. Jinsoul’s body was drooping all over you.
“Oh I feel dizzy,” she tried to say. “If you want some advice, don't mix rum with tequila. We put something in that rum that doesn't go with tequila like at all. Hmm... Why are you hugging me?”
“I’m not hugging you, I’m preventing you from breaking your damn head.”
“I mean I'm not complaining,” she muttered under her breath as if she didn’t hear anything of what you said. “I always love it when you hug me but…”
She tried to stand up and move away from you. You kept telling her she wasn’t okay but she didn’t want to hear you. Jinsoul stood up, putting her arms out to show you that she was just fine, then her legs wobbled and she fell onto you once again.
“Okay okay okay okay okay seriously obviously I can't. Maybe you should hug me again. Thank you.”
You were feeling weird from being this close to her. Maybe because you liked her. No maybe, that was why. You looked at her eyes, totally relaxed and sleepy. Jinsoul smiled, like the dork she was, and got closer to you, almost bumping your noses.
“Did I ever tell you that your eyes are like really pretty this close up?” she whispered. Her voice was warm and sultry—her charms were starting to have an effect on you. Those were the times when you must not listen to your head at all, telling you to kiss her. But that wouldn’t be right and you knew it.
Jinsoul closed her eyes for a brief moment so she could take a breath and raise her chin even closer to you. You shivered. “Are you falling asleep?” you said.
“Huh? What? No! Who is falling asleep? I closed my eyes because it was romantic. I was leaning in for a kiss but you missed your cue when you just left me hanging here with my eyes closed. So this is totally your fault,” she blurted out all at once.
“What did just you say?”
“Yeah, for a kiss. We are at a party. We are hugging and I'm looking into your eyes. Therefore, kiss.”
“You’re saying dumb stuff, shut up, let’s go home,” you said and tried to move but Jinsoul clinched your arm. You were really holding back here. Jinsoul was making this way too  hard for you, you might kiss her for real if she kept that up.
“No, I don't want to go home,” she insisted. “We haven't kissed yet. Here, let's try it again,” Jinsoul said and closed her eyes, pecking her lips. You didn’t do anything. “Hey, you missed your cue again. Seriously, honey, I am drunk and I know how kissing works. You must need a refresher course or something.”
“As if you know how to kiss.”
“Huh? Yeah, I kiss. You never kiss me even though I want you to.”
“W-what did you just say? Did—how am I supposed to know?!”
“Okay. Well, maybe that's because I never tell you that I want you to because... Well, there was a reason. I'm pretty sure of that but... What was it again? I didn't want you to know that I always think about kissing you that... But why didn't I want you to know that? Anyway, can you kiss me now? Come on.”
“No.”
“Hey, why not?” You could feel her shuffling closer to you, even more than she already was, and the warmth of the blossoming feeling in your heart that was burning more than any alcohol you have drunk that night. Jinsoul traced her fingers, against your chest, ignoring the crowded room and you fell into the wall.
She didn’t push you, your legs just got weak.
“You’re drunk, you don’t know what you’re doing,” you stuttered. “You can’t give consent in this state.”
“No, I totally am able to give contempt.”
“No, Jinsoul, you’re drunk, you aren’t thinking straight.”
“I am totally able to say I want this. I am. You're just not kissing me because I'm drunk. You're drunkphobic,” Jinsoul started speaking. She was rambling in the most silly of ways but, in the midst of the crowd, you could only look at her eyes glistening with the rotating colorful lights. “You are totally discriminating against me. And that's against the constant, oh, it's against my rights.”
“It isn’t.”
“It is.”
“It isn’t.”
“All right. Okay. Will you at least kiss me when I'm sober again?”
“Only if you brush your teeth first. You smell of alcohol.”
“Well, of course, okay, yeah. Um, so that's a yes then. Yay. I love you. Hey, do you know something that will sober me up faster?”
“Stop drinking.”
“Oh, so we're like a doctor now, are we? Come on, can I at least have a hug? Yeah, so wet I grabbed your butt. I always wanted to. Whenever I see it, and I haven't yet because there really isn't a good reason to just do it. But the heck, I can't remember it right now, like why I wouldn't. So, I believe it was probably the same reason why I never tell you that I want to kiss you or that I'm in love with you.”
“You’re in love with… me?”
“Hmm? Yeah, I'm in love with you silly. Why did it take you this long to figure that out? I mean, what was I supposed to do?”
“Tell me?”
“Silly, I couldn't tell you. Because if I had told you then you would have known and that... Actually, now that I think about it, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Sorry, sober me is kind of stupid, apparently. Can I have another iced tea? Hey, what are you staring at? Keep your hands off, he's mine.”
“They aren’t staring at you, but at me. Chill.”
“What? She was staring at you? You're mine. People are always staring at you and talking to you and flirting with you and you always... Oh my god, it always... it always gets me super angry and I can't say anything because I have to keep it a secret for some reason, but like I can't really remember which one right now, so…”
“Come on,” Jinsoul puckered her lips again. “Give me a kiss so they can see that you're taken.”
“No,” you snatched back at her, ignoring how her words tugged at your heartstrings. It was insane how she made your heart pound even while she was this blubbering drunk mess.
“Dang. What was I talking about? Oh yeah. You wanted to drive me home, right? Your home or my home? Because I'm fine with either.”
“Your home,” you said a bit harsher.
“Okay, my home… I don't think I have anything to drink at home.”
“That’s good news.”
“You know, like just water and stuff, but I do have snacks. Ooh, can we cuddle when we get there? Or do you just want to like put me to bed?”
You think carefully. It was just cuddling, right? Nothing bad. It wasn’t like you would have taken advantage of your best friend, if anything you were there to take care of her and help her fall asleep faster. The offer sounded very appealing, but no. “I just want to bring you home so you can sleep.”
“Oh, you do. Oh, now we're coming on strong. Not too shabby for someone who didn't know how to kiss a minute ago. I like it,” Jinsoul exclaimed, pointing a finger at you as if she shot you with Cupid’s arrow and winked.
You sighed happily. “No, you have to sleep, Jinsoul.”
“What? No, I don't need to sleep. Hey, you can take it slow if you want like cuddle. Don't you like me?” Jinsoul moved her head down, seemingly pouting at you. The alcohol amplified her feelings by 1000% and suddenly she got emotional and teary-eyed. She spoke softly and looked at you even softer. You felt her pulling you a bit and noticed her hand on your sleeve.
“I went to this stupid party because I wanted you to have fun and I'm always super nice to you and I always look you in your eyes and play with your hair and bite my lip because just because that would make you fall in love with me and now you tell me that it didn't work?”
Her words bounced off of you at first and you didn’t notice what she was saying, assuming she was just rambling mindlessly. But then you stopped walking and thought about what she said for a moment. It was on purpose? So you weren’t just going crazy, it was her! So many days, you spent going insane over her—one day she’d be your usual dorky friend, and the next, she’d look insanely hot and irresistible. Yes, she did have a very funny personality but she was a lady and her hips didn’t lie.
With your heart almost beating out of your chest, you leaned down and looked at Jinsoul in the eyes. She was still grumpy and wrinkled her nose to look angry. But she was cute.
“No, I think it worked,” you managed to say. Then you let out a breathy chuckle, squishing her cheeks with both your hands and forcing her eyes not to look anywhere else. “Jinsoul, of course, it worked, you’re such a pretty and funny girl, there’s no way I wouldn’t have fallen for you.”
“Huh? Wait. So, do you like me?” Jinsoul let her teeth brush her bottom lip as her mouth slowly opened on its own and she stared at you with wide eyes, her hair falling down to her shoulders, enchantingly so.
“Yeah.” You told her, with the softness of someone that knew had to say it at least 100 more times. You nodded your head and Jinsoul smiled.
“Yay, I knew it,” she cheered. “Come here,” she blurted and grabbed your face, brushing her nose with yours. Your mind started to run wild—you didn’t have anywhere to go, your hands were on her face and so were hers on yours. But then she stopped. “Oh, oh wait, wait, um, sorry. I have to wait till I'm sober again, right?”
She let go of your face and you let out a sigh of relief. “So that means like we could kiss tomorrow morning, right?” Those small words were filled with hope and desperation.
“No, you’ll be hangover.”
“No, what? I'm not gonna hang over. I never have.”
“You always do.”
“Oh. Well, will you be there to protect me?” She sulked.
“Yeah, fine,” you laugh. Of course, you’d be there for her, like you always had.
“Yay. I don't mind if I get a hangover as long as you're there to snuggle me. And did you have snacks at home? It's gonna be awesome. You know what, we don't need this stupid party. Come on. Let's get going.”
You pulled Jinsoul from the kitchen to the hallway, trying your best not to let her fall into anyone. On her way out, she would wave at anyone she met before and scream about how happy she was. When you got to the door, you noticed the little step and didn’t stumble on it—you were sober enough—but Jinsoul didn’t and she tripped into you.
You caught her full weight and stumbled back. Jinsoul leaned in close, her breath slightly sweet with the lingering scent of alcohol, and her eyes glistening with mischief.
"Darling, look at you, you’re so eager to hold me already,” she said playfully. “Why didn't you tell me you were such a handsome devil?"
You sighed and pushed her back upright.
"Thanks, Jinsoul. Now let's get you home before you start flirting with everyone."
“What are you saying?! I’m only doing this with you!”
“Whatever you say.” You try to get Jinsoul back on track but she stumbles again, holding you by the neck, her face dangerously close to yours. She hiccups and shakes her head in pain. A moment of thought and you realize she wasn’t putting up a show but was really unable to walk. You have no other option but to drag her to the car yourself.
You walked arm in arm, Jinsoul's head occasionally resting on your shoulder as she giggled and flirted with you along the way. Jinsoul looked like she was dreaming, continuously spewing nonsense. It was a long walk to the car, doing your best not to look tired because Jinsoul would get offended if you gave her any hint of her being heavy.
Once you reached your car, you put Jinsoul down inside the back door and she climbed into the backseat. With a loud sigh, you finally get at the driving wheel and take your breath. With your hands on the wheel, you tap your fingers, trying to gain back all your sanity to not crash your car.
"You're the best, you know that?" Jinsoul whines while slumping down.
“I'm just doing what any good friend would do."
"No, really, you're my hero tonight. My knight in shining armor!" she screamed. “Also, you said you’d be my boyfriend… we confessed to each other!”
“Alright, alright,” you ignored her words and started driving.
Arriving at her apartment complex, you helped her out of the car and walked up to her unit together. Jinsoul clung to your arm, you could feel the warmth of her body and how soft it was. Your cheeks heated up and your heart was racing.  She knew perfectly what she was doing and was nowhere near stopping.
"You know, you could stay the night with me. We could have so much fun!" Jinsoul said with a wide grin.
"Jinsoul, you need to rest. I'll stay until you fall asleep, but that's it."
Once inside, you managed to convince her to sit down on the couch while you fetched a glass of water from the kitchen. Jinsoul finally calmed down, she was too tired at this point, and she continued to watch you from afar.  You handed her the glass of water, and she took a few sips. You stayed with her, chatting about random topics to keep her mind occupied.
After some time, Jinsoul's eyelids grew heavy, and her flirtatious energy began to wane. She yawned and snuggled up on the couch, looking more and more adorable. She slipped on your lap and her arms fell to the floor. You let out a chuckle but didn’t move, instead, you caressed her hair, looking at her beautiful face. You took some time to properly observe her beauty because, after all, you deserved it.
“Honey, I’m so tired…” Jinsoul whined.
“I know, I know, you have to sleep now.”
“You know I really need something—someone—to hug…” she said while eyeing you, “It’s not going to be anything bad I swear. I just need some comfortable hugging partner so I can fall asleep better, what do you say?”
“Uhhh…”
“Will you refuse?”
“I…”
-The next day-
You wake up on your own, your head is still pounding lightly and your body is extremely tired. You look at the ceiling: it’s of an unfamiliar color. You try to get up but something is holding you down. Your first instinct is to look down and you see a leg, then you move your eyes closer and see an arm. You turn around and see the culprit, Jinsoul.
There, beside you lies a sleeping Jinsoul, wearing a cute pajama, and a cute headband. She shuffles lightly and snuggles closers, stroking her face to your shoulder, letting out incomprehensible noises.
“Five more minutes, honey, you’re so warm,” she says with a sultry voice.
What the fuck?

You have seen them before, but the sight always mesmerized you. They looked perfect together, like yin and yang, polar opposites completing each other.
He was tall, with a long messy curly hair, wearing a leather jacket and ripped jeans; bad boy-like style but had the sweetest smile. She was shorter than him, luscious hair in a high ponytail, long lashes and blushed cheeks, looking like a doll in her cheerleading outfit, holding his big calloused hand with her tiny manicured fingers. They turned heads whenever they strolled by the school’s halls.
Every morning, without fail, he would take her to her classroom before heading over to his own. You knew their path very well, after all, Chrissy’s classroom was just across from yours.
The rumors around the girl’s bathroom about their relationship were that after a few escapades under the radar, Chrissy Cunningham had finally broken up with Jason Carver to be with Eddie Munson.
Looking at him now, giving her a forehead kiss before taking off, you would’ve never imagined that you would be the one in her position pretty soon.
It never crossed your mind. You were happy for them, mostly because they looked as happy as one can be. And also because they just… fit, you know? Perfect match. But that wasn’t the reason you couldn’t stop staring at them. At him, to be precise. Of course you had a crush on Eddie, of all people. All available people.
It’s not like it was a big deal or anything. You have seen him around a few times, and something in him pulled your attention like a magnet. He was just an interesting guy to look at, especially when he was talking loud about stuff he was passionate about. It also happens that he has the prettiest smile, kindest eyes, great hair and dresses just like the rockstars on the posters you had in your bedroom. But again, it's no big deal.
That's what you keep telling yourself, anyway, when you overhear two girls talking in the bathroom between classes.
"I don't know what to tell you, but he isn't who people think he is–" says the first girl.
"Oh c'mon, the guy is known for being a freak. I don't know what you were expecting." says the other.
"That's not– I told you I don't like that damn nickname or whatever it is. Jason and the guys are such assholes for calling him that. Anyway–", the girl sighs heavily, "I just thought he was different, that's all."
"But different how? I'm still trying to understand why you thought it was a good idea to dump a quarterback to be with a long-haired frea–nobody! Don't look at me like that, I said nobody!"
You felt a bit of tension building between the girls, but the conversation was cut short by the bell. You left the bathroom wondering what must have happened, but you knew for sure they were talking about Eddie.
The jocks had called him "The Freak" mostly because he lives in the trailer park and likes to "play make believe" – that you were sure it was a nagging about his Dungeon & Dragons club. He wasn't great at school either, having repeated the senior year at least twice, but above all, he was so obviously in love with Chrissy, the guys thought he was delusional for thinking he could've a chance.
+++
You don’t know what happened, really. You weren’t sure how it happened either. You just remember seeing them apart. You noticed that Eddie was mostly with his DnD group and stopped being a frequent presence around your classroom hall.
Chrissy had reappeared hugging Jason's arm, her long ponytail swinging from side to side, while crossing the halls all giggly with him.
She wouldn't even glance at Eddie anymore. Sometimes during lunch time, you caught him looking at the couple every now and then. He seemed a little uncomfortable, you thought to yourself.
"Are you even listening to me? Hello???" your friend Betty said, looking annoyed at your lack of attention.
"S-sorry! Yeah, of course I am." you replied, trying to focus your eyes on something else than the heartbroken metal head on the table across the room.
"So what was I saying??" Betty huffed.
"You were complaining about the amount of homework we have this semester…?" You tried.
"Ugh, it's like talking to a wall. Have you finished eating? I wanna get out of here."
As you got up to leave, you decided to give Eddie a quick glance as a sort of silent goodbye. Realizing that he was already looking at you made your heart jump on your chest and you immediately felt your cheeks flush.
He gave you a shy smile, but you convinced yourself that it was definitely for someone else as you have never had any interactions with him so far. You quickly readjusted your gaze to your friend's direction and bolted out of there.
Since then, every time you shared a room with Eddie Munson, somehow you would find him in the crowd just a few moments before his gaze found you back.
You would stare at him as if it was some sort of competition or animal kingdom shit, where you would assert dominance by having him looking somewhere else first. But it never happened. He would smile and you would panic, immediately changing your gaze.
+++
You remember that morning as if it was yesterday.
It had started raining when you turned off your car in the school's parking lot. You knew it was gonna be a cloudy day, but there's was no mention of a freaking storm on the weather forecast the night before, or else you would've known since your mom always gave you a heads up before leaving for work in the morning.
Before grabbing your stuff from the passenger seat, you stopped for a bit to look at the sky and mentally prepare for how drenched you were going to be before the first period. And of course it looked like someone was power-washing the parking lot. You couldn't see shit. Great! Today's gonna be great, you thought.
If you considered your options too much, you were going to head home and call it a day. You HATED when it rained and you had to leave the comfort of your home, or anywhere with a roof, to be honest. But you couldn't skip class because you needed to keep your attendance under control – last year you almost didn't pass Chemistry.
So you decided it was now or never, and opened the driver's door with a jolt. You jumped out of the car with your bag over your head as a makeshift umbrella. Squinting your eyes, you sprinted to the school's entrance while you felt your feet landing on puddles here and there, your shins getting more and more wet.
You arrived at the school's hall shivering but pleasantly surprised for being less soaked than you thought you would be. Still, your legs and feet were wet and it would make you feel even colder and uncomfortable during the day.
As you were heading to your locker, you saw Mrs. Harris strolling across the hall. So you quickened your pace and made a detour to the Art's classroom, to ask her if you could borrow the hairdryer they had in there– it was supposed to help dry glue faster, but now it could be a great tool to help you dry your clothes.
She let you use the hairdryer for 7 whole minutes before the bell rang and she shooed you away to your own class. It was good enough though, now you weren't feeling as cold anymore and your clothes felt comfortable again. Maybe this could be a good day, after all.
You ran to your locker to grab your books for the starting class. When you opened it, a folded paper fell to the floor. You quickly picked it up as a reflex, but after analyzing it for a bit, you found it odd as it didn't look like the pages of the notebooks you own. It had blue lines, and yours were a dotted pattern.
You opened the paper.
"You have beautiful eyes. – E.M."
What the fuck–WHAT THE FUCK?!

If you're familiar with the nickelodeon show Victorious, can you do a Billy Loomis x reader who's a lot like jade west. They meet and become close and deal with her savagery, and tell about ghostface cause he has a crush. At one point she breaks up with her boyfriend (Beck) like in the show, and Billy tries to comfort her. Then they become high school's scary couple.
I watched this when I was like 10 so it has been a while, so it may not be exactly what you meant lol. I still hope you enjoy tho! I changed some stuff around to better fit the plot of scream and the cannon violence of the movie.
(Contents: cursing, smoking, drinking, violence and murder)
We were made for each other darling…
Y/N knows she’s an asshole, mean, snarky, whatever you want to call her she doesn’t give a shit. She’s the school's bad girl and she’s proud of that fact. Her boyfriend, Beck, is down to earth and a good person all around. Nobody knows how you two got together and why on earth someone like Beck would be dating the antichrist of Woodsboro High School. She has a few friends, she usually keeps to herself anyways so no need for friends. Y/N was doing her usual teen delinquent stuff when she caught the eyes of Billy Loomis. He’s the hottest guy at this god forsaken school with his bad boy attitude and pretty brown eyes. Any girl in their right mind would have the hots for him, Y/N included. The bell rang to go to first period, Y/N could have sworn that she felt Loomis’s gaze on her as she walked to her history class.
(Billy’s POV)
Billy has had the hots for Y/N for forever it feels like, he has always had vivid daydreams of them just… existing together, holding and loving each other. But, two things stood in the way of his dream. Sidney and Beck are like a road block for him and he doesn’t know how much longer he can go without your love. His plan involved Sidney, so he needed her and cheating was off the table because he knows Tatum would draw blood and Y/N would fight right back. And Beck? Well he could kill him whenever he feels like it, the murders have put everyone on edge for days so he knows if he gets close to you, you would come to him for comfort because you're scared. God, He wishes it was easy to get what he wants.
(Your POV)
It’s lunch time and you're sitting with Beck and his friends, when you feel Billy staring at you again. You have to admit he’s cute, but this is getting a bit creepy. “Hey, you ok? It’s like you're on a different planet.” Beck said, putting a hand on your shoulder. “Oh yeah, I guess I'm tired or something.” you said, deciding to ignore the staring Loomis behind you. Beck smiled at you and gave you a squeeze, then continued talking with his friends.
After school you were walking home when you felt someone follow you, when you turned around you saw the figure of Billy Loomis. “I didn’t know you were into stalking Loomis, are you some kind of creep who's obsessed with me or something?” you said stopping in your tracks and putting your hands or your waist. He just chuckled “No, I didn’t know it was a crime to walk behind you though. I’m just trying to be friendly, that’s all.” You just rolled your eyes, “You have a strange way of making friends, Loomis.” Billy ran his hand through his hair and got closer to you, “How about I walk you to my house and we watch a movie? Then you can decide if I'm worth your time.” you smiled and started to walk, “Deal, but you're buying the pizza Loomis.”
It’s been a few days and you could say that you and Billy were good friends. Watching movies, smoking a cigarette or two together made up most of your evenings. You two just clicked, it’s like you were made for each other, and you could say there was something besides friendship budding between the two of you. Your time with Beck was replaced with time with Billy and Beck wasn’t happy about you hanging out with another guy so much so he dumped you. You were heart broken, but Billy was there with open arms to comfort you. That event only made the two of you closer and the spark between the two of you burned brighter. Now you were going to Stu’s party, school was canceled because of the killings. But hey, no school and a night of free booze? You can’t complain about something like that. You were currently in Stu’s kitchen drinking your bodyweight in alcohol, mostly because Billy was paying more attention to goddamn Sidney Presscott instead of you. As much as you would like to say you weren't jealous, you totally were. But all you can do right now is try to let loose and try to forget about your feelings for your friend. You poured yourself another drink when Beck walked up to you, “Y/N? Why are you here?” he asked with a stupid look on his face. “What does it look like dumbass? I’m trying to get drunk.” you said rolling your eyes to show your frustration. “Look, you don’t get to be mad at me, I have the right to be upset about you and Billy. There is something going on there.” Beck said with more anger in his voice. “Are you calling me a cheater? I told you we are just friends, nothing else. You're the one being irrational!” you yelled getting more and more sick of this conversation. “Oh please! What else were you doing with him? It’s not like anyone would actually be frie-” He didn’t even get the whole sentence out before you punched him square in the jaw, as you walked away you heard yells and cheers from your drunk classmates. You sat yourself down in a random room and just tried to catch your breath. Then you felt someone sit on the bed beside you, you could tell just by the cologne that it’s Billy. “Heard you punched Beck, sorry I wasn’t there to see it.” Billy said putting his hand on your thigh, it may have been the alcohol or the anger and want pulsing through your veins. But Before Billy could say anything else you smashed your lips on his pulling him into an aggressive makeout session. When you two parted you looked at Billy’s face and said. “I think I’m in love with you.” Billy ran his hands through your hair and said “Me too, I always had a thing for you.” then it dawned on you, “Oh god what about Sidney?” Billy had a dark look in his eyes. “Don’t worry about that doll, she won’t be alive long enough to know about us.”  “Billy, what do you mean by that? Wait, were you the one killing all those people?” you asked looking into his eyes. “I was, and Sidney and her friends are next. Stu and I have been working on this for years.” Billy rubbed his thumb on your bottom lip. “Are you scared of me? Gonna call the cops?” he asked in a low husky voice. “No! Don't worry about that Billy.” Billy looked at you with a smirk. “I always knew you were like me, god you were made for me.” he said “I have one request though.” you said, “Anything you want dear.” you giggled darkly “let me help slaughter some bitches.” Billy smiled wide, “Deal”

Strauss sullenly folded himself back into the grimy front seat of the “borrowed” pickup. The fresh night air had cleared his system, and now coming back to the cloud of tobacco smell that emanated from the vehicle was just about making him retch. How did he put up with this earlier?
Maybe it was just that the adrenaline had worn off. Sylvain crumpled her face in a stark sneer as she hoisted herself into the driver’s seat. She apparently was not pleased by the smell either.
“So. Got any special requests?” She asked as she fastened her seat belt.
“Requests?”
“For dinner.”
“Ah.” Strauss looked down and away. “I only know of one establishment that has feeder mice, and I am quite certain I am banned from the premises.”
“I was hoping to get an answer like “a young virgin” or something more normal for a vampire. But you’re right, we’re going to have to avoid anywhere you could be recognized. Especially after that little incident.”
“Incident? So you know about what happened at the pet store?”
“Buddy, the entire town knows. You think people don’t talk? People won’t shut up about you. Despite my best efforts, I may add.”
“Best efforts- wait.” Strauss turned to Sylvain with a harsh stare. “What, exactly, were your best efforts?”
“Back off Strauss.” Sylvain flashed her teeth in warning. “Relax, nobody died. I considered it, but it was already too late for that to help. You already know my persuasive psychic talents are, shall we say, more developed than most. I did a little test to see just how developed. That’s all.”
“What have you done?”
“I tried to wipe a few memories.” She shrugged, and put the car in gear and slowly ambled down the drive and back to the main road.
“I started with the girl at the pet store. She was the epicenter of most of the rumors anyway. I persuaded her to forget. I had to keep visiting her. Checking up. Seeing if it worked. Seeing if it would come back.”
“Did it?”
“It always did.” She grumbled. “It would work for a while, but she was too close to the action to just let it go. Then she started getting bold, remembering me, trying to record me… I had to give up on that one.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t make an end of her.”
“Oh, believe me, I wanted to. But she’d already talked, and if she died after that, the conspiracy would only escalate. I had to focus on whoever she talked to. They were easier to convince. Everyone is already predisposed to thinking you’re some sort of crazy homeless person. I just needed to convince people the eyewitness was crazy too. Easy.”
“Why go through the effort on my behalf? On behalf of the Institute?”
“Cute, you think this was about you.”
The vehicle lurched forward, gaining momentum. Strauss found his hand involuntarily gripping his seat.
“You know damn well that a vampire lives and dies on secrets. When you started pulling bullshit in public, you didn’t just fuck up Artie’s little science project. You put a lot of people at serious risk. Sure, a few people here and there could be bought off. But what about the ones that kept talking, hmm? Do you have any idea how fast conspiracy theories travel online?”
The engine of the tormented pickup whirred with mechanical urgency, the pitch increasing with its speed.
“No, you don’t know that. You’re probably blissfully unaware of how the internet even works. You don’t know that one conspiracy theorist bitching about vampires can become a camp of true believers overnight. You don’t know what a viral video is, you probably didn’t even know there was security footage that the Institute had to buy to cover your ass, did you? And when I came along and started cleaning up your little fuckup, what do you do? You fling yourself into fucking traffic to stop me.”
“Into traffic- you mean to tell me your attempt to kill Mr. Samuel was your misguided attempt to protect vampire kind?”
“The fact that you call it misguided is exactly the fucking problem. As long as he’s alive, he’ll talk. If he talks, he’ll be believed, and if he’s believed then there goes our way of life. Don’t you get that?”
“It sounds more like you’re desperate for reasons to use your strength to harm human beings.”
“Is that what you think?”
“It is. I think you have too much power and no outlet for it. Where you cannot find an outlet, you invent one, and you pretend that the torment of innocent bystanders is justice.”
“Big talk coming from you, when you’re the one who made them bystanders to your carnage in the first place. Only one of us has put their fangs on Mr. Samuel if you recall.”
“Perhaps you should ask him which of us he agrees with.”
WHUMP.
Strauss catapulted from his seat and into the windshield, painfully connecting with his head. A dark cloud came over his vision momentarily, then dispersed.
“What in Hell was that for?” He demanded, sorely rubbing his forehead.
“We got cherries in the rearview, chief.” Sylvain motioned to the mirror, and Strauss realized they were being tailed by a car blazing with lights. They hurt very much to look at.
“I believe that is a police officer.”
“Yeah, we’re getting pulled over.” Sylvain sighed. “Probably because it got reported stolen.”
Strauss sat nervously in his chair. “What are you going to do?”
Sylvain turned to him with a grin. “Try and relax, Lu.”
A fat headed and impatient looking officer approached the window with a flashlight drawn and pointed. It was difficult to aggressively point a light, but somehow or other, he was managing as he carefully approached the truck.
The driver’s window rolled down slowly as he made his way to face the pair of carjackers. “Hey. Ma’am? You’re going pretty fast back there. That’s a forty? Yeah? You were going sixty five. Can I see your driver’s license?”
He was trying to sound authoritarian. His annoyance peaked in his voice as the petite female driver only reacted with a droll smile.
“Hey officer. You got a body cam on?”
“The red light right here indicates that it’s recording, yes ma’am.”
“Turn it off.”
She demanded it. The officer obeyed, and instantly flicked the switch off without a question. Sylvain reached through the window and grabbed the cam and yanked it from the poor fool’s uniform, crushing it in her hand like a rotten peach.
The officer seemed surprised, but didn’t react, except to slowly lower his flashlight and stare blankly, fishlike into the vehicle.
“So Lu, you want this one?”
“Sylvain, no. Let him go.”
“Why? You were just going on about how I was looking for excuses to abuse power and how pissy that made you. Well, nobody is worse about abusing power than cops. Maybe you’d be doing some poor schmucks a favor. Come on, it’s not like you haven’t offed people who deserved it before.”
“Mildly inconveniencing me is not deserving it.”
“Oh he’d do more than that to you, Lu. You’re in a stolen truck. You’re going to jail if you don’t make a decision here, how long do you think you could pretend to be human under strict observation? Or, you could cover your tracks now…”
Strauss looked to the officer, who, despite his stunned silence, was pleading for help with his eyes.
“Sylvain… picking off a cop is stupid even for you.”
“Excuse me?”
“Use your head. There is no death more public than that of a police officer. Surely you understand that. Do you think your camera trick will work for long?”
Sylvain stared shark-like at her companion for some uncomfortable minutes, before cracking a smile and laughing back at him.
“Yes, good. You can be taught.” She turned to the officer with a scowl.
“Get the Hell out of my sight.”
The cop stumbled backwards and fell onto the shoulder. When he found his footing, he ran into the dark, away from the road, and away from his car.
“I’m so proud of you Lu. Using that big beautiful brain to think ahead. Took you long enough.”
“Were you actually going to kill that man?”
“No. If he’s tailing a stolen car, other patrols will be by any minute now. We need to ditch this thing and walk for a bit.”
She kicked open the door and slid to the ground, leaving the truck behind her with doors open and lights on. A beacon for the cops to find and busy themselves with. Strauss followed her lead, trailing behind her slowly as they made their way to the roadside and began to walk.
“We’re going to have to move quick. I can get one cop to fuck off, doing a few at a time is a bit more of a stretch. Unless you wanna help.”
“I will pass, frau Pietra.”
“Well, hurry up. I’ll still need dinner before bed time. I want to have a bit more fun before your handlers turn up for you.”
“What makes you think they will?”
“Probably because they’re tracking you from that smart watch in your pocket.”
Strauss froze. “How… did you know I had that?”
“Not denying it? Smart man. Lu, I was a lead hunter at that institute for years. When I died, there was so much going on, dear Frau Harker didn’t revoke my security clearance. Maybe she forgot, maybe she thought I wasn’t coming back. Maybe, juuuust maybe, she thought she could put me back to work.”
Sylvain looked over her shoulder at Strauss. “I’ve been watching you come and go on GPS for a while now. I’m jealous, you know? They’re more open with you than they were with me. It’s kind of funny.”
“What are you going to do to me?”
“For now, nothing. As long as you stay polite. Maybe I’ll hang out long enough to have a little reunion when security turns up. I have some folks that I’m sure are dying to see me.”

“Hello, Keri, my love! I am so sorry, a thousand apologies for calling you on a Saturday morning when I know you’ve likely been out last night getting very, very drunk!”
Those warm tones of a mostly Indian accent, punctuated every so often with little American twangs, were the last she expected to hear at 10am that morning, getting out of bed and heading into the bathroom so as not to wake Angel.
“Uncle Sunni!” she gushed excitedly, softly clicking the door shut and closing the toilet lid to take a seat.
“The one and only!” he chirped, Keri grinning widely. She swore, for every year that she’d known him, his accent had gotten stronger for returning to his parent’s homeland. “How are you, darling?”
“I’m really good! How are you and aunt Bee? And my cousins?”
“We are all very well, thank you for asking. Saanvi has decided she is a Miley Cyrus girl now, so this is all we have playing in the house, Sita is doing well with her dance classes, and Sanjay is awful. Please come and take him away!” His joke about their youngest had her in soft fits, Sunni continuing. “Listen, I was calling to get a hold of my brother-in-law, is he around? I cannot get through to his cell, your mother’s neither,” he spoke, hoping that all was okay with the family.
“Well, mom is in at work today doing some overtime, and I think David might be working on his truck. I don’t know, I’m not at home right now,” she revealed, finger combing her messy hair.
“Ahh, I shall keep trying him, then. He is probably listening to that bloody god-awful Rainbow music. Since you’ve been gone? Since I wish you would go, more like!” he exclaimed, snorting with laughter.
“That’s a classic!” she exclaimed.
“Oh, classic nothing!” Sunni yelled, his volume making her laugh. He always got louder by about twenty decibels whenever excited or trying to make a point. “That and his Boomtown Rats! I don’t like Monday’s? Nobody does, Bob Geldof! Bloody sit down and be quiet!”
She sat there in hysterics at his usual comic observations. Sunni was one of very few people who could legitimately make her cry laugh, her sides hurting. Usually from the hilarious banter he and Bee got into together, or the berating of her stepdad’s taste in music.
“So where are you, then? You say you’re not at home, are you in work? Did I disturb? I am sorry if I’m getting you into trouble,” he then asked, courteous as always.
“No, I quit my job recently. I needed more time at the weekends, plus with leaving college approaching and not wanting to have anything to tie me down so I can travel a little, I needed to do it soon anyway,” she began in explanation. “I’m at a hotel right now, my boyfriend is up visiting from Southern Cali.”
The noise of interest Sunni made had her in fits once more. “Oh! There is a new boyfriend on the scene! Have you been with him for long? Would I approve? What is he like?” She sat and gave him a brief outline of Angel to pacify his multiple questions, Sunni making little ‘umhm’ noises as she spoke.
“It sounds like you are very happy with this man, early days or not! I would fetch your auntie for you to have your obligatory girl’s talk, but it is her turn currently trying to get Sanjay to bed, and he is being an absolute horror about it!” Her youngest cousin Sanjay had just turned two and was most definitely living up to the term terrible two’s. “Anyway, I might as well tell you why I was trying to call David, share with you our news. I have been accepted for a post at Utah Valley Speciality Hospital, so good news, darling. We are returning to America.”
“Oh my god!” she screamed, suddenly clasping a hand over her mouth. “Oh my god, that’s amazing!” she then added much more quietly, drumming her feet softly against the tiled floor. “I can’t wait! When do you come back?”
“Not for another three months, just while we finish getting everything sorted at this end, selling the house, etcetera. We didn’t tell anybody, just in case it didn’t come through, but now that it has and there is also a chance that your aunt could have a job also opening up at the same hospital, now that Sanjay is of preschool age and she can return to work, we felt confident in sharing the news.” he explained, delighted at his niece’s reaction.
They chatted for a short time longer before ending their call, Keri absolutely ecstatic to have some of her favourite family members returning. Tying her hair up, she brushed her teeth and took a quick shower, coming out to find Angel checking his phone.
“What was all the excitement for? I heard a squeal of ‘oh my god’,” he grumbled, still sounding half asleep as he placed his phone back down, a hand sliding into her towel to stroke her hip.
“That was my uncle on the phone. He was trying to get a hold of my parents, but they’re not picking up. Anyway, he told me he and Bee are moving back over here, he’s got a job at a local hospital, so I’m over the moon that I’ll be able to see them regularly instead of once a year,” she shared.
“Yeah? That’s great, baby. I know you hated that they lived halfway around the world,” he replied brightly, just as his stomach began to growl. She raised an eyebrow, shaking her head as she leaned to kiss his abdomen. “I think I need feeding.”
An hour later and they were sitting inside a small restaurant, hard wood surfaces, Edison light bulbs and plants strewn over the large shelves that flanked the black walls, Keri bouncing in her seat with excitement at one particular dish on the menu.
Angel looked over at her with a smile. “You just saw the peanut butter pancakes, didn’t you?”
“I did!” she squeaked. How well he knew her. Anything with peanut butter, and Keri was on it in an instant.
Reaching for her hand, he squeezed it gently, thinking how adorable she was. “Y’all a hundred percent too cute, mamacita.” Her beamed smile made his heart skip a beat, sitting there feeling like he was the luckiest guy in the world. While the waited for their food, they sat and discussed her ever nearing departure from college, meaning that for the following three weeks they wouldn’t be able to meet with her workload going into overdrive in preparation to finish, but when she did, she had some plans.
“I’m going to book going over to Galway, but not for as long as I originally wanted to. If you could come then that’d be great, I think Aaron and Rachel are down, Frankie too. Jaime won’t be because of work. So yeah, we’re planning on that to be for two weeks. Then I was thinking of driving down to Santo Padre, maybe basing myself there for a while, travelling around Cali. If you don’t mind, that is?”
He put on a thoughtful face, scratching his chin. “Hmm, do I mind having my beautiful, sexy, funny, amazing girlfriend around more often? Hmm, lemme think on that.” She began laughing softly through her nose, leaning over to kiss him. “Of course, I don’t mind.” Despite the joviality of his statement, he felt a pit in his stomach at hearing her plans to travel. He pushed it down, though, reasoning that she wanted to stay with him in her time between.
“Good, because you’re stuck with me now.” There was truly nobody he’d rather be stuck with. Their weekend went by in a blur, Keri holding him tightly before he departed, crying in his arms at how much she anticipated she was going to miss him. He hated leaving her behind whenever he had to go home again, but the buzz inside of knowing he’d get so much more time with her over the spring and summer alleviated the sadness of being separated from her.
While they were parted, he took his mind off it by putting in some serious time around the yard, taking on extra shifts, deciding to re-decorate his bedroom and make it look a little better than the mismatching bare essentials vibe, seeking some advice from a certain lady.
“You need a theme!” Sharise exclaimed, taking a cart from the front of the local homeware store, buzzing already. If Mrs Reyes thrived on anything, it was a decoration project.
He viewed her with mild disgust, his nose crinkling. “A theme? Nope. I saw a picture online and I want that. Dark green walls, white ceiling. I got new furniture on the way, too. I just need things to make it look less empty.”
“Rug, lamps, artwork, candles,” Sharise began to list.
“No candles!”
“Yes, candles!” she stated emphatically. “Keri likes them, she told me which is her favourite. Black coconut by Yankee, and they sell them here.”
He took a pause for a moment, his brow creasing. “Are you two making plans behind my back? Is this a little scheme you’ve cooked up to get some damned chick litter all up in my space?”
Sharise threw her head back, entertained at the chick litter term. “No! We were chatting the other night, she replied to one of my stories I put up with my candle collection all burning, and she mentioned she liked Yankee candles about as much as I do. Us girls talk about things like that, you know.”
“Hmph.” His mutter was then followed by a speedy swerve around the cart, Sharise attempting to put some large cushions into it. ”No cushions! My couch is fine as it is!”
“These are for the bed,” she clarified, gently slapping his arms, grabbing two more that were slightly darker.
“I got pillows, I don’t need ‘em!”
“They’ll finish the bed nicely, add a little depth of comfort.”
His face was a picture of confusion. “They add... what?”
“And when you’re having sex, you can pop a couple underneath your lady and they’ll tilt her hips in a way that means you get to hit a whole other host of different angles.”
He nodded, gesturing to the previously frowned upon items. “Alright, they can stay.” She grinned, tossing her braids over her shoulder as they continued, smug that she knew exactly what to say in order to get around his protests. He was, as she expected, still difficult, though.
“Sharise! Put it back,” he ordered, pointing as she wrestled with a giant, white sheepskin rug from the rolls gathered at the back of the store.
“You’re going for bare floorboards, right?”
He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I am.”
“Then you need a nice rug to tie the room together!”
Depth of comfort and tying the room together. Her chosen language was completely lost on him. “But then I gotta vacuum the damned thing!” His complaint was accompanied by a little show of drama, folding his arms over the cart handle, resting his head down and regretting his decision to involve his sister-in-law.
“No, because the fleece is too long, it’ll get caught in the rollers. You just go shake it outside, et voila! Done.” Into the cart it went, Angel muttering in mild despair. Fluffy rugs. Was this what his life had become?
The rest of the store was browsed rapidly, Angel actually being able to make his own choices, loading up on photo frames he planned to put some of Keri’s photographs into after he’d had them blown up, a set of white plaster skulls that looked remarkably like the real thing, Sharise adding bits and pieces as she went for both him and herself. The large, black and grey vase with black birch twigs was not one of his choices, but he allowed it. Begrudgingly.
“So, you seem to be very content with Keri, then, with this talk of her coming to stay for a while,” Sharise observed, finishing the large mouthful of Cuban sandwich she’d just taken at a bar she’d driven them to, telling Angel she’d at least buy him lunch in apology for terrorising him in the home décor stakes.
He smiled, thinking of her. “I really am, she’s cool. Can’t wait to have her come kinda live with me, even though I think it’ll only be temporary.”
She noticed he sounded a little dejected by that. “Because of her travelling? You two are so sillily in love with one another, I can see her making Santo Padre her base when she isn’t, you know. I know it’s still early days, but you two fit together so well.”
He scratched the back of his neck, his brow furrowing. “I sometimes wonder if I’m the one who’ll be temporary. She’s so ambitious, and young still, too. Makes me wonder if we’ll last.”
“Well, just see how it goes, but don’t write off a future with her just because she has ambitions!” she gently suggested, reaching to squeeze his hand. “She doesn’t have to be around you all the time to be in a committed relationship with you.”
He snorted softly, looking uncomfortable, clamming up as she predicted he would. She would press, though. She’d heard of this before. “I did wonder, when you’d have your wobble.” His frown prompted her to continue. “Lucy told me, that back when you guys got together, you had a little bit of a freak out over whether she’d meet anyone else, and I suppose that’s rearing its ugly head again, with talk of Keri going off travelling around. You think she’s going to meet someone you assume to be better, don’t you?”
He grunted.
“Angel,” she spoke softly, reaching to stroke his face, tilting his head up. “You need to start putting to bed these feelings that you aren’t good enough. You are. Did Lucy find anyone else? Nope. So, there’s no saying Keri is going to. She’s crazy about you, for heaven’s sake! And I know what you’re gonna say, that other women in the past have only seen you as a short-term fling, but my love, that’s because it’s all you’ve offered to them, whether consciously or not.”
“Yeah, yeah I guess you’re right," he finally admitted, realising that it was his self-sabotage coming back to haunt him. As soon as he fell in love, it was only a matter of time before it came bubbling up to the surface, his fears of loss, of not being good enough.
He’d been pushing it down into his darkest depths for the last two weeks, ever since they’d confessed their love. It had been festering a little closer to the surface since her talk of travelling over breakfast the last time he’d seen her, though. The little pit in his stomach he’d felt? It had predictably taken root, no matter how much he didn’t want it to.
Looking over at Sharise, he felt his little padlocked gate begin to strain. If there was one woman he always opened up to, it was her. “I don’t want to wreck it all, but I’m kinda scared I will. I can’t just be happy. My fucking brain has to freak out and cause drama. Which I usually then fuckin’ thrive on.”
It suddenly clicked with Sharise, the sprucing up of his home. He wanted to hopefully make Keri feel as if it was hers, too. He wanted to find more ways to entice her return, hence doing away with the bachelor pad look, albeit with slight reluctance. Oh, he was too adorable, in such a beautifully, partially broken way. From what Keri had told her in exchanges messages, chatting online in order to get to know each other more, he had no reason to feel insecure. Of course, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t. People were rarely so simple.
“Angel, the only way you’re going to wreck it is by listening to that toxic little voice in the back of your head instead of Keri. Have faith. She came into your life for a reason. There’s no way that dreaming of her before you even met her is anything less than destiny. Believe in it. You were doing great until you let the panic creep in.” Taking another bite of her sandwich, she winked, Angel determined to take her advice on board.
It didn’t help that he was only a week into a three-week separation from her, but he did work hard to keep Sharise’s advice in mind. As if the universe had heard his doubts, he received a notification one night, painting well into the small hours after returning from dealing with club affairs, wiping his hand on a spare piece of cloth as he crawled over the painting sheets to grab his phone. Keri had tagged him in an Instagram post.
‘I don’t even know how one man can be so amazing. He’s the sexiest, the funniest, the loveliest, the best. I miss you, gorgeous. Can’t wait until this is us again.’
He smiled at viewing the image, one Keri had taken in the hotel room on the bed as she’d sat astride him, her hand reached out cupping his cheek, Angel smiling up at her as the sun shone in through the window and bathed him in bright light. He remembered just how happy he’d felt, when she’d taken it, his heart fluttering at the memory, scrolling to his call list and tapping her name.
“Hey, you free to talk?”
“I am, I have a few spare minutes,” she replied, waiting for her coffee to pour, prepared to work right on through until the morning and then sleep for a few hours before she started again. “How are you? I hate that tomorrow is Saturday and I won’t have you here. Sucks.”
He was surprised to hear she was still up doing her work, since she’d mentioned earlier when they’d messaged that she’d be spending the entire day doing such. “You got some serious dedication there, for it to be 1am and you’re still working. As for me, yeah, I’m alright. Missing you like fuck, though.”
She made a soft noise in her throat, picking up her large mug of coffee (a two-pod creation) and turning the machine off. “I miss you too! Two weeks and I’ll be free, though, get to come and spend ten days with you before Galway. Did you ask Bish, if you can swing that kind of time away?”
“I did,” he sighed, “and I can’t. I could come for a week, but he can’t lose me for two.”
She was bright in her reply, all optimism. “Well, that’s better than nothing! Come out with us for the week, then head home. How about that? I’d rather at least have you there for a short time rather than not at all. These places I want to travel to, having you there by my side would mean so much. I know it’s corny, but the whole making memories thing is important, you know?”
Her words made him smile, the more rational side of him seeing clearly how stupid his self-doubt was. He knew he wouldn’t likely overcome it immediately, but what she told him had helped. “Yeah, querida, I know. I love you.”
“And I love you too. Listen, I have to hit the laptop again, but I’ll call you tomorrow, after I’ve had some sleep. Night, gorgeous.”
“Night baby.” Ending the call, he looked around at the half-painted walls. They weren’t the only work in progress.

urban doing an instagram live and everyone asks to see his girlfriend
Talk Of The Town
Tumblr media
Urban wasn’t the famous one but to a lot of the fans in the fandom he was and they were just as obsessed with Jack’s life as they were with Urban’s life.
Jack was out doing soundcheck all day leaving only Urban and You back at the hotel. Urban was bored and decided to go live on Instagram to talk to a few fans here and there and answer any questions they had.
“What’s going on guys, how are you guys doing?” Urban smiled and shook his head at some of the comments some people asking if he’d marry them or kiss them some even asked if he’d sell his left kidney to them.
“I’m sorry guys I can’t marry you or go on a date with you and I’m sure I need my left kidney but I got a girl so I don’t think she’d be so thrilled with me going on a date with anybody but her.” His eyes lit up with mischief watching how all his fans started blowing up the live asking who this mystery girl was that took him away and saying how lucky she is to have him.
“Oh she’s very lucky too have me but most of the time she doesn’t think so.” Urban sighed dramatically making you shake your head from the other room, you were mid makeup tutorial when you got the notification that Urban went live.
Urban and You met back in California when Jack was filming for White Men Can’t Jump you were actually at the park with your friends in your mini summer dress your friend gifted you awhile back, you guys always had picnics during the summer and it was a beautiful and breezy day in California that day.
You remember laying on-top of the picnic blanket some Sza playing in the background the sun shining on you and your friend when suddenly something or more like someone blocked the sun.
“Uh I’m sorry to interrupt you guys but this is actually a closed set and I was told to tell you guys to leave..” You furrowed your brows in confusion, a Kentucky accent? In California you must be day dreaming.
“A closed set? Nobody told us it was a closed set and besides we just got here we aren’t leaving.” Kiya your friend barked back at the man with long hair but his friend who had braids wasn’t having it.
“Look it’s only gonna be for a few minutes till they get this shot and then you guys can have your spots back but until then we need this area.” You we’re watching Kiya and the guy whose name you found out was 2fo argue back and forth over leaving and not leaving when you felt eyes on you, looking up you saw his friend the one with the long dirty blonde hair looking at you he blushed when he noticed you caught him looking.
“What’s your name?”
“I’m Urban. What’s your name.”
“My name is Y/N I’m sorry about my friend we’ll just pack our stuff and go.” You went to back up everything but Urban stuck his hand out stopping you.
“Honestly it’s okay you guys can stay I think that spot over there would be better to shot at anyways.” 2fo gave Urban a confused look but Urban looked at you with his eyes and 2fo immediately understood.
“Oh yeah yeah we’ll just tell them the spot over there is way better sorry ladies.” Lilly rolled her eyes as 2fo winked at her and went to walk away Urban smiled one last time and went to leave as well but you stopped him.
“Oh uh Urban if you don’t mind can I get your number?” You asked bashfully he smirked and took your phone putting his number in and hanging it back.
“Call or text me whenever shawty.” You remember later that night you ended up texting Urban the both of you stayed up till 3 in the morning talking about anything and everything.
“Can we see your girlfriend?” One of the questions on the live read making Urban shrug his shoulders and call out for you.
“Babe come on here the fans wanna see you.” You’ve been keeping your relationship with Urban quiet not for his sake but for your sake the last thing you wanted was a bunch of his fans messaging you and sending you rude and nasty things.
Placing down your makeup brushed you walked into the living room area where Urban had his phone propped up against some books that were meant for decor he grinned seeing you enter the room.
“You look beautiful ma.” He stepped out the frame as you got closer you sat on his lap his arms wrapping around you tightly.
What Urban didn’t see was that everyone was going crazy at the nickname he had given you.
“The fans wanna see this so called mystery girl that took me away, but only if you’re ready to show yourself.” Honestly you always felt bad for hiding your relationship with Urban mainly because you knew he loved pda and because he just wanted to show you off already.
“I’m ready Urb.” He was surprised by your answer because he knew how private you were but he smiled before reaching for the phone.
“Alright guys you’re about to see the most beautiful girl in the world my baby.” You smiled before coming into the frame yours and Urban’s face now on the screen. He smiled reading some of the comments.
“She’s so lucky.. she’s so pretty.. I hope she dumps Urban and gets with me alright now guys let’s not do too much.” He smacked his lips making you laugh as you rested your face in his chest, his heartbeat sounding like music to your ears. You closed your eyes and steadied your breathing and soon enough you were out like light.
Urban was reading a few more comments not noticing you fell asleep till one of the fans brought it up he looked down and smiled at you.
“Looks like someone fell asleep well that’s enough for tonight guys I’ll talk to you more later.” Urban ended the live before tossing his phone somewhere on the couch and looking down at you.
“Loving you really feels like a dream I still can’t believe you’re mine.” He mumbled and kissed the top of your head, he reached for the throw blanket that laid across the couch before wrapping your legs around his waist and wrapping the two of you up in the blanket.
Urban laid on the couch with you on his chest and rubbing small circles on your back before he soon enough fell asleep himself. Him and his perfect girl together forever.

Y/n
“Hey! Have you guys seen Mark recently? He was supposed to meet me at this Italian restaurant for our 6 months, but he never showed up.” I ask my boyfriend’s roommates. They all look at me puzzled. “I haven’t seen him since he left for class this morning. It’s weird that he didn’t show. Definitely not like him.” Ethan responds. Well I guess they aren’t going to be much help. “Oh ok. Well, I’m probably going to just go home then. If you see him, tell him to call me please. I'm worried.” “Hey y/n I’m sure he’s fine. Don’t worry.” Luke says. They all say their goodbyes, and I leave.
Mark has never done this. It was definitely not something he would do. I mean we have been talking about it for weeks. The worst part is I got all dressed up, to just sit and eat alone. I sit by my phone hoping that he will call. I mean I have been calling him for hours, but I’m met with no response. But for some reason, I can't help but assume the worst. Maybe he’ll call me back.
Mark
A few hours earlier
I hate sitting in this business lecture. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike the subject, but it’s the instructor I can’t stand. He’s always yapping about something other than the actual lesson. And because of that I have a 74 as my grade. I need to get it up to at least a B, or my parents will have my neck. Even when I’m 21, they still cares about my grades. That’s the life of someone who has teachers as parents. Right now I’m zoned out thinking about the upcoming game this weekend. We play Ohio State, and it’s going to be rough.
I’m brought back to reality, when Mr. Davis announces we are doing a partnership project. Damn it. The one class I have nobody I enjoy talking to, we get a project with a partner. All of a sudden a beautiful blonde girl walks up to me and asks,” Hey Marky! Do you want to work with me? I heard you are super smart, and I might need some help?” It’s Tori. I’ve heard of her from y/n. She seems okay, she's gorgeous that’s for sure. “What class are you?” I ask. “Oh Mark, I'm a sophomore, you silly!” What the hell. How does she even know I’m a sophomore? I’m pretty sure I’m making a face, when she says,” Oh don’t worry. I’m not a stalker or anything, I just watch you on the hockey team a lot. You are really good by the way! You're super hot too, so that gives me another reason to watch” She says the last part while twirling her hair. “Uh thanks.” I responded. “Well, do you want to go work on it at my dorm? My roommate should be gone anyways.” She asked. “Uh okay. I’ll meet you there, just write down your address.” I say back. This all reminds me of y/n. I haven’t heard from her today. I wonder why? Eh it’s probably nothing big.
I get to her dorm at around 5. I stopped by the rink to talk to the coach real quick. He had talked about my penalties. Always the penalties. Tori had said she stopped to get coffee, and she picked me up a coffee with 3 sugars and 2 creams. I have no clue how she knew that, but I’m not going to waste my time and find out. She asked me to sit on her bed with her and I complied. Her dorm is pretty small with just a bed and a desk on her side. My 6 '2 self doesn’t fit in those tiny desks so, the bed it is. I can’t help but to wonder about y/n again. She still hasn’t texted, so maybe she’s busy. I look at my phone to check when I get the 5% battery notification. Dammit I should have brought a charger. I turn down the brightness and put my phone on low power mode. Hopefully that will help.
After about 20 minutes of her talking my head off, we finally started. She also can’t stay still. She keeps moving from the desk to right next to me. She’s been sitting next to me on the bed for almost 15 minutes so maybe she made up her mind. We are both slightly laying while also sitting up propped up by the head board. She gets her laptop so we can start the project. We have to make a slideshow on how partnership can positively and negatively affect a business. We have to provide a famous example for each. I’m probably going to end up doing it all judge on how Tori can’t stop talking about random things. “Did you know you have pretty eyes?” What the fuck? Random. “Uh no.” I say. She bats her eyelashes at me and says,” Well you do, pretty boy.” I ignore her and continue on the project. I go to look at my phone and it turns out I died. You’ve got to be kidding. “Marky!! Her look!” She quickly pulls out her phone to snaps a picture.” I try to see what it looks like but I can’t fully see it. Eh, who cares. I go back to working on the project for the next hour.
Y/n
I’ve been trying to distract myself. I’ve tried watching movies, cleaning my apartment, and now listening to music in my bed. He still hasn’t called or even gone home. It’s currently 9:24 and he’s yet to be seen by anyone. I’m borderline paranoid. I can’t help but feel like something happened to him. I grab my phone to check again when I’m met with a text from Dylan.
Duker: hey y/n. Um I don’t know how to tell you this but I know that I should. This is what some girl posted on her snap story an hour ago. All the boys have tried to get in touch with him and they haven’t gotten any responses. We are sorry. If you want to come over we will all be here for you.
He sent an image of Mark next to this blonde in a bed. It’s fucking Tori! The one who will flirt with him right in front of me and doesn’t even care that I'm there. They are sitting awfully close too. She’s practically laying on him. My stomach drops. He has his hand on her thigh. She even captioned it “study dates with this hottie”. We’re they on a date?!? He skipped out on our 6 month anniversary dinner to go hang out with some girl in her dorm?!?! I feel betrayed. I’m trying my hardest to choke back sobs but it’s no use. I’m bawling. I thought I had it. He treated me so well too. He had me fooled. I’m stupid for believing that this wouldn’t happen. I should have known. I quickly grab my keys and head to the boys house. Who cares, it doesn’t look like he’ll be coming home anytime soon anyways. I get in my car and go.
Mark
I finally left 20 minutes ago. I’m rushing home so I can get to bed at a decent hour, when my phone finally turns back on after being in the charger. I look at it and see 45 missed calls and 67 texts. What the hell?!? I went back to call the last person who called me and it was Mackie. The call connects when he says,” Man. You need to get your ass home now. You’ve got a shit ton of explaining to do. She’s pissed at you, Mark. And honestly we all agree with her.” Then he hangs up without letting me get a word in. Who’s pissed? Is it y/n? What did I do?
I rush into the apartment when I’m met with Mackie, Ethan, and Nolan?!? Why’s he here? “Dude what the hell?!?” Nolan shouts. “She waited on you for 2 hours and you never showed. Instead you were on a date with some fucking puck bunny.”, “I’m your best friend, but you really fucked up Mark.” E says. “What did I do?” I question. “What do you mean? Look at this!” Dylan shows me a photo of me and Tori. She’s sitting next to me with my hand on her thigh. Wait? She had my hand on her thigh?!? “Not only this, but you fucking skipped your 6 month anniversary dinner to hang out with whoever this is! I mean Mark what the fuck?!?” Moyal says. “Where’s y/n? I need to talk to her.” I ask. “She's In my room asleep.” Luke comes around the corner to say. “She’s not taking this well, Mark. You fucked up bad.” All of a sudden I hear a door screech. “Hey. It’s alright guys. Can I just talk to him alone.” Y/n says with tear stained cheeks. The guys leave and I take her to my room. “Y/n-“ I start but then she says,” Lisen Mark. I want to hear your side of the story, I really do, but I feel like I’m going to get a shit ton of bullshit answers. You fucking forgot our anniversary. Then I find out you were with a girl, who by the way flirts with you every single time she sees you, and then I see that you're at her DORM with your hand on her thigh, and you're basically letting her lay on you! How would you feel if that were me huh?” She says. “ Not good…” I say shamefully. “I'm sorry. I forgot. As for Tori. She’s my partner for a project. She invited me to do it at her dorm and I said yes. I didn’t think she was going to take a picture. I swear we didn’t do anything. I promise.” I say back. “ It sure as hell doesn’t look like it. Mark… this is a lot. You knew I didn’t like her, yet you still basically blew off our date for her-r. Is it because she’s prettier? I knew it! I thought you’d be loyal, but I was too naïve to see it.” She says in tears. “No it’s not, it’s just-“ she cuts me off to say. “Don’t make excuses! Mark I love you but I don’t think I can do this right now. I actually know I can’t. I'm sorry but I’m leaving. Can I have my things?” She says softly. I hand her, her phone, and car keys as she turns to leave. “Bye Mark.” She says as she walks out.
I can’t move. She just left. Walked straight out the door. I don’t know what I’m going to do? What should I do? How does someone come back from this? What do I do?
Keep sending in requests!!!!

There's a lot I wanna say about uni and how I feel about the whole shit, but imma start by one thing for now
"Friends"
I'm gonna take it from the begging
The first 2 days I was hanging out with a group of girls that were... too straight-girly for my liking and toxic
And when I say straight girly I don't mean "I like pink" or shit focus on the TOXIC part
Examples:
*girl leaves*
Toxic *literally 2 seconds later* she's a weirdo isn't she? You agree with me don't you?
*next day* Let's keep her around she's fun. The *[name_of_her_hometown]* gurl. Omg
(She literally called her the "Το [μερος] γκερλ" [μέρος] as in where that girl was from)
Example 2
"I can't have guys friends, they ALWAYS end up hitting on me and ruining the friendship, I only want gay queens for bffs"
Those 2 examples are actually of the same toxic girl
Oh also she's independent since 14 and has been smoking since then #cool #not like the others girls or something
Now, to be honest that group had a bunch of people, mostly girls, she was the most annoying,
I ended up keeping in touch with one girl from that group who we're gonna call Keila (used random name generator) who was actually cool
Before uni started we also met Floretta who I really liked cause she watches the same shows like me, like anime or good omens etc that kind of stuff, oh and also books like 6 of crows, she also knew what all for the game was and wanted to read it
In class we met Jessi... and I'm not sure how to describe her
And Beatrix who I don't remember when she appeared but she seemed nice and have become real close with Floretta
I am giving a description of these girls, cause supposedly that was the group of friends I made
Now, an ironic thing, one of the first days I was out with Floretta, Jessi and Beatrix (I think Keila was out of town or something) one of them asked if we knew that trend "where people bring food of different colors to a house gathering"
And I replied that "Oh my friends actually did that last year but I wasn't invited"
Jessi said "I would have not let that slide! The audacity" and stuff, in which I kind of tried to justify my school friends, bc if we're being honest I was mostly hanging out with other people at the time, and I was not this close with the girl that the party was at her house
And they said stuff like "We'll involve you now, in the stuff we'll do and all"
Guess what they did
Guess who was the only person they did not invite in shit they did
Well, we did do stuff at first, we had a sleepover at someone's house, we went to the cinema together... that I think
We sat together in class and all, and I could see that some of them were closer with each other than I was but I still thought we were a friend group
We didn't really hang out much lately, and too be honest the last... 8? Weeks I hadn't left the house on the weekends, daily I would go to uni for class and the canteen to eat with them but on the weekends I would stay inside the house for the whole 2 days... which was probably kind of lonely
Oh btw, there was a group chat, but nobody sent anything, they stopped texting right after a few days, and too be honest there were 2 other girls in the gc who found other friends and we stopped talking so I kinda expected someone would make a gc of the supposedly friend group we had
Anyways the other week, one of our classes got canceled, I stayed in and the next day Keila was describing to a girl from class what happened last night at Floretta's home on a sleepover and how Jessi got drunk and Beatrix slept etc
So I'm realizing they all had a sleepover and didn't tell me, but I'm not the kind of person that would make a big deal out of it even if I felt bad or something. I guess it was a last minute thing cause class was canceled (?) And didn't tell me cause I live in a different town 5 minutes away
Later that day Keila was telling Beatrix something like "I sent her(Jessi) *something something* on the group chat"
So I realize there's a group chat I'm not a part of
btw that was on a Friday, oh also that day, I asked Keila which bus I should take if I wanted to go to jumbo
Later on Monday, I had a morning class which I only share with Jessi, we didn't really talk. And I took the bus to go to town and 2 hours later I saw all of them across the street
Turns out they were waiting for the same bus I was waiting to go to jumbo, (I was on the wrong side of the street) but I ended up talking with Floretta outside the bus while she was looking for her ticket like "hello" "Oh hi... what are you doing here?" "I'm going to jumbo" "oh cool us too"
And since we had the same destination we ended up going together, since we're also friends
And honestly I'm a little mad cause like Keila knew I wanted to go to jumbo, and Jessi saw me that morning, but no one told me hey why don't we all go together, but the 4 of them went
And I did feel like an outsider and had my own basket while they had their own, I didn't feel like putting anything I wanted into their shared basket since I wasn't in the plan
Does this even make sense its 3am
Anyways Floretta was also buying candles and balloons and decorations, and when we were in the elevator she told me "Oh by the way I may do something for my birthday on Sunday if you want to come" Μπορεί, Κυριακή, αν θέλεις, are not enough information to invite someone in your birthday
Especially when you pick out the decoration like "but girls, I don't want to celebrate it" and then go "μπορεί" may means you're still thinking about whether or not you do something about your birthday, also I don't know when and where, do I just show up at her house at 7am on Sunday? No?
I've gone uninvited to 2 birthday parties as a kid I'm not doing it again if you want to invite me do it properly
She obviously told me cause I was with her when she was buying everything, but wouldn't she end up informing her guests about the time and all when she decides what she does? She didn't text me anything or told me anything about it the rest of the week
So on the weekend, I saw two birthday stories, one from Keila on Saturday and one from Floretta on Sunday, I already explained Floretta
Keila, tried explaining herself to me when I saw her on Monday
Which personally... I find ... stupid?
That's what she told me: "I want you to know the reason I didn't invite you was because I wanted to do something small with only the people from [town] cause they live close, and I didn't want anyone to sleep over, cause my dad died, and my dad died I can't be doing parties. Shame" all in one breath. 9am I didn't not have the energy.
And GIRL. Seriously when you try to excuse it like that it sounds stupid. 1) I live literally 5 minutes away with the bus, the taxi costs 4€(considering in my island it costs 27€ I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT SPENDING 4€ ON A TAXI) 2)If she told me "come to my birthday" I would not have brought my pajamas with me, I would have left with a taxi, I do not know why she assumed I would sleep there without her wanting me to sleep there
3)... I know what grieving is. I assumed she didn't invite me bc she wanted to do something small due to her father dying.
(Considering I am the only one she didn't invite, I don't know what huge difference I make but anyways)
Also. I don't know how to explain it but I feel it ridiculous that she tried to explain this to me. I stopped inviting people at my house after my uncle died.
And don't tell me anything like "but that's her father it's just your uncle" or some shit because of what I know it seems I had a much better relationship with my uncle than she did with her father
I know no matter what of person he used to be, she still lost him and will grieve him, but ... explaining those reasons to me?
I used to have a group of 11 people coming to my house almost biweekly and then I just stopped. It took me a long while to actually invite people over again cause I have forgotten how to do so, and the people that came were 2 really close friends. Only after a year did I ended up inviting over my bsf and 2 classmates(3 whole people) for board games
I know what grieving is.
And I know people can grieve in different ways
...but when you word it like that it just sounds like an excuse....
I assumed she didn't invite me bc of it but the whole paragraph? "Only from the town, no sleepover, dead father"
Honestly I had similar experiences when I was 12 and I have hated those kind of excuses since then. You did not invite me. For whatever reason. Okay. Making an excuse is worse. I don't care
And like as I said, I had assumed the grieving part was why and I was not planning to fight her about it. Her paragraph just makes me mad
I'm tired it's 3.30 am
I have a few more things I'll say tomorrow

I get bullied in school a lot and my teacher has been acting totally indifferent towards my problem, when I was trying to reach out for help 😮‍💨
I just wish there were people that were more compassionate. Could you imagine older Terry as a PE teacher? Being more understanding and approaching the bully or giving me a pep talk to build up my self esteem?
🥲
Oh anon I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't know why people feel the urge to turn others down. And what shocks me the most is that your teacher doesn't take this seriously, bullying can destroy people. I desperately hope that you have at least a few people you can count on when you need them. I'm more than happy to write a PE Terry for you. I'm sending hugs and much love to you anon 🖤 Stay strong 💪
AU PE teacher Terry Silver (CK)
I was shaking while walking to the gym. It was Monday and that meant PE was on the schedule and I hated it. The only thing that was good was our teacher Mr Silver, he was always kind and nice and always listening to the problems of his students. I took my time cause I hoped that Trina and her girl gang got already changed. I don't know why they didn't like me or why they always made fun of me bullying me day after day. I tried to reach out for help from our principal but he didn't take me seriously, nobody did. When I arrived in the locker room I looked around, none of them was seen. I decided to go to the toilet before changing and as soon as I stepped inside, the door slammed shut and locked. I heard laughing from the other side of the door. "Trina please open the door." I said trying to keep my voice steady. "Trina please open the door." she mocked. I felt tears welling in my eyes, that wasn't fair. Suddenly Mr Silvers voice was heard "Ladies what takes you so long, I want to start. Wait where's Y/N?" again laughter. "Oh they have some serious business in the restrooms." "Okay you three get out of here I'll join you in a minute." I heard the door close and then a soft knock on the bathroom door. "Y/N, it's me I'll open the door now okay?" "Okay." the key turned in the lock and the door opened. "Hey Y/N are you alright? Are you hurt?" I shook my head. "No it's just... they're just being mean again and I don't know how long I can take it anymore . I never did something to them. I'm just myself. Well yes I dress different, I like different things but that doesn't make me a bad person." "How long do they do that to you?" he asked with a worried look on his face. "For months. I tried to tell the principal but he didn't take me seriously." "You know, when I was younger I was like you. I got picked on because of my ponytail or the things I was into and it really turned me down. Then I discovered karate and got my self esteem back. I finally had the mindset to ignore all those idiots. You're a good student and a very nice person. How about that we go outside and try to have fun and later I'll accompany you to the principals office okay? I'm by your side the whole time and maybe we find something that helps you to get your self esteem back. " I gave him a small smile. As soon as we got into the gym Trina started mocking me again" Ooohh do you smell that? It seems our lovely Y/N here made a big number two in the bathroom."" Enough!!! Trina you and your little friends will visit the principals office after class. Please have a little warm up we're playing dodgeball today except for you three you will run a few rounds around the building. " " What? How many? " Trina asked" Till I say it's enough so hop hop. " she stomped angrily" That's not fair, just because we had a little fun? I will talk with my father about this. " she said " Oh that's great I wanted to call him anyway. And also if the other person isn't in on the joke it isn't a joke. You talk about fairness? Is it fair to constantly hurt and bully someone just because they're different? We will have a serious talk about this, with your parents and the principal, now go I gave you an exercise " with a loud groan the three girls made their way outside. " Alright, we need two team captains, how about Y/N and yeah Sara choose your team members. " Mr Silver said and after a long time I actually had fun in PE class.

Modern High school AU total drama
So as a modern high schooler myself, I decided to try and ‘categorise’ the total drama gen 1 into high school ppl ig. Idk. Except teenager behaviour and jokes.
Heather: Never in any class, and if she is; that’s not her class. Practically runs around the halls with a Louis víton (I can’t spell) bag (Y’know the brown and yellow ugly ones with LV) And probably doesn’t wear too much makeup, but it definitely creases and keeps insisting that she’s clean and has no makeup. Kinda mf to act gay ass hell with her friends, like sit on their lap and make weird as jokes and then be blatantly homophobic. The cheerleading teams capitán and basically just bosses everyone around. She’s also flyer.
Courtnry: Oh my gosh. I have a Courtney in my class. I’ll us fucking tell y’all about her. She doesn’t hesitate to scream when she doesn’t get what she wants, and has even taken over for a substitute teacher cause they ‘weren’t good enough at their job’. She never wears her hair down and always has some braid or something. Uses glasses but refuses to admit it. Has ONE subject she fails so bad. For my class it’s science but Courtney definitely fails smith like French or geography. Bridgette tired to help her but sometimes Courtney is too stubborn and spiteful to accept help (real)
Lindsay: Sweetest girl ever. She’s a girls girl. People are well aware of how dumb she can be, so some either help her steer away from bad people, or are the bad people. She always has lipgloss on her and lash serum infused mascara. She ACTUALLY has good makeup and skin. She gets pimples and breaks outs occasionally but doesn’t think too much of it. Also cheerleader. She’s either side or flyer depending on what preformwncr.
Gwen: maxi skirts. Oh my god EVERYONE calls her emo. I mean who can blame them. (I just remembered I’m taking a 2 hour train tomorrow and I’m very excited) Also gwen constantly draws on her hand and is always down for helping someone do their eyeliner. She’s good friends with Geoff, and someone’s gets jokingly shipped with him by people that doesn’t know them that well. Bridgette understands how the other student are and trusts both gwen and Geoff enough to know that Geoff isn’t cheating. Also she just likes to see them get along. She has aSHIT ton of mesh black tops. I know it she told me.
Bridgette: ALSO CHERR GIRL. She’s back due to her streanghta annd liability. and Bridgette doesn’t have too good access to water around her school, so she only gets to do it during weekends to holidays. Also I’m only doing girls on this list (for now) so I need to include a little Geoff. Geoff gets high and has somehow gotten Bridgette involved in it. (I said expect teenager things so you get teenage things). He has drugs on the parties he throws but Bridgette is way more responsible than him. Also she has her hair down a lot, but is the victim of her hair being braided evertime she sits close to one of her friends for more than 2 seconds.
Leshawna: Everyone knows her. She gets involved in every kinds drama that happens at the school. Also she comforts those girls crying in thr bathroom stalls. Although she’s mean at times, she onto does it to people who deserve it. And he’d standard setting is to be nice to people. (Like she was to Eva in island.) Has goddes braids. She told me it’s true. Idk I’ve always had a vision that she’d love those. Also she’s a good braider. Like crazy good.
Izzy (she’s my fav be prepared): She has a small friend group around her and rarely interacts with anyone outside of that. It’s not like she’s one anti social girl. She just quickly grasped the knowledge that people thought she was weird, and just distanced herself (real). Her friend group is mainly Noah, lindsay, tyler, duncan, cody and sometimes courtney (we love the breakfast club here) ALSO SCARLET SND ISZY ARE SISTERS AND NOBODY CSN TELL ME OTHERWISE. anyways. Most people either see her as really loud or has no idea what shes like cause she’s constantly sprinting though the halls. She has a counsellor and everyone knows, but she refuses to show up to any session and/or meeting cause she has watched too many phsycological horror movies and is afraid of being put in some mental hospital (real pt.2) Also she’s the kinds mf to laugh and then js 😶. Like completely silent dead for thr next hour. And nobody knows why.
here’s pt2 but it’s js Heather and Izzy I’m tired

[ Just some small practice writing snippit I wrote with adult Bart/Preston ]
It’s always the little things in life that remind you of what you miss the most. For Bart, it was the sunrise.
It’s trivial, something that happens every day, but no matter how early he has to be up, he’s always right there watching the sun come up over the horizon. Sometimes from different places around the world for a new angle or view.
No one really notices, or if they did no one asked why. Bart does a lot of strange things that are inexplainable, people stopped questioning him a long time ago. But staring at the sun coming up? That was special, something only for himself.
That’s how it started anyways. Later on he did more and more things for the same reasons, but again, nobody asked. Well, not until now.
“Where did you go this morning?” Preston asks into his next bite of eggs over the breakfast table. Bart was distracted pouring himself a glass of orange juice that it caught him by surprise.
“What?” He didn’t need to hear it again, he knew what Preston was asking, but it was jarring having someone call him out on it. He’d been doing this same routine since he was 15, and only now was it actually spoken aloud.
“It’s just, you got up super early and left for half and hour.” Preston ducks his head, embarrassment seeping into his voice as he adds. “Not that I was keeping track of you like a weirdo, I just woke up when you went out.”
“Oh.” Bart mutters with baited breath. They sit in more awkward silence before he actually caught up to his thoughts. He’d never actually sat down and explained this, but if he was going to trust anyone with this, it was Preston.
“I was watching the sunrise.” Bart smiles a bit and picks up his glass, sipping slowly at it.
“You got up that early just to watch the sunrise?” Preston gapes at him like he couldn’t comprehend what he was hearing. “Is that some kind of daily ritual from the future I’m not getting?”
Bart chuckles and sits down in the chair opposite of the blond, tangling their legs under the table out of habit. “Sort of? I’ve always done this. Growing up in Virtual Reality, I never had real people or experienced real things, like feel the breeze or smell the fresh air. I didn’t even know that I was missing those things until Grandma rescued me.”
“For a while I had the mindset of being in virtual reality. I didn’t find things dangerous cause there was always a reset button before. I took things for granted.” He chews on his lip with a furrow slowly creasing his brows. Preston reaches across and twines their fingers, squeezing his hand comfortingly with a reassuring smile.
Bart answers back with his own smaller grin, falling a little bit more for this blond idiot. “I never knew my parents, not until mom came and brought me to the future with her for that short time.”
“I remember that.” Preston recalls quietly. “You two were practically twins, I was so shocked when I met her.”
“You were also starstruck.” Bart chuckles, stroking small circles into Preston’s hand with his thumb.
“Only because I was a closet case with the biggest crush on you. I was presented with a girl version of my best friend who I was in love with, my head made weird connections.” Preston grumbles, kicking Bart’s shin under the table.
“Right.” Bart smiles fondly, nudging his foot back. “Anyways, even if I couldn’t be with her long, and I likely won’t be able to see her again, she’s.. She used to call me sunshine. Watching the sunrise is like my way of holding on to her memory.”
Thing go quiet again, companionable silence instead of the awkward interval. Preston had that calculating look in his eyes and Bart watches him think, committing every detail of his face to memory like he could lose that too.
Preston lost his mother when they were kids too, in a way, if you could consider her a mom. It wasn’t the same situation but Bart could tell that he understood. Maybe that was the reason he felt so comfortable telling this to Preston, he got it. He met Meloni, and not many people had got that chance before she had to go back to their time and ward off the evils of that world.
“Can I go with you tomorrow?” Preston finally asks, and the surprise almost threw Bart back.
“You want to watch with me?” No one’s ever done that, how would that even go? Would it be the same? Would that give it a different meaning? So many unknowns and yet all Bart could do was nod with a shy smile.
The next morning they both got up and left in total silence, still in their pyjamas. Bart carried Preston out to the cliffs, his favorite spot for watching, and they sat in the dew covered grass waiting for the sun.
“You know, I bet she looks at the sun too and thinks of you.” Preston says randomly after some time. Bart stares at him with absolute wonderment, his vision going blurry as they watered.
“Yeah.” Bart smiles, wiping at his eyes and turning his head to catch the first rays of light peeking through. He was right, watching it with someone did give it different meaning.

Every time I read a book by Fredrik Backman, I'm left speechless. !!!LONG RANT BELOW!!! + my reviews of the books I've read by him
It all started one year when the book "A Man Called Ove" was chosen to be read in my bookclub. The teacher was talking about how he has a different style of writing and I'm like oh alright bet let's try it out.
GOD. That book was a solid 10/10. It touched dark topics like death and suicide while also having a good humor. The chapter with the cat being almost frozen to death had me giggling a little too much 😂 I loved seeing it on screen when the movie came out.
So many good quotes were in this book. Especially between Sonja and Ove. “You only need one ray of light to chase all the shadows away,”  “But if anyone had asked, he would have told them that he never lived before he met her. And not after either.”  “Of all the imaginable things he most misses about her, the thing he really wishes he could do again is hold her hand in his.”
This book was just so amazing. I have nothing bad to say against it and strongly recommend it to be the first book one should read by Fredrik. It shows the dark themes he touches while having humor, how good the flashbacks are shown. How they leave you with more questions until you're gut-punched.
Alright. Second book I've read was Beartown. I got it as a birthday gift along with Anxious People (I'll talk abt that later). I knew Beartown revolved around the topic of rape. But god, it was still a hard read. Watching a small town get torn apart over the drama, how nobody really believed Maya and she was even bullied for lying. It broke my heart, leaving me in tears.
The worst part? How real this felt. How it's probably happened to countless girls and guys before. Being raped but not believed, then being bullied and harassed.
The quotes hit hard in this too. "It's not always obvious, because the people around a bullied child assume that he or she must get used to it after awhile. Never. You never get used to it. It burns like fire the whole time. It's just that no one knows how long the fuse is, not even you." “Everyone has a thousand wishes before a tragedy, but just one afterward.”  “What you create, others can destroy. Create anyway. Because in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and anyone else anyway.”
I don't have too much to say on this book as it was an extremely hard read and took me about a month to finish. But it was still a great story. I don't know if I'll finish the other two books anytime soon. I think what makes it hard is that there's no "happy ending." The rape can't be undone. The damage can't be undone. Maya will forever be scared of the dark. How Kevin has status, keeping him safe. Yes, he is scared of the dark now, but it's not enough. Nothing will fix what happened.
And what I just finished reading today, Anxious People "It's a story about a bank robbery gone wrong? How can that make me cry?" -Me to my teacher.
God. What a book. This book made me laugh and almost brought me to tears. If I wasn't in school while reading this, I would be ugly crying.
This book perfectly embodies Fredrik's writing style. How EVERY little piece matters. Every character is important. You're reading and then hit with a plot twist. Knut being dead? Never expected. That one COMPLETELY threw me in for a loop. The way the chapter hopped back to the flashbacks and then to the interview, oh my god I loved this so much. Might be my favorite one yet.
Every character was so diverse with their own story and struggles, yet they all came together and helped each other when they needed it. I loved the fact that there wasn't a villain in this story- the bank robber wanted to harm nobody, just take care of her kids.
So many of these quotes hit home. The funny ones, the serious ones.
“Not knowing is a good place to start.” I always tell my therapist "I don't know." She said I'm the only person she allows to say that. The fact that a psychologist said that??? It just comforted me so much.
"...but inside she was standing in a forest screaming until her heart burst. The trees grew until one day the sunlight could no longer break through the foliage, and the darkness in there became impenetrable." This one also hit home for me. I'm a very angry person but try my best to control it. Multiple times a day, I imagine myself running into a forest, screaming and yelling my heart out, nobody hearing me. I felt so understood, so seen in this.
"Can you imagine what a bad parent you must have been for your children not to want to be parents?" Woah. I had to close the book and think about this. I don't have the best relationship with my parents, but they are okay parents. They might not rob a bank for me though 😂. But this quote just... I don't know. It really puts a different view on things. It almost makes me feel a bit bad. All in all, this is a quote that lives in the back of my head rent free.
Ever since the first page of this book, I knew I was in for a ride. It felt so long ago, reading chapter 2, "don't think about cookies". This book is a solid 100/10, I will never get rid of it and will reread it many times to come.
Please. If you're looking for a good book to read, please just do ANYTHING by Fredrik Backman. His writing style is unique, fun, just so different and a breath of fresh air. His books will make you cry and laugh and you'll find quotes that you carry on with you for years to come. As I write, I find myself often writing in his sort of style. He is truly an amazing writer and comes up with amazing plots. Before reading his works, only one book ever made me cry. (A Mango Shaped Space). But no movie has ever made me cry. I sobbed in the theaters watching A Man Called Otto. Can't wait to watch Anxious People on Netflix now! I've heard bad stuff, but I'll still watch it.
I hope I managed to convince someone to read a book by Fredrik Backman. Or possibly even re-read a book. I know I want to keep reading books by him. Maybe My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry?

A/N: Co-writing fanfiction with @marauder-level-chaos is here!! It's a Marauders and Shadowhunters crossover fanfic, featuring our OCs, Amethyst "Meth" Black and Aster Hightower. First chapter takes places during the second episode of the first season of Shadowhunters, hope you enjoy it and feedback is always welcome! (anyone who wants to be added to the tagslist let us know)
Chapter 1: Godammit
This was ridiculous. Actually, missions for the whole week had been ridiculous. The best and brightest shadowhunters of the New York Institute were stuck babysitting a little girl, all for Jace’s desperate need to get laid. Okay, that last bit may be a slight projection on Alec’s part. Still, ever since this Clary had entered their lives, nothing seemed to be going as it should. Even now they were at the City of Bones, waiting to get her memories back. This girl was definitely way more trouble than she was worth. She had lived her life as a mundane for 18 years and nobody but Alec seemed to think that was suspicious. Jace seemed to trust her blindly and Alec had no idea why. Even Izzy had bonded with Clary’s mundane friend. Maybe if he tried he could get used to these new additions to the institute, but frankly, he didn’t want to. He excused himself from the group under the guise of minding the perimeter for any unwanted guests. There was only one person Alec knew would agree with him about this situation. He picked up his phone and quickly dialed Amethyst, his best friend halfway across the world. It only rang twice before she picked up.
“How’s it going, hot stuff?” Her voice was heavy. Alec could tell he’d woken her up. But he also really needed to talk to her.
“Jace brought mundanes into the Institute. Well one mundane, and a long lost shadowhunter, Clary Fairchild. Her memory has been wiped.”
“Fairchild. Where have I heard that name before? I think I heard my parents talking about it. Anyway, why does she bother you so much?’
“She doesn’t bother me, Meth. I don’t even know her. I just can’t trust her.”
“Hmm, but Jace can. That’s what’s bothering you, isn’t it?”
“You know, I really thought you’d be on my side with this.”
“And I am! I’m just saying there’s more to this than you’re telling me.” Alec knew she was right. Well, partially anyway. “Oh come on, don’t fucking sulk. You’re just pissed because I called you out about Jace. You know I’m always here to talk about it.”
Alec rolled his eyes. No thank you. I don’t need your leftovers.”
“Good cause it’s not that good anyway.” Their conversation was cut off quickly when Izzy returned, slightly out of breath.
“I lost Simon.”
“Look, Izzy, the mundane isn’t really my responsibili-”
“To Camille.” Meth must have heard that because Alec heard her sigh into the phone.
“Never a dull moment with the Lightwoods.” It was as if on cue, Jace and Clary made their way out from seeing the Silent Brothers. The shocked looks on their faces indicated a strong lack of good news.
“Who’s Alec talking to?”
“Amethyst.”
“Oooo, tell her I miss her.”
“Oooo, keep it in your pants, Wayland.” Meth hissed in Alec’s ear.
“I’m pretty sure she heard you. Anyway, what did you find out?”
Jace and Clary exchanged a look that made Alec want to barf. Why couldn’t they just get to the point?
“Her father is Valentine.” Alec stood there, a blank expression on his face, fighting the urge to scream “I told you so.” Amethyst, however, had no such reservations.
“WHAT?! And she’s still alive?! This is why Alec is the only one in this group with half a brain cell.” While Alec had no doubt that Meth’s screaming had ripped his ear drum, he wasn’t disagreeing with her. Clary should not be here right now. The correct thing to do would be to turn her over to the Clave. They would know what to do. A few 20-something Shadowhunters are not equipped to handle a situation like this.
The ride home was as awkward as Alec had imagined it would be. Neither Jace nor Clary would look at him. And he couldn’t bear to look at them either. How did one little girl make their lives so complicated? Immediately, he went into the training room at the institute. It usually helped him clear his mind.
“Easy there, tiger. You don’t want to break that open.” Alec immediately knew whose voice that was. He’d recognize that insufferable British accent anywhere. Sure enough, he turned around and Amethyst was right there.
“Oh thank Raziel. These idiots are driving me insane.”
“I know. That’s why I asked Fell to portal me here. And I brought Reg. Sirius is on a mission and I’m not leaving him alone in that house. Now, let’s talk over coffee?” Alec nodded, more than willing to catch her up to speed on the shit show that had become his life. And all for a girl he didn’t even know.
***
She loved the Shadow Market! So many colors, sounds and smells for her to enjoy, always something new to discover. Free to mingle, to walk around at her heart's desire, to observe. Tonight she was even lucky, having spotted several mundies with the Sight! She could distinguish them from a mile away; there was something very characteristic in their scent, in how they looked around in confusion and wonder alike, in how they hesitated to stop at a stall and ask for, well, anything.
Funny, she chuckled to herself. Three hundred years and she was still amazed by something as trivial as the excitement of the mundanes.
She shook her head, focusing back on the stunning stand of masks in front of her. All sorts of colors here too, adorned with breathtaking gems and reminding her of a time when the world was younger and she twirled in elegant ballrooms wearing gowns and flowers in her hair. Perhaps the mask with the sapphires would make a nice addition to her collection? Or the other one, the silver, with the powerful glamour?
Suddenly, a gentle vibration from her jacket pocket brought her out of her thoughts. With a frustrated groan she picked up her cell phone, eyes widening at the caller's ID.
“You've got to be kidding me!” She whispered before quickly answering the phone. “On a scale from one to ten, how messed up is it?”
“Now, now, is that any way to greet an old friend?”
“Didn't know you belonged in this category, Raphael.”
“Charming, florcita, but for once I need you to just listen. It's time you leave your little London nest.”
"And why would I do that?”
“Camille is breaking the Accords, does this sound like a valid reason?”
“She what?” Aster left a hiss at the disgustingly familiar name, which was a harbinger of bad news especially when followed by the statement breaking the Accords.
“I know for a fact that your hearing is perfect, my dear. She ordered us to capture a mundane. Hopes to get the Mortal Cup that way.”
“Raphael, stop stalling already! Spit it out, what else is going on? How will a mundane grant her the Mortal Cup?”
“Because he is friends with the Fairchild girl.”
Fairchild?
Did Raphael just mention the Fairchild girl?
The Fairchild girl Magnus told her about all these years ago?
And Camille wanted her mundane friend?
Were these idiots actually trying to start a war that would likely blow up New York?
“Raphael Santiago, what have you done?” A snarl marked Aster's face, making her fangs visible for a few seconds.
“Let's see, I risked my neck by calling you? I try to protect my kin? Now the choice is yours. Clary Fairchild and her little Shadowhunter friends will attempt to save their mundie. We could use an envoy, dare I say, even an ally.”
While Raphael kept talking, part of Aster still tried to process everything she just heard. Not that Camille's breaking the Accords should be particularly shocking. Leave it to her to still be a huge pain even centuries later!
Her eyes involuntarily traveled to the alluring night sky, filled with countless stars. Dawn was a couple of hours away. If she were quick, she'd be on time.
And then the small business of entering the New York Institute.
Who said that life at three hundred would be boring?

To keep this secret to myself is hard, having to keep my ring in my jewellery box is hard, to just be normal is hard because I really want to say it, I want to tell the world that I am engaged, that I am worth something. That a guy did want me for me, for every man that just saw me as Rihanna daughter, to every guy that just assumed I was a whore, I am being wifed up and I am so happy. I have cried tears of joy in the hotel in Italy but having to be quiet about this has been so hard for me because I am happy. I just feel I am entering a new chapter in my life; I just can’t wait to tell the world because men haven’t been kind to me and they never saw me as wife material just because they couldn’t have me but it’s over, I am going to be married and it will be for life, and it’s with a man I want, I am happy, I haven’t stopped smiling since “your home is full, Jesus” Ti said, “is Damson here?” I asked “he is, he’s talking to some of the family, and I thought I would come here and see you, how was Italy? Hey Emi, you playing with makeup brushes again?” I rolled my eyes “she has been playing in my makeup, they new anyways so she is pretending, how are you? And how was Scotland? Some little time away and that” hugging her “it was so good, nice to have peace. Nobody harassed us, people there were lovely but then we had to come back to reality, he is going back soon, so that means so am I” I pulled a face “you’re joking, stay” she laughed “I know, as much as we have the best times, I think you know. I need to be there for a while, but you need to be there for the red carpet event for Snowfall and I am not even joking with you” she pointed “oh I promise I will be there; my house is full I know. People are confused why, my mom said why did you invite Momo, I said why the hell not, Imani is here too, I wanted to slap her but hey, whatever” I shrugged “yeah I saw her, she is so smug. But dad is next to her, but I just came here, how do you feel though? Like nobody actually knows besides me and Damson in this home, how do you actually feel? You are going to be a wife, like this is crazy?” I giggled “good, I was in Italy, and I was laying in bed just thinking and I cried, tears of joy but I just feel like this is a new chapter, mind you I haven’t seen Oakley since, like he called me and all that, but he is busy with something, I don’t know but he is coming, he has the footage, so he has too” I went silent as there is a knock on the door “who is it!?” I asked “dad” I cringed “he hasn’t really spoken to me since, yeah come in!” I spat; Ti side eyed me “I came for Emi but just also you know see Rylee but you’re here too” my dad came in.
Emi is cute, as she grows she is getting cuter “she is hanging with mom too much, she loves my bedroom. She is pretending to put makeup on and talk to herself, she is doing a Fenty tutorial, you see my IG story? I put her up, it’s so funny” she is still on it too “yeah she is always with Robyn and watching her do it but erm yeah, how are you girls?” my dad asked, me and Ti looked at each other “I think we have both become so close, I love having Tianna here. Damson is hilarious and yeah, we all get on over here” Tianna nodded her head “I am happy, I just want to say I am proud of you both with how far you have both come, I am so proud you know that” smiling at him “thank you” Ti said “and I know that you feel I am soft on Imani, maybe I am but I find it hard to you know tell her off, her emotions are so disconnected so it’s hard to just tell her off, and yeah. Mom and I are bringing her home, I know we were hard on you both. I have many regrets” what exactly did Oakley say to my dad “well how is she going to learn?” I questioned “she is still messaging Juke, what do you want me to say” my mouth fell open “so yeah, it’s a losing game girls. I can’t keep doing this, I can’t keep beating people up, or doing this, it’s not on anymore. I guess we have to let her make her mistakes don’t we but within reason, we are going to keep her close, including money wise, it’s going to be in the shared account me and mom hold so we know what she spends it on. But I want you girls to always be close, I am happy for you both because you have both got so far, and I guess with age, it happens” he said, “what did Oakley say to you?” I am so curious now “he gave me different vibes, like he didn’t speak down to me, but he just told me how it is, he told me you know. I guess that, how fucked I have been with you Rylee, particularly you are of course. And I hate that will always be there but it’s a moment that happened, and you was pregnant, he didn’t say anything wrong though but yeah, I better go down. I am so confused why the Barbados crew are here” I laughed “and your mom dad” he pulled a face “I wanted peace, you bought me pain” I chuckled “nah I love it really, see you both down” my dad walked off.
My dad took Emi with him “wow” Ti said “what did Oakley do really? Dad seems sad and I hate to see dad sad” I cringed “I will have to speak to him when I see him, I told you I haven’t seen him with my own two eyes yet, I said I wanted him and dad to make up but now it seems like he is made him sad but yeah, I think he may have bought up the past” I huffed out “well Imani has got the easy way out, why the fuck is she obsessed with Juke!?” Ti spat “good question, but I think it may be to do with him taking her virginity too, I can’t have Juke in the family. As much as Oakley loves him, I need him back with Sky. I may need to pull a mom” Ti laughed sitting down “but I support this, I think you need too though” tapping on Oakley name and putting him on speaker “I need to know what he is doing” I sighed out “babe” Ti chuckled “don’t babe me, where are you?” I asked “I am in the car with my people, I mean like I was gathering my people you know that. I am coming, be about half hour? Or is that not good enough” I chuckled “I mean it is but just miss your face, call me when you park up. I want to see you first, my own two eyes first please” Oakley laughed “alright, yeah. I will call you, I am in the car so I will see you soon” Ti gagged, I kicked her leg “bye” disconnecting the call “gag fest” she said, “I bet you was doing a lot of gagging in Scotland, shut the fuck up” Ti gasped “you really won with Damson though, like he is so loveable and hilarious” Ti grinned “I am so happy, forever grateful to Oakley. Damson was saying Oakley wasn’t a bad guy, him being kicked out of his own house while in school, at a young age that did it to him but then his parents never took blame for that, it’s a shame but I never said Oakley was a bad guy, you can see it but yeah. I am happy for you both, me and Damson was saying that how perfect it was for you both, that is more you two then a holiday engagement” she is right really, I think the whole moment was perfect.
I know my mom is so confused on why the family are all here, this is something she wasn’t expecting but I said I missed them, I don’t really I just want to do this with most of my family here “Rylee I was just showing Mel, the outtakes from Oakley video shoot, he is a real character that man of yours” walking over to her “what did he do now” I have to laugh because Oakley can be stupid “just watch this” she pressed play “my eyes hurt you know” he said with his eyes shut “did you wash you face or your eyeballs” my mom came into the shot and wiped his eyes for him “you are so silly, what are you like” I squinted my eyes “why is he topless?” I questioned “because it’s a morning routine Rylee, oh please” I scoffed “don’t oh please me mom. The fans girls are going to love this” which is true, answering Oakley call “oh she is getting a little overprotective of her man now” I laughed at Mel saying that “as you asked, I am outside now” I knew it “yes” putting the phone down, I have not seen him since because we was supposed to meet and then something came up, something always comes up when it comes to us, but I am excited to see him. Stepping outside and I see a whole lot of cars, he has bought everyone along “who is the wheelchair for?” I pointed Wadz laughed “Juke” letting out an oh, I mean that is his family “what a nice fucking house you got here” Slawn said peeping my home “oh thank you” seeing Oakley, I gasped “flowers!?” I spat “I went to put petrol in that is all” he is such a liar, hugging him “stop it! You got them for me, awww lovey, thank you” pressing a kiss to his lips “well I got it for you init, who else. I got the gang together, the boys. Walid is going to do some video thing so yeah, we on it. Just you know, we doing this” there is so many boys here, this is crazy “Wyge is here too!” I had to announce, “who let him here?” Clint spat “my best friend please, can we all just like each other for the get together” I didn’t expect this “I am so happy for you” Rachel said “aww god, yeah, thank you. It’s been a battle, but nobody knows, so just keep it to us” she hugged me “aww” I cooed out.
My family mouth fell open, like there is so many boys, like loads and I mean ok what the fuck, he never mentioned this, his family is his mom and brother, but what is this, but I won’t say a thing “fucking hell, I have not seen this type of gang in a while” Damson said, Momo is in a state already I can see it “what is this?” my dad asked “erm” I just said “I am shooting a music video” Oakley came up from behind me “that” I said “just in general though, like everything” my dad looked at Juke and everyone in the room did, as did my uncles “I don’t know, Lee said I could use the house” my dad is suspicious “it’s a family home” my dad added “it’s my home, just let’s get drinks, yay. Drinks” diverting Oakley outside “yeah come, let’s go” grabbing his arm “what the fuck? You invited all of west London?” I said “this is my people; this is your family. This is mine, I wanted them here, is it a bad thing? Your family takes half the home but it’s ok?” shaking my head “I just wasn’t expecting it, that is all. It’s fine, put your chest back in, what is wrong?” he has his chest pumped out ready for a fight “just people init, volatile, I want them here that is all. I seen the way they looked at my family, just shit” nodding my head “they did the same to my dad, it’s fine. It happens, just let’s have a good day, come on. I missed you; nobody is fighting here. I have my family and you have yours yeah?” he nodded his head “ok?” I don’t want him to feel like that “yeah” he smiled “Aziel is outside with his cousins so you will catch him there, it’s a good day for us” he nodded his head “it is, I love you” he wrapped his arms around me, this is a very on edge and for what.
From the living area, we have the doors fully open to see outside and the split in families besides my mom and dad, they are mingling with that side, I like it, they are trying, and I want that. My dad feels bad about Oakley, so he is there, my mom is speaking to his mom, and I am glad they are, but my mom family are just not happy “why did you bring us all here niece?” Rorrey asked “because I sometimes miss you and I knew mom would be here” a made up lie “you think it was good to have this mess, to showcase this? Imani is here, and she is trying to get over what he did, do you not care about that?” I laughed “no I don’t, I don’t care about Imani, you right. This is about me, and if she didn’t want to come she could have stayed at home” I stared at her “not my fault you’re chasing half a man” putting a finger up at her “half a man, you’re chasing someone that don’t want you, go and wheel him around if you’re so tough” I scoffed “I can and I will if I want” I sniggered “oh here she goes with her delusions, you have become such a bitch! I ain’t fucking forgiven you for trying to fuck up my relationship! Oh you think I forgot?” now I am mad after I told him to not be bad “who fucking cares about the redundant two, I showed him what you said, how is that my fault” I don’t have it in me to stay calm “Rylee!” Ti spat but before she could even just try and calm me I threw my phone which hit her right on her forehead “you stupid fucking bitch! You think I forgot, I have you in my house and I forgot!? You think your clever” Ti pleaded with me “give my phone back”  I shouted, “I am glad it was the edge, cry!” Ti went over to get my phone “why did you do that?” my dad said, “because I can, she is in my home” Oakley came in after my dad “what’s happened?” he asked me “I might have thrown my phone at Imani, she is crying” I said, “why did you fucking do that for!?” my dad spat “you can’t fucking invite people and do that fucking shit!” my dad hollered “I told that bitch I would get her! And I did, go and wipe her fucking tears dad, go on!” I pointed, Oakley turned around “Lee, leave it” he said but he wasn’t looking at me “you deal with yours, I deal with mine” Oakley said “but the point is she deserves it” Oakley just pulled me along.
Oakley took me outside “are you mad with me? You seem mad with me?” I asked, he shook his head “nah, just ain’t worth it, that is what I wanted to say. You telling me to relax, and to not start shit and look at you” he laughed “I know but I don’t forget, you called me a dickhead over that, I didn’t exactly invite her to beat her but like she spoke to me, just her trying to be fucking clever made me mad, but I knew I wouldn’t get to her so I used my phone” Oakley is laughing “just leave it now, you can stay with me, being dense. The fact you was looking at me when you was the secret one to be mad” he put his arm around me “just a lot of things was annoying me that is all, what is Walid doing?” he is filming “for the video we going to put on social, it will be the reaction to this, just wait on my boy, he is good” Ti rushed over to me “what the fuck happened there” she said “literally what you saw, she shouldn’t have pissed me off really” she cringed “dad was like why did Oakley say I deal with mine, that is my daughter so I came out here, look can we not make things heated, we need to relax it” my dad is coming now “I wish you girls wouldn’t argue and fight like this” he said “these men acting like bamboons!” my ears perked up “oh god, she will always be miserable until death” my dad said “I can peep” Oakley mumbled “she don’t like loud noise and men, fuck my life but really, did we have to like fight like that?” my dad turned back around to me “she was wrong, you know it” Ti went over to Momo “you want to go back inside” she said “you want to dance mama?” Clint said to Momo “I will hit you” Oakley huffed and then pressed a kiss to the top of my head “relax ok, leave her now” nodding my head “come” Oakley hit my dad shoulder, I frowned as they both walked off together, I wonder why he did that.
