watching the Hair movie from 1972 and uh. If this is all people have seen? Its fucking awful. Like the pacing is bad, the music is garbage and not fun at all.... shockingly awful music actually. Maybe I'm just working on a really good production of a bad script but it's making me miss the stage version.

hmmm is there any specific analysis of tvl youve been dying to share but havent been asked about yet?

ok. there’s a lot. but some I don’t want to do right now for SPOILERY REASONS. some of them are as follows:

- the fundamental misunderstanding that passively occurred between tvl ladynoir for most of tvl

- the way tvl chat noir ‘tests’ ladybug throughout the story and why he does what he does and why he behaves in seemingly ‘bizarre’ ways

- a lot of the others r um. I can’t even share the topic regarding it bc you guys haven’t gotten to whatever chapter it’s linked to yet (feel free to ask any questions tho! be it now or after future chapters. that’s usually what awakens the intense TED talks I give about tvl to myself in my head)

right now tho? I want to pick apart tvl adrien being an actor and why that is and why that’s sad and how it came to be

-> like with many parts of tvl! adrien being an actor is sort of thrust upon readers. it’s a story that places a Huge gap between canon and the tvl timeline, and some details can be inferred, but loads of stuff aren’t things a reader can know for sure

-> also, due to the set up of the story, most of the tiny teased bits of info regarding tvl Adrien’s life leading up to and At 23, is largely fed to readers by tvl marinette, and not tvl adrichat himself, despite most of the story being his pov. but the scenes he is allotted are largely those where he Interacts with ladybug, and when he is with her, he doesn’t think of much else, unless it’s specifically relevant (like the love marks conundrum)

-> he just doesn’t unpack his past in his thoughts very much. however much it pains him. because it’s not something he’d prefer to unpack is how ladybug is making him feel and how he feels about her bc she’s Right There and she has this Hold on his heart that he can’t help but fixate over

-> but what you can tell is that he doesn’t really want to be doing his job… rather he sees it as a means to an end. and also an inevitability in a sense 😔 very. You Can Take The Man Outta The City Not The City Out The Man core. it’s. the ones who abuse us can leave but the effects of that abuse aren’t as easy to shake. it’s also. sometimes we wind up doing what we ran away from but we pat ourselves on the back saying it’s different bc we chose it, or it’s not the same because we wound up in a hole two steps away from what we were originally doing and that’s a different hole so it’s okay maybe!. its. was this too hard to break away from? or was it just too easy to go back to because its all we were ever taught?

-> because imagine ur tvl adrien in uni and your friends have always had passions for things that are vaguely related to industries that you suffered in as a kid. your best friend wants to be a dj but he also loves directing and talks so passionately about his favorite films and DREAMS of making One Of The Greats one day. his gf who is also one of your best friends is into journalism and your ex gf who is also one of your best friends loves designing and fashion. and you used to be a model but don’t want to be a model anymore. u make some small movies to help your best friend with his projects for film classes. they’re so fun! you love how it brings you and your friends together. your ex who you never really got over helps make costumes, shyly puts makeup on you, your best friend’s gf promotes it on her massively successful blog. the public mostly cares about it because you were in it and you’re the kind of famous that doesn’t ever go away. you WISH it would go away. but then you try to see the bright side of it. your best friend is so happy people like his short film. he gets an A for the class. you accidentally get another friend even MORE heavily considered for the job she’s been talking about non stop all week because you mentioned knowing her. you get pressured into doing a film because they say they’ll give your best friend an important role on the crew. little by little it all builds up and this is just your career now

-> but you find little ways to take control. you realize you get to decide who works with you and for you and you see your Good Best Friend Ex who just started complaining about how little the internship she’s doing pays. you think you could take away her pain so easily. and it makes it all less painful for you. it’s such an even trade. but then your Partner Against Magic Crime starts taking up more of your time and you realize you WANT all the time that you can get, and having Something To Do In The Day becomes an absolute chore again, and maybe you don’t care how happy it could make the public and how Excited your fans will be

-> this manifests in all the little asides you see in tvl where he Suggests quitting his job all the time and Thinks about it a lot

-> At the same time. who doesn’t wanna quit their job. he’s just a little guy. surely he’s worked enough for several lifetimes

pre-nccts peppermint as-voiced-by-katie is a being so fascinatingly, hilariously, suffocatingly rancid that i felt the need to take a breather at one point when the streams originally aired and still wince going back to her scenes, an erratic obsessive creep armchair psychologist writer and masochist on a constant dizzying sugar high who happily rejects all adherence to social contract in devotion to an evil god she's actively stalking who wants nothing to do with her in pursuit of an escapist fantasy she's projected onto him. nccts peppermint as-written-by-ryan is a particularly unstable cringe sad wet newly crowned old god in a box all alone with abrasive and obsessive tendencies over shipping, fandom drama and her own opinions about character writing to the detriment of her ability to engage positively with the 'real world' (Relatively Speaking) outside of those lenses, her derealization and her tendency to treat other people as fictional objects to project her desires onto in violation of their boundaries only being worsened by Prism's enabling of that mindset and her possessive and obsessive desire for a tooth-rotting archie-andrews ass romantic fantasy with Crimson, but she's observant and sharp and self-assured enough to stand her ground when she realizes she's being manipulated with the promise of companionship and to not waver in her conviction that Prism is wrong. these arent at all incompatible, in fact they read to me as two parts, almost two perspectives, of one greater whole, but they are pretty noticeably distinct in their focus execution and tone, i think?

she's still a creep, but ryan doesn't always sell it as hard or as strongly as katie did, often leaning on common (and thus usually less shocking and by extension less effective due to not hitting as hard) 'unpredictable viscerally lonely yandere' trope stuff. Or maybe the written medium just dampens its effect- hard to explain what specifically makes katie's pep character voice so Offputting, i cant imagine it's easy trying to translate it into text without losing some of its offensive punch when you lose the element of vocal delivery, im not sure how id do it. Havent gotten to the most potent ncct pep stuff in the reread we've been doing yet, my opinions' subject to change, maybe shes worse than i remember, lol

if peppermint's character premise is summarized and boiled down to the absolute basics as 'creepy and obsessive parasocial fan of the sport' then katie put the emphasis on 'creepy' and 'obsessive' and ryan put the emphasis on 'parasocial fan of the sport' to better use her as a character that reflects the concept of fandom and position her as being on the side of characterization over strict narrative structures and expectations for the nccts' metanarrative thematic purposes, you get what i mean?

marking 'couldve been a great character if handled differently' is admittedly kind of misleading when what i really mean is 'i hope these takes on her character maybe get synthesized a little more going forward now that prism's arc villain era in the nccts is effectively over and the narrative actively problematizes her violative and antisocial behavior more again because shes less interesting to me when its treated as inconsequential in the grand scheme of things as it kind of mostly is after ncct2, and that her loneliness and the roots of how she is and why are explored more.' alas the bingo board is written in past tense. None of this is a criticism really just kinda observations of the disconnect that sometimes comes into play when a character is really Made by their voice actor in a way thats sorta lost in translation to another medium and to the hands of another writer with different goals.

All this being said, i like her! In a show about identity and connection and our responsibilities to ourselves and eachother when living in community with others, a character defined by loneliness, disconnecting from other people and their own reality and sinking deeply enough into themself and their eccentricities and what little they DO find connection through to the point of lacking consideration for others' existence as full, real people, reducing them to picking them apart as though theyre storytelling tools, trying and struggling by navigating the world around her as though its the fiction she loves with no REAL consequences, until she upset someone badly enough to be forced to consider them as a real person with feelings (relative to her as. Also A Fictional Character,) is a really interesting character concept for a metanarrative arc of the show, and her being manipulated by the godly 'author' into being her lackey through a sense of companionship and enabling that perspective on the world by letting her in on the in-universe Cosmic Secret that their world IS a fiction to someone, us, the audience... its pretty fascinating, especially because she only falls for the lie in it for so long. It does matter. It may not be real, but it does matter. And she took us believing in her so close to heart...

a/n: ITS MY BIRTHDAYYY had only a bit of time to finish this so when you see this its probably not my bday anymore. no word count sorry 💀 also smh not tumblr making the pictures blurry. Hopefully these scenarios arent overused, i havent wrote properly in a few days. I realized how fun thoma is to write omg!!

Warnings: unequal length, meaning some might be short and some might be long. One swear word on scara's, text might look kinda weird but im not entirely sure, spoilers if you squint on aether's.

summary: I have 8 genshin scenery pictures (ctto, photos arent mine. i found them on multiple platforms) and there will be 1 scenario for 13 characters that i think would fit the picture! Simple as that. The ending for each one is up to you

1.

When zhongli let you rest by a tree from the tiring walk across liyue, the ex-archon told you stories of the village right in front; Qingce. You closed your eyes in an attempt to sleep but the brightness of the sunshine stopped you from doing so. Zhongli paused to brush your hair, signaling you to open your eyes. The mountains in the distance and the fields below complemented the vast sunset before his eyes, And he gave it appreciation for who knows how many times in his life. "Y/n, i must say the sunset of qingce village is quite the sight to see. It would be a shame to miss it."

2.

After helping thoma with simple errands in ritou, your eyes were glued to the mouth-watering snacks of a certain food stall by the corner. Thoma notices this and thinks. You definetly deserve it after all that work! He instantaneously goes up to the food stall while waving at you to join him. "My treat today! Thanks for the help, but i just thought of a challenge.." He puts a hand on his chin and continues "Try to guess what i would order. If you get it right, I'll give you extra hugs and kisses tonight!" Who would decline such an offer?

"My, I didnt expect to see you here.." A mysterious yet familiar voices catches your attention. "How could you forget that your significant other was waiting for you?" Your confused mind tries to recall when yae miko and you planned to meet, but nothing came up. You turn your head to see her walking up to you "Haha, im joking. I just felt like i havent gotten enough attention from a certain someone.. They must compensate with.." She ends the sentence early and picks the nearest food stall to go to. Archons, how did buying materials for a new personal project of yours end up with yae miko feeding you egg rolls like some baby?

3.

"And thats a wrap, good job y/n!" Amber congratulates you after a day of taking down hilichurl camps and practicing your gliding skills. The both of you race back to mondstadt in a way thats slightly different: gliding. With the help of random wind currents, amber was slightly ahead of you but once the cotton-candy like sunset was visible, She slowed down her tracks to admire. "Y/n! Come down, come down! We have to take a picture together!"

You gasp and put a hand on your chest, then observe what you've stumble upon. A bard from mondstadt, peacefully playing his lyre on a small edge and humming to himself. The sky was painted with a pink-like shade, perfect for the tunes he was playing. It was almost like it was the first time you laid eyes on venti. Basically, you were mesmerized. The bard opens his eyes for it to meet yours, he reaches a hand out, as if telling you to join him.

4.

"Xiao? Why are you here?" You were tasked to investigate a crime scene in dragonspine that involves the abyss order, but once you got to your location, you never thought you would meet the adeptus looking up the snowy mountain. "You need not worry." He replied "I just- the snow gives me memories." You thought about what he said. Those memories must be dark ones, hm? You wish you could change his view on snow, so the next time he looks at it, he wont think of those thoughts anymore.

Once again, you were working with scaramouche. Why are you working with the fatui again? how did you manage to get into one of the higher-ranking ones? And lastly, what did you get yourself into? "Y/n? Have you become deaf?" Hearing his voice snaps you back to reality. Forgetting to bring a warmer was a mistake!! You're zoning out and shivering. the worst part is, scaramouche notices it. A few seconds of panicking later, you see him pulling out what looked to be the exact warmer you usually buy and he.. hands it over to you? "Fine, this was incase i would get cold. But i guess you can use it for now. This is only for the mission, okay?! So dont get the wrong idea, dumbass."

5.

You look at aether with the brightest eyes he's ever seen you with. "Are we... Really here?" Before a reply came out, he couldnt help but smile. He made your wish of venturing to this hidden gem of a "nation" come true! The destination most average adventurers like you would never get the chance to explore. He simply nods, hand reaching down to your own as he slowly takes a step forward. It was time to make movement now. While walking, the traveller's mind was all about the dangers that await. He'll protect you, he promises. Just hold aether's hand and you're safe.

6.

You jump as you hear a loud scream from the location you came from, And look who it was! Arataki "numero uno" itto, wearing a strange, broken hat he has just found while searching through the abandoned houses of yashiori island. "itto, are you seriously scared of thunder?" You mocked, Exicted to see his reaction. "W-what? Me? Scared? I looked all over this pile of junk to find you this super duper rare necklace i saw in a book! Now come here, Lets see if it suits ya' style." Wait, what?

"Hurry!!! The umbrella's going to fly away!!!" You rapidly wave at heizou, who was examining elemental traces left behind an unidentified group. "How am i supposed to find the truth behind this "bandit" if i dont take my time on- ouch!" Before he knew it, the same umbrella you were holding flew right torwards him, leaving you soaked and heizou somewhat bruised. He picks it up before it can escape somewhere else and rushes to give it back to you "Im sorry, im sorry. Seriously now, lets take shelter by that shed. I'll... try my best to keep you warm."

7.

Its not like xiangling needed to go all the way to the north of liyue and drag you along for the "Excellent, wonderful, outstanding, magnificent, amazing, high quality meat" (while thinking of it, you can practically hear her voice) She speaks highly of, she just really wanted a reason to show you this treasure of a place she found. She was so enthusiastic the whole time, pointing to this and that, grabbing that and this for "future recipes". In the end, you both decided to have a cozy picnic in the depths of the bamboo forest. Of course, xiangling didnt need to make anything! She came prepared with all sorts of dishes, all she had to do was asked guoba to make a fire.

Currently, you and shenhe were walking up to qingce when you spot- a poor puppy that fell into the water?! You stop your tracks and try to reach out to the animal, but of course, you we're too far up. Shenhe on the other hand, was all ready to jump into the water, saving it. Without warning, she does what her mind told her to. Well, it definetly left you shocked. She was fast with her feet and climbed up with the dog in her other hand, not wasting any time. You reach a hand down once more and archons.. How could she look this beautiful looking up right into your eyes with her hair and clothes slightly soaked, grabbing onto your arm for support?

8.

You were accompanying jean, klee and a few other knights to the archipelago, as "dodoking" has awoken a once more!! When the night fell, you and the acting grand master somehow ended up sharing a tent. As for why, a certain librarian wanted her to "get closer to you" -shrugging off what she said, you went out to go stargazing to clear your mind. You settled down, and if it isnt Leo Minor shining through the vast sea of stars tonight... You smiled, recognizing the constellation. Like it was on queue, Jean came up to you and sat right by your side. No words were spoken, only the stars and the both of you "getting closer"

so for ❔, i've been working on a kyotan fic where kyo is an orca hybrid and tan is a fisherman who fishes frequently in the orca's territory (very dangerous!! but there's a lot of fish and other sea creatures) bc he just cant catch enough to feed his family in the Safe Zone aka the areas just slightly beyond the reefs

the village folk keep telling tan not to fish near the orcas bc there are rumours that the orcas like to sink ships and foreign entities due to their territorial nature

but ofc tan simply smiles through their repeated warnings and continues to fish in the area to put food on the table for his dear family

one thing leads to another, and one day, tan slips into the ocean while fishing and is pulled under by the strong currents

after that, he wakes up and finds himself in a mostly dry cave with a mysterious lump of seaweed and a broken piece of steel from what seems to formerly be an anchor by his side

*whispers* he's rescued by kyo but he doesn't know that until later in the fic xD

kyo actually saved him bc he thought tan would make a nice meal, but tan was definitely all lean muscles and bones from working hard everyday

so he keeps tan in this little cave hidden from the shores while taking care of tan secretly at night, leaving behind what he thinks humans eat and definitely not what humans can eat

tan is of course confused and wants to leave the cave, but he didnt manage to swim very far from the entrance of the cave before being stopped by the wall of debris surrounding it

so he returns to the cave to rest and recover before trying again the next day

some dumb shenanigans ensue when kyo and tan finally meet xD

like when tan wakes up just a tad bit too early one day and catches a glimpse of the tip of a dark tail slipping into the water

he thinks, aha! this must be the creature that keeps leaving behind weird inedible stuff in the cave each day!

so he makes a decision to wake up a little earlier the next day to see whether he can catch the creature in action or not

i havent gotten far with the plot yet so yeah hahhahahah

and for 💗, its a scene from another WIP kyotan fic hahahahha, the deity AU with byakko!kyo and sacrificial bride!tan

there's this awkward bath scene (and more) i really want to write, where kyo is desperately trying to deny and repress his budding feelings for tan, but tan keeps doing the little things he always does as The Perfect Big Brother TM, such as giving kyo a full body grooming session while in tiger form (normally a mortal most definitely wouldnt dare to get so close to a powerful deity of protection, of defense, let alone dare to touch the deity's fur so nonchalantly)

and tan is oblivious to kyos feelings bc he doesnt see him that way (yet), and more so of a, "awhhh the all powerful deity is actually living quite a lonely life of solitude, i should keep him company for a while", after he gets over the scare of tricking a deity as strong as kyo xD

so! kyos taking a bath, and tan decides to join him midbath, to which kyo freaks internally and chooses to excuse himself first, but not before his heart races uncontrollably and he makes a sputtering fool of himself in front of tan (who thinks kyo's just having one of /those days/ and needs some cheering up, so he follows kyo relentlessly throughout the whole day, making kyo even more flustered xD)

What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don’t care about anymore?

I didn't know the concept of shipping was a thing until I was 29 and stumbled onto fandom on tumblr, (didn't know about fandom either until then), so I'm trying to think of any couples I would have considered cute in anything I watched/read growing up... and I really dont know?? Joshua Jackson was a fave actor from back then and I can't even remember if I had an opinion on the Dawson/Joey vs Pacey/Joey debate on Dawson's Creek. I was always more interested in the story than the ships! (Can you tell I'm on the aroace side of life? Lol)

Which ship would you consider your first one?

Captain America is what lead me to finding fandom in the first place so Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes is the first that comes to mind. But before that I was very into Dr Who, so I'd probably consider The Doctor/Rose Tyler the first fictional couple I had any emotional investment in.

Your first fanfic was about which couple?

My first shippy fanfic (written before I knew what "fanfic" was) was James Bond/William Brandt Skyfall/Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol crossover.

You know the scene in Skyfall when Silva has Bond tied to a chair and starts toying with his chest and teases him about this not being in his training and Bond replies "What makes you think this is my first time?"? And then in Ghost Protocol when Jeremy Renner's character pulls himself out of the vent at the last second and gripes "Next time I get to seduce the rich guy."? I joked to my best friend that "Now we know what James Bond's first time was." And that's how that idea was born.

I started writing it as a joke for my friend but never finished it, and if I find the notebook it was written into I might just revisit it because I still quite like the idea!

Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of?

Not for certain, but possibly either Dean/Cas or Rose/Ten.

Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?

Like ship wars or 'problematic' kind of discourse? If I did it would have been in my Captain America days (Stucky vs Stony and Peggy vs Sharon being heated topics of memory), and even then I don't remember specific incidents - as a newbie to fandom I tended to lurk and watch instead of engaging. Now I'm very much Ship And Let Ship (and only bitch in private to your mates, not in public!)

Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently?

There have been plenty of ships I've come across that weren't my thing, Stony for example, but I'm not going to invest enough energy into recalling any others. I'm not here to spread hate on something other people like.

So many. Zhang Rishan/Ba Ye, Hei Xiazi/Xiao Hua, Steve/Bucky, Steve/Peggy, Data/Geordi, Stiles/Derek, Jiang Cheng/Nie Huaisang, Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan, and likely more that havent come to mind yet

Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

Haha no. I think I've always just accepted canon couples as "the thing that happened in the story", and now when I have my own ship preferences, then I accept that it's *my* headcanon and not necessarily anyone else's (especially not the writer's headcanon).

When Captain America Civil War came out I realised I'd gotten WAY over invested in what was or wasn't included in the movie (although I knew realistically they weren't going to make Stucky canon ) that I took a big step back afterwards and very much made a mental separation between "this is the story those writers want to tell" and "this is the story I like to imagine".

Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

Dean/Cas maybe? It wasn't so much that I disliked them but that I didn't read them as a romantic relationship for most of the time I've known the ship existed (I'd always read Cas as ace). It's only been since the show ended that I think my idea of what makes a ship had widened to more than just "stereotypically romantic" which recalibrated how I saw them.

Do you have any ship that, in the past, would’ve been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

Incestuous (Thor/Loki, et al,)? Teacher/Student(I blame ABBA)? Torturer/Torture subject (Hydra Trash Party)?

What is your favorite crack ship?

I will certainly have come across crack ships that appealed to me, but honestly if the writer/artist sells it well enough then I stop thinking of them as crack ships and instead think of them as rare pairs.

What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?

Currently? HeiHua. Overall? Stucky.

What do most of your ships usually have in common?

Someone to be vulnerable around, someone who understands you better than anyone else, "you're not alone anymore"

What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

If I don't like a ship it's probably more to do with a singular character I don't like than the couple itself.

:autismstare: anon are you sure...a free pass to infodump about r1999...(i start shaking)

(imagine the scene changes into me looking like a nerd about to teach you something) ok so reverse 1999 is a (checks note) turn-based tactical role-playing video game. whatever that's supposed to mean. and it released globally pretty recently, during october 2023! the first version released was the chinese one, who was released may 2023, so the difference is not too huge

but yeah! the gameplay is basically it's...gacha. unfortunately. maximum rarity is 6 stars. and you can use your characters in battles (3 maximum, + a bonus character that enters the battle if one of your characters dies)

and in the battles you can do moves but using cards, and there's multiple different moves. attack (either reality dmg or mental dmg, either on a single enemies or on 2 enemies, ect), buff, debuff, healing...you know the drill. and yeah all your characters have their own sets of cards that are handed to you randomly at the beginning of each round. you can also move your cards around and combine them (IF they are the same) to make them stronger!

theres also moxies that you accumulate by doing moves or moving your cards or combining them ect and basically when your character has maximum moxies you can play their ultimate which is their super powerful attack, basically

BUT ENOUGH OF THE GAMEPLAY the story. its sooooooo good basically the premise is that there is something called the storm that makes time move backwards ever since 1999. so the main cast goes from the 1960s to the 1920s at one point

you play as vertin, who is the main character, AND UNLIKE MOST GACHA GAMES MC SHE IS HER OWN CHARACTER!!!! with her own personality and motive and story and eughhh shes great i love her so much

theres also events with events stories but i didnt really do much of those yet. im sure theyre really good too though

also we have yuri. like a lot apparently. including a yuri square with doomed yuri and unrequited yuri (vertin is part of it)

I THINK r1999 is also very good when it comes to history and cultures because 1. they literally travel back in time and 2. the characters are all so varied!!!!! idk about the other voiceovers but in the english one they made sure that the characters have accents based on where they're from, and even sometimes speak their own language! (for example vertin and regulus have a clear british accent; schneider and sonetto have some sort of italian accent? maybe?; matilda has a french accent AND speaks french; satsuki has a japanese accent AND speaks japanese; and ect and ect!)

Wow, I didn't know that about Terra! I'm surprised they were so upfront about that! Maybe her girlfriend was supposed to be Daryl, or they were going to make Locke into a woman who was going to be her girlfriend, kind of like Terra was originally supposed to be a male character. It seems like the idea was reworked for Fang and Vanille's relationship in XIII. (Also Lightning seems like a lesbian.) Thanks for the reply, I'm so pleased!

Also had a similar thought, but for the love of god the only optional/implied- scrapped girlfriend i found is celes(in that one time terra played with the thought of falling in love and flirt with celes only to reject the idea of love) which is with the other guy in the end, im replaying it in english its my next game after finishing 5(which i dont have much of left of).also yeah it feels like the scrapped concept was rewritten into 13! Thats why i was so happy with the inclusion(and yeah i restarted playing 13 in english for the first time and lightning does sound kimda gay, which id preffer than the hope implication that this game have for some reason in jp. Like i love hope, he grew to be a fine man only to be put back into a child in lightning returns which for the love of god i cant stand, let the kid grow, have his relationship with lightning be maternal& non romantic please my personal headcanon is that lightning is a mother figure to hope and hope brings her softer sides, as in what babies, kitten and puppies bring out of pple and for some reason pple really do ship them and im livid. Pretty sure there's no official love interest for claire cause in the toriyama's eyes she is his wife, no man can have her thats why the only pple she is soft for is serah and hope is no threat for Toriyama)

Also im stuck in the sahz vanille segment in the forest when you change weather i hate the bosses idk why but my adult brain is somehow worse in the game then i was before(like dont get me wrong i did get stuck allot but usually in the summon fights or like later game fights idk if the xbox version is bugging on me but im seriously stuck and thats what sparked my replay of the series )

(played it on pc before so idk what i did or is the steam version easier but i wanna get to fang already and im stuck even though i looked at tutorials ಥ⁠‿⁠ಥ

*also just jumped to xiii-2 to replay that one on english as well(the whole xiii trilogy i experienced back in the day in japanese i think my original version was on ps3, but i lent most of my collection when my first ps3 died so ill get that back only when my cousin will visit next)

So im cringing at some of the differences there too. But on funny note i think its hilarious that vanille and fang had an Australian accent, cause in japanese its okinawan i think and the implication are hilarious. Especially on fang it sounds just 100% like she had a huge lesbian vibe in japanese as well and text wise more so but i cant her va in english did such a great job im in tears like most of the cast sounds good in the first game but the 2nd in english 8s evan whackier than the jp and havent gotten to lightning returns yet but i cant wait to see that one dog scene in english, but yeah sorry for gushing i really love thise games and its hard to find pple who played them let alone acknowledge the gays in the games especially in the western sides of the internet (like besidesa handful of actual queer players who actually got far enough in the games & few dudes who just love vannile and fang cause they are fetishizing the lesbians & ignoring the whole lot of representation the games gave us through the years- which is the problem with subtleity cause like in ffvx it was straight out changed in localization cause oh no the guys will be pissed if manly-man macho m'gee over here is fancying the glasses twink 'god forbid' ತ⁠_⁠ತ)

I just really love those game and dont get me wrong in not looking at it in queer centric goggles all the time or thats all i wanna talk about but when i finally find pple to talk about the games with usually after a while when the subject comes and im gushing about how i love fang & vanille /gladio& ignis or even now with 16's terredion pple outside of the very small queer internet bubble is usually get all pissy about it and bitter(which is shocking to happen now in 2023 but its more centered around the 'im not homophobe but not everything is about that) when dude chill all i was talking about is that hey thats the 3rd gay dragoon in a row. (Ignis is kinda a dragoon too, since his moveset with lance equipped is very similar to Arenea)

Ok so after the ending of coi, everyone was talking about how cordelia and matthew were going to be together, or at least have a romantic scene. And i knew that this wasnt going to be true and had an entire theory with proof ready but never posted it. So here it is,

When we first heard about the last hours series, Cassie had told us that the love triangle in this series wasnt going to be the normal 2 guys one girl trope, but rather one guy and two girls. Which is James with Grace and Cordelia. Which told us that this is going to be the main love story the book focuses on.

Now, at the end of coi, and the spoilers we got for cot, i knew that many ppl thought that there was gonna be a love triangle with james cordelia and matthew, which falls into the cliche love triangle trope of 2 guys one girl. BUT Cassie told us that it wasnt going to be like that. So knowing this EVERYONE shouldve known that cordelia and matthew are NOT going to be canon.

Cassandra told us herself that it wasnt going to be the one girl two guy love triangle. After the end of coi, we knew that the love triangle was over and that cot was going to focus on building james and cordelia's relationship.

For those who thought matthew and cordelia were going to be together, shame on you. We are talking about the ENTIRE FUTURE of the Harondale bloodline if cordelia chooses matthew over james.

Now that i have gotten that out of the way, im going to rant about some things that happen in cot, so for those who dont have their copy yet and havent read it, thanks for reading my post, love y'all.

Now for my rant,

In EVERY SINGLE SITUATION where james and cordelia are together, james tries SO HARD to make her believe he loves her. And what does she do when they have a moment ? LEAVES HIM. LIKE GIRL HE IS HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH YOU. AND YOURE LEAVING HIM AFTER IT ? NOT EVEN A SMOOCH ? Ok ik he broke her heart but hear me out, HE REVEALS WHATS INSIDE THE NECKLACE (which im not saying what it is, those who know, know) AND YOU JUST LEAVE TO FIND MATTHEW ? GIRL, can you please just think over this ? Ik matthew is in a hard place rn but if u continue to do things that make him thing you love him then he AINT GONNA LEAVE YOU WITH YOUR MAN JAMES, WHO PROBABLY CARES MORE FOR YOU THAN MATTHEW.

Also this is NOT hate towards matthew, he is one of my favorite characters, i just hate that this is what is happening in the story and he just falls as a victim of fault. I love u matthew, hope you are happy, wherever your little heart takes you.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SAY WHY MATTHEW HURTS HIMSELF SO MUCH. LIKE BRO, YOU KEEP GOING FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE LOVERS, YOU KNOW CORDELIA HAS HAD IT FOR JAMES SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN KIDS. OK IK THAT JAMES MIGHT LOOK LIKE HE LIKES GRACE BUT NO. HARONDALES LOVE BUT ONCE AND THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO JAMES. HE JUST HAS A STUPIT BRACELET THAT TELLS HIM OTHERWISE.

Also, on the topic of the gracelet, HOW THE HELL DID ANNAS NECKLACE NOT FIND THE DEMON ENERGY COMING FROM THE GRACELET LIKE WHAT ? Ok maybe its just rlly good demon enchantments but like bro, not even a tiny blink at the gracelet? ALSO NO ONE SAID ANYTHING TO JAMES WHEN HE SUDDENLY WAS WEARING THAT BRACELET WHICH OMINOUSLY SAYS " Loyalty binds me" ON IT. LIKE THAT IS SO CREEPY, AND NO ONE THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT A 12 YEAR OLD KID WEARING IT ???????

I got inspiration for SeasonTale based off one Game of Thrones clip I saw with a dragon, a man, and a woman, and the bad sanses. It was literally only one scene, and it sparked a story!

Heh, Sanses... Outside of UTMV? I love writing elves, creatures I make myself, or humans! Humans are so interesting when they're powerless in a powerful world.

Unless you count a girl Sans original... nope! As for my other books, I've made a TON of fantasy species! The main character in my novel, The Fergen, is a Fergen! Which is an elf with dragon wings and can breathe fire! Lmk if you wanna hear more.

hey, asker of the web / light novel differences that was passed over to u the other day, thank u for all the things u brought up. i am curious to hear more about kiritos violence in particular bc that aspect always felt like it was missing smth which definitely checks with the information u gave. his dream sequence and battle w internalized guilt has always interested me but again it just felt like it wasnt quite all there. im also very curious about kyouji and since that seems to be ur area id love to hear u expand. i havent gotten to the phantom bullet lns cos im trying to catch up on progressive first and im a slow reader but the way hes portrayed in the anime just felt so ,,poorly written and overall bad?? like he just completely did a 180 and it never rlly made sense to me, i just assumed his character would be more coherent in the ln and they cut it out of the anime for time or whatever.

The other violent thing about web novel Kirito IMO is specifically HOW he killed the Laughing Coffin members in the raid. In the web novel, he mentions that he had sort of… lost grip of what he was doing? I guess? And got really into the fight, thus actually slicing a Laughing Coffin member’s head clean off (not a stance or slash you would take or do if you were only fighting in self defense). He does say his anger and vengeance took over in the light novel, but I think the decapitation in the web novel came from another place in his heart. Perhaps the same place that led him to beat up and steal from his beta tester friend in-game.

As for Kyouji! This boy has gone through so much, changes wise. And, as a Kyouji stan, it is my duty to not hide the monster he used to be.

TW: Mentions of sexual assault, discussion of suicidal characters, suicide attempts, and suicide as a religious and literary trope

The easiest way to put it is this:

For the most part, both Kyoujis are the same. They are nerdy and runty, something that got them bullied. That led them to dropping out of high school, so they are angry of those who seem to have it better. This leads them to make Death Gun, something that both backs them into a corner and yet also gives them an opportunity to attempt shinjuu with Shino (will elaborate what this means later). Now to contrast them a little.

Web novel Kyouji:

-Mocks Sinon when she makes mistakes (laughs in her face)

-Seems to think of Shino as a doll (or, at the very least, gives Shino the idea that he thinks this way of her)

-Is so obsessed with Shino he refuses to talk about her to anyone else because that is how sacred she is to him (that he doesn’t even want her name in other peoples’ mouths!)

-Is partially sexually motivated (remember the scene where he lightly touches a picture of Sinon on his computer? In the web novel, he, uh… does the nasty to it)

-Actually killed someone (he didn’t just play the part of Death Gun in the game)

-Doesn’t feel remorse for doing so

Light novel Kyouji:

-None of that lol 😭

This is what I mean by just a few cut sentences can change a character entirely! Without him being aggressive and ruthless and misogynist and this possessive, he ends up being a good friend who is just a bit whiny sometimes. The removal of his sexuality also makes it so that his motives are entirely religious. It’s still wrong for him to force that on Shino, but I think there is a difference between a delusional boy who doesn’t realize what he’s actually doing and thinks he can save both himself and this girl he cherishes who actively thinks she’s going to Hell… and an asshole boy who is very much attracted to this girl and is using this as an opportunity to force himself on her (which he nearly does, Shino is almost entirely naked by the end of the web novel’s iteration of the scene, but she fights back and then Kirito saves the day).

Wait, hold on! Religious motivation?

Here comes the part where I explain what shinjuu is. Shinjuu means lover’s suicide, in which a couple take their own life together. The religious component is that shinjuu is specifically a Buddhist practice and, within that, a free ticket to Heaven.

Hold on! But Kyouji and Shino aren’t a couple!

They may not be, but they like each other. This is certain in the light novel, and sort of there in the web novel. Shino thinks to herself that she does like Kyouji and want to date him, but simply thinks her trauma would cause too many problems in their relationship. Kyouji knows this and accepts it.

But also probably gives him the idea that this shinjuu thing could actually work.

In Kyouji’s mind, and partially Shino’s, the two of them are fellow tormented souls (Shino with her PTSD, Kyouji just not wanting to be here anymore). With the added layer of Shino thinking she’s going to Hell for having killed someone (real line in the light novel!), shinjuu sounds perfect! And with the religious belief that there’s something after death as well as Kyouji’s own delusional mental state, the gravity of death disappears.

Okay, this sounds plausible. But the word shinjuu is only ever used in the Sachi side story! How do you know this is the intended reading of the murder suicide attempt scene?

Some more context on shinjuu now. It’s actually a trope, having its own subgenre known as shinjuumono (“love suicide story”). It was popularized in theater in the 1700s, when playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon wrote Sonezaki Shinjuu (The Love Suicides at Sonezaki). The format of shinjuumono is that there are two lovers (usually a merchant and a courtesan) who cannot be together (think Romeo and Juliet), so they decide the only way they can get their happy ending is in Heaven. A motif of the older theatrical shinjuumono is that they would have Buddhist chanting as part of the performance. Very religious indeed.

So, shinjuu is sort of a big deal in the creative world. It makes sense for an author who unabashedly pays tribute to his inspirations to include it. I’ve gone over how Kyouji and Shino’s story is particurly similar to Sonezaki Shinjuu in the past, so I won’t delve too much into it here. The point is that Kyouji’s murder suicide attempt is shinjuu.

Some smaller tidbits that point to that are the placement of Kyouji’s hands during the scene. He puts the syringe on Shino’s neck — not on her side like in the anime or manga, which pisses me off! — which is where the protagonist of the Sonezaki Shinjuu places his knife on his lover. Kyouji’s whole spiel about reincarnating into a better world is also Buddhist, and so is his reassurance that “I’ll carry you all into the mountains where nobody is, and then I’ll follow right after you. So wait for me once you’re there, okay?” The mountains are a place in the afterlife in Buddhism, and this sort of journey he speaks of is often poetically depicted and performed in shinjuumono classics.

But I digress. This is just me trying to make sense of what’s in Kyouji’s head as he does what he does. When it’s just this, without any sexual motives like in the web novel, it paints a more depressing tale rather than one of abuse and fear. But since the anime frames it in a more sexual way (as they always do) and ALSO cuts out Kyouji’s backstory (that he was bullied and extorted for money, that he isn’t doing well in cram school) and makes it seem like Shino never liked him…

Well, it’s almost like they reduced him to a shell of his web novel self instead of adapted his light novel self. He’s no longer a misguided boy in pain (who feels remorse for his actions, so much that he can’t speak at ALL, unlike his web novel counterpart who bragged about killing and only refused to talk about Shino), he’s a one dimensional creepazoid like all the others in the show. It’s a disservice, since the light novel went out of its way to take out the sexual assault whereas most of the other villains didn’t get theirs cut out (it almost seems like Kyouji specifically was edited that way… because they knew the character he COULD be, as opposed to the other villains who were too far gone).

And, man, I’m real sad about that! Because now my favorite character is just a meme, someone people barely remember anything about other than him screaming Shino’s name.

There’s a lot more I can say, but I think this covers a lot of it. I hope this helped you understand him more! If anyone wants to ask clarifying questions, please go ahead! I know it can be confusing to know which Kyouji I’m talking about sometimes, lol…

hi anon! i havent played through my own SSR Dark Ripple yet but i did watch it in advanced when the card came out last year on cn server and the story is seared in my memory HAHA

(DISCLAIMER: take all of these with a grain of salt tho, bc it has been a whole year, and idk if some things were changed from the translation last year!)

long story short: no, nothing spicy Actually happens (and by spicy i mean "fucking", and by Actually i mean "written into the story with absolutely no doubt that fucking is what they did"), as those steamy moments are largely up to interpretation and/or cut to the next scene pretty promptly.

the steamy moments really are not the focus of the card's overall story, and are instead like....seasoning sprinkled around

for a more detailed rundown of the steamy moments (which will inevitably contain some spoilers) ive listed them under the cut :D

this card involves luke undercover as a cold, intimidating, and even cruel persona who goes by the alias "Raven" (which.....my god luke, u couldnt even think of a fake name that isnt ur codename? jHVKJAHSVKDFJAH) and mc joins the fray of this undercover mission as raven's arm candy who hes very protective over

the particular steamy scenes i think you could be talking about:

early the card story, to establish his cover character more raven!luke eithrer [EDIT: THIS IS A STORY CHOICE BASIS] 1) makes mc get on her knees and clean up a drink she spilled on his shoes so that they make a scene. or 2) pushes mc to the couch and pins her there, quietly telling her to resist so that they make a scene.

later on, they then go to a room alone to discuss case things more freely, but due to the fear of the room being bugged and surveilled, luke and mc have to stay very close. theres some talk of a mirror that Could be a two-way mirror, and theyre eventually interrupted by the Big Bad of this story when he goes into the room. it is this moment where mc straddles luke, so they wouldnt look suspicious like they were talking about the case and instead were in the middle of a passionate moment

later later on, luke starts getting a headache/fever which are side effects of a drug he took before the mission. this drug upped his alcohol tolerance so he could still drink during the night (and thus not be suspicious), but he does have to deal with those symptoms. mc doesnt like luke having any symptoms tho, so luke goes to the bathroom which hAS NO DOOR (????? WHO DESIGNED THIS MANSION AHSFVKJASH) and goes into the bathtub wiTH HIS SHIRT STILL ON (???? LUKE????) and he has a moment there thats teasing cuz mc was like "i wont peek!" and luke was like "im not bothered by that" and then he gets in the bathtub

the bathtub scene is Literally Steamy, because the water is a bit warm and theres literal steam everywhere. mc goes into the bathroom because she wants to help luke, and luke says something like "stimuli elsewhere can help distract from the pain" and then mc provides him Stimuli Elsewhere

again, largely left to interpretation Where that Elsewhere Stimuli is

lastly, in the scene towards the very end, mc and luke are back in their childhood home and for some reason (i forgot...i need to read through my own card soon i swear) mc is sitting on a table and luke is very close

given all of these, there are several points where a lot of thirsty fans (me, it's me, im thirsty fans, but tHERE ARE OTHERS TOO HAJKFVSKJHF) have filled in some blanks as moments where things couldve gotten intimate. but again, since it's not written undoubtedly in the story itself, it's left to interpretation, and so in my eyes, it doesnt truly count as fucking actually happen

Glitchy - hes like. My soulmate character. Obsessed w him for so many reasons. I think one of my favorite parts is just that i really adore like. "I hate everyone life sucks there's no point in living" characters who can't help being nice. We havent super gotten into it yet but he's such a sweetheart despite how he acts and feels JDJAJDJ

Steven - Steven is inspired by a handful of people I've known, so the parts of him that are based on my dad or brother make me happy (the cleaning scene was based on how my dad likes to play loud rock music and talk to me about old bands he likes while doing chores). In less sappy news I like drawing his hair. Fluffy HDKAHDJS

Mike - Mike is one of those characters where my mind just kinda melts when i try to phrase what i like about him. Hes my blorbo. My special boy. My silly rabbit. Im going to put him in a microwave

Lost - hes SO different from every lost silver interpretation ive ever seen and it kills me. Im almost sad he doesnt show up in Second Chance because i cannot wait to see how people react to him. Hes also like the direct inverse to Glitchy which is super fun to me

Tears - blue tears is a Really unhinged creepypasta and its super fun to make Tears just. One of the most hinged characters. Its so funny. Worlds normalest guy who can LITERALLY kill people with his mind. Also hes another jerk with a heart of gold type deal but its a different Flavor which makes his interactions w Glitchy fun

M!@# - drawing her with hurry heals my heart :] i also love my design for her

Creeps - idk if theres a term for this but i love "murderous person who doesnt fully grasp the weight of hurting people" characters. I cant wait for the sheer amount of moral dilemmas he'll put readers through ❤

Blake - his anomaly makes him super interesting. Hes forced to be very isolated and reliant on a caregiver he hates (Slenderman) and it provides a good dynamic with Creeps. I wish i could talk more about him but. Spoilers JDKWJDJ

some thoughts about pokemon violet. spoilers ahead!

there are. quite a few graphical glitches and messes whbejrvhr. sometimes trainers and pokemons eyes get stuck closed for a while, camera clips into the floor during battle, a sunflora i was in battle with and therefore Very Close To moved at a lower frame rate like other faraway entities. hough the homeroom scene..... almost everyone in that room looked so janky.

but tbh? i've been having too much fun to care too much about that specifically. the rest of the game is pretty :)

wish i could stop the minimap from spinning. i can lock the map app to north but not the minimap????

THE FOOD ILLUSTRATIONS ARE SO GOOD I WANT TO EAT THE ICECREAM SO BAD

rip pixel pokemon and item icons though </3 i find them more charming. also the icon for persim berries is too red and its bothering me, persim berries are PINK this is BRIGHT SCARLET

idk how pokemon icons on the minimap work either i'll be running all over the place it indicates and not find the pokemon its showing. i want a charcadet :(

i chose sprigatito but was THIS close to choosing fuecoco because of the first cutscenes. quaxly having to tell fuecoco not to eat the burnt orange whjegjevdj

miraidon my beloved asshole lizard who eats all my sandwiches. i gotta rewatch any and all miraidon scenes with koraidon when i'm done with the game, the first cutscene with the houndoom was SO COOL

PEOPLE WERE RIGHT ARVEN IS THE PROFESSOR'S KID

there were a couple nods to older games! a book in the library talks about someone seeing the stow-on-side mural get broken by a copperajah, another book talks about pewter crunchies, and the meditative seat art installation in artazon are items you could buy in oras as decoration for your secret base. i know every game has callbacks to previous ones but the stow-on-side one caught me offguard because thats a spoiler isnt it?? the other one surprised me too but more becaue Why do i remember this one specific base item. i havent touched oras in years

a library book also said Hydreigon and Volcarona got alt forms like donphan did and i need to see them IMMEDIATELY

as far as i've seen in the library, the pokemon that get those forms are donphan, tyranitar, volcarona, hydreigon. and Delibird. which i find hilarious bc its all these threatening scary pokemon and then. DELIBIRD.

WHY DID MY BELOVED LECHONK EVOLVE INTO AN EMO BOY

so far out of the new pokemon. the only design i dont like is spidops. spiops. i forgot how to spell it. where did my cute little yarn ball go :( maybe its just New Pokemon Doesnt Look Like A Pokemon Yet Syndrome but there is just SOMETHING about spiops's design that doesnt sit right with me

miraidon jumping is a little janky sometimes idk??? also i got stuck in a pond once and it could NOT climb out no matter where i tried. i had to fly out

i already like tera raids a lot more :') i HATED how max pokemon could shield and move multiple times and all that. i dont have online so max raids are damn near IMPOSSIBLE for me to do because the ai sucks That bad. i feel like with the time limit thing and infinite revives i could stand a chance doing it solo. this is just me talking about the early 1-2 star raids though idk how it'll go later on

i did get one odd glitch where my first attack didnt appear to deplete the hp bar, but then a few attacks later it looked like it had hp left but it fainted? my damage just. Didnt Show for some reason while still registering as damage

i think they fixed the overlevelling problem bc i was even getting my ass kicked by wild pokemon sometimes HKWBDJBF. i was cruising through fast like i'd gotten used to in xy to swsh, so i was actually underlevelled a lot. mela almost curbstomped me

THE CAR IS A POKEMON THEY WERE RIGHT ITS AN ACTUAL POKEMON

in conclusion i am having a BLAST. i absolutely adore this game so far!! i'm honestly able to overlook anything that bothers me just because i enjoy it a Lot. like of Course i still wish the subpar graphics werent subpar but Who Care look at my clodsire his name is Mousse and i love him
