So erm... It hath been decided, by the terms of @saphushia proverbially beating me over the head with a golden shovel, that their short comic is canon.

To clarify how this is to be the case, I present to you with a comic that takes place between parts 3 and 4 of the initial "How Etho Deviates" comic! Bdubs, after returning with the stolen supplies from Xisuma’s android facility, decides it's too dangerous to try to have etho fix himself up where bdubs left him in the caves, so he carries etho back up to the surface, probably to wherever safe is closest (most likely to where he has Lulu hitched up).

However comma. This means it takes substantially longer before bdubs is able to give Etho the thirium, and… well, he was laying there for Quite A While. I can only imagine that the increased thirium loss would complicate things considerably.

I really love this one part in this story so much and the implication it holds within it that I always wanted to hear how other interpret it :)

for Seiji I guess almost all the people who would get closer to him and strike up a conversation would be those who wanna win the favor of the Matoba. or those who wanna crush him down, so I guess in short for someone to actually listen or care about whatever he says with no ultra motive is pretty hard for him.

Natsume was very upset and wary of him in this story, yet he was listening earnestly to him talking with no ultra motive whatsoever that Seiji without realizing found himself talking about himself naturally which's also in itself a rare case for him.

Seiji's pausing felt like " wait!! he actually cares and listen to what I'm saying even though I think he hate me so much, yet he earnestly listening to me .. and why am I talking about myself and my problems something I never did before to this kid so naturally ??"

it just for him to find someone listening to him without judging him or to actually care is something new for him, I guess.

also, this other part ...

I guess he also never had anyone worry for his wellbeing like this that he reflexively lied here as to not worry Natsume more than that.

Seiji is just bad at dealing with people who face him earnestly and actually show they care about him.

I find it amusing in a tragic kind of way.

that's why I said that Seiji developing a soft spot for Natsume little by little and that Natsume despite all his issues with Seiji that won't stop him from actually trying to seeing him past all their differences. our boy Natsume is just too kind for his own good T^T

if only that idiot learns a little from Natsume, or wait he actually learned something :)

I absolutely love all of your Mordecai stories! Could you write one where reader is specifically male and how that would affect the relationship? Or a more general scenario where Mordecai makes a habit of fixing reader’s appearance for symmetry, definitely not because he wants an excuse to stand so close to them.

hhhhhh okay i had to prioritize this because i just. i have so much brainrot about this stupid hitman esp with a male partner in particular !!! This will be adjacent to the part 3 of Romantic HC's with him (and I included ur cute symmetry idea in that one instead!) I have a lot of thoughts..

First off, I HC him as gay ace, and that is what I tend to go off whenever I write him. These are my own thoughts and obvs yall can have something totally different! With that said...

He would be slightly more open and have an easier time getting to know a man, simply because of the socialization and gender expectations in the 20's. With women he's always been uneasy because of the unspoken, unknown "expectation" of interacting with them. (though if she wasn't ladylike at all and toted around a gun or dressed masc he'd probs feel otherwise, see him interacting fine with Serafine). Again, 1920's socializing acting as if women are an entirely different creature from men and should be treated as such. So, he'd be a little more accepting of touches and attention from a man because that's more familiar, but we're talking 10% more. Not a huge jump.

As stated in the previous HC's, this is still years of building trust between the two of you before he's willing to acknowledge any feelings. If you're openly gay or bi during this time, he's never been judgmental about it like some might be. Actually, Mordecai doesn't think about your potential love life in the slightest, at least until you two begin to get closer. Then suddenly he's thinking about it.

Attraction has never been something he's experienced, at least not in the way he's heard men talk about women (which, ew, that kind of talk is disgusting). But as you two become closer, he develops emotional and physical attraction toward you; both are confounding and frustrating. It's less sexual attraction and more a very intense physical admiration, even if that person doesn't have conventionally attractive features.

(Personally I think he'd be very attracted to either a very tall and muscular type - similar to Viktor - or a smaller, slender more "pretty" kind of guy. Two opposites on a spectrum, which he admires for different reasons.)

Regardless, it's awful, Mordecai has no idea why this is hitting him just now in his mid-fucking-20s after a whole adolescence of not seeing people that way. The physical admiration comes and goes, but the emotional attraction always hits him like a train when you're both together.

This is probably Totally Normal for close friends who are also comrades that murder people together. This is fine.

Note it's possible you have plenty of other admirers, which gives him even more agitated and conflicting feelings. If it's women fawning over you - even if you aren't interested - that's easy for Mordecai to deal with. Women have bothered him plenty of times, at least until they realize how cold and awkward he is and give up. He doesn't understand why you have to smile and flirt back, but, well, at least that doesn't upset them ....

Men flirting with you is a bit of a different story, especially if you've always been open and comfortable with your own sexuality. The women seem harmless, the men do not. You have this ease and freedom with them that Mordecai doesn't understand and somewhat envies. He can't brush off their attention as being "silly" like the women are; they don't just want to dance with you. It agitates him so much and he struggles to fully articulate why. Maybe a small voice in his head tells him that if he were more normal, maybe you might be just as attentive to him. That you have expressed your trust and affection to him, but he struggles in returning it, so it's no wonder you might seek it elsewhere.

In this time period, there's incredibly little understanding around the concept of asexuality (and even then, it's written as though it's a disease or mental failure). Mordecai has certainly never heard of such things, and he's never struggled with his lack of sexual attraction until his feelings began developing for you. This is why he becomes so jealous if you're free with your love and attention to others. Before you both were ever a real "thing" (but the feelings were very much there, hanging unspoken between you), Mordecai would start huge arguments about whoever you'd be sleeping around with. He hadn't cared for years, and now he does? Seriously, if you smell like another man Mordecai goes from 0 to 100 and barks at you to wash up. You point out that Viktor always smells like sawdust and oil but Mordecai doesn't shove him into the bathroom.

Viktor thinks whatever you two have going on with these spats is just weird. More than once he's yanked you both by the neck and tossed you out of the garage for being so noisy.

(Note if you're someone whose on a similar wavelength as Mordecai, or you simply don't enjoy sleeping around with strangers and prefer close connections, that jealousy simmers down considerably. No, these are not healthy reactions or feelings he has. He has never been a well-adjusted individual. )

Once you both are more of an established ""couple"" (if thats what this strange long-term pining and angsting and yearning that's finally become something of a real Thing can be called), Mordecai still wouldn't consider himself "like that". Not because of shame of being gay, but because he genuinely hasn't felt this way toward anyone, man or woman. You're his exception. He likes you.

All the drama aside... Because of the odd nature of you and Mordecai's relationship, plus his closed-off personality and the odd hours you two keep, no one actually suspects the relationship is romantic for a very long time. Mitzi and maybe Atlas have caught onto something, especially if you're open about your attraction to men, but they assume it's a one-sided crush on your part. Viktor is the only one who picks up that Mordecai might feel the same, and only because he's around you both so often and he sees the odd looks and lingering touches - and notably, how you two interact with him is very different with how you interact with each other. Not his business, but he'd protect you both in a heartbeat. Viktor never says it out loud, but he's aware of other associates or employees who may not be accepting of you two and could be a potential threat. He watches them very carefully.

(And related to that - Atlas doesn't think twice about taking you in and treats you with just as much respect as his other employees, which would be remarkable for a known gay man in the 20's. That's probably how he got you signed onto being a triggerman...)

And related to any threats, Mordecai will go fucking feral on anyone who tries to threaten or hurt you for your sexuality. It doesn't matter if you're playing it cool or ignoring them, he's already got his gun out. Viktor will join in too, but he at least asks if you want to kill them or "just" scare them shitless.

So, in closing ... Yes, the relationship would be a little more complicated with a masc person vs a femme because of the time period and the lack of vocabulary+understanding of Mordecai's own identity. A person whose experienced and very comfortable in their own skin would help him out a lot, whether they're asexual or allosexual, someone whose willing to just sit and talk these things out (even if sometimes he's mortified to even bring it up). If the person is just as questioning and confused, well, it might end up more chaotic, hah.

Ok, complicated thoughts on Jamie in 3x11:

I do actually like the way forgiveness was talked about this episode and how it was used with Jamie particularly, because I agree with what Ted said - I don’t think forgiveness is always something you do for the other person, and I certainly don’t think it’s condoning their actions or welcoming them back into your life, I think a lot of the times it’s more like letting go of something, so that what someone did to you no longer has power over you.

And Jamie needs that, because he’s can’t keep letting his dad motivate his actions one way or another - either trying to please him or trying to anger him. In both cases, his life becomes more about his dad than about him. He almost ruined his entire career at one point because he tried to make his dad mad - a choice I doubt he would have made without his dad being a motivation. And like he said in 3x06, even when his dad isn’t physically there, he’s always really there.

So much of this season has been about forgiveness - but BOTH types. The team and Beard forgiving Nate AND welcoming him back because he does regret his mistakes, Ted forgiving his mom for how she hurt him even unintentionally, but it’s ALSO Rebecca no longer letting herself be motivated by hatred of Rupert, making her choices for herself, and not just to spite him. But in that case, Rupert isn’t sorry for what he’s done and Rebecca ISN’T going to give him another chance or welcome him back into her life.

The biggest misstep for how it was handled this episode though is that that doesn’t mean Jamie has to have a relationship with his dad. Forgiving him is about letting go of the anger so it doesn’t have to affect JAMIE’S life anymore, so that he doesn’t feel driven by it. But you can forgive someone for yourself, you can let go so you can heal, and STILL have absolutely nothing to do with them because they aren’t good people to have in your life.

Because while Jamie needs to move on, James Tartt in no way deserves him reaching out to him.

You can forgive someone and still hold them accountable for their actions. And you absolutely should actually. And you can do it without giving them a second change; those are two very different things.

And THAT’S the piece they missed (both in this storyline and with Sam). And a horrible father like James Tartt who did nothing but terrorize his son doesn’t deserve an olive branch. He should be cut out of Jamie’s life forever.

About that entitled ass post about x reader, op was definitely wrong but a small point was made.

I agree with your response but I'd like to add that, unless you've stated that certain characteristics or features will be present in reader, certain kinds of ambiguity is necessary, especially in appearance.

To make a character completely void of any backstory or personality is just bad writing period but to add an appearance is a little ...

As a black reader, reading about certain things that are supposed to reflect the reader is genuinely disheartening. I'm talking about things like referencing imagery of lighter skin (such as refering to readers skin as pink, pale, creamy, etc) or something like a character running their fingers through the reader's hair or having a hair washing routine that can be done in the time it takes to have a regular shower. I know with people with big bodies, having descriptions of small, light bodies is also disheartening.

Bc, once again, unless it's been stated that those are a part of reader's appearance, it's a little unnecessary bc it shows that although it's x reader it's definitely not for us.

I don't expect writers to write about specific events or characteristics about different cultures and such bc that can also go south REAL quick if you aren't properly educated or aware but a little diversity never hurt anyone

I know that some people do this out of genuine dislike of darker skinned/bigger people but I know most people do it out of genuine ignorance.

Unfortunately, you cannot bring up including people who don't fit typical beauty standards (pale/light skinned, long straight hair, thin/slim bodies) without people telling you that not everyone has to cater to you.

But the thing is, we're not asking you to cater to us; we're just asking you to include us in your vision of reader. You don't need to add specifics of everything regarding different races or cultures but you don't need to add specifics that exclude them.

And then when we go to create our own stories that do envision us, we're met with so much hatred and backlash about it like that one deleted comment on op's post.

I'm sorry for ranting about this but it so frustrating sometimes when people don't understand this. I brought up something similar to this topic once before and got death threats in my mentions for weeks (that's why this is anonymous)

ALSO, I'm not accusing you of any of the things I've mentioned in this ask. Based on what I've read from your work so far, the reader is actually someone you can enjoy reading about without feeling excluded when appearances are mentioned

im afraid you missed my main point and also, u are talking to someone who is literally a POC so i am definitely not in need of a rundown of how important it is to write reader in a manner that does not perpetuate western beauty standards. writing a reader that is inclusive for people in a manner that doesn't solidify western norms is important, but writing a reader that is an all encompassing fit all type of thing in terms of personality and decision making is not

its not that their point ab mistagged gn! readers and white/western physical features weren't valid—it was, but it was sprinkled in their main point that writing reader with personality is an oc and is not belonging in the tags and writers should focus on writing generic hcs instead. they used the issue of race and gender and other minoroties to support their idea that readers have to be ambiguous from all fronts, and that is a very twisted way to use actual real issues to justify your tantrums ab not liking dialogue or what the reader chose to do. my point that i was trying to make is that writers are entitled to write however they please as long as they tag what features of reader are set there. if they mistag that, then yes, that is something you should bring to their attention (politely) because then it misleads ppl to think this fic includes them. but that also is not done through a rant in the tags because that does not belong in the tags

quite frankly, to pair racial and gender representation issues as comparable to not aligning with the choices a reader takes to develop as a character and to put those two on the same boat takes away from the issue of inclusivity. inclusivity of a reader does NOT equal to how they think, process, feel, and progress in the storyline. not fitting in with the actual character of reader is incomparable to racial representation issues and misgendering tags and etc. the latter are REAL issues. the first is simply complaining bc u did not see urself in a plot

the actual problem with their rant was that they were using REAL issues to justify entitled complaining and that is why i did not validate them in that. yes writing reader as white and not tagging it is an issue. yes giving little to no thought to poc readers in writing is an issue. yes mistagging something as gn! while using gendered terms is an issue. but they should not be the backbone to an entirely different argument that essentially censors people

To paraphrase, he basically said he hopes for a ceasefire in the israel/palestine conflict and for compassion and safety for all innocent people on both sides.

I guess the x/sh/tw-itter radicals didn't think that was.. radical enough of him? How dare he wish for safety for everybody instead of only for palestinians, right? Is what I'm getting from the tweets and responses I've seen anyway, but I didn't dig too deep into it because I'm so secondhand ashamed of the things people are saying to him I couldn't read it all.

I just hope he knows we love him and most of us are aware he doesn't actually think genocide is a great idea.

dusknoir and hero kind of. talking about stuff post game...like him and grovyle and celebi come for a visit to the past to see them and partner yknow...but uh, yeah. him and hero on the edge of the ol bluff...during the sunset...kind of like grovyle and partner during the sunrise in that one scene...

dusknoirs apologizing ofc and tries to more or less explain himself and is sure hero will never forgive him. that theyll be just as frustrated as partner.....but....instead hero kind of. relaxes? next to him. and just, asks about grovyle and celebi and...his partnership with them....dusknoirs like......??? well. we went exploring last week, it was successful....hero kind of chuckles like. not what im talking about...i want to know if. even when your explorations arent successful...will you have his back......will you stick by him.....will he have someone thats there for him....no matter what.....

now dusknoirs just like. Oh...yes. of course, i will. him, as well as celebi...

hero seems.....content enough with that....still not sure if they can 100% trust him but....grovyle seemed a lot happier and more sure of himself today than any other memory they have of him......they may not know what to make of dusknoir's "transformation" but.....they want to believe that their former partner has teammates that will always be with him....

I can't stop being ashamed of the ways my executive dysfunction has affected my life

What's your opinion about District 4 as Career District?

Why is there a difference between District 4 and other Career Districts (1&2) in supporting the rebellion?

From all known victors from 4, who do you think the first to support it?

I think that district 4 was a career district!

I haven’t done a re-read in a while but i think I always just assumed that the proximity (not geographical, I mean like the fact that they had close ties) of D1&2 to the Capitol probably has a lot to do with their lack of support in the rebellion.

like we know that D1&2 are viewed very favourably by the Capitol and get more food and resources from them etc so it makes sense that they'd be more loyal. however, i don't remember the same being the case for D4 (someone correct me if I'm wrong though). D4 has always felt more like D7, D10, D11 to me based on vibes alone.

In terms of supporting the rebellion, I feel like the first could have been Mags honestly. Or at least, I feel like she would have known about what was happening.

I can definitely see her being contacted by Plutarch and being asked about how likely the other D4 victors would have been to join. like,, mags was the first D4 victor and i assume she will have done a lot of the mentoring in the years to come. she would have been a great starting point for the rebellion. who else would have known/understood her districts victors personalities better than her? and also the fact that she's been around for so long would mean that she could also provide a lot of insight into victors from other districts and the workings of the games themselves etc

and yeah, i feel like mags might have needed a bit of convincing at first. we know that canonically she's half-raised finnick (and probably other D4 victors too, esp if they were careers) so i could see her initially being cautious about promises of rebellion and change. she's old enough to have been alive before the first games, (maybe not old enough to remember what life was like but she probably would have had some idea from like idk - her parents talking about it or something) and so i can see her being weary of the idea of putting the other victors in more danger on the hope of something better.

but we also know that mags is kind and selfless and caring and i think she also would have wanted her 'kids' to have a chance at living in a better world. so yeah! i think mags would have been the first D4 victor told about the rebellion and i think finnick would have come soon after.

i don't think ive read fics that specifically discuss this, but most of @finnicksannie (TheWalkingGrimes on ao3)'s thg fics are about D4 and it's victors so those fics are all a brilliant place to start! also i know @the-sun-and-the-sea also has lots of d4 centric fics on ao3!

#i hope some of this at least makes a bit of sense #i have so many thoughts about d4 and odesta but I've seen so many different interpretations and headcanons that always seem so cool #and so i'm always a bit shy about sharing mine bc i never feel like i manage to explain myself well #anyway!#rosa shut up challenge #rosa talks ❁#finnick odair #odesta #annie cresta #❀ rosa replies
