18+ MINORS DNI
Five years ago, the riot that had occurred within the prison was broadcasted over every news station. Reports of multiple inmates and Prison Guards were dead, there were more reported injuries. Wanda called Pepper, hoping to hear that she would never get the bad news, which she never did receive the bad news.
Five years, she carried on writing to them, telling them everything that had happened during her week, even telling them about the sucky dates that Nat kept setting her on. She even told them about her last interaction with Jarvis, that was only a few months ago.
“Wanda?” He smirked as they bumped into each other, Wanda tensed up at the sound of his voice. “How is Y/N? I’ve been meaning to visit them, congratulate them on making it to the NFL.” But then he chuckled. “But they never had the chance did they? Because they took the fall for you.”
“Please leave me alone.” Wanda whispered as he just laughed.
“Not so brave without a gun are we.” He sneered as she looked away from him. “It should be you in their place, you should be the one serving time for almost killing me.” Wanda just shook her head and walked away from him, the sound of his laugh remained in her mind for weeks after that.
But what she didn’t know was Y/N was now getting out on good behavior. They walked through the gates, seeing Nat leaning against her car, a smile on her face as she saw her oldest friend.
“Hey.” They gave her a small smile as she opened her arms for them.
“Hi.” She embraced them tightly, afraid to let go with the fear that they might disappear. “Let’s get you home.” They walked to the passenger side and got in, watching the roads as they passed by.
“How’s everyone been?” They asked her.
“Well, Morgan is now a troublesome teen. She missed you so much, the same as your mom.” She told them. “Oddly enough, your dad has tried to help get your release finalised sooner.” She noticed their shocked expression. “I know, I almost died too.”
“What about Wanda?” They asked her as she nodded, a tight lipped smile on her face. “She’s been sending me letters ever since I stopped her or anyone visiting me.”
“I know.” Nat told them. “She told me, she also told me you never replied to any of them.”
“I have written her letters.” Y/N told her. “I have them all here, but I just couldn’t send them to her.”
“Why?” Nat questioned as they looked out of the window.
“I wanted her to be able to move on, even if it meant that I was the one to let her go.” They admitted. “She knows how much I love her and I wanted her to live her life without ever thinking of me again.”
“It didn’t work though.” Nat started as Y/N nodded with a light chuckle.
“It didn’t, she told me about all of the dates you set her up on.” They spoke as they watched the road ahead. “She told me how she couldn’t bring herself to do anything more than one date with any of them.”
“Because she is in love with you.” Nat told them. “She just realised it too late, and you were too much of a coward to tell her.”
“I know.” They nodded. “I just couldn’t deal with losing her if she never felt the same way.”
“I know.” She nodded as they soon reached New York. Their heart started to beat rapidly as they realised that they don’t look the same as they did a decade ago, they have scars and look worn out compared to how they used to look.
“What if no one likes me now?” Y/N questioned as Nat chuckled.
“Believe me, everyone has missed you so much Y/N.” She told them. “Well, except Jarvis.”
“Please tell me he has finally moved away.” They groaned as Nat shook her head no.
“I’m afraid not.” She told them as she pulled into the Stark Mansion driveway.
“Fuck.” They muttered as they looked up at the place they called their home. “It looks even more intimidating now.”
“Yeah.” Nat laughed as she got out, followed by Y/N as they grabbed their bags, following Nat up the stairs to the door.
“Nat?” Pepper questioned as she answered the door.
“Mom?” Y/N smiled as they looked over Nat’s shoulder.
“Y/N?” She gasped as Nat moved to the side, taking Y/N’s bags and heading inside. “You’re home?”
“I’m home.” They told her, a smile on their face as she cupped their face, getting a proper look at them.
“You look rugged.” She told them.
“Yeah, I need to cut my hair.” They admitted as she shook her head
“I think you suit it.” She told them. “Come on, Morgan will be excited to see you.” She led them inside, listening as Morgan and Yelena were talking about their homework. “Morgan, look who’s here.” She told her as she let go of Y/N’s hand, Morgan’s eyes instantly landing on theirs.
“Y/N?” She squealed as she jumped up into their arms, Y/N chuckled as they caught her.
“Oh god.” Y/N hugged her close before letting her go. “You’ve grown so much.”
“Well, it has been 10 years now.” She reminded them as their heart broke a little.
“I missed you little one.” They told her softly as she hugged them tighter than before.
“Promise you won’t leave me again.” She whispered shakily.
“I’m not going anywhere.” They told her honestly. “I promise.”
“Come eat.” Pepper told them as Morgan led them into the dining room, Morgan catching Y/N up on everything they missed.
“You should have seen dad’s face when he found out that I wanted to be a writer.” Morgan told them with a smirk. “I thought he was going to pop a vein or something.”
“Well, he wasn’t happy that you were straying away from the family business.” Pepper stated.
“Just like he wasn’t happy with me when I strayed away from his dreams.” Y/N remarked as Pepper sighed, both Morgan and Nat remained silent. “Where is dad and Jarvis? I would have thought they could have been here, you know it has been 10 years after all.”
“Y/N, you know why your father isn’t here, same with Jarvis.” Pepper warned them.
“Yeah, they’re not happy because Wanda returned the ring when he was in the coma.” Morgan smirked as Nat and Y/N chuckled lightly.
“Your father and brother were devastated!” Pepper raised her voice. “Wanda would have been a fine addition to this family.”
“No.” Y/N shook their head. “She was too good for him.” Pepper went to interrupt but Y/N stopped her. “You know it too mom, Jarvis isn’t a nice guy, he never has been.”
“Y/N, he has changed.” She tried as Y/N snorted.
“And hell has frozen over.” Y/N remarked as Pepper shook her head in disapproval.
“Are you going to tell Wanda your back?” Nat questioned as Y/N tensed up.
“I don’t know.” They answered. “I have her letters there in my bag, but I don’t think she will want to see me.”
“She will.” Morgan told them. “She has been coming around to see how you are, if there has been any news.”
“She hasn’t moved on.” Nat told them. “I’ve tried to get her to go on dates and meet someone, just so she has someone and she doesn’t get past the first date.”
Y/N listened to them as they informed them of how Wanda has spent the last decade, how she has kept hope that she would see Y/N again, be with Y/N and have a future with them.
“Can you take me to Wanda’s?” Y/N asked Nat who only nodded with a smile.
“Let’s go then.” She told them, they kissed both Morgan and Pepper on the head before grabbing the bag with the letters for Wanda, and following Nat out to her car.
“How do you think she’ll react?” They asked her nervously.
“Well, I don’t really know.” Nat answered them. “She was furious that you did what you did for her. There was a brief moment she hated you but we all know she can’t hate you.” She sighed as she pulled up outside of Wanda’s building. “To be honest, she may be mad, she may be happy. It could go either way really.”
“That helps Natalia, really.” They spoke sarcastically as the two got out of the car. They followed her up the stairs to Wanda’s floor, wanting to take as much time as they could before seeing the woman they had failed to forget during their time in prison.
“Nat, what are you doing here?” Wanda asked as she answered the door to her, Y/N leaned on the wall as they heard her voice for the first time in years. Their heart beating rapidly in their chest as their nerves had gotten worse.
“Someone wanted to see you.” Nat told her. “They haven’t really stopped thinking about you or asking about you all day and it is kind of annoying.”
“You should have come later. I have company.” She told her with a raised brow.
“Is it Stu?” She asked with a raised brow.
“Yeah, he is just in the shower.” Y/N dropped the bag of letters on the floor as Nat noticed their expression falter before they started towards the exit.
“Well, I will want to hear all about it, but these are for you.” Nat handed her the bag of letters before she hurried after Y/N, she reached them as they leaned against the car waiting for her.
“You told me she wasn’t seeing anyone.” They told her sadly as Nat sighed.
“I thought she wasn’t, I set them up a couple of weeks ago and I never thought she would actually see him again because she never does.” Nat told them as they stepped away from the car.
“I’m going to walk home.” They told her as they stepped away. “I need to be alone right now.”
“Y/N, you’ve just got out, let’s celebrate.” Nat tried as they shook their head.
“Maybe it would have been better if I never survived the riot five years ago.” They told her.
“No.” She scolded them. “You do not get to say that! We have been friends forever and I hated the last decade! I hated it because my friend wasn’t here with me.” She took their hand. “Let’s go and see Steve and Bucky, there is a lot you have missed.” She led them to the car before starting their journey.
“What are those?” Stu asked as Wanda emptied the bag of letters on the table, organising them by date.
“Letters from Y/N.” She whispered as he picked one up.
“Why didn’t they ever send them?” He asked as she shrugged, standing up and getting herself a glass of wine.
“I don’t know.” She answered him, her eyes burning with years of unshed tears and emotions. “I think you should leave.” She told him as he laughed.
“Come on, Wanda, you can’t be serious.” He asked her. “We have been going out for a few weeks now, I asked you to be mine last night before we fucked.”
“Wow, real classy Stu.” She spat at him before she took a deep breath. “Maybe we need to take a step back.”
“No! That’s absurd!” He yelled as Wanda shook her head.
“No, what’s absurd is me thinking I could ever love someone else the way I love them.” She told him. “Please just leave and lose my number.” She told him as she held the door open for him, watching as he grabbed his things before approaching her.
“You’re going to regret this.” He told her as he stood before her.
“The only thing I regret is even giving us a chance.” She told him before slamming the door in his face, taking a deep breath as she locked the door and made her way back over to the letters.
She noticed from the first one, they had written to her since she had sent in her first letter to them. A small smile played on her lips at the idea of Y/N even having some hope for them.
Dear Wanda,
I know that this isn’t exactly a peak milestone in our friendship, but I think it should count. I got your letter and I am sorry that this happened to us. I just couldn’t picture you in here suffering for something that might have saved your life.
You’re my best friend, my biggest supporter, the ying to my yang.
Love Y/N/N
She smiled as she read their small letter, remembering how they could barely stand writing and always opted to call instead. But as she read the letters, she smiled at how much longer they had gotten.
Dear Wanda,
I know you probably hate me by now, I pushed you away when you needed me, but truthfully, you never really did need me. Seeing how you’ve written about your life this past couple of years has really made me proud. I am proud of the woman you have become Wanda and whoever is lucky enough to call you theirs should know it.
I know in another lifetime, maybe it did work out for us, maybe we would have worked out right now if I had the balls to tell you how I felt before college. Before you even thought of being with my brother. We could have had everything, maybe if I am lucky enough and you’re still single when I get out of here, we can have everything. I know that’s a pipe dream that’s never going to happen.
Love Y/N/N
Dear Wanda,
It’s been five years, and these five years have been the loneliest I have ever been. Yeah, I have a cellmate, Brock, he is a dick but he has my back. We have to look out for each other here or we could end up dead, believe me, there are some people here who hate my dad and they do tend to take it out on me because of my name and relationship with him, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.
There hasn’t been a day where I don’t think about you, Wanda. Everyday I wake up and wonder what you might be doing today, are you happy and healthy? Have you found that person that makes you smile as soon as you open your eyes? But on some selfish level, I wish that you are as alone as me, I wish that maybe you’re waiting for me to get out of here, but that is all just wonders.
Love Y/N/N
Wanda couldn’t bring herself to read the next letter, given there is a two month pause in between them. Not wanting to read the extent of the injuries they suffered during that riot, the nightmares that occured after or the horror they witnessed.
“It’s so good to have you back!” Bucky cheered as he pulled Y/N into a tight embrace.
“Have you been to see Wanda? I’m sure she will be so thrilled.” Steve started as he pulled them into his embrace.
“We did.” Y/N told them with a small smile. “She had company.”
“She never saw Y/N, they just dropped the letters they wrote to her and left.” Nat told the couple.
“Was it Stu?” Steve questioned as Nat nodded.
“I don’t like him.” Bucky blurted out, making everyone laugh. “What? He is a pompous dick.”
“I can agree with that.” Nat nodded as Y/N looked out of the window.
“Y/N, I have something to show you.” Steve said as he led Y/N away from the other two, closing the door to his office before turning to them. “Talk to me.”
“About what?” They asked him.
“About how you feel.” He spoke softly. “I’ll be here to listen, a shoulder to lean on because I can see that you’re trying your hardest to put on a brave face.”
“I am anxious.” They started as they picked up a picture of Steve and Bucky on their wedding day, a smile on their face as they admired the picture. “I have spent the last decade a nervous wreck, barely a few hours of sleep each night, the threats that I received because of the amount of people who knew who I really was, thinking that The Great Tony Stark will pay out millions to ensure his child’s safety.” Steve just listened as they rambled on. “And tonight, I don’t know how I’m going to deal with the nightmares. The last five years have been ok because I have been in a cell on my own, but I am home and I don’t want anyone to see me like that.”
“I don’t know how bad your nightmares are, but you have a lot of support here, your sister, mom and you have all of us. All we want is to help you through this because you have suffered a great deal while you have been inside.” He told them. “You won’t be alone ok.” He pulled them in for another hug before they pulled away quickly.
“I missed your wedding!!” They yelled as Steve nodded with a laugh. “I can’t believe I missed everything!!”
“It’s ok.” He smiled at them before resting his hand on the door handle. “Talk to Wanda, you never know what will happen tomorrow. You of all people should know that.”
Wanda stood at the step of the Stark Residence, knocking frantically, after reading the letter they wrote after the riot, she wanted to know why no one told her of their injuries.
“Wanda?” Morgan questioned as Wanda gave her a smile.
“Hi, is your mom here?” She asked the teen politely.
“Yeah, come in.” She let the now brunette inside, leading her to the living room where Pepper sat reading the paper.
“Wanda, what are you doing here?” Pepper questioned. “I would have thought you would be out with everyone celebrating.”
“Why would I be celebrating?” She questioned as Pepper raised a brow.
“Y/N’s home.” Was all she said before the door opened again, Wanda turned in time to see Y/N enter the living room. Her eyes stung with tears waiting to be shed as Y/N’s eyes widened, their heart beating rapidly in their chest as Pepper cleared her throat. “I think you two should talk.” She got up and grabbed Morgan’s wrist. “We are going out for dinner.” With that, Wanda was left in the house alone with Y/N.
“Hello, my love.” They gave her a nervous smile. “Do you want a drink?” They asked her as she just shook her head, her eyes never leaving their form. “Well, I need one.” She followed them into the kitchen, watching as they grabbed the whiskey and poured themselves a glass.
“You look different.” Wanda told them as they chuckled.
“Well, it has been 10 years.” They chuckled as they turned to face her.
“Don’t do that.” She told them firmly. “Don’t make it seem like this is all on me. I wanted to wait for you, fight for you, for us, because you were the one who pushed me away.”
“Because I wanted you to live your life Wanda! You deserve to find your happiness and not be constantly haunted by the thought of us!” They yelled as she chuckled dryly.
“Is that why you never sent me any of those letters? You just kept them in a bag thinking I would never read them.” She spat as she stepped closer to them.
“I wanted you to move forward Wanda. I wanted you to live your life and not wait on me.” They told her softly.
“I was willing to wait for you because I loved you!” She poked their chest. “I really loved you.” With that she left the house, leaving a sad Y/N behind.
“She just left?” Morgan asked as she sat beside Y/N on the sofa.
“Yep.” They nodded as Morgan chuckled lightly.
“I would have thought she would have jumped your bones after not seeing you for years.” She told them as they nudged her arm.
“Hey! Don’t talk like that.” They scolded her as she gave them a serious look.
“I’m not 6 anymore Y/N.” She told them. “I’m 16 now, but you wouldn’t know that, I haven’t had a happy birthday off of you in 10 years.” With that she stormed up to her room as Pepper walked in.
“Just give her time.” She told them. “She missed you so much when you were arrested, she cried every night for you.”
“I’m sorry mom.” They whispered as they looked at Pepper who only smiled.
“You have nothing to apologise for.” She told them. “I know the truth of what really happened. Nat told me, and then Wanda did.” Y/N sat and listened to her as she spoke. “I know what your brother is capable of, I know what he did to Wanda too and why she did it.” She turned to face them as she spoke. “I also understand why you did what you did, although I was furious with you, because you threw away your career for someone.”
“It wasn’t just someone.” Y/N remarked as Pepper smiled at them.
“I know that, I remembered seeing how you looked at her, how much you hated every guy she ever dated, how they were never good enough for her.” She told them. “I know you more than anyone, but you need to get your feelings in order because that girl has waited for you for 10 years.”
“She’s with someone.” Y/N told her sadly. “She told Nat and the guys.”
“Fight for her.” She told them. “Don’t give up on the one thing that gave you hope!” She pulled them up to their feet. “Go, now!” She handed them their keys, a smile appearing on their face. “I kept it looked after all these years, I may have neglected my own car just to keep yours running.”
“Thank you mom.” They whispered as they hugged her, soon racing their way to Wanda’s apartment, remembering the address and the number. Racing up the stairs, soon standing outside her door. Knocking frantically and waiting impatiently for her to answer it.
“What are you doing here?” She asked them as they gave her a small smile.
“The way we left it the other day, it shouldn’t have been left like that.” They rambled as she fought the smile that wanted to appear. “We both should be happy to see each other, not argue over something so small.”
“Would you like to come inside?” Wanda asked them. “I have a fresh pot of coffee on.”
“I would like that.” They smiled as she stepped aside, allowing them inside. They followed her through to her kitchen, admiring the decor and the pictures she had on the wall. “I got your letters.” They told her. “They uh got me through a lot of tough times.”
“Why didn’t you ever send your letters?” She asked them as they sighed, thanking her for the cup.
“I thought that maybe you would forget about me. Move on with your life without me.” They told her honestly. “I guess, I just thought that maybe you would be married to a great guy with a family of your own.”
“I couldn’t.” Wanda whispered as she looked in their eyes. “I tried to move on, I did but my heart belonged to you.” She exhaled sharply before continuing. “It still does.”
“Wanda.” They whispered as they soon pulled her in for a tight hug, Wanda sighed as she felt their strong arms around her middle. The two remained in this position for a long moment, neither wanting it to end just yet.
“Sit with me.” Wanda said as she soon dragged them to sit on the sofa, her head leaning on her hand as she gazed at them. “You have some scars.” She lightly touched their face as she looked into their eyes.
“Well, the riot wasn’t the only violence I had experienced.” They told her honestly. “I had a few run-ins with some of the inmates, and they weren’t exactly nice.”
“I think you look hot.” She whispered as they soon removed her hand from her.
“You’re in a relationship.” They told her, watching as she shook her head no.
“I ended it last week, the day Nat gave me your letters.” She told them honestly. “I knew there was no sense in moving on because I should be with you, Y/N.”
“You can’t say that and expect me not to kiss you.” They told her barely above a whisper, caressing her face as she smiled at them.
“What if I want you to kiss me?” She replied, biting her lip as she felt their hot breath fanning over her face. Y/N wasted no time in pressing their lips onto hers, kissing her roughly before she straddled their lap, soon spending the night exploring each other’s bodies.
Y/N listened as there was constant yells and banging from outside the cell, sharing a look with Brock who got his own homemade shiv from under his pillow. Watching as he disappeared onto the walkway, yelling profanities as he swung his weapon around.
Y/N listened to the pained yellings of injured inmates, the triumphant shouts of others as they stepped out of their cell, looking over the railings to see the guards also fighting for their lives. It wasn’t until they looked to their left, seeing someone charge at them, sending them over the edge and onto the lower level. Groaning as they turned over just in time to stop another stabbing them.
“Y/N!” They heard Brock call out to them, struggling against two fellow inmates. “Y/N!”
“Y/N.” They soon jolted awake and fell out of the bed, a worried Wanda looked over the edge. “Are you ok?” She asked them as they got up, climbing back in the bed and nodding.
“Yeah, it was just a nightmare.” They told her.
“Do you want to talk about it?” She asked them as she rested her head on their chest.
“I’m fine.” They told her. “Let’s get some sleep.”
“Is it about the riot?” She asked them as they took a deep breath. “I saw your other scars, I just want you to know that you can talk to me.” She told them softly. “I am not going anywhere.”
“It’s just, there was someone who I could have saved.” They told her. “My cellmate, Brock, he always had my back. Always stuck by me, even though he had every possibility to kill me to get in good with others who wanted me dead.” Wanda watched as they spoke, her fingers tracing mindless patterns on their skin. “He died, trying to help me. I wasn’t supposed to survive that riot, I was supposed to bleed out beside him but the guards, they shut it down.” Wanda took their hand in hers. “I was lucky, this scar here.” They pointed to the scar on their chest. “This was my end.”
“I’m so sorry.” Wanda whispered as they shook their head. “It should have been me who went to prison, not you.”
“I would make the same choice every time.” They told her softly. “I would do anything for you Wanda. I always will.” She cupped their cheek as she moved to sit up, the moonlight cascading over her naked form as she looked deep into their eyes. Noses brushing together as she leaned in to kiss them lovingly, the bodies pressed together as Y/N wrapped their arms around her, making her feel safe and complete for the first time in her life. Only they know what their future holds for the two.
Five Years Later
Y/N was looking around for their belt and work boots frantically, nervous about this job as it is a big job for them.
“Wanda! Have you seen my?” Their words were lost in their throat as they saw a four year old Tommy waddling around in their boots and their belt hanging from his waist. “What do we have here little fella.” They smiled as they picked the toddling child up into their arms.
“I’m so sorry, I tried to keep him away from your things.” Wanda ran in frantically as Y/N only smiled at her.
“It’s ok.” They smiled as they kissed the side of Tommy’s head. “I am my own boss after all.” They pressed a tender kiss to her lips.
“I made your lunch.” She told them as she packed their bag with sandwiches and a flask of coffee as they finished getting themselves ready.
“Thank you.” They smiled as they finally stood up, ready for work. “My mom said she will have the twins tonight and maybe we can have a little date night.”
“I already promised Nat I would go out.” Wanda spoke seriously as Y/N’s smile faltered. “I can cancel if you want me to.”
“No, you should go and let your hair down.” They told her softly. “At least don’t drink too much and call me when you want to be picked up.”
“I will.” She kissed them once more before Billy came running into their arms, hugging them tightly before the three of them waved Y/N off as they drove their truck to the site, meeting Bucky already there and ready for work.
“So how is the wife and kids?” Bucky asked them with a smile.
“They are great, although Tommy seems to have taken a liking to my boots.” They told him honestly as they finished their last job for the day. “My mom is having the twins tonight and Wanda is going out with Nat.”
“So, you have the house to yourself.” He smirked as Y/N chuckled.
“I guess I can do some of the jobs that need doing and I haven’t gotten around to.” They shrugged as Bucky nodded.
“Or you can just sit back and relax.” He told them. “You’re not in prison now Y/N, besides, you served your sentence.”
“Not really though.” They shrugged as Bucky shook his head, the two standing up getting ready to leave. “I only finished half of my sentence.”
“But you got out.” Bucky told them. “You’re free to live your life, watch your family grow. Don’t dwell on the past.”
“I’m not.” They defended as Bucky followed them to the truck.
“You are.” He told them seriously. “Look, I don’t know half of what happened inside but I do know that you have the life you have always dreamed of with Wanda and the twins. Yeah, you may not have your dream job but that’s ok. You just have to make the most of the life you have now.”
Y/N took in his words before the two went their separate ways, he was right because they have always dreamed of living this life together with Wanda. Having a family with her and they have it all.
“I thought you were going out?” Y/N asked as they saw Wanda coming out from the kitchen, a dish of their favorite meal in her hands.
“I can go out with Nat anytime, but I want to spend the night with you.” She told them. “I cooked your favorite.” She told them as they smiled at her.
“Thank you.” They told her as they approached her, their hands wrapping around her waist. “For waiting for me and making me the happiest person alive.”
“I love you Y/N.” She told them sincerely as she looked in their eyes. “I will always love you until my dying days, and even in the afterlife, I will love you.” They captured her lips in a gentle kiss before she pushed them away, a teasing smirk on her face. “Go and shower, I’ll keep the dinner warm.”
“I love you Wanda Maximoff.” They told her. “You have always been the light of my life.” She blushed as they ascended the stairs to their shared bedroom, the walls were lined with pictures, from the memories they had made together, some from before they left for college, and more from when they had come back into her life. The moments they had shared together which made their hearts glow as one, even brighter the moment they brought the twins into the world, making their family complete.

I know u have a billion requests but I'm dying fir a carmy x reader where she goes into labor
i have one here with willow but i'll write a first time one too with teddy!
Carmen knew it was coming soon, which is why he hovered. Why he rarely let you be alone, the thought of him missing it or something happening made him sick. Tina and Sugar both told him it was a long process, there's no way he'd miss it, but he was still anxious. Worried about a lot of things, thoughts that kept him up at night. Would he be a good dad? Would the birth go ok? What if something happens to the baby? What if something happens to you? What if he gets in a wreck on the way home? What if the baby died in her sleep?
Thoughts that had him throwing up all hours of the night. Your morning sickness was traded in for his own, worrying himself to the point he was sure he had an ulcer.
The phone rang, a Tuesday in August. Still sunny and warm, but with the golden glow that hinted fall was coming soon. Carmen was so busy, trying to approve the new seasonal menu, and for a moment his mind had slipped of all those anxieties. Until he heard your voice.
"I think I'm in labor."
"You think?" Carmen barked, harsher than he meant it to, a wave of guilt flooding over him. "What-What-What do you mean think? Are you ok?"
"Well, my water just broke." You frowned, looking at the puddled under your swollen belly. You paused, a hesitation laying thick in the air between the two of you over the line. "I think it's time."
Carmen was a wreck, swerving and punching the gas in and out of Chicago traffic to get the the brownstone, parking up on the sidewalk, HOA be damned.
You were calm, eerily calm to him, as he threw your bags, all your birthing things into the car, carefully helping you in. "Fuck!" Carmen huffed, hitting his horn for the third time in five minutes.
You gripped the side of the door, trying to breathe like your birthing coach taught you. "Carmy, please." You sighed, regulating your own heart rate. "Stop honking at people before we get shot."
"I'm just... Fuck, you know you think these fuckers would see hazard lights on and move, but everyone's so goddam stupid-"
"Carmen," You grabbed his hand lightly, thumb gliding over his inked fingers calmly. "Just relax. I haven't even really started having contractions, ok? We'll have time." How was it you were in labor and you were the one comforting Carmen? He felt like a jagoff, could practically hear Mikey and Richie's chorusing voices calling him that.
"I'm sorry." Carmen muttered, slumping back into the seat. "I'm just... I'm really fuckin' scared." His knee bounced, hand twitching towards the Spirit's in the center console. It was muscle memory, to reach for the cigarettes when he was anxious. He chose the gum instead, trying his best to cut back for when the baby was here. In case she'd have asthma or something else, and he just didn't want to teach her bad habits.
He wanted to be better. Be better.
Sometimes he wondered if his parents ever had ambitions like that. To be better, do better for their kids. If they did, they didn't stick.
"I know you are." You cooed lightly, running a hand through his damp curls, sweat accumulating at his hair line already. "You're gonna be a good dad, you know that?"
"I hope," Carmen smacked the gum with a shake of his head.
"I know." You beamed at him. "You already do so much for her anyways, and she's not even here, Carmy." He didn't say anything, just kept a white knuckled grip on the wheel, his free holding your hand.
"The only thing you'll be bad at is saying no to her, Carm. I already know that. You're too much of a softy." You giggled, poking him lightly in his bicep.
Carmen's lips twitched, the hints of a smile on his lips. You could feel the wave of a contraction, not overwhelming but uncomfortable, squeezing Carmen's hand lightly, shifting in pain. "What? Are you ok? You good?" Carmen's eyes darted from you to the road.
"Just a little contraction. I'm fine." You sighed gently, rubbing your free hand over the spot you could feel Teddy kicking. "They're still pretty spaced out, so we've got a while."
Carmen let out a shuddered breath, lips quipping in a smile. "She's takin' her time, already? We're doomed. She's gonna be just like her Mama. Late for everything."
You gasped, hitting his shoulder lightly. "And here I was being nice to you!" You bit back a smile. "I am not late for everything. I'm on time for the important stuff. Just late for the things I don't want to go to."
"Signing our marriage license?" Carmen lifted a brow. "You didn't want to do that-"
"-No, no, no! You dressed up and I looked like a bum, so I had to get ready!" You countered lightly, jabbing a finger at him.
"I didn't dress up! I wore jeans-"
"-And a nice button down. Not a t-shirt? That's dressing up, Carm, and you know it." You frowned at him. "I had a pair of bike shorts on."
"And you looked hot in them." Carmen grinned, eyes glinting when he looked at you, making you blush, heat rushing to your cheeks and chest. Your own nerves settling, your own what-ifs and fears of giving birth, of being a mother in general.
"Looked better in the dress." Carmen added, lifting your hand to kiss the back of your knuckles. You rolled your eyes lightly, heart fluttering. The white sundress you'd put on, patterned with a floral print but the only white dress you owned, and Carmen had swooned. Flipped it up and fucked you in the back seat after you'd signed it.
"Surprised I didn't get pregnant after that." You grinned, breath hitching at another contraction, dull but stronger this time.
Carmen's eyes cut to yours, thumb running over your knuckles at the pressure. "Can't believe we're having a baby." Carmen muttered, flicking on the turn signal, the hospital in sight.

My Default's Self-Destruct (Oh, I'm Not Used to Normal)
@nburkhardt, this ones for you, since you've been so excited and patient! Title from Jillian Rossi's Not Used to Normal.
-
There is a doctor in his room, explaining the extent of his injuries to him and his uncle but Eddie quit listening when the doctor had started with it's our recommendation that he not start back on the scent blocker until-. Whatever the doc had to say after that was more for Wayne's benefit than his own, anyway. Eddie turns his face away from Uncle Wayne and the doc and stares at the wall.
Eddie knows he's a freak.
He never had an option to be anything else.
He was born wrong, a thing his dad would remind him of every time he was deep in his cups and feeling angry or bitter. Which is to say, he'd heard it every day until he was fourteen and, with his mom long gone and his dad's new prison sentence, he was shipped off to Hawkins, Indiana to live with his uncle.
It gave him a choice for the first time in his life.
It was salvation.
No one here knew a damn thing about him except what he wanted them to know. He got to curate his image exactly how he wanted it.
Loud, bold, mean, scary.
Anything that kept people at a distance because he wanted them to be. That's not to say he didn't let people get close. That he didn't have friends. He does.
He founded Hellfire sophomore year and made acquaintances with fellow nerds and geeks. Some stuck around, genuinely seemed to like him and he them, so he got some real friends out of it. Jeff, Frankie, and Gareth.
The only three people in the world who knew about him because he'd chosen to tell them.
But now with this doctor not wanting him to get back on his scent blockers as soon as possible, the whole town's going to know how much of a freak he really is.
His gut twists thinking about how Erica, Lucas, Max, Dustin, Nancy, Robin, and Steve already know. They have to know. Why else are they not here? There's no way they don't by now. Scent blockers need to be taken every day to work effectively. Missing a day every now and then is fine when Eddie knows he's not going to leave home or if it's just the guys he'd be seeing.
But he's missed sixteen days because today is April 7th, and he'd spent most of the prior three days fading in and out of consciousness trying to claw his way out of a coma. Now he's fully alert and aware. He'd woken up alone, but it wasn't long after that his uncle showed up, apparently summoned by a nurse.
"-ddie. Eddie, you still awake?" Wayne's voice is gentle in a way it never usually it. It makes Eddie want to pretend to be asleep.
"Yeah."
"The doc just left."
Eddie doesn't respond verbally. but he does turn his head back to look at Wayne instead of the wall.
"There's a boy down in the lobby. Been tryin' ta visit every day but, well," Wayne trails off with a one shoulder shrug, which seems the easier way to sum up all the events that place while he was in a coma. Wayne apparently making a fuss when the hospital finally got a hold of him and he'd come into Eddie's room to find his unconscious body handcuffed to the bed. No one's been around to explain the how or why to Eddie, but supposedly ten days after Eddie should have died, three days before he awoke for the first time, the "real" murderer was found and died in a gunfight with the police. Eddie's been pardoned, by some miracle.
"Why wasn't he allowed to visit?" Eddie asks, even as he dreads the answer.
"No visitor for murder suspects except family," Wayne says.
"Okay. But I was proven innocent six days ago."
"I know. This last week's been me. I told the staff no one but me could see ya until ya were awake enough to name 'em. Didn't know if that boy who led the manhunt was gonna try and get in, or send someone else after ya."
Warmth floods through Eddie then, both affection for his uncle and a hope that, maybe, no one's been here because they haven't been allowed to be. Maybe they don't- maybe they'll give him a chance even though he's a genetic freak of nature.
"Is it Dustin Henderson?"
"Nah, ain't him. He's been by as much as his ma will allow, though. Sits down there with the first boy."
If it's not Dustin then- "Steve?"
Wayne gives a one-sided grin before saying, "Steve Harrington Sir, if you wanna full name him."
That gets a laugh from Eddie. Wayne hates to be called sir, and he spent a full year calling Jeff 'Just Jeff Sir' when Jeff had made the mistake of correcting Eddie's introduction ("And this here, is Jeffery") while trying to be polite ("Please, it's just Jeff, sir."). Seems like Steve made the same mistake.
"Oh, fuck, don't make me laugh," Eddie wheezes, more from pain than laughter and Wayne looks only a little guilty for causing him pain. "But, uh, yeah. Steve's a-okay."
"Alright. I'll go let the nurse know. Anyone else you wan' ta come see ya?"
"Wait," Eddie says quickly, swallowing thickly. He has to know. "Do- have they... said anything? About me?"
"About you? What- oh," Wayne says. "Did they not know?"
Eddie shakes his head. "No. Not- I didn't tell them, but I haven't had a scent blocker since the first day of spring break. They have to know, right? Everyone always knows."
"Do you want me to ask before gettin' them approved to visit?" Wayne asks, softly and sincere and it makes Eddie's eyes water. He closes them to prevent the tears.
"No. It's fine. Better to, uhh, get this over with. Learn if this will change anything, y'know?"
"And you wanna start with Steve Harrington Sir? He's an alpha, ain't he?"
"Don't act like you don't already know. Everyone and their mother talks about how alpha he smells. I heard about Steve and his alpha scent before I'd even met the dude."
"Well, no need to be so uppity about it," Wayne grouses.
"Sorry. Guess I'm just... not in the mood to joke about this. People don't- they change how they treat me, once they know."
"Just Jeff didn't, nor Gareth or Frankie."
"Yeah, but they were my friends first. I- they saved my life but that doesn't make us friends."
Wayne shakes his head. "You tell that to the boy sittin' in the lobby right now waitin' to see ya."
That's right. The hope that has bloomed earlier. If they did know, they were still around. Either because they are his friends and they care, or they have... questions, possibly. Still, "You'll be in here? When he comes in?"
"I won't leave unless you ask me to," Wayne assures and then he's gone. Out the door, to retrieve Steve.
Jesus Christ, this is fucked. Eddie feels so anxious and scared and he shouldn't. He's never been afraid before. Just. Fed up with how people treat him. How they scrunch their noses when they smell him. When they look at the whole of him and realize there's something wrong with him and their expression changes to either pity or disgust.
Wayne's gone just long enough for Eddie to regret his decision but then it's too late. The first person to enter his room is Steve, followed closely why Wayne.
"Eddie!" Steve says, and Eddie is confused. Steve sounds... awed? A bit breathless like he's witnessed a miracle.
"Hey Steve," Eddie manages to squeak out and that's all the permission Steve seems to need. He crosses the room quickly, dragging a second chair from the corner with him to the opposite side of the bed from where Wayne has taken up station.
"Fuck, Eddie, we didn't know if you'd- but you did. You're awake," Steve says, even as he's trying to sniff the air. Probably trying to get a read on Eddie's own scent, and therefore his own emotional state. When Steve doesn't find what he's looking for, his brows furrow into confusion, and he looks so fucking adorable with his face scrunched like that. He's glad Steve can't smell that on him, at least.
"I'm awake," Eddie says.
Steve nods, but his confused face doesn't fade. Instead he sniffs the room more loudly, thoroughly. He looks to Wayne, then back to Eddie. He does that a few times before settling on Eddie.
Eddie sighs heavily. "Go ahead. Ask."
"What? Oh, uh, nothing to ask, I guess. Just thought Wayne would have scented you by now, but I don't smell him on you."
"Yeah. Wayne's nose barely works, so no point in that."
"A fact I'm thankful for every time you'd finally drag out the days old dishes from your room," Wayne quips.
"Hey!" Eddie shoots him a wounded look as his face gets hot. Low blow, old man, he thinks.
"Oh. Do you... not get isolation sickness? Is that rude to ask?" Steve asks.
"I don't get isolation sickness anymore, not since long before you were even born," Wayne answers. He's still hovering by the door, expecting to be dismissed by Eddie probably, since Steve's not- since Steve doesn't seem to- Eddie doesn't know. Is he too nice to ask out right? Too disturbed by it to even bring it up?
"And, uh, isolation sickness could never effect me," Eddie says, biting the bullet, looking at a wrinkle on his blanket instead of at Steve.
"What?" Steve sounds startled by the answer, as if he can't understand. Maybe he doesn't.
"I can't get isolation sickness."
"That doesn't- everyone but childr-" Steve cuts himself off, and Eddie hears more sniffing before his startled by Steve grabbing his arm. He looks up quickly, and sees Wayne move closer from the corner of his eye, as Steve shoves his nose into Eddie's wrist and takes a deep breath. A sound between a whimper and a whine comes from Steve. "But you- What?"
"Steve."
"Eddie, I don't understand?"
Eddie looks to Wayne, who raises his brows as if to ask want me to tell him? He almost nods, but this is going to be the first of many conversations, and he might as well get the practice in. "Steve. You can only get isolation sickness after your secondary gender develops. I can't. 'Cause I don't have a secondary gender."
Steve blinks at him. Then blinks some more. He opens his mouth, then closes it and blinks even more. "I- how- what? It hasn't developed yet?"
Eddie groans in frustration. "No, Steve. It won't develop ever. I don't have one, I won't have one! No scent gland will ever grow, no second puberty as my body changes to be able to send and receive emotional signals, no bonding gland to establish pack or mate!"
"Wha-"
"Don't! What aren't you getting? I'm a genetic fucking freak of nature who can't ever bond with pack or a mate because I don't have a secondary gender!"
Steve jerks back at Eddie's sudden outburst, "Sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't- I wasn't trying to, uhh, offend."
Eddie scoffs and looks away. He wants to roll onto his side, put his back to Steve and block him out. Offend. Eddie's not offended. He's- fuck, he's sad and scared and angry. Because he spent a week flirting freely with Steve, who'd started to flirt back and now it's all back to just being a fantasy in Eddie's mind.
Steve's an alpha. Even if... even if he ever might have entertained the idea of being with Eddie, that's going to be gone now. Alpha's want omega's. They'll settle for a beta, sure, but that's what it is. Settling.
And Eddie's not even that.
He's nothing. No secondary gender, no place in society, he'll always smell like a goddamn child to everyone else. He knows how this goes. Until he's back on the scent blockers, which just make him smell like chemicals, they're going to treat him like a child, or like a pariah.
"Eddie-" Steve says, quiet.
Whatever it is, Eddie doesn't want to hear it. "I'm tired. I hurt. Please leave."
Eddie stares at a spot on the wall as Wayne escorts Steve from his room. He doesn't let himself cry until after counting to thirty in his head once the door's closed.

haunted
Tumblr media
Pairing: (Ex-Amber Freeman x Ex-Fem!Reader, Fem!Reader x Ethan Landry)
Content Includes: (Angst, fluff)
Main Masterlist
Her mouth was stained with a taste of metallic. Her vision was blurred, everything tinted by a bright white light, but she knew what was happening. Her father was dead, staring coldly at her as he laid on the white tiles of the hospital. Was all of this for nothing? All those years of fighting not only for himself, but for his daughter. All those years of winning those battles against Ghostface. All of the sacrifices he gave, it was taken away by a simple kitchen knife. Taken away by her.
Amber Freeman. The one who finally got Dewey. The one who haunted Y/N’s dreams, and the one who haunted her nightmares. Tonight was a nightmare.
She knew she was dreaming, she knew it. But the way Amber pulled off her mask as she laid there bloody, it hurt just as much as it did that day.
“Please, Amber,” she pleaded in pain. Blood spewed out of the freshly cut wound on her chest. “I love you.”
Amber looked coldly down at her, and at that moment, Y/N realized. Realized all of it was fake. All of the words and kisses Amber gave her; none of it was real. She wished she could apologize to her dad, she wished she could tell him how much she loved and appreciated him. She never did that. And now she never could.
She prepared herself for the knife to sink into her side. She knew the routine by now, it was like clockwork. It would hurt, it would feel real, but every time, Amber would kiss her. And maybe, just maybe, that made up for the pain.
The knife sunk into her stomach, and she arched up as she screamed in pain. Amber kissed her, just as she anticipated. Her vision started to grow black, like spilled ink staining a painting. Amber was a painting to her. Her beautiful work of art she loved looking at, even if Amber wanted to hurt her.
Then, she awoke.
First she shot up, then she breathed heavily. Her breaths were sharp and quick, and her hand went to her chest as she felt it tighten. Ethan stirred as she started to cry.
His eyes fluttered open as he looked to the source of noise. His eyes widened, and he immediately sat up to wrap his arms around her.
“Shhh it’s okay, I’m here,” He whispered.
She turned her head to look at him, and all she focused on were his eyes. Dark, brown like hers. She hated how sometimes she would get so lost in his eyes, she would think of Amber’s eyes. How they darkened as she looked down at her in excitement.
“It’s just me,” he said. It was just him. There wasn’t any evil in his eyes
She only let out a choked sob, and Ethan moved her head to rest on his chest. He pulled her to curl in his lap, her legs pulled up to her chest as he cradled her.
“You're okay, I've got you.”
She steadied her breaths. Don’t think of her, think of him.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized. This was the fourth time this week. He shook his head and shushed her. He kissed the crown of her head and started humming her favorite song. The same song Dewey sang to her when she was little.
“I miss him.” She whispered under her breath.
“I know.” He whispered back.
She didn’t know how many more nights of these she could take. She knew Ethan would leave her soon, that he would grow tired of this.
“I’m sorry for waking you, again.”
“It’s okay,” He cooed, playing with her hair. “It’s not a bother. I just want you to be okay. I love you.”
She looked up at him, eyes glossy. She opened her mouth to respond. To tell him she loved him too.
“You don’t have to say it. I know it’s hard for you.”
She let her head move against his chest as he breathed. They sat in a blissful silence in each other’s arms. Her nose whistled as she breathed softly, and Ethan smiled down at her. He was the only thing that made her feel happy. He protected her, just like Dewey did.
“You know,” Ethan started as he wiped a tear from the corner of her eye. “The moment Chad pointed you out at that party, I knew I was done for. I knew that you were the one for me, and I didn’t need to look for that perfect girl anymore.”
“Ethan,” she choked out.
“Let me finish,” he gently interrupted her. “I knew what happened to you last year. Chad told me that he’d kill me if I hurt you, but I knew you could do that yourself. You’re so strong, Y/N. You’re stronger than anyone I’ve ever met. You are so much more than what happened to you that night, so much more than her. She wasn’t good enough for you, and even if she was she didn’t deserve you. No one does, because you are perfect. I love you. I love you with everything I have.”
She grabbed his hand, and she placed it over her heart. I love you too.
He kissed her. He kissed her so many times that she forgot about her dream. And for the first time in a long time, she didn’t feel bad about her father’s death.
That night, Amber wasn’t in her dreams. Only Ethan.

Request for non-yandere version of you are ours (Tonowari x FEM! reader x Ronal) please.
Coming right up! I hope you like this! It starts like the other one, but has a few changes.
For anyone interested, here is the yandere version
You are ours (Tonowari x Fem! Reader x Ronal)
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/n was a normal Metkayina fisher until certain couple laid their eyes on her. You were already mated or so you thought.
Content warnings: English Isn’t my first language and this hasn’t been proofread yet. For the sake of the fic, your mate’s name is Upxa.
General warnings: jealously, breaking up with your soon to be mate because he is a stupid asshole, angst, comforting reader, Ronal and Tonowari being there for you.
[ 3rd person POV ]
Y/n was quietly cleaning her fishing tools, she had caught a bunch fish and she felt proud of herself. She straightened her posture when she saw Tonowari walking close to where the fishers were. He was looking closely at their catch.
[ Y/n’s POV ]
“Hey, I haven’t seen you around before” Tonowari greeted me. “I am Y/n” I greeted back, shyness getting the best of me. He smiled fondly. “You seem like the best fisher around. Why haven’t I seen you before?” He questioned me.
“Usually Upxa is waiting for me, I leave my catch here for the rest of the clan and go to him. He always has something for me to eat” I said. Tonowari’s expression darkened a little bit. I gave him a questioning look.
“Who is Upxa?” He faked a smile. “My future mate, we will mate before Eywa in a month” I responded, I got nervous because he was acting weirdly and he was awfully close. He clicked his tongue. “Nice”. The conversation died there.
I went to Upxa right away and told him about it. He felt weird and that night didn’t come down to the comunal dinner. I sat between some of my friends, feeling someone’s gaze all over me, piercing through me.
The next day I was met with a strange feeling, like something was going to go wrong that day.
I was greeted by the same people and did the same routine, but something was off. Tsireya came to me with a playful smile. “My dad… I mean, the chief wants to talk with you”. She said to me.
I walked towards Tonowari’s and Ronal’s marui pod. I saw the couple sitting there, simply talking with each other as Ao’nung played with a few fishing tools before choosing one.
Ronal fake coughed, making Ao’nung notice the scene and leave. “Y/n, it is nice to finally meet you” the Tsa’hìk says with a smile. “We would like to accompany you in your day today” Tonowari smiled.
“What would I do?” Y/n asked. “Just show us your technique so we will learn how to fish like you” the chief. I smiled brightly, missing the soft blush that tinted their cheeks.
For the day, a showed them my ways and had fun. I couldn’t believe Ronal and Tonowari were this fun to be around. Tonowari seems like the calm tree that never moves more than its necessary, but instead he is a jokester. And Ronal, oh, she is a fierce but she still has a bright smile whenever she is in a good mood.
I had so much fun that I didn’t see Upxa in the sore looking angry.
That night, I went down to the comunal dinner, being asked to sit but the Olo’eyktan and the Tsa’hìk. A great honor.
Upxa didn’t show up.
[ 3rd Person POV ]
Tonowari and Ronal smiled to themselves, they loved the idea of not having to see your soon to be mate. Just one day, only ONE day and they had found the missing piece to their union.
After the dinner, everyone went home and Y/n found Upxa really upset. “So that is what you do now?” Upxa asked, the anger slipping off his tone.
“What?” Y/n was dumbfounded. “Don’t try to look innocent, why were you on a date with Tonowari and Ronal? I know they are our Olo’eyktan and Tsa’hìk but no need to get touchy” he sounded really mad, venom in his voice.
“I didn’t mean that, we were just having fun” she responded. He blamed her “I am the Na’vi our people will make fun of, being cheated on before getting mated. Just my luck, I should have chosen Ka’it (female Na’vi name).” He sounded angry.
“At least she wouldn’t have been caught”.
“If she is so amazing, go off with her then! I won’t get mated before Eywa with a dumbass like you! Never letting me explain, controlling wether or not I talked to the other fishers and now that I am making friends you act like this” Y/n exploded into a verbal bomb.
“They are not friendly, Y/n! They were flirting with you!” He said, “if you don’t want to see it, then we won’t be together anymore” Upxa said before running away from the Marui.
Y/n felt to the ground crying. How could she tell her parents (Metkayina from another island) that she had lost her soon to be mate. Soft steps woke her from her self-pity drowning. “Hey, we heard what happened, can we come in?” Tonowari’s soft voice said. Y/n let out a soft yes before both na’vis entre red the Marui pod and kneeled at both of her sides.
“Don’t cry, a strong woman kiko you should not wasted her tears in useless peopl” Ronal said, drying her tears with a soft cloth. “You deserve way better” Tonowari said, kissing the crown of her head.
“You deserve to be ours, to let us pamper you, take care of you and love you” Ronal said. “ you bright yo a room just by smiling and being with you one day has made us feel your connection” Tonowari said.
“Eywa has lead us to you”

“Where’s the kid.”
A stoic voice matched with an even more intimidating stance—the medic did not need to turn around to know it was Simon Riley (or Ghost, as he liked to be called) talking behind him. He calmly turned around to face the sudden speaker, and his brows raised. Despite barely healing from severe unattended injuries and dehydration, Ghost remained tall and demanding; nobody should expect anything less from him.
“Where’s the kid.” Ghost said again when he did not receive an answer promptly enough. He enunciated every word with gruff but no grit. It could be the hazy brain taking a small toll on him. He did remember the other medic recommending a timely rest that he had no plan to take. Until he could find you, that was.
The medic looked around the area, massively confused. Kid? What kid? Has Simon Riley finally lost his goddamn mind after being stranded in the desert for weeks without the proper nourishment? He was almost killed, after all! The only reason he managed to make it back was that whoever tried to kill him foolishly thought he died. Could this possibly be the side effect of the recent traumatic experience? Having hallucinations?
“Fucking hell, where’s my kid?” That sounded like a question this time around. His voice had more restlessness in it, if one couldn’t fathom him ever being frantic about anything. Ghost had taken a step forward, his hands curled into fists, and his gaze hardened to scare the answer out of an unassuming medic. “The kid that came here with me. They are about this tall. Dirty hair, really fucking chatty? You could not have missed them.”
The medic cowered a step back. Ghost has finally lost his mind this time because he has no idea what nonsense that was. Humming in thoughts in hopes to fill the silent air, the medic glanced to the side just outside the tent, hoping to see someone pass by that could help him with the delusional lunatic asking him such an unfathomable question. A child? Everyone would have known if there was a child running around this place!
Ghost could see the altered glance immediately, and for a moment, he was about to lose his temper. But, he found that his question was answered as soon as he gave the medic a chance and turned around to look over his shoulder. There you were, just standing outside the tent in your dirty clothes and bare feet, staring at the helicopter with genuine fascination. Ghost furrowed his brows in disdain after he scanned your appearance. How come nobody gave you a change of clothes?
Wordlessly, Ghost turned around and left the medic’s tent. He marched over to where you stood, coming up behind you silently until he was finally within arm’s reach. He grabbed a fistful of the collar of your shirt and pulled you off the ground, causing you to struggle with a yelp of surprise. He turned you around slowly to face him, and his deadpan eyes did not change when you smiled sheepishly upon recognizing him.
“Oh…” you rubbed your hands together apologetically and placed them near your chin in a prayer gesture, “I didn’t know you were awake.”
“I barely slept, you idiot,” he said as he carefully dropped you on the ground. “I told you not to run around by yourself.”
You scoffed at him, dusting off your clothes as if you had fallen and gotten back up without his help. “I thought this was supposed to be a safe place!”
“It is,” he clarified calmly. “But safe places can get invaded.”
“So it’s not safe,” you pointed out smugly, poking his arm as if you’ve made a point he cannot defend himself against. The only response you got was a flick on your forehead. His fingers sounded against your skull, the force strong enough to make you stumble back before he watched you gather yourself together again.
Ghost did not once tear his eyes off you. His cold heart froze over again with paranoia when his brain even raised the idea of looking elsewhere during the topic of potential danger.
This was supposed to be a safe place where the medics and his comrades were. This was where his most trusted fighters are. If an invasion was to happen, things could not go nearly as bad as if he was anywhere else. But, unfortunately, you were neither a medic who knew the risks of staying at a place like this, nor were you a trained soldier who knew how to protect yourself in a blazing war.
You were just a kid he found along the way, who had latched onto him for survival, and he had no reason to kill. Fortunately for you, he did not have to choose between you and himself during the early days of you following him in his travels. By the time danger did welcome you both in its arms, Ghost had, surprisingly, knocked down the impenetrable walls of putting himself above orders and logic. Or perhaps it was you who brought a hammer and knocked them down for him.
Who knew? Simon Riley was not an expert in human emotions; he feels them, he just never thinks about them. He knew things could go as wrong as Hell would allow it if an invasion did happen. He knew that it would have been over the second you were captured. But Ghost had no plan to let it happen ever again.
After that night, on the twentieth day of traveling. It was right after you both were offered some food by a suspicious group of travelers, whom Ghost later found out had sold information of your existence to a group of recruiters of a human trafficking ring. You were snatched away in his line of sight after you had strayed too far from him, and he has never been more enraged. Becaise you disobeyed him, and because people underestimated his ability to kill absolutely everyone in sight with his bare hands who even dared to take you from him.
Ghost had no plan to let something like that happen ever again. So, if an invasion happens, this will remain a safe place for you. Any perimeter where he exists will be a safe place for you as long as he can guarantee it.
“Hmph!” You pulled a face at him when he remained silent at your words. Crossing your arms before you, you looked up at him and scoffed, “All adults do is lie.”
“Do not frame me for something I never did,” Ghost retorted, his hands awkwardly placed at his hips because he did not know what else to do with them now that he wasn’t holding a weapon. He let them drop to his sides immediately, a dissatisfied groan leaving his lips. “I have never lied to you.”
You pursed your lips together into a knowing smirk, but your eyes spoke a story of annoyance. You clicked your tongue, giving him a mischievous shake of your head, then you began to hop on your spot to prepare yourself for landing. Ghost immediately rolled his eyes, mentally exhausted from your antics. He knew what you planned to do, and he remembered the ‘lie’ you implied he told you. He had no plans to indulge you in your self-assigned mission to take his mask off.
“Incoming!”
“Damn it–you cannot shout that here–hey!”
You jumped and immediately grabbed onto his strong arm. Your feet kicked against his shin for momentum, which barely gave you any, but you stepped on his leg to use as leverage to climb up his body, so all was well. He struggled against you as you grabbed onto his shoulders and hoisted yourself over one side of it, letting yourself dangle and threatening to fall face-first onto the ground. He clumsily—ha! as if!—placed a hand forward to catch your reckless self just in case, while his other hand pressed against your middle back to keep you on his shoulder.
This was not the first time you have climbed him like a tree, paying his physical boundaries no respect as you stepped and kicked against his body to reach his shoulders. But he found himself catching you whenever you decided to fling yourself to the ground like a carcass, and he found himself holding onto your ankles when you thought it would be fun to fling upside down on his back as he walked. It was never a good idea; you always ended up feeling nauseated, and you liked to blame the heinous smell of his sweat.
And you had made a habit of stacking your body atop his when you slept so you could feel all of his movements, and you would know if he ever tried to abandon you again. He had a sickening realization that he had not felt that familiar body weight in several nights.
“Hey! Listen to me!” Ghost whisper-yelled at you, but you paid no attention to him. “You cannot be yelling stupid things like that!”
You scoffed with a childish smile. “Don’t worry, Ghost! Nobody can hear me but you!”
“With that high-pitched screech, they can hear you all the way from the moon,” he said.
“Oh, that’s where I’m going next! To the moon!” You giggled as you raised your torso and slapped a hand to his face. However, interestingly, you did not attempt to peel his mask off. You only looked at the helicopter in front of you and pointed at it. “Maybe I can get there in a helicopter!”
“You need a rocket ship for that,” Ghost said as he slowly helped your sliding body off his shoulder and onto the ground.
“A helicopter can be a rocket ship if I wanted it to. This is my world now,” you mused as you looked up at him. Your smile shifted a little when you saw how he looked at you—stoic, cold, but not without kindness and, hidden somewhere, remorse he was unwilling to process. You frowned gently at him; Ghost was still delusional. “Do you remember what you promised me about your mask?”
“That I will take it off so you can see my face,” he replied.
You tilted your head and widened your smile slightly. Your brows furrowed with a sorrowful tint as you whispered, “That’s not all.”
Ghost could remember. He didn’t think he had ever forgotten anything important, and a promise with a child he had unknowingly bound himself to would never be abandoned by him. He just had a hard time acknowledging it—thinking about it was unsettling for him, almost like an eerie itch along his body he could not scratch off. He was being avoidant because he was so helpless about it.
“I promised you that I would take off my mask and let you see my face…” he repeated, and choking down the knot in his throat, he continued, “if that is the last thing you’ll ever see of me.”
You smiled. You knew he would remember.
“But that will not be until years later, so there is no bloody reason why you are bringing it up now,” he added urgently, even though his voice didn’t show it.
You played with your fingers, unsure of what you could say.
There was no way that could happen years later because you were already dead. And Ghost knew that because you died in his arms.
“You cannot dream for years, Ghost,” you whispered. “You have to wake up.”
Just like that, suddenly, everything was gone. The tents, the sky, the helicopter, the clouds, the guns and ammo, the wind—everything surrounding you were gone. You looked around at the scenery change; the dream was re-wiring itself according to Ghost’s memories and control, including yourself. The bloodied spot on your chest grew big and wet, and the sky was dark with visible stars, and there was the knife he had pulled out of you after someone threw it toward you as a last desperate attempt at revenge.
“I don’t like the blood stain.” You frowned at yourself.
“Okay.” It was gone.
Ghost stared at you, his emotions thoroughly mixed up. He has been through this before. He has undergone trauma before. This was nothing extraordinary, and it should not be. He understood it. Death, dying, trauma, killing, blood. He understood it all. He has been hurt, pierced, shot, tortured. He understood it all. His father’s cruelty, his father’s abusive hands, his father’s degeneracy. He understood it all.
But did he truly understand this?
Pain comes in various forms. Pain can stem from different causes. The explosion of a bullet inside his body or the blade across his flesh. He knew what it felt like to be hurt by the names in red, to be hurt by a father. But did he know how to fathom it when his pain landed on somebody else’s skin? Did he know what it was when his pain choked through him in the form of another’s lifeless body? Did he understand the agony that happens when a child that has bound themself to a parent, abandons them by death?
He experienced it, but he did not understand it.
“Please don’t be mad at me,” you muttered. “I tried to hold on, I did. But my chest hurt.”
“I am not mad at you. I won’t get mad over something you can’t control,” he said. “I should have protected you better.”
You jumped faintly, standing on your tip-toes and rocking your heels back and forth. “You did!” You cheered quietly. “You kept me safe all this time.”
“You died.”
“I did.” You frowned in feigning sorrow. “Bummer.”
Oh, but he did understand it. He understood it very well. The consequence of your death blatantly presented itself to him in this dream. You were a dream. Your being safe was a dream. Your being alive was a dream. You climbing him like a tree, you talking about getting on a helicopter and flying to the moon, you sleeping on him so he would not leave you, you talking back to him, you shouting in his ears—it was all a dream he struggled not to wake up from.
In here, he gets to keep the kid.
In here, he gets to keep you.
And he gets to take you to the moon on a helicopter that functions as a rocket ship. Because he wires his dream according to your childish desires. Because he will give you whatever you want. Because he had given himself the role of a father he never thought he would fill.
How did it feel when you died? Agonizing and staggering. Like he failed at a job he knew nothing about but was doing his best in. Like he was full of nothing but anger and guilt because everything that could ever happen to you directly links back to him, because you were his responsibility. Like someone reached between your ribs and found his heart there, and they ripped it to pieces and left the shards lying inside of you.
How did it feel when you died? Like a dad just lost his baby, and he remembered once again how cruel this world could be when innocent children cannot be above adult hatred and violence.
“I’m sorry,” he uttered. “I did all I could.”
You grinned as you approached him and took his hand. You took off his glove, pressed his palm to your face, and nuzzled against it, feeling the callousness of his skin that has held more death than life, more blood than skin. “You did for me. Thank you.”
He wished to caress your cheek, but his joints remained frozen. He wished to smile, but he found it hard to quirk his lips when he realized the dimming of his consciousness. Beneath the skull mask, he managed a light-hearted smirk, and, if one could fathom it, his gaze softened with unswayable care, curated by the one thing greater than human tragedy—love, supposed. But that would be too cliché, would it not? Besides, this is Simon Riley!
“Do you still wish to see my face?” Ghost asked, “I’m giving you a positive.”
You squinted your eyes joyfully at him, willing that he not be defined by the tragedies he endured and that his heart could remain soft. Perhaps if you put a little bit of yourself in him, he would.
“You made me a promise!” You said with a nod.
That he did.

It was an accident really, you're graduation night, the last year of Hogwarts. Draco's father was taken to Azkaban. He and his mother were left with the mansion, him being next in line to take the wealth. Draco and Narcissa were not necessarily loved by other wizards after all they had done, but they were left in peace. You followed your boyfriend to the manor, moving in with him and his mom after your family died fighting in the war.
You were shattered, never fully recovering from seeing loved ones killed in front of you, but Draco held you close when you'd awake in a sweat with heavy breaths just like you did for him. Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months. Draco had matured after everything but he and you hadn't been mature enough to use protection [not that you were against having kids] so you ended up getting pregnant with your daughter: Lavandula Narcissa Malfoy.
You named her Lavandula because you'd think of the field filled with the plant as something easy to rest in, pretty in smell, and calming. [And because lavender was taken by a witch that you didn't want your child in relation to.] Her middle name, after her grandmother because her love for the people she cared for always shined and you loved that about her. Your little girl was surprisingly what you both needed.
She brightened the place, gave it color and healed your broken heart after the loss. She was spoiled rotten by Draco, clearly a daddy's girl as she whined and cried for him. You were glad she got the comfort Draco gave you, protection and love. He'd wake quickly at night rocking her in his arms, Her head against his chest as her eyes fluttered back into her dreams. He'd kiss her and your forehead tucking you both in.
You'd always compliment him on how well he was as a dad since you knew that was something he strived to be and he never failed even as she grew older running through the house. He'd twirl her like a princess in a fairy tale, buy her things fit for a queen and read her to sleep till she'd sigh in peace. You almost cried watching your husband care for her.
He even made time to care for you the same, hovering over your shoulder in the mirror when you'd doubted yourself since you had new changes to your body after your daughter.
He'd smile gently, eyes sparkling like the day he saw you, kiss your neck, hands around your waist as he told you how beautiful you were. So all in all Draco Malfoy was an amazing father.

Do you remember the scene in the fourth book, where Draco is turned in to a ferret? Could you write something where the reader finds Draco, unaware that it's him and takes him to her dorm and he has to stay for the night? Like reader and Draco usually don't get along (maybe Gryffindor reader) but she talks with Hermione about him and everything. And when the reader wakes up the next morning it's not a ferret but Draco lying next to her and she gets super embarrassed? Would be great if you have an idea on how to write it.
Thanks for your request! I really hope that this makes some sense since I struggled with writing it in a way that it all sounds logical. Hope you like this anyway!
The ferret
“It is my very great pleasure to inform you that the Triwizard Tournament will be taking place at Hogwarts this year.”
Dumbledore´s words still echoed in your head. This had been the most amazing message in a very long time. You knew that this year would be amazing. Instead of hunting down giant snakes or supposed serial killers together with Harry, this year you would be able to lean back and watch someone else experience all the adventures. You on the other hand would watch the bustle from a safe distance. There was nothing that could go wrong this year, was there?
You walked along the long corridors with Hermione, Ron and Harry, chatting about the most obvious topic after that announcement.
“It´s unfair that no one under the age of seventeen is allowed to participate. I mean it´s not my fault I was born too late.”, Ron grumbled.
“There´s a reason for this rule Ron.”, Hermione explained for the tenth time. “It´s too dangerous. We aren´t educated enough to participate at the tournament. I´m sure that the challenges will be very demanding.”
“And besides.”, you added, “I don’t think we would stand a chance against the older ones. I heard Diggory and Warrington want to participate. They would have some lead anyway.” “Yeah, but imagine all the money… You could do so much with it….”, Ron´s voice sounded dreamy.
“Maybe your family could finally afford things that aren’t used already, Weaselbee.”, you heard a voice sneering behind you.
You rolled your eyes. Draco Malfoy somehow always managed to appear in the most adverse moments.
“Just ignore him.”, you mumbled, as you felt Ron tense next to you.
“Oh yeah, Weaselbee, listen to her. You´re probably too stupid to think for yourself. Lies within the family as my father has told me.”
Now, Hermione and you needed to grab Ron and Harry by their shoulders so they wouldn´t turn around right away and hex Malfoy in the middle of the hallway. Not that you would have resented. But Malfoy wasn’t worth a second of detention. And luckily Hermione thought the same.
“No one can tell me Malfoy wouldn’t take the chance to participate if he would have one.”, Hermione muttered.
“Obviously. Just another chance to give himself airs.”, you agreed with your friend. “Could you imagine Malfoy as our champion?”, Harry asked. “He wouldn’t even last ten seconds.”
“Dad told me some students had died in the tournament. Wouldn’t be a shame if this would happen to Malfoy though.” Ron´s face was still red, but he smiled at his cruel thoughts. “All the things that could happen to him…”
“He probably wouldn’t even dare to compete in the end.”, Hermione said.
“Or would give up as soon as he breaks off a fingernail.”, Harry laughed.
“His father would definitely hear about this.”, you chuckled, making all of you laugh.
Even though you would never admit it, you kinda missed the blond Slytherin boy over the summer holidays. Without his sneered remarks, life was way more boring. But all in all, you corrected yourself, you hadn’t missed Malfoy himself, but more the way you and your friends made fun of him. There was no other reason for you to miss him. Because you had never really liked that boy. And there was nothing that could change that.
It was your first actual day back at Hogwarts. Today, the classes had started again. Even though you had missed many things about school, homework wasn’t one of them. And after only one day, you had already loads of them. That´s why you were at dinner early, before returning to the library, to finish some of your assignments. You didn’t want to fall behind already. But not even two hours later, you felt your eyes getting heavy. With a sigh, you closed the book before you and put it back on the shelf. You saw Hermione a few desks away, delving into a book. You didn’t dare to talk to her, since you knew how much she hated it when you disturbed her while she was studying. Also, all you wanted to do by now, was get back to your dorm and in your bed.
As you walked through the already empty corridors, you suddenly heard some whimpering. You stopped and turned your head in different directions, trying to locate the noise. That´s when you saw it. A tiny white ferret crouched in one of the corners, cheeping pathetically. Carefully you took a few steps toward the pet. It was shaking frantically and its fur looked scrubby.
“Oh, you poor thing, what happened to you?”, you spoke up.
You had always had a soft spot for animals and to see that little thing that looked so beat up, made your heart clench. When the ferret saw you coming, it only crawled more into the corner, too exhausted to actually run away.
When you kneeled in front of it, the whimpering got only louder and the shivering more intense. It was obviously scared, but as far as you could see, it wasn’t hurt.
“What am I supposed to do with you?”, you asked the ferret, even though you didn’t expect an answer.
Slowly, you extended one arm and then with a quick movement you grabbed the ferret, picking it up. It squirmed, trying to escape your grip, but you were skilled in those things. Since you could remember you had always brought hurt animals home, driving first your parents and later your roommates crazy. But you didn’t care about their opinion and always fed the animals up, before releasing them into the wild again. After a few minutes, the ferret seemed to calm down, not trying to escape anymore.
“Are you hungry? We could take a look into the kitchen and ask if they got anything left. What do you think? And tomorrow we will take you to Hagrid. He will know what to do with you.”
With that, you changed your original plan to go directly to your dorm but headed towards the kitchen first.
You sat on your bed in your dorm, eying the ferret worried. The house-elves in the kitchen had given you some raw meat and water for your newest nursing case. But the ferret hadn’t touched the food yet. It had drunk the water as if it was dying of thirst, but its fur had bristled when you had tried to feed it with the raw meat. Instead, it seemed to be very interested in the chocolate on your nightstand. But this obviously wasn’t the best choice for a wild animal, so you refused to give some of it to it.
You were just trying to convince the ferret once more to try some of the raw liver, when Hermione entered the dorm. As she saw the animal on your lap, she scrunched her face.
“Once more (Y/n)?”
“I found it in the castle. Completely lost. But now it doesn’t want to eat.”
You looked at Hermione scared.
“Maybe its sick?”, your friend suggested.
She stepped closer to look at the ferret, but as she did so, it quickly got up, trying to get away from her. Luckily, you caught it, before it could disappear.
“I´ll get it to Hagrid tomorrow. He´ll know what to do.”
Hermione raised an eyebrow.
“Hagrid? He´s probably gonna feed it to some of his creatures.”
As if the ferret knew what she was saying, it squeaked indignantly. You put the meat aside and carefully caressed the fur of the ferret.
“Don’t worry, I´ll make sure he won´t. I just want to ask him if he has any idea what´s wrong with it. And when it´s fit again, I´m going to release it far away from Hagrid´s creatures and all the owls flying around here.” You glanced to Hermione´s bed, where Crookshanks was lying, eyes fixed on the small thing on your lap and licking its muzzle. “And cats.”, you added.
“Do you think it’s a pet?”, Hermione asked. “Maybe it belongs to one of the students. I mean it looks different from the ones roaming around outside of the castle. Just look at its fur. It´s so light, almost as if someone bleached it.”
You shrugged your shoulders.
“Maybe I should ask around tomorrow. But are ferrets allowed as pets?”
Now it was on Hermione to shrug her shoulders.
“I don’t think so. But I also don’t remember that it´s forbidden.”
“I´ll take care of it tomorrow.”, you yawned. “At first I need some sleep.”
You looked at the ferret.
“You too, don’t you?”
Once again, it seemed as if the ferret understood what you were saying since it got up from your lap and tripled over your bed, straight to your pillow and curled up right in the middle of it. You laughed.
“I´ll take this as a yes.”
After you had gone to the bathroom, you grabbed your pyjamas, starting to change your clothes. You couldn’t help but feel as if the ferret that was still curled up on your pillow watched each of your movements closely, probably only waiting for you to open a door or a window, giving it a chance to escape.
Hermione, who was already laying in bed, put her book aside.
“By the way, have you heard what happened in the Great Hall at dinner?”
You shook your head. When you had been there, most of the students hadn’t arrived yet and after dinner, you had only been in the library and the kitchen.
“Padma Patil had just told me. I met her on my way back here. Apparently, Professor Moody had hexed Malfoy.”
Hermione chuckled and you stared at her in disbelieve.
“He did what?”
“Hexed Malfoy. Padma hasn’t seen what had happened, but Parvati had told her. Apparently, Malfoy had disputed with Ron and Harry. And when Harry turned his back, Malfoy wanted to hex him. But Professor Moody was faster.”
You laughed.
“What did he do?”
“Transfigured him into a rat, Padma told me. But she wasn’t sure about that. Parvati had only seen him running down the hallway afterwards.”
“And did he turn him back?”
Hermione shrugged her shoulders.
“I think so. Professor McGonagall was there too. She was certainly furious. Don’t think she appreciated this. But even if he didn’t, transfigurations of humans only last for a few hours.”
“Poor Moody, It takes some time until Professor McGonagall loses it, but if she does, I don’t want to be near. He´s lucky if he doesn’t get hexed himself.”, you chuckled.
“And she´s right. Transfiguration shouldn’t be used as a punishment.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“Even if it´s Malfoy?”
“Even if it´s Malfoy.”, Hermione confirmed.
But then she chuckled.
“But I would have loved to see this nevertheless.”, she grinned.
You laughed.
“Me too. We have to ask Harry and Ron about it tomorrow immediately. I need a detailed report.”
“Do you think Malfoy will let this matter rest?”, Hermione said, now a little bit more serious.
You shrugged your shoulders.
“What does he want to do? And besides, he´s probably way too scared of Moody. Kind of understandable, I guess.”
“Probably his father will hear about it.”, Hermione chuckled, making you grin.
You let yourself fall onto your bed and tried to shove the ferret on your pillow to the side, but it squeaked in protest, trying to defend its cosy position. You sighted.
“You are just like Malfoy, you know that? You could be kinda cute if you wouldn’t be so annoying. Also, now that I think about it, your hair looks very similar.”
“I´m sure I misheard this (Y/n). Did you just call Malfoy cute?”, Hermione said in a mocking voice.
You felt your cheeks redden. You hadn’t thought about what you had just said. Not that you actually thought Malfoy was cute. You didn’t like him. At all. But you also had to admit that besides his many bad qualities, he also had some good ones. Not only he was good-looking and an amazing Quidditch player, he was also very smart -his grades could nearly keep up with Hermione´s- and of it wouldn’t be against you, your friends and your house, his humour could actually be funny.
“I said he could be cute.”, you corrected your friend, as you snuggled yourself under the warm blanket. “If he wouldn’t be such a pain in the ass.”
Hermione rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, but he´s one all the time. And besides, tell me one good thing about him.”
“I don’t know. He´s clever, he´s a great seeker, he´s always good for a laugh- even if it´s unintentionally most of the time-, he´s got beautiful eyes…” You stopped when you saw Hermione´s gaze. “And he´s originated from a family full of people who would judge me for being friends with you and not thinking I´m something better since I´m a pureblood.”
The last sentence you said in a stilted voice, making Hermione laugh.
“I was actually worried about you for a moment (Y/n). I would have taken you for the last person to defend Malfoy.”
“I didn’t defend him. I just made some objective observations. I mean even you can’t deny that he´s grown attractive over the holidays, don’t you?”
“You don’t expect me to answer this, do you?”, Hermione asked.
“Relax, I´m just joking.”, you calmed your friend down. “And no matter how good-looking or smart he might be, that doesn’t matter if he stays the idiot he is.”
But as you turned off the lights and lay there in the silence, you came to the conclusion that even if you had said those things to annoy Hermione, they weren’t completely untrue. Draco Malfoy was for sure handsome and you had to admit that you might be missing something in your life without his constant teasing. But as long as he stayed the spoiled brat he was, your feelings towards the Slytherin boy wouldn’t change a bit.
That´s what you thought as you drifted off into sleep. And as you did so, you felt the tiny ferret next to you carefully cuddling itself into the crook of your neck.
Your alarm woke you up rudely the next morning. With a switch of your wand, you quickly turned off the annoying noise. You heard Hermione growling in the bed next to your quietly. The first days after the holidays were always the worst. You didn’t dare to open your eyes yet, trying to prevent your sweet dreams from slipping away completely. You felt the source of warmth next to you and turned around to nuzzle your face into it. You inhaled the comforting smell of expensive cologne and pines and listened to the steady heartbeat, just as calm as yours. You felt an arm wrapping around you and sighted in comfort. You could have lied here like this forever. You felt as if you were protected from all the harm out there. As if everything was just fine, even if it was just for this moment. You couldn’t remember a morning neither in school nor at home, where you had felt that good. And the reason for this feeling was the person right next to you, who now pulled you even closer, so your head could lay on their chest. Why hadn’t you felt like this earlier?
Because normally, no one was lying next to you. Within seconds you sat up, now fully awake. The room was still dark, but you could clearly see the contours of someone lying next to you. In your bed. Someone who hadn’t been there when you had fallen asleep. You screamed loudly, grabbing the blanket to cover yourself, crawling to the end of the bed, to get as much distance between the person and you. Rising up, as they heard your scream, the person screamed as well in a high-pitched voice, trying to grab the blanket as well, but you were still clinging on to it.
“What the hell is going on here?”, you heard the sleepy voice of Hermione.
With a switch of her wand, she opened the curtains, making the sunlight fall into your room.
You stared at the person on your bed in disbelief.
“Malfoy? What? How? Why? What are you doing here? How did you come in?”, you stuttered, as you recovered from the shock.
“Asks the person who brought me here.”, Malfoy muttered, his cheeks were red, but probably nothing compared to how much your face had heated up.
“What? How could I… No, why should I bring you here? Are you kidding me?”, you asked, feeling the anger boiling up in you.
Was that some kind of cruel joke? How dared he sneak to your dorm and into your bed and blame you for it?
“If you would stop being such a do-gooder, you may not drag innocent people into your dorm, who had been cursed and aren’t able to defend themselves.”, he snapped back.
“What?”
“The ferret.”, you heard Hermione´s voice from the other side of the room.
You stared at her in disbelief.
“The ferret?”
“Remember? Professor Moody had hexed Malfoy. It wasn’t a rat. It was a ferret.”
“Sometimes even you have some bright moments, Granger.”, Malfoy sneered.
“Wait, wait, wait, let me get this straight.”, you said, before Hermione could reply something unfriendly. “You were the ferret I found yesterday in the corridor?”
Malfoy nodded.
“Why didn’t you say something?”
Malfoy rolled his eyes.
“Well, you aren’t that bright, are you (Y/l/n)? How could I? I´ve been a ferret.”
“But you could have done something. Anything. To make us notice. By Merlin´s beard. You slept in my bed. You heard how Hermione and I talked about… Oh good lord, I even changed in front of you.”
You hid your face in your hands in embarrassment. Malfoy grinned cockily.
“Not that I would have minded.”
“I think that´s my cue. I´ll get ready somewhere else. See you at breakfast.”, Hermione said, before grabbing her things and opening the door.
“Wait. How do we get him out of here?”, you held her back.
But Hermione just shrugged her shoulders.
“Down the stairs and through the common room.” “How are we going to explain that?”
“I won´t have to, you brought him here, you will get him out.”, Hermione grinned, obviously enjoying your desperation.
“Mione.”, you whined.
“I´ll think of something (Y/n) how I´ll get the other out of here. But first I´ll get ready and unlike you, I don’t want Malfoy watching me.”
She quickly closed the door behind her and the pillow you had thrown into her direction only hit the wood.
“Great friends you have.”, Draco rumbled.
“Says the boy, who was not in his dorm for an entire night and no one noticed.”, you countered. “Now just get out of here, this is more than embarrassing.”
But Draco just grinned at you and laid back again.
“What part exactly love? That you slept in the same bed with me? Or that I saw you in your -by the way really adorable- underwear? Or that I heard every single thing Granger and you talked about the last evening?” With each of his words, you felt your face redden more and more until you feared you might burst into flames right away. You grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around your body, crossing your arms in front of your chest.
“You were neither supposed to hear nor see any of these things. If someone should be embarrassed, then it´s you.”
But Malfoy looked at you unimpressed.
“I´m the victim. I was hexed by a professor and then kidnapped by you.”
You laughed in disbelief.
“Kidnapped? I wanted to help you. Well, not you, the ferret. I mean, you are… You were the ferret. But I didn’t know…”
“But you also can´t blame me though, can you?”
You clenched your jaw. He was right. You couldn’t.
“Well, if it was so horrible here, you might as well leave now.”, you snapped.
Slowly Draco sat up and looked at you. His gaze grew more intense and made shivers run down your spine. Unintentionally, you wrapped the blanket tighter around your body.
“I never said it was horrible though. Well, except the food.”
He scrunched his nose. You let out a small giggle at the thought that you actually wanted to feed the spoiled Draco Malfoy with the residues from the kitchen. Malfoy looked at you pleasantly surprised as he heard your laugh.
“Well, sorry about that.”, you chuckled.
“I´m sure if I would have been an actual ferret, I would have enjoyed it though.”, he said, making you laugh once more.
“See? Sometimes I can even make you laugh intentionally.” As you remembered the conversation with Hermione the last day, you felt your face heating up again.
“Right, about that… Just don’t pride yourself on that, okay Malfoy?”, you said, avoiding his gaze.
“Don’t worry, I´ll just forget it if that´s what you want.”
You looked at him in surprise. You had expected that he would hold every word you had said against you. The positive things as well as the negative ones.
“Okay. Well, thanks, I guess.”
“It´s fine. I mean you are right. I wasn’t meant to hear this, so I shouldn’t nail you down for what you have said.”
You nodded thankfully.
“But can I ask you one thing about it?”, Malfoy asked, his voice sounding serious.
You sighted.
“Sure.”
“You said you might think I´m cute if I wouldn’t be…”
“If you wouldn’t be you?”
“If I wouldn’t be such an idiot sometimes.” You nodded.
“Did you mean this?”
You hesitated. Have you meant it? You remembered the feeling when you had woken up next to him. You hadn’t known it was him, still, you had had the feeling as if you could trust him. As if you had been safe. You slowly nodded.
“I think so.”
“So if I might…”, Malfoy stopped and scratched his neck. “If I would try to avoid some topics in the future, do you think… Well, that the two of us might be able to… get along sometime?”
You looked at him in surprise, but for Malfoy, the patterns duvet cover seemed to be very interesting now.
“It´s not just about the comments, you know? It´s about the fact that you believe in the things you say.”
Malfoy nodded.
“And if I… if I would try to change that too?”
“You know it´s not that easy, don’t you?”
“Yes, but I think it might be worth a try.”
He glanced up at you, throwing you a shy smile, that for some reason, made your heartbeat speed up. You couldn’t help but return your smile.
“I think so too.”
Malfoy sighted in relief.
“I promise I will try.” But then his cocky smile returned to his face. “But honestly, you would miss it if I wouldn’t tease you anymore, wouldn’t you?”
You laughed.
“But I wouldn’t mind if you wouldn’t insult my friends, family and house every time you do so.”
Malfoy looked slightly embarrassed.
“Well, I might try. But I won’t promise anything.”
“Neither will I.”
Your gaze caught his and you felt some goosebumps on your skin as he smiled sweetly at you. But then another thought crossed your mind.
“Why that change of heart though?”
Malfoy shrugged his shoulders.
“You look cute when you sleep, I guess.”, he said.
You weren’t sure if he was honest or joking. Probably both.
“You know that sounded creepy, don’t you?”, you laughed.
“Sorry.”, the boy chuckled. “But it´s true though.”
You weren’t quite sure how to answer. Then your gaze fell on the clock.
“Shit.”, you cursed. “Already that late?”
You got up, grabbing some fresh clothes.
“You really need to leave. Don’t want to be late on my second day.”
“Shouldn’t I wait for you?”, Malfoy asked, but you shook your head.
“I need to get ready first.”
“Wouldn’t mind watching. It´s not like I´ve never done before”, the boy said teasingly.
“Out. Now!”, you laughed.
Malfoy got up and went to the door.
“See you around (Y/n).”, he smiled.
“See you around.”, you said, before you added: “You need to go left and then down the stairs and through the common room.”
Draco nodded and threw you a last smile, before he left the room.
You had just gathered all of your things when you realized, you had forgotten to tell him something important.
Quickly, you left the room.
“Draco?”, you called.
But then you heard a loud bang and a string of curse words, you didn’t even know.
“Would it have hurt you to tell me that those stairs turn into a fucking slide, (Y/l/n)?”, he yelled from downstairs.
“Are you hurt?”, you asked worried.
“Only my pride.”, he grumbled as he got up again, in a not-so-elegant way.
“Normally that´s how boys are prevented to get into the girl's dorm. But looks like it doesn’t count for transfigured ones.”, you explained to him from the upper landing.
“Then I´ll have to get myself turned into a ferret every time I want to visit you?”, Malfoy mocked.
“Maybe you don’t have to sneak into my dorm every time you want to do so.”, you countered.
Malfoy laughed.
“We´ll see about that love.”

It's not necessary, but I found this song to be a good fit to this part. :3 (Steve Morgan--Into the Night)
~~~~~~
He snapped the suitcase shut.
Taking a step back from the bed where it lay, he sighed.
The day was upon them.
It was time to begin the flight to Hoenn.
He found himself thinking back to the last time he'd visited his mom. Far too long ago. Soon after he'd discovered he was in M--
No...
Soon after he'd discovered he was a Mew.
It had been a much less lighthearted visit. He'd had to break it to her that... Well...
That her son had died...
He hadn't expected her to accept him as... as a continuation of Randy... Arceus knew he had a heck of time accepting it. And there was no way he would've been able to if she hadn't.
He didn't dare think about what he would've done if she hadn't accepted him.
He smiled, as Lav's words came back to him.
"I'm proud of you, Dad. I know that time is hard for you, but... You've come a long way since it all."
...He had, hadn't he?
You alright, Love?
He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the beautiful blue Mew. Yeah, I am. Just reminiscing.
She nuzzled his cheek, purring. For once, he believed he would be to, if in Mew form.
Are you packed yet?
Yeah, I think so. I don't know how much of it I'll need.
That's always the case for travel. Better to have more than you need than less. I wonder how Lav's doing. And Perzi. Have you asked Perzi if he wants anything packed?
Yeah. He's fine. He's the most ready of any of us.
Randy sighed. I have to admit I'm jealous of how easily he adapted to having Rosemary. How easily he adapts to anything, really. I feel like a mess compared to him.
Akoya gave him a peck on the cheek and snuggled up to his neck. You're a recovering mess, Love. It's not easy, but you're doing great.
He felt his eyes grow hot with tears, and he smiled. Lav said something similar a bit ago. He paused, recomposing himself. I'm proud of you, too. You've been an amazing mother.
He felt her tense against his skin for only a brief moment. Her response was quiet and full of emotion. Thank you.
yyyeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Randy turned to the doorway just in time for the pale Mewtwo to barrel into him, knocking all three flat onto the bed. Thankfully they missed the suitcase.
Lavender quickly hopped up and hovered speedily around the room. YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAASS IT'S ALMOST TIMMME! WE'RE GONNA SEE GRAMMA VIVI!!!
Randy clenched his teeth against the peal of her voice. Lav, please, I know you're excited. But my ears are ringing.
Sorry Daddy! Her voice was at a reasonable level now, but she still floated and kicked her legs as she fought against her overwhelming joy.
Are you all packed, Lav?
She nodded vigorously. So much so her body rocked in the air as she bobbed her head. She finished with an accidental summersault and a giggle. Her parents couldn't help letting their own chuckles out as well.
Well...
Randy stood up, keeping a sense on his legs to see if they would decide to ache or not. Once up, he gripped the suit case handle and telekinetically pulled his cane to his hand. Mentally noting that he had everything, he turned into his Mew form. The items in his hands vanished with his human body.
Shall we speak to Perzi and the team?
You're all clear on how to run the place?
The three shiny Pokemon nodded in unison, grunting in affirmation.
Randy smiled at them, then turned to his wife, who was saying her good-byes to Jerry the Pichu. Lavender and Perzi were with the three kits, who were playing around in a nice padded tote bag they'd gotten for this trip, as a means to gather them together if need be.
Good. They seem to like it. Hopefully we won't need to force them in there.
The Mews eventually gathered together, waved good-bye to the remaining Pokemon...
And took off...
ARC START
I hope you all don't mind the influx of written parts for this arc. And potentially future arcs as well. It's just a lot quicker to get done, and helps offer looks at emotions and thoughts comics can't achieve on their own.
Anyway...
The trip has begun. :)
Idk if this means anything to you but I'm a comic artist who's had a hard time doing art for a few years. The first four was because of life hardship and lack of time/chronic pain, but now lately I've had time but a mental block. I'm creeping up on 30 and felt bad about myself for "missing out" on my opportunity to be a comic artist. It was really validating to see you post about being 41 (correct me if I'm wrong) especially since you have such wonderful comics that I've been following for a while now. It makes me feel less like I'm wasting my time putting my things in order when I "should" be drawing.
Hopefully this doesn't come across as offensive or anything. It was just comforting and validating. Anyway, big fan! Love your characters a whole lot and hope you have a good day!
Dear Anon
I am 41 years old. I have wanted to make comics my entire life. before my dad got sick, and my childhood kinda fell apart, all i did was draw. after that, i used the stories in my head to cope. life moved on. i was convinced not to accept a partial scholarship to an art school in California. life got hard. i worked at a hotel, and after i escaped an abusive relationship at 22 i hitchhiked/bused far far away to start over. i tried to make comics again, but i had to survive, and so i got another job doing the only thing i knew how to do, hotels. and i worked. and worked. and life got harder and times got heavier and i didn't get time to draw and i worked double hours, 15 to 17 hours a day. and i went four years without drawing a single thing.
i kept working myself into the ground. i was 29 now. i picked up a pen again and drew a red haired boy. he had a hard life and no love and no friends. his problems were on the outside, for everyone to see. he ran away but his problems went with him.
i was 32. surely i was too old now. my time to be an artist was gone. i had no school. no hope. i was so far behind the younger gen i saw online. i cried. all the time. i wrote stories in my email drafts while i worked shifts. i stayed up late trying to learn how to draw again. i cried some more. the boy grew. i called him Fiach. worthy. a raven. later i renamed him Avery. he was like a bird, he had wings, he was my hope. i started writing some friends for him. the people i wished i had around me.
i started finding time and space. i got a new job, something where i was lucky enough to set my own hours. for the first time i had a partner who believed in me. things were hard. but i was drawing now. and that helped.
i went on a road trip and i started drawing pages of an unnamed story on 6 by 8 paper in a sketchbook. i drew 20 of them. 'what could i call this?' i thought. Nothing Seems as Dark...no says my partner. Seemingly Dark. he made me a logo. i was 35. i bought an ipad, i cant do this on paper, its too much story i have too much to say. so i learned how to draw digitally by tracing my own trad art pages.
I spoke to my dad for the last time on June 17th, fathers day that year. he said 'you're good. i'm proud. and you're gonna do amazing things. none of this is your fault. and we will speak again soon.' i didn't know id never hear his voice again. he died a week later.
i turned 36. i kept trying. i'm old, i don't understand the internet. how can i share this?
i stumbled across Lore Olympus. i was introduced to webcomics. id read comics online before but the thought never occurred to me. i opened an account on Tapas. and then i stared at it. what if no one likes it. what if its bad. my art isn't good. i should wait til i'm better. but will i ever really be better? or will i always believe that tomorrow is better? do it now. if even one person gets something out of this story, this story about a boy who is you, a boy who looking for hope, a boy who might make it, then that is enough isn't it.
June 17th 2018 i launched Seemingly Dark.
SD's five year anniversary is in a week. 0ver 700 pages. leaps and bounds in progress with my skills. a printed comic under my belt as of monday. i was always a storyteller. but i was always an artist too.
I am 41 years old, dear anon. I did not truly embark on this journey til i was 35. life got in the way. even now, chronic illness gets in the way. but its worth it. its never ever too late. i believe in you the way my dad believed in me. i reset my life again and again. but I was always an artist. and if thats who you are, and who you want to be, even if things dont go the way you wished they could, you're an artist too.
im 41 years old. i speak about my age, even though i often feel too old to belong in spaces, cuz really, in this case age is just a number. take care of yourself. do what you need to do. and little by little, when your able, carve out your space until it becomes more of a habit. sometimes i think about all the years i lost not drawing or creating. but there's a lot of factors that make me believe had i made my story then, it wouldn't be the story it is now, i needed to live a bit. i needed to find myself. i know this was long, but i just wanted you to see i also had to put my life in order, and getting notes like this reminds me it wasnt at all a waste. im glad i could offer you some comfort. thats honestly the best compliment i could ever receive.
TL;dR I was 35 when i sat down and seriously started making comics, because life always got in the way and so did my confidence. i always feared being too old. im 41 now, still going strong.
Last Christmas | M.Barzal
Tumblr media
this is my entry for @antoineroussel christmas fic exchange!
this is for you, @lhugh! happy holidays annie 🎄🤍
this fic does use they/them pronouns as they are annie’s pronouns! 🫶🏼
word count: 2,461 words
-
Last Christmas, you walked into December planning every festive activity possible; the Rockefeller Christmas tree, Nutcracker at New York City ballet, Radio City Rockettes even letting Mat show you up at skating.
That was until Mat dropped the break up bomb on you. You couldn’t really comprehend it all, too confused and hurt at once.
You were supposed to spend Christmas with Mat and the team at the Martin’s. You never answered Sydney’s texts after the breakup.
You spent Christmas alone.
You were thankful the islanders tanked their 21/22 season. It meant that they all left to go home as soon as possible.
That meant no islanders, no jerseys, no chants on the train home from work.
No Mat.
He went home to Coquitlam two days after the islanders lost to Tampa.
Mat spent his first summer in seven years bouncing around from place to place. He was out on the lake with Tyson for a few weeks and he visited Anthony and Emma when they bought their new home in Quebec.
He wasn’t home long with his family until he got a call, from Brock. His dad had died.
He asked if you and Mat could attend the funeral, his father really adored you both in the time he’d met you and he knew Mat well. Mathew agreed to attend, claiming you were busy but sent your well wishes.
He flew into Minnesota the day prior, dropping off flowers to Brock’s mom and she welcomed him into her home giving him a drink and thanking him for coming.
“He always liked watching you play, unless you played against Vancouver of course” she laughed, Mat gave her a smile “It’s a shame y/n couldn’t come”
“Yeah, it’s a shame” he mumbled.
Next he saw her was at the funeral, listening while she stood talking about her husband, the love she had for him, how much she missed him already.
All Mat could think about when he heard her words were you.
You were his best friend.
You were the person who knew him best.
You were supposed to be around forever.
When Mat got home after that trip he didn’t do much, he was no longer in the mood to go out partying, celebrating with friends.
Mat returned to Long Island in the end of August.
He frequented the coffee shop you guys often did and he even walked the route in the morning you did. He didn’t see you.
It wasn’t until week 3 of attending the same coffee shop that the barista, Logan said to him
“Mat, they don’t come in here anymore I’m sorry. Said they needed a fresh start after the breakup”
He silently nodded to the girl, hoping she hadn’t caught his face falling. He simply took his flat white from the counter and exited to building.
Contract talks started in mid-september.
The organization called in May to the office to discuss; throwing around money and perks.
He took the time to digest the information. He called him mom and dad to see what their opinions were on the whole thing, called his financial advisor and even called Anders but the number he kept hovering over belonged to you.
Everyone’s advice was along the lines of “you need to see yourself settling down in Long Island with a contract term like that” and he did, with you.
The deal was signed on October 4th.
@ny_islanders: “I love It here” says Mathew Barzal, after signing his 8 year extension to stay here in Long Island 💙🤍🧡
You read the tweet, saw the posts and the stories from your mutual friends. You wanted to text him — tell him congratulations, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it.
So instead, you simply put an orange heart emoji under the islanders post about his extension and scrolled on.
Mat saw it. His heart soared at the simplicity of it but yet the fact he knew you were still thinking of him, that you in some way still cared.
Late October, the leaves were starting to fall and hockey was beginning again. Mat wasn’t playing his best — missing goals, easy passes and a lot of falling over.
People started doubting him; calling him a fake, a money grabber and claiming they wished Lou hadn’t even drafted his extension papers.
Mat started to doubt himself too.
was he good enough?
should he have signed the papers?
was he worth the money?
was Long Island better off without him? were you?
There is was! The real problem.
Ever since that last December his mind had been stuck on you and really it shouldn’t have because it was his fault, he broke up with you.
If anyone asked Mat why you broke up he would say “We just wanted different things”
If Mat was honest with himself he would say “I was scared I wasn’t enough for them”
The first few months of hockey came and passed with not a single goal from Mat.
Lambert pulled him aside one morning at practice to tell him “You better get your head out of your ass son because one more game the way you’ve been going and you’ll be benched for the rest of this year”
The last game in November, against Philadelphia Mat was a healthy scratch.
His punishment was over by the next game but Lane told him in no specific terms he had to step up. Mat just groaned and mumbled a “Yeah, I’m fucking trying” before leaving the office.
It was harder now that it was December.
In summer he could just pretend things weren’t different.
You weren’t at his families house? You had to be with your mom.
He was alone at the casino event? You had work.
But Christmas, that was different. Christmas wasn’t something he could sweep under the rug and pretend you were busy.
You’d spent every Christmas together since Mat was eighteen years old. Your first Christmas in New York was an overwhelming experience and Mat thought it adorable at how excited you were about everything.
He bought you a necklace that year. It had his number on it, the gold chain necklace held the number thirteen on your chest and you never took it off.
It was a staple piece in your collection, whenever someone at one of your fancy work dinners or meetings would ask
“Hey why does your necklace have the thirteen on it?”
You would smile so bright, in such adoration and reply “My boyfriend, mat. He plays hockey for the New York Islanders and he’s number thirteen! but always number one to me” and everyone would laugh and call you cute.
You’d left that necklace behind the night you’d packed your stuff up to leave. Mat found it when he returned home from Boston on an away game to find you’d obviously been in and cleared out your belongings too while he was gone.
He took the necklace and posted it to your mom’s house, the only address connected to you he knew. He never knew if you’d gotten it back, not that it mattered much anyway because why would you want to wear it after you’d broken up?
Mat’s no goal streak continued up to the last game before Christmas, December 23rd and he was goal-less.
He was so frustrated at everything he couldn’t think straight about getting this goal. He was spending Christmas alone for the second year in a row — alone, without you.
He couldn’t stop thinking about you no matter how hard he tried. How you’d been here tonight wearing a silly Christmas jumper and cheering about the last game before Christmas.
They tanked the first period, Tkachuk got away with the puck leaving them up one by the end of the first. There were so many penalties, stupid penalties. It was a mess.
Second period, they equalised in the first few minutes with a goal from Beau before Brock got them up another which was matched not long after by Florida.
When the third period hit it was like something went off in Mat, that he had a surge of energy.
He got a goal, his first season goal! Then another and another with only a few seconds left on the clock.
Hat-trick. He got a hatty.
He’d done it. He finally scored a goal this season, they won the game and he got a hat-trick!
So why didn’t he feel like it was enough?
When he got back to the locker room, Mat pulled his phone out of his bag and looked at his notifications; texts from friends and family congratulating him on the goals, random emails but it was as though he was searching for something.
He clicked through the phone until he landed on what he wanted and pressed it before holding the phone up to his ear.
It rang twice before it connected
“Hello?”
“Um, hey! This is weird and I’m not sure why I’m doing this but I felt like I had to because, well because I scored my first goal of the season tonight. I scored my first season goal and I got a hatty too which I mean is a lot but I don’t feel like it’s enough”
Mat sighed, completely blocking out his team-mates listening to this conversation and looking on with sympathy
“It’s not enough because I know you’re not here-“
“-Mat-“
“No, please let me finish it’s taken me long enough to get the courage to call you. I was stupid for what I did last Christmas and I will wholeheartedly tell you that this year has been the worst year of my life and maybe you call that karma, I call it a wake up call that you… you’re the love of my life and that I want to be with you, I was scared and stupid but I’m better I will be better for you! I’m ready to be the man you need”
After his spiel, Mat took a deep breath awaiting your answer but instead was met with a dead line.
You hung up on him.
Mat looked dejectedly at him phone in hand before he got up to get dressed as he was very spitefully aware of the media and press awaiting him outside the door.
He breezed through media by giving them one word answers and a bored look, they usually let him away early when he did that.
Collecting his bag from the now empty locker room and sulking down the hallway towards the car park.
He wasn’t even looking up, instead opted for the wonderful view of his scuffed shoes. Paying so little attention he didn’t even see you standing at the end of the hallway.
“Nice shot!” His head whipped up, locking eyes with you almost immediately.
You watched his face go through a multitude of emotions before it softened and he muttered “What-“
“I was here Mat” is what you said, gesturing to the stairs you’d descended from your seat “I was sat up there and I watched it, I was cheering you on”
Mat was speechless, fumbling over his words and his eyes flickered across your body, trying to drink you in while you were stood in front of him before his eyes landed on your neck.
Lay on your black shirt was a necklace, the necklace.
The number thirteen lay to elegantly on your chest “You got it”
You looked down and smiled “Oh yeah, my mom sent it to my apartment” playing with it between your thumb and pointer finger.
A soft silence settled between you both, it wasn’t weird or awkward — it could never be awkward between you and Mat.
Until Mat broke the silence by asking
“Why are you here?”
You smiled gently “The islanders last game before Christmas has always been my tradition since I moved to New York you know that and so I never changed it this year, despite the circumstances” the last bit was a little snappy and he knew that.
“I meant what i said on that call by the way” you nodded curtly as a reply before holding out your hand for him to take
“How about you drive us around that neighbourhood with the good Christmas lights and we can talk, in the car eh?”
The Christmas lights, another tradition between you both.
Mat reached out, clasping his hand in yours and nodding “Yeah, let’s do that”
The lights on peoples home’s had somehow gotten better this year and you admired them all in a childlike fashion from the passenger seat of Mathew’s Range Rover.
“This is one of my favourite traditions we started” you say, still looking out the window. Your hand rested now on the console in the middle of the car.
Mat slipped his hand into yours, taking a leap of faith which paid off when you clasped it in yours and squeezed it.
“Yeah, i love it” he muttered, pulling the car into the side of the road now you’d reached the end of the street.
You turned to him now, waiting for him to say something.
“Listen, this is all really weird and I wish I was better with words because I would like to be able to tell you the million and one ways in which I absolutely adore you and regret what I did last Christmas every single day. However, what I can do is promise you, I promise you that I will work everyday to prove to you how much I love you and how sorry I am — I ruined Christmas and I think that’s what hurts the most is that I tainted something you love so much-“
You cut him off then, your hands resting on his cheeks; forcing him to look at you and you said “Christmas is not ruined, Christmas has brought me back to the boy I love with my whole heart and being. Don’t you ever think that you ruined Christmas because sure it wasn’t fun last year but we will have a million more Christmas’ to make up for it”
He nodded, head moving slightly so he could press a kiss onto your palm “I’ll make every Christmas the most special just for you”
“As long as I’ve got you, baby any Christmas is special”
On Christmas, when Mat arrived late to the Lee’s for Christmas with the team he walked in smiling
“Sorry, sorry I’m late I had to pick something up!”
“Dude it’s Christmas Day where could you possibly have gone to pick-“ Anthony cut himself off when he saw you enter the house, gifts stacked up in your arms that you placed on the table next to the door before grabbing Mat’s outreached hand.
“Oh my god, it’s a Christmas miracle!”
Space Oddity - Clarke Griffin/Reader (The 100)
prompt: "can i have a clarke griffin imagine where the reader dies in the culling up in space in seasn 1 and clarke finds out? thx!!!" - anon
a/n: these are from my old tumblr thefandomwritings from back in 2018 ! re-vamped and re-purposed!! hope u enjoy and forgive the 2018 me style writing + the drama lmao
Tumblr media
Her Dad's Floating
"Clarke." You opened your arms just in time for her to collapse in them, sobs shaking her whole body.
"He's gone. My dad's gone and I just watched. I didn't do a single thing."
"You couldn't do anything."
"It's all my fault." She stared off into space for a few moments before you managed to ground her again, bringing her back to reality.
"None of this is your fault." You looked her in the eye, holding her chin in your hand. You gently brought her lips to yours, placing a soft kiss on them. She didn't react at first so you pulled away, not wanting to force feelings onto her. Before you could properly pull away, you felt her hand grip the back of your neck, pulling you back into her.
You could taste her salty tears on her lips and you wish you could have done something, anything, to prevent this. You pulled apart at the sound of heavy footsteps approaching the two of you. Guards were instantly filling the room causing you to protectively wrap your arms around Clarke, glaring at anyone that made a move towards you.
"I should go." Clarke sniffed and you frowned. "All my drawings are in my box, look after them for me. I wouldn't want anyone else to have them. They're all for you, I've been saving them to give to you."
"No, Clarke, don't. I'll protect you. I'll always protect you. You know that, right?"
"Of course I do but some battle can't be won Y/N." She shook her head when you went to protest, "I'll see you soon."
You nodded in understanding, letting Clarke do what was best, "I love you. See you soon, Space Oddity."
The Radio
"Clarke. Someone's on the radio for you." Raven smirked as she swung down from the drop ship.
"If it's my mother then tell her I don't want to talk right now." Clarke seethed, picking at the fraying cloth of her shirt.
"Nope, the request was from a little someone called Y/N. She asked for her, and I quote, 'Space Oddity'." Just the thought of talking to Y/N made Clarke's insides go fuzzy, her heart skipping a few beats as she ran towards the radio.
"Move, let me talk." She demanded. Everyone simply did as they were told, not wanting to get in-between Clarke and Y/N's reunion. "Y/N, baby? Can you hear me?"
"Clarke? Is that actually you? You sounds so much like... my god! You sound like my Clarke! I've missed you so much!" You laughed. Everyone witnessing the conversation couldn't stop a smile from spreading on his or her face at the sound of happiness - something everyone was gravely missing at the moment.
"Of course it's me, you idiot." She sniffed. "I've missed you. EVerything about you."
Your voice crackled due to the bad reception and there was a slight pause before the comment came through, "Yeah? Two seconds of talking and you're already insulting me, calling me an idiot, you little shit."
"Whatever." She laughed, "you will honestly love Earth when you come down here. The smells, the sights, the colours. I promise, you'll fall in love, Y/N." A grin covered your face at the thoughts of being on Earth with Clarke.
"I've already fallen in love, Clarke. I love you and you don't know how much I want to kiss you right now." You bit your lip and looked up at the ceiling, letting a deep sigh escape your lips. "It's been a while."
Tears began to sting Clarke's eyes, "I'll see you soon." She was interrupted by the noise of a heavy static ringing in her ears, the connection had been broken. "I love you." Clarke whispered into the now-useless radio. "I love you Y/N."
The Culling
"Abby!" You pushed through the volunteers lining up to take part in the culling, trying to get to the front of them.
"Y/N, I don't think you should be here to see this. Listen, go back to the hospital wing and we can talk there. Please." She cut you off, kissing your forehead. You smiled grimly and shook your head slightly, taking a shaky breath.
You shut your eyes and thought of Clarke, you were doing this for her and Abby. "Please, can you give this to Clarke?" You asked, sliding your ring off your finger and kissing it softly before holding it out for Abby to take.
"Look, I don't have the time right now. We can talk la-" She stopped herself when you slipped your shoes off, throwing them to the side of the hallway. You forced Abby's hands around your ring and stepped towards Jaha. "Y/N?" Her voice showed panic as she gripped onto your arm. "What do you think you are doing?"
"I'm doing what's right, Abby. Tell her I love her everyday." You swallowed the lump in your throat. "Clarke needs you more than she needs me. You need to get down to her, look after her." You tried to give her a reassuring smile. "And you need oxygen to do that. Listen, Clarke can find love again but she'll only ever have one mother."
"No, I can't let you do this. I am not letting you go in there." Abby shook her head, holding onto you even more firmly.
"I'm sorry but you don't have a choice, Abby." You shook your head, avoiding her glance as a tear rolled down her cheek. The two of you had grown a close bond, almost as if she were your own mother and so saying goodbye was hard. Especially since you weren't only saying goodbye to Abby but to Clarke as well.
You nodded your head at Kane who shook your hand. Abby shook her head again and stepped forward, "Y/N, you are not going into that room, I forbid it." She clenched her jaw, trying to act more brave than she felt.
"Yes, I am. I love you. Make sure Clarke knows I love her and stop her from doing anything too stupid." You smiled and took a few steps back. Kane wrapped his arms around Abby before she could follow and you watched as she struggled against him.
Jaha stepped forwards and shook your hand, "Thank you for doing this, Y/N. You will forever be remembered."
"Hell yeah, I will be." You mumbled, nodding at him before entering the room. You looked around at the citizens before you; most of whom were leaving so that loved ones could live. You spotted an empty corner and made your way towards it, pulling some items out of your pockets before you sat down and got comfortable.
I'll always protect you.
You laid Clarke's drawings in front of you, all the ones that you had collected over the years. Small doodles of you sleeping, sketches of your kisses, space and all it contained. Amongst the drawings were love letters, memories, jokes that were messily scrawled down, notes that were not so secretly passed in class. All tied up with a piece of string.
You will love Earth, I promise, you'll fall in love Y/N.
I've already fallen in love, Clarke.
Before you knew it your eyes were feeling heavy and you were losing your vision, you could no longer see the drawings in front of you. You took all the strength your body had left to clutch the pictures to your heart and send one last thought to Clarke, the girl you would do anything for.
Tell her I love her. —
"Where is she? Can anyone see Y/N Y/L/N? Please?" Abby rushed through, pushing past others as gently as she could. As soon as she saw you her heart seemed to stop beating, "Oh god, what have we done?"
She made her way through the dead until she got to you. Your eyes were still open, set on the package you had clutched in your hand. Abby choked back a sob and put her hand over her mouth before bending down and gently closing your eyes. She held your face in her hands and kissed your forehead, then your eyelids, your nose and your cheeks.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry that I let this happen." Her fingers fumbled as she took the bundle out of your hands. She couldn't bear to even glance at them so she immediately clasped her hands around it, silently swearing that they would soon be with Clarke.
Earth
"Mom?" Clarke whimpered as her eyes fluttered open. She was laying on a bed in the medical ward, weak and tired.
"Clarke, you need to rest." Abby stroked her daughter's cheek and tucked some hair behind her ear.
"I want to see Y/N. She came down here with you, right?" Clarke pushed herself up, or at least attempted to.
Octavia shuffled forwards from the shadows and put a hand on her friend's shoulder, "Clarke, you should listen to your mom."
"No, I need-" She protested, struggling to get out of everyone's sudden grip on her. She hesitated and relaxed momentarily, letting out a small defeated sigh. She looked into her mother's eyes, begging. "Mom, please. Just let me see her. I need her."
Living on Earth without you for the past few months had felt like hell and hearing your voice on the radio once or twice ages ago wasn't enough. She needed to feel you, smell you, touch you, love you, and kiss you. She had already been made to wait too long and now people were just wasting her time.
Clarke's heartbeat quickened when she saw the looks passed around the room. She stubbornly looked everyone dead in the eye yet they all would immediately avert their gaze. It was at that moment that something inside Clarke finally snapped.
"No. Look at me, Why aren't you looking at me? Bring Y/N to me. Now! Please." She cried out, verging on hysteria. Abby quickly ushered everyone out, her daughter needed time for grieving. "What the hell happened? What did you let her do?"
"She... She told me that she loves you Clarke." Abby crouched down, her throat already closing up. "She loved you so much. I swore to her that I would give you these." Abby gave the ring and the papers to her daughter who immediately burst into uncontrollable tears. "I'm so sorry, I tried."
"What happened? Please, mom, I need to know exactly. What the hell happened? Where is Y/N?"
"Y/N died, Clarke. She volunteered for the culling. I'm sorry." Abby could hardly put coherent sentences together. "She said she knows you can love again but-"
"No. No! I can't do this." Clarke shook her head. "I can't do this anymore. I'm too tired. Mom, help." Her voice shook and cracked, "I need Y/N, please."
"My baby, you've grown up too fast. I'm sorry, if there's anything I can do-"
"I need her. Bring her back to me mom." Clarke sobbed out, "I need Y/N."
Stranger in my kitchen
Summary: Dean goes full to protective dad mode, as he sees a stranger in his kitchen touching his daughter.
Pairing: Dean x reader
Warnings: firing a gun in front of a baby
Word Count: 1392
A/N: English isn’t my first language, so please don't judge me for using a translator for this original text. I wrote it together with my friend Minnie who has added the part of Lu and Y/N. We are so exited to add something to this beautiful community of writing for dean. Also this is my first fanfic ever published outside my inner circle of writing friends. (In our story it also became true, that Dean is Bens real father. And Bobby never died. ;) )
Tumblr media
[Y/N's POV] It was actually a normal day at the Winchesters' house. Dean had been on a hunt with Bobby and should be home soon. Ben was still sleeping his bed upstairs. The two dogs were running around in the garden and also needed a little time to themselves… Baby Cassidy was already awake with her mother Y/N. Cassy was in damn good hands and was currently sitting in a little baby bouncer on the kitchen counter and Y/N was clearing out the dishwasher. But they weren't alone. On one of the bar stools sat a man, not much older than Y/N and Dean, in a smart dark blue suit and white shirt that wasn't completely buttoned up. In his hand was a steaming cup of coffee and on his hand was a ring with a black rectangular stone in it. With the other hand, he nudged Cassy's bouncer and smirked at her. Y/N had just tied her hair up in a bun and was wearing just a top and hot pants as she crouched behind the counter at the dishwasher. Cassy started laughing and just babbled to herself.
[Dean's POV] Hunting. An activity in which Dean felt completely free and could rely entirely on his instincts. It was what he had learned, what he was born for. Making the world a better place, saving lives. The family business.
For once, it wasn't about changing diapers or talking to stuffy principals. No, Wendigos didn't talk and Dean understands Bobby without words. So the men had chased the thing in the nearby St. Jeffreys mine for a few hours and finally sent it to purgatory. It was life like before the unexpected baby happiness. The hunt had been all about instinct, speed and accuracy. That was what Dean had been living for the last few hours.
And that was what he needed now, when he saw a strange man sitting at his kitchen table, holding out his hand for his Cassidy. The strange man was wearing a suit. He was sitting with his back to the doorway through which the hunter had just stepped. An advantage, if only for a split second.
And the pistol was already in Dean's hand, loaded with silver bullets, aimed at the stranger's back.
Dean pulled the trigger immediately.
There were no thoughts clouding his mind. No details that he noticed. Shoot first, ask questions later. That had always been the motto. At least that of John and Dean Winchester. The bullet that Dean hoped would save his daughter went off with a loud bang. Then his gaze was diverted by a person appearing from behind the counter. It was Y/N, who Dean's subconscious had classified as missing before. That's why he hadn't hesitated for a moment to shoot the stranger. Because nobody was allowed to get too close to his little Cassy. No one.
If you had time to look at Dean, you'd see a serious guy with soot and dust on his face, trousers and jacket. A bloody scratch adorned his left cheek, his knuckles were cracked and his palms were scraped open.
[Y/N's POV] Y/N hadn't given any thought at all to the fact that her cousin Lu had announced himself. Twenty minutes before his arrival. Of course, that was typical of him, as always. If he announces himself at all. But she was a good hostess after all, offering her visitor a coffee immediatly. And although he wasn't purely human, she knew he posed no danger whatsoever. Not to Ben, not to her, let alone to Cassy. She had even asked him to help her with some of her research into Cassy's powers and how to secure certain parts of them. But nonetheless, she knew Dean would be back later today. But she just figured the situation could be resolved with a simple round of introductions. But that wasn't the case. Dean came in in the manner of his father and started shooting at everything he didn't know and couldn't categorize. Great…
But Lu was quicker. He had already heard the footsteps crunching on the smooth tiled floor. Because Dean's shoes didn't look particularly clean from the hunt in the forest and so he also heard the safety catch on the gun and then automatically raised his hand towards Dean and the bullet made it out of the barrel of the gun but fell to the floor just before it hit his suit.
Y/N screamed briefly and slapped her hand over her mouth, but then saw how battered Dean looked… "Baby! What happened?" She had also dropped a cup that she had just taken out of the dishwasher and then immediately ran over to Dean, took the gun out of his hand and stuck it securely in the back of her waistband.
Lu had stood up in the meantime and straightened the front of his Armani suit and then looked over at Cassy again and stroked her lightly over her small hand. "Well, it looks like your daddy in a damn bad mood…" He looked to Dean with a grin now, being slightly provocative of course… But that was just the way he was. Otherwise, he was a kind-hearted person, if you could call him that…
[Dean's POV] Dean lips twitched in anger as the guy stopped the bullet just like nothing. That wasn't human. Something like that shouldn't be in this house. Briefly, he froze slightly as Y/N took the gun away from him and remained totally calm. She even seemed taken aback by Dean's reaction. Only slowly did he realize that she could also have an insurance agent visiting or someone from the youth welfare office. But that was out of the question, because the man was totally unimpressed by the fact that he had almost been shot.
What was wrong with the guy and his mocking grin? Dean looked at Y/N in amazement, because she must have guessed what had happened. He almost nagged at her: "A strange, supernatural guy is trying to touch my daughter. This maybe?" Long slimy fingers trying to hurt a cute baby. But not in Dean's kitchen!
Quickly, the hunter rushed to Cassidy and picked her up from the rocker to his dirty arms. The comforting smell of fresh baby skin and diapers came into his mind and grounded him a little. The little girl didn't quite know whether to be happy or cry and looked a little frightened.
Dean turned his child away from the stranger so that he couldn't touch her again. The protective father turned threateningly to the suit guy: "Get your paws off her or you'll have mine in your face!" He would love to deform that polished face a little, given the stranger's audacity. Dean protectively placed a hand on Cassy's head. Only Y/N's light-heartedness kept the hunter halfway to the ground. Eagle-eyed, he tried to spot something about his girlfriend. Some strange behavior. Was she under a spell? "So, what's this, huh?" he asked, still growling slightly.
[Y/N's POV] Lu stood there grinning, his hands buried in his pants pockets by now and leaning against the counter in the kitchen, really very relaxed and not at all intimidated. He then picked up his coffee cup, spread his little finger and simply watched the spectacle that was unfolding between the two of them. As panicked, angry and heroic as Dean was acting, it really amused the cousin.
Y/N rolled her eyes, but then realized that she should have warned Dean that Lu was coming over. She ran a hand through her hair and then said, "Dean…please… If there's someone in this house, I let them in here, otherwise Evangeline and Bones would have struck. And I told you about my cousin Lu from Vegas back then, didn't I? May I introduce…my cousin Lu from Vegas…yes, Lu is not human. He's a warlock. And yes, I invited him here to think about this magical barrier for Cassy's powers and to talk to him. But that won't work if you just shoot him. He's my biological cousin and I hope we've settled the issue now!", she said with a sigh. "Lu? This is Dean… My fiancé and father of my daughter. He's not usually that pissed off. But with Cassy, he sees red… And he has an aversion to strange men in suits…"
Contagious (Sam Winchester x Reader Smut Series)
Requested: No
No set time frame!
Warnings: slow burn, slight kink if you squint your eyes.
Song Inspiration: This series is going to have a lot of song inspo, but the main one is "Contagious" by Trapt
MINORS DNI
A/N: So I have been having this series idea in my head for literal YEARS. I'm so happy to be able to starting writing it! I am starting from season 1, and unsure on how long this is going to be. But i hope yall enjoy the ride!
Summary: Dean calls her suspiciously telling to her to meet her at a bar. She hasn't seen her Sammy in years. Will their flame ever be lit again? All she knows is that Sam belongs to her.
Tumblr media
Pulling into the run-down bar Dean had called her to meet him at, she spotted the iconic Impala right away.  Parking nearby, she takes a quick look in the backseat. A heat formed on her cheeks almost immediately. This is where she and Sam lost their virginity to each other at 16. Her and Sam’s relationship was a non-stop running loop. Her father being called in for help on a hunt with the boy’s dad, her staying in a next-door room, and her and Sam finding any chance to fool around as soon as Dean left. She hadn’t seen Sam in years. He had called her the night he left for Standford, telling her it was over, whatever there was between them. But her heart still ached for the younger Winchester. She was unsure if Sam was inside. Dean had made it sound like he needed help with a hunt and that Sam wasn’t with him. However, as she stepped inside, Sam’s smell hit her like a freight train before she even spotted him at the bar.
Their heads turned towards the door at the sound of the bell. Dean’s face lighted up with a smile, but Sam looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Her stomach fluttered seeing him. He looked distraught, his eyes puffy, and his body language seemed slumped. Dean rose from his seat to greet her with a hug, as Sam sat still. Sam couldn’t meet her eyes.
“How you been kiddo?” Dean asked while pulling out a bar stool next to him.
“Oh you know, just killed a werewolf pack with dad in Nebraska when I got your call. What’s going on?” she asked as she waved the bartender over and ordered a shot of vodka. Practically chugging it down to calm the nerves of being in the same room as Sam.
“We think were close to the thing that killed mom.” Dean said bluntly.
 “How do you guess that?” She knew that John went missing but had no idea that this was why.
“Well, uhm- “Dean hesitated, looked at Sam for approval which he only gave a nod.
“Sam’s girlfriend at school died the same way.”
“Oh no, Sammy, I’m so sorry.” Sam tensed up, a dark look coming down his face.
“It’s Sam.”
Oh.
Dean cleared his throat, trying to cool the tension between them. She felt suffocated. Dean’s words ringing in her ear.
“Well, uhm, I don’t know why you called me.” she asked, chugging down another shot.
“We figured,” Dean started when Sam kicked his chair.
“I figured, with your hunting knowledge, and expertise, you could help us out.” Dean looked hopeful, begging almost.
But she sighed heavily. Unsure if she wanted to spend time with them again. Yearning for Sam when he clearly didn’t have the same feelings anymore. She got up from the bar stool as her phone began to ring. It was her dad, probably checking in on her.
“Hold on, my dad’s calling me, I’m just gunna step outside.” She said
She walked to the right side of the building, leaning up against it as they spoke. She told him where she was and that she was with the boys. She could tell that he was worried about her being around Sam again. It was like everyone knew about their past, and just overall energy of one another. They spoke on the phone for a good 10 minutes. Hanging up, she took a deep breath but hadn’t moved to go back inside just yet. Everything was on the line. She heard the bar door open, and Sam popped up around the corner, seemingly to look for her.
“Hi,” he said sheepishly as he approached her. Hands shoved deep into his pockets.
“Girlfriend huh?” She asked, as he stood in front of her. He was close, but he was still so far away.
“Yeah,” he muttered looking at the ground.
“Why Sam?” She was defeated. The overwhelming emotions of seeing him after all these years overtook her. Tears breamed in her eyes.
“Please,” he was begging. Sam never begged.
“How do you expect me to help you right now? After leaving, and telling me you couldn’t be in a committed relationship with me? Only to end up with some girl? And the only reason Dean is asking for my help is because of my brain? Do you even want me here?” She was angry, and it was evident in her voice.
Sam sighed again.
“It’s just so hard,” Sam began.
“I’m still in love with Jess but seeing you right now? I feel like I’m 16 again and all I want to do is be close to you.” He groaned. Hands fleeing into his hair out of pure frustration.
“Sammy,” she whispered. Her hand reaching to one of his to try to pull him from his thoughts.
  As their hands connected, Sam snapped to look at her, hunger clouding his eyes. With in a swift movement, his left hand was on her waist and pinning her to the brick wall. His right hand cuffed around her throat. She let out a small whimper as his lips hovered above her own. But he didn’t kiss her, instead, he turned his face to her neck. Taking in a small sniff of her perfume.
“Fuck,” He whispered.
Sam looked up at her again. Unsure of his next moves. She could see the war going on in his mind. Before he could do anything next, the bar door opened again, and Dean was calling for the two. A small whimper left her lips as his heat departed from her body before Dean saw the position that they were in.
“Ah, there you two are.” Dean says as he spots them.
“Are you in?” He asks hopefully. Deans’ eyes darted between the two of them.
Clearing her throat, all she could do is muster up a nod.
“Great! Meet us at this motel.” Dean hands her a card with the motel and address on it.
She could barely reach his eyes. The boys part ways from her. As she looks up, she catches Sam looking back at her. There was just something about his puppy dog eyes, and dumb hair that made her want to fight for him again. Even if it was a losing battle, Sammy was it for her.
