JIMMY SOLIDARITY WHEN I CATCH YOU

Hi Vert! You posted an idea (the Ethubs ballroom dancing one) that I've been rotating in my mind for HOURS and I was hoping to get your permission to write something with it! Would you mind if I did?

What’s so interesting to me about the Mean Gills is that they started this whole thing on opposite sides of a war. They both fell in love with people who made their lives better. People they could see a future with. Until they died. And slowly but surely, those first punished loves, drifted away. Scott’s was easier to see, he voiced it, tried to make Jimmy come back to him, tried to make Jimmy tell him that he was at least still loved. But Jimmy didn’t reciprocate. With Martyn, him and Ren still partnered and did things whenever they could. But then Ren was missing from the games. And how else was Martyn supposed to contact him? Hermitcraft was such a busy place and Ren had a lot going on. Surely he didn’t want this old dog at his side. Someone who didn’t have any more new tricks.

Both burned by love, Scott and Martyn teamed up. They never addressed the loves they were lamenting, never talked about the desperation and loneliness that had drawn them together and created their quick fling. A relationship they thought could fill a void when really it only made them miss their old flames more. It turned them vicious, maybe not outwardly, but it did. This was a partnership that crashed and burned, that went down swinging at each other, a relationship with teeth and claws. But was it worth it? I mean they sure had fun.

Scott, loyal to a fault. Martyn, a man who had at least thought of betrayal in every other team he had been in.

“None of these niceties. This is a death match for a reason.”

“My own Mean Gill. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Martyn went down with a symbol of his king. A king he was still devoted to but hadn’t seen in ages. He didn’t go down for or with Scott. He actively betrayed him. Stabbed him in the back. Maybe Martyn did have some new tricks. But Scott would never have Jimmy’s love again. He wanted his husband back, but that man had died long ago. Buried by Scott’s own hand in their special place.
